The gopchang restaurant that Seungcheol takes you to smells like grease and smoke. It’s August and the air in Seoul is unbearably hot and muggy as ever, even at night. A thin film of condensation creeps at the edges of the glass windows looking out into the street and the inky black expanse of the Hangang, but you’re tucked safely in the small corner booth.

Seungcheol is sweating. Cheeks pink and forehead glistening, he commandeers the grill, tongs in one hand and scissors in the other. His white button down hangs limply off his broad shoulders and the sleeves are roughly rolled up to avoid oil splatters. You sit and watch, listless, with your cheeks in your hands, propped up with your elbows against the table.

“Here,” he takes a small piece of meat off the grill and puts it on your plate. It’s slightly burnt, but it’s just the way you like it.

“Thanks, Cheollie,” you mumble. Taking one hand off your cheeks, you pick up your chopsticks and push the meat around for a second before sighing and lifting it to your mouth.

“No appetite, huh?” Seungcheol is evidently satisfied with the state of the meat and begins divvying it up between your plates, clacking his tongs and dripping grease on the table in the process.

“No, I’m hungry,” you say around a mouthful of gopchang and lettuce, “I had to skip lunch today.”

Seungcheol pauses and frowns at you.

“I know.” You chew miserably. “But my lunch time got scheduled over and I couldn’t miss the meeting. The project I’m managing, the green energy building in Seodaemun, is pushing over budget and late because of the chip shortage, and the stakeholders keep changing their minds.” You close your eyes and press your face into your hands, trying to assuage the oncoming headache. “I’m so tired. I can’t sleep because I keep worrying about this project.”

“Here.”

You look up to see Seungcheol opening a bottle of beer for you. He places the frosty cold bottle next to your plate. He lifts his own beer in a silent gesture, and you can’t help but to grin at the silly expression on his face, a mix of sympathy and understanding, and you click the neck of your bottle with his. The beer is cool against your throat as it goes down, just a little bit of relief from the sweltering Seoul heat.

“I wish I could help you,” Seungcheol says as he starts to load vegetables on the grill. “I mean, just say the word and I’ll go yell at whoever is making your job hard.”

You laugh and lean against the wall next to you. “Thanks, Cheollie. I wish I had you behind me for my meetings. But enough about me, how’s your new team member?”

Seungcheol heaves a heavy sigh. “He’s not the fastest learner, but he’s a hard worker and he has good intentions. I think he’d be better suited for another role, but I’ll give him some time before talking to him about it. I think I’ll just mentor him the best I can until then.”

You smile. You can just see him in the office in his neat suit, hands interlaced atop his desk, a kindly expression on his face. “I bet you’re the best boss ever,” you tell him, idly picking at the bean sprout salad on the table. Seungcheol purses his lips, somewhat embarrassed, and shrugs.

“I try my best.”

After your meal, Seungcheol insists on walking along the Hangang with you to work off some of the calories from the grease-heavy dinner. Here by the water, the air is somewhat cooler and fresher. Seungcheol’s thin shirt flaps in the soft breeze, his tie long forgotten, rolled up and tucked away in his pocket.

When he showed up at your office earlier to greet you and pick you up, you noticed that he was wearing a red silk tie with little burgundy stripes on it— the tie you bought him as a congratulatory graduation gift all those years ago.

“I like your haircut,” you tell him, affectionately running your hand through his freshly shorn short chestnut-colored locks. “You look cute.”

He laughs. “Cute? Don’t I look like a dad? That’s what Mingyu told me, at least.”

“No,” you shake your head, smoothing down his hair, “you look young.”

He looks like how he did when he was in university, where the two of you met. Back when you had ambitions and he had none. You with your purposeful engineering degree, and him with the business degree that his dad made him enroll in. And now, you’re not sure if he’s happy in middle management in corporate hell, but he certainly looks better than when he was a resentful, aimless student.

“Thanks,” Seungcheol flushes. His eyes are wide and his cheeks are pink.

You hold your hand gently against his head, smoothing your palm down the back of his neck, painfully affectionate, and you convince yourself that it’s the soju that’s pulling the blood to his face and not the fact that he’s been in love with you for almost a decade.

In a small moment of indulgence, you place your palm against his neck and stroke your thumb slowly under his ear. He sighs softly and leans into your touch, ever so slightly.

“Thanks for coming out with me, Seungcheol,” you whisper. The two of you are standing right in the middle of Hangang Park, surrounded by fellow pedestrians, but you keep him close, like you’re trying to encapsulate the two of you in this moment, frozen in time. “I feel a lot better,” you smile. “I really needed this.”

“No,” Seungcheol replies, “I needed this too. I always feel better after getting food and hanging out with you.” His eyes are gentle and warm, so soft, all for you.

