In His Orbit
https://archiveofourown.org/works/61353592 by NeverBuckDown For the next few years, Peter became his dad’s shadow. They spent everyday together, tinkering in the lab, laughing through disastrous attempts at cooking that left the kitchen in chaos, or curling up for movie nights that inevitably ended with Peter falling asleep halfway through. It only got better when his dad helped form the Avengers. They had all moved into Avengers Tower in New York, and while it was quite different from his life in Malibu, Peter didn’t mind. He loved it. He’d have breakfast early with Nat, Bucky and Steve. He’d get spy lessons from Clint (which mostly involved crawling around in the vent and shooting people with nerf guns). And he’d even sometimes get science lessons from Dr Bruce Banner himself. Life was great. Perfect even. Until Harley showed up. - Spiderman is being hunted by the Avengers for crimes he didn’t commit. Peter Parker just wants to feel loved. Will he turn to them in his time of need, or spin a web of lies so deep it may tear him apart? Miss Velvet
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: Y/N aka Miss Velvet, is a disabled equestrian and therapeutic riding instructor who helped Tony Stark with his PTSD after returning from Titan. When the Avengers bought everyone back he hired her to work with the Avengers and SHIELD hired her to work with their agents as therapist and teaching basic riding skills because you never know when a horse will be the best mode of transportation.
Bucky Barnes is a manwhore who is enjoying his freedom for the first time in decades and pays no mind to y/n when she meets the team because he knows how to ride and is always on the prowl for his next conquest.
Post Endgame but everybody survived, because I said so. Written before TFATWS or any of the multiverse saga. Steve helped get Sharon Carter pardoned so they are together.
Chapter 8
Warnings: swearing, marijuana use, angst
Velvet took her new assistant, Bobby, for a tour around her stable and Morgans place, showing him everything he needed to know to help her care for the horses and riders.
She also had MJ coming in on weekends to help with event coordination for Morgan's place. Tony hoped to host some small shows to give Morgan practice and prepare her for larger events.
Everything was, fine, Velvet kept telling herself. It had been 3 weeks since Bucky left and she had received one text from him letting her know he would be gone for awhile but that's all. Most of the team was on the same mission except for Nat who was dealing with an injury and Peter still had school. He did come up on the weekends with MJ and helped Velvet with chores and lessons.
Velvet tried not to think about Bucky and what he said before he left but failed miserably. His stormy blue eyes haunted her dreams and the memory of that kiss months ago kept replaying in her head.
After the 3rd week Velvet received a strange package, in it were some pics from her rough times after her accident. She was in the middle of some crazy, drugged sex act with more than one other person, a few guys and a girl all In various stages of undress. Lines with a pile of white powder, a bong with a pile of weed next to it, a variety of pills and tequila shots on the table and everyone was licking, sucking, fingering and/or fucking.
She closed her eyes, wondering where this came from as there was no return address and the postmark was Manhattan. She didn't see her ex Roger in the pic so figured he must have taken it. It was a graphic reminder of the lowest time of her life.
Velvet wondered why would anyone do this now, what was the point? All the important people at the top already knew the basics of her past but this was much more detailed and graphic than what she told them.
She didn't think Tony or Fury would care, Steve might but hopefully he would understand. General Ross was another story, he never came across as a particularly understanding person.
Of course if these were leaked to the public it might become difficult for them to defend keeping her on, considering the classified nature of most of their work and the inherent risk of an addict spilling something they shouldn't.
It could even affect Serenity as many parents wouldn't want their kids around a drug addicted whore.
Bucky didn't know, they had talked about a lot and he knew she had an addiction problem in the past and had done some awful things to feed that addiction but she didn't get into the gory details, hoping to keep it in the past.
He was willing to accept what he knew about her but what if this was too much?
That thought made her realize that she wanted him, wanted to give him, give them a chance. But what if this ruined it?
The stress and anxiety was spiking her pain and making her stomach sick, she worked so hard to move on from those mistakes but apparently someone didn't want that. It had to be Roger but did that mean he was in NYC?
Velvet sat In her office and sighed, dialing Nick Fury's line to see if he was available today. Unfortunately he was also out of town and Maria had meetings all day so she made an appt for tomorrow, hid the package away and tried to find something, anything else to think of.
In Argentina the team was looking into some suspected Hydra/Nazi collaborators but having a hard time gathering intel on their movements or plans.
Bucky was antsy, wishing he could at least text or call Velvet but Steve wouldn't hear of it. Too much risk of being traced.
Bucky could barely sleep and when he did he never knew if he would have a good and sexy dream about Velvet or one where the Winter Soldier hurts her or Bucky can't stop one of his enemies from hurting her.
Either way he woke up drenched and unable to focus for a while.
"Wanna talk about it, Buck?" Steve finally asked.
"Dunno what to say, nothing I can do but wait it out till we can go home and hope she hasn't given up because of our stressful lifestyle. Talking won't change anything." Bucky responded sadly.
"Maybe a little time away is good for both of you. You were together every day for over a month and that can get intense so some time to think about what you feel and want might bring clarity to you both." Steve advised.
"Steve, I haven't felt this clear about anything since I fell from the train. Never been hit so hard by a woman" Bucky insisted.
Steve laughed, "I told you she was something. Sounds like you got bit good."
Bucky smiled for the first time in days "That's for sure"
Steve grinned for a moment then continued in a sober tone "There's something about her you should know, Buck. Her accident. It was that day in DC when you and I fought. She was in a tour van on that bridge. I don't think you were directly responsible but there was a big mess on the road that day and she was part of it."
Bucky choked "Wait, what? Does she know it's my fault? She can't or she wouldn't even talk to me. I ruined her life. God dammit!! How the Hell do I face her now?"
"Nat is supposed to tell her but I don't know if she did or how it went. We'll have to wait till we get home to find out." Steve sighed.
The next morning, Velvet headed over to the compound to talk to Maria about the pics.
When she arrived at her office, Maria waved her in.
"What's going on Y/N, the look on your face says it's pretty serious."
Velvet nodded "Is it alright if I close the door, this is very personal."
"Of course, close the door and have a seat." Once Velvet was settled Maria asked softly
"What happened? You look pretty spooked."
Velvet took a deep breath to calm herself "Well, you know how I told you about after my accident, how I got addicted to pain meds and did some awful things to get them? Well, someone sent me pics of one of those horrible things. No return address and postmarked in Manhattan."
She wrung her hands as her throat closed "My ex, Roger, is still in California as far as I know. I spoke to his mom after the snap and he was dusted. I didn't even think about him coming back. Or that he could find me."
Velvet sobbed "I thought I had put all that behind me. He always promised he would get me back if I left but I thought I was safe here. This could ruin everything"
Maria walked around her desk to hug Velvet and rub her back "Hey, it's ok, we'll find out who's doing this and bury the whole thing. I'm going to need the envelope and the pictures so we can get started"
Velvet looked at her, wide eyed "We? Please promise that you will lead on this, I don't need everyone here to see them."
Maria took the pictures and promised she would only have Natasha look into it.
Bucky and Velvet were both stressing out to the point of illness over the recent developments.
Bucky was drowning in guilt for breaking her and afraid she wouldn't want anything to do with him. Velvet was scared Bucky would find out about the pictures and not want anything to do with her anymore.
