leah is tough. she’s strong, she’s intimidating and she’s a force to be reckoned with. she doesn’t mind being seen as stern sometimes, she likes the intense and challenging aura she gives off. she captained a team of european champions, and she wants her opponents to know.

her teammates know that leah would never hurt a fly, no matter how much she denies it, they know she has a soft side to her. despite her ever-so-serious nature when it comes to the football pitch, she can never fight back a smile when she sees you. it’s something about you, it’s as if you are the key to unlocking this part of her.

leah is smitten, it’s clear as day.

everyone knows it. her teammates know it, her family knows it, even her managers know it. you have her wrapped around your finger.

no matter what it is, leah would do it for you. thirsty? stay there, leah will get you some water. tired of walking? leah’s got you in her arms, carrying you for the rest of the day. struggling to walk in heels? her shoes are yours now. sun in your eye? you best believe that leah is going to move the sun itself out of the sky for you.

the girls (featuring ruesha, our honorary teammate for the night) are gathered at beth’s house for movie night. leah convinced everyone to do a harry potter marathon together (fuck j.k rowling btw). everyone sits together in beth’s living room. beth and viv in their respective seats and the rest of the team scattered among the chairs, beanbags and floor. leah sits on the sofa, eager to watch the movie with a bowl of crisps on her lap. katie smirks as she spots an empty seat next to leah, deciding to tease her.

“oh, thanks lee.”

the irish woman takes the seat next to her. leah scowls at her, and carefully places the bowl of crisps on the floor before forcefully pushing katie off of the sofa and onto the ground.

“seat’s reserved, mccabe.”

as if on cue, you come bounding in through the door with two drinks in your hands and a grin so bright that it could rival the glow of the stars (or that’s what leah thinks anyway)

the minute her eyes are on you, a grin takes over her features as she pats the seat next to her, gesturing towards you. you hand her the spare drink in your hand as you take the seat next to her

“for you, grumpy!”

leah rolls her eyes playfully, fighting off a smile as she takes the drink off of you. a gasp can be heard from below the both of you, as a very offended irish woman lies on the ground in front of you both

“so she gets the seat and i don’t? you’re obsessed, lee.”

leah ignores her as she proceeds to subtly shuffle closer to you on the sofa, seeking your touch. you chuckle at her actions and move your hand to rest on her thigh, absentmindedly stroking it with your thumb. leah instantly relaxes at the contact and a contented look rests on her face. viv attempts to shush the rest of the team to start the film but goes unheard until beth yells out for her. the both of them start the film and the entire team settles to watch.

throughout the film, leah has gravitated even closer towards you, obsessed with the feeling of having you near her. about halfway through philosopher’s stone you start to yawn, and your head feels heavy. noticing this, leah taps you lightly and gestures to her shoulder. you smile at her as you mouth a quiet thank you before resting your head on her shoulder, melting into her side. leah maintains a calm smile as you do so, but you can hear how much her heartbeat has sped up and know that she is most likely jumping for joy internally. you place a light kiss on her neck and proceed to watch the movie. leah glances at you and then manages to make eye contact with jen, who had ‘accidentally’ watched the small gesture between the both of you. she mimes cracking a whip, insinuating that you have leah wrapped around your finger, and leah rolls her eyes at her, flipping her off.

soon after, the first movie ends and everyone decides to take a small break before the second movie. beth makes a joke about it being half-time, nobody laughs. you go to reach for your drink, only to find it’s empty. a hand wraps around yours, stealing the glass from you.

“i’ll go get us refills.”

leah kisses your cheek as she de-tangles herself from you and heads towards the kitchen. viv shakes her head in amusement as she looks at you.

“she would have hit me if i even asked her to get me a drink. i don’t know what you’ve done to her y/n.”

you laugh and shrug your shoulders, joking with viv as leah re-enters with your drink, passing it to you before slotting herself back into her seat next to you with a hand on your thigh. katie watches in disbelief before she turns to her own girlfriend

“ruesha, i’m thirsty.”

part four: as the only heiress to the throne, you had your royal duties, that meant you meeting with the lionesses ahead of the world cup.

you sighed as scorpius drove to st. george’s park, it was the last thing on your schedule for the day. your father wanted you to greet and wish the best with the 2023 world cup approaching.

you were literally stuck with media duties, something you quite hated. it was the way the press would turn something around, which well annoyed you. as the car pulled up you saw sarina weigman, the lionesses’s head coach.

“i’m nervous.” you stated, as scorpius chuckled.

“the great y/n, nervous? social anxiety should be afraid.” scorpius joked, as you jokingly glared at him.

“it’s not like i’m dating their captain, i only met three of them. what if the rest of the team don’t like me?” you asked, as scorpius looked at you.

“they’ll love you, besides who could ever hate you.” scorpius said, as you laughed. a lot of people could, you thought.

the car came to a stop, as scorpius killed the engine before heading out to open your door. as your door opened, you stepped out confidently, shaking hands with the dutch manager as she gave you a small smile.