You swallow the lump in your throat. “You’re a good friend, Seungcheol. Thank you.”

i was gonna reply to your owl house hunter post but i feel it is not best to put "i like huntlow" on an anti huntlow post so, i ask it here😅 anyway i do actually like willow/hunter but yes i agree both their characters got certain traits way too exaggerated near the end of the show. their relationship is like lumity (luz:amity similar to willow:hunter) but taken a liiiittle too far. their character journeys took them to the right places imo, hunter healing and getting nicer and willow becoming more confident, but it feels like their original personalities were too lost along the way. i prefer their season 2 dynamic to the season 3.

sorry to dump all my thoughts on you but it's difficult to find someone in the owl house fan who agrees on the middle ground. everyone either loves huntlow or despises it😔 personally i find it sweet but wish it had happened somewhat more tactfully

Yeah, I actually used to ship H/untlow during season 2. Because again, I like it in theory. I think the problem is that they try too hard to make it like L/umity, so it doesn't feel like it's the real Hunter and Willow together. Something I also don't like is that Willow only returns Hunter's feelings in the very end. Before For the Future, we just see her being friendly towards him. It almost felt like it would've been an one-sided crush. If they at least showed some hints of Willow liking Hunter back (like more moments of her blushing around him, or maybe her talking about him with her other friends), it would've felt more natural.

I know I can be... a little intense with my frustrations on H/untlow 😅, but it's not really the ship's fault, if I'm being honest. For one, the execution sucks, and the diehard fans call you a fatphobe if you don't ship H/untlow. These two things can really annoy me. But again, it's not like I completely hate H/untlow on itself. It could've been a cute little ship, and honestly it still isn't, y'know, problematic. It's just badly written. It could've totally worked.

Omg I also have tons of dental issues all the time. The character trait I share most with the MC is that she and I both have cavities ALL the time. I also had to have some reconstructive surgery as well (thanks genetics) plus wisdom teeth. Etc. I had so many issues all at once I genuinely thought I could have been a dentist because I learned so much. I grew up in a small town so my neighbor is actually my dentist but I didn't have the right health insurance for a while to go to her practice (America, ya know?) so it was a lot.

I LOVE a reread of my middle school era books. I think I told you I was a huge Twilight fan. Nothing makes me feel more alive than rereading Twilight snippets 😍 I also loved this trilogy about this girl who could see other people's dreams like really lucidly. I loved it so much and I refuse to part with it through all my book donations. I also read this series that was semi-supernatural? I don't have a better word for it. She could like see the future through touch and through sculpting. I think it was my favorite series ever the male main lead was named Ben and I was OBSESSED. Okay actually I thought of like five more YA books I read and obsessed over so I'm going to stop here before I never shut up 😭

HEAT WAVE POWER OUTAGE. I would sit in the shower. Ugh. 90 🤮 I would scream. It's like 70-80 here. AND the heat compressor broke so my room was a balmy/toasty temperature this morning when I got to work. INSANE. I decorated 😍 Idk if I'm any good at it, but I just enjoy fall a lot and I like fall things. I did what I could. I'm def not a cover every surface but I try to make it look tasteful and not tacky.

I DID have a lovely pretty relaxing weekend. I'm having a pretty good week too *knock on wood* busy but productive 💕

The soft rays of sunlight peeked through the window bathing me in golden warmth. It’s as if my day was already off to a good start. Well it always was if Azriel was beside me. 

I turned slightly to see his eyes shut, eyelashes longer than most females brushing his cheek, full lips in the slightest of smiles. 

He looked peaceful and knowing how hard it was for him to sleep I decided letting him lie in was the best option. Trying to untangle myself from his firm grip was a harder task than I had thought it would be. Azriel inched closer for every little space I created between the two of us, his face resting in the crook of my neck. 

Finally accepting defeat and realizing I wouldn’t be able to leave without waking him up I gently shook his shoulder “Azriel?” 

All I got in return was a slight groan and him stretching out his wings before folding them again. He was not going to make this easy. 

“Az. My love I need to get up” I tried again, running my hand down his arm, the warmth of his body seeping into me. Slowly opening his eyes he blinked at me for a few moments as if making sure it was me next to him. Once he had taken in my whole face his lips turned up into the softest smiles I had seen, my heart doing backflips at his unrelenting gaze. 

“Morning sweetheart” His voice was hoarse from having just woken up and I could tell he was still tired. Pressing a kiss to my forehead he loosened his grip so I could slip out of bed.

I made my way to the balcony that connected to our room watching as the sun rose, spilling light onto all of Velaris. I could see the Sidra from here and all the small shops still with their closed signs, the sight of my favourite bakery already making my mouth water. I loved peaceful mornings like these.

As I stood on the balcony, taking in the peaceful sight of Velaris, I felt calm and as if nothing could go wrong today. The Sidra shimmered below in the morning light, and the buildings, with their intricately carved facades and soft pastel colours, seemed to reflect the tranquillity I was feeling. The air smelled faintly of fresh bread and sweet pastries, the hint of black coffee in the air reminding me to get some for Az when I stopped by there later in the morning.

