Finding Home - Chapter 1
One day, it occurred to me that the moving things I had to push out of the way and fight for the rich, warm, life-giving milk were my siblings. I cannot express my disappointment enough.Â
The day I realized this was the day my blurry eyes opened. As my mother, a pure-black dog with pointed ears, blue eyes, and a thick, double coat, licked my teeny body with her warm pink tongue, I blinked up at her, trying to both clear my foggy eyes and beseech her to get rid of my siblings. I wanted her all to myself, now and forever.Â
It didnât happen, and it did no good to dwell on a dream.Â
As my sight cleared, I grudgingly accepted the othersâ presence in the nest. Which was just as well â they were fun to play with when sleeping got boring or I needed someone to chew on.Â
The first time I tottered out from the warmth of Mother, my paw pads came into a rough, scratchy surface. Several steps later, the rough surface gave way to a surface soft and rough at the same time. It smelled very, very good.Â
Utterly confused, I tried to return to Mother, but I was disoriented from exploring and I yelped with fear. Sharp teeth clamped down on the scruff of my neck, and I whined in pain. But I was returned to Motherâs warmth, which seemed like the important thing. I buried myself under a sister and fell asleep.Â
I had learned the hard way that I couldnât return to Mother without her, so the second I woke up from my nap I left her again. She sighed deeply as she set me down, but I could sense that she liked my adventurous spirit.Â
There was a man who came by our kennel every day. He had a mop of sandy brown hair on his head, deep amber-gold eyes, and scars criss-crossing his hands and face. Some days he entered the kennel and looked us over, running his hands down our backs and talking to us. Other days, he stood just outside it, strange dogs lashed to his waist, checking something off on a thin slab of wood. The black belt had two rings on its front, and dog leashes extended from each one, ending on the dogsâ collars or harnesses.Â
From the moment I was old enough to see him clearly for the first time, I was mesmerized by the man. I longed to be one of the dogs by his side, going who knows where and loving every second of it. I longed to feel his hand in my fur every single day for the rest of my life. There was a reason I loved him so much. I could feel it deep inside my tiny body.Â
As a result, every day, I was the first puppy at the kennel door whenever I so much as smelled him, and the last one to leave after he was gone. The days he didnât enter the kennel were the worst days of my life.Â
As we entered that stage of life where we never wanted to be near Mother yet always wanted her around, the man began to let us out of the kennel for short periods of time.Â
Directly in front of our kennel door was a long stretch of grass that I mentally called the Yard. The Yard was grassy and full of excellent smells, which made me jump inside whenever I smelled the man over them. We had a full run over the Yard despite what seemed like hundreds of other dogsâ smells.Â
A chain-link fence divided the Yard into two parts. On our side, it was Mother, my three brothers, and my four sisters. On the other side, it was what looked like hundreds of dogs, each of them resembling each other in build and general looks, but each of them being completely different. Some of them had lots of black and very little white. Others had lots of white and very little black. A few were a pale, creamy white color. One of them, who I determined through careful examination to be the Top Dog, was light red-brown with thick strokes of deep red on his shoulders and topline.Â
Every day after we were let out into the Yard, the man would enter our kennel, clip a leash onto Motherâs collar, and hold her back while he let us run free in the Yard. When we had finished feeding on the soft goop he brought us as food, he would let her run free with us.Â
As the days stretched into weeks, he began to lead Mother out of the Yard and let her roam in the Big Yard. The first time this happened, we ran like mad on our side of the fence while Mother reacquainted herself with the pack. As this happened more often, we began to not care.Â
We didnât notice when Mother never returned.Â
The man seemed to like me more than the other puppies. He always called me âProngs,â as if that was a special word I was supposed to respond to. The name felt natural and familiar, and as the weeks stretched into months, I grew so used to the sound that I turned toward him every single time my sharp ears heard it.Â
