Out of the groups I write for (Monsta X| B.A.P | TOPPDOGG | History | KNK | NCT | Wannaone | selected Girl Groups) I will randomly select any person who has reblogged this post and dedicate a one shot to them and even use your name so it’s even more special! So of course you should be comfortable telling me your name.

Another aspect is that there are prompts to choose from out of these posts.

Scenarios can be fluff, smut, angst, friendships, etc and take place in any chosen time, for example in the 80s.

These are my general rules when making requests, but also as an extension to this event is that you must choose a prompt, member and what you’d like to be included, e.g smut and angst, etc. You can also cross groups, so choosing someone from B.A.P and then someone from Monsta-x is allowed!

He noticed as he roamed around the place there were strings above him attached to the walls. There were three colors: red, orange and yellow.

“Autumn. It’s orange, yellow, then red.” She explained pointing at the three trees. He objected, “But the leaves turn from red, orange, to yellow.”

“Exactly,” she said, “but Koyo states otherwise.”

“Orange symbolizes the girl, yellow for the Gingko tree, and red is the blood that got drained with the water.” She explained to him with a sad smile, “There was another color after those three.”

“What was it?” He questioned whilst walking towards their school. She answered after a brief pause, “Gray for her lover.”

He didn’t have anything to say, he just couldn’t look her straight in the eyes and tell her that it was all right–that he completely understood it. He felt defeated when she averted her gaze and said, “But I brought you here and it’s tragic.”

“You shouldn’t have.” Was all he could manage to say. She replied sadly, “I know.”

He simply stared at the spot where she had left him all alone and went back home. He knew she was crying, but he also knew she didn’t need him at that moment. Sanggyun sat down on the flat stone with the book in his arms, he silently watched as the leaves started falling one by one.

Like that, he’d let her remain a mystery to be solved by someone more deserving of her.

“Sanggyun,” he heard from afar. He almost broke down from her voice as he held tightly on the book in his hand. When she took a step to get closer to him, he finally looked at her.

His heart was with her everywhere she went, but he couldn’t manage to tell her. He held the book that had her soul imprinted on it, if she was gone he’d have a bit of her heart from keeping the book. He realized slowly that the book he had been holding for so long was exactly how deep their connection was.

“I found you,” he whispered rather inaudibly just to himself.

He pulled her close to him where he could feel her heart beating against his chest. He repeated, “I finally found you.”

You rolled your eyes and let out a soft chuckle. That’s another thing your best friend was notorious for. You’d lost count of how many times you’d been waiting on a text from him only to have him call you minutes or hours later all worried that you weren’t answering, then figuring out he’d forgotten to click “send.”

 “Aish, I’ll just go get us something, it was my fault. What do you want?” Hansol asked apologetically.

 “It was your turn to choose.” You answered. He gave it some thought, apparently no longer craving what he’d requested via the unsent text.

 “Mmm..you choose.”

 “Hansol just pick something, I’m hungry and it’s getting late. We still have to film the video for my project and I have class tomorrow morning!!!”

 He dragged out and exaggerated sigh. “Do you have anything here?” He asked. 

 You thought for a moment before answering. “Cereal and ramen. I’ve been too busy to do any grocery shopping.”

 He sighed exaggeratedly again, he could be so melodramatic sometimes. His shoulders slumped as he made his way to your tiny kitchen. You could hear him sighing loudly every time he opened the wrong cupboard, finding emptiness instead of ramen or a box of cereal. You started to set up for the video Hansol had agreed to help you with. Being a broke college student, you didn’t have fancy equipment so you were just using your phone to record and you’d DIY’d some props. Hansol returned from the kitchen and joined you on the floor. He helped you set up the props and made sure you were both in focus. You both practiced the script you had written up and didn’t even manage to get halfway through when Hansol exclaimed that he was bored.

 “Seriously?!” You complained. “Hansol, I need to get an A on this please show a little more enthusiasm.”

 “Um…I…”

 You glared at him.

 “I have to go cook the noodles. I hear the water boiling!” He said,  standing up and speed-walking  to the kitchen.

 “You are the worst.” You mumbled to yourself, skimming over the script.

 After about fifteen minutes, Hansol returned with two bowls of ramen. He set yours on the floor next to you then sat comfortably on the couch. You looked over at him and he looked at you with a smile as he slurped his noodles.

 “Yum!” He said. You rolled your eyes at your best friend and returned the smile. He ate while you focused on memorizing the script, playing on his phone in the process. After a couple minutes, he noticed you were ignoring your food.

