Is all of Tsumihoroboshi... Like That? Most annoying trope in visual novels is the protagonist being a perv, and I swear it's in pretty much every major visual novel. Major whiplash after Meakashi.

Oh I hate the way the subtitles localized "Nii-nii" like I know it's a cutesy way to say big brother but translating it as "big brudder" sucks lol

Hey, Higurashi, can we talk about how much you're jerking me around with these characters? Like, I'll be really heated at one character and then another character I love will do something that makes me mad and I don't know what to do with myself. Props for writing actually complex characters that give you actually complex feelings about them.

Still working through Higurashi, and man... Tatarigoroshi is ROUGH. It's very well done, but the subject matter makes it... a lot harder to play very much of at a time because I get almost as worked up as Keiichi.

The Sotsu ending actually made me really emotional, it really hit on some personal feelings. While I think I definitely prefer the original story, I think it was done well.

Obsessed with none of the adults in Higurashi Gou aside from Akane Sonozaki having unnatural hair colors. Kumagai and Okonogi just having black hair is so weird. Also the plot has finally diverged significantly and I am concerned...

Finally finished Higurashi!! I honestly love all the characters so much! I plan on starting Umineko, maybe in September, but I need a bit of a break to play some other games. I started watching the 2020 anime (Gou) because I heard it has a different story, but I also heard it has pretty mixed reviews so we'll see.

I can't imagine playing the unmodded steam version of Higurashi without voice acting, like... Keiichi and Satoko's laughs, Rena's "omochikaeri!", Rika's "meep" and "nipah~!" are all so ingrained in my brain now, like those are my friends' voices!

Minagoroshi actually made me cry several times and then during the ending I was just kinda watching everything unfold with wide eyes. Time to move on to the final chapter and see how everything shakes out!

It's amazing how much of a 180 Shion's attitude toward Satoko makes when she remembers her promise to Satoshi.
#tooni plays higurashi#like she's basically keiichi in tatarigoroshi now but with more spite for the sonozaki family#also as hard as that chapter was to get through this one is making me cry a lot earlier at rika's hopelessness#girl allowed herself to get her hopes up once and everything seems to come crumbling gotten immediately#said it before and i'll say it again higurashi really knows how to play with the building blocks of storytelling

Ohhhhh, Higurashi, you know how to combine comedy of errors, conspiracies, and paranoia in the best way, ESPECIALLY switching between Keiichi and Rena's perspectives. And leaving just enough crumbs of weirdness that I can't completely discount anything. All this wrapped up in all the emotions of friendship and trust, like... amazing.