The snow we had grown so used to seeing over the course of our short lives was beginning to melt the day everything changed.Â
The man entered the Yard with a collar and leash in hand. The collar was nylon, and fit close to my neck. He had a stiff leash in his other hand, which, after sliding the collar over my head and adjusting it to fit my neck, he snapped on to lead me away from my siblings.Â
They rushed the fence after the man closed the gate, but none of them managed to escape. (Which was good â perhaps if they had escaped, I never would have learned my place with the man.)Â
The man turned his back on the other puppies, and I paced before him. I was unused to being outside the kennel, and it was a strange feeling to have freedom without any freedom.Â
âProngs,â the man said, in a tone that was strangely soothing. I had been hearing this man speak my entire life, and yet, this was a way my name had been spoken that I had never heard before.Â
I decided I liked it.Â
The man offered me his hand to sniff, and though I knew his scent by heart, I stopped pacing and sniffed it politely.Â
Trying to understand what he wanted, I wagged, looking up and meeting his deep amber gaze. With his left hand, he held my leash, preventing me from leaving his side. My eyes left his for a moment, drinking in the surroundings that were so familiar from inside the Yard, and so different now that I stood outside it.Â
âProngs,â the man said again. I looked up at him and wagged harder. He reached out and rubbed his hand on my head.Â
I noticed he was wearing the black belt again. (In the days to come, I would think of that belt as The Belt. He always wore it when we were training.) I wagged even harder at his touch.Â
The man started walking, his hand still gripping my leash. As the collar tightened on my neck, I decided I had no choice but to follow. The shortness of the leash prevented me from walking too far ahead of him, and stopped me from falling behind.Â
âGood boy, Prongs,â the man said.Â
The training continued in that fashion until I could reliably walk at his left side at a loose hold. In the first few days, I tried to chew through the leash, but the cable-filled rope was uncomfortable against my puppy teeth, and I stopped.Â
The man switched out my leash for a looser, more comfortable walking leash. It kept me closer to his side, but I found it didnât bother me so long as my collar was loose and comfortable. I learned the command âheel,â which translated to âstay by my left side at all times.â I also learned âon by,â which instructed me to ignore whatever I found interesting.Â
One day the man came to the Yard with a new piece of equipment; a harness. The red harness settled over my chest and shoulders, and was padded everywhere it touched my body. I loved it.Â
The man snapped a leash to my collar and to the back of my new red harness and taught me a new command that day â âline out.â It meant âput pressure on the harness and stand in front of me.âÂ
The new command was only ever used in harness. I learned to employ the pressure whenever I heard Line Out. It became second nature for me, and so easy to perform I felt as if Iâd been doing it my whole life. (Which, in a way, I had, but I didnât think about that. Such Deep Thoughts were not for a dog to think about.)Â
The day my brother was taken, everything changed once again.Â
It wasnât his fault. The man had been training him as diligently as he was training me. If anything, it was the ladyâs fault.Â
Every so often, new people would come to the manâs house. These people would pace around our Yard, examining the dogs in the Big Yard. Some dogs were shut up in their kennels, while others were let out in the Big Yard. Sometimes dogs left, and sometimes dogs didnât.Â
The ones that left never came back.Â
The first few times the people came, my siblings and I were kenneled together. The fourth time they came, my sisters were kenneled next to us. Shortly after this, I was taken to a place that reeked of chemicals, and for days afterward I was forced to wear a stupid, flimsy plastic collar and my belly hurt terribly. My brothers, fortunately, all suffered the same treatment that I did, and we were all relinquished by the terrible pain soon afterwards.Â
