Barou starting a new relationship with a shy girl and how he would go about it
The literal personification of trying to mix oil with water
He was used to everyone looking at him in times of need on the field - he was the king after all - so he didn’t even notice how you would take a step back whenever it came time to ordering food, or any sort of public speaking and interactions.
He naturally took the lead, and you followed suit. Thanking the lord.
He honestly didn’t even notice how shy you were- he just kinda assumed you like hearing him talk. It wasn’t until he passed by an aisle of cute keychains and decided that he wanted to get you one when he realized… he kinda didn’t know anything about you.
I mean he did. He knew your name, your height…. The colour of your eyes…. And hair… and…
“So what do you do?” He asked bluntly as the two of you walked down a park, ice creams in hand. The one he ordered. “What?” “Hobbies? Sports? What do you do in your spare time?” He asked as he looked at you, determined to get an answer. “You know… the usual stuff-“ you awkwardly chuckle. “I don’t know actually.” He was a little shit about it.
But after literally interrogating you for an entire hour, he managed to squeeze out an answer from you. You were completely cornered by him, and you shyly tell him your hobbies. He looks dumbfounded, because to him those are completely normal and healthy hobbies for someone to have. He was starting to think you’re a grave robber by the way you were acting.
Knitting? He will get you the yarn, and parade a scarf you made for him and show all his teammates. Collecting something? He will always be on the lookout for what you like, even going as far as asking his teammates to be on the lookout as well. Video games? He will learn to play your favourite game with you. Cute farming sim? Silent hill? Niche indie game that only 3 people know about? You best bet he will ask for a 4 hour lore deep dive.
Very supportive.
Lwokey will get annoyed at your shyness at one point.
At first he thinks it’s cute, but he’s not the type of person to fully baby anyone, and will force you to order your own meal. He wants the best for you :(
Will say his order and look at you to say yours, watching you stumble on your words as you try to order some fries and a sprite. And will say he’s proud of you after. But doesn’t do it often because he can see the genuine terror in your eyes - only does it even it’s the two of you in line on a slow day.
Slowly learns to accept that you’re passionate in your own way. He’s loud and proud, whereas you like to keep to yourself. In a way he likes that you’re so open with him, that you let him see the stuff you don’t show other people. Thinks it’s adorable.
Will 100% try to make you more comfortable and less shy. You bought a new dress and don’t want to wear it, he will bluntly tell you it looks good and it would be a waste of money not to wear it.
Encourages your fashion choices. Polly pocket platform heels? He loves them. Bold lipstick? He will buy you earring that match. He quietly realized he liked seeing you happy. And you were happiest being yourself.
He’s not a big fan of grossly obvious PDA. Loves holding your hand or when you grab his bicep when you two walk together. You like it because it doesn’t draw unnecessary attention and he likes it cuz you’re always attached next to him and he doesn’t have to worry about actually loosing you. Plus he likes it when you grab his bicep.
Took forever to convince you to come to one of his games. You were too nervous to get into an arena with so many people - said you could come with a group of his teammates girlfriends - but you hated the idea of being with people you didn’t know.
He got really good at spotting you in the crowd. Didn’t matter where you were sitting, he just trained himself to see you. You were too shy to loudly cheer like everyone else, blending into the crowd due to that. But it didn’t matter.
In a weird way. He likes that hes the only one who gets to see you this happy, because hes the same with you. Slowly learning to take his guard down, be more open.
You’re learning to be confident while he’s learning to be trusting.

