Eligibility Criteria of Manipal University 

The eligibility criteria for an MBA at Manipal University can differ depending on the specific campus or college that's running the course. But, I can totally give you a rough idea of what their usual requirements look like. Remember though, the ultimate source of the most accurate and recent information will be the official website or you could also directly get in touch with the university.

A Bachelor's Degree: You will need a Bachelor's degree from any renowned university, and this can be in any field of study. To ensure your application stands a good chance, you should have earned this degree with a minimum cumulative percentage, which usually falls between 50% and 60%. (However, this is subject to vary based on your university's specific criteria.). Entrance Exam Score: Most likely, you'll need to ace one of the MBA entrance tests, which could be any national or university standards such as CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), CMAT (Common Management Admission Test), or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test).

Work Experience (Not always though): A few MBA programs might prefer you to possess work experience of a span of one to three years, particularly for Executive MBA programs. So, if you've worked before, that’s a plus!

English Proficiency: If you're flying from overseas or your prior education wasn’t primarily in English, then you will need to demonstrate your proficiency in English. TOEFL or IELTS scores are widely accepted methods to prove this.

chapter two — anger

➝ you left toto’s office heartbroken. but, unknowingly, left a broken heart inside those glass walls.

➝  author’s note: i had no idea that this one shot would have so many sequel requests! you don't know how happy it makes me to know that you like what i write. Of course it's a process and I'm trying to improve every bit. i hope you like this sequel and want more.

Toto had lost track of the time he stood in his office, in absolute silence. His eyes were glued to the resignation letter. The black letters against the cream paper looked more and more empty with each reading. The scrawl at the bottom of the page, less and less familiar.

In his mind, a phrase was repeated over and over, as if it were being played on a scratched record.

“I was spying on the team”.

Alison sat in his office, going over his schedule for the day. 

— And this morning, you have a meeting scheduled with the new chief aerodynamicist.

Toto looked up from the iPad.

— Y/N, right?

— That’s right. At 9:00.

He pushed his square-framed glasses back up to the top of his nose.

— Let me know when she arrives. I want to be downstairs to greet her, personally.

Dropping the paper on the pale wood table and turning to face the surface, Toto felt his jaw clench, and felt the blood boiling in his veins. He had never felt as angry as he was at that moment.

Not even in his worst moments.

Not even when all seemed lost.

“How could she do this to me?”, he asked himself.

Right at 9:00, his office phone rang.

— Miss Y/N is here — Alison said.

— I’m coming — Toto replied, rising from his navy blue office chair and walking toward the elevator, pressing the down button. The silver doors opened and he stepped inside. When the doors slid open again, Toto stepped out, stopping when he saw a woman crouching in front of the W11 that was on display in the lobby.

Y/N.

He watched her for a few seconds, noticing that she was studying the car carefully. She hadn’t even heard him coming. 

— A work of art, isn’t it? — Toto smiled, making her turn around.

A bang echoed through the empty office.

Then another. And another one. And one more.

Then silence.

Toto was breathing heavily, his fist clenched against the table. His hand hurt, but he couldn’t care less. So many times he had punched tables, taking out his frustration with some problem that had occurred during the race. However, not even that helped to discharge that anger accumulating in his chest.

“Images, videos, numbers, simulations, settings”, he recalled the words Y/N had said minutes before.

— Why? — he muttered.

After the third meeting via videoconference, the only thing Toto needed was a strong cup of coffee to get through that late night marathon with people halfway around the world.

— Those fucking time zones — he mumbled to himself, walking slowly down the hall toward the cafeteria. However, Toto stopped when he realized that there was an office with the light on. Upon reaching the door, he saw Y/N sitting in front of her computer, nodding in time to the music that was playing through her headphones.

Watching her for a few seconds, Toto couldn’t help but smile. He moved closer and touched her shoulder. She jumped out of her chair, the headphones slipping from her head.

— Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you — he said with a smirk.

— It was nothing — she stammered.

— What are you still doing here?

She hesitated for a few seconds.

— I was organizing the data we collected today. And you?

— Meeting with Petronas executives. They are in Malaysia so…

— Oh yeah. Time zones, right?

Toto nodded. “Should I ask her...?”, he thought.

— I was going down to get some coffee — he said, running a hand through his hair — Would you like to come with me?

Throwing himself into the navy blue chair, Toto ran a hand over his forehead. He hadn’t realized how much his head hurt until then.

It was too much to digest.

Too much anger.

Too much disappointment.

Too much guilt.

It felt like Toto had known Y/N forever.

She was smart, funny… A breath of fresh air.

