Yess it is, I believe @johnlockismyreligion is still on board, so is @legasovas . Also Leonid Toptunov's fanblog on Insta (always active). I'm trying to convince chernobyl.flowers to join us too, her Valoris and Toptumov vids should not be only on Tik Tok and Instagram. 😁 Thanks to her and to @fuerst-von-argot 's commissions I have more Valoris art in the works. 😉
Is Chernobyl fandom still alive? 🤔

Okay it’s playlist time, y’all ready?
Both of these playlists are for the characters Leonid Toptunov and Sasha Akimov in the Chernobyl HBO Miniseries. (As well as their ship, Toptumov).
“It’s The Little Things”
- mostly 70’s and 80’s rock
- classic rock, glam rock, soft rock, some pop, some new wave
- generally fun, dance-around-lip-syncing-in-your-shower-fun
- 58 tracks, 3h 37min
- the type of thing I could imagine Leonid getting a bootleg tape of from the west, he introduces Sasha to all this new music. They listen and Leonid can even get Sasha to dance to it even though they don’t know the lyrics.
- made alongside my fanart by the same name
“Love In The Time Of Socialism”
- more diverse in terms of music genre
- mostly art pop, rock, and indie/acoustic, although there is some classical and purely instrumental songs
- very specific vibe that’s very difficult to explain
- sad but,,, content? and very much hopelessly in love
- name of playlist comes from a song title
- 50 tracks, 3h 18min
- songs ordered in a specific way, I would suggest listening through it begining to end rather than on shuffle
- this I see more as a soundtrack then something the two would actually interact with themselves
- image at the bottom is my planning page for this playlist. It helps me to write out each song if I’m going to be putting them into a specific order, as well as see which could be removed

@bewareofdragon For the drabble prompts: #91 for Leonid Toptunov and Sasha Akimov.
Ok tumblr straight up didn’t notify me of this for some reason.
Anyway!
—
“I’ll never pass it. I know this! I know it all, but as soon as you start testing me, it all just... falls out somewhere. It’s hard enough remembering the things I’m supposed to know at this level when Dyatlov is in charge. Maybe I should just quit and get a job... I don’t know, in a shop or something. Although I’d probably mess that up too.”
It all came out slightly muffled, thanks to his forehead having dropped to the table with a thump shortly before his outburst, but the misery in his voice was obvious and Sasha felt his heart break a little at how badly his friend was suffering. Hesitantly, he reached out and placed his hand on Leonid’s bony shoulder.
“Hey, come on. It’s not as bad as all that. You passed your course at university, didn’t you?” he asked gently.
Leonid mumbled a response that sounded an awful lot ‘barely’.
“You did well enough to get hired here. Not a lot of men your age would even be considered for the position, let alone get it and end up being offered the chance to move up so quickly. Come on Lenya, you can do this! Why does taking the test worry you so much?”
Leonid lifted his head from the table, and with it came a sheet of paper stuck to his forehead. He quickly peeled it off, blushing furiously and leaving behind a smudge of ink. It was terribly endearing and Sasha could barely stop himself from reaching out and wiping it off.
“I don’t know,” Leonid mumbled. “I’ve always been nervous about tests.”
“But you went to university anyway! What made you feel capable then?”
“I suppose I just wanted it badly enough. I wanted to prove myself, you know? All anyone saw was this... skinny, weird looking runt. I was shy, I was shit at sports, I didn’t have many friends.... but I was smart. Even if nobody bothered to notice, I was smart. So I picked the hardest thing I could think of, and I was so worried about failing but I just kept thinking about how good it would feel to finally have something to be proud of, that made me someone worth noticing, and I got through.”
Sasha wanted very much to tell him that if they’d grown up together, he’d have been his friend. That he’d have noticed him and thought he was lovely and funny and interesting and definitely not ‘weird looking’. And that his skinny body was sometimes all he could think about.
“I was the similar when I was young, you know,” he said. “I was chubby, awkward, and probably far worse at sports. My father used to tell me I’d be better off becoming an apparatchik. I think he’d have been a lot happier with a son who could play politics and work his way into a position of power. I knew that life wasn’t right for me, I’m not... well, I just wouldn’t have been good at it. I thought if I did something difficult, something important, he’d be proud of me but I ended up falling in love with nuclear physics and did it for myself. Sometimes we’re stronger than we think we are. You just need to find your strength again.”
“I’m just... I’m worried that if I fail... everyone will realise what I really am,” Leonid said quietly. “And... well, I don’t want to disappoint you.”
“You could never disappoint me, Lenya. I promise. But don’t you see, it shouldn’t matter. I’m happy here. I enjoy my job, and I’m proud of myself, regardless of what my father might think. You should be proud of yourself too. And you should take this exam for yourself. Not for anyone else. If you want this job because you’ll enjoy doing it, that’s all that should matter. Don’t worry about proving anyone wrong or anything else, just focus on why passing this exam will be good for you.”
Leonid smiled sadly. “Of course it matters how you think of me. It matters... it matters a lot.”
It was only as his hand made contact with Leonid’s own that he realised he had given in to the impulse to reach out and grab it across the table. They stared at each other for a moment, and Sasha felt unable to take his hand back. Doing so would surely draw attention to the strangeness of the action. He knew he would need to calculate his actions perfectly but his brain felt like sludge. All he could think about was how long Leonid’s fingers were and how inexplicably soft his skin was.
“Don’t think badly of yourself for struggling,” he croaked.
His hand still lay atop Leonid’s. Why hadn’t he taken it back yet? Why was he letting himself continue to touch something more dangerous to him than the fuel rods themselves?
Leonid’s eyes dropped, looking at their hands. Sasha’s mouth went dry as he watched Leonid’s throat ripple with a swallow. Slowly, tentatively, Leonid turned his hand over until their palms touched and his fingertips were grazing the inside of Sasha’s wrist.
“Is this ok?” Leonid whispered.
Sasha nodded, unable to speak. The room felt too hot, even with the open window and his blood was rushing in his ears. Without breaking contact Leonid rose to his feet and shuffled around the small table to stand at his side.
“I, uh... I’m feeling quite strong now actually. Courageous, even. Do you mind?” Again, Sasha could not speak, so he simply shook his head. Grinning shyly, Leonid held his hand tighter and pulled him to his feet. “Good. Good, I’m glad. I’ve been trying to work up the strength to do this for ages.”
And with that, Sasha was being pulled into a kiss far better than any he’d allowed himself to imagine, and more than ever, he was certain that Leonid was far stronger than he realised.

I’ve almost entirely been writing Terror stuff lately so it was a bit difficult to get my mind back into a Chernobyl place, hopefully this turned out well enough!