“it’s an honor, your highness.” sarina said, as you nodded.

“the pleasures all mine.” you walked in with sarina, scorpius following behind, always five feet apart. you were lead to a dining area where the lionesses had settled, a few taking a glimpse at you.

the coaching staff were at their designated table, while you joined the table of ella toone who sat with alessia russo, esme morgan, ellie roebuck and mary earps.

“are you really dating our skipper?” ella asked, in disbelief as alessia gently slapped ella’s arm to which you laughed at.

“yes, i am dating leah. is it that much of a shock?” you asked, as ella shrugged.

“you are the crown princess, while our skipper is well—just leah.” ella said, a bit loud making you wince as a few stopped to look at your table.

“just leah was the one i fell in love with, the seven year old that i met on the football pitch.” alessia gave you a soft smile; happy that their skipper had someone to love.

“what do you love about leah?” mary asked, as you gave her a contented smile.

“a lot, really. when we were kids, and i’d meet her on the pitch she’d bring me flowers ‘just because’. or how much she cares about this team, how she loves football, how serious she is. or how blue her eyes are.” you said, as keira gave you a nod of approval.

“has she taught you football?” ellie asked, as you nodded.

“when we were kids, and i’d meet leah on the pitch where we would play soccer. she’s taught me everything i know. she’d also let me borrow a pair of her boots, as we had the same shoe size.” ellie gushed at how cute it was.

“can you tell us more stories?” esme asked as you nodded.

“i had to play goal keeper, just to block lee’s shots. there was this one time, the ball had hit my face. leah rushed to me to check if i had broken anything, or if my nose was bleeding. let’s just say, she scared scorpius.” alessia laughed.

“scorpius?” esme asked as scorpius moved from his position, giving her a small smile.

“my bodyguard.” as you introduced him to the team, he went back to his original position.

“if you weren’t a princess, what job would you take?” keira asked, from the other table.

“well, i am majoring in physiotherapy. after that, i’d enter med school, and graduate.” as keira looked at you in shock.

“i always wanted to do more research, on why it’s more common for females to tear their acl.” you said, stunning those who heard your conversation.

“interesting, leah’s got a keeper.” mary said, as she winked. i laughed at her joke.

“quite literally, i joined a youth team as a goal keeper.” you said, as they looked at you with wide eyes.

“however i only played for about 4 years? before quitting.” ella looked at you in shock, mary was proud another goal keeper.

“i heard there’s a foosball table, would you join me in a game?” rachel asked as she passed by to which you nodded to.

yet here you were absolutely crushing the daly-bright duo, georgia was your partner.

“you’re good at foosball too.” rachel said as the game came to an end.

“what can i say, i’m great at many things.” you said, as you’ve taken lessons in a few instruments, played various sports, and etc.

“well, i believe it’s time for us to go, my lady. you have a date with ms. williamson.” scorpius said, as you flushed.

“can we stop and get flowers?” you asked, as scorpius nodded. keira definitely approved of you, it was cute, your relationship with leah.

A very fluffy one Leah has a event which readers comes with as her date, and Leah gets really drunk and reader just takes care of her as the good partner they are and Leah is just really giggly and talking about anything, stumbling around. Reader just helping Leah to their home, to get out of her clothes and get to bed, just admiring her girlfriend.

The final whistle blows and goosebumps appear on your arms. They had done it. The lionesses had won the Euros! You cheered your girlfriend on from the seats at Wembley stadium with her friends and family. You turned to your right seeing Leah’s mum crying in pure joy and happiness. Leah had captained England to win the Euros and you couldn’t be prouder.

She celebrated on the pitch with all her teammates and walked around the pitch applauding all the fans. She walked back over to where she knew you and her family would be and waved up to you and she even blew you a kiss to which you reciprocated the action and mouthed ‘I love you’. You could see how proud she was by the happy tears in her eyes and the huge smile that wouldn’t leave her face. The smile you fell in love with years ago.

Later that evening

The England players had already opened the drinks as soon as they entered the changing room and had started the celebrations as soon as the whistle was blown so it was no doubt they were already tipsy when their family and friends had arrived at the hotel in party clothes.

As you walked through the doors with Leah’s family she was quick to greet you. Her hands placed firmly on your waist as she gives you a kiss on the lips. The sweet taste of alcohol evident on her tongue.

“Hey baby.” She said raising her voice over the loud music. “We did it!”

“Yes you did and I am so proud of you!” The music was too loud to speak normally so you’d have to get used to practically shouting this whole evening. You placed more kisses on her lips to show just how proud you were. After your greeting you let her talk with her family as they all hugged and congratulated her and her big win.

Meanwhile you went and found one of your best friends, Ella toone. Ella had already been drinking so she was quick to get you a drink and encourage you to down it, which you did.

Leah had found you with Ella and Alessia joking around with the two. Her arm had found your waist and she had immediately pulled you into her with a drink held in her other hand.