 “[y/n],” He said, breaking your focus. “Your food’s gonna get cold.” You failed to respond, choosing to skim over the script once again. “[y/n].” He called out again.

 You looked at him.

 “Your food,” He repeated. “It’s gonna get cold. Eat.”

 “I’m almost done memorizing this.” You responded. He sighed once more and sipped the remainder of the soup in his bowl, setting it on the coffee table when he was done. He offered you his hand and helped you get up off the floor.

 “Eat.” He commanded, handing you your bowl. “I hope you like naengmyeon.”

 “I wouldn’t be eating cold noodles if someone had been helping me memorize these lines.” You said in a sing-songy voice.

“LISTEN.” He countered, picking up his script. You chuckled and made your way to the kitchen to heat up the ramen. You decided to eat there so you could just leave the plate in the sink instead of making a second trip. Laziness, productiveness, maybe a little bit of both. You couldn’t decide. When you returned to the living room, you saw your best friend laying like a corpse right next to the coffee table, a hand to his forehead and the other clutching the script.

 “Hansol, why are you so extra?” He didn’t make any sound or movement. “Come onnn,” You said. “We’ve gotta start filming. It’ll only take us like an hour. Maybe. I don’t know. Probably two.”

 His eyes shot open and he let out a loud, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!”

 “Come on, Hansol.”

 He closed his eyes again and lay silently. You punched him on the arm and he groaned loudly.

 “Alright, alright.” He said, giving in. “Let’s do this.”

 It took longer than expected to finish filming because you both kept laughing and messing up your lines. It was fun, though. When it came to editing you had to do it yourself because Hansol lay down again when you told him it’d take another hour of his time.

 “Ahhhhh,” You sighed contently after finishing, stretching. “It’s done.”

 Hansol sat up immediately and took over your laptop and pressed “Play,” both of you smiling and laughing at what you had created.

 “We did such a great job, [y/n]. “ Hansol said happily.

 “We??? As I recall, I’m the one who did all the editing.”

 “[y/n], I was here for moral support, alright? But uhh, who was your talented, handsome, lead actor that did such an incredible performance?”

 “Pshhhht, bye.”

 He hugged you tightly and you hugged him back.

 “Where’s that coffee you promised me?” He asked.

 You broke the hug and lay on the floor just like he’d done earlier. Hansol rolled his eyes as a smile grew on his face. “You’re the worst.”

Chapter 8

The ride back to Seunghyun’s house was done quickly but with a lot of evident regret from Seunghyun himself. He drove just a touch above the speed limit and his face was a mask of concern, mirroring how you felt inside. It was very unlike him to be unsure of himself or what was happening and despite the fact he wouldn’t tell you more than that he was going somewhere for a while, he would give you no more details. This detonated a bomb of worry in your head, if Seunghyun was concerned enough to show it, then something big was going on and you would find out one way or another.

All thoughts of Jisoo were pushed from your head as Seunghyun’s phone rang again.

“Yes?” There was barely a second of silence before Seunghyun’s voice sounded, a clang of anger and confusion in his tone. “I’m on my way. _____, we’ve got to make a stop somewhere.”

Seunghyun pulled the car away from the direction of his house at twice the speed he had been going. You heart went into your mouth. Something bad had happened and you didn’t really want to know what but you guessed you were about to find out.

“Where are we going?” You voice trembled slightly, whether because you were worried about what had happened or because you were worried this was about to be your last car ride ever, you weren’t sure. Your hands gripped the sides of the seat beneath you and you were squeezing so tightly you were certain there would be permanent impressions left behind from your fingers. You did not like being in vehicles that went too fast.

“Something’s happened at the ToppDogg base, we need to go check it out.” Moments later you were rushing out of Seunghyun’s car, a fire brigade in front of you battled to put out the burning blaze that engulfed the building. You found Pgoon hunched down on the ground and you made a beeline for his diminished form.

You bent down and put your hands on his shoulders and he jumped slightly, relaxing when he saw it was you. He had his head in his hands and suddenly you had an awful sinking feeling in your stomach.

“Pgoon?” The man didn’t move an inch, almost as if he knew the question you were about to ask. You hesitated, not knowing if you truly wanted the answer or not. “Where are the others?”

He didn’t respond for a moment and you didn’t think he would but suddenly you were grabbed by the arm and hauled away from him. You swung around, raising your fist but your wrist was grabbed too. You found yourself standing face-to-face with a very tall man, and that was saying something considering you knew Seunghyun. He had large eyes and a cold, expressionless face.