The people would admire us, and sometimes certain dogs were taken out of their kennels and paraded around by the man. It was never my siblings who were taken out. We were deemed too important to be taken, and it never crossed my mind that we would be. Of course, that was not to be.Â
The lady pulled up in a blue pickup truck. Our kennels were placed behind the Yard, so the only way to get to the kennels without going through the Yard was by a door leading to a hallway that enclosed the kennel we were raised in, which currently stood empty.Â
The lady was led into the Feeding Area, as I had mentally deemed it, and was led down the aisle to the kennel I shared with my brothers. The man entered our kennel, slipped a collar around my brother Kodaâs neck, and led him out to show the lady. (To this day, I cannot remember what she looked like, only that she smelled like dogs.)Â
She made impressed noises and took Kodaâs leash from the man. âI have high hopes for this one, Remus,â she said, âas I always do for one of yours.âÂ
The man, Remus, made a fake little bow that I saw through at once. âOf course. I do my best with all of my pups.â I hated his tone, and shuddered inwardly. I made a vow to ignore him if I ever heard that tone again.Â
The lady gave a stupid little laugh and turned away. I never saw her, or my brother, again.Â
Koda wasnât my only birth brother to leave. Eventually, I was the only one of my litter to have stayed at Remusâ place. I continued on in my training, eventually improving enough to be given a new harness. This one went from the middle of my withers to the base of my tail, and made an X over my back. I loved it even more than my old one.Â
The day I was given the new harness, I was attached to a team for the first time. The harness was slipped over my collar, my paws were put through the holes, and it was pulled down my body to rest against my shoulder blades. Remus led me over to a dog he called Hera, one of the older females of the adult pack.Â
Hera had a predominantly white coat with a few flecks of black and grey along her topline. Her left paw was jet-black, giving the impression that it was coated in something foul. Hera greeted me with a kind wag, allowing Remus to snap me into place beside her.Â
There were eight other dogs, aside from Hera, on the team. All of them were older and bigger than me. Hera and I were just in front of two big, burly males named Geralt and Loki.Â
Remus stood behind Geralt and Loki, on a big vehicle that smelled like gasoline and had a thick rope attached to it. The rope ran up between all of us dogs, a black line that kept us running together. Shorter black ropes sprang out from along its length and snapped to the ends of dog harnesses ahead of me. I could only guess that Remus had attached a black rope to the back of my harness as well. A black rope that extended next to me was looped around the mainline and snapped to my collar. Beside me, Heraâs collar was attached to the same black rope. Even though I had grown used to Remus running behind me, and had grown used to pressure in the harness, I had a feeling that Iâd be experiencing something entirely different.Â
And I was correct. âLine Out!â Remus ordered, and I walked forward, placing pressure in my harness. Beside me, Hera did the same, and behind us, I felt Geralt and Loki following the command as well.Â
âReady!â Remus called, and suddenly Hera was tensing her muscles. I felt lost. Iâd never been taught that word before. I leaned harder into the harness, hoping it was enough. Behind me, Geralt and Loki backed up against the vehicle behind them, pulling the harness even deeper against my body.Â
âHIKE!â Remus bellowed.Â
Startled, I jumped into action, straining against the harness. Hera started to trot, and I followed her lead, keeping the pressure in my chest as Iâd been taught.Â
We ran for only half an hour, and it was the best day Iâd ever had. When it was over, I danced with pride when Remus came to remove me from the team.Â
âYou liked that, Prongs, didnât you?â Remus asked, laughing as I jumped up to lick his face. âYeah, you did. Good boy. Good boy.âÂ
I was a good boy, but I was also something even better.Â
I was a sled dog.

individual showjumping final! this course was gorgeous in all respects (especially love the wall that looks like the notre dame rose windows) (and the curled-up lizard topiary thing. love that guy) and also tricky as all hell. only three riders went double clear (bc the oxers are massive and the striding is so so technical).