ABBA started playing and Leah’s eyes lit up and she ran straight for the dance floor. You couldn’t help but laugh at her love for the band and her questionable dance moves. Alessia turned to you and shouted, “She’s so drunk. Have fun trying to get her out of here later” The Italian laughed with Ella. You just stood with a smile on your face living how happy Leah looked right now. You’ve held her during some of the darkest times in her life so seeing her so care free at this point in time makes you just as happy.

3:00am

After partying the night and early morning away with more drinks and dances it was finally time to head to bed. They were heading to Trafalgar square later on and some sleep was much needed. You were definitely more sober than Leah so you thought it would be easy to get her to bed.

You thought wrong.

There were less than 10 people at the party and the music had been turned down. Leah was still dancing with Lucy Bronze to what felt like the millionth song of the night. You slowly made your way to Leah with Keira Walsh by your side, both of you trying to get your girlfriends to bed.

“Lee, we need to head to bed now, you need some sleep” You said, hand guiding her to look at you. She looked at you like you had just said the worst insult to her.

“Me and Lucy are dancing!” She wined but immediately giggled as she took her gaze off of you and onto Lucy who was in the same state as Leah, if not worse.

“You can dance more tomorrow, but you need to get some rest, my love” You took her hand and started slowly walking to the elevator, soon having to wrap her arm around your shoulders to support her walking. No doubt she was a stumbling mess. Her giggles filled the corridors of the hotel as she found every small thing funny.

Unlocking the door to your shared room, you guided her to the bed. She sat watching you through squinted eyes as you found her some comfy clothes to sleep in. “May I?” You asked as you held the waistband of the bottoms she was wearing. She gave you permission with a “Yes”. As you were helping her change you could see the tiredness in her eyes so you helped her get comfy under the duvet.

“Lay down and go sleep my love.” You told her and with that, she did.

I genuinely think any art curriculum should have at least one required business class because holy shit it is a major gap.

Also advice for animation jobs outside of TV/Film/Video Game animation. I know those are the things people think of when they think of animation, but it's also easy to get pigeonheld into thinking those are the only jobs (or the only *real* jobs) out there.

If you ever watch the movie *A bugs life* I can’t help but headcanon Lich’s voice as Hopper cuz he’s a bully and a boss man.😅 especially the last scene where the ants finally are fed up with him and face him for being a tyrant that he is.

That's awesome you have a voice you can hear for Lich. I haven't watched a Bugs Life in a long time, but I liked the movie as a little kid. I can see the parallels with the characters.

Originally, when I first came up with the concept of Lich's character (Can’t even remember what I originally named him. Maybe it was the same name. Can’t remember. Wow…

Either way, Lich's original backstory/ role in a fanfic [I won't name because I wrote it in middle school and it was AWFUL], was very different from what it is now. The plot of the fuc was a ripoff of the movie ,“Heavy Metal” so Ronnie James Dio or Alice Cooper were the two voices I usually associated him with. "The Mob Rules" and "The Black Widdow" are Lich's theme songs.

BUT Kevin Spacey's voice fits Lich very well, now that you pointed it out.

He is oozing with Hopper vibes.

If I had an obscene amount of money to spend, I would hire these voice actors/actresses/ singers (resurrect them from the grave if necessary) to play my ocs and/or Characters from Invader Zim that never officially were assigned hired voice actors.

At least most of my Irken ocs have voices picked out.

Pepperoncini: Sir Christopher Lee (?) Earle Hyman (?) Even those two would have to pitch their voices lower and more gravely. Cini's voice, especially in his later years, is very, VERY deep and ravaged by centuries of smoking pipe amber. I guess the contrast in his bright, lighthearted, bubbly personality amuses me.

I can’t think of a voice that perfectly matches the voice Cini has in my head. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I loosely based his personality on Phyllis Diller and Vincent Price, to give an idea of his mannerisms.

Spinch: Martha Kelly (so shy)

Hoola: Eric Bauza (His personality is based on Daffy Duck, though lacking in WB toon antics and the lisp.)

Miyuki: I'm sure plenty of people would disagree with me, but I think Cher (or at least a younger Cher), Lynne Lipton (again, younger), or Cree Summer would make great choices for Miyuki.

Poly!Mayor Buckman and Granny Boone: You’ve been totally overworking yourself at the pub recently and today you wake up sick as a dog- and well, there’s no damn way that your partners are going to let you leave the house until you’re 100% better. *This is set in the world of This Oneshot, where they’re in love with you but you’re uncomfortable with the whole thing… but also subconsciously like them a lot too.

Wheezy Weasel: Turns out your boyfriend, who is not the picture of health himself, is actually quite good at taking care of people when they’re sick. You now know how the rest of the Toon Patrol have survived to adulthood. (Sidenote: Especially Smartass. That man does not stop to rest.)

Warnings: Boone and Buckman lightly kidnap you but only out of love, and Wheezy undresses you but its really not sexual at all. Its all fluff ^^

Human!Chucky Lee Ray:

“Easy does it, easy does it… agh!- “

The sound of Chucky toppling through your bedroom window rouses you from your heavy dozing session, and when all the pain comes back to your head and your nose starts dripping once again you let out your own groan; Throwing the blankets over your head to hide from the world. “Chuckyyyy!”