I watched Sinners in IMAX a few days ago.
I saw it after a long work day and basically had a religious experience.
My friend and I talked about it in the parking lot for an hour, and then I got home at 11:30pm and fell asleep with my phone in my hand at 1AM while writing down my thoughts about it in a doc (at the request of another friend). I took a half day off of work the next day to sleep in and wrote for 4 more hours, then finished cleaning up the doc a couple days later.
So here's about 4,000 words (?!?!) of my thoughts on this incredible fucking masterpiece of a movie.
Certainly not expecting anyone to read this but I do want to put it here for myself :) Because this is how I have fun for some reason!
Disclaimers:
I’m not Black so I’m obviously discussing topics outside the realm of my experience / culture and could be completely off the mark on anything. Apologies in advance if I am. I also assume I’m not the first to say any of this analysis.
These are my initial thoughts and interpretations before deep-diving or Googling or reading interviews about this movie! (That's my rule.) Just from my brain’s first watch and my limited knowledge of history and sociology.
---------------
-I cannot fucking wait to rewatch this movie with subtitles someday because I know for a FACT I missed some things.
-I liked how Stack drove the red car and Smoke drove the blue truck :) so cute. I was like yaaayyy, hammer home this visual separation so I can get a sense of them as individual people before we keep going, thank you <3 so many good framing and color and lighting choices throughout this movie that foreshadowed things too!
-Lowkey I totally get why people probably want sequels and spinoffs of this universe to learn more lore, but I felt very content with where it left us. The themes/subtext are so strong and so well-executed that the story feels fairly complete in that regard to me because it had things to say and said them well. Not to say the metaphors couldn’t be continued in more storytelling and worldbuilding, obviously, and I’d eat it up if they did decide to do it… But I also think what we got feels fairly satisfying to me.
-However: WHERE IS MY CHOCTAW NATION VAMPIRE HUNTERS SPINOFF. GODDAMN!!! Also love how we get them for literally 3 minutes and they embody every aspect of this movie’s messaging perfectly. Insanely cool shit
Okay anyway
-The opening intro makes such a bold claim about how the music we’re about to hear that’s so incredibly beautiful. It talks of music that transcends time and holds so much power it attracts outside dark forces. And then… when Sammie first plays and opens his mouth to sing… Stack’s reaction is our reaction in the audience, because that claim is immediately upheld as believable. You immediately believe the folklore’s validity because of his skills. Astonishing feat. Holy fucking shit. God I love blues music
-The opening sets up the unsubtle thesis, but then Slim’s story in the car (and its beautiful sound design!!!) after they see the slaves take encouragement / heart through music underscores it all. It felt like a powerful tool to further set up a grounding for the supernatural we were about to see play out, and a reminder of its intended metaphors. Slim’s brother was a blues player who was lynched for the crime of simply existing in his Black joy and trying to get to make a bigger life for himself, and (as Annie later tells Smoke) money was no true power that could save him. In fantasy and reality, when people of color are just living with authentic joy by enjoying their own unique culture and music and lives, it attracts white supremacists who want to gleefully, hatefully leech from or destroy all of it.
-And then Ryan Coogler really was like, “Just in case you missed this movie’s unsubtle messages, we are going to be loud.” The way the vampire fight isn’t the final violence or the point… God. Instead, we end on the justified KKK slaughter. The real klan, the actual reason all of this happened because they set it up, the start of it all and the white supremacy that fuels the darkness. It says, These are the true monsters, and don’t you fucking forget it.
-But, our plot’s main monster is REMMICK. He’s no Southern white man. He’s specifically Irish! I fucking love that they did this. So much nuance here. Remmick has been isolated from his own people, heritage, and language through colonialism and the rise of the Baptist Christian church. Cornbread tells him (and the 2 Klan members…) that there are plenty of other spaces for them and their banjo music, and while of course he’s right – Black people (and POC in general) deserve their own safe spaces of expression, and too often white people are trying to encroach on those – for Remmick, there’s sadness here too. Those other white spaces are not his spaces either. He’s Irish and Celtic; they’re not his culture. He’s adrift and has no place, disconnected from his home, Othered by being an Irishman and a vampire, and the loss of his own culture and family has him desperately seeking attachment to others’ – but in the worst way. His fate is what he now violently forces onto others. While he ostensibly hates the KKK, he aligns with them indiscriminately in search of connection and his own survival, and he essentially helps them achieve their goal of destroying Black people – a mirror to how, in history, Irish people benefitted from white supremacy for their survival at the expense of Black people. (And a mirror, of course, to how white people broadly try to steal from Black culture daily.) Remmick’s message is basically “just assimilate and be free,” simultaneously asking them (especially Sammie) to assimilate into his culture for his sake because it’s what he needs, yet assimilation is clearly its own form of entrapment and death. It’s a tragedy that it was what Remmick was faced with as an Irishman, but it’s a larger inexcusable tragedy that he turned around and decided to perpetuate the same cycle of violence onto others in alliance with white supremacy.
-Of course, we see this most in the contrast between the music ensembles (and holy shit, SHOUT OUT TO THE ASPECT RATIO CHANGES IN THESE!!! Religious experience!!!). Sammie’s “I Lied to You” blues music is transformative and joyful, inspiring multicultural connection and appreciation that honors history and genres. It’s filled with warmth and life, and is perhaps even a hopeful depiction of the true melting pot of America. But Remmick’s “Rocky Road to Dublin” song with the vampires he’s turned has everyone washed out, looking and sounding homogeneous in a sinister way, blending together in the perfect terrifying depiction of what assimilation does. Individuality and different cultures are gone; there is now only this, powered by the violence of whiteness. Remmick’s supposed position being “We believe in equality” is of course a farce, and though he’s not motivated by racism (like the KKK), he has no qualms with aligning with its results. More importantly, his enforced assimilation in the name of supposed equality brings to mind the harmful modern adages of “I don’t see color” and other similar positionings which erase differences in culture rather than honor them. Add to that the moments where Remmick showcases having the memories and skills of people he’s turned, who are now all “connected” to each other but in a way where they’ve lost all individuality. When he speaks Chinese, it’s a moment of horror because it’s a language he didn’t learn for genuine connection but rather stole for cultural appropriation, and then he specifically uses it as a tool of violence (and threats of sexual assault!) against Grace.
-ANNIE. I find it fascinating how she kind of embodies the movie’s critique of the Christian church and evangelism as a tool of white supremacy to placate Black Americans and encourage or enforce assimilation. Annie practices (to my knowledge) hoodoo, occult magic from African culture and a form of spirituality that Christians would obviously deem evil and sinful. But here, her mojo bags and ancestral knowledge are the only things that keep anyone safe. (Notably, Christian crosses did nothing for protection.) She’s another layer to the concepts of being in touch with your culture and ancestors… and she chooses death rather than turning/assimilation or losing her sense of identity. I couldn’t help but think about the history of African slaves jumping overboard from ships because they chose to die on their own terms rather than live in enslavement.
-SLIM. He’s the Black elder who’s seen and experienced and survived horrendous, evil things. Yet despite it all, he’s the comedic relief of the movie. While Slim drinks to repress the trauma (which is objectively not the most healthy decision and it’s constantly pointed out), it doesn’t compromise his connection to his music or to his people. Despite everything, he’s still filled with joy and good humor and wisdom – something that feels very true to life in regards to the fortitude of so many Black elders. And when push comes to shove, he puts his life and body on the line to be ripped to shreds (not assimilated!) by the destructive forces coming for his culture and his people in an attempt to protect them. I fucking loved him.
-MARY. She’d be considered Black by the One-Drop Rule / Jim Crow laws, and she’s grown up in this community, but… she’s not really Black. She feels Othered by that, yes, and it was a natural continuation (to me) to know that was going to result in her becoming a vampire in the plot. Of course there’s a level of sympathy to be given to her and her situation, in the sense that she’s also a victim of segregation, as anyone in an interracial relationship was. She just wanted to live with the man she loves but society wasn’t structured to allow that. But at the end of the day, she still had safety in the ways she was able to move through the world as a white woman — and power. (Stack tells Sammie not to look at her at the train station; if white people claim a Black man looked at a white woman the wrong way, it can turn into a lynching.) It’s notable that Mary is able to go speak to the white people/vampires with less perceived risk to her in ways none of the Black people could… and then she’s also able to be metaphorically turned to their way of seeing things. It’s not an accident that she’s the first turned, then them letting her in and Smoke fucking her is what kickstarts their collective downfall. Mary was a “safe” white person for her Black family all their lives, until abruptly she wasn’t. A too true-to-life tragic possibility.
-PEARLINE. She’s a bold, unapologetic Black woman connected to her culture who chooses her own freedom and authenticity vs Christian traditionalism. A sinner through “infidelity” – a word which can mean being unfaithful to a partner, or unfaithful to religious/Christian belief. And she dies because of it.
-[Side note: super interesting to see the scene of Pearline’s musical beats being timed with the violence of Smoke and the other men killing a guy who was threatening the haven of solidarity and community they’d built. A commentary on being distracted by in-fighting while the real enemy and evil of white supremacy is on the move]
-GRACE. The embodiment of how, when shit is going down, POC solidarity can crumble. At the start, we see her and her family being on “both sides” with the white and Black stores, and able to cross between those 2 stark worlds/realities with ease. “We didn’t sign up for this,” Grace says, when the evil white people come for the Black people; the fun and the culture, but not the fight. Then she makes the selfish and individualized decision to let the evil in at the expense of everyone else. And yet… Her name. Grace. Does the story want us to grant her a little bit of it? I’d argue Smoke gives her grace, because he includes her and her husband in his fond and motivating memories of the earlier parts of the day. Is what Grace does defendable? No, but perhaps it’s meant to be understandable. In the moment, she’s not thinking of saving her own skin or uselessly trying to save her husband; she’s thinking of wanting to protect her daughter and the rest of the town, so instead of choosing passivity, she opts to protect them by addressing and destroying the monsters head-on so they can’t continue their evil mission. But unfortunately, in another example of lack of solidarity, she goes straight to destroy her husband and her fight stops there regardless of everyone else’s fight. Her vindictive revenge turns into mutual destruction because she burns up with him. And she’s perhaps also an example of how when someone is so focused on being combative with a person who broke their tradition they forget to focus on what they still have to protect.
-Speaking of names… lol. CORNBREAD. Obviously there was intentional comedic relief happening in the scene where he’s pissing in the woods and monsters are hidden around him whispering “Is that cornbread?” lmaaaooo but also… Not just silliness! Cornbread is historical food for survival and resilience that has roots in several different cultures. It stems from making something from very little under the forces of oppression and enforced famine, and it’s what the Indigenous people, Black Southern Americans, and the Irish all made. Something that should be or could be a source of connection and a way to let each other in (as he was the doorman!), but instead becomes another tool of violence and of a right vs wrong way to be.
-SMOKE. Violence as protection, and a burden to be shouldered for tenderness and love. He killed his father to protect Stack. He killed Annie because she asked him to. He sent Sammie away to face and kill the KKK men by himself, knowing he might be killing himself in the process. I think of the scene where he’s dying and Annie in the afterlife is watching him while holding their child. As Smoke unloads bullets into the dying klan member, she doesn’t flinch at his violence, and neither do we as the audience. It’s righteous and justified, and in the very next moment, he holds his daughter softly. The violence stands in contrast to his connection to his brother and lover and daughter, but it’s not antithetical to it or a threat to it. Defense of Black culture – and Black masculinity itself – is not inherently violent. Smoke is not his violent father; he broke that cycle too. He is tender and loving, and it’s the reason for his protectiveness and informs his violence that’s directed outward in defense of his family, and especially at the vampires and white supremacists. There’s also something to be said for how Smoke has these violent skills and weapons because he was a soldier in WWI. He served a country that treats him and his people as less than human. And Grace even tells him, “Aren’t you a soldier?” Yes, he was. He shouldn’t have to be at home. And yet, this too is a war, with him and his people being constantly besieged when all they want is peace. Along those lines: At first, Smoke thought that money could be a form of power, to the point of nearly slipping into valuing it more than community when it came down to payment for drinks at the juke joint. But he internalizes and learns especially from Annie that money can’t save you; money didn’t save Slim’s brother who was lynched, and the twins throwing money at a Klan member for the juke joint didn’t stop them from pulling up to their door. Smoke comes to fully learn that All we have is family, community, and our traditions, and we can’t let them take that. Perhaps that’s also part of the reason why he couldn’t kill Stack in the end, instead killing Remmick (as he killed their father) to give Stack his best chance at freedom.
-SMOKE & STACK. The older brother looking at his now-wayward younger brother who suddenly feels like a different person. The twin who looks at his mirrored self and doesn’t recognize who he sees anymore. Who is Stack now? Did Smoke fail him? But there’s something in Stack that is still him, even though he’s forever changed, and ultimately Smoke can’t destroy that. From one sibling to another, it’s the thought of “I can’t abide by or agree with what you’ve become but I can’t destroy you either.” There’s no me without you in the sense that we’re forever tied, but also in the sense that we were instrumental in making each other who we are, for better and worse.
-“ELIJAH MOORE” VS “STACK.” Names are powerful. Smoke’s real name is used in the end as a nod to the connections to his history and roots, and also to his truest self, which he reunites with just as he reunites with Annie, their child, and spirituality in death. Contrast this with Stack, who is going by his nickname in perpetuity – a half name that’s forever cut off from Smoke as the other half, and a disconnect from his old self he’s buried. In the end credit scene, STACK is seen on his ring and visually tied to stacks of money under his hand, aka empty power at high cost. It’s a sad reversal of Stack’s prior thoughts on community and people being more important than profit, when he and Annie were united at the juke joint in pushing back against Smoke’s pursuit of “American dollars.”
-SAMMIE and “This Little Light of Mine.” My goodness. At the start of the movie, Sammie’s preacher father wanted him to sing gospel as a way to lead others in the church, but he never gets to in the context/timeline of the movie. We only hear the choir singing it in the opening instead without Sammie’s involvement. But then, the final credits scene: Sammie has his guitar, which we know doesn’t exist anymore because it’s the guitar he used to fight off demons (literal and metaphorical), and now he’s singing it as a blues song. Did he sing it in church at an earlier point before the events of the movie? Who knows. Doesn’t matter. What matters is this: Sammie’s preacher father tried to give him an ultimatum. Put down the guitar; put down the blues music and the dancing and the sex; put down the sinning. It all attracts darkness, so come back to church and return to the Lord. Be pure. The Christian church, explicitly used as a tool of oppression that benefits white supremacy. But even after the horrors and trauma Sammie experiences – some of which he even draws in through his music (and metaphorically his “sinning”), which is not his fault – Sammie won’t let it go. He can’t. It’s who he is, and it’s his culture and connection to his ancestors, and there’s nothing sinful about any of it. The music, the dancing, the fucking, or anything else. It’s all beautiful, and the embracing of it all then necessitates (because of his father’s ultimatum) a level of rejection of the church in order to continue to live. But despite all of that… The church (and perhaps some redefined aspect of faith) is still a part of him and his culture too. He carries it with him, which is a relatable notion for many people who were raised religious and either chose to walk away or were forced to because of the inherit ultimatums in its restrictions. And so: Sammie had been told to lead and use his music to shine his little light all around the world. It may not be for the church or in the way his father wanted, but by God, he still went out and did just that. In his way, on his terms, without forgetting where he came from.
-Sammie stands in church at the start of the movie. His pastor father has been pushing, Give me the blues guitar. Rejoin our congregation. Sing gospel. Sammie stands in church and it’s intercut with flashbacks of Remmick attacking him. Give me your music. Join our clan. Sing Irish folk songs for me. And yeah, Sammie’s grip on that blues guitar stays real tight.
-[Side note, mostly kidding: all vampire stories could do with a bit of queerness. As merely a fun exercise, if I was choosing to make one aspect of this movie queer in a way that naturally further services the themes… I’d make Pearline a man. Have Sammie be a “sinner” in another dramatic sense by making him queer. What if on the best day of his life in the juke joint, he connects with another man through music and then fucks a man? Much to think about. But there’s a lot going on in this movie already of course, in a specific historical context. And people would’ve gotten too distracted from the various core messages about race and culture (because no one can be normal about seeing queer stuff and understanding intersectionality). But hey, that would’ve hit! And would’ve fit. Just an interesting and extremely unnecessary what if in the privacy of my own mind.]
-STACK (& MARY). Still alive, but dead inside. How good is the life they lead? Stack, when trying to convince Smoke to join the vampire clan, referred to the assimilation they were experiencing as a form of freedom because of the (tangential-to-whiteness) power. But not only is that freedom untrue and filled with conditions, it also comes at a high cost. Eternally separated from their family, divorced from culture, their old selves and lives dead and gone, with no one but Sammie left to remember who they really were. Frozen, adrift, unable to move on or grow. But here’s the thing: was it their fault? Both Mary and Stack’s turnings were nonconsensual. Their disconnection from and erasure of their culture was nonconsensual, and they became Different before they realized what was happening. Remmick is killed and they’re free of his influence and control now, but where does that leave them anyway? They’re still ostracized and left out in the cold, and can’t be let back in unless someone lets them in, which no one is inclined to do – except for Sammie. In Stack and Mary, we see the cost of leaving your cultural roots behind, or (more accurately) having them taken from you violently, forcefully, or through the inescapable encroaching influences of colonialism and white supremacy. As foreshadowed by Sammie’s question to Mary in the juke joint: what are they now? They’re something Other, trying to make their space in the world, and dressed not dissimilarly to the genres of music seen when Sammie’s blues transcended time. So maybe they’re trying to make their own spaces work. But in particular… Stack can’t fit with the white humans, and he can also never go home. Yet he and Mary long for home and for culture, and make an attempt to reconnect with it – which, incredibly, Sammie allows. Sammie is now (visually) the elder who lets the wayward young people back in. He literally embraces Stack – and I think it’s key that he doesn’t embrace Mary. Stack and Mary may be together, but the ways in which they’ve been changed and the disconnect they’re experiencing is undeniably different, because Stack is Black and Mary is not. Its relevance can’t be ignored. This moment and this culture is not hers in the same way. Sammie takes a last parting shot at that point and hammers the themes home by changing the lyrics of his “Travelin’”: I don't know why in the hell I'm here, because the woman I'm lovin', you know she really don’t care. Fully justified? Slightly unfair to her trauma? Maybe mostly the former and a tiny bit of the latter, and heartbreakingly understandable regardless.