Canada: Mario Deslauriers on Emerson. i love watching the jumpers move - theyâre so forward. two sets of reins. nicely in time, but two rails down.Â
Germany: Phillipp Weishaupt on Zineday. drop noseband. some gape between fences. one second over, one rail down.Â
Argentina: Jose Maria (jr) Larocca on Finn Lente. started rough with a knocked rail, and the combinations really got them. one second over, five rails down.Â
UK: Ben Maher on Dallas Vegas Batilly. mare! nose net. froth. i love watching this mare; sheâs got so much scope and so much try. in time, one rail. Just caught the oxer in the double. Â
USA: Laura Kraut on Baloutinue. came in nice and quiet, and Baloutinue seems fairly settled. i think sheâs my favorite rider in the field. fighting a little in the turns. he tries so hard to keeps his legs out of the way over the last fence but it doesnât quite work. in time, one rail.Â
Austria: Max Kuehner on Elektric Blue P. drop noseband, froth. gape. also knocks the last fence - i think the riders are going to have to take that extra second to come at it perfectly straight. one rail, in time.Â
France: Simon Delestre on I Amelusina R 51. rough start, knocks the first fence. gape. coming in close to the red flag on most of these fences. god thatâs so much gape. in time, two rails.Â
Germany: Christian Kukuk on Checker 47. i do love watching the jumpers move but so many of them are hyperflexed before the round starts and that i could do without. lots of gape -Â there are so many stride adjustments in this course. rattles a rail on the double combination, but it stays. double clear!
Belgium: Gregory Wathelet on Bond Jamesbond de Hay. still love this name. hackamore! couldnât quite clear the water. very fast round. two rails.Â
Netherlands: Maikel van der Vlueten on Beauville Z. little awkward over the double combination - think it was a long spot. making full use of the space. double clear.Â
UAE: Omar Abdul Aziz al Marzooqi on Enjoy de la Mure. little bit of froth. looked like a touch of sass in one of the lead changes (we've all ridden that). clever striding. in time, two rails. lots of pets for Enjoy as they leave.Â
Japan: Takashi Hasse Shibayama on Karamell M&M. rolls the first rail out of its cups, knocks fence two and both in the double combo. elects (smartly) to retire.Â
Saudi Arabia: Ramzy al Duhami on Untouchable 32. mare! gape - i can see her tongue in the close-ups. this mare is scopey as all hell - only knocks the oxer in the first double combination. in time, one rail.Â
Mexico: Andres Azcarraga on Contrendros 2. having trouble over the oxers. takes the turn to the water fast and just slides to a stop; Azcarraga comes off.Â
Brazil: Rodrigo Pessoa on Major Tom. Major Tom has braids in. starts a little under speed/behind the leg. knocks two rails, elects to retire.
USA: Karl Cook on Caracole de la Roque. mare! one of the hackamore girlies (and her noseband is fuzzy!). still donât like her topline. theyâre fighting about speed - Caracole has Opinions. the turn to the card suite jumps is awkward and the combination doesnât go well. in time, two rails.Â
Belgium: Gilles Tomas on Ermitage Kalone. nose net. nice quiet feeling round. in time, two rails down.Â
Norway: Victoria Gulliksen on Mistral van de Vogelzang. having a Moment before the round starts. double combination literally trips them up - thought they were both going to fall trying to get over the oxer in the double combination. half a second over, two rails down.Â
Brazil: Stephan de Frietas Barcha on Primavera. mare! two sets of reins. fast around the turn to the water, some speed discussions in the ensuing fences. scrapes her way through the triple combination and the card suite fences, but she makes it! really using that fifth leg. if you click with a mare, she will do anything for you. in time, one rail.Â
UK: Scott Brash on Jefferson. his stripe and snip are so cool. drop noseband. knocks the oxer in the double combination. in time, one rail down.Â
Saudi Arabia: Abdulrahman Alrajhi on Ventago. red ribbon. lots of stride adjustments. ttâs a bit of a slog for them today and you can feel it. uses all of his space to the card suite jumps. one second over, one rail down.Â
Netherlands: Kim Emmen on Imagine. two sets of reins. first rail comes down. heâs tired - this is his fourth round this week. in time, three rails down.Â
Italy: Emanuele Camilli on Odense Odeveld. hackamore? i think? shadow roll. first rail down. handles the double combination nicely. in time, three rails.Â
Sweden: Henrik von Eckermann on King Edward. nose net. makes it through the water and following line by sheer force of will only for King Edward to make a wrong turn. little bit of discussion about it, then Eckermann comes off and takes the bridle with him. insists on leading King Edward back himself (we love to see it). Edward is still worked up - Eckermann is using the elbow in the neck trick to make space. yeah been there (regularly).
