New “Rules” For Hitting A Quarterback

Trying to sack or even hit an NFL or College quarterback now a days is just as hard as trying not to laugh at one of Mr De Santis jokes he makes about himself, its literally impossible. The league has put in new rules for a defensive player who is going to make a tackle on the quarterback. For example one of them is you are not allowed to put your full body weight in the quarterback, another example is you are not allowed to hit the quarterback once the ball has be released. Out of these two rules the only one that makes sense is the second one. Because once the quarterback has let go of the ball they become a defenseless player and cant do anything to protect themselves. The other new rule on the other hand is just a straight joke, how is a ref suppose to judge if a player has put there full body weight on the quarterback if they aren't the ones getting hit. It has costed teams games because it is a hefty fifteen yard penalty. For example linebacker Clay Mathews of the Green Bay Packers. It was the final drive on defense all they need was a stop and they win the game on third and ten the Carolina Panthers needed a first down. As the play developed Clay came through the offensive line like Swiss cheese and sacked quarterback Cam Newton but seconds later was penalized for the hit which gave Carolina fifteen yards and they eventually won the game. Situations like this is the reason why I actually despise the new rule. I feel like it is taking the fun out of the game, its basically making it a baby sport literally no fun. If it were up to me I would change the rules so that the defensive player is allowed to hit the quarterback just not after the ball has been released, this is already a rule and is a rule I like because once the ball is gone there is nothing really they can do. The NFL and College football league are trying to protect there players but at the same time they are just taking the fun out of the sport.