“Fuck, I always forget how high up this damn window is. You should put a step stool here for me, one of these days I’m gonna break my face.” He grumbles, making a cacophony of creaky and flappy sounds as he gets up and brushes himself off. 

“Get outtt,” You groan again, squeezing your eyes shut. His loud voice is grating on your very sensitive earbuds right now. Feeling the bed dip beside your hips, you assume Chucky has sat down and when a hand lands on your waist, you sigh. “… I’m sick, Chucky… “It would be nice if he would comfort you, but you kinda doubt it.

“Ohh… Yeah, that explains the clinical atmosphere in here. You at deaths fucken door, or something?”

Sniffling, you roll over under his hand to face him and nod under the covers. “Yes.”

“You are not, shut up.” Despite his annoyingly harsh words, Chucky slides down to lay on the mattress next to you, above the covers though. “Well, guess I’m not getting any… go back to sleep, then. Just stay under those blankets, I don’t need to be catching whatever disease you caught.”

Peaking just your eyes out from under the blanket and your noise is as nasally as it gets- it makes him snigger but you ignore it. “You’re staying?”

He smirks, yanking the blankets back up over the rest of your head. “It’d be kinda of rude of me, to turn up here to fuck you but just leave cuz I can’t… wouldn’t it?”

“Yes.”

“Then I guess I’m staying here.”

“… Thank you.” You know Chucky’s not great with his emotions, he’s always either too hot or too cold but this is an uncharacteristically soft moment for him- you’re going to enjoy it while it lasts.

It jostles you when he moves to get comfortable, stealing a pillow that was half under your head and folding it under his own, sleep entering him voice as he settles down. “Mhm.” Okay. Comforted by the fact he’s going to stay, you let your heavy eyelids fall shut again and snuggle closer to his warm body. “… mm, sleep tight… “

Poly!Mayor Buckman and Granny Boone:

At first when you wake up and force your body up into a sitting position, you have no clue where you are. You’re squinting around at the unfamiliar bedroom you’re in all alone, feeling a confused sense of dread flood your blood stream- the kind where you don’t move a muscle, just your eyes as you gaze about the room and try to figure out the puzzle.

… Until you’re suddenly thrown into the worst coughing fit of your life- just really terrible. It make syour eyes water and mucus build up in your throat. When it’s over, thankfully, you give a big, terrible sniffle and groan long and hard into your hands. Whatttttttttttttt? No… I can’t be sick… Noooooo… You have a business to be running! Where the fuck are you and where did this virus come from? None of this will at all do-

“You’re awake, then! ~ “The door immediately across from you opens up then, and you’re not even surprised at who comes in- exasperated, yes. Nauseous at the sight of syrup drenched pancakes in her hands, yes.

But not surprised.

“Boone… “You start, and find that you’re voice is as course as it gets, and promptly lose your mouth because- ow.

“I think you should go back to sleep for a while, but I got you some breakfast here to pick at first! You need your strength, sweetheart~ “

I’m not your sweetheart, you think, giving her a deadpanned glare as she comes forward with the stack of sugar dressed up as Breakfast. Usually pancakes would make you happy, but right now with how you’re feeling and your sore throat? Hell no. Just smelling them make you feel like being sick. “… that’s okay.” You force out, despite the pain. “I’m fine. I’m just going to go to wor- “

“Your throat must be killing you,” Boone laments, ignoring you entirely as she sinks down on the bed beside you. “Georges coming with some lemon and honey tea, that’ll fix it right up!”

… that actually does sound pretty helpful. “Thank you, but- “

“Don’t talk honey, we’ve got you.” Boone cuts you off again. Yes, that would be the problem, you sigh in resignation, but go totally stiff when the woman reaches over and tucks some of your hair behind your ear; A deeply concerned look on her face. “Where is that old bastard with the tea?” She seems to mutter to herself, then, and you’re rolling your eyes when he appears.

The mayor takes a seat on the opposite of your legs that Boone is on and wraps your hands around the mug in your lap, wrapped in a tea towel so it doesn’t hurt to hold. “Goodmorning darlin!~ Gotcha some tea, here- careful, its hot.”

Yep- not your darling. But thanks, I didn’t realise that tea was hot. Nodding gratefully nonetheless of your sarcastic inner thoughts, you cup the mug carefully in your lap and your body actually relaxes to the smell- embarrassingly enough. You can feel the stuffiness in your head clearing as the steam wafts up to your face.

Boone’s feeling your forehead, which must feel like a kettle, and frowning. “Make sure you force some food down, too, an empty stomach’ll just make it all worse.”

Taking a glance at the pancake sin her lap, you press your lips together in a straight line quickly and look away. “… How did I get here? Y’all didn’t kidnap me, did you?”

It was a joke, apparently a poor one though because Buckman almost looks guilty when he goes to answer. “Well… not per say… I don’t think… “

What!? “Not per say??”