“Who are you?” He asked you, continuing to grip your limbs. You were about to bite his head off but you guessed it was lucky that Seunghyun interjected.

“Nakta, not now. This is the girl from the warehouse.” Nakta let you go and a little warmth crept into his expression, a slight apologetic look crossed his face before he turned to Seunghyun. “There are four members missing.”

“Who’s missing?!” You grabbed Nakta’s collar and pulled him closer, shaking him a little bit. The poor man was in enough shock already that he didn’t even laugh at a small person like you attempting to intimidate him.

“Jenissi, Hojoon, Xero and Bjoo.” You dropped the fistfuls of Nakta’s clothes and stumbled away from him, your mind racing to Bjoo and how you could help him or if you could.

“Seunghyun, we gotta go!” You said, walking away from the men toward Pgoon. You grabbed him and pulled him into a standing position.

“Excuse me ma’am, we need to question him.” A police officer stated flatly. You gave him your best no-nonsense look.

“Go question the BFG over there, this guy’s in too much shock to be interrogated now. I’ll bring him by the station when he’s ready.” You turned and dragged Pgoon into Seunghyun’s car, dumping him in the back and buckling his belt. You pulled back and looked at him, tears streaked his face hand your heart broke. However worried you were about Bjoo, you needed to multiply that by forty and that would be Pgoon’s feelings. You brushed the tears from his cheeks and he pulled his head away, wiping his face, embarrassed.

“Hey, we’ll find them and bring them home.”

“Not if they’re four piles of ashes we won’t.” He whispered. You weren’t convinced. You hopped into the passenger’s seat as Seunghyun started the car and made his way back towards his house.

“Ok, just ignore the fact I have eavesdropped on some of your little meetings and let me explain what I’m thinking.” You said, but no one looked too surprised so you guessed they already knew. Good. That would make saying your piece that bit easier. “I don’t think this is an accident, for obvious reasons.”

Most of the room shifted in their seats looking confused or skeptical while Jiyong and a few of the ToppDogg boys remained unresponsive. You caught Seunghyun and Seungri looking impressed and you immediately started to feel embarrassed. This wasn’t some detective show, you weren’t Sherlock and you weren’t part of any of this underground gang shit so why did you feel like you had the right to make assumptions here? You felt it in your bones though, the sneaking, clawing sensation of Iron coming closer to you, just like before. It had started this way back then. Those you loved and cared about disappearing or winding up dead. It was a curse. He was a curse. He had taken so much from you and he would take so much more... The part of you that wanted to give in an hand yourself over raged against the part of you that was too proud and too stubborn. You wouldn’t let the people you loved die only for you to give in. But, could you keep going on like this, letting more people be wiped from this Earth?

“Iron’s behind this, and if there’s anything I know about him, it’s that he generally likes to have a personal hand in people’s deaths and he likes to rub that in his target’s face. If I’m right about this which, no offence but, I think I am, then the missing TD members are still alive...for now.” You looked around the room slowly, trying to gauge the reactions, hoping with all hope that you would be taken seriously.  Iron had always let you either see him kill someone close to you or else he let you know it was him. Soon a calling card would come, something he would send to let you all know it was him but whether Bjoo, Xero, Hojoon and Jenissi would still be alive by that time, well, that was a different thing.

“We better start looking into it. If we leave it to the authorities to determine, we could be waiting a while and besides, that’s not our style anyways” Jiyong said, standing up and looking at Daesung. “You know what to do.”

Jiyong motioned to you to follow him and suddenly the room was a flurry of activity. Daesung was already talking with Pgoon and his men as well as Youngbae. Seunghyun and Seungri were following you and Jiyong down the hall. You had never been to Jiyong’s office in Club Lies and it was as opulent as you had expected, but you didn’t have a lot of time to indulge yourself in the all of the decor as a large tapestry adorning the wall above his desk caught your eye. It depicted a large green dragon.

You stopped in your tracks, staring at the tapestry, the words from Mr. Song’s letter swimming around your brain “look out for the green dragon”. Was this what he meant? Was this the man the envelope had been meant for?

“It is a lovely piece, but I’d like to remind you that we have more pressing matters to discus.” Jiyong’s voice brought you back to earth.

“They don’t call him G-Dragon for nothing, you know!” Seungri said nudging you and directing you into the chair on the other side of the desk. 