A few days later Nat came to the stable, hoping to take Velvet on a ride and break the news about her accident. Once they had Lexi and Romeo ready to go they walked out the gate and into the woods that Velvet had been exploring for this very purpose.
"So, what's up Velvet? I can tell you have something on your mind." Nat grinned.
Velvet sighed "Just a part of my past that I would like to forget rearing its ugly head. Someone sent me some explicit pics of me in compromising positions during my fall after the accident. Maria is looking into it but I'm scared that my ex will come back and fuck up everything I've worked for here."
Nat looked her in the eye "I won't let that happen, we need you here. This is your home and I'll fuck up anyone who wants to hurt you."
Velvet changed the subject "What's on your mind, Nat? You usually have shit to work thru when you schedule a ride. So what's up?"
Nat looked away "It's actually about you, about your accident. Barnes was there in Winter Soldier mode, fighting Steve, Sam and me. He was the reason for the pile up that you were part of, that changed your life."
Velvet looked at Nat and snorted
"I know."
Nat paled. Words escaped her.
Velvet scoffed "You think I didn't know that? I did have access to the internet even if my memory is fucked up. I knew before I met Tony. You think I never googled that accident? It wasn't Bucky, not really. And I think he's been pretty effectively rehabilitated. It really sucked and I was a mess for a while but I'm a better person now and have a more fulfilling life than I did clawing my way to the Olympics."
She paused before going on
"On another subject, have you heard from Steve or anyone? It's been ages and all I've heard is one text from Bucky the day they left.'
Nat grinned "Is something up between the two of you."
Velvet stammered "Well, I uh, I don't know. The day before they left he told me he was falling in love with me and I told him why it was a bad idea and he almost convinced me. I told him about some of my experiences and why I'm hesitant. Asked him to give me the night to sleep on it. Then he left."
Nats grin grew "I knew there was something there. Last I heard a couple of days ago, everyone was fine but restless. Hoping to finish up in time for Tony's 4th of July birthday party for Steve."
"July? That's almost another month. Maybe this is the universe showing me why dating Bucky is a bad idea. This wait is torture." Velvet whined.
"It sucks to be sure but the right person is worth all that so don't throw the idea away over that." Nat counseled.
Velvet noticed the sun was starting to go down and figured they better get back and take care of the horses. Nat helped with chores and they decided to order pizza, drink some wine, nosh on some edibles and watch one of Velvet's favorite movies, Paul.
Nat didn't get all the jokes but she caught enough to still enjoy the movie.
The edibles helped. Velvet rarely got stoned on her meds but once in a while she needed to let everything go and this was one of those times.
Between the pics and missing Bucky she was a mess.
On June 28th, Velvet and Nat were shopping for dresses for the 4th party. Trying to keep with the theme, Nat found a red halter dress that was perfect, showing off her curves beautifully.
Velvet found a long, blue, cotton, off the shoulder dress with a slit up the side. Casual and comfortable.
"It looks great on you, Bucky will love it." Nat teased,
Velvet frowned "if they get back in time. I'm still waiting for the other
shoe to drop. Have you found anything about the pics?"
Nat sighed "No, Not really. I did try to find your ex and couldn't but he's not in Southern California. I have Friday searching with facial recognition so will hopefully know something soon. Don't worry, we won't let him hurt you."
"I know you mean that Nat and he's just a guy against the Avengers but he's very smart and will latch onto any opportunity to get paid. Things have been going so well here and I'm scared he will destroy it all." She felt her throat closing up
"What will Bucky think about being with a woman who did the things I did?"
Nat gave Velvet a hug "Barnes shouldn't have anything to say about a checkered past considering his."
The team returned on July 1st, tired and happy to be home but no major injuries.
Velvet received an email from Maria letting her know they were back and asking her to come to the compound to discuss her other matter.
Velvet went after lunch and spoke to Maria "Please tell me you have some good news, like you found Roger and made him disappear or something."
Maria smiled but it didn't reach her eyes "I wish that were the case. We did find him on a surveillance video from the subway but haven't been able to find him physically yet. We did some searching online and he seems to be in contact with someone here but we haven't been able to narrow it down."
Velvet sighed "If someone here has it in for me it's that bitch Janell Marshall. She told Bucky she would make him pay for dumping her and might think hurting me would hurt him since she accused him of having a thing for me."
Maria gasped "That's right, I had forgotten. I'll have a talk with her." Typing into her computer, Maria frowned "She's on leave till the 6th. I'll bring her in as soon as she comes back. FRIDAY, can you notify me when Janell Marshall returns to the compound"
"Of course Agent Hill"
Someone knocked on Maria's office door and Velvet moved to leave "Thanks Maria, see you on the 4th"
"I'll be there"
Velvet opened the door and gasped when she came face to face with Steve and Bucky, "Oh. Welcome home guys, glad no one was badly hurt. See you on the 4th"
They both muttered out a hello and Bucky flushed and looked at the ground.
Velvet shook her head and left before she said or did something stupid.
Obviously Bucky had some issue, Velvet hoped he didn't get copies of the pictures but his reaction to seeing her convinced her that he must have.
She made it to her car before any tears fell. All the work she did to get clean, get away from Roger and his influence but it just followed her across the country.
Bucky and Steve went into Maria's office to give their reports from the mission.
Bucky asked "Is everything ok with Velvet? Did something happen?"
Maria looked at him "No, Nothing serious, we were discussing some regular upgrades to her security system."
Bucky nodded and let Steve do most of the talking for the rest of the meeting.
When Bucky went back to his quarters he saw a stack of mail and just tossed it on his desk to deal with later.
He still didn't know how to face Velvet knowing that he was responsible for her disability and when he finally fell asleep, had nightmares of the Winter Soldier hurting her. He woke up screaming.
July 4th. After morning chores Velvet took Lexi for a ride to help her relax and think. She hadn't heard anything from Bucky since he returned.
She sent a text asking if he would be coming back to the stable and received an *I'm busy but when things calm down* reply. She sighed and figured she'd have to wait till the party, if he even went.
After her ride she drove to the compound to get ready with Wanda and Nat. They all chatted and helped each other get ready, not needing to get too fancy for a BBQ party.
Wanda didn't mean to see anything while she was working on Velvet's hair but the feelings were too intense and she gasped at what she saw.
"What's wrong, Wanda?" Velvet asked concerned.
Wanda shook her head "I'm so sorry. I wasn't trying to see anything but your feelings are so strong. Are you ok Velvet?"
Velvet's eyes grew wide "Wanda, what did you see?"
"I'm so sorry Velvet, I didn't mean to. I saw pictures of you. Someone's trying to blackmail or threaten you over them. Aren't they?"
Velvet closed her eyes and sighed "It's ok just please don't say anything to anyone. Only Nat and Maria know. I think it's my ex and Maria told me FRIDAY found him on a subway surveillance camera but they still haven't found him."
"Don't worry Velvet we won't let him hurt you." Wanda promised.
Velvet wasn't reassured but kept it to herself, she just hoped Bucky would feel the same way instead of rejecting her for being an addict and whore like in her nightmares for the last few nights.