“Well, you fainted at the pub and we- well, we made an executive decision to just… take you home after that.” Honestly, it’s a mystery to you sometimes that he is the smooth talker in this damn town. You open your mouth to say something about his lack of tact, when the full meaning of his words set in.

“- I fainted??!”

“You’ve been workin’ real hard lately, sweetheart,” Boone explains, producing a damp cloth from a bowl on the side table and pressing it gently to your head. At the same time, her husband pats your hand, and- And it feels good, damnit! You wish you would have the strength right then to fly out of there like a bat from hell, but you just… don’t. Too tired, too sick… too weak. “It was likely to catch up to ya eventually- you really shouldn’t push yourself so hard... ”

“I’m fine- “  

“Oh, so you don’t mind collapsin’ on the floor in front of the whole darn town every now and then?” Buckman cuts in, raising his brows at you- to which you roll your eyes at and turn away from him. Well, no, you don’t enjoy that. “In that case, maybe we should just install some mats- “Turning to Boone, he continues the lark and if looks could kill then your mayor would be dead and buried by now. “What do you think, dear, bear skin or cotton?”

“I’d say both, considering the big ol’ egg forming on their forehead here.” Oh, so it will be twin graves.

“So right.”

“… “Cheeks warm from more than just your fever, you glare at them both hard for a good moment, before being angry at all becomes too exhausting a thought and you just give a deeply frustrated sigh; Lifting the mug to your face and avoiding eye contact with either of them.

Hopefully you get better real quick.

Wheezy Weasel:

As soon as you admitted that you were sick, Wheezy had you up on your feet and was marching you off to the bathroom. “C’mon… “He mumbles in that lazy drawl of his, closing the door behind you both. You stand there with your arms crossed, just struggling to stand as you watch him reach into the shower and turn the taps on. He feels until the water is a good, hot temperature and steam billows out of the cubical before stepping back and gesturing with his thumb to the stream. “Test that,”

While you reach in delicately and check it yourself, nodding when you get used to it quickly, Wheezy kneels down and starts unlacing your shoes. You drop your arm back down to your side, the limb too heavy to hold up for long, and give your boyfriend a little peculiar smile. “Wheezy… “

“Just relax Y/N, I aint gonna try anything.”

“I believe you… “You’ve been together for nearly half your lives now, seeing eachother naked is not a big deal. I mean, you like it of course, but it doesn’t have to be about- its not always- there’s not always a sexual undertone. You feel comfortable with him, is what you mean.

“Okay, step outta those.”

As you follow his instructions, slipping your feet easily out of the sneakers that he loosened up for you, he gets up again and unbuttons your shirt. “I can take care of myself, you know?”

He gives a huff and rolls his eyes. “As a matter a fact, no, I don’t know that. You tried to go t’ work today. So that means, I’m in charge now.” You can’t help the little, tired grin on your face as you let him help you out of your shirt, even holding your arms up for him when he guides them up into the air so that he can lift your undershirt carefully over your head. “So deal with it.”

“Yes sir.” You tease, getting a rough chuckle from the smoker as he moves onto your pants. Getting more and more tired the more you stand, you take advantage of his presence in front of you and wrap your arms over his shoulders to help hold you up; Letting your head fall forward and your eyelids fall shut while he focuses on unbuckling, unbuttoning and unzipping your bottoms.

Once he shoves your pants and underwear down, you step out of them and he chucks your discarded outfit onto the bench before guiding you towards the shower. “Alright, lock the door when I leave. Don’t need Greasy or Psycho waltzing in here while yer relaxin’.”

“Hmm,” You hum, eyes still closed. When he gives you a kiss on the forehead, though, you open them up slowly and look up at him only slightly adoringly… okay super adoringly, because he’s perfect and oddly kind and you know you’re so lucky to have him. “Okie.”

With his hand still cupping half your face, Wheezy gives you a half stern look. “Stay in there until you feel your sinuses loosen up, okay?”

“Yep~ “

“I’ll bring ya pyjama’s in a couple minutes and leave ‘em on the floor outside. Then go straight t’ bed, and I’ll bring ya some soup.”

“Yes sir… “

“Hm,” He huffs again, a lazy smirk spreading across his face for a moment before he gives you another forehead kiss, pats your back, and leave you to it.

The DisInsider sometimes successfully clues us in on what's happening, and sometimes they're way off. Remember how they reported that the 2022 D23 would reveal to us a 2D Disney animated movie called BLUEBEARD (based on the fairy tale of the same name) and a Pixar picture called SUMER? That same report also said INSIDE OUT 2 would be revealed... It was.

But yeah...

Anyways, the latest scoop says DUCKS is a thing (even though the Fine Tooning podcast, co-hosted by entertainment writer Drew Taylor and Disney reporter Jim Hill, said that there is no so much movie being made within the walls of Emeryville), in addition to a third FINDING NEMO movie and an INCREDIBLES 3. Well, what I'll say is this... I think both of those are inevitable. Sequels to favorites tend to do well, and they fund the riskier, original stuff. So yeah, don't be surprised if one of those happens. FINDING DORY and INCREDIBLES 2 were both billion dollar behemoths upon release. Regular moviegoers love those characters and worlds, so they'll be back, even if the online animation fandom deems their sequels to be "mid" or whatever.

