#if this is the theory one wants to roll with i would make one addendum#where the brother knew for a while the narrator was going to try something like this eventually#and made the tunnel ahead of time (which is why the woods-hole smelled of lilac even then)#which would make the digging in town afterwards a play for psychological effect i guess#spook the narrator. keep the idea of digging and of the hole in the forefront of his mind#alternatively the townside tunnel entrance is hidden elsewhere#the digging could still be for mindgame purposes but also if you secretly dug an entire tunnel out to the woods the digging urge will have#gotten you by then. you know? its hard to shake

Ok, so I use Em Carroll's His Face All Red to begin the horror unit in my graphic narrative course and today I had a student provide my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TAKE on the comic.

They were like, "This isn't scary at all. It's a perfectly logical set of events."

And the class was like...what?

And they were like, "Clearly, the weaker younger brother didn't actually kill the stronger older brother. He bashed him in the head with a rock and, head wounds bleed a ton, so he thought he'd killed him, but he'd only stunned him. Older brother wakes up, climbs out of the hole, notices his coat is missing a giant chunk, and has a pretty good idea of what younger brother is going to do. SO he orders himself a new coat, has it delivered to a nearby village, waits two days for Amazon prime to show up with it, and then walks back to his home village on day 3 having decided to drive his brother absolutely insane in revenge. And then for the next several days he plays along with his brother's story and digs a hole next to his brother's house, except he doesn't stop there, he digs a tunnel that reaches back to the hole in the woods connecting the two. Because he knows that his brother is going to freak out at some point and go back to check if the body is still here. And when he sees his brother heading off into the woods one night, he hops into the farmhouse-hole and takes the short-cut tunnel to the forest-hole and puts on his old coat and rubs some sheep's blood on his face so that when his brother shows up he can roll over and be like 'whattup' so he'll lose his damn mind."

And then multiple other people in the class were like, "actually, yeah, if my sibling tried to kill me that's exactly how I'd handle it."

Townside Tranquility: Alluring Home in Close Proximity to the Heart of Town

“Interesting choice, choosing a salad yet making sure it has various toppings….”, he replied with a raised brow before nodding. Even though he loved the compliment and wanted to sincerely thank Shuonun, he didn’t.

Instead, he sighed out a, “I know” that he meant to sound bored. Furthermore, when Shuonun spoke again, he leaned in with a, “perhaps I’ll remain fully clothed while you won’t, we’ll see.” before motioning for the other man to unbutton his shirt ever so slightly.

“Figured this view in front of me could be better than the townside, prove me right?”

Alexander knew that the consequences of focusing entirely on building a career was a loss of any sort of relationship with others. Even his own family had been set aside at some point for the “big dreams” he talked about since he was old enough to comprehend words. Although it eventually came true, and he should’ve been happy, he still wasn’t.

Waiting for that feeling to kick in even as he stepped off of his flight and into the resort he was set to give a talk at, he let the bag-boy handle his luggage, rushing to explain that, “it’s fragile, watch out” before wandering away. Alexander also wouldn’t admit that he drank to soothe that chilling numbness inside, and he wasn’t about to do so in a place made for that.

However, before he could even order, he was quite literally frozen in his tracks. He didn’t even comprehend who the man likely was until it was too late. Perhaps it was the lack of sleep or constant pressure from everyone around him to at least try some sort of relationship, but he found himself stepping closer. Admiring the stranger from afar, his eyes drifted over him, and that’s precisely when he realised what the other man was. However, like most risky decisions, he plunged straight forward.

Shuonun was meticulously dressed almost as if he were a character or a doll. He wore an unbuttoned, white, long-sleeve shirt that was just a little too tight, as were his black pants, and his hair was tousled as if he hadn't had time to brush it that morning.

Or perhaps it had been messed up at some point that day.

When he noticed Alex's eyes on him he stared back for just a moment before winking and giving a wave with just his fingers.

He took a sip of his drink, letting his eyes fall closed so he wouldn't look like he was paying the businessman -for Shuonun has clocked Alex for what he was just as quickly- too much mind. Secretly, he hoped he was on his way over.

When Alex did stand beside him he turned to face him with a smile.

"Hello," he said softly.

My first overnight CYCLING ride.

On 25th November 2023, Saturday night, we all started from Decathlon and rode townside, exploring the famous monuments.

From 10:30 pm to 8 am next day, we were cycling. There was a slight drizzle after midnight around 12:30 am to 1 am. High wind, thunder and lightning started at around 4:30 am. It was raining from 4:45 am to 6:45 am.

We glimpsed at some shooting happening at Gateway Of India, with laser show and Indian flag projection.

Dev Diwali or Tripoorari Pournima or Full Moon in the early hours of Sunday, at Taj Mahal Hotel Palace.

It was raining. We were a bit cold from the ride and took a halt at the famous RamAshrya (old) restaurant at Matunga East. There was a queue from 4:45 am and the restaurant opens at 5:30 am precise. Hungry people rushed in to grab their seats. Only idli, upma, sheera, filter coffee is served at this time and then later sabudana wada is added. I counted 18 items on the menu, out of which around 6 were served at this time of daybreak. That's all. Keep it simple and delicious. Not fancy with some exotic names, to attract. Give quality and people will throng. The breakfast of steaming idli pudi, pineapple sheera, lemon juice and filter coffee was refreshing and we continued our ride home.

The glass exterior is literally reflecting the cloudy sky.

Overall Decathlon Malad had managed the cycling ride of around 100 riders nicely. There were 3 halts or pitstops. One at T2 on the Highway, then at Shivaji Park and last one at Asiatic library. A small tempo was hired carrying water and breakfast. Sandwiches were served at Asiatic library.

This was the best selfie of the entire trip!

Another slightly rainy morning at Sunlit Tides.

But the rain didn't stop Alexis from going to his Martial Arts training, which he attends on his (three) days off. Lucretia Parrott and Alastair Adams are there too.

Due to his efforts, he quickly became a Yellow Belt (Level 2).