“G-Dragon? As in Green Dragon?” Your head felt fit to explode, there was so much happening, your eyes fell onto the desk and your tried to clear your mind and focus but you ended up staring at a picture of Jiyong and Jisoo and suddenly your thoughts picked up speed again. You swallowed, eyes darting between the men, you didn’t know where to start or what to say. Jiyong was frowning at you and Seunghyun looked concerned. Seungri was by your side, hand on your shoulder.

“Hey, are you ok?” He asked you, examining your face, which you were sure displayed your inner turmoil.

“Yeah... Yeah, sorry.” Like someone hitting an organise button in your head, your brain began to file everything in order of highest priority, everything else could wait while there were lives at stake. Afterwards, you would have to make the decision of whether to giver Iron what he wanted or not.

“Well, if we can get down to business..?” Jiyong said, sitting in his chair across from you and fixing his blazer. You tried to clear the blizzard in your mind and concentrate on the task at hand, everything else could be sorted out later, envelopes and cheating girlfriends were secondary to the lives that were currently at stake. “I know you haven’t told me everything about your experiences with Iron and I want you to talk now or I’m going to make you talk.”

Jiyong motioned to Seunghyun and Seunghyun looked back at his boss, obviously confused.

“Call Yano in here, I’ll take it you’re not going to make her talk and I hear he’s quite good at it.”

“Wait, what? No way!” Seungri looked outrage, his grip on your shoulder tightening. You wanted to feel as confused as Seunghyun looked but you guessed this was the only way Jiyong would deal with this situation; mafia style, brute force.

“It was all fine and well for her to hid things from us before our members were directly affected, but things have changed, Seungri, back off.” There was an electric silence as the two stared each other down across the deep mahogany desk. Sparks were almost visible as one man battled to remain a subordinate and the other dared him to make a move. Seungri opened his mouth to say something but Jiyong cut him off. “So help me God, if you try to get in my way I’ll make sure you’re strapped to the chair beside her, Seungri. I get it, I do, she could have died trying to help you live back at the warehouse and I’m grateful to her, I am, but she’s not worth losing an appendage or limb over.”

“I hate to be rude.” You interjected, stomach twisting anxiously at the mention of losing limbs. “But, most people send cards or flowers to show their gratitude not... Not whatever the hell you’re about to have done to me.”

“Then talk.” Jiyong said, glaring at you, his eyes burning deep holes into you and you knew he was about to ask all the wrong questions, and you would not direct him towards the right ones.

“Why is Iron after you?”

“I don’t know.”

“What did you do to get his attention?”

“I don’t know.”

“Get Yano and then get out.”

The yelling and scuffling, shattering of vases and smacking of fists echoed dully in your mind. The darkness that engulfed you magnified nothing and you tried to move your body, assess the situation, remember what had happened after Jiyong ordered Yano into the room and the other men out.

You had been shoved, head smacking of the hard wood floor. Seungri had lunged across the desk, Seunghyun intercepting him. You had gotten up to pull him back and you had been hit, hadn’t you? The vague sensation of being dragged out of the room and away from the erupting chaos trickled over you. Then it hit you. Yano. It all came flooding back. Flashes of the heavy metal chair with leather straps. The sheet placed over your head as ice cold water was poured over your head, almost drowning you. No questions were asked this time. Small slashes made with a scalpel on the webs of your fingers, the knuckles, under your nails, you hadn’t even stopped coughing or gasping for air. He worked fast but he didn’t work to permanently damage. This was a taster, a light example. But now you felt nothing and you saw nothing. Had he beaten you too? Your memory was still hazy. You shivered in the dark, regretting not leading Jiyong to the answers he wanted. You imagined yourself, still strapped to the chair, eyes swollen shut, shivering from the wet and cold. But your hypothesis had to be wrong, your face didn’t sting and when you wrinkled your nose you could feel a fabric scratch against your skin. You were blindfolded, but you were still strapped and shivering.