When Steve, Sam, and Bucky strolled into the living room at a semi-early time in the morning, they saw the four of you were still asleep. Steve and Sam didn’t quite share Bucky’s sentiment on thinking you sleeping on top of Peter was cute. Ignoring the other man’s silent protest, Steve walked over and gently shook your shoulder— the jostling causing Peter to wake up as well. Both of you were too sleepy to process Steve’s facial expressions correctly, leaving him in shock at your next words with tones of excitement.
“Can we go out for breakfast… oh, good morning Dheaidí. Can we go out for breakfast?” you asked, your head still on Peter’s chest but turned to face Steve.
Sam and Bucky snickered watching Steve’s stern dad act get thrown off course. For a quick-thinking captain on the battlefield, he wasn’t able to easily course correct his plans for parenting.
“Sure.”
“Okay, but in an hour after you run. More sleep.”
“Sarah, I have to pee,” Peter said before you could close your eyes.
You put a finger to his lips.
“No talk, just sleep.”
“But…”
“Shhh.”
Your eyes flew open as you were suddenly lifted up and placed back on the couch. You forgot Peter and you had roughly the same strength. Steve chuckled as you watched your friend walk away to the bathroom with a look of betrayal.
“Speaking of running, if you want to use the gym again, go for it. We agreed this morning that you can and Tony’s letting you back in the lab. Limited plans, nothing Avenger-related.”
“Deal! Now I can fix the Roomba.”
“You actually made a Roomba?” Sam asked as he grabbed waters from the fridge for the run.
“Mmm hmm, Dad… oh look, the traitor’s back.”
“My bladder.”
You coughed the word traitor as Peter looked at you with an unamused face. He sat back on the couch, this time with a blanket, and you two had no problem laying back down in front of Steve— not reading the room at all. Sam swooped in and pulled him away for the run before he could say anything. When they came back, the four of you were up and looking a little more alive than previously. Ned and MJ were dropped off after breakfast while Peter came back to the compound with you guys. The rest of the team watched from the sidelines as the two of you did light training in the gym.
It kept going like that until it was the last week of school. You and Peter hadn’t tried to go after any villains since homecoming. You would train in the gym in the morning and on the mornings he stopped by Peter would join. The two of you did little things in the lab but didn’t once pester Tony if he said something was too classified for you guys to know. Tony smiled at the series of pictures Pepper showed him that she secretly took of the three of you— it was you and Peter sitting on top of your workstation while Tony sat at the bench playing a game of three way chess. Most of the pictures were of three of you staring intently at the board but Tony’s two favorites was one of him and Peter hi-fiving while you had a shocked expression on your face realizing they had been in alliance with you. The other was you three laughing over a dumb joke you told.
“They’re taking it surprisingly well,” Nat said as they watched from the common room window.
You and Peter chose to run around the compound early in the morning before school. Pietro had been challenging you both for a little while, claiming he was running as slow as he possibly could, but soon had gone back inside with the others. Everyone agreed with Nat’s observation. Sam took a sip of his coffee.
“You know I asked her the other day about being off probation. She said whenever we say she can come back that she’s ready, but she didn’t push it.”
They watched you and Peter stop running and look around the flat area. The two of you spotted a tree and nodded running towards it, tapping the trunk and then running back. You shoved Peter to throw him off balance and when he caught back up, he did the same to you. You guys had hands on your knees and were breathing a little heavy. You both jumped as a bolt of lightning landed near the two of you, which was strange because it was a clear day. Thor and Bruce appeared from the bolt.
“Uncle Bruce! Uncle Thor!” You cheered excitedly while running up to hug the two of them.
“Our strongest Avenger,” Thor said jovially as he lifted you up. Thor thought it was funny calling you that, anyone else tried to claim the title from him and he would stare daggers until they took it back.
“Are you guys done with your mission?”
Thor shook his head. “We’re taking a small break but I think Ragnarok is near, I can feel it. Banner and I will need to leave again soon… Almost forgot, Happy late Birthday! I have a present for you… I hope.”
You looked around him, not seeing any gift or anywhere that Thor could hold. Thor’s last present from when you were a lot younger was not appreciated by Steve— it was Christmas and Thor thought it was appropriate to gift you with an Asgardian wolf which got sent back the next morning. Thor didn’t realize the type of pet wasn’t the problem and got confused when one of the few pegasus they had left on Asgard also got sent back— but the pegasus was still yours, recognizing you the few times Thor’s taken you to Asgard.
“Hand,” Thor said.
You held out your hands like he said.
“Close your eyes.”
You did as he said and were confused when after a few seconds he started laughing, muttering he knew it. Thor turned you around to face the window while the rest of the team inside looked in shock. You opened your eyes to see Mjolnir in your hands— and you still standing.
“Awesome!”
“Go up to the roof.”
The rest of the team watched as you ran inside and took the elevator. They were surprised that the doors didn’t ding on the common room floor but kept going. Steve, Sam, and Bucky— mainly Steve— didn’t like wherever this was headed. The team’s attention was drawn back to the window as they heard your shouts of delight. Steve screamed as he saw you racing through the air being pulled at an insane speed around the compound, slowly getting closer to the ground with each pass around the large building.
You aggressively jerked as Thor caught you and set you down. You stumbled around dizzy before collapsing onto the grass. Peter did a handstand and then let himself tilt a little too far so he would fall flat on his back against the soft grass next to you and you both busted out in a fit of laughter. Thor and Bruce came inside to get food and start their small break— Steve yelling at Thor while the Asgardian god just laughed in entertainment.
“Would you like a turn?” Thor offered the hammer to Steve.
“No! That’s not what I’m mad abou—”
Thor walked off to go to his room. The team turned back to the window and looked on as you and Peter laid on the ground, smiling and talking about something they couldn’t hear, until the car approached with Happy driving.
“They’re good kids,” Clint said as they watched you two grab your backpacks and get in the car.
“Yeah, school year’s almost over. Maybe we should see how summer goes for them off-bench,” Steve suggested before picking up his ringing cell phone.
“Dheaidí? I forgot to tell you, decathlon has one more practice and we’re gonna be late coming back home, I got MJ to agree to go painting with us.”
“How late?”
“Hmm, 5? Is that okay?”
“Just fine, Babydoll.” Steve hung up the phone. “Tony is five too late for your press conference?”
“Eh, we can squeeze it in Capsicle.”
You entered the empty library at the end of the school day where the rest of the decathlon team was already sitting. Everyone except Liz whose family moved away, not even wanting to wait for the school year to finish. While no one else knew the truth behind the move, you and Peter felt bad for her knowing none of it could be easy. Mr. Harrington called everyone’s attention.
“Congrats national champions! Now I’m a little ahead of the game but we’ll need a new captain and I nominate Michelle.”
“Actually… my friends call me MJ.”
MJ looked at you, Ned, and Peter with a smile. Mr. Harrington nodded and dismissed everyone saying there was no need to start practicing for the new season right away and that you guys should enjoy the afternoon. As a small shock to your friends, you stopped walking with Peter and hooked your arm around MJ’s instead— the two of you slightly ahead of the boys.
“Here’s the place! The reviews are supposed to be really good,” you said as you stopped in front of the paint shop.
The bubbly receptionist greeted the four of you.
“Hi! I called earlier, um, Wilson-Rogers?”
“Of course. Let me just check.”