What was the inspiration behind pkmn-monochrome may I ask?
ough. what a good question. i feel like i've been asked this before, but i can finally dive deep into it now that The Reveal is out.
the inspiration for pokemon monochrome was… myself, really.
cody was even initially designed as a sona to represent myself - but eventually i wanted to give them a backstory that solidified them as their own character and give myself an excuse to draw them more, so i created pkmn-monochrome on a whim to make up the lore as i went along. but there were always two things about cody that i had solidified, even back in the beginning: cody was the hacker all along, and was secretly pretending not to be- and they were haunted by the ghosts of their three pokemon, each representing both the gen 1 games and cody's own feelings.
there are a lot of facets of cody's backstory that were directly inspired by my own feelings/experiences with pokemon. or rather- my slow, painful, and messy breakup with modern-era pokemon games.
pokemon is (and probably always will be) my special interest, but i gradually became really disenchanted with the games over time. i think the rot started with the 3DS games (XY played it too safe/basic and felt too small, ORAS was too easy and cut out emerald-exclusive content, SUMO was a good story but too hand-holdy, and then USUM was a cheap re-skin that took too long to get to the interesting parts & ruined the story that made SUMO good). USUM was the last pokemon game i ever bought, because i wasn't impressed with what i was seeing for the upcoming switch games at the time. let's go was a tie-in to a mobile game that i never liked in the first place, SWSH looked underbaked and was cutting out the national dex for the first time ever (and selling SOME of the missing pokemon back to you through expensive DLCs). they created pokemon home, which was the straw that broke the numel's back for me - i didn't want to pay for a subscription service just to keep all of my beloved childhood memories in one safe place. there was a time where all you needed to transfer pokemon was hardware, and that option was being ripped away from me.
it was around that time that i really struggled to cut modern pokemon out of my life. i know it sounds dramatic, but i really do think a part of myself died back then, and i felt a huge grief for losing it- for knowing that if i continued to love pokemon, i would get left behind by the folks who still buy these games that i felt were rushed, unsatisfying, and had predatory business practices. i no longer wanted to be one of those snobby pokemon fans that said "oh, well, even if you criticize it, you're still going to buy it anyway." i couldn't see things the way they did anymore, i couldn't just say, "this game has its problems but i like playing it anyway." i just felt empty.
so like cody, i attempted to make a kanto-centric rom hack, trying to sort out those feelings. the project fell through very early on because i don't actually know how to make a rom hack, but those old ideas were eventually recycled into what became modern day pkmn-monochrome.
but don't get it twisted - just because cody's backstory was directly inspired by my own experiences, that does not make cody a 1-to-1 reflection of me as a person. to me, cody is like a dark, twisted, bad timeline version of me where i never figured out how to healthily sort through my feelings, and instead let them consume me, choosing to take my pain and rage out on others. cody is a very unhealthy person whose actions should not be glorified or imitated. but that's what's so raw and real to me about cody as a character - those feelings could happen to anyone. what's important is what you do in reaction to those feelings. you can't control your emotions, but you can control is your actions. you can't blame your emotions as the reason you hurt people - just as cody can't blame pokemon for the reason they lashed out at red/leaf, their pokemon, and all of the players who unconditionally loved and trusted cody.
monochrome was made for me to sort out my own twisted feelings - sort of like how cody made their rom hack in the first place. but i think it's a lot more healthy for me than it was for cody. because unlike cody, i do still like pokemon - i'm okay with being stuck in the past, loving the older games and not the new ones. it doesn't make me any less of a pokemon fan, and i've found friends out there who feel the same way. i hope the story can help people in the same way it's helped me - identifying my own toxic behaviors and how to avoid them. i hope people can learn from cody's example of what kind of person they shouldn't be.
thanks for the question! i know it's a deeply personal answer, but monochrome is a very deeply personal story to me, haha.

