Hey Toronto Commoners, We’ve had a lot of questions about our 6 year anniversary event.. and well January has just been packed with events + we weren’t sure how to add another event on to our calendar. 😔 Our friends @eatingthroughto just launched #UltimateEats series which offers unique one-time dinning experiences once a month. The inaugural event is Jan 28th + will feature one of our favourite cuisines, #Sichuan @816cuisine. We know we’ve done an adaptation of Sichuan before for our 4 year anniversary + Peking Duck last year, for our 5 year anniversary but can you really have too much of a good thing? 😬 We’ve decided to combine our 6 Year Anniversary with @eatingthroughto’s first Ultimate Eats dinner! We really upped our Anniversary game last night with sparkling all night long, @laiwahheen’s 7 course innovative dinner, + an extra 8th special dessert from @nugateau for good luck. . A real treat for all our Toronto Commoners who braved the weather + joined us for our annual celebration. ❤️ . Regularly voted one of the best #dimsum + #Cantonese #Chinese restaurants in #Toronto with features in @nytimes + @torontolife, @laiwahheen mixes traditional Cantonese style + flavours with some gourmet flair in their innovative dinner. . Our first course was pan seared Foie Gras on crispy rice cracker with dark vinegar sauce. . Followed by a #DimSum sampler, deep fried shrimp ball wrapped in bacon on strawberry mayo, crab claw with shrimp + chive wonton, + the open purse scallop + shrimp steamed dumpling with caviar. . Next was a 2 course #pekingduck with the traditional sliced crispy skin on thin crepes with cucumber, scallions, + hoisin sauce. Followed by a wok fried minced duck on fresh lettuce leaf. . Course 5 was wok baked butterfly lobster in garlic sauce followed by deep fried lamb chop with truffle + assorted mushrooms for our final savoury course. . We finished with mango pudding, + our special black sesame + orange choux with plenty of sparkling from start to finish thanks to @wine.corbybeat ❤️ . We wanted something that wouldn’t overshadow the food + fit with a celebration + @jacobscreekwine sparkling #chardonnay #pinotnoir paired well with everything so we didn’t need to switch throughout the night. Plus it’s super affordable + is regularly preferred in blind taste tests compared to some more expensive brands. 🤫 . Our Anniversary #dessert this year was @nugateau’s limited release #ChineseNewYear #mandarin #pateachoux with a custom #blacksesame cream. 😋 We discovered @nugateau on @eatingthroughto’s #pastrycrawl + learned they do custom flavours + can print just about anything on their #eclairs.
