I’ve spent a long time now sorting through screenshots, behind the scenes footage, designers portfolios, and I think I’ve deciphered the map of Ambrose.
Starting on the left side of the street, there’s a hardware/outdoor store, noted by the wheelbarrow outside and assorted parts on the shelves.

Connected to that is a small plaza with a Dentist’s office (the window stickers mention denture prices), a diner with outside seating, and what appears to be a bar judging from the bar stools in the window. It may be connected to the diner.

Finally for the end section of the strip, this shop is less clear, but based on the sign that ends in “-ium” and the button tufted display, I’m guessing this is a premium/high end store or some kind of emporium.

Directly across the street from that is a club. The window faces the street, and around back is the entrance. Also in this plaza is the pet store Carly walks to, a drug store, the grocery store (Flannery’s) that Nick goes to, and a barber shop.

Crossing the street again, there’s a large bowling alley.

Surrounding the bowling alley are residential homes as it transitions into neighborhood territory. You can tell from the fences around these homes that they aren’t public property. The one directly next to bowling lanes is the green house that the wax woman looks through the window of.

Crossing the street again, this part was already labeled by the lighting plot, but that’s the garden (really just some dead shrubs and a gazebo,) the cemetery, and the church. There’s also a second building on the church property that shares the same sidewalk. Although it looks completely nondescript, buildings like this connected to church property would usually be used for non-worship activities like Sunday school, community events like meetings, or funeral services (though Trudy’s viewing is right in the main church, so that’s less likely.)

With the church as a reference point, going back down the opposite side of the street, there’s what looks to be some kind of fashion or accessories store. In the window, I see wig heads wearing hats, and maybe some shoes. I found a sketch of a storefront that also reminds me of perfume bottles and shoes, so the idea was at least considered.

Obviously as the two buildings have back to back doors, next to this is the Guns & Ammo store that Nick and Carly break into. This also connects directly to the movie theater.

The theater is also connected to a small electronics store on the other side.

Directly across from that would be Bo’s gas station. There’s a huge advertisement right next to the station for financing loans, but the front of the building it’s painted on shows its a media video/music store. (ps the yellow truck Vincent drives is the “company” tow truck for the station.)

Connected in a plaza with the video store is a dry cleaner and, based on context clues, a furniture store. In the possibly furniture store window, there appears to be rolled up rugs or carpets, and a large wooden shelf. The strange point of view of the shot where these shops are visible seems to imply that the businesses once had apartments over top, or at least that things are being hoarded in the upper floors.
Across the alley street from that is a fire station, connected with city hall. This is where the Miss Ambrose posters were displayed. On each side, there are blue garage doors, possibly with more emergency vehicles for the town.

The House of Wax and the Sinclair house are placed at higher reliefs than the other businesses and homes, symbolizing their importance and once, their wealth and celebrity status.
#analysis#reference#house of wax#house of wax 2005#bo sinclair#vincent sinclair#lester sinclair#these pictures. are so blurry. I enlisted help in identifying some of these because damn. I’m too blind for this#BUT I’ve always been confused about Ambrose so#hope this helps anybody else on the planet as much as it helped me