The receptionist looked in her ledger for your name and you realized when she didn’t look very hard that it was an act for your sake because she already knew who you were. Less than ten seconds of looking and she led you and your friends towards the back of the store where the studio was set up with lots of tables and chairs.
She directed you guys towards your table in the center of the room with the little chalkboard label that read Wilson-Rogers inside a large star. The four of you grabbed snacks and drinks and sat back down while people slowly started piling in for the class. Lots of people greeted you as they entered but were kind enough to leave it at a simple hello before sitting at their own seats. The teacher came in and clapped to start the class, setting the music low and turning on their mic so everyone could hear.
“Hello! It’s nice to see familiar faces and as always a welcome to our newbies whether it’s a one time thing or you like it so much you come back, we are glad to have you here. I’m McKenna, your certified Bob Ross for today’s class…”
Some patrons laughed and you assumed that this must have been something McKenna always said at the start of class.
“And for today, we’re going to be painting a full moon over the ocean. Not too hard, lots of fun. If everyone would squeeze out a glob of each paint tube on the station provided and grab the largest brush, let’s get started!”
The first part was easy. But once all the paint was squeezed onto your little palette, you realized it was almost all blue and purple. McKenna called for everyone to dip their brush in the darkest blue, mentioning it was the Royal Navy color for those who wanted to keep track of paints they wanted to buy and take home. MJ watched as Peter, her, and Ned got started but you just looked at the palette.
Three colors appeared to be visibly darker than the rest of the paints so you just had to narrow down and make a guess as to which was the Royal Navy. Your brush hovered tentatively over one of the shades and almost dipped in before you pulled it back and went to the other one, now unsure. MJ gently grabbed your hand and moved the brush over the correct color, not saying anything.
When you went to look at her, she was already staring at her canvas again, coating the bottom of it in the dark paint. It went like that for the rest of the class. Each time McKenna would call out a blue or purple color, MJ would move your brush over the correct one and then go back to her own canvas. The class ended and there was a thirty minute period to hang out while the paintings dried up enough to be put into cars and taken home.
“Thank you,” you said to MJ as you all compared your four paintings.
“They mentioned it in a history book I was reading.”
She left it at that. You and Peter parted ways with Ned and MJ to go back to the compound— well, MJ thought Peter was going home. Since he didn’t even want Ned to know, he was trying to stall MJ and his Aunt May finding out he was Spider-man for as long as possible. You and Peter walked hand in hand to the juice bar near the painting shop that you told Happy to pick you up at. Peter wouldn’t let you pay for the drinks, insisting on it since you had paid for the paint session. You heard the click as Peter handed you the drink. You both looked over to see multiple large cameras.
Evading paparazzi was something you were relatively good at— mainly because they weren’t allowed on campus so as long as you and Peter walked straight to his house, you usually didn’t run into anybody. All the Avengers were subject to the tabloids and social media but you, Vision, Wanda, and Clint were harder to find everywhere. You gave them a small, unsure smile in hopes that would appease them since no one had actually stepped into the juice bar. It seemed to be enough for now because as Happy’s car pulled up, they started to leave and you and Peter raced into the car in case someone tried to come back.
Happy complimented the two paintings and you guys headed back for the compound. You debated whether you wanted to get in a round at the punching bag or not before starting a movie. Instead of going to the residential floors— that were empty of almost everyone since they were doing office work downstairs until at least seven pm— Happy led you and Peter to outside the conference area where Tony was typing away on his phone. He looked up as you two approached and jogged over.
“Sorry I took your suit. I mean, you had it coming. But actually it was the perfect tough-love moment that you needed, right? To urge you on? Wouldn’t you think?”
“Uncle Tony, not amusing.”
“Well, let’s just say it was. Point is I also screwed up a little with you two, we all did. You both are assets to the team. Welcome back to the Avengers, Sarah. And congrats on becoming the newest official member Peter.”
Tony pressed a button on a remote he was holding and a panel in the wall slid open. It revealed two mannequins dressed up with you and Peter’s suits on them.
“Woah,” Peter said as he looked at the new design.
“What did you do to my suit?”
“It’s— this is better, I improved it,” Tony said defensively at your scrunched up nose.
“Is my old suit still around?”
Tony gave you a face before giving up and answering.
“Your dad put it back in your closet. So after Peter’s press conference, Happy will show you your own room Spiderling, you’ve already seen the compound.”
“Press conference?” Peter asked, confused.
“Show you to the world as an official—”
“Aunt May. I can’t do this if it’s public. She can’t know right now.”
“… okay, secret member, now you two get lost.”
“Come on, Dheaidí just bought more Ben & Jerry’s.”
You grabbed Peter’s hand to start heading up to the residential floors and your apartment. He could pick out a room later, it’s not like he didn’t spend half his time at the compound anyway— the rooms weren’t going anywhere.
“My Rocky Road there?”
“Yeah if Dad didn’t already eat it… oh Uncle Tony, if it makes it better, I like the pink half mask makes me look badass like Uncle Jamie.”
Tony huffed out a mix between a snort and a laugh but smiled anyway. At least Peter liked his suit and Tony guessed he could settle for the consolation prize that was your half mask. He and Happy watched like the proud uncles they were as you two ran to the elevators with a quickness.
“Where’s the kid?” Pepper asked. “Did you guys screw this up?”
“Ran off with Baby Wilson-Rogers, probably halfway through a tub of ice cream though I’m pretty sure they’re both lactose intolerant.”
“Tony, what?”
“I know, those two are cra—”
“Tony! Everybody’s waiting. I’ve a room full of people in there looking for some announcement. What am I supposed to tell them?”
“Think of something, how bout um, Hap. You still got that ring? The engagement ring?”
“Been carrying it since 2008.” Happy threw the ring to Tony while Pepper looked on in absolute shock with a glint of joy.
~~
Bucky stopped in the doorway of Steve’s office.
“Oh good, you’re here too,” he said to Sam who had come in moments earlier to file a mission report.
“I don’t like the look on your face.”
Sam quickly caught the phone that Bucky threw at him. Both he and Steve looked down to see he had it open to Twitter. You were the top four hashtags trending: AmericasDarling, Gemstone, DarlingsDarling, and SarahRogers. They were confused considering nothing special had happened that they were aware of. Sam clicked on one of them to see lots of people commenting and tweeting all with pictures at the bottom of each tweet.
Every picture was of you and Peter inside the juice bar. One was of you two holding hands while waiting in line, the other included Peter laughing at something you said. Another was of you accepting the drink Peter handed to you.
“You think they know?” Sam asked.
Before Bucky could answer, you and Peter came into Steve’s office— ice creams in hand. Steve gave you a face as you sat on top of his desk with little regard for his paperwork. Peter took the small office chair. You handed Steve your phone that had the same tweet pulled up that was on Bucky’s.
“I think they know,” Steve said to the other two men.
“We’re not dating, Dheaidí. Just thought I’d say that before you found out from the press.”
Sam chuckled. “Trust me, if you two were dating, we’d know.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Spiderling’s got a mouth on him,” Steve answered. “Speaking of Spiderling, got an alert about one of Tony’s old weapons being sold tonight around your area. You wanna take it, Queens?”
“Is this a test?”
“Not a test. You two are back on the team fully, this doesn’t seem to be too hard for a first mission. I thought you might want it.”