Switzerland: Steve Guerdat on Dynamix de Belheme. mare! gape. she is bound and determined to make this course her bitch. good for her! double clear.Â
Switzerland: Martin Fuchs on Leone Jei. drop noseband. looked like Fuchs almost came off in the double combination and he lost a stirrup. almost swings left (same as King Edward) but recovers. in time, one rail down. out of the medals, but that was some impressive riding.Â
Netherlands: Harrie Smolders on Uricas V/D Kattenvennen. froth. some gape. heâs trying but heâs tired. two time penalties, one rail.Â
Ireland: Daniel Coyle on Legacy. mare! love her. sheâs ready to get it done. froth. stretching down in the turn to the card suite fences. i think the striding gets fucked up, they knock the next four fences (card suite combination and the two after it). Coyle elects to retire.Â
Ireland: Shane Sweetnam on James Kann Cruz. converter reins. knocks the oxer in the double combination, runs into trouble in the triple. in time, three rails down.Â
France: Julien Epaillard on Dubai du Cedre. mare! our other hackamore girlie đ her blaze is fantastic. arguing about speed.sShe's scopey as hell and putting everything in. not quite steady enough to the second card suite fence. in time, one rail.
#horses#showjumping#olympics#paris 2024#gotta say it's nice to see riders actually retire when it's not worth pushing their horses to finish (looking at you dressage)

showjumping individual qualifiers here we go:
Israel: Isabella Russekoff on C Vier 2. Micklem (or adjacent) bridle. pretty lighter bay. he spooks (or âspooksâ) shortly after the final fence.Â
Canada: Mario Deslauriers on Emerson. that turn to the âbonjour parisâ wall is Tight. in time, only one rail down. Deslauriers has been doing this forever so that really doesnât surprise me. double reins on an elevator or pelham bit.Â
Lithuania: Andrius Petrovas on Linkolns. Linkolns decided something about that jump or the course was not worth it and Petrovas retired. good for him!
Mexico: Andres Azcarraga on Contrendros 2. dropped a stride before the water and still cleared it - horses like that are the best. first double clear round! and an extra little buck.Â
Sweden: Henrik von Eckermann on King Edward. Oh thatâs right he goes in a nose fly net thing. King Edward is Going today - âjumping out of his skinâ yeah youâre right. definitely saw Eckermann grab mane.Â
Spain: Ismael Garcia Roque on Tirano. drop noseband. lots and lots of air on Tiranoâs part. only one rail down.Â
France: Olivier Perreau on Dorai dâAiguilly. mare! some froth i think. this girl is here to Get It Done. knocked a rail on the last fence. elevator-type bit with converter reins.Â
Saudi Arabia: Abdulrahman Alrajhi on Ventago. ah a kicker. tapped a rail but went clear and in time. froth.Â
Austria: Gerfried Puck on Naxcel V. okay iâm sure those fly mask things are blinkers but i canât get a close enough look to confirm. drop noseband. much discussion from this pair - Naxcel has his own plans it seems. elevator-type bit with two sets of reins.Â
