Day 42– GERUDO SHELTER
Bularia’s irritated, Riju’s exhausted, and plots are to be had with the gutted insides of ancient war machines.
(This totk rewrite au is called Familiar Familiar! It all starts when Zelda doesn’t get sent back in time and the butterfly effect devolved from there.)

Botw/Totk Headcannons!
SPOILERS FOR BOTW AND TOTK’s ENDINGS
Riju is obsessed with sand seals because before her mother died she watched her mom sew the sand seal stuffed animals found in her room
Prince Sidon and Lady Yona are married for political reasons , they’re besties but they do not see eachother as romantic partners . Lady Yona is asexual and lesbian and has feelings for her guard. (The black Zora, i forgot her name sorry) .
Link brought The Light Dragon/Zelda silent princess flowers every day and often times braided them into her mane
Rauru and Sonia adopted Zelda , not legally , but she’s basically their daughter .
Bularia isn’t just Rijus guard but also acts as her mother . She cooks her breakfast every morning and sang her to sleep in botw, when she was younger.
Link and Zelda shared that one bed in their home . Infact this isn’t even a headcannon , it’s straight up canon .
Link uses sign language
Tulin and link are practically siblings , Teba doesn’t mind the chaos but doesn’t quite appreciate the explosives .
After Botw, the champions felt that they had served their purpose in the afterlife and therefore took away the ability that they gave to link as they passed to hylia’s lands .which is why link does not have the abilities in totk . Sometimes the champions visit him in his dreams though .
link is very cuddly and fluffy with Zelda and allthough it’s strange to zelda, she appreciates it nonetheless
Sidon and Riju are very good friends . Siblings almost . Riju tries to do sidon’s make up every now and then.
Speaking of makeup , gerudo make-up is made from hydromelons being ground into fine powder . This is used for eyeshadows and blushes . The iconic blue lipstick is made from chu-chu jelly .
The longer a hylians ear is, the more Royal blood they have .
Zelda keeps a portrait of all the champions and sages in her house .

i still think link botw/totk would be a knight of space. breath comes sort of close but hes also a bit too dutiful to everyone as a community, but not in a karkat knight of blood way; the breath/blood axis isn’t what he’s bound to. he’s definitely on the space/time axis. you look at me and tell me this isnt link. link protecting people through space and protecting space (and time gets involved as well…..which could signify a connection to space/time aspects. but his arcs, where he is most in his element and zone, are more involved with the present, while zelda’s is more involved with the past and future)
bularia tells link that he has a “flair for the absurd” after talking about fusing a mushroom to a spear, a wink to creative players who made the world their sandbox back in botw and inspired the totk creative team with their magnesis minecart flying machines. but this also means “flair for the absurd” this is part of link’s canon character attributes
(x)
ever look at your hero’s path mode on the map? doesn’t this description seem familiar? what totk did was give the sandbox plenty of toys, and made it somehow even more obvious with the green-colored power motif. the free rotation of objects on three axes and the abillity to glue them to other objects in any way and detach them at will. the ability to fuse weapons and objects to weapons, exploiting space / “creation” literally as a weapon. oh yeah and straight up ascending vertically through solid objects
about the knight, link’s functional relation to this aspect, should be obvious and fits the boy like a glove:
the funny thing is that the zonai secret stones are kind of like aspects in of themselves arent they?
the aspects of the secret stones are more physical than conceptual. wind, water, fire, lightning. and then spirit for some reason but that would be kind of close to heart aspect (self)….minus the conceptual side. wind is also sort of analogous to breath but minus the conceptual side of breath, just literally windy thing.
time is time. i wonder if there are “different” time users, because all we’ve seen so far is one ability: recall, used by sonia and given to link, is sending an object’s path back in time at the small scale. or when more powerful capable of sending the object as it is now back in time outside of itself like zelda did, so instead of zelda sending herself back to when she was conceived over 100 years ago as a zygote, she accidentally sent herself back to like the equivalent of caveman times in real years but she is still the same chronological age as she was right before.
anyway but there’s only like, two classes we know: sages and kings. rauru is a king of light. oh yeah there’s a light secret stone power also. light in zelda seems to be analogous to hope in homestuck though in that its a upheavel darkness/“rage” opposed power
ganondorf’s aspect is totally rage dont even talk to me
the sativa edible is kicking in as i write this

