Ever since he had magically turned into a cat, Towa has caused more problems on purpose than he had as a human, and that’s saying something. But he couldn’t help it!! Cats can get away with literally anything, and he was going to take advantage of that! He was finally unstoppable!

There wasn’t a single piece of furniture that wasn’t ripped to shreds. Artifacts constantly went missing only to pop up in the most random places. The bird population on the island has been irreparably damaged. And Towa was just getting started.

It seemed that one of the general students from Vagastrom had left their car window rolled down — Big mistake. Towa stood a small distance from the car and crouched low, wiggling his behind as he prepared to make the jump. He waited for a second, then leapt up just enough to get his upper half through the window before he scrambled into the vehicle with a bit of effort. Those car seats were going to be unrecognizable by the time he was done with them.

Okay now I’m curious about the kanji and meanings, let’s see-

[His given name, "Haiji "(灰慈) means something along the lines of "mercy of the ashes (i.e. of a deceased's)" - somewhat matching his color scheme. It may also be reflecting his motive in creating The Resistance was to avenge the death of his father.]

This puts me in mind of a quote from ME3- "stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters". Haiji himself is not a merciful character in the least, and he is very much ‘ends justify the means’ towards the end. So just eyeballing that, the meaning seems to be something along the lines of ‘let the ashes give mercy, because I won’t’.

That or, the ‘mercy’ part is uhhhhh, ‘ironic’. To put it... uh... nicely.

(This secondary meaning is one I happened upon the first time, but I’m leaving my initial thought process under the cut for your discretion. It’s not gonna be pretty. Consider yourself warned.)

reading liner notes for surodame again and the fact that the entire reason Towa exists is because of a stray cat the lead artist (yamada uiro) adopted that had one eye :') thats so cute to me