The Prowler.
The Shadow of the Boroughs.
The Menace of the Elite.
The Prowler was considered the greatest thief of all time, striking fear in all the rich in New York as they clutched their bank accounts and invaluable antiquity. Whatever item they had– cash, jewelry, paintings, anything of value– he would steal from them, no questions asked. Even worse for them, no matter how much money they spend on security, no matter how much they pressure the police department to hunt down the criminal, the Prowler would always escape from their grasp.
Despite the public outcry from the police and the wealthy, to their dismay, the Prowler is a beloved vigilante to the rest of the Boroughs– dropping off bags of money to schools throughout the poorer neighborhoods, gifting paintings and food to old community centers, hooking up his own gadgets as a security system throughout the city and having it be better than the NYPD’s.
At least to a young Aaron Davis, the Prowler– despite being a criminal– was a damn hero of the city in his eyes. He was a whole lot better than those bullshit cops, who only pop up at the wrong damn time and harass you when there are literally other crimes out there. At least the Prowler actually gives back to the community.
If Aaron could, he would join the Prowler. Hell, he even has his own gear made up of tossed out electronic devices and some fabric he rummaged through the back of an old phone store (to the annoyance of his older brother), and he thought he could get that chance when the Prowler landed on top of a purse-snatcher, knocking the masked man out on the ground while an old lady hobbles over to grab her bag. The Prowler briefly glanced up at Aaron, who was ditching school at the time, through his screen mask before pushing himself up from the ground, towering over the lanky teen, and started to rush off to an alleyway.
With quick thinking, Aaron slid a small tracker in one of the Prowler’s pockets, putting his pickpocket skills to use, before the purple vigilante disappeared from his sight. Adrenaline flooded through the teen as Aaron pulled his phone out for the GPS app and ran after the masked man.
He actually saw the Prowler, he was not gonna let this opportunity pass by. He was finally going to meet the vigilante who the whole city has their eyes on with fear and respect.
At least, Aaron thought that at the time.
However at this moment, to Aaron’s dismay, the same purple-cladded punk vigilante he revered for so long is sitting in front of him in a community center, wincing from one of his twin daughters pulling at his dreads with ribbons in her little hands while the other one paints his nails (and the rest of his fingers) with glittery pink paint.
“Daddy! Stop moving!” one of the girls whines as she struggles to tie half of his locs with a long blue ribbon, her small afro-puffs bobbing back and forth. “The ribbon keeps getting loose…”
A small huff of laughter leaves the older man’s lips before he glances over his shoulder at the upset hairdresser, “Billie, ’m staying as still as I can–”
“Daddy…” the other girl quietly interrupts with a sad pout jutting from her lips, holding up his sparkly fingers with her own paint-covered hands, “can I start over? I made it look ugly…”
The father’s eyes soften as he gazes down at his other daughter before he lets out a quick scoff. “Oh, come now, Mona! M’ nails look proper good, innit?”
Billie quickly pops her head over her father’s shoulder with a curious glint in her eyes before letting out a loud gasp. “Mon-mon! Where’d you find the glitter?! Can you paint mine too?”
…what the hell is going on?
Aaron continues to stare at the baffling– and albeit heartwarming– scene in front of him, with any cool image of the Prowler permanently marred by pink glitter and sugary sweet praises from the older man.
This soft ass unc is the Prowler?
The Prowler is supposed to be a terrifying, snarky badass who wreaked havoc throughout New York– not some girl-dad getting bullied into getting his nails done and his hair tied up in ponytails by some preschoolers.
Before the young teen could pull his eyes away from the saccharine sight and drag himself out the metal doors, two small chubby arms wrap around his calf, and Aaron nearly jumps out of his scuffed up knock-off sneakers before looking down. A pair of wide chocolate-brown eyes peer up at him through a curtain of black coils before a happy giggle vibrates through the little baby boy.
“Kitt!”
Aaron instantly raises his hands up in the air with panic flooding his eyes, looking up to see you running through the metal double doors with relief as you pick up the cooing baby. “Kitt, you can’t just wander away from Mama…”
Your eyes flick up to the sweating, nervous boy in front of you, but you merely smile as you gently bounce your son in your arms. “Sorry about that, my son tends to latch onto legs.”
Aaron quickly shakes his head while glancing over his shoulder, trying not to lose sight of the Prowler without looking too suspicious. “Nah, y’all good,” he internally winces from the slight crack in his voice. “Really not a big deal–”
“MUMMY!”
Aaron flinches from the sudden giggly squeals behind him before the same two little girls run up to you and wrap their arms around your waist.
“There’s my two girls!” you laugh as you carefully crouch down to your knees, keeping the squirming Kitt in your arms while pressing a kiss against a chubby cheek on each twin. “Did you two have fun with Daddy while I picked up your brother?”
As soon as the words ‘Daddy’ leaves your lips, Aaron’s body freezes when a tall shadow looms over him, and he slowly looks over his shoulder to meet silver-pierced skin and nearly-black eyes staring him down.
Jesus Christ, when did he get here?!
“Mummy, look!” The afro-puff girl– Billie, Aaron thinks?– giggles as she points at her father’s lopsided pigtails. “Daddy looks so pretty!”
“Mac, don’t point, okay?” you gently chide the little girl before wrapping your free arm around her. “It’s not nice, remember?”
You then glance up at the towering punk, pressing your lips together with a mirthful glint in your eyes while holding in your laughter, before brushing your lips against Billie’s temple to hide your teasing smirk. “But yes, you made Daddy really pretty.”
The older man rolls his eyes before a small smirk curls up on his lips, draping his arm around the tense teen’s shoulders and leaning against him.
“C’mon now, lovie,” the older man’s deep British voice rumbles through Aaron’s bones, sending a chill down his spine. “Y’know I always look fit in any style.”
Despite the older man’s nonchalant demeanor, his glittery fingers on Aaron’s shoulder subtly dig into it until the poor boy winces from the pain.