Japan: Eiken Sato on Conthargo-Blue. red ribbon. Disagreements after the water and over the red vertical. drop noseband, elevator-type bit with double reins. retires on course.Â
USA: Karl Cook on Caracole de la Roque. mare! one of the two mares going in a hackamore. her topline still bothers me. double clear. every time iâve seen this mare she gets shit done.Â
Netherlands: Maikel van der Vleuten on Beauville Z. came in a little wiggly to that second jump (weâve all been there). only one rail down and a 70 second course.Â
Ireland: Shane Sweetnam on James Kann Cruz. would like a better look at that bridle. they are tearing through the course in style - no rails in 73.35 seconds.Â
Belgium: Jerome Guery on Quel Homme de Hus. converter reins. one rail down, four seconds under time.Â
Switzerland: Edouard Schmitz on Gamin Vanât Naastveldhof. quick buck as they get going. two rails down, four seconds under.Â
UK: Harry Charles on Romeo 88. always interesting to see which horseâs manes get braided for showjumping and which don't (Romeo 88 doesnât). the double noseband situation bothers me, and also it seems like you could just use a flash. blinkers. double clear. some bucks just for funsies.Â
Norway: Victoria Gulliksen on Mistral van de Vogelzang. Mistral has things to say about the rein contact - tons of head shaking between fences. froth. double clear.Â
Australia: Hilary Scott on Milky Way. mare! pretty gray. i donât think she has a throatlatch. knocked two rails - one in the double combination and one in the triple combination.Â
Poland: Dawid Kubiak on Flash Blue B. shadow roll and hackmore. blinkers maybe? two rails down.Â
Denmark: Andreas Schou on Napoli VH Nederassenthof. Schouâs shoulders look a little slumped as they come in - kinda odd, for how much we worry about our posture. maybe i'm seeing things. knocks a rail on the last fence.Â
Germany: Christian Kukuk on Checker 47. buck. pretty dapples. two rails, i think.Â
Brazil: Rodrigo Pessoa on Major Tom. iâm not going to make a built-in sponsor joke. or a Space Oddity joke. iâm not. lovely jump. double clear. i think Major Tom is the third? horse iâve seen with his fly bonnet tied to the noseband so it wonât flap.Â
UAE: Salim Ahmed al Suwaidi on Foncetti VD Heffinck. froth. Micklem adjacent bridle. lots of praise after the round. four rails down.Â
Israel: Robin Muhr on Galaxy HM. two rails down. interesting how there are so many dark bays/blacks in dressage but considerably fewer in jumping.Â
Canada: Erynn Ballard on Nikka VD Bisschop. mare! big bold blaze. entered the ring fairly quietly. extra little kick over the jumps. i like this pair.
#horses#showjumping#it's a little harder to make tack assessments when they - horses and program both - are going this fast#25 riders per rotation can you believe it#olympics#paris 2024

well, opinions are opinions and we can't make people like what we like. i also want to pick your brain about hit! i personally felt that the song was just a bit too generic sounding and disorganized for my taste, but others have been absolutely raving about it because of its style. any thoughts? (good or bad, maybe both!)