Hello! How about some Minerva/Alex Kage lore? (I love their design, they look cool as fuck by the way)
like what are some things they like, (hobbies, interests) or what are their powers? How did they become a killer? Or more specifically why a klown themed killer? What are their relationships like with the others, like: Jeff, Wilson, Ragz, Domi, etc? (I don’t know if any of this was already answered or not, I couldn’t find anything in my deep dive, sorry if I’m making you repeat shit you already explained)
Nah, you're good I don't think I've ever really talked much about Minerva/Mono but I can for sure answer this stuff!
Minerva is a fun character because shes one I made when I was like 14-15 and was so badly written but also for the revamp of PM I wanted to kinda keep her story close to how it was back then so I will say a heads up her story is very much 15 year old me branded and I mostly just tried to fill in gaps to make it at the least make a bit more sense but it still is like kinda shit and I love that about her.
As far as interest and Hobbies go she's big into sports. Specifically Baseball is her favorite as well as boxing. She likes clowns that is part of why she is clown themed. She's also got interest in voodoo as she did grow up learning about it since her Ganmother Seraphine practiced it.
She's got a major sweet tooth as well and if she sees anything sweet she WILL eat it. Drinks WAAAAAAY too much root beer.
What are her relationships with the others?
Jeff - Initially she did hate Jeff quite a lot as he kinda did slit her throat when he first met her and then claimed it was because he panicked because SHE scared HIM. They do eventually end up developing a friendship.
Wilson - Wilson and Minerva get along well enough however should NEVER be left alone with each other as they WILL end up doing some shit that is just dumb as fuck and could potentially be destructive or dangerous for them and those around them. Her Jeff and Wilson all end up developing a pretty strong friend group and do just be beating the shit out of each other for fun.
Ragz - Ragz Is a bit complex because outside of clown training Minerva does actually like Ragz but can't stand their ass when it comes to learning clown shit.
Domi - fun fact! Domi and Minerva are siblings Domis mom and Minervas father end up dating at some point. Domi and Minerva already had a sorta sibling relationship before this so they're just happy for them. They also did form the 3 ring together.
Now the OTHER QUESTIONS I'ma just drop lore on the backstory under the cut because it's long and requires a lot of info on the backstory to understand.
So For the vast majority of her life up until meeting Slenderman, Minerva was under the impression she was a human named Alexandria Kage and was Raised by a woman who she THOUGHT was her biological grandmother named Seraphine. The reality of it was that she wasn't a human like at all and she wasn't even biologically related to her. She started going by Minerva after getting to the underworld and meeting her Father who told her that was the name he intended to give her before her "Mother" (Seraphine) left him and took Minnie with her. Her Father and Seraphine were a couple and at one point wanted to start a family however him being a Shade and her being human they couldn't biologically have a child together. However the decided to go the route of making a nightmare which is essentially a human spirit that's consumed by a Shade and reborn as a Nightmare (think of them kinda like sleep paralysis demons. They create nightmares and feed of fear and when someone experiences sleep paralysis these are the "demons" they might see). At first things were fine but once Minerva got older to where it was time that she started actually doing nightmare shit Seraphine didn't like the idea of her living by taking advantage of peoples fears and in some cases trauma. She saw it as just morally fucked up (which for a human 100% would be fucked up to take advantage of someone's fears insecurities and trauma) They basically got into a disagreement as it was essentially that Minerva start learning about her abilities and just what she is at a young age so when she's an adult she doesn't struggle with them. Seraphine who started to dabbled in magic not long after meeting him didn't think she ever needed to because they had a means to disguise her as a human and for her to live a normal human life. It kinda at that point ended up being a disagreement over how Minerva should be aware of what she is rather than keeping that a secret from her for the rest of her life. Seraphine decided to just up and leave with her and basically raised Minerva in the road so not to be found by Minnies father. Because of how nightmares age however by the time Minerva was in her mid 20s Seraphine was old as hell. And by that point they had settled in New Orleans. Fast forward to about a month before the start of PM and Seraphine passes away which Minerva takes hard as she was her only family. But with Seraphine gone there wasn't anyone to continue to do the spell that disguised Minerva as a human so her nightmare qualities started to slowly show as the spell was wearing off. It caused people to fear her simply because Nightmares just unsettle humans by being around them. It caused her to lose the relationships she had formed, her job, and eventually she was essentially completely alone. But once these things started to show it made it easier for her to track down and that's when Slenderman found her. He knew her father so a Proxy was sent to go and bring Minerva back. However they didn't really think through that Jeff is a human so it kinda went south quick resulting in Minervas "Death" as far as local authorities knew. She was pronounced dead. She stayed in the underworld because not only did she just find out her whole life was a lie she did need to learn to use her abilities and how to survive. Not only that she'd never be able to have a normal life among humans so best she could do is try and have one on the underworld. She works for Slenderman specifically so she can have a well paying job and get on her feet as she didn't want to just rely on her dad as she didn't have a relationship with him and it just felt strange to her to do it.

Spider-Band With a S/o Who Hyperfixates on Things Hard
Miles Morales, Hobie Brown, Gwen Stacy, and Pavitr Prabhakar (separate) x Gn!Reader
Warnings: None! (Except my attempt at British talking—)
Summary: Really what the title says—
A/n: This is actually an idea i had when i first fell into the spider verse fandom but didn’t have anyone to talk to about it. Glad ya’ll picked this one! Enjoy!! Also lmk if any of ya’ll wanna be on a tag list!! I know i don’t write all that much but still—
Tumblr media
Miles Morales 🌻🎧🌻
Bby is here for it
Always listening to what you have to say and never complaining
I have a feeling he’d be just as excited as you even if he’s got no clue what you’re talking about
He’d try to get into your interests with you no matter how outlandish they may seem
(I mean he’s basically a spider what’s so weird about fnaf lore—)
Definitely draws you things based off of the subject
“You said they were your favorite, right?”
Is always sending you memes and funny videos about your interest
Asks you for updates on your interest if it’s a series
Holds you when something bad happens and you’re sad
“Shh, shh…Hey, at least they existed, right?—Oh, no that made it worse—“
Going back to rambles, he’s always listening but maybe not always looking at you
But trust me
That boy could recite what you say perfectly
He just likes to listen while he works or draws
Has definitely made a mural of you and him in the world together (used it as a date spot. It’s true, he told me)
Overall
20/10 boyfriend
(I mean they all are but like—)
Tumblr media
Hobie Brown 🎸⚡️🎸
Will spend hours learning songs related to your interest
But then he’s like
“What? Oh, i been knowin’ this song, luv. What’re ya on about?”
Say for instance, you dive deep into an artist or band
Obviously, Hobie’s gonna ask you about them
But would never ask you for your favorite songs because he’s “Too busy writing his own”
So he just pays really close attention to the songs you talk the most about
(As i previously stated, he learns them all and plays it off)
When you figure it out he’s just like:
“Took ya long enough, luv”
He also listens to your rants about whatever it is (much like Miles and everyone else here but shhh)
But here’s why he stands out
This man can keep up
He can and will remember all about it, and basically know about much as you do
Steals things from stores that are from the series or whatever it is
“Hobie, how’d you get this?” “It was on display and i knew you’d love it.” “Wow! I thought you didn’t buy things from brands..” “…” “You stole it…”
You’re too busy loving whatever it is to stay mad
(But we all knew you weren’t mad)
If you think your interest is cringey then you’re WRONG
“But it’s for kids—“ “And? So what?” “Well…uhm….hm.” “Yeah. Thought so. Now keep goin’, I’m invested.”
(But also in general, bby. Love what you love and come to me if anyone says it “weird” or “cringey”. I’ll beat them up bestie<33)
All in all, a king<33
Tumblr media
Gwen Stacy 🩰🥁🩰
I’m gonna be honest
She is lost
Even if you go over things twenty times she still won’t get it
And that’s okay!
She takes notes and tries to keep up
Definitely proud of herself when she gets a detail right
“And then—“ “Wait, wait. Let me guess…He…he burned the pizzeria down, right” “Uhm—yeah, actually!” “*insert proud face*”
(Woah look at the trans flag colors^^^)
Definitely binge watches or reads your interest and learns as much as she can
She keeps a notebook full of her notes that she refers back to whenever you two are on call
She played it off as writing down some notes for school
But one day, she asked you to grab her suit from inside her drum set, and you found the notebook
It caught your eye because it had the name of your interest on it and you were like:
“Hey, Gwen? What’s this?” You showed her the notebook
I wish you could see my vision
When i tell you Gwen stood there for a good minute
I mean she stood there for several
Anywho
She just admitted to it and was all red and fidgety
Since this is her world, she was cast in mostly pink and red hues and the space around her fluttered yellow
You end up going through it with her, and talk about your favorite bits
Overall? She deserves several gold stars and cookies
Tumblr media
Pavitr Prabhakar 🍵☀️🍵
Bby is here for it
Whenever you get excited he’s excited
When you’re on the verge of tears he’s already crying
He is your favorite character’s number one supporter
He’s always going on and on with you about your interests
Because unlike the others, he manages to actually get into whatever it is you’re talking about and not just keep up
It’s honestly a skill of his
I feel like Pav also has special interests that he dives deep into
Like
Deep deep
Same as you so you two get along well :D
He’s always looking for the newest content and sending it to you always
“Hey! They said the next episode would be released next Tuesday!! :DDD” “There’s a new theory for the last volume!”
It’d be cute if that’s how you met and became friends
You spend sleepovers diving into your shared and separate interests with eachother
You know what’d be funny?
If he also info dumps onto the villains he fights
Like
Hear me out
Pav tying up a villain who tried to rob a place and just going
“Yeah, so me and my partner have a theory for why—“
And the villain is just like
Stfu??????
But they’d never say that because it’s Spider-Man
All in all, your number one hype man and best friend :]
———————————-
YA’LL I DID IT :DD