“Yes, yes, I know,” you brush the older man off with a snicker, oblivious to Aaron trembling under the man’s grip, before gingerly standing up and approaching him. “You look handsome in every way, Hobie.”
With a teasing smirk you push yourself up from your toes and brush your lips against his in a chaste kiss, earning a small smile from the older man in return.
“Eww–”
The young twins quickly break the two of you apart, each pushing against you and Hobie away with scrunched up faces of disgust.
“Mummy, no kissing Daddy!” Billie whines as she wraps her arms around your waist. “You always make gross kissy noises with Daddy!”
Ramona buries her face into Hobie’s stomach with a muffled whine, squeezing her arms around his waist, before she turns her head to stare up at a flustered Aaron.
As cute as the kid is, Aaron can’t help but feel a slight chill down his spine from her scrutiny. It’s like she’s staring into his soul with those big brown voids.
“...are you Mummy and Daddy’s friend?” Ramona shyly asks while nuzzling her chubby cheek against Hobie’s stomach.
“Uh…”
Before Aaron can think of an excuse to get out of the situation, a small chubby hand grips and tugs on his hoodie, and his eyes dart to a gummy smile and a puff of curls.
“Kitt!” Your face blanches while he leans further in and reaches out for Aaron’s ear. “Wait, no– you can’t just–”
A shrill giggle bubbles up from the baby’s chest while you try to pull him away from Aaron, who winces from the ringing in his ear, but Kitt’s grip on the hoodie tightens and tugs the off-guard teen forward before letting go. Aaron attempts to speak over the rambunctious family again, but another sudden force rushes into his stomach and knocks the breath out of his lungs. He glances back down when another pair of arms wraps around his stomach, only to meet another pair of bright brown eyes and fluffy afro puffs.
“My name is Billie Jean Brown!” Billie announces herself with a wide grin. “I am five years old, ‘n m’ fav’rite sweets are orange choc’lates!”
The bubbly girl then holds her hand out to her sister, who shyly lets go of her father and grabs Billie’s hand before looking up at Aaron with owlish eyes.
“C’mon, Mon-mon,” Billie whispers loudly to her twin, “like Mummy and Daddy taught us.”
A slight tinge of pink creeps up on the other girl’s puffed up cheeks, and she glances down to her shiny black Mary-Janes before bashfully introducing herself. “M-my name is Ramona Diane Brown. I am f-five years old, ‘n my favorite sweets are jelly bellies…”
Oh. Oh no, that’s not fair. That’s too cute.
Aaron stares at the twins and baby with a pang of cute aggression in his chest, but he mentally stomps it down as he looks away and clears his throat.
“Y-yeah, hi…”
A strong arm slowly wraps around Aaron’s neck, sending another chill down his spine. He glances to the side, his eyes meeting the nonchalant profile of the twin’s father. Warm fondness pools in his dark eyes as he gazes down at his daughters, with Billie proudly grinning and patting a blushing Ramona’s head.
It should be a heartwarming sight to Aaron, it really should, but a looming heaviness sinks down on his shoulders as the older man’s arm gradually constricts around his neck, reminding Aaron of that huge snake in biology class when it wraps itself around its prey.
His heart drops from that brief epiphany, especially when the elder man’s eyes flick over to him in a side glance.
“Now, c’mon, li’l man,” Hobie’s low voice chills Aaron’s blood more, “ ’s rude not to introduce ya’self. ‘Specially if two little ladies greeted ya so nicely.”
He’s toying with Aaron, he has to be. Even with Hobie’s carefree attitude around his family, Aaron can’t help but imagine the same man snapping his neck with his arm alone if he makes a wrong move.
Hobie Brown is a damn snake, and Aaron is being held hostage in his grasp.
“Uh…Aaron,” his voice manages to not waver in front of the kids, “Aaron Davis…”
A soft chuckle rings in the side of Aaron’s ear, a saving grace for him as the arm around his neck lightens up.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Aaron,” you smile at him as you introduce yourself while Kitt starts to doze off on your shoulder. “I know it seems a bit strange, but would you like to come to our house for lunch? I actually made a lot more food than I thought, and I don’t think our family could finish all of it.”
Aaron’s eyes widen with confusion and wariness despite your earnest request. What the hell will happen to him if he goes to their house?
A loud gasp breaks through brief silence before Billie eagerly jumps in front of Aaron, with Ramona stares up at him with hope in her eyes. “Please come home with us! Please, please, please, please, please! I can show you the stuffies that Daddy made for me and Mon-mon!”
That same low chuckle reverberates through Aaron’s bones again, rattling him while Hobie pulls him closer. “Don’ worry, m’ wife jus’ has a t’ing wit’ pickin’ up strays. She sees a pitiful, skinny t’ing, ‘n she’ll wanna stuff ‘em up wit’ food ‘til they pop.”
You lightly smack Hobie in the chest with a deadpan, your cheeks growing slightly warm and pink. “Hey, none of that.”
Aaron’s face pinches up at the older man’s offhand comments, slightly offended at the being called ‘pitiful’ and ‘skinny”.
He’s not skinny. He’ll get some muscle, damn it.
Before he could retort back, however, a loud gurgle cries from Aaron’s stomach, and the family just stares at him while his face erupts in heat. A joyful giggle bubbles up from Billie before she grabs your hand and tugs both you and the bewildered Ramona out through the double doors.
“Mummy! His tummy’s angry!” Billie shouts out with a toothy grin, “Mummy’s gonna stuff him ‘til he pops!”
A small guffaw slips through your lips while you gently brace Kitt in your arm, “Billie, slow down! We’re only across the street!”
“W-wait!” Aaron calls out, too overwhelmed and baffled with the sudden events, “I didn’t say I was gonna–”
Something presses against Aaron’s windpipe again, quickly cutting off most of his air, and Aaron turns his eyes back to the now-solemn Hobie.
“Now, ya wouldn’ t’ink ‘bout disappointin’ m’ girls, would ya?” His voice drops to a lower octave, sending a frigid chill through Aaron’s blood. “ ‘S been a while since m’ lovie had a guest come over to eat her cookin’.”
The soft warmth that once resided in Hobie’s eyes sharpens into a darker cold stare, freezing the poor boy in place, before Hobie casually pulls something out of his pocket. A small plastic tab is tucked between his thumb and index finger, and Aaron’s grumbling stomach suddenly drops in silence.
Oh shit, he found the tracker.
“Now, li’l man, let’s have a long chat, shall we?”