Azriel’s footsteps were soft as he joined me, the warmth of his chest pressing gently against my back as he wrapped his arms around my waist. The morning was already warm enough, but his body heat was a comforting cocoon, making me sink back against him, feeling safe and grounded.

“Mmm,” he murmured, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of my head. “That’s even worse. Because then you might think you’re getting away, and I can’t have that.”

I could feel his smile against my hair, a grin that promised more. Turning in his arms, I brushed a stray lock of his dark hair back, fingers lingering as I gently trailed them down the side of his face. “If anyone’s ever tried to slip away from you, I don’t imagine they’d get very far.”

He chuckled, a low, rich sound that vibrated against me, his wings giving a small, lazy stretch. “True” He admitted. “But you know I’d never stop you”

I raised an eyebrow, amused. “You’d let me slip away?”

“I’d let you slip,” he murmured, pulling me closer, his lips brushing against my temple. “I’d just follow. And we’d end up right back here.”

His words were like honey and they made me melt into him even more. Gods was he perfect. And so were his words.

For a while, we both simply stood there, looking out at the world together. His hands were warm on my back, his breath soft and steady as he held me. Azriel’s rare moments of vulnerability, when he allowed himself to simply be around me, made me want to kiss every part of him, wanting him to know how I loved that he trusted me. He carried so much on his shoulders, the weight of past scars and current burdens that few knew of. He was gentle in ways he hardly acknowledged and I hated when he thought otherwise.

After a long moment, he gave a small sigh and rested his chin on my shoulder, his gaze distant as if he was already halfway out of Velaris. I knew what he was going to say so I beat him to it.

“Rhys is sending you out again soon, isn’t he?” I asked gently.

He nodded, his jaw tensing a little as he looked down at the city. “We’ve been getting reports from the borders. Faint movement.... but we're not sure what it is” His hand tightened on my waist as he spoke, and I felt his tension rise. “Rhys wants me to go in quietly, see what’s really going on.”

I placed a hand over his, giving him a reassuring squeeze. “You’ll handle it, Az. You always do. Just....be careful”

He looked at me, a mixture of tenderness and determination in his gaze. “Always, for you.” His fingers brushed a stray lock of hair from my face. “I’d never leave you waiting.”

A faint smile touched his lips, but it didn’t reach his eyes. I hated goodbye's. But I couldn't stop them, so savouring every moment I had with him was crucial.

The sun continued to rise, casting golden light over the rooftops. “I’ll come back before you even miss me,” he murmured, the shadow of a smile on his face. As if he knew what I was thinking.

“I’ll hold you to that” I whispered, wrapping my arms around him a little tighter.

ok post show thoughts:

waterparks were really good i could not believe that was their first ever arena show. they were great. also i now have a video of an unreleased song of theirs which is :-) cool

saw one girlofswords shirt (i’m not a boy but my girlfriend is), one sweatermuppet shirt (maybe if you pray to god he will forgive you for being cisgender). lots of cute outfits & cute references to various things, obviously i can’t list them all. but i did see a “pool boy at the vampire mansion” shirt, along with their friend who had a matching shirt that said “mystery shirt”. love it, love the hustle, keep up the good work. also there was a couple where one of them had a shirt with just the man from the revenge cover, & the other one had a matching shirt with the woman. which i adored

arrived, got in the very long line, was told “this is just the merch line if you want to go inside you can just go in”, thought “oh that’s ok we want to hit the merch line asap anyway”, stayed in line. turns out it was a mini merch stand with like half the stock. we found this out when we were like 3 people from the front of the line. when it was our turn we couldn’t even get the tour shirt in a large or medium. so then we went inside and went to a big merch stand and stood another 45 minutes and honestly thank god the timings of the show were wonky & it didn’t start until 8 because we were in our seats maybe 5 minutes before. but we fucking did it

also by the time we got to the front of the real merch line they were out of mystery shirts. i hope u all enjoy them. made life easier for me too bc i was really considering it but i was already spending like $110 on merch without it (boy zone shirt, tour shirt, tote bag. absolutely necessary purchases)

i could see the stage but it was dark it was kind of hard to pick everything out. i can almost see better in my videos

i took a 4 minute long video of the static before the show, which i ended up regretting when i ran out of storage during vampires lol

i wanted to sing along to foundations but nobody around me was singing and i was shy… and then they played i’m not ok & everybody in the place was singing and i wasn’t shy about it anymore (bc even if they weren’t singing to one song they probably would be if they liked it more and it’s not my fault!! i like all of them!)

I honestly don't mind the time spent in writing these messages because they are well spent at least~ 😂 About my meds, hm there's 3 new prescribed meds to me and the 2 are probably the cause of my dizziness yesterday(?) So i just took the 1 that is similar from what i was taking before. To answer your question, antidepressants and such meds will make you feel the side effects first around the week of your first intake to probably make your body get used to it!! (Maybe this stuff have been discussed in your classes too, i wonder 🤭🤔) I'm lowkey afraid to take the first 2 i mentioned since i really experienced dizziness that makes me unable to stand up and such 😰