Hi! I love your comics! I was wondering, what is your favorite episode for each doctor?
Thank you! ❤️
This is such a fun question, I had to take my time with it! Thanks for asking!
First Doctor - The Romans saga.
It was fun to see everyone so chill and in one place for a while. It showed the Doctor did like to hang out for a while in some places/times. Before all this running around lol! This is also peak first Doctor behaviour. He is so fun in this one- he fights a guy off while giggling and is responsible for Nero setting Rome on fire and just laughs about it. Chaotic gremlin energy and I love it.
Second Doctor - War Games saga
The concept was really cool for this adventure. Plus it was the first time we really got the lore behind who the Doctor really is. We meet time lords etc. The finale is obviously super sad but iconic.
Third Doctor - The Daemons saga
This was really hard to choose because 3 is my fave classic doctor and there are so many cool adventures he went on. Being shrunk into the alien tv/zoo thing was such a neat idea but I had to go with this because it had so many crazy things going on. The Master (best version imo) pretends to be a priest. Crazy witchy woman who over acts and blinks too much. That white gargoyle… also the devil costume- peek costuming. And how could I forget that bizarre finale? It was giving wickerman for a second. Very funny… to me, probably wasn’t the initial intention.
Fourth Doctor - The Talons of Weng-Chiang
Possibly a controversial choice but I really loved the Phantom of the Opera vibes I got from this. Also Leela is my favourite companion and she was perfect in this saga.
Fifth Doctor - Black Orchid
Simply because it was fun and it was the last time this little family had any happiness or peace 🥲
Sixth Doctor - the Mysterious Planet
Because it introduced Sabalom Glitz who was a charming character that I’m glad they brought back later on. Also it kicks of the trial saga which was essentially the beginning of the end for Six, sad!
Seventh Doctor - Paradise Towers
Very cool concept. Invented slang we use today. Beware the grannies… I just loved everything about this story. Lots of good spooky fun.
Eight just has his movie but he was so good in Night of the Doctor.
Ninth Doctor (love of my life) - Fathers Day
Such an interesting deep dive into his and Rose’s relationship. I also love the concept of a companion learning what happens if you mess with time. Very langoleers. Huge character growth for Rose (and the Doctor too).
Tenth Doctor - Rise of the Cybermen
I love this little throwback to the second Doctor adventure where the Cybermen had a very similar takeover plan. Only in this one people got changed. The idea of the Cybermen terrify me greatly and having a character as vital as Jackie Tyler being turned was… UGH! I still get chills.
And that’s where I stopped watching honestly. Once Moffatt took over I tapped out of Doctor Who. I decided at that point I liked what I saw and I was happy to leave it there. I did watch the new Anniversary specials in which Wild Blue Yonder was my favourite. Nice spooky story. But otherwise I’m just content to be a freak for Nine and the classic series lol.
Thank you so much for asking this! It was fun to remember those old episodes. Makes me want to watch the classic series again! Haha

Owlcatober Day Seven: Lamplight
A bit of a late entry tonight. I love to use these prompts as an excuse to establish little lore tidbits. Who could have sent this late night visitor? What does our Knight Commander have to hide?
This one might have some errors, its very late, but I told myself I was going to do my best to do these every day, so here we are. I hope you enjoy the results of diving way too deep into Pathfinder's lore to creatre character backstory :)
A Knife In the Dark (1,052 words)
Fandom: Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous
Warnings: Violence
Read here under the cut, or on Ao3 :)
Camp was always quiet this time of night. Some crusaders still moved between tens, swapping stories, sharing unapproved bottles of booze, or gambling away the hours with decks and dice. Out on the perimeter, the sentries walked their rounds until their feet kicked up the grass and left a bare path in the earth somewhere between their fiftieth and hundredth pass.
Light spilled across the grass from the Knight Commander’s tent. It seemed like the lamps were always lit, no matter the time of night. The general staff and their aids came and went, dropping off reports, checking the large map of the World Wound that lay perpetually pinned to the grand table in the center of the space. Vysk rubbed her weary eyes, holding off sleep for just a little longer as she poured over the day’s reports. Supplies were down, tensions were high. The crusaders were apprehensive about the final run to Drezen, but for now, their faith in the Gods and their Commander held. There were no desertions to be reported tonight. Small blessings, she supposed.
“How did we end up here?” Vysk wondered aloud, shuffling the same stack of reports around the table. “From pirates to demons huh?”
In the corner of the tent, a mass of feathers and fur shifted in acknowledgement of her words. A single eye reflected the low lamplight as Jester fixed her with a concerned glance, cooing softly.
“I’ll sleep soon.” Vysk smiled, suppressing a yawn. “Just one more stack of scouting reports to get through and I swear…” her voice trailing as the yawn won her over.
Across the tent, Jester stood, ruffling his feathers out like a cat. He slowly unfurled his wings, nearly touching the sides of the tent as he stretched. Vysk grinned at her hippogriff, her oldest friend.
“Go back to sleep buds.” She whispered. “Just because I have to be subjected to a tide of paperwork doesn’t mean you need to suffer with me.”
Jester cooed softly, cocking his head as he took in the sounds of the night. Vysk watched him for a long moment, an amused smile on her lips. Exhaustion tugged at her eyelids. Perhaps that was the reason she nearly missed Jester’s alert.
The hippogriff stiffened, hooked talons gripping the earth beneath him as if ready to launch himself forward as his head snapped to the back of the tent. A long tear had appeared in the cloth, silently ripping its way down the wall just behind the Knight Commander. Following Jester’s gaze, Vysk threw herself forward, hands automatically reaching for the axes on her waist. She could feel the air on her back as a dagger flashed, mere inches from her flesh.
Stepping through the rip was a spindly figure. Their body was wrapped in tight leather armor, stained as dark as shadow with a single red sash braided into the gauntlets. Their head and face were concealed behind a black mask that covered all but their eyes, which gleamed with anger. Vysk didn’t stop to consider the implications of the assassin’s presence as she launched into action, unclipping and hurdling an ax at her attacker with one smooth movement. To her surprise, the assassin simply ducked under the projectile and launched themselves at her with reckless abandon. The blow might have landed, were it not for the fully grown hippogriff that shoulder checked the stranger mid air, sending them flying across the tent.
The ax reappeared on Vysk’s belt in the same moment that the assassin rolled, smoothly regaining their feet. For a moment, they both stood frozen, each sizing the other up, waiting for the next move in the dance. A blur of feathers shot past Vysk as Jester flashed past, beak open in a scream of rage. The assassin dipped under the hippogriff’s gnashing beak, slamming their dagger home into the creature’s shoulder. Jester took the blow without comment, instead using his momentum to carry him into his opponent, knocking them clear of their feet. As they fell, they tried to roll again, coming up right into the path of Vysk’s ax.
There was nowhere to go. With a sickening crunch, the ax buried itself into the assassin’s neck, dropping them on the spot. The entire encounter had lasted little more than six seconds from the first blow to the last. Even then, Vysk collapsed into a nearby chair, hand pressed against her chest as adrenaline surged through her body. Her backside had hardly hit the chair before she was buried in a mound of feathers and fur.
“I’m okay buds,” She rasped. “I’m okay. Let me see that shoulder alright?”
“Knight Commander!” The half armored form of Irabeth surged into her tent, sword drawn. “We heard a commotion. Is everything alright?”
Vysk waved her off. “There was an attack. I’m okay.” She said, forcing her voice to remain steady. “My attacker however.”
Irabeth’s eyes landed on the body, slowly seeping blood onto the ground. She nodded. “I am glad you are unharmed. Anviea is performing a sweep of the camp, I will remain here until we are certain there are no more.”
“Thank you.”
Irabeth nodded, stalking over to the body, sword still drawn. The frown on her face only grew deeper as she leaned over it.
“This is no cultist. I do not recognize these markings, unless it is a sect we have not seen before.”
“I doubt it.” Vysk replied, forcing herself to stand. She carefully picked her way over to the body, grimacing at the odd angle of the broken neck and scattered limbs. Irabeth pulled back the assassin’s mask, revealing the face of a young human woman with short cropped hair. Vysk leaned closer, slowly unthreading the red sash from one of the woman’s gauntlets. As she suspected, it held a small icon of a crown and anchor, etched in gold.
“It seems even here, at the end of the world, I cannot escape the Red Queen’s assassins.” She muttered. Irabeth gave her a concerned glance.
“Commander?”
Vysk waved her off. “I’m sorry, Captain. I have not been the most forthcoming with you, I hope that you can forgive me for that. Would you be so kind as to summon your darling wife and my advisors? It’s time I told you about my home.”

Prepare to dive into the depths of Megabird and Angst lore. Today, we'll talk about a group of gods known as Four of the Isle.
These fellas were living in my head rent-free for a very long time, and I made a lot of sketches with them. But I guess it's finally time to choose the least cringe drawings and explain why I love these ancient gods so much.
The Four of the Isle.
Tumblr media
The main idea behind them is that prophets from Isle of Dawn didn't just randomly choose animals for their masks. They outplayed some characters. A gods. Season of Passage proved that masks had a very important role in the ancient kingdom. And that these masks are... alive? There clearly was someone behind those masks. So why can't it be the same for Prophecy?
Four of the Isle were worshiped before the King, and even before the Elders. Megabird didn't create them. They appeared because people wanted them to be real. And so they possess(ed) their own kind of energy, which later took form of the gifts of water, earth, air and fire. Let's take a closer look at them.
Tumblr media
Aquatis, Terra, Zephyr, and Flamer were original gods of the Isle and used to take care of its inhabitants. But after Daleph's sudden appearance, they decided to retire and give up their powers to someone who would be able to finish a specific trial. We all know where it led. The Daleph himself, by the way, wasn't against Fours's presence.
Tumblr media
"But where is the ultimate mask?" You may ask. Don't worry, we are almost there.
Last but not least, fifth god of Four of the Isle (yes, I know how stupid this sounds) is Miru.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miru was believed to be a messenger god of the Four with a gift of future vision. While being the youngest in the pantheon, he was the first to gain a prophet so he could bring his prophecies to the people. Miru and Prophecy guide had a really deep connection with each other.
Tumblr media
Miru believed that the gift of knowing the future is far too dangerous to be given to people, so he didn't create a trial. He disappeared the same day the shattering diamond exploded.
Thank you for reading.