A Ghost of Yourself
Chapter 7 - Brotherly Bonding
Bruce hadn’t been thrilled when they returned later that afternoon. Luckily Danny didn’t have to deal with the fallout. Bruce was more relieved he had returned, than angry at his leaving. He gave him a look Danny was very familiar with and sent him to his room without a word. He didn’t care the mall had been fun, like afternoons spent with Sam and Tucker after school. The others watched him calmly walk up the stairs, stopping at the top to give them a thumbs-up before disappearing. The others were stuck under Bruce’s gaze.
“What were the four of you thinking? What made you think taking Danny out shopping was a good idea? He’s still a flight risk.” Bruce demanded.
“We get that Bruce, but it’s been two weeks since he got here. Have you talked to him? Gotten to know him?” Steph challenged.
“Steph’s right, he’s not going to want to stay if he feels ignored. Duke and Damian can’t be the only ones.” Tim added.
“If that was the case he wouldn’t have left the other homes. He’s trying to get somewhere, and we still don’t know enough about him to let him do whatever he wants.” Bruce sighed, head in his hand from stress.
“But letting him wander the grounds till he’s stir-crazy is better?” Tim scoffed. “We got more out of him just by talking than anything we’ve tried to garner from research.”
“Like what?” Bruce pressed.
“He has never heard of the Justice League,” Duke chimed in. “Anything about heroes really.”
“He seems to have a regular civilian life, video games, and friends. Not that he’d let much slip about the friends.” Steph added.
“He has shown immense interest in astronomy and aerial advancement.” Damian spoke up.
“It’s why we took him out, Bruce. We wanted to see if we gave a reason to want to stay, that he’d take it. The hope is eventually he won’t need strings attached.” Tim concluded.
“So, you took him out as a test.” Bruce looked amongst them reminded of how well he trained. “What did you promise him?”
“A tour of STAR Labs in Metropolis, to see the space exploration department.” Steph answered waiting for a familiar bat glare, instead, Bruce pondered the thought.
“I’ll allow it, but there should be more of you. What would happen if an incident were to occur while you were there? Who would make sure Danny was out of the way while the others went to help? I’ll reach out to Clark and see what I can do about a tour. It’s his city so he’ll be best as back up.” Bruce answered, tugging his phone from his pocket. The four of them were surprised but decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Duke and Steph went off with their haul while Damian went to find Alfred the cat. Tim followed behind Bruce as he made his way to the study. He offered Tim a seat setting the phone aside.
“How was the mall?” Bruce smiled, taking his seat.
“It was fun, Danny seemed to have had a good time at least from what I could tell. Though something else happened I wanted to brief you on.” Tim answered, pulling out his phone.
“What did you find?” Bruce leaned over to get a closer look.
“So far, we know Danny was traveling to Gotham via a Greyhound, no city he’s passed through holds a record of someone named Danny or Daniel matching his description. The brands of the clothes he arrived in can only be found in the northeast side of the U.S.” Tim explained.
“What states does that leave us with?” Bruce asked.
“Everything west of Indiana, then Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois. A burner phone was in his bag, but neither the phone nor the contacts within have ever been used. The location on the phone was turned off and didn’t ping until he entered Gotham.” Tim answered.
“Hmm… Any contacts on the phone?” Bruce inquired.
“Two numbers neither used and no location mentioned since purchase. It almost feels like he must live in an electronic blackout, but such things would’ve been noticed by now.” Tim rambled.
“How does this relate back to the mall?”
“The attention we garnered is something we’re all used to. It comes with the Wayne name. Danny actively hid from the cameras. Though not many were focused on him, one did catch something.” Tim turned the phone to Bruce showing the blurred image of Danny, his eyes a glow. The man’s face was unreadable as he looked at the phone. Then it shifted to a look only Tim could recognize; he’d seen it when Bruce brought in new members. Whether Danny liked it or not he was stuck with the Waynes at his side.
“Dick will be taking those who wish to go to STAR Labs. I’m sure Connor or Wally can tag along as backup.” He spoke leaning back in his seat. “Let’s also keep an eye on that photo, on the off chance anyone is able to recognize him.”
---
Bruce had given the green light to visit STAR Labs. They had a chaperone, Dick, who would be joining them. He was the eldest of the adopted children. Danny had seen Tim roll his eyes at the mention of the brother though a smile lit his face. Danny didn’t care though so long as he could go he was happy. They would head out the following weekend, anyone who wished to go could tag along.
So far it was just Tim, Duke, and someone named Cass. Damian and Steph had schoolwork and were unable to take the day off. Danny himself was buzzing with excitement, all week he had been in the library reading up on advancements he had missed because of hero work. They had images of black holes and had found so many lives amongst the stars. Danny had also taken the time to learn more about the Justice League.
There were way more than Danny had thought. So many Danny wondered how no one had heard of what happened in Amity Park. His entire town had been dragged into another dimension and were attacked on almost a weekly basis until recently. Way more than some of these other cities. Those cities did deal with crime he wasn’t used to, except for maybe robberies. They were human crimes, which dried up with the constant ghost attacks.
Nothing about his home, family, or hero life were online. Tourism was prominent for people visiting for work or on the way to Chicago. He could still picture the lawyer’s face when he saved him from getting hit by a truck when fighting Technus. It was so funny when he realized he was a ghost and not a normal hero. The only conclusion he could come up with was the Guys in White creating a media white out on Amity Park. Powerful people had an easy time silencing those who didn’t have a lot of eyes on them.
In comparison the whole world had their eyes on the Justice League, not just Earth but throughout space as well. This meant they also had the whole world on their back. The UN tracks the heroes across the world and will even try to keep them from getting involved. That shut down his hopes of getting help from the JL. If they were bound by the law and he approached them seeking help he would thrust onto the world stage.
The Anti-Ecto Control act would come up and he would be left just fighting for his right to exist. Still, he wanted to meet them at some point, especially Martian Manhunter. It would be amazing to meet him and learn about Mars, Superman too. Superman seemed to have similar powers to himself, mainly the flying and shooting lasers, but he could probably give him some tips.
Then there was the other teams, all young heroes just like him! Other kids his age doing hero work and getting to hang out. Red Robin and Robin were the most familiar as they were from Gotham. Steph and Duke were more than willing to tell him all about Gotham’s iconic bat family. They also skimmed over the Young Justice and the Teen Titans who were more popular online than the adult hero teams.
The Outsiders were the most recent of the teams, focused on public image alongside heroism. Danny had binged through their social media, spending many hours watching their videos. It gave him a peak into what being a hero was like for other teens. All of this filled out his week of waiting very well and let him get to know Damian and Duke more. Damian still had a wall up with him, but was willing to let him help with taking care of Titus, Alfred the cat and his other pets.
Hiding his emotions was easier now, he barely had to consciously focus on it. His emotions felt stronger too, due to being unable to express them he felt more. The excitement for the next day was almost too much at this point. It had been growing gradually throughout the week and was starting to make headway at dinner. Danny could feel the eyes on him as he wolfed down his food, delicious as always thanks to Alfred.
“Thanks for the food, I think I’m going to turn in early. See you all tomorrow!” Danny announced as he finished off his last bit of steak. Rushing out of the dining room to the stairs and back to his room. He changed quickly into pajamas and settled in for the night. He knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep right away so he opened the window letting the crisp fall air drift in while he turned on a movie on the computer.
The screams of the Tormentor filled the room, his eyes wandering from the screen every few minutes. At first it was his leg bouncing under the table, then a hang nail on his thumb, the sound of the leaves rustling outside. His eyes fell back on the window, rolling his swivel chair to face the rolling countryside. The lights of Gotham twinkling in the distance, a few bats swooping through the trees.
When was the last time he flew? The last time he just got to have fun with his ghost powers. His mind reached out to the ghost half of himself, it was still there buzzing with energy ready to go at moment’s notice. A light started to flitter through the trees along the main road. He leaned out the window, seeing if it would stop at the gate as it began to slow. As the car made its way down the drive, Danny felt his head bump against something rigid. Above him was the top of the open window, the floor serval inches below him.
A shout escaped his lips as he forced his flight off knocking the wind out of him as he landed halfway out the window. Scrambling back inside his room before the car parked in the drive.
---