A noise. A door opening. Footsteps. Then, a hand on your face, burning hot in comparison to the icy flesh of your cheek. “Awh fuck, _____, I’m so sorry, I tried to stop them.” “Seungri...” You flinched against the glare of light that hit your eyes as he removed the blindfold. After a moment you were able to look at him as he undid the restraints. His face was bruised and his lip split, his knuckles were cracked and purpling, but most of all his eyes were conflicted and full of sorrow. You felt like breaking. Everything that had ever happened had led you to hide yourself and become dishonest. Dodging questions or leading people astray, never letting anyone in, never letting anyone know. You had thought it was for the best, hiding everything away inside but now you could see the damage the festering mass was making inside of you. You could barely tell who you were, why you were here or where you were going to go. You didn’t want to be like this, so why were you allowing this behaviour to continue? Why couldn’t you change? You didn’t want anyone else to get hurt, but in trying to prevent that you were only hurting yourself and now, other people were being hurt again. Seungri’s hands cupped your cheeks again and you felt the tears slipping from your eyes, you couldn’t hide. You couldn’t hide yourself and you couldn’t hide your past but you were scared of what exposing either of those things would do. You were so fucking scared. Seungri’s arms wrapped around you as you began to sob openly. Your body hurt, your hands could barely move, and you looked down to find them blue from the cold, purple from bruises and red from dried blood. Why was any of this happening to you? You had grown up in such a normal environment, surrounded by normal people, doing normal things. Your dad had left before you were born but your mom had met a nice man who worked hard as the owner of a quiet bookstore. Your mom was a florist and by all accounts, your biological father had been a businessman. You went to a community school followed by a community college. Your first job was in your stepfather’s bookstore and after college you began work as a member of HR in a hotel. Nothing about your life was exceptional. Nothing was abnormal, at least not until Heon Cheol arrived and tore everything away from you, shredding your soul apart along the way. Seungri pulled away from you and wiped your tears away. His eyes soft and sad. 

“Why won’t you tell us?” “I don’t know... I c- can’t...” You sucked deep breaths in, trying to calm yourself. Seungri pulled off his jacket and wrapped it around you. He remained hunkered down in front of you, one hand on your knee, the other gently stroking your tear-stained cheeks. There were words on the tip of your tongue, threatening to tumbled forward but were held back as he held your gaze. Both of you sat there, in the silence, your sobs subsiding, breathing steadying, his thumb stroking the warming skin of your cheek. He looked as though he had just as much to say to you as you had for him but without words, both your stories were being told quickly and at the same time. You were lost in your own histories, flashes burning through your minds, yet you were both focused on what the other was telling. Seungri’s eyes drew out a map of deep pain and loss, a message that was mirrored in your own eyes. You understood him and he understood you. He was here and he wasn’t going to leave you and you wouldn’t leave him either. Seungri leaned toward your slowly, his hand running away from your cheek, fingers sliding into your hair. You were drawn towards him by some sort of subconscious, magnetic pull.

The cracked skin on his lips couldn’t hide the soft plumpness and the faint tang of copper was almost hidden by the vague taste of spearmint. He was gentle and careful, whether because of his own aches and pains or not. The kiss was unobtrusive, there was no haste or whiney need, it was soft and simple and laced with a deeper emotion. It felt natural and right and for a moment you forgot about your aching ribs, your frozen body, your shredded hands and your broken soul. For a moment you felt home.

Hung Aeri. 

You’ve known her for majority of your life, being classmates in high school and even sharing the same lunch table. It didn’t come as a shock when you found out she had debuted under Cube Entertainment as a solo idol, the whole school knew just how talented she was. She could sing and dance well and her bubbly and kind personality was incredibly attractive, it was the icing on the cake. 

Aeri never forgot her friends even though she had the busiest schedule, the two of you had gone out to try a new waffle bar recently. She even invited you over to her house, just for old times’ sake. You often found yourself waiting outside Cube’s studio in the evening for her and you would go out for dinner together. On occasion, Aeri would invite other trainees or artists. 

She practically introduced you to your current boyfriend, Lai Guanlin. He was a tad bit shy and awkward at your first dinner out as friends, Aeri only made the situation worse as she kept winking and sending sending suggestive looks but he warmed up to you and grew to love you. You owed Aeri so much, she pretty much got your life plan on track. 

So why were you feeling so bitter when Guanlin told you he would be working on a track with her? 

 It hurt, deep down inside. 

As much as you wanted to be happy and as excited as they were, you couldn’t bring yourself to, yet you still faked a smile and congratulated your friends. Guanlin was anticipating the song so much, his debut with Seonho would be happening soon and this would definitely give them a boost as Aeri was a well known singer already. 

“Jagi, why the sad face?” Guanlin poked the sides of your face, grinning. You were curled up on his couch in his living room…in his huge castle-like house. He had invited you over to hangout, nothing much. 

Your mind drifted to how many times he had brought Aeri over. 

Snap out of it Y/N, you scolded yourself. Let’s not think about that. 