Honestly, I wonder if Pixar will ever consider another CARS movie. We did have that CARS ON THE ROAD series two years back, and 2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of the franchise. CARS 3 arrived 11 years after the original, but I think it was kinda bogged down at the box office by how poorly-received CARS 2 was (even audiences weren't too keen on that one) and the existence of two PLANES movies. I think it kinda made for CARS overkill. Ever since CARS 3, we've only had the aforementioned Disney+ series and maybe some short buried in there somewhere. Maybe a nice long gap and not much stuff could do a potential fourth movie good? Honestly, I like the CARS world, the movies are light and fun and silly, I'd be fine with Pixar making a few more so they can fund originals just in case they struggle at the box office. Instead of yet another TOY STORY.

I think they're running out of the perennial favorites to do sequels to. A BUG'S LIFE 2 likely won't happen, and MONSTERS, INC. has its continuation in the form of MONSTERS AT WORK, though a sequel set after that isn't entirely off the table. I don't think you can feasibly do a sequel to RATATOUILLE or UP (the latter's DUG DAYS was a fine enough continuation, and Ed Asner passed away not too long ago), WALL-E's future world could possibly be open to a sequel? I dunno.

The 2010s was mostly sequels. Four originals, only. BRAVE, INSIDE OUT, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, and COCO. INSIDE OUT, of course, has a sequel that's right around the corner. I would be down for a BRAVE sequel honestly, given the fantastical world the original created. Hell, just to make things cooler, bring back Brenda Chapman and actually let her make that movie - as a sort-of last laugh for her after how she was treated by John Lasseter. GOOD DINOSAUR lost money at the box office, so that probably will never get any form of continuation. COCO, I feel, you can't make a sequel to. Its director Lee Unkrich retired, anyways.

Pixar can only sequelize the old favorites so many times. They're certainly trying with a fifth TOY STORY, for sure. I'm sure it'll also make a lot of money. But it's like, when is enough enough? When does the studio create a film that actually is meant to have continuations while still being a complete story? Almost like their equivalent to STAR WARS? Or heck, could they one day break their "original idea" tradition and make... An adaptation of a multi-book series?

I wouldn't rule it out! Remember the Blue Sky movie EPIC, based on the William Joyce book THE LEAF MEN AND THE BRAVE, GOOD BUGS? That was almost a Pixar film in the 2000s! Maybe in order to keep sequels a thing but without having to retread their classic favorites, Pixar could just adapt a book series, hope for the best for the first movie, and then make some sequels to pay for the originals.

But either way, there will be more sequels I feel. Maybe not to the most recent movies, but they've got the mine for it, and Disney certainly wants that easy dough.

I'll also point out that the scoop said more Disney Animation sequels are likely, and yes... So long as the movies do great. STRANGE WORLD and WISH certainly aren't getting sequels, while I feel ENCANTO will get one, or at least a series. RAYA, maybe? They could've given us more WRECK-IT RALPH movies, given how much they can play (hah) with the video game settings, but they decided to do a separate-ways ending with RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET. So that seems to be off the table. Seems like it'll be FROZEN, ZOOTOPIA, and MOANA for a bit. Not sure if a BIG HERO 6 sequel will happen anytime soon, as we had a Disney TV Animation series for that *and* a WDAS-made Disney+ series. Disney can't really sequelize anything further back, like pre-Lasseter, for various reasons. TANGLED got a whole series that really expanded the film's world and did its own thing, a sequel would either have to build off of that or ignore it all completely... And I'm sure that would sit well with fans, haha. The weird thing is, I can see a TANGLED sequel happening because it would play off of nostalgia for the original, which turns 14 this year. But again, would it integrate the TV series and possibly alienate people who have only watched the movie? Or would it ignore the show continuity and upset fans? That's a tricky one, they'd have to really market the show before theoretical release.

There are even rumors that the TIANA series being made for Disney+ will be re-formatted as a movie much like the MOANA series was, but... Who would do the 2D animation if WDAS doesn't truly have a functioning 2D unit? Would it still be Mercury Filmworks, who are said to be doing the animation for it? Or would they have a sort-of Duncan Studio-type house do it? Would it be switched to CGI? A PAPERMAN/WISH-like movie? It raises plenty of questions.

Only time will tell. I find the prospects fascinating to say the least, but I really do hope we hear about more originals from both houses... Especially WDAS... In the coming months.

Late night Sundrop and Moondrop HCs!!

this adorable goober- He’d totally playfully tickle kids or even the workers to cheer them up, he doesn’t like seeing people sad. He always wants to see the heartwarming smiles on their faces!!