“So, B wants you to babysit?” Jason Asked in between dodging goons.
“Yep, Red came up with the idea to take the kid on a field trip. Keep him entertained and wanted while he’s on house arrest.” Dick answered. “Apparently he’s a big space fan.”
The two of them were currently in Crime Alley raiding an old office building that had been coveted by a newly formed gang. Jason had little interest in the gang itself, but the group had been bragging about knowing everything that happens in the alley. Rumors had surfaced they got a hold of an old Black Mask info broker. So, Jason and Dick went out to raid the place, well Jason did Dick decided to tag along while Jason ignored him but it was progress. So far the man they’d been looking for was a no show, they had cleared the first two floors with little issue but were growing concerned as more members showed but not the target.
“In that case I’m guessing you’re bringing baby blue with you? I don’t wish to be you this weekend.” Jason laughed, chucking a man out the window.
Dick just gave him a look, “Are you serious?” the sibling just gave him a shrug as they pushed deeper up to the third floor. “Superboy is on holiday with Miss M, I thought of Kaldur or KF but they both are busy with family.”
“So that’s why you followed me out here, you want me to help watch the roamer.” Jason exclaimed.
“That isn’t why I came; I wanted to hang out and catch up on what’s happening at the Manor. You wanted to spend family bonding time beating up a gang.” Dick explained.
“What do you mean, that’s how we always bond in this family.” His brother defended kicking open the next door. The fourth floor was different than the others, it was quiet with an open floor plan with large floor-length windows. Crates and boxes with stacked around creating strange angles and cover.
“True, but if I needed backup for the kid I already have it since Orphan is tagging along.” Dick smiled. They crept forward, movement in the back of the room catching their eyes. The two nodded to each other before splitting up. Dick kept talking, keeping the stranger’s attention.
“I don’t really need an excuse to want to hang out with you do I, Little Wing?” he called, moving between the door and the unknown lurker. “I’m mean really it’s been ages, or maybe just a month. You should swing by more often, I know you can cook at least better than the rest of us.”
Finally, with the man cornered, Dick turned past a pile of crates to see a skinny stick of a man. His wiry frame was covered in tattoos with a large jacket hanging loose over his white tank. His dark hair slicked back with so much product it looked greasy and had a small trigger in his hand. He’d rigged this place to blow, and they were standing at the top of it. Before Dick could think any further, Jason was perched above the man ready to jump him.
He had to get the trigger away before Jason made a move, so he went off instinct and side kicked the trigger out of the man’s hand. Second the info broker let go Jason dove on him throwing both out the window. Dick fell to catch the trigger catching the piece just before the thing landed button first. The room felt too quiet after that, Dick was missing something during all the commotion. A crash was heard outside the building, Jason’s grappling hook couldn’t be seen outside.
Dick ran to the window to see two bodies lying on the ground in a pile of trash. Jason seemed to lay on top letting the broker take the brunt of the fall. Dick deactivated the trigger and followed down to check on the two.
“Hood! Are you alright? What happened?” Dick yelled rushing to his side, a groan met him as an answer. He checked Jason over before rolling him off the crushed man. Jason then proceeded to remove his helmet leaving him in his domino mask.
“Fucker decided that holding my arms as we fell was better than letting me save us from the fall. Is he dead?” Jason huffed, pushing himself up into a sitting position. He looked over the man Jason landed on, surprisingly he was mostly fine outside a few broken bones.
“You definitely broke a rib or two, lucky for him he’s out cold.” Dick answered.
“Great, so I can kick him, and he should wake up!” Jason hissed, trying to move his foot but couldn’t get far.
“He needs to go to the hospital before any integration and we should get you back to the cave.” He ordered, calling over his car.
“Like hell! He was going to blow up an entire building, what for? He could’ve died in there with us, so he’s got something worth hiding.” His brother spat.
“You’re right, but if dies due to a punctured lung than he’ll be useless.”
“Fine.” Jason muttered.
“Good, I know you won’t like it but I’m going to have B look over your guy.” Dick began messaging Bruce through his arm communicator.
“Whatever, but if he wakes up have the kid interrogate. It’ll give him some practice.” Dick smiled at the suggestion of having Damian take lead.
“Sounds good, he’ll be glad to.” He grabbed Jason’s unhurt arm and helped him into the car as it pulled up to the alley.
As they reached home, Dick received confirmation that the broker had made it to the hospital alive. Bruce and Damian would be keeping tabs on him until he woke, but he wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Jason on the hand kept insisting he was fine, but his attitude on the drive back suggested otherwise. With every tight turn or bump his face would strain and a curse would slip out.
It was a family trait at this point to pretend you were fine when you really needed rest. No one could stand being benched, but doing anything else would risk evoking Alfred’s wrath. As Dick approached the manor he could make out a figure in one of the upper floor windows. He couldn’t tell what they were doing but when the figure suddenly fell half way out the window he picked up on the gas.
By the time they were out front the figure was back inside, he wasn’t sure if it was Danny trying to escape again but it wasn’t the best time to go see. It wouldn’t make sense if Nightwing showed up with an injured crime lord to a billionaire’s house. Dick wasn’t supposed to be here until tomorrow. He’d ask around tomorrow if it could’ve been anyone else and put the alarms on alert.
Rolling into the garage and helping Jason to the Batcave didn’t take long, Alfred was waiting at the bottom to help. They wrapped a cast around Jason’s hairline fracture in his forearm where the brunt of the fall seemed to be. Luckily his only other injuries were a twisted ankle and some bruised ribs. Bedrest was Jason’s best bet despite the many complaints. Alfred went a head and helped the man to bed while Dick followed suit going to his old room.
It still amazed him that Bruce bothered to keep the rooms untouched. Though it’s not he had much of a chance to go through them. Bruce tended to acquire new bats effortlessly, often finding him before he could begin to miss the company. Alfred never dared move anyone out, even with Jason’s first death he just knew that we may need them again. With that thought Dick changed into some pajamas and crashed as his head hit the pillow.
---
Sleep was something hard to come by Danny knew this and still fought off slumber for as long as he could. Waiting for ages for someone, anyone to barge in and begin questioning him. For the GIW to smash through doors and windows, drag him away far from Wayne Manor and Amity Park. Nothing happened, no one rushed in and slowly the quiet of the night crept into the room. The only thing keeping him from panicking was the focus he held on to. He had to keep his breathing even, so deep in slumber back to the door only the dead could wake him kind of sleep.
Eventually it wasn’t an act, and sleep slowly stole him away from his adrenaline. Just a cozy comforter and bed spread, the sounds of the countryside and crickets easing the tension in his body. As night went on, Danny’s dreamless sleep got interrupted by the cool air as the comforter slipped away. Danny cracked open his eyes to find himself waist deep through the ground floor.
“Ah!” Danny yelped pulling himself back up out of the floor.
“What is going on?” he whispered to himself. “I’ve been good, doing so good. I should have control.” He needed to think, this hadn’t happened in so long why would it come back. What would his parents think? Wait, that was a dark path and heavily biased. What would Jazz think?
She’d probably say it had to do with bottling his emotions, keeping everything in and making his powers unstable. It wouldn’t be the first time his powers had acted up due to his emotions and Jazz tended to focus on the psychological. It felt wrong, like the answer was deeper than that. Could Clockwork know? Would he help? he thought.
“Clockwork? Any chance of some cryptic wisdom?” Silence was the only answer Danny received. “Should have known, when has he ever stepped in to help when I ask for it.”
With a huff, he decided to forgo his mysterious power instability questions for now. He would just be extra careful; the others would be suspicious if he suddenly refused to go to STAR Labs and it may be a good distraction if he needed. Danny meandered down the hall to the kitchen, hopefully a snack would help him back to sleep. As the door swung open he came face to face with a stranger.
He was taller than any of the Waynes aside from Bruce, a cereal bowl balanced a top a cast as he froze midbite. His hair was black with a white streak dressed in plaid pajamas and a shirt that read Don’t be a “Dick”ens. Danny opened his mouth to speak but felt a familiar chill creep up and out of his mouth in a frosted breath.
The man before him was a ghost, he looked too normal how was he a ghost. Was he like Spectra or Johnny 13 hiding amongst humans gaining power on their emotions. He shouldn’t jump to conclusions but based on the man’s expression he knew Danny wasn’t human. Whether this was a relief for the ghost he couldn’t decide, but as the spoon fell from his hand Danny was already out the door.
“Wait!” The stranger yelled, the sounds of dishes falling could be heard behind him, but he didn’t dare look back as he dashed to his room.