Decided to do a... Carousel ? I think it's the term ? Of all my toons, even the ones I was keeping in my shelf to present later... !
Tumblr media
Adiel !
Commander in one of the universe when Mikhail isn't. Adiel is serious and dedicated to following the Dream. However, behind her cold appearance, she is still compassionate and loving.
She is my main over my NA account and her outfit isn't her finished one, I "just" need to play on that account haaaaa My plan with her is that she'll end up in love with an Exalted, and would lose part of her body (too burned down) after Balthazard, which will end with her being part Exalted. I... Still need to deep dive into all the lore to come up with a good explanation but yeah.
She needs glasses
Tumblr media
Mykealleax !
That strange fella is an enigma for anyone meeting them. Where are they coming from ? Who are they ? What are they ? What are their purposes and goal ? Nobody knows.
I don't have a lot to say about them, I did them over my NA on a whim when I was still very much into Elden Ring and thinking about an dragon!oc... Also to have a mesmer over that account jkregn He got his final outfit though !
Tumblr media
Mikhail the Branded !
An AU of Mikhail where when he lost against Kralkatorrik, crushed by the guilt and grief to have lost Aurene and not be able to slay the Elder Dragon, instead of persevering right away, he went into the Mist to become stronger and find a world where he could save everyone. However, he became power-hungry, always seeking to become stronger until he forgot why he wanted to be stronger to begin with.
He is over my NA too and is named "Mikhail Lys B" until I got my hand on a character's name change thingy kgjnerg I'm also not satisfied with his current look, but I need to play for that─
Tumblr media
Mikhail !
My main, the dumbass Sylvari Commander himself... ! One if not THE one I draw differently to how he looks in-game (his horns are branches of his first haircut, he got leaves with the vines on his head and he's a bit thicker)
I play him more than anybody else and it show fkezg Maybe for that reason too I cannot decide on a definitive outfit and cannot do a "outfit timeline" because I cannot decide
Tumblr media
(Squeaky) Mikhail !
A light armor version of Mikhail that has the look of sapling Mikhail... An AU where Mikhail never becomes Commander, his body never changing because of the magic he absorbed, because he got burned by Balthazar. An innocent Mikhail who never fought the Elder Dragons, never experienced the lost and grief and everything. None of that.
He was made purely to have a toon with sapling Mikhail's look for possible screenshot purpose kjregn Also to have a mesmer on that account
Tumblr media
Mirael !
My very, huh, active girl. Look at her face. She is innocent. Always happy to help !
Tumblr media
Mannis !
My other, mh, very active one. He has two sisters (played by 2 friends) and is very playful and open what he likes and wants.
Tumblr media
Callan Amalrik !
Amal' is coming from the Mist, from a world where Trahearne and Mikhail were able to make a child ; Callan Amalrik... !
Amal' definitively took the courage of their parents and the combativity of Mikhail. Amal' can be gentle and playful, but be fierce in combat. One of their bestie is a Largos.
Amal' is the first character I ever created to be genderfluid, which is a challenge for me, not gonna lie. They use all pronouns, just depending of their mood (for that reason they have 2 outfit, one more feminine, and one more masculine (the one in the screenshot)). They/them is the basic one to use. They use "Callan" when they feel more feminine, "Amalrik" when more masculine, and "Amal' " when in-between/none (which I use by default).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jaal and Siham !
Twin coming from the union between Nikare, Kenut and Mikhail... !
Jaal is the twin who looks the most like a Largos ; strong, the fins well-developed and the hard look. However, he enjoys more his connection to his Sylvari genes, but he is afraid to break the expectations that Nikare and Kenut put on him...
Siham is energetic, kind and friendly, even though her health and body aren't the best. Her fins are broken, not strong enough to move correctly. She is often seen on her mount as her body got tired easily. However, she has that instinct to hunt and have trophies like Largos has, which Mikhail helped to redirect toward having strong pets and beasts. She is very good at it and enjoys her menageries... !
They are both extremely protective of each other and are absolutely ready to fight. They have strong fighters as parents after all.

i don't know if anyone asked this to you but if anyone did, feel free to ignore this ask. i love your fanfics of guardian x crow, and i was wondering how was it like when you played d1 (if you did) for the first time and going from uldren to crow in d2? did you like or hated uldren back then? when uldren was resurrected as crow, how did that make you feel? how did the final shape affected you during your years of playing d1 and d2? (i do remember seeing a post about you playing d1, but i could be wrong). how did the ending make you feel? there's a lot that i love about d2 but the fact that uldren was our enemy and became our best friend/lover (depends on the player's perspective) is the only form of enemies to friends/lovers that i actually would love to read more (i hate that trope... but...). i hope you enjoy a nice winter's break!
Omg anon thank you for asking me questions on all my favourite things to talk about lol!
1. Uldren
So I am a relative late-comer to the game, I joined during Shadowkeep (Season of Undying), so Forsaken has already left a massive imprint on the game and the community. However, I knew exactly nothing about the game and its lore but meeting Uldren though that DLC was one of the major factors to dragging me deep into the game.
I LOVED him. What scraps I could gather about his character were so incredibly compelling to me. I felt so sorry for him. It was a "he did all that but free him" situation.
Then I found out the general sentiment was very opposite lol. It bothered me a bit but eventually I succumbed to Uldren/Crow propaganda completely.
When I learnt about Crow, I was genuinely so excited. I love redemption arcs, this one was built up so well. I wanted to meet this Crow, to show him this new world, to help him find his footing in it. It worked out incredibly. I think Uldren was going towards this destiny (hehe) for a very long time. Much like his sister, I think his future was written in the stars, even though we say that paracausality means we choose our own fate. Something to think on later.
2. D1.
I only finally got to play D1 a couple of years ago and I'm actually still working my way towards the Rise of Iron dlc (running strikes in a very empty game is Hard). It felt amazing to finally dive into the older Awoken lore and the lore of the Black Garden and actually meeting Uldren after seeing the videos of that meeting countless times. It does make me wonder if I'd have liked him as much if I met him in D1 first and then went to D2. TBH I think I would have.
I do love the rival/enemies to friends (to lovers) pipeline Bungie's got going there, I think it really worked out. It took so many years and it was paced so well, I enjoyed reaching the conclusion!
3. The Final Shape.
Probably the best part of this year ngl. Having played Destiny non-stop for around 5 years now endeared me to this game. I wanted to see the conclusion, and I was so worried they'd flop it. They did not, oh my god they did not. I cannot express how much of a VICTORY this was, how good that expansion felt. I'm so glad Bungie devs put their entire self into it (though sad, seeing how it was paid off to them.......), because this saga needed a strong satisfying resolution. I sobbed when it was over and it felt so cathartic. I went through awful times while playing Destiny, this game was and is my massive crutch. Seeing my Guardian go through hell and rising from the ashes was so good. Ough.
Also thank you anon!! I appreciate the kind words and the questions :D I love talking about this, Destiny means a whole world to me, I'm grateful every day that it became a part of my life. I met such amazing people through it, my creativity has risen to much, my skills in writing too. I hope you also enjoy a lovely winter time (or summer, if you are on the other side of the globe :D)
Ask me literally anything

Building off of one of your tags, what is your favourite werewolf lore that you've incorporated, the one you love but couldn't use? And finally, the million dollar question: why didn't Millenium make more werewolves?
Do you suppose the curse wasn't contagious in the Hellsing Universe? The slim chance they couldn't get Hans to turn anyone into a werewolf? Or maybe Doc couldn't replicate it, despite being able to replicate vampirism?
Thank you for the ask! I've been meaning to write something for the werewolf lore in my AU but haven't had the motivation before now. Get ready, because we are about to deep dive into something I put entirely too much thought and effort into.
My favorite lore that I incorporated was actually the base for my story. As a paranormal romance reader, I enjoy the Fated Mates/ Mate Mark werewolf trope. There is something poetic and beautiful about being magically bound to the person you love for eternity. Unfortunately, I am also a horror media enthusiast :) I wondered how that would work if the werewolf you were bound to was actually the horror movie version. Bad boys in those types of stories always end up with a heart of gold, but what if they were not a good person? What if the monster was actually a monster?
An American Werewolf in London, Wolfenstein and Hellsing gave me my answer. Enter: Hans. Because there is no worse monster that I can think of than a n*zi werewolf.
One detail about werewolves that I absolutely love but wasn't able to use, is the brutal transformation sequence. I love skin ripping, bones snapping, graphic and gory transformations. I love the imagery of the beastly feral side literally ripping through the human visage. I couldn't use a damn bit of it though because HIRANO already set the canon for werewolves in the Hellsing universe 😒 but anyway. Mist shifting is nice too. I guess.
Ok! Now on to the big question. I would like to state that I am in no way bashing anyone who uses curse werewolves for their Hellsing AU. All werewolves are valid.
For me personally, I could not figure out why the third reich would go through all the trouble of making an army of artificial vampires when they had a perfectly good werewolf already under their control. If it was a curse or virus or something contagious, why only use one? It made no sense to me. Feral werewolves could have been dropped on the battlefield like ghouls. Virginal requirements (like vampires need) wouldn't have been an issue since they literally raised children to be soldiers. So, with those questions in mind, I decided to make my werewolves a different species. In my AU werewolves can only be born. They are not created and have never been human. That's why they are almost extinct and that's why my version of Hans behaves the way he does.
Now for some Midian history.
My werewolves are descended from an ancient species of shapeshifter that took the form of two apex predators during its time: dire wolves and early humans. This species went extinct of course, but their descendants spread out and became regional subspecies.
Hans is the last Werewulf. His species comes from the Black Forest of Germany and is where the legends originated. Werewulfs developed away from humanity, so they didn't need to appear that human up close. It's why Hans has such an inhuman mouth and lacks the ability to speak. He looks human enough from far away, but up close it is obvious that he is not. I have a long, extensive backstory on what happened to his pack and why he joined the war, but I think I'll save that for another time.
I will note that werewulfs cannot breed with humans. They are too far apart genetically.
Sabine is a Loup Garou and her genetics are a little more confusing. Loups developed closer to humanity and are more human passing than their German counterparts. Sabine's grandmother was a werewolf. Her grandfather was technically human, but carried a recessive werewolf gene that he passed on to her mother. Sabine's father was human, but Sabine ended up a very unlikely recessive werewolf. Her werewolf nature remained dormant until the ritual that bound her to Hans awakened that part of her. Sabine, like her grandmother, could only have reproduced with another werewolf or someone who carried the recessive gene.
So to sum it up, I do think the n*zis tried to make more werewolves. Once they found out it wasn't contagious, they formed the first breeding program. When that ended badly, they gave up on werewolves and focused their energy on something that they knew WAS transferable to human soldiers. Vampirism and the production of ghouls. The end.