Hello again folks, welcome to part... 4? Part whatever-this-is of me rambling about my adventures in totk. Since my last update I've done quite a few new things. Spoilers for late(r) game adventures down below!!! !!!!TOTK STORY AND GAMEPLAY SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!!!
So I should have completed the Goron questline by now. Butttt I haven't. I just. Don't like the fire temple. I really like the ideas that I've seen so far, and the way they make use of the minecarts, plus adding Yunobo onto there to serve as a missile launcher. But it's dark and ominous and hot, three things I don't really like lmao. Plus I kept getting all confused. I got one of the locks and then just put down the travel medallion to keep my progress and left. I have the full Sheikah set now!!! I'm currently trying to upgrade it all to lvl2 to get the night speed up boost. The way I play totk, I'm mostly out at night sneaking around, so it'll be helpful. I'm also planning to go grab Sheik's Mask soon. I have the Sheik amiibo so I did a little time-travel-fuckery last night trying to get it. Imagine my surprise when I got paraglider fabric instead!! I looked it up to make sure the mask was still there (because, you might not know this, but I am a huge fan of Sheik) and I got a glimpse of where it is before I closed out. I'm probably just gonna follow a walkthrough to get it honestly because I want it Soon. I've sworn to myself not to follow any walkthroughs for totk but I think this time I"ll allow it. I also got the full Yiga set!!! It was so fun being able to go into the hideout and see them as people you can talk to and not just as nameless faceless enemies. I mean... they are still just nameless faceless enemies... but now they're nameless faceless enemies with a little bit of pizzazz. Also the earthwake technique?? AMAZING. Now I haven't used it in combat yet (bc I'm bad at remembering to use special skills in combat, sue me) but I love the way it was implemented into the game. I love the fact that it was implemented into the game in the first place!!!! AMAZINGGGG. Also I was Not expecting to get an off-brand Thunder Helm there what the fuck that's so col. The Yiga get so much more development in this game and they're even slightly more capable. Not by much tho.
I also have a newfound love for Lookout Landing. It's the first settlement of the game (if you follow the story path) and over time in the game it populates with members of other races??? As we all team up for one united stand against the newest apocalypse??? Amazing I love it. I loved seeing Bularia and Muzu and Harth there, but the most emotional I got was when I talked to this random Gerudo guard at the gate, who said something along the lines of "You helped us save our home, now it's our turn to help you save yours. You just focus on your goals and know we've got your back." From a story sense that is just so fuckin sweet, since Link has been forced to do everything all on his own carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Except now he has help. (also pls I want that for me ;-;) And the music in the Lookout Landing just. it vibes. I don't really know why it hits me so hard but it does. There haven't really been many songs in the totk soundtrack that stood out to me yet (though I think once I start studying the ludomusicology of all this, that'll change, just like with botw). But I really love the Lookout Landing music. It's so hopeful compared to everywhere else. One thing I wish they'd done was make it so little elements of the different culture's soundtracks got implemented into it when they came to the landing, like it did in Tarrey Town. Maybe it does do that and I just didn't notice but I definitely noticed in Tarrey Town so.... Speaking of! Another place with music I liked! I finally made my way into Hyrule Castle proper. Like, the one in the skies. I don't know why I always thought it was so off-limits, this is a sequel to Breath of the Wild of all things, I shoulda known I could go up there. But anyways. The music there? Oh. My. God. I didn't think there was a version of Hyrule Castle theme that could freak me out and make me on-edge more than the BotW Hyrule Castle did. Boy was I wrong. It's so creepyyyy. I still like BotW's Hyrule Castle more (I miss Zelda's Lullaby ;-;) but this is definitely more fitting to the themes of this game (creepy floating ruin) and botw's is more fitting to it (ruins of a great majestic power that's now a shadow of its former self)
uhhh yeah i think that's all i have to say for rn. tune in for part 5 in a bit!

So after a lot of thinking, I have a theory. The Gerudo are living in a partial Omegaverse.
Omegaverse, short version, you have at least six sexes. Alpha men/women, beta men/women, omega men/women. And the Gerudo have three of those.
Bularia and Nabooru are textbook examples of alpha women, and also the one in BotW Gerudo Town with the big thighs. They're big, buff, and will kick your butt given half a chance. These are the women with the... ahem... well, they do the fertilizing.
Then you have beta women. Riju is clearly a beta. So are most of the Gerudo we see in town and elsewhere. They're everyday cis women like you'd find anywhere else. Hell, the Gerudo Thieves from OoT always gave me a beta feel compared to the more alpha guards.
Ganondorf is a textbook alpha man, in every single version I've seen (which admittedly was only OoT and TotK- he's a pig in LttP and LoZ and that's all I've played this far). Tall, muscular, and... *ahem* fully equipped for any situation.
Admittedly they don't have pheromones (or if they do, they certainly don't talk about them), they don't have beta and omega men, and they don't have any "werewolf stuff" that often gets drawn in from the early Omegaverses. But it's a fairly simple explanation for it. Gerudo are a three- sex race with highly dominant genetics.
Queer Zelda Theory
The Legend of Zelda universe has some interesting lore about the Gerudo Tribe and today I’d like to argue that one of the prevailing theories about them, namely the one about how they have children, isn’t as likely as the one that I’m about to propose.