Hello people of the internet! Spring break is near for me, so I’ve finally gotten to work on chapters! I had some more written for this but decided to save it as a head start for chapter 8 so I can hopefully get the next chapter out sooner. I’ve been loving the comments and hype, I can’t wait to see how everyone feels about this chapter.
I’m not sure if anyone else has this issue with their fics, I’m not sure if it’s bots or actual people but I’ve been receiving messages that are basically ads for artists to make art and comics of my story if I pay them. I understand promoting and advocating for yourself as an artist and your artwork but it definitely feels like automated bot messages and it only seems to occur on Fanfiction.net for me. I go into it deeper on fanfiction.net, but in the meantime I hope you all enjoy the story, and I’ll see you next time! Byee!

i think these two are some of my top favorite fantrolls :) they're just so stupid cute. The boy with acne's name is Excell and the girl's name is Banana Junior 6000. She's the big, blocky CRT computer monitor you can see Excell riding around on in the first image--listen, people started making robot trolls oc, and hey robots can be ANY shape, even the shape of a banana junior from the old comic bloom county. I love that little guy :) so im stealing him for my fantroll. I DO WHAT I WANT!
More below cut.
Excell's been obsessed with hunting for ghosts for a long time, and he repairs ancient, manual troll technology to do so. The tunnels between the gold city and school are creepy, abandonded, and a perfect place to look. Recently a device he brought back gained sentience, and he's so proud that a ROBOT can develop an identity and personality--though a lot of his friends have pointed out that Banana Junior's behavior is suspiciously more like a troll then a robot. Excell, eager to accept the robot revolution, denies their observations because Banana Junior is literally his best friend and moirail!?! He is dating that computer. It's because he respects its PERSONHOOD.
Excell might seem a bit like a nerd stereotype that you might disrespect but he has complete confidence in his own identity and interests and is a really solid dude. Super talented, too. I think he's pretty awesome, actually. He's also genuinely a very good friend. I like how i built his personality, kinda like a fun blend of concepts around Aradia and Sollux.
He's unfortunately wrong about Banana Junior--that's totally a spirit made of electricity possessing his computer, and toying with him setting off his electronics when he goes ghost hunting. Junior finds playing with Excell way more interesting then look into their own identity, which they don't really remember--they don't want the confirmation that they really are dead.
Fortunately, Junnye is actually still alive, just comatose after going through an intense surgery, the electric energy of her mind astral-projecting from her body. One day, Excell will help her confront who she is and travel back to her body, and they'll continue to live happily as partners.