You smiled back at Guanlin and reached for his hand. “Nothing, just a bit busy with school, that’s all. Final years are tougher than they look.” Your eyes caught a peep of something that was well hidden by his sweater sleeve, it seemed like ink. Tentatively, you pushed the material back to reveal a realistic looking tattoo. You gasped, glaring at Guanlin. He only chuckled, “Y/N, calm down. It’s only a temporary one. Aeri noona and I got bored and stuck on one part of the song so we looked temporary tattoos up and ordered some ink. Do you like it? Aeri noona did this one for me!” His smile only seemed to widen the more he talked about Aeri. 

Ahhh, the multi talented Hung Aeri. You remembered the times when the teacher caught her doodling in her sketchpad during classes and since you sat next to her, your hand often became a drawing block. She was very quick with small scribbles but the one she did on Guanlin’s arm was intricate and clearly took quite some time. 

The jealously monster in you was being fed very well today. “Ahh, Aeri unnie is good at these kind of things. Yes, it’s very pretty,” you praised, and it was the first truth in awhile. 

Guanlin tucked a stray lock of hair behind your ear. “Never as gorgeous as you,” he declared. “Nothing will ever compare.“ 

You blushed at his cheesy words but that didn’t help the guilt and envy bubbling inside of you.

… 

"Hi! I’m a friend of Hung Aeri and Lai Guanlin. I brought them some cupcakes, could you pass them-”

“Just go in. They’re in studio four.” The annoyed staff who sat behind the counter typing absolutely nothing on her laptop said, dismissing you without a reply.

You rolled your eyes once you were pass the counter, what great security they have here. Or…it could be that you’ve visited too many times everyone here knows you by name. Still, shouldn’t they at least check my ID or get me to sign in? Nevermind. 

“Huh? Y/N!" 

You nearly jumped at the loud exclamation that was made, then realised who it was. 

It was your other good friend, Yoo Seonho. 

"Hello Y/N! You look very pretty today,” Seonho complimented, nearly knocking you over with his famous bear hugs. 

“Aye, you’re only complimenting me because I have cupcakes with me but thank you,” you replied, but softly because Seonho was squeezing the life out of you.

“I missed you Y/N! I’ve been working hard on our debut song! Do you want to hear it?” Seonho offered, taking your arm and strolling to his workroom anyway. 

You laughed and agreed to listen to the song. Knowing how much effort the boys put into it, it was bound to be worth it. Just as you predicted, the music was melodious, it was perfect. “It’s amazing! You will do so well! I’m so proud of you, Seonho,” you praised. “I’ll buy you another box of cupcakes!" 

Seonho perked up at this. "Really? You will?" 

You nodded your head with vigour. "Let’s go right now!”

… 

You felt a sharp nudge in the ribs as you were paying for the cupcakes, you opened your mouth to reprimand Seonho but he put a finger over his lips and bobbed his head to the left. You took a glance at whatever he was looking at.

Aeri. 

Guanlin. 

The two walked close together, giggling and whispering to each other with coffees in hand and her bag in Guanlin’s. They walked pass the cupcake shop Seonho and you were in but barely looked away from each other to take note of their surroundings. 

Your eyes nearly turned green with envy, it took a lot of effort to play it cool.

They’re just friends, Y/N. you reminded yourself. It’s nothing you should be worried about. 

You took Seonho’s arm and walked out of the shop. Guanlin and Aeri had disappeared long ago and you guessed it was back to Cube. 

Whatever. 

“Y/N…” Seonho began in a small voice. When he had caught your attention, he continued. “Are-are you jealous of Aeri noona?" 

The response was immediate, you shot him an ‘oh, c'mon’ look. "What? No way. They’re friends too and I’m super excited for their track! My best friends are working on it together! It really couldn’t be any better. I’m not.” You said it loudly in an attempted to convince yourself too. 

Seonho eyed you, slightly alarmed by your outburst but he shook it off. 

It was a silent journey back to the Cube building - minus Seonho already ripping open his box of cupcakes and devouring them. 

You were refreshing your message inbox, hoping for a message from Guanlin but of course, there was none. 

“You shouldn’t lie to yourself Y/N. I know you are not okay with it.” Seonho’s words cut through the quietness like a knife. 

The both of you reached Cube’s front door, Seonho pushed it open. 

Your jaw dropped. Was I that transparent? But I’m really okay with it. You twiddled your thumbs together. 

“Y/N….you can never lie to me,” Seonho said. 

“Am I that bad?” You asked, ashamed. 

Seonho shook his head and smiled. “No, I’m just one very observant friend. Have you gotten past Guanlin hyung or Aeri noona with your lies?" 