“Y-yes sir.”
“Better head out now, deal’s happening soon. Details will be sent to your suit.”
“Thank you, Captain.”
Peter saluted to Steve, making you and the other three men laugh. Peter capped the lid on his ice cream and ran out the room. He was back in less than a second to give you a peck on the cheek— this wasn’t new to Steve, Sam, and Bucky but after the Twitter posts they just saw, the three of them couldn’t help but look at the gesture a little differently.
“Last day of school’s a half-day at Midtown,” he told you. “Want to finally catch that improv show for lunch?”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“Parker, weapons, clock’s ticking,” Steve interrupted.
“Right, weapons. On it.”
Peter ran out again, grabbing his new suit, and left to go handle his first official Avengers’ mission. He smiled to himself as he heard your last statement to the three men in the office.
“If Peter and I were dating I definitely wouldn’t call him my darling. That’s so lame Darling’s Darling, ew. He’s more of a bae, you know. Ha, Spider-bae… ugh, why am I even talking about it to you three? Probably don’t even know what bae is,” you muttered as you jumped down from Steve’s desk and went back upstairs.

Chapter 43: Halloweentown.
“C'mon Lokes, it's cool.” He rolled his eyes. For the past hour, she had been trying to convince Loki that halloween celebrations were cool and not a stupid midgardian tradition, as he called it. “It's totally your style.”
“And what, pray tell, is exactly my style?”
“You know, hot people stuff. Cool clothes, scary vibes. Candy.” He snorted.
“Are you trying to convince me to go to a party with candy?”
“Is it working?” She asked, wiggling her eyebrows. He bit his lip to stop himself from grinning.
“Mmm, I am not sure.” He said, feigning thoughtfulness. “I am going to need something more… convincing.”
“Mmm and what, pray tell, could that be?” She said, imitating his lexicon as she slided closer to him on the bed. He smirked.
“What do you have to offer?” This time, she smirked.
“Whatever you want, baby.” Groaning, he crashed his lips onto hers and slid his hands down her back to grip her ass making her moan.
“I am gonna have to punish you for calling me that darling…” She bit his lower lip and his eyes almost rolled all the way back to his head.
“I can't wait,” she said, and just as she was about to kiss him again, someone knocked on the door. They both grunted in annoyance. “Who is it?” She asked, still on Loki's lap.
“Y/N, quit making out with Loki and come give us your opinion on something!” Nat said from the other side of the door.
“I was not making out with Loki!”
“Yeah sure,” she could picture the redhead rolling her eyes. “I could hear you two from the living area.” They both snorted and got up. When she opened the door, the spy raised her eyebrows at the god and Y/N huffed.
“I'm here, what is it?”
“They are discussing the name for Tony's Halloween party.” Loki was about to roll his eyes when Y/N jumped on the spot and clapped her hands.
“I have so many ideas!” She said, excited. “Lets go!”
-----------------------------
They were currently at the party, which ended up being called “Halloweentown” by Y/N's suggestion. Everyone liked it, except for Sam, who had suggested calling it “Spook-tacular”. And talking about the angry man…
“Hey Sammy!” She said grinning.
“Don't even,” he responded, trying to act serious.
“C'mon Sammy, you know you love me…” He rolled his eyes but smiled.
“Whatever, my name was better than yours.”
“Yeah uh-huh, whatever helps you sleep at night.”
“My friends!” Thor, dressed as Cap, boomed in excitement approaching the two of them. “Mr. Falcon, you look great, and Lady Y/N, what can I say? Absolutely stunning as always. I love the hair!” She smiled bashfully, she was dressed as Cruella de Vil so she had to buy a half black half white wig to go with the look.
“Thank you Thor,” Y/N told him as Sam clapped him on the shoulder. “Where is your brother by the way?”
“Oh he is coming, I believe he was struggling with his costume.” He said knowingly. Y/N grinned.
“Oh, okay…”
Everyone started to arrive, except… Suddenly, she saw him. Begrudgingly entering the floor were the party was being held, Loki looked like he was being forced to listen to a John Mayer song for thirty six hours non stop, but what caught the team's attention was not that, since it was his usual expression except when he was looking at Y/N, it was, instead, the costume he had on. He was wearing a onesie with Dalmatian patterns and he had pulled up his hood that had dog ears on it to finish the look. Y/N burst out laughing as soon as he approached everyone.
“Looking good Reindeer Games,” Tony said, barely containing his laughter. The others didn't even try and burst out laughing just as Y/N. Loki rolled his eyes. He could not believe he had agreed to this, he truly was in love huh?
“Loki,” Wanda said between laughs. “What did Y/N do to you?”
“In my defense, he looks adorable.” She told the witch, smiling. The god sighed and shook his head.
“I will get my revenge.”
“Yeah sure love.” In that moment, Loki felt like the whole universe had stopped. Love, she called him. Love. He would have cried then and there if it wouldn't have looked ridiculous. “Loki,” she called him, frowning. Everyone else was engrossed in their own conversations. “Are you okay?”
“Y-yes, I am.” She was still frowning so he smiled softly at her. “I promise you, I am okay.”
He would never break a promise, not to her, and she knew that, so she nodded.
“Wanna dance?” Y/N asked him.
“If you ask me in such a way…” He joked and she rolled her eyes, smiling.
“My Prince, would you do me the honour of joining me for a dance?” She said in a posh accent, stretching out her hand. He grabbed it.
“I would love nothing more.”
-----------------------------
“God, I'm hammered.” Tony said, flopping down on the couch. The last guest had left a minute ago and now everyone was laying around, either on the floor or on one of the couches.
“Mhm,” Nat agreed with him. The other ones just grunted. Everyone drank a bit more than the healthy amount and they all danced like there was no tomorrow.
“Okay guys I'm exhausted,” Y/N said, getting up from the floor. Loki followed suit.
“I wonder where Reindeer Games is going now…” Loki cleared his throat, uncomfortable, and she felt herself getting hotter and hotter from embarrassment.
“Shut up Stark, leave the two lovebirds alone.” Sam said mockingly.
“Goodnight Samantha, sleep well alone in your bed.” Y/N told him and everyone laughed at his expression of absolute betrayal.
“Fine, if this is how it's gonna be…” She laughed and blew him a kiss as she left hand in hand with Loki.
----------------------------
They were both lying on the bed, facing each other and just… admiring the other.
“You called me love,”
“What?” She asked, furrowing her brows.
“You called me love back at the party.”
“I- I did?”
“Mhm,” he nodded, a tiny smile forming on his lips.
“And you… How did you…” She sighed.
“I liked it, I liked being called love by you.” Y/N smiled softly and got closer to him.
“Well, you are my love.” She said, making him bite his lip to stop himself from crying. He felt so loved with her. And he loved her so much, words could never describe it. “Loki, it's okay.”
“What?” He asked, a bit choked up.
“It's okay if it makes you cry.” He pursed his lips and chuckled breathily.
“It does not make me cry.”
“Okay, but if it did it would be okay.” Suddenly he felt a tear fall from his eye, all the way to his nose and then to his cheek, falling on the pillow. “Love,” she said and he sniffled, burying his face in her neck. “It's okay, I love you, I'm sorry.” She wasn't saying sorry for something she did, she was saying sorry because she was sorry that he went through so much in his life, that he went through years and years of not feeling loved. And as his shoulders trembled and his tears stained her collarbone, she made a promise to herself. She would make him get used to this.

