Listen, as someone who's favorite movie of all time is the Wizard of Oz, seeing the OG OZ gang with Dorothy's book canon silver shoes makes me fucking cry with joy.

Never in my life would I ever thought that I would see Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion and Toto again on the big screen.

Off and on for years, I've been working on a retelling of The Wizard of Oz and I recently was in the shower and had a whole moment where after the group melts the Witch and they return to the Emerald City, they're immediately put in the dungeon or whatever. They manage to escape due to Scarecrow squeezing through the bars or whatever I'll make happen and then they meet the Wizard and of course he's not a real wizard and can't give them what they want... I'm not gonna have him give them things that make up for what they actually want lol, what a conman... but I feel like maybe it's too mean by him putting them in jail? I don't want him to be irredeemable I guess because why would Dorothy trust him to get her back home with his ruined balloon.

What are your thoughts on this?

The Wicked book was weirdly antagonistic toward Toto so I’m glad he’s getting lots of love in your comics. He does deserve all the pets!

The way you draw Toto in your Wicked comics is cute. ^_^ He’s doesn’t pop up that often but when he does he just looks adorable.

I know that Toto is gonna love the heck out of Elphaba and be growling the second he sees the Wizard. Animal rights activist vs. guy who seems like he’d be scared of puppies. I want to see Toto be Elphaba’s best friend.

In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy and Toto are kidnapped by the witch, who tries to drown poor Toto, but he escapes to get the others. This time I imagine Elphaba gently taking the dog in her arms and asking him to help lead Fiyero and the others to her. Then she enchants the shoes to give Dorothy a way home, because Elphaba knows the Wizard can’t give that to her whether Dorothy kills her or not, and Dorothy is a lost child who clearly doesn’t want to kill anyone and regrets killing Nessarose (even though it was clearly Morrible).

Her DOG TRAINOR was paid more than the munchkins. Terry the Dog did not have a concept of money. She was just a widdle baby.