You had to think hard about that one. 

"I think they knew but let it drop. This isn’t something you can let go easily. It’s hard but trust me, Guanlin wouldn’t cheat on you. Believe that." 

Then Seonho spun away and vanished into his workroom with his box of cupcakes like he was never standing in front of you. 

Your mind wandered to what your good friend had said. 

Am I jealous? 

… 

The answer to your question came on Thursday night when Guanlin called you just before you fell asleep. 

You had answered in delight, wanting to talk to him too and it was a rare moment for his busy schedule kept him occupied every minute. You didn’t understand how he could balance so well, it was a blessing. 

However, your happiness was short lived and so was the call. 

Your boyfriend had only called to tell you that he wouldn’t be able to make it for Friday’s date night. He sounded regretful, apologetic and exhuasted so you let it go and told him to rest. Guanlin told you he was still in the studio, still working on the track. You asked about Aeri as you hadn’t talked to her in a long time too. Guanlin replied with a simple ‘she’s tired too but we’re happy to be working together. We’re more than just colleagues now. She misses you as well,”. 

He ended the call and you couldn’t help but have a restless night, knowing that both your friends were beyond bone-tired but still worked so hard. Unable to sleep, you checked Guanlin’s Snapchat story at 1.43 am and found that they were recording, it made you smile. But you couldn’t help but feel you were left out, Aeri had brought along tons of fantastic snacks that seemed to vanish quickly. 

You aren’t an artist Y/N, you’re just a college student. Sigh, look at Aeri unnie, so perfect, so slim and pretty. She can sing and dance well too, what are you? Guanlin probably deserves someone better… someone like Aeri. He’s probably happier with her. 

Aeri’s story was updated at 3.27 am with a picture that made your stomach churn and heart crack. 

It appeared they were spending the night at the studio, she and Guanlin had built a pillow fort and were cuddling inside of it. 

You had never done that with Guanlin. 

There was a video uploaded fifteen minutes later. You tapped on it. 

“Sigh, Guanlin offered to crash at his house since my apartment would be locked by now but I can’t do that to him,” she said and you couldn’t help but notice the terrible eye bags under her eyes and the close proximity between them. She zoomed in on Guanlin’s face, he held up a peace sign. “Goodnight Snapchat." 

It wasn’t a good night for you. You could feel the bitterness bubbling and threatening to spill.

…

Guanlin’s parents ushered you into the house, they were apologetic that they had to leave for a wedding dinner soon but promised to talk another time. 

You loved his parents. 

And so did they. 

You waited for Guanlin to come home, he had left for the studio again in the morning but today was one of the last days so he would be returning early. You texted him to say that you were in his room. 

Saturdays passed by lazily, all you wanted to do was cuddle with Guanlin so he would get some sleep. 

He probably has Aeri for that. 

No, stop it Y/N.

It was around 6 pm when he arrived home, you heard the opening and closing sound of the gate and doors. 

Something puzzled you, Guanlin seemed to be talking to someone. He pushed open the door and spotted you sitting at his desk, his eyes widened in surprise. "Y/N?" 

"Hey, how have you been?” You approached him for a hug which he gave half heartedly. 

“Uh, good. Why are you here? When did you get here?” He looked just as confused as you were. 

“I sent you a text? Did you not get it?” Guanlin scrolled through his phone and nodded. “No, sorry. I did. Aeri noona was playing with my phone just now. I’m sorry Y/N." 

You dismissed it with a wave of your hand and wished all that pent up jealously and guilt would too. "Is she downstairs?” You asked. 

Guanlin nodded, “But not for long. She just wanted to drop a gift off then she’s leaving. You should go say hi,” he added. 

Your 'hi’ wouldn’t be so friendly and you really didn’t want to hurt her.

Thankfully, Aeri yelled a cheerful goodbye and slammed the door shut just as you were halfway down the stairs. 

Guanlin had changed out into a more comfortable set of clothes, grey sweatpants and a black sweater. He sat on his bed and pat the space next to him, inviting you to join him.

A comfortable yet constrained silence settled between you and him. 

“Y/N? Are you angry with me?” He sounded so nervous and guarded you nearly burst into tears. “I’m sorry I haven’t spent as much time with you as I normally do." 

"It’s okay, I bet you enjoy it more with Aeri unnie,” you snapped, then a huge bulk of unease and guilt washed over you. 

You knew Guanlin was unpredictable and wasn’t exactly the best at managing his emotions, you understood, both of you were young. Your face changes as fast as you change outfits. 

