gig report, Köln 24.03.24

HOMETOWN GIG!!! was very excited and kind of anxious, so happy they were playing here

Sector 5's frontman got a tiara, the band has really been accepted by the fandom now <3

the crowd loved them and also started chanting for JC Stewart

Bojan took the tiara with the veil and was like “oh this must be for Kris right? Because Kris is a princess!” and then put it on Krisʼs head

everyone booed when Bojan had to take the fairy wings off again

he went to look for the fairy wings for Metulji and then also gave Jan a headband with butterflies on it or sth? And then said “let's make a serious song unserious!”

cracked up during Metulji again because people at the front started doing the macarena (sadly it didn't get as bad as Leipzig, I was kinda hoping for that)

Bojan also didn't take off the fairy wings for Everybody's Waiting so we got it with fairy Bojan which looked very funny

they were supposed to play Bluza but people started yelling for Schlager/Behind Those Eyes (which kinda makes sense for Cologne because the melody is very reminiscent of an old Schlager song that's very well known here) and Bojan went “wait. should we play Schlager?” and the guys were just like “yeah, whatever” so they changed the setlist and played Schlager and Bojan said that they've never seen such a reaction before

Bojan also said they kinda forgot that Schlager is an established thing and genre here lol

I said “thankfully Bojan isn't next to me during umazane misli this time!” to my friend, only to turn to my right side and see the sector 5 guys pushing their way through the crowd right next to me 🫠

joined Jan in doing the macarena during UM so I literally missed everything that Bojan was doing and didn't listen at all to the people who were singing, ooops

Bojan went on stage again, people started pointing to the sector 5 singer, Bojan exclaimed “ARE YOU THE SECTOR 5 SINGER???” and gave him the microphone so that he could sing umazane misli too (<3)

Kris was very stoic throughout the gig, boy was not smiling at all, I think he was pretty tired but idk

Jan came out, talked to us, went back into the bus to leave some stuff, came out again, and then said “oh I want to talk to the sector 5 guys again” and a few minutes later I saw them enthusiastically playing flunkyball down the road (drinking game)

they changed tourbuses which was really funny because we came back from getting food and suddenly there were two tourbuses next to each other and we were really confused (the new one is taking them to Slovenia after the Italy gigs, no idea what they're gonna do for the UK leg)

met so many nice people again, thanks to everyone who talked to me <3 <3 <3

So far, Fontaine is very pretty but also feels... extraordinarily empty. This is a highly advanced country with tourbuses, a navy, divers exploring underwater zones... I know games always asks you to suspend your disbelief but the idea that Fontaine is full of ruins that somehow aren't tourist traps and there are no diver or Melusine NPCs whatsoever in any underwater zones is stretching credulity incredibly hard.

It's the "this is a world full of brave adventurers with superpowers who are incredibly competent! this world is fairly technologically advanced! the adventurer's guild is a big deal that explores everywhere!" clashing really hard, once again, against "this is a wide open world for you to explore and discover new things!"

Bc logically, a lot of things should've already been discovered (especially if the adventurer's guild really are the ones dumping puzzles everywhere) the maps already filled and there are certainly people just as capable as we are at solving most of these problems and certainly more people should be in more places than they are, so the fact that the maps are as empty as they are all feels... incredibly disjointed.

I love the fancy dogs though. The first dog I saw in a top hat I stopped to coo over them for like a solid minute.

I had heard rumours that shifting realities and re-entering spaces of unreality were possible. There were plenty of groups within The Lot claiming that they could 'glitch' into a new space. so, I embedded myself into a group that loudly proclaimed they were master 'glitchers'. My long, hard work eventually paid off as I was led to a section of The Lot that had a manhole cover situated between two identical tourbuses. My mentors told me to grab the hook and lift the manhole cover.

Then i felt all the air leave my lungs as the world seemingly fell in on me, yet I was in freefall. The world became a kaleidoscope of colours swirling around me, faster and faster until the sights I was seeing began to hurt my eyes.

When I opened them again I was no longer in The Lot, but in some underground pool area; one you might find in some chique magazine about a resort or hotel. Complete with white tiles, the shimmering water and the sourceless blue-purple light that illuminated everything to me. Soft but hazy electronic music played off in the background as I sat down by the pool's edge and dipped my dusty and tired legs into the cool and chilly water.

This was not what I had been hoping for; but I couldn't say it wasn't a welcome retreat. Especially after spending years in The Lot; a nightmare of a parking lot that just never ended, surviving off of whatever could be scrounged up and pulled from the constant sea of parked cars under the ever-present Summer sun. But I couldn't lie to myself, I was dissapointed; a silly little part of me had been expecting to pierce this strange hell of unreality and liminal expanses and return to a linear and normal world.