---------------------------
In retrospect, the entire team should have realized what was going on with you a lot sooner. To their credit, most of them had noticed that something was different about you, but other than Nat and Wanda none of them had a guess as to what exactly that was.
The men appeared completely clueless in respect to the cause of the recent changes in you. Even Clint, a married father of three, hadn't caught on even after he'd seen you leaving the bathroom having clearly just thrown up. Tony had been the closest to figuring it out of the all men, having noticed your odd mood swings and crying fits as they became more and more frequent. He noted the same behavioral pattern as he'd found himself stuck in after the Battle of New York, and secretly worried for your mental well-being. He hadn't felt comfortable enough to broach the topic with you just yet though, instead opting to watch you from a distance for the time being.
The women, however, seemed to understand almost instantly what was going on. Nat had figured things out once she realized that you had been skipping training lately and noticed that you and Peter barely appeared to leave one another's sides for even a moment. Wanda based her guess almost solely upon the fact that she could just feel that something was different about you; your entire energy had changed in the last few weeks and she noted it even before Peter had. Both women had their suspicions, but had seemingly agreed to keep their thoughts to themselves until you were ready to tell the team what was going on.
Your dads were a different story altogether.
It took Steve and Bucky much longer to notice something had changed with their daughter, Steve longest of all. Either you'd done a great job of avoiding your Pops or he'd been incredibly unobservant (or more likely both), but he hadn't seen anything that he would've considered out of the ordinary for you.
That is, until today.
"AAAAUUUUUUGGGGH"
Steve was on his feet in an instant, sprinting into the kitchen at the sound of your enraged scream. He skidded to a stop and surveyed the room with a trained look for the source of danger, but found none. In fact, you and Sam were the only two in the space as far as he could tell. Sam's back was pressed snugly against the furthermore countertop as you practically cornered him, the older man clearly caught off guard by your sudden burst of rage. You flung your hands around wildly as you yelled, one gripping a box so tightly that your knuckles were beginning to turn a concerning shade of white.
Completely bewildered, Steve watched in stunned silence for moment as you fumed and screamed expletives at the slightly-terrified looking Sam, without any clear indication as to what had happened.
"I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE YOU, YOU GODDAMNED ASSHO-"
"Y/N Barnes-Rodgers!" Steve scolded you finally, momentarily stopping your verbal assault. "What in God's name is going on here?"
Your eyes turned to your Pops' briefly before flickering back to glare in Sam's direction.
"Pigeon-brain ate the last of my oreos," you seethed, walking forward and jabbing an accusatory finger to Sam's chest, his hands instantly flying upwards in surrender.
Steve felt his jaw drop in utter disbelief.
“You-,”
“What’s with all the commotion in here?” Bucky interrupted, striding into the kitchen much as Steve had moments ago and joining his husband's side with a confused look on his face. Steve crossed his arms and frowned at their daughter.
“Apparently our daughter is screaming at Sam because he ate her cookies.” your Pops explained tersely.
“Not cookies, oreos,” you muttered, glare never wavering from Sam. You furiously threw the offending empty package roughly at his still bewildered face in lieu of another expletive. Sam was evidently so bewildered, in fact, that he didn't even flinch as the box hit his head and bounced pathetically to the floor.
Bucky raised his eyebrow.
“And that’s why you’ve been screaming like that?” he confirmed. You nodded, arms crossing your chest stubbornly.
Bucky shrugged, looking towards his husband with a look of indifference. “Makes sense.”
“No, it absolutely does not make sense,” Steve lightly scolded, glancing at Bucky with a pointed look before returning his gaze to you. “Y/N you’re completely overreacting. Apologise to Sam right now.”
Your mouth dropped open, and you gaped at your dads with an expression that was equal parts betrayal and rage.
“No.”
“No?” Steve repeated incredulously. He stared at you with disbelief, looking between you and Bucky like he was hoping he’d somehow misheard you. You met his glance with an equally stubborn look as you planted your feet solidly beneath you and tightened the cross of your arms. “What do you mean, no?”
“You heard me,” you spat, unwavering.
Sam merely looked confused as he watched the two of you argue, if albeit still a bit scared, but Bucky was sure his shock was evident on his face. You never back-sassed your Pops, not even when you were really angry, and Bucky only felt his disbelief grow at the prospect that your attitude was all due to a few cookies.
"Y/N, you don't get to tell me no," Steve ground out carefully, voice stern with a rare sort of parental authority he seldom had to use with you. In fact, Bucky was pretty sure he hadn't actually heard him use this particular tone since way back when you were a toddler testing the limits of your dads' patience. But unlike your three-year-old self, you didn't back down at your Pops' disapproving tone; in fact, you met his intense stare with a flippant roll of your eyes, deepening your dad's shock at your abrupt behavioral shift.
"He fucking knows what he did, everyone knows those oreos are mine," you snapped, eyes alight with a kind of fury the likes of which your dads had never seen from you before.
"Language!" Steve gasped at his daughter, his authoritative tone giving way to a spluttering one of complete disbelief.
"FUCK OFF!" you shouted instantly.
"HEY!"
Bucky had officially had enough. Irritation blossomed deep within his chest at the hurt he saw wash through his husband's eyes at your vulgar screech. Teenaged angst was one thing, but it was entirely another to blatantly disrespect Steve like you were. He still didn't know what was really causing you to act like this--because no way in hell could this be all over some oreos-- but he'd definitely passed the point where he even cared.
"Doll, that’s enough. Clearly you're upset, but you cannot speak to your Pops like that," he practically growled. You turned your attention to your dad with the same kind of indignant irritation in your eyes, a flash of fresh anger rolling across your face at the sight of Bucky's equally irate expression.
"You can fuck off too," you spat.
Bucky's jaw clenched dangerously, the muscle in his cheek jumping and twitching as he took in his daughter's crass retort. Sam had long since left the scene, the nearly suffocating tension officially too much for him to take. Steve's eyes went wide for what felt like the millionth time since he'd first walked into the kitchen. If he hadn't known something was wrong before, he undoubtedly did now.
You may not disobey him often, but you never snapped at Bucky.
Steve had long since accepted that, though you loved the two of them the same, you'd always liked Bucky more. A daddy's girl from birth, you and Bucky had always been inseparable-- so for you to now scream and curse at him like this was like a flaming-red flag in Steve's mind.
Something was definitely wrong.
"Excuse me?" Bucky hissed. The two of you faced one another, arms crossed and expressions grim. You planted your feet even more solidly underneath you, staring your dad down with a fury so intense it was almost palpable. If it weren't for the overall tension of the situation, Steve might've teased the two of you for your near-mirrored positions.
"Y/N? What's going on, I thought I heard yelling?" Peter asked as he practically skidded into the kitchen. He immediately joined you, face morphing into a look of utter concern at the sight of yours and Bucky's standoff. Steve braced himself, mentally apologizing to Peter for the verbal assault that was surely coming his way.
But it never came.