He’d say words like ‘Tickle tickle, Sunshine!’ or like ‘Suns gonna gitchee gitchee getcha!’ He isn’t as merciless as Moondrop thankfully, so after a couple minutes he’d stop and give you a warm hug! He’d also probs poke at your sides and then turn around, whistling like nothing happened.

but holy hell I feel like Sun would be REALLY ticklish (if people could ever program that-) One hell of a squirmy lee, maybe he’d snort-

but he’d be all like ‘WAHAIT PLEHEASE DOHONT DOHO THIHIS SUHUNSHIHINE! TIHIHICKLYY!’ However he wouldn’t try to push whoever is tickling him away. He wants to be happy after all and he loves to laugh! If anything he’d just hit the padded ground, laughing his ass off- he’d just continue to lauuugh laugh and laugh until the person stops, he’d take a bit to catch his breath b4 booping your nose and smile at you ‘Thanks for making me laugh sunshine! :D’ He’d be really happy and morr energetic, but once you tickle sunny it’ll become a tickle war.

Moon is such a terrifying ler jfc- when the lights are off you gotta be running fast, bc we all probably know what happens when he catches you. This mans up for a chase, he’ll just chase you wiggling his fingers going ‘Get back here, Moonshine! it’s time for bed :))’

he’ll just catch you either way- even if he has to play hide and seek to catch ya.

Bros the type to hover his hands over a spot and wiggle his fingers, whether it being kids who are up too late or the nightguards/workers. The tickles would start off as light but then he’d quickly lift up his fingers and then go all out, humming the daycare toon simply tuning out your hysterical laughter. He’d say words like ‘Aww, tickletickletickle Moonshine!~ you should’ve been in bed by now :)’

He’d look at you w that devilish smile, continuing to tickle tf out of you humming the small cute little tune, stopping a couple minutes later, picking you up and bringing you to bed.

I don’t see Moon as the type who enjoys physical affection, but I feel like he’d be quite ticklish and would try to stop you immediately. He’d only rlly snicker at first and tell you to stop, not wanting to break out in embarrassing laughter- Before you can tickle him more he’d grab you, lift you up and the tables will be turned

When you say that the plasticky look on the Maya models might have been an aesthetic choice to make the characters stand out, do you mean an active choice in how they model the characters or a choice as in choosing to use Maya which has plasticky models? Like, if they put the same time into the models that they have to improve the backgrounds, could Maya RWBY have actually well textured models? Are the bad models a Maya limitation or a RWBY one?

Maya is a legit industry-level 3D software, so it was likely capable of everything Poser was and much more, hence the change. The problem was less with the engine and more with the art direction.

Since Monty was no longer there, RT clearly needed to reorient themselves and find a new art direction for RWBY and its models. My guess is Monty based a lot of early RWBY's aesthetics on Japanese MMD style animations (hence the accusations that RWBY stole much of its Poser-era models from such) -- however, the Maya era art direction very clearly took more inspiration from more Western 3D productions, with some anime mixed in. The current Maya models rely heavily on cel-shading/toon shading, which was quite common for 3D animated cartoons at the time.

So yes, Maya could very well have well-textured models - it was obvious in the environments and other props they made. I think the main problem lay more with the fact that none of RWBY's showrunners are artists or necessarily visually-minded.

They're largely writers or did Red vs. Blue, which is a machinima using existing assets from Halo. As such, they'd never had to create their models or designs from scratch. Monty however was also an artist and had many sketches of his characters that he conveyed to Ein Lee -- his skill may not be at the same level but he was clearly visual-minded and had strong visual impressions of what he wanted out of RWBY -- he sought out Ein Lee and Kristina Nguyen because their existing artstyles were a fit to how he imagined RWBY.

One thing to note that while Monty may not have "written" RWBY, he was its creator and main lead, as well as animator. He was wearing as many hats as he could wear. He knew what it would look like, what it would sound like, what the fights would feel like. These are all integral to the "vibe" of RWBY, i.e. more intangible but still important aspects of the series. Without him, it was essentially ripping out the mast of a ship, sails and all.

Even if RT was intending to faithfully follow Monty's style and preferences for the show's presentation (which I highly doubt they were), these sorts of mounting differences are inevitable. But some are more preventable than others, which is what I definitely consider the look of the models to fall under.

Bendy and The Ink Machine Tickle Headcanons

In celebration of Bendy and the Dark Revival, have some Bendy headcanons. A part 2 is planned

Bendy (toon):

Switch

As you'd expect, he's a ticklish little imp

Worst spot is the tummy, obviously

Will not hesitate to inact revenge if tickled

It's really easy to tickle him tho

He kicks, so watch out

He'll tap his fingers on you like a piano

He canonically doesn't have a tail, but I don't care

He has a tail and he uses it to poke people

Boris (toon):

Switch

Muzzles his nose into people's stomachs and neck

Worst spot is his underarms

Loves tickle fights, which he usually wins due to being the height of a basketball player

His ears are sensitive as well

Alice (toon):

Ler-leaning Switch

She occasionally engages in tickle fights, prefers to watch, however

Worst spot is her back, where her wings would be if she had them

Sings songs while tickling someone

Regularly wrecks Bendy for all the shit he causes

Her horns grow as she turns into a more evil ler

Henry:

Switch

His ribs kill him

Got tickled a LOT back when he worked in the studio

He's the dad friend, so he's a pretty good ler

His hands are a bit sensitive, too

He'll try to escape, so you'll have to hold him

Sammy Lawrence:

Switch

Surprisingly super ticklish

His laughter is like an angel's, it's beautiful

Death spot is definitely his hips

He's skinny, so it's easy to get him

Got wrecked by Jack, Susie, and Norman way too many times than he'd like to admit back when he was human

He will use his smooth voice to tease his victims

Taps on people's ribs like they're a piano

He actually was recorded while being tickled once, but he made sure to bury that tape where no one would ever find it

The searchers:

Lers

No one likes to touch them except Sammy, so they're typically lers

Everyone in the studio has been tickled at least once by these fellas

Their most frequent lees are Henry and Sammy

They just lay on top of you and wreck you

Jack Fain/Swollen Jack

Ler

Like all searchers, he mostly just tickles people

Jokingly puts his hat on people's faces while tickling them

Sammy's most frequent ler, both while human and ink creature

Isn't really ticklish

Lost Ones:

Mostly lees

They're all very skittish

Their laughs are echo-like

Will DEFINITELY try to escape, so you have to hold them

Mostly get tickled by Sammy and the searchers

Alice Angel (the psycho one):

Ler

Isn't very ticklish, but she might laugh if certain spots are attacked

Has wrecked Sammy on more than one occasion lmao

She WILL kill you of you try anything

Like her cartoon counterpart, she'll sing songs while tickling someone

She also did this back when she was Susie Campbell

Buddy Boris:

Lee-leaning Switch

Poor kid is just a nervous wreck

He's less ticklish than he was when he was human

(I might make tickle headcanons for Buddy Lewek someday?)

Doesn't really like to tickle anyone that he isn't close with

But he'd definitely wreck Henry

His death spot is his sides

Wally Franks:

You'd better believe this bastard is ticklish

Death spot is the knees

He'll DIE if you count his freckles

Tickles people as a prank, or just to cheer them up

Thomas has actually wrecked him more than once and vice versa

He sporadically pokes you everywhere

He doesn't mind being tickled, but he'll still haul ass

He's outta there

Norman Polk/The Projectionist

Ler

Was dubbed the "Tickle Monster of Joey Drew Studios" back when he was human

Everyone has been tickled at least once by him

Literally everyone

He was really ticklish as a human, but not anymore as an ink creature

Doesn't tickle anyone anymore

Joey Drew:

Ler

No one wants to touch this crusty old man

He isn't ticklish anyway

Has tickled Henry a lot though

And Abby

But that's about it

Ink Bendy:

Ler

Doesn't know what tickling is, but is intrigued as soon as he's introduced to it

Surprisingly just as ticklish as his toon counterpart

Even the same death spot

Everyone is scared of him, so he doesn't get to tickle someone very often

He has wrecked Henry and Sammy though

This poor boy is touch starved, and you can't convince me otherwise

So he doesn't mind being tickled

Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight: Freakazoid!- “Dance of Doom”

Freakazoid! is the best of Spielberg and Tom Ruegger’s collaborations, no questions at this time.

It’s also the one with the longest runtime on Cartoon Network, as Animaniacs and Tiny Toons had their airings cut short to switch over to Nickelodeon, while Pinky and the Brain never even made it with their own show on CN. Nickelodeon didn’t want the blue one, which always did better with adults than children, so that made it a perfect companion for Cartoon Network, where adults liked Mojo Jojo and Fred Flintstone at equal capacity.

Watching the first episode again, I can kind of understand why Freakazoid! didn’t catch on with kids- it’s way more madcapped than even Animaniacs at its wackiest- but at the same time, the show’s biggest sin, its love of old-school references that even parents would have trouble cracking every single one of, is absent. Give or take a David Lee Roth joke that’s more weird than mean.

In the first proper segment (not counting the opening weather forecast), Dexter Douglas is skipping the daylight savings dance since every desirable girl at his school has shot him down. It seems like he’ll have to go anyway, though, since Cave Guy holds the dance hostage for... reasons. Maybe if Bruce Timm and Paul Dini were more involved as planned, he’d have a real motive.

So here comes Freakazoid, who saves the day by being his usual, unpredictable self, complete with a memorable musical number that recalls Barbra Stanwyck in Ball of Fire. He even stops the weird clock guy with one of the most memorable meltdowns you’ll ever hear, which I also have to link to.

Unlike other shows with teenage superheroes, like Danny Phantom, American Dragon: Jake Long, or Timm and Dini’s own Batman Beyond, Freakazoid! doesn’t do too much with the double life scenario, and we don’t see a whole lot of Dexter Douglas on the show. This is among the closest we get to that kind of storytelling. Instead, this is pure wacky comedy. Like the follow-up segment, where Freakazoid’s own handy sidekick gets married.

Also, Batman has a guest appearance two years before he becomes a part of the Kids WB lineup.