And for a moment; I let myself relax and stop worrying. But only for a moment. I turned to where I appeared and waited to see if my mentors would apparate into this realm of unreality; as they had failed to teach me how to return to The Lot. Just that they needed to test my resolve and would come to pull me out of the pool once I passed the threshold. A ten second count, became a minute long count; which very swiftly turned into three minute count.

Then it hit me; I'd been had. They led me here and had resolved to let natural causes be the thing that kills me. Why? They had no rhyme nor reason to do such a vile thing to me. I just wanted to earn the knowledge to live my damned life in this liminal hell a little easier. Was that truly to much to ask!?

Whatever their reasoning for not following me right away to retrieve me is; I will resolve to survive and make my way back to The Lot to spite them. Because dying alone, lost and delirious did not at all sound like an amazing way to go.

I cup my hand and I experimentally taste the water; I was expecting a strong and unpalatable taste that often that many chlorinated pools have. So I was surprised when it tasted just like bottled water. "If that is what I think it is; at least I won't die of dehydration." I mutter to myself as I move from the pool to start finding the one place within this complex I needed to be to 'glitch' back to The Lot.

Creativity 1/2:

Following my birthday, I was left with quite a lot of LEGO bulding to do, as I received lots of it as gifts. The picture above is one resembling the tourbuses that drive around in London. LEGO reminds me of my childhood, but also the need to preserve that child like creativity. It is a great experience for relaxing and simply enjoying ones time. When building the LEGO set, I learned about the values of patience, creativity and child like fun.

Hi uhm I noticed youre like really cool and youre like. Idk youre just cool I dont know how else to phrase it. And I was wondering what are like. Some things that youd recomend someone to do at least once in their life? Like what are some experinces that you really enjoyed yourself/think youd enjoy a lot that youd recomend to other people ? Idk man Im on break soon, all my friends are busy and Im looking for things to do and you just seemed like a chill person who would give good recs 👍

i gotta say im really not as cool as you think i might be social media distorts stuff i spend most of my time doing boring shit 😭 like scrolling mindlessly watching family guy soap cutting tiktoks or washing up or doing uni work. anyway onto the ideas... if youre near any rivers or lakes or the ocean i would recommend doing something on the water i really like rowing and it is something you can do alone in a day which is so peaceful and rewarding and fun. go to your nearest city and cafe-hop with a book youve been meaning to read! GO TO AN ART GALLERY it is one of my fav things ever to do you will never regret going to an art gallery!!! go to a big one or to local exhibitions... go to art fairs and craft markets and support the local artists there, go see student plays! i once did a pottery making class which was fucking hilarious it was so fun and you can find so many similar things locally, you can make soap or do life drawing or learn to weave. and in doing these things you end up meeting so many people of so many different ages and walks and life AND you can learn so many new skills and find new passions and hear new stories and become involved in your community. GO TO PUNK GIGS! check out your local music scene! last week i got two tickets to a random feminist punk show and put 'hey anyone want this other ticket' on my instagram story and went with a complete stranger and ended the night hugging her at the barrier with loads of new friends. see if there are any flea markets/car boot sales in your area and go and find the weirdest objects and haggle with sellers! one thing i think would be really great to do if youre trying to have fun solo (and if youre the right age and have the financial means) is to book a hotel room/inn/b&b in another town or city or hell another country if youre able and stay there for a night or as long as you like. obvs make sure people know where you are and that you are safe (this one actually might be better to do with one other person) but like... be independent for a night it can be really fun and an amazing learning experience i was able to go abroad independently with a friend this year and as a newly turned adult i felt that throwing myself into a random place id never been to helped me to just kinda. mature in a way. anyway yeah just... go to new places and do new things and learn new skills, indulge your senses always, make a joke out of everything, but get out there and be a little spontaneous because even if youre afraid at first soon enough you wont be. if youre not able to do any of these things then READ. read as much as physically possible. read a different book by a different author in a different genre from a different culture every day. read wikipedia pages and go down rabbit holes. watch 5 different movies and read an essay on each one when youve finished. just like youll never regret going to a show or an art gallery you will never regret any time you spend reading. i have no idea if this was the answer you were looking for but i hope it was at least in the right ballpark or a conveniently adjacent one. if you have any followups or whatever my inbox is always open and i am having a very cool and fun night taking notes on a digital lecture about washington irving i was meant to do last week

I hope this question doesn’t come of too personal, but how did you get from Luleå to Piteå. I wen to ROC las year och det blev lite knas with the taxis and trains/buses and everything? Also did you stay at the hotel by the havsbad or somewhere else? (Cause That hotel costs an arm and a leg during that weekend)

ingen fara! the hotel by piteå havsbad is so incredibly expensive, it's almost ridiculous. i stayed at an hotel i luleå (scandic, om jag minns rätt). vi var ett ganska stort gäng som åkte till roc så vi alla pitched in och hyrde en bil! det var smidigt men om jag åker igen i år får jag nog förlita mig på bussarna LOL