i wanna know more about how abilities kinda work is there a specific time they come in? Like an age? And are there different categories?
I’m so glad you asked this!!
basically, people get their powers and abilities from magic, and magic came from their two ‘gods’ (bit of a lore/religion deep dive)
Magic does exist but it’s scarce around common people, the colour of magic is like red glitter. It runs in people blood, in nature, in food, and other products!!
The two gods are a demon and angel, married to eachother and made earth as a gift with humans as little pets on it.
The earth was made as a gift by a powerful demon, given to his wife, whose hands cradle the world in her hands as she cherishes it.
I imagine all over the world the countries and continents are vaguely shaped and cut up to look like her hands, palms and fingers.
Red magic is the angels blood, she took out her own heart and gave it to her demon husband as a gift. The blood seeped all over earth and is now imbedded into everything. Even DNA.
I might also make the ocean the angels tears of happiness? And space can be like, her?, as in the Milky Way and and stars are the angel and we see her that way cuz that’s the only way humans can comprehend her presence/appearance
and the void blackness of space is the demon, who fills the space between all the stars and is a dark being.
Daemons are people who are seen as people with the most Demon dna in them thanks to the large amounts of magic in them, seeing them as mini gods basically.
demon blood is INCREDIBLY rare, and very powerful. Having even a drop of demon DNA in you makes your appearance and powers stronger and more monstrous, it can be a spontaneous thing and nit genetic at all. A baby can randomly be born an all powerful Daemon just because, two Daemons could have a child but it could just be a normal common human. There’s no consistency
anyway, back to the gods and their lore.
Over the years the story of the two gods where twisted by the people, the most common story is the demon tried to steal the earth from the angel and ripped her heart out when she refused. The ocean was then filled with her tears of sadness while he drooled like a mad man as he ate her heart. Which is not true.
People who believe the true story, are seen as naive pansies who see the world through red tinted glasses
Angel is loved. Demon is hated. Essentially..
there is a third species as well! They’re kinda like animal people who are more separated from humans or Daemons and are at the lower end of the foodchain..
Daemon
Human
Hybrid.
that’s the hierarchy basically. Though on the rare occasion a hybrid could be a Daemon too.
Hybrids are faced with hate and injustices due to them being born by the demons drool.
while hybrids are faced with ridicule Daemons aren’t despite them both having part demon in their genes, this is because hybrids are weak and Daemins are literally overlords. And much like hating a president, that doesn’t deter them at all.
overlords go by the title ‘daemons’ to instill fear into people. As a statement. And to their horrifying strength.
Koda is the strongest daemon, because he is half demon, which is the most demonic DNA ever recorded in a human. Which is powerful enough to make him stronger the the rest.
everyone gets their powers at a young age, usually when they’re in their early teens or smth. But ofc that’s not always the case, some people don’t get their powers until they’re halfway through life, and others get them at infancy. Though it’s rare.
what’s even rarer is having no powers at all, this means no angel blood = no magic. Which can be dangerous. It’s like having a deficiency basically but more severe.
One has this disability’, has no magic whatsoever, or the slightest angel blood, very weak because of this and takes pills, doses, and cigars to get as much magic as he can.
Magic keeps him calm and functional. They put One on a LOT of magic supplements after his big episode as a kid. Hasn’t had a freak out since, the fear of hurting those around him makes him keep taking the magic.
Eats a lot of food since food naturally has magic in it, without his supplements something bad will happen to him.
The Mutts were brought to life by boss using magic extracted from the mines deep DEEP down. The deeper people dig for magic the more accent it is, while most magic people get from farms are what go into every day products and produce.
Too much of this raw magic is very dangerous, and only a drop each are given to the mutts to bring them over each time they die.

Oh wow carte blanche on dab questions!
For the scene where Tyler calls Josh asking if he wants to be in the band, please tell me you based it on the 2012 Columbus Monthly interview and it was not a complete coincidence because I would die if it is!
I did not find that interview until after I read dab and was like.. no fucking way!!
Are there any other things lifted from interviews or stories? (Other than the RAB series, love how you intertwine that so well).
I fucking love and laugh everytime at the "what do I feed Tyler Joseph do not read into it" lol
Love the way you handle Nick and Chris leaving feels very realistic and particularly Tyler's reaction and what we know about his fear of people leaving him (Navigating looking at you, even 10 years later).
And finallyyy, I am a bottom Tyler truther but I am always interested on other people's reasons why, particularly since you make Mark even so aware of it enough to ask Josh if he is a top lol
ack holy moly i love these questions! i will do my best to answer!
of course, of COURSE it was not a coincidence... hehehe I knew what I was doing! I love love love taking dialogue from actual things they've said and weaving it into fics as realistically as possible. I've seen other people on twitter discover that interview and been like "WAIT LIKE IN DREAMERS AT BEST" and honestly... MIND BLOWING that people find out canon things from my fic before they realize they're like. real. humbling as fuck and also makes my research feel worth it!!! i started writing dab not too long after i went through my clikkie rite of passage in which i deep dived and watched every single pilots interview of all time (which i assume all fans go through, or at least all neurodivergent fans LOL). so a lot of these things were fresh in my mind.
i'm trying to think of other major things off the top of my head that came from real interviews or stories that we know are true. we know they met at the newport (sadly the exit sign detail came later!), we know the timeline and details of how mark stumbled into tyler's life, ditto the timeline of josh filling in for colin in hoh - i REALLY tried to get the timeline leading up to josh joining the band right. we only learned later that he had been about to move to nashville when tyler asked him to be in the band. sitting on the rooftop of the grocery store is something they've talked about from their early friendship... obviously so much else was filled in around what we know, but the goal was to make everything believable with the details we had, and it seems like that's part of what really resonated with people about the fic!
i went through a phase where i could not stand rereading the first 4 chapters of dab. so hearing that you love that random text josh sends in chapter 3 is actually so validating. i feel like i grew as a writer SO much over the course of writing the fic, and sometimes it's weird to read the early chapters in contrast with the later chapters where... idk, the language is more sophisticated? but i try to remind myself that they were growing up over the course of the fic too. and, people love and cherish those chapters for what they are. and i finally do too.
ohhh i'm glad you mentioned the whole "kinda feels like everybody leaves" stuff in regard to nick and chris, because that is absolutely where my mind goes. part of the story that dab tells is that josh isn't just a great drummer and friend with sex appeal who would help the band get famous - josh did not want to do anything else with his life except play music with tyler. he would do anything for tyler. he would break his back hauling that fucking piano case for as long as it took. he was never leaving. and somehow we are still living that narrative in the lore in 2024. tyler. that boy is not going to leave you.
hello, bottom tyler truther... we are the same. i love the idea of either of them bottoming and truly either works, but... josh is generous. josh wants to give. he wants to take care of people, and he shows his love through quiet protectiveness. tyler has a personality where he clings to control - we know this. so a true mark of trust for him, his truest form of intimacy, is ceding control to someone else. it really doesn't matter whose dick goes where... tyler just needs to be cared for. and everyone, including mark, can see how well josh takes care of him.
OH!!!!! this got extremely long. i guess i also just want to always say that even 8 years after starting it i am IN AWE of how many people still care about that fic. it is humbling for real. thank you thank you for caring enough about it to ask these questions :')