And he hadn’t realized he was desperate to breathe in fresh air until then.

Stopping the 300 SL Gullwing in front of her building, he turned the car's ignition off. Then, he turned to face Y/N, who was looking at him curiously.

— Well, you’re home.

She smiled shyly.

— Thank you so much for the evening. It was amazing.

— It was — he said softly. Toto had never wanted to kiss a person as much as he did right then. But he didn’t dare move, lest he startle her. After all, he was still her boss. However, as if reading his mind, Y/N placed her hand on his face and their lips touched, the taste of red wine invading his mouth.

— Sei la donna più bella che abbia mai incontrato — he whispered in Italian, tucking a strand of her soft hair behind her ear.

Lost in his own thoughts, Toto snapped back to reality when his cell phone vibrated against the top of his desk, the screen lighting up with a notification. He picked up the phone and regretted it almost immediately when he saw Y/N in the background, smiling brightly.

Unlocking the phone, Toto opened his camera roll almost unconsciously, where there were many more images of the two of them, and especially of her. Tapping one of the photos, the thumbnail zoomed in, showing Y/N lying between the white sheets of his bed, a sleepy smile behind her messy hair.

He remembered that day clearly.

It was the day he’d told her he loved her.

Y/N turned to face him, her expression confused by what Toto had just said.

— You what?

— I love you, Y/N — he repeated slowly.

She blinked a few times, absorbing the words. Toto noticed that there were tears in the corners of her eyes. That sight made his heart feel heavy. “I shouldn’t have said that”, he thought, bringing his thumb to her face and wiping a tear that fell towards her temple.

— You don’t have to say it back — Toto said softly, his finger caressing her skin. He couldn’t deny how much he wanted to hear that the intense, uncontrollable feeling he had for her was mutual.

— But I want to say it back — Y/N said— I’m crying because I’ve wanted to tell you that for a long time.

— So say it — he whispered, bringing his face close to hers.

— I love you too, Toto.

Swiping to the right, the next image showed Y/N sitting in his seat in the Mercedes garage at Silverstone, his silver headphones tucked over her head, the same wide smile on her lips. However, that memory filled his mouth with a bitter taste.

“He asked me to collect as much information as possible about next year’s car,” he heard Y/N repeat in his head.

Christian.

This had all been Christian Horner’s idea. Each detail. Every step.

From the beginning he knew everything.

— That motherfucker — Toto snarled, slapping the top of his desk again.

Toto had just finished doing his interviews on the media pen when he felt someone tap his shoulder. 

— Hello, Wolff — the familiar southern English accent made him prickle — How are you? Ready for the weekend?

— Fine, Christian. Yes, I’m ready. And you?

— Yes, all good here. I heard you even brought in people from the factory to help out during the race.

Toto didn’t need a second to understand what the Red Bull team principal was talking about.

— Yes, we brought in some people to analyze the data in situ.

— I thought aerodynamics were analyzed in the wind tunnel and not on the race track — Horner muttered, glancing around as if searching through the camera lens — Unless…

Toto took a step forward, getting closer to the Englishman.

— What are you implying? — the Austrian hissed.

— That you brought a special guest into your garage.

He felt the blood boil in his veins.

— It’s none of your business who I bring into my garage.

— Well, considering I know Y/N well — Horner said, tilting his head.

— You watch your mouth to talk about her — Toto raged.

Christian held up his hands defensively.

— Far be it from me to want to say anything about her. Y/N was a great employee at Red Bull. But if I were you, I’d be careful with her.

— What do you mean?

The Red Bull’s team principal grinned.

— Well… I know how lovely she can be.

Toto turned off the screen and dropped his phone on the top of his desk.

He’d already lived long enough to experience heartbreak and professional frustration. However, what Y/N had done to him had been by far the worst of them all. It had been more than mere betrayal. It had been a breach of all the trust he’d placed in her, both emotionally and professionally.

Robotically, Toto headed for the closet, opened the door, and took out his briefcase. He placed it on his lap and opened it, looking for something he’d been carrying with him for several months. He grasped a familiar texture, pulling out a small velvet box, letting the briefcase fall to the floor.

Hesitantly, Toto lifted the lid with his thumb. Inside, nestled in the satin, was a gold ring with a single diamond decorating the band. His mother’s engagement ring.

And it should have been Y/N’s.

— Why, Schatzi? — he whispered, looking at the ring.