Negaverse Megavolt concept!
Design notes and personality rant stuff under the cut. Warning. It's long and unreadable.
The purse thing is a generator (Ill probably design it as a prop at some point considering It does NOT look like one but portable generators are hard for me to draw for some reason)
I swapped which eye has the white in it (even though I usually draw it on the wrong side anyway bc idk my lefts from rights..)
I wanted to make the darks very prominent bc the yellows are very prominent in the original
I went with blues bc it's the only other colour usually associated with lightning and electricity.
The teal parts of his outfit are lights! They glow when he's fully charged and fade out when he's out of power.
You can't see it in this pose but his hands have outlets on the back that work the same as megavolt's chest outlet. He can power weapons with them and charge himself without the pain of straight up shocking himself
I wanted to make his hair look like it's thinning out bc of age and repeated electrical damage but I wasn't sure how to do that so it's not really present. Did give him some white hair though.
His glasses are prescription! Can't see nothin without em..
Okay now some personality stuff!
Megavolt is the hardest villain to swap bc his personality is "insane guy with memory issues but is smart" and it's kinda hard to flip that around without just making him boring? Removing his intelligence when it comes to electricity would also negate his whole gimmick which makes things worse. but I do have a few ideas. It's ironic I struggle with him so much considering he's literally my favourite character...
He was popular in high school. He was friends with negaduck and they were both pretty well liked jock types before negaduck started doing major crimes (though I imagine he was always a delinquent of sorts. Just didn't start destroying the city till he graduated) clash reunion is a whole beast on it's own bc megavolt has the most in depth backstory which means a lot of reworking for a personality swap au.
His interests, like dw's megavolt, lie in magnesium, electronics, and engineering. The difference is, despite being Intruiged by these subjects, he didn't go out of his way to learn about the. He was more focused on his peers approval back then. Not to mention the fact that negaduck was an extremely toxic friend and would absolutely make fun of him constantly for it. (He doesn't even actually care, he's just an asshole.)
Eventually after gaining his abilities he began to study electricity and start inventing things. Only.. He's pretty bad at it. Things tend to backfire on him. Quackerjack has a lot more experience than him when it comes to engineering and he tries to help him out but the guy's kinda cursed. I haven't really decided if it's more dt17 gyro where everything he makes ends up turning against him or guy am I from the Netflix green eggs and ham show where everything he makes just kinda explodes. Maybe a bit of both. Either way it's very over the top and is more trouble than it's worth, but that doesn't stop him! (Oh God someone stop him)
I didn't wanna just take away his mental issues completely because the opposite of that is literally nothing. It adds.. Nothing. It just gives him less to work with. And it's already hard enough to do this guy. (Plus it kinda implies mentally ill people can't be heroes and that's.. Mm....) So instead I decided to change how he reacts to it.
He still has memory issues along with other physical and mental symptoms of electrical injury, he just really likes to pretend he doesn't. He completely ignores his deteriorating mental, physical, and emotional health <33
I wanna flesh him out more but I'd only be able to do that if I write with him and I'm fantastic at procrastinating my writing projects <33
#digital art#art#drawing#negaverse#megavolt dwd#negaverse megavolt#fanart#dwd91#dwd fanart#megavolt#dwd#redesign#fan design#i kinda avoid saying negaducks real name in the parts where I talk about them in high school bc idk if it would be the same as DW or not