hello! i was watching ian and mickey scenes through *the* youtube channel, i'm not too deep into the lore of the fandom but! i read that noel wanted to be paid more for his role which is why they wrote him off on s6 etc. reading some comments through clips from the other seasons he is not in i saw that the ''reasons'' as of why ian seems not to care of him was because of his medication and pretending to keep himself steady but with s7 it went down after seeing him again + monica's death (and that's also why he's maniac again :0) thankfully right after they're back together which makes my serotonin skyrocket! i mostly read fics that are a sort of fix it or with mickey coming back right after monica dying etc. i didn't know about these infos before so i thought it was kind of fanon that ian goes maniac because of that and that he never said ''i love you'' to anyone but mickey. i wanted to ask you what is your take on ian's feelings when mickey wasn't around? gotta say that it makes me feel way better knowing that despite their effort to remove mickey from the series they managed to make it was all about him/leading back to them together! i hope i didn't disturb you with this ask but im having feelings!!! eheh
hi there! totally valid to have ✨feelings✨ about this, especially when you first start diving into their history and relationship!! my own deep-dive under the cut:
I do believe Noel left bc of contract renegotiations, yes. and after that fans were not happy with (and were very vocal about) the show trying to 'replace' Mickey with other boyfriends for Ian and having Ian badmouth Mickey etc. anyway, if we're keeping this to in-universe explanations as to how Ian felt about Mickey during those seasons, my interpretation is this: at the start of s6, Ian was in a very, very bad place. we see that at some point he started taking his meds (despite his previous refusal to do so like during the breakup in 5x12) but he's very clearly going through depression at that stage. let's keep in mind that at the time he was dealing with accepting his diagnosis, something he struggled a lot with both bc of the comparisons with Monica and bc of how much he valued his independence, so acknowledging the need for outside help and someone to care for him when he's not feeling well is particularly hard for him. he also just came out of a long period of being unmedicated--I've seen people suggest symptoms first started manifesting at the end of s3, and might've influenced his decision to go off to the army with everything that that brought as a consequence and all the choices he made as a result of that.. his life had changed dramatically in that period (he dropped out of school, left his home and his siblings, worked in nightclubs as a minor and of course he went through all that traumatic stuff with Mickey from 3x06 onward) so at the beginning of s6 he makes the decision to basically just put all of that behind him. Ian has a tendency to compartmentalize, which means he took all the bad things that had happened to him up until his diagnosis (and everything that reminded him of that, ie Mickey) and tried to forget about them, so that he could move on in some way. of course at this point Mickey was in prison and expected to remain there for the next 8 to 15 years, so that was another thing Ian made the decision to put out of his mind, bc it all hurt too much to deal with. so he made a new life for himself. which I'm very proud of him for! I love his journey to become an emt <3 dating-wise, choices were made. not necessarily by Ian though, by which I mean he kinda fell into those relationships, going through the motions because of how uncertain he was feeling at that time, and ending up dating people that should've maybe definitely had been fuck buddies at most. anyway, let's not dwell on that ajkds and let's get back to Mickey. the whole 'out of sight out of mind' thing obviously crashes and burns for Ian once Mickey shows up again, right there in front of him. that rush of deep-buried feelings must have been overwhelming. and yeah, I do agree that Ian's manic state through s8 was probably a result of the double hit of Monica's death and losing Mickey again--for all Ian knew, for good this time. and he absolutely never said I love you to anyone but Mickey, bc he's never loved anyone but him. they were it for each other from the start!! thank god the show finally got with the program at some point lol and gave us the happy ending they truly deserved ❤️

It disappeared before I could reply, but I would love to see more art for Story of Evil. I found you and loved your artwork and style, so when I learned you did Vocaloid aus, I knew instantly I would love anything you produced. So in general I wouldn’t mind seeing any Vocaloid story for FE, but Evillious Chronicles has a hold on my brain so anything pertaining to that would be lovely!
My bad I have a bad habit of deleting txt posts after a bit every now and then
OOo thank you! Hearing that means so much to me!
I used to do alot of Vocaloid type of AU art, when I was younger and it was always so much fun.... and then I stopped for some reason and after a lot of unfortunate life events happened a couple of years I was like "Oh why don't I go back to doing this? I had so much fun, but do it with FE" and its been a bad case of the brain worms ever since.
The Evilious Chronicles have always been my favorite song series... at first I told myself I was just going to go based on the songs and not all of the outside lore (it was tempting! but with this being a side passion project I really didn't and still dont have the time to go and hope I could find good translations read all of the light novels and do a deep dive) But its fine because my idea was "what if pocessed by evil dragon" rather than being the vessel of a sin.
I ended up choosing mostly Nohr siblings (because bias) minus Elise because she is too pure... and I think it ended up being pretty solid. Daughter/Servant of Evil - Corrin Twins (obviously... it really started because I craved a love triangle between Corrin Laslow and Azura.... and it fuels me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually have plans to add illustrations for the Daughter of White. It took me a while to figure out who to put in Haku's role.... and I finally decided on Felicia. It felt the most right.)
Tumblr media
Evil Food Eater - Camilla It seemed fun.... and cannibal camilla doesn't feel wrong I ended up giving the Kaito role to Kaze (for morbid shippy purposes)
Tumblr media
Gift From the Princess who Brought Sleep - Azura I had a hard time picking for this one, I sat on it because at this point I had already decided I wanted to stick to mostly the Fates cast if I could (minus one). And Elise.... really-really didnt fit any of them the more I played around with it in my sketchbook the more I liked it for Azura! (Also yes I through Laslow in there too because he is my fav and I love him and I stuffed in everywhere I could)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Still working on how I want her dress to look but I like sketching when I have the ideas to come back to later. Corruption of Judgement - Leo
There was just no thought, I knew it had to be Leo. Also yes it means I will be drawing Forrest as "Master of the Court"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Duke of Venomania's Madness - Xander I.. was not sure about this one! But at this point I was pretty much sticking to Royals and those with ties to Nohr. Once again I plan to draw Laslow in Kaito's role because I am predictable and simplistic like that.
Tailor of Enbizaka - F!Robin/Grima The only NONE Fates related one. I could have stuck with it and picked a Hoshidan Princess... but idk I like the idea of Robin slowly descending into madness and murdering chroms family one by one and then him.
Tumblr media
Muzzle of Nemesis - ???? I dont remember if I've mentioned this one because I think I might have but I'm gonna try to keep it on the downlow to keep with the whole "Master of the Hellish Yard" Vibes.
Adkadoiaj sorry for the word vomit is that, this is the craziest most involved fan-project I've ever done. And its insane how much thought I ended up putting into it, when at first it just was gonna be all "Ahahha I wanna draw Art-"covers" to my favorite vocaloid songs" Now each one is gonna have a handful of pieces to them.

Empires Magical Girl Au: The side characters or as I like to call them; Cleo, Stress & The Boys
I should say that this story is focused on the girls so I'm going to be keeping the boys pretty minimal in this story. Or at least I they aren't becoming magical girls. I know sad but I want to focus on the lady's they deserve to have a super hero story focused on them.
Cleo: I'm thinking she knows of the girls secret, or at least some of them, and hates it. She is quite protective of her friends. So when one of her best friends are roped into the quiet dangerous occupation of heroism, let's just say she isn't the happiest. Especially when more started joining.
Stress: She might be around the girls just as much as Cleo, but in her case she is completely clueless to there after school activities. Though she is very supportive and even though she doesn't know what's happening she trusts her friends.
The Boys -
Scott: Our resident "friend" of everyone. He's kind to everyone but only the people he truly cares about he considers a true friend. I also took slight inspiration from reality and made him a big fan of the girls, to emulate his love of DND. In fact I would consider him their #1 fan.
Oli: Our resident bard is quite eccentric and our show runner of our b plot! The director of the school play, a job no one knows how he got, drags his assistant director around as much as he can. Who might his assistant director be, well Shelby of course... Yeah Shelby doesn't know why either. Though Oli says he couldn't think of anyone else to be his assistant director.
Jimmy: Lizzy's little half brother! Im thinking he is quite a worry wart over his sister. Especially when he's the one covering for the girls during school hours as the schools hall monitor. Due to their relationship though he doesn't feel it's his place to ask her about it, but that doesn't mean he's not going to try to not find out what's going on.
Fwhip: Gems twin brother, and Sausage's best friend. He too is another worry wart. He's the resident fixer, doesn't matter what it is if its broken he could fix it. So it's a little worrying that he's had to fix up one or two of the girls a few times. It's expressly worrying when it seems they like to go to him first before an adult or the hospital.
Sausage: Pearl's cousin and Fwhip's best friend. Sausage is another resident worry wart though he is more outwardly spoken about his concern. Though he is quick to put a smile on and pretend everythings okay whenever they ask him to stop pressing the matter. So he throws his stressed energy into one other responsibilities. Wether it's taking care of bubbles or one of his many art projects.
Joel: The trusting worried wart. He's Lizzy's best friend, though we know that will change in the future. Joel just wants what's best for her and if she wants to keep secrets he's not going to press her about it. So he focuses on his art projects as well and waits to be a shoulder of support when she needs.
Joey: Look I love Joey and all but I can't see him ever falling for a chick, so I'm deciding right here right now that Katherine was his girlfriend before he knew he was gay. So now their just best friends and happy to help each other out when the other one asks. He is not a worry wart like most of the other boys because he knows Katherine and knows she can take care of herself. So he keeps going as if nothing's wrong.
Pix: The resident lore man! Pix is an aspirin journalist so when a group of super heroes just appeared one day he's not going to let this opportunity go to waist. He starts a blog about them and it quickly becomes most peoples main source of information on the girls and the villains. He is also the one who named each of the girls... That sounds weird, he's the one who gave them their super heroe names.
And that's Zombie, Stress and The Boys! I have a few more things about them but they would be more for a deep dive like post. Anyway next is the villains! Or possibly where the girls get their powers from... Hmm well see.