It was as if all the unwarranted anger was sucked from your body in a rush as soon as you caught sight of your boyfriend. Your face crumpled into an anguished expression, and Steve could see how the tears welled up in your eyes instantaneously. Peter clicked his tongue in pity and you thrust yourself instantly into his awaiting arms. He gripped you tightly, and you eagerly buried yourself further into his embrace. Face smashed tightly against his chest, you began to sob uncontrollably.
Your dads gaped at the scene, wide-eyed.
"S-sam ate my oreos a-and now everyone's mad at me, and I j-just wanted my snack!" you all but wailed, voice muffled by Peter's body.
Bucky blinked once as he turned to his husband, total confusion written all over his features. Steve just gaped in response, unable to formulate a semi-coherent thought, let alone words.
"Oh angel, it's okay," Peter cooed softly into your hair, hands rubbing up and down your back soothingly as you continued to cry. "I can go and get you more oreos; don't cry Y/N/N, I'll just run down to the store right now to get you some."
Lifting your head from his chest, you seemed slightly placated and hopeful as you sniffled and looked up at him.
"C-can I come with you?" you asked him shyly, tear-stained cheeks turning a slight shade of pink at your childish request. Peter smiled fondly down at you, clearly happy to see that you were feeling better.
"Of course, it'll be nice to walk with you," he smiled sweetly at you and lightly kissed your nose. You giggled as you removed yourself from his embrace before walking over to your dads.
"M'sorry I shouted daddys. Love you guys!" you apologized in a chipper voice before kissing both of the men's bewildered cheeks.
The two supersoldiers both stood in stunned silence as they watched you leave hand in hand with Peter, who briefly shot them an apologetic look before the pair were gone. Steve thought he heard Peter mumbling something to Y/N as they left, but the only words he could pick out were "not good to get so worked up", which only confused him further.
"What in the hell was that?" Bucky grumbled, face still crinkled with bewilderment. Steve simply shook his head.
"I have absolutely no idea. I've never seen her behave like that, have you?"
"Nothing like that, but she was acting funny the other day too," he frowned, recalling the scene he'd walked in on just a few days prior. "She was full out sobbing on the couch a few days ago over a toilet paper commercial."
Steve gaped at his husband.
"Sh-she...what?"
"Doll have you seen your Pops? I can't find him any-"
Bucky's question died in his throat as soon as he hit the threshold of the TV room. You were curled up on the couch, arms wrapped around your knees as sobs racked through you. Peter sat next to you with his eyes crinkled in concern and hands rubbing gently at your shoulders as you cried.
"Y/N what's wrong, why are you crying?" Bucky asked. Feeling his protective instincts kick in instantly, he couldn't help but search the room with his eyes in search of any danger. Finding nothing, he narrowed his eyes at your boyfriend.
"Did he do something?" Bucky demanded. "Parker I swear to God if you hurt her I-"
"What? N-no I didn't do anything Mr. Bucky I swear!" Peter spluttered, eyes widening in fear at the terrifying look in your dad's eyes.
"Bullshit, then why's she crying like that? Of course you did someth-"
"N-no it's not P-peter dad!" you interrupted tearfully. "There was an ad on TV that just made me emotional okay? You know, the one with the boy crying in the bathroom and his dad offers him toilet paper for his tears?"
There was a beat of silence.
"Doll, you really mean to tell me that you're sobbing over a toilet paper ad?" Bucky asked, brows furrowed in disbelief. You sniffled as you nodded, and fresh tears began to pick your eyes once more.
"Yes! I mean it's just so inspiring," you blubbered. "I mean how often do you actually get to see a teenaged boy cry on TV? Never, cause toxic masculinity standards in this stupid patriarchal society we all live in say otherwise! And not only does the dad accept that his son is crying and is allowed to feel real emotions, he sits down to talk with him about them! I just got so happy thinking about all the little boys who will see this ad and feel the validation that they're normal for feeling sad every once in a while!"
Bucky just stared at his daughter with a blank look for a moment; he looked like he was unable to formulate a single response to the information he'd just been given.
"Well that's...uh….that's great I gue-"
"I can't believe you would just assume that me crying just had to be because of something Peter did," you interrupted, angrily brushing the leftover tears from your face. "It's so unfair, you always blame him for everything!"
"I-uh," Bucky stammered, flustered by the sudden change in your emotions. You scoffed and stood quickly from your spot in Peter's embrace, crossing your arms petulantly.
"It's true dad, you're always looking for something to yell at him for! It's so biased and unfair," you practically yelled. "Honestly it's such prejudiced bullshit. Some kind of outdated 'lock up your daughters' rhetoric that I can't believe yo…"
At some point during your impassioned speech you began stomping away from both your dad and Peter while still ranting. As your shouts became fainter and fainter Bucky found himself directing his dumbfounded expression at Peter instead. In a rare show of solidarity with your boyfriend, Bucky silently begged for an explanation as to what on earth had just happened.
Despite the way his heart was hammering wildly in his chest Peter remained silent. He offered only a passive shrug to your dad before he clambered to his feet and began following after you. If Bucky hadn't been caught so off guard he surely would've been suspicious at the visible sweat that was beading on Peter's forehead and the way the young boy's hands trembled as he quickly left the room, the question of what was causing your mood swings laying thickly unanswered in the air.
"What the fu-"
"She...a toilet paper ad? Really?"
"Yep, a friggin' toilet paper commercial," Bucky nodded solemnly. Steve blinked once, shaking his head.
"So what did you do?" he asked incredulously.
"Nothin'," Bucky shrugged. "She was so damned worked up that I figured she needed some space, and by the time I went to talk to her she'd already seemed completely fine. Thought it wasn't worth upsetting her all over again."
Steve snorted.
"Yeah right, you were just too scared you would make her mad again," he chuckled.
"Hell yeah I was," Bucky admitted freely, crossing his arms and shooting his husband a defiant expression. "You've seen her, you know how terrifying she can be when she's pissed!"
Steve chuckled once more, shaking his head fondly.
"Mmmm, and I wonder where she got that from."
Bucky narrowed his eyes and scowled at the implication, a surly look overtaking his features. Steve couldn't help but laugh outright at the expression on his husband's face; it was the exact same face you always made when you were annoyed, right down to the little pout in your lip.
"For the last time Stevie, she doesn't get that from me," he grumbled.
"Sure Buck, whatever you say," Steve laughed.
Though your odd behavior and mood swings were at least now on both your dads' radar, neither had any clue as to the actual reason for your sudden changes. The pair of them chalked up the incidents to little more than teenaged angst, however they had no idea how wrong they were nor just how soon they were about to find out what was really going on.
---------------------------
"I don't understand Y/N," Steve stated carefully. "Why exactly don't you want to go with the team?"
You shifted your weight from foot to foot anxiously, huffing out a breath in mock annoyance and very real frustration.
You'd been in the training room, lightly working out with Nat and Wanda when your Pops and Tony had walked in to announce that there was an urgent mission that apparently would require the entire team. Internally cursing your timing, you'd tried to sneak out of the room unnoticed, but as your luck would have it, your dad caught you. Now you were stuck arguing with your dads, the attention and curiosity of everyone in the gym directed at you.
Your heart was thrumming wildly in your chest as you furiously racked your brain for some way, any way, out of this assignment and this conversation without an actual reason.
Well, a reason you were actually willing to give, that is.