I really like that the first panel emphasises the connect aspect of volleyball.
But what really makes me happy is that the series ended on these words too. But instead of just one panel, each line is emphasised with what we learned reading the series.

To us, Haikyuu is about the story of Hinata and Kageyama (literally), as they fight to stay on the court the longest. From a small city gymnasium in middle school, to the top of the world in the Olympics. Although many characters love the game of volleyball in the series, we see it most with these two. Just like in this panel, to us the readers of Haikyuu they are the sport's representatives.

Here the 'separated by the net' is quite literally lol.

Again, it is visual representation of them bouncing the ball and keeping it from touching the floor, but the next page honestly makes me tear up..

Again, 'connect' is emphasised, but this time more beautifully, but with Hinata and Kageyama's teammates and the people who supported them, connected with them...

And it ends with their signature freak quick attack. Now Kageyama always took Hinata seriously, which is one of the things I love about him, and acknowledged his passion and dedication to volleyball when he refused to stop until the ball dropped with a set.
But they connected during that 3 on 3 with their quick, bringing their strengths together... I will never get tired of connection in Haikyuu ugh.
Also!!! Hinata can see past that 'tall, tall wall'!!! You can see the top of the net reflected in his eyes!!!
And then the thing that drives everyone crazy

Gosh I love circular endings. Inspiring people just like he himself was so inspired.
And before this panel came this:

It is the only piece of dialogue since the volleyball exposition piece, and it's the voice of the announcers reminding people once again that Hinata and Kageyama went to school together.
The bicycle kid would have heard this, and how amazing would it feel for him to hear that the two monsters on stage went to school in the same town that he lives in? That those people walked the same roads that he did? (Takinoue Electronics was on the Karasuno Shopping District iirc.)
This was supposed to be about the first chapter of haikyuu but it somehow ended with the last.
Endings and Beginnings indeed.

Shit I did/said as a kid/teen as the Valorant agents (I’ve never had a concussion or broken bones)
Hey guys its close to finals week when im writing this i have no idea when ill post it, but enjoy!!
Brimstone: Took charge of a group project but ended up doing the whole thing myself. (15)
Viper: Willingly grabbed a wild snake to show my mom when I was 3, but cried when they wanted me to hold a tarantula (3 then 6)
Omen: For some reason me and my friends use to play that we lost our memory, we really just used it as an excuse to be mean. (I was 9)
Cypher: Spent hours on an app that let me see city cameras in china or something (9 maybe? I'm not sure)
Sova: The first time i went fishing with my grandfather (RIP grandpa) I was so proud, then i dropped it on the ground and it flopped into the water. (i was 5)
Sage: My friends and i would hop the fence at our elementry school to go pick wildflowers, we had to stop because we got ticks (9 or 10)
Pheonix: My best friend at the time asked me what I would do if my future boyfriend gives me a knuckle sandwaich and I replied that I would eat it. I still would (my now boyfriend would never raise a hand against me) (i was 5)
Jett: A boy was showing off how fast he could run, so i tripped him (i was 8)
Raze: I spraypainted the sidewalk beside my house because i wanted to make art (I wanted to use the spray cans) then i got scolded. (I was 7)
Breech: I am autistic and someone said oh she cant shes autistic, so I bit them i dont know how old i was nor do i remember what they said.
Reyna: I would play the wack a mole game at the arcade so I could use the hammer to hit my best friend, she did the same to me (8?)
KillJoy: When i played Valorant for the first time my online friend made me play KJ because i was german (17)
Skye: While i was going my usual tree climbing, i saw a spider. I decided to fall to the ground, I got up just fine, then climbed a diffrent tree where i found a bee hive. (idk 11? maybe) Yoru: When I fIrst got glasses and I could actually see, I looked at my nana and asked her what happened to her face, then I threw up (I was 4)
Astra: I love the stars so much, I used to think we all became stars when we died because the movie princess and the frog, and I cried when the cathloic church said we didnt (I was 6)
KAY/O: In MMA class we had to do an excersize where the others would have to stop us from making it to the other side. Most of the kids dog piled on me, a 150 pound boy got on my back, yet I still made it across the room (idk I was 11 and weak, but for a treat after, I was strong) Chamber: My friend taught us pole dancing at recess and for some reason the teachers never stopped us. (we were in 5th grade about 10?)
Neon: I watched my younger brother slide into the Oven door. My parents for some reason put it in the living room. I tried to help him by saying it was the dog. However Our dog was living with my grandparents. (7?)
Fade: Spent a whole hour meowning at a random cat in France (I was 12, and where were my parents?) Harbor: I am a huge history nerd, I did three book reports on the titanic, Then when we had to be characters for a fake museum where we would have to preform for epople I decided to be the drunk man that survived (I was 10, why didnt a teacher tell me no?)
Gekko: I had one of the electronic Furbies, i still have that yellow shit. Me and my brother were playing with him and he turned evil and we got so scared. For a month we made our mom put him under a flowerpot with 2 bibles on top of it. (I actually dont know how old I was)
Deadlock: My grandma gave me a sewing kit for one of my birthdays so I just threw it at people (6)
Iso: Collected little rocks at recess then put them in the shoes of kids I didnt like (6)
Clove: Jumped off the top of the playground because I wanted to impress my crush, then I hit my head on the slide pole. Surprisingly I ended up being just fine.
Vyse: ummm I had a Wiggle (if anyone remembers those) and I would constantly bully it. I actualy dont know how old I was but I was a kid
Honorable mention: I farted in church when i was 4 and blamed it on Jesus and apparently you’re not supposed to do that. Also this is a rough memory and stir from the top of my head, I have childhood trauma
Anyways i finally got therapy. Byeeee working on a request rn