iâll answer both asks here! and i agree opinions are opinions to each their own^^ my opinions about hit under the cut! apologies for how late this is and for how long it got to be;;
honestly the song that i was expecting is not the song that we got ahhhahaa i too felt a sense of disorganization i think my first impression of the song was that it felt kind of unfocusedâŚthe main melodic topline part of the song like the actual vocal parts of the song (not the instrumentals) i just felt like wasnt able to mesh properly with the compositional part underneathâŚwhich i felt was the main contributor to this disjointed feeling that was felt perhaps? i dont know i just feel like if u ignore the vocals and focus on the instrumental, it flows a lot better. that falsetto in the prechorus both timesâŚi am not a big fan of the choice of register for that partâŚ.prechorus in general is probably my least favorite part of the songalso not sure how necessary the âwoahsâ were in the chorus. i loved the other miscellaneous vocal noises like whoever was doing that âooh ooh oohâ and then woozis little thing that he does here  but the woahsâŚthose woahsâŚim kind of curious how the chorus sounds without it and what the reasoning behind putting in those woahs in were because it just felt like too much at times for me the chorus is already so many layered sounds and then we get the woahs on top of thatâŚlike is it supposed to serve as a counter melody to one of the main melodic figures thats in the bridge with the chants + in the chorus in the synths  (which i love that they did!!! taking the melodic line in the synth and convert it into a melodic vocal line thats a lot of fun^^) to me the woahs sound more interesting if i treat it as a countermelody but it also just might have been a way to make the chorus sound less repetitive since we get the chorus twice, but the second time is just a dance break (but then again there are other compositional differences too like that alskdj idk what the name of the synth is but its like what id classify as almost a laser gun sound? laksdj pewpewpewww sound start up high once the dance break starts again indicating change) and also getting out of the bridge the âlet me drop the musicâ line that woozi says is followed by wonderful musical silence which i adore but alksdjlk those woahs start earlier and the break that you think youre gonna get you dont and the musical silence becomes more an instrumental pause which might have been the point but still laskjd im curious as to how this chorus thing would have worked without woahsthis is probably just a very very very very!!! personal opinion and experience but the bridge kind of scares me a bit alskj like the parts before the chanting that says âbreatheâ over and over again maybe its the nasality combined with whatever vocal effect theyre using + how slow the buildup is rising but laksdj thats just me i guess haha i do agree we need a bit of a chill section for the bridge to i guess rebuild tension and things like that but again execution of the vocal line akdjlakjd but! loved the chants that followed for the reason i stated above^^its such a fun way to build hype and also that parallelism in the synth and what theyre saying vocally. though part of me does wonder how this chant would have sounded as a buildup in the verses but im not mad about it not being there because the buildup in the verse is shorter and you get to the point more quickly instead of dragging it out which is probably more needed for verses like i can see the reasoningi love the dance break section of the chorus so much though! definitely my favorite bit of the song ! esp in the first chorus when they do the brrrrr i wonder why they didnt keep that in for the last chorus haha. the dance break really fits the intensity of the composition at that part and im honestly really looking forward to seeing the full choreo to see how much itâll take and expand on from the musical composition (no svt song is complete without choreo ever ahaha)im still on the fence i guess about how i feel about this song because there are things that are definitely my taste! like the dance break part of the chorus, and then there are things that im kinda super iffy about like the prechorus hahah and for me personally it really does sound unfocused at times and honestly i also got an overwhelming sensation of overstimulation?? which could be the point it is like dance/club music but alkdj idk at times i feel like i was listening to /too/ much but maybe its just because its the type of music im not used to listening to^^thank you guys for asking though and im super sorry this got long! would love to hear your thoughts on it though for sure^^

Fun little cross-training session for Vigri today, popping over some little jumps. A great stretch for his topline and a fun way to prepare for the GMHA Hunter pace, which has a number of optional fences - usually we opt to pop over a few of them just for the fun of it đ Vigri is naturally slightly right-side-contracted which is something we work on addressing through his training. Still, it is possible to see that it is easier for him to find his distances and organize his body over fences to the right as opposed to the left. As this is for cross-training purposes and not his primary sport, we focus on the physical benefit of the exercise and keep the fences small - this is not a test of how high or fast we can push things, rather a fun and different way to stretch and exercise his body and mind.

The Best Nights Are Filled With Stars. (1/?)
King! Bucky x reader
Words; 1000ish.
Every year a party is thrown in the King's Palace, in which all the unmated people who're aged between 18 and 30 years should attend. Everybody thinks that the king throw this party to help them find their mates. Little did they know that it's for his own sake.
One - Two - Three - Four
The mate finding party or as people call it 'The MFP'. It's a party in which the king throw at his palace to help the unmated loners find their mates. I myself have always wanted to attend it but not to find my mate. It's all about the things my sister always gab about, the music, the dances, the food and that one more thing she talks about the most. The Alpha King.