Singapore Scholarship Interview Questions and Experience

Overview of scholars’ programmes and scholarships for which I went for interviews:

Scholars’ Programmes: 1. National University of Singapore (NUS): University Scholars’ Programme (USP) 2. National Technological University (NTU): CN Yang Scholars’ Programme

Scholarships: 1. Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore Local and Overseas Scholarships (CAAS) (2 rounds) 2. National Technological University: Nanyang Scholarship 3. National University of Singapore: NUS Merit Scholarship (2nd tier; 1st round)

This post has been long overdue but... After my GCE ‘A’ Level a couple years ago, I applied for a number of scholarships and scholars’ programme locally. However, when I was shortlisted for the interviews for these, I realised there were very few platforms on which they actually shared in-depth information about how the interviews are conducted so now that I’m kind of done with all my interviews, I’ve decided to compile everything I went through and share it with you guys. I was actually also just shortlisted for the MOH Healthcare Merit Award / Scholarship interview, but declined to attend it (so I’m sorry to those who were curious to know what the interview would be like) because I’ve decided to enrol into CN Yang Scholars’ Programme. I’ll give you a breakdown of the reasons why in a bit. All right, enough rambling, now it begins!

CAAS Scholarship Interview 

Result: Not offered (honestly because I did ZERO preparation for the actual interview lol halp) 

There were two rounds of interviews for this scholarship. The first involved something like a ‘roleplay’ where we discussed how we would solve a simulated issue. I passed this round. Honestly, just speak up and try to ‘put yourself out there’ more, so that the interviewer / observer can hear your opinions better and ‘get to know you’ more easily. 

The second round of interview is way more formal, with a panel including about 4 management/executive-level guys. I’m pretty sure one of the Directors was there. Since I did not pass this round, I won’t share my answers back then, but I think the trick is to really read up on Singaporean current affairs beforehand, read some opinion pieces (maybe from the newspapers forums), and know about CAAS well!!

The Interview Questions: 

1. Tell us about yourself.  2. What are some of your strengths and weaknesses?  3. What do you know about CAAS? 

4. Do you think females should also partake in NS? --> I answered this question very poorly (I think), but the interviewer then told me that I could’ve said something like... ‘females also serve the country in different ways, such as in the public sector, in their daily contributions to the workforce and even taking care of their children and their families for the future...and military / NS is not the only way one can contribute to Singapore’s society’ 

I can’t really recall the rest of the questions, but good luck! 

NUS USP Interview 

Result: Offered Summary of benefits: Basically a programme that entails 2 years of compulsary on-campus living (NOT sponsored accommodation, but simply a requirement of the programme) that focuses on critical thinking skills and nurturing all-rounded thinking regardless of courses pursued; known to be pretty rigorous, involving classes even after ‘lesson hours’ and intensive writing; according to my seniors, this programme really trains your writing skills so it kind of helps in the long run, with writing theses and all that. pretty cool programme imo.

The Interview: this was a pretty chill, casual interview if i’m completely honest. there were 2 interviewers -- a prof of the programme and a USP alumni.

Q: Tell us about yourself, in terms of how your life has been and what got you interested in USP. A: Well, I’d like to think that I have led quite a unique life in that I spent the first 10 years of my life living in Malaysia. And because my entire childhood was spent there close to nature, it shaped my thinking such that I have a greater appreciation for more hands-on and experiential learning. So, even when I came to Singapore for primary education onwards, I was constantly seeking ways to achieve a more balanced, and exciting education path for myself. For instance, in secondary school, I tried my hand in community service, which made me realise my passion for people (etc. etc. etc.); and then in Junior College, I decided to pick up photography because I realised that I was lacking the more ‘artistic’ aspect of life. So I did that, alongside my original interest in community service, which I continued to pursue with my own self-initiated Fundraising projects. Why I’m interested in USP is because I realised that there are multiple tiers to it that allow me to be exposed to a wider variety of knowledge fields and skill sets, and also more abstract and humanities-focused courses even though I’m interested in joining a science course.

Q: You mentioned that you spent the first 10 years of your life in Malaysia, can you tell us more about what you think of the sense of rootedness you have towards Singapore vs Malaysia? A: (I’m assuming this is pretty specific towards my previous answer and probably none of you will be asked this as well so I’ll skip on what I replied; but I gave a pretty neutral answer, saying that I’m thankful towards M’sia for having shaped me as a child to think the way that I do today, and towards S’pore for the opportunities I have had to grow even more as a more mature person etc.)

Q: What was your community service project about and what did you learn from it? A: It was a fundraising project that aimed to raise funds so that the organisation we were working with would be able to continue to sustain its operations, and fulfil its aim of keeping all its programmes free of charge. Because I was the student leader of this project, I was in charge of coordinating recruitment, attendance as well as liaising with managements to host our fundraising events. So through these, I was able to learn how to communicate better with others and negotiate for better terms for my project. Because I was doing this along with exams, and another year-long tuition programme for less fortunate children, I also learnt to manage my stress and the importance of pacing myself so that I would not overwork and burn out.