Guanlin scoffed. “Are you seriously being like is? We’re friends!" 

"Well, it sure didn’t seem like it. I didn’t know you liked noonas more.” You were upset and angry…and acting purely on emotions. 

“If I did, I’d be dating her by now. Do you not trust me?” Guanlin yelled, jumping off his bed. “Do you trust me Y/N?" 

Your mouth was clamped shut. 

Guanlin chuckled and shook his head. "I knew it. I knew you couldn’t trust me. Do you think i’m so dumb to chase after noonas even when I have a girlfriend? Thanks Y/N. I get it, Aeri noona is gorgeous, she’s talented, she’s all every man wants but guess what, I thought I was doing the right thing by turning her down and being loyal to you. Turns out, you don’t trust me at all. That’s a key point in a relationship but now that I know ours doesn’t have one…I don’t know if I want to keep it,” he growled. 

“Guanlin, wait! I’m sorr-" 

"Save it! I don’t want to hear your damn excuses.”

“It’s not completely my fault! The nights spent together in the studio, cuddling! The tattoo! All those times you went out together looking like a couple! How can you think for a minute that I wouldn’t feel jealous!” You screamed, causing Guanlin to recoil in shock for you had never raised your voice at anyone, especially him. “Lai Guanlin. I’m sorry I didn’t trust you, but it isn’t my fault that I naturally felt envious because my boyfriend was constantly with another woman!" 

"So you’re going to blame me for how you feel? Is that so? Well, Y/N…I’m sorry about that but I’m sure you’re old enough to control your own emotions! God! Who knew I would be dating an emotional bitch?” He spat, running a hand through his hair and huffing in annoyance. 

You were stunned beyond words. Guanlin had never called anyone such a derogatory term. He realised what he had said and immediately, his posture changed. His face fell. “Y/N, I didn’t-" 

"I don’t care! I never thought I’d date an insensitive prick like you!” You pointed a an accusing finger at him, tears already streaming down your cheeks. “To think I wasted all my time and love on you." 

With that, you grabbed your bag and stormed out of his house, ignoring his desperate calls. 

… 

The night reflected how you felt, it was dark and stormy, rain fell from the skies endlessly. All you had been doing was laying face down on your bed, sobbing until your eyes hurt. You were grateful your parents hadn’t posed any questions, your mother had called you out to eat but left quickly when you ignored her. 

You curled up under your blankets, wearing Guanlin’s old sweater. It swamped you but it provided warmth and comfort. The fact that you might never see him again because of a stupid fight made you feel like the worst person in the whole world. You just hoped his friendship with Aeri wouldn’t be affected. 

Knock, knock. 

You refused to answer, pulling your blanket over your head and pretending to be fast asleep despite the rebellious tears that still rolled down your face. Wait, those footsteps are too heavy to be my mum’s…or dad’s. 

Guanlin. 

You kept your mask on even as Guanlin sat next to your bed, he was pretty tall so his face was right next to yours. You felt him lean his head against your bed, his hair nearly tickling your nose. 

"Ahhh Y/N, I was hoping you wouldn’t be asleep but I suppose today’s been really rough for you,” he muttered, not knowing you were listening. “It’s really all my fault. I never meant to yell at you or cause you heartache but I suppose I did and I’m sorry. I’m sorry I called you a bitch, you really aren’t. You’re the best, most awesome and swag girlfriend I could ever ask for. You always know how to handle situations well, I must have pushed you over the edge for you to yell at me like that.” He chuckled softly. 

More tears dampened your pillow. 

“Look at my jagi, crying even as you sleep. Please stop. I hope you aren’t dreaming of what happened today but you probably are and I regret it." 

You felt his fingers brush over your face as he wiped away your tears. 

"There’s a lot I wish I could say when you’re awake but I don’t have the courage to at all. Let’s talk more in the morning. Goodnight Y/N, I love you. Please don’t break up with me,” Guanlin whispered before pressing a soft kiss to your cheek and slumping down beside your bed. 

You were sure he was knocked out cold before you declared, “I would never dream of it." 

Guanlin awoke to you peppering tender kisses all over his face and running your hands through his fluffy hair. He was shocked but pleasantly surprised. 

"Y/N-" 

"I love you too. Let’s not break up." 

He beamed brightly despite how sleepy he was and pulled you in for a tight hug, rubbing circles on the small of your back.

"Goodnight jagi, sweet dreams." 

And in Guanlin’s arms, under your duvet, you sure did.