I've never seen him myself but I always hear people talk about him. Shoulder length brown hair, greyish-blue eyes, plumb lips, deep and dominant voice, tall with wide shoulders and muscular form. Everything about him screams 'ALPHA KING'
I sigh as I sip on my drink. The party is within a week and there's a lot of things that need to be done. I take another sip just when my sister entered the kitchen. She looked at me and smirked. "Good morning, you" she poked my head and head to the fridge.
"I can tell that you're thinking. I can see the gears running in your head" I laughed as I shake my head. Ever since I became 18 she'd always tease me and annoy me more than ever. Wiggling her eyebrows every now and then, making kissing faces and imagining how my mate would look like.
"Ok! You've to get your dress from the dressmaker. Oh! And I'm the one who's going to do your hair and makeup, none of your friends...damn you're growing up"I groan and rest my head on the kitchen table. " calm down it's not like I'm getting married."
She scowled and rest her hands on her hips. "No, you're not getting married, yet! But hopefully, you're going to meet you mate and darling mate or not first impressions are important. They'll remember it their whole life" oh yeah, first impressions.
I chuckled to myself as I remember her 'first impression' with her mate, Sam. She was wearing a 4'5" inches high heels and she was walking with wiggling legs the whole night and just when she locked eyes with Sam she tripped and fell down. Thankfully Sam was fast enough to swipe her off her feet and hold her safely in his arms. After that, she spent the next two months with him without visiting me once. Having a possessive beta as a mate and all.
"But I'm not stupid enough to wear something I can't walk in and trip over myself"
"Agh! Please, Sam is teasing me enough for the both of you" I laugh as I place my cup in the sink, telling her that I'll be meeting with my friends.
I met up with Natasha and Wanda at a coffee shop. They were talking about how they want their dresses to look like. I, myself was excited but not as much as these two. Even though Natasha had met her mate already she still attends the party due to having her mate working in the palace.
They are talking about colours. Red, yellow, grey, pink, purple, etc. I rolled my eyes telling them that they should hurry up and buy the dresses. I already have my dress made. A blue dress with a Square topline that hugs my body to the waist and then flows down to the floor with pearls decorating the waistline and a diagonal line on the breast.
"Now let's go to the shops, I shall buy the prettiest lilac dress there" she jumped on her feet, ready to march towards the shops.
"OK. But first things first. I'll visit the dressmaker to fit and get my dress and then I'll meet you at the shops"
They nodded and then we went our separate ways. I walk down the street looking at the shops beside me, not noticing the person who's coming my way. I bumped into their chest. I took a few steps back to prevent myself from falling.
"I'm sorry! Forgive me, I wasn't looking where I was going" I looked up, my eyes roam over the kingdom's official uniform, muscular body and up to their blue eyes. "oh, no! My Lady, I'm the one who's supposed to apologize. I was in a rush I didn't notice you"
I smiled as I step aside telling him that his apology is accepted.
"If I wasn't in a rush I would have apologized properly, My Lady. But duty is calling" I smiled again and bowed my head slightly as I watch him go on his way and I continue mine.
After getting the dress and meeting with the girls at the shops I went back home, Sam and my sister are sitting at the dining table, food is neatly placed on the table. "smells delicious, sis! "
I skip to my room to hang my dress and put down the new heels I've bought. I went downstairs and sat down with them. We had dinner in silent except for the few words me and Sam exchanged about how to handle annoying people. Although they both didn't talk, the way they look at each other didn't go unnoticed.
After cleaning the table and washing the dishes I made my way up to my room. I light up candles and placed them on the fence of the balcony and I watched the sky. It's going to be a full moon within a few days.
I sigh as my eyes roam around the forest in front of me, noticing a figure walking smoothly between the trees. I focused on the person. Broad shoulders and a form of a man. I leaned on the fence as I look at him closely. Suddenly his eyes locked with mine. Yellow shining orbs staring right at my soul.