Q: Speaking of non-profit organisations, what do you think of them in general? A: I feel like ultimately, non-profit organisations are still businesses that require a certain amount of profit and/or revenue to continue sustaining their operations. So, in the end it’s still a lot of communicating with other for-profit businesses to sell their efforts so that they would be sponsored, and so that others would be enticed to give back to the community by helping to sustain the non-profit organisations. My fundraising project was actually able to give me more insight into the behind-the-scenes of running a non-profit organisation, and we realised that even donations had to be audited and checked, and the staff still had to be paid. etc. etc. etc.

Q: What do you think sets you apart from your peers such that you will be able to excel under USP? A: I believe that I have the passion and the drive to keep up with the rigorous programmes and classes at USP. I am also very ambitious, so I will constantly strive to improve myself. Because I’ve always been very receptive to both the sciences and the humanities and have equal appreciation for both, I am also confident in understanding and adapting to the style of USP. I also think that because of my experiences, I will also be able to bring more unique ideas to the table as USP and contribute to more meaningful discussions.

NTU CN Yang Scholars’ Programme Interview

Result: Offered Summary of benefits: Includes the Nanyang Scholarship and guaranteed overseas final year research project (5 to 8 months), guaranteed overseas exchange for one semester, guaranteed four years of stay in NTU halls of residence, opportunities for research attachment from Year One onwards, opportunities to attend an international conference with full subsidy, opportunities to meet top leading scientists and academics, opportunities for PhD study at NTU or Joint PhD with partner university (Minimum CGPA of 4.00 for application of a scholarship from NTU)

The Interview: again, a pretty chill, pretty brief interview. there was only 1 interviewer.

Q: Tell me briefly about yourself. A: (summarised achievements + passions/interests)

Q: Do you intend to do a PhD after you graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree? A: Yes, because........ (just talk about furthering your passions and a PhD honing new skills...)

To be honest, the rest of the interview was mostly the interviewer explaining what the scholarship and scholars’ programme would entail. It was quite an easy breezy interview.

NTU Nanyang Scholarship Interview (under SCBE) 

As my first-choice course was Chemical Engineering, naturally I had my Nanyang Scholarship interview under the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE), with the Academic Chair and an administrative staff as the interviewers.

Afterwards, they pretty much just started telling me about the scholarship and how I can benefit from it. Following that, they offered me the LEAD Award top-up, which I did NOT see coming but was very flattered by.

The Interview:

I have to say that this was one of my worst interview experiences. The questions were pretty standard at first, asking about (again) yourself, your past experiences, why you chose your course of study. But after a while it took a dark turn. So, by this point I’d already been accepted into the Pharmacy course, so I was merely interviewing for the scholarship and NOT the course. Yet, the interviewer (one of 3 in the panel) started to bombard me with questions about why I got a B in A Level Chemistry (FYI: I had all A’s and a B in H2 Chem), what went wrong (his words, not mine), why I deserved to be given a scholarship IN SPITE OF THE ‘B’, what I will do to overcome this stupid shortcoming...... blah blah blah EXTREMELY TERRIBLE AND ELITIST INTERVIEWER.

But again, that was my experience. I could’ve just gotten a really mean interviewer. Just go in with an open mind. But I left the interview feeling really looked down on and...shamed. Which is sad because now that I am way past that, I wish I had gone back in and told him that grades are not what make a person.

name's NADIA, don’t call her nads unless you’re her bff

born in manchester, england, the only child of her software developer father, sachin menon, and her bakery manager mother, min “carrie” menon.

and so the menons finally reach san francisco, where nadia is miserable and carrie is a bit more than annoyed at sachin. nadia eventually settles in to her high school, launching herself back into popularity as she makes the dance team, and by some stroke of luck, the cheer team. tensions start to brew between carrie and sachin, which nadia starts to notice. she envelopes herself in schoolwork and clubs, joining a record number for the school. 

the breaking point comes at the end of her senior year, where her parents announce that they’d be getting a divorce, even noting that they’d only stayed together because she was still under their care. nadia, furious, went off on both of them, vowing to never return to the home. her parents have attempted to sway her opinion, with her father paying for her entire undergraduate studies and her mother sending her checks for rent (and a little extra) every month. these obviously don’t work, but nadia works this to her advantage, and gets to use her tutoring/barista income to pay for luxuries like makeup and clothing