"Why does it even matter?" you snapped, hoping that no one clocked the tremor in your voice. "It's not like you guys even need me anyways."
"Doll, you always jump at the chance to come with us," your dad interjected. "So what's so different about today?"
"I just don't want to," you whined, lying through your teeth. "I'm tired and I don't feel good."
"But you were literally just training?" Sam pointed out. You narrowed your eyes at him, irritation bubbling under the surface of your anxiety at the contradiction. The older man shrank back a bit under your firey gaze, the previous incident in the kitchen clearly prominent in his mind as he stepped behind Wanda.
Clint snorted.
"If you could even call that training," he mumbled under his breath. Your jaw dropped.
"What is this, gang up on Y/N day?!" you sassed as your arms flew to cross your chest defensively. Your Pops shook his head.
"We're just worried Y/N/N," he reassured, brows furrowed with concern. "You've been behaving very strangely lately, and this is just one more thing."
"Yeah doll," Bucky nodded, agreeing with his husband. "So what gives?"
Your pulse sped up once more at the direct question, a sickening feeling rising in your throat like bile at the realization of just how suspicious your dads were. Unable to think clearly through your panic, you did the only thing you could think of.
You scoffed in fake disbelief, rolled your eyes, and began stomping out of the room.
"Y/N Barnes-Rodgers!" your dad shouted in an indignant and angered tone. "We are not done talking about this!"
Damn.
"What?!" you whirled around, stomping your foot like a child. "I just don't want to go this time okay?"
Bucky's face turned red at your open defiance, but Steve interrupted before he could even open his mouth to snap back at you.
"No Y/N it's absolutely not okay," he scolded. You felt the burn of unshed tears prick your eyes as they searched desperately around the room, mind racing to think of an excuse that would get you out of this situation.
"But-"
"No, no buts Y/N," your dad barked, clearly having composed himself enough to speak once more. His arms were crossed as he glared at you, and the stubbornly annoyed look on his face was enough to make the tears in your eyes begin to fall. A feeling of utter entrapment and fear settled in your chest like a suffocating weight as you felt the hot, fresh tears stream down your cheeks.
"Doll, are you crying?" your Pops questioned incredulously. "What on earth is going on with you?"
"Nothing! I just can't go today," you blubbered, past the point of being able to hold back your sobs.
"You can't go, or you won't go?" Bucky asked pointedly, evidently not swayed by your tears.
"It doesn't matter," you cried desperately. Your dad's eyes bored into yours directly as if he was searching your brain to find out what you were holding back from him.
"It clearly does matter, otherwise you wouldn't be acting like this," he continued harshly. "I'm not sure what it is you aren't telling us, but I don't even care at this point. Stark said he needs everyone and your Pops told you to go, so you need to get yourself together and go and get ready."
The tears were now cascading down your face in giant streams and your face was growing warmer by the second. You darted your gaze back and forth between the other team members' faces, still searching for some kind of last minute way out of this situation. Finding only curious or concerned expressions, you turned back to your dads with wide eyes. You felt your mouth go dry as your lips open and closed wordlessly, the severity of your current predicament weighing you down more and more by the second.
"I-"
"No. I don't want to hear another word from you Y/N," your dad snapped. "Go and get ready for the mission now."
"But she can't go!"
Time stopped for a split second as the entire room's heads snapped towards the desperate shout.
Peter had only just entered the training room, wondering where everyone was, when he caught the tail end of your dad's order. He couldn't help but blurt the first thing that'd come to mind, the implication of which only dawned on him afterwards. As he rushed to your side he shot you a sheepish look, and you internally cringed a bit at his slip.
Even though you were certain Peter's involvement would only further reduce your already slim chances of getting out of this mission without a full confession of what was really going on, you couldn't help but feel an inkling of relief as his eyes locked with yours. His hand immediately intertwined itself with yours once he'd reached you, and your belly fluttered with a warm tinge of comfort with the simple touch.
True, things were probably about to go sideways for the both of you, but at least Peter was here to go through it by your side.
"Excuse me Parker?" your dad spat incredulously, eyes blazing with anger at your boyfriend's outburst. "I don't recall asking you for your opinion on my daughter or what she can or can't do."
Peter stood a little taller as he looked Bucky straight in the eyes with an unprecedented amount of determination.
"She can't go." he practically growled, eyes stern and unyielding as he openly defied your dad. He was standing a half-step in front of you, tense back partially shielding you from the rest of the team as he spoke.
Even with his face turned the opposite direction you could see from his profile the way his brows were furrowed and how dark his normally chocolate brown eyes had gotten. You felt a slight shiver run up your spine at the fiercely protective energy Peter was radiating, and your heart felt a bit lighter at the way he stood up to your dad on your behalf. You squeezed his hand in an effort to ground him, and he softened marginally as he glanced back at you.
Your dad however looked as if he might combust soon based on the way his eyes bulged out and his face turned a concerning shade of red.
"What's that supposed to mean Peter?" Steve interjected carefully, his hand reaching up to rest comfortingly on his husband's shoulder.
"It means exactly what we said," Peter said firmly. "Y/N cannot go on this mission today."
The team watched the interaction between you, Peter, and your dads with their heads bouncing back and forth between the four of you like they were watching a tennis match. Not a word had been uttered from a single one of them, and yet they stood completely transfixed as they waited patiently to see the outcome of the argument.
"And why, pray tell, is that Parker?" your dad hissed, scowl etched across his features.
Peter's eyes traveled to yours, irises swimming with a silent question. Realizing that there was no way out, you took a steadying breath as you nodded softly and squeezed his hand once more in reassurance. Peter smiled at you fondly before dropping his smile and turning back to your parents.
"She can't go because...it could be bad for the baby."
You could've heard a pin drop in the training room. No one made a sound, no one even dared to breathe. The shock in the room was palpable, but you couldn't be bothered to even glance at anyone other than your dads, their reactions the only two that mattered to you in this moment.
Though you'd expected a rather explosive reaction from your parents (especially from your dad), you were met instead with blank stares. Your dads were simply staring at you and Peter in stunned silence, and their lack of a response actually frightened you more than the screaming you'd been anticipating for weeks now. The beat of silence seemed to stretch on eternally, though in reality it was probably no more than thirty seconds. You watched nervously, your hand becoming sweaty in Peter's as you waited. Finally, your Pops blinked and opened his mouth cautiously.
"Bad for the wha-"
"I SWEAR TO GOD PARKER THAT'D BETTER BE SOME KIND OF DISGUSTING PET NAME FOR MY DAUGHTER."
Ahhh. There it was.
Your dad had clearly broken through his frozen thoughts enough to respond, and you would've laughed if you weren't so terrified. He looked positively furious; his eyes were darker than you'd ever seen them and his face had darkened from red to an almost purple color that looked painful to say the least. His murderous gaze was hyper-fixated on Peter, and you couldn't help but step in front of your poor boyfriend in an effort to take some of the heat off him.
Peter, evidently, was having none of that, and he frowned before pulling you backwards and tucking you into his side tightly. If you hadn't been so focused on your dad right now you might've rolled your eyes at his over-protectiveness. Instead you allowed yourself the comfort of his embrace as you took a steadying breath.
"It's not," you responded as calmly as you could manage while your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your throat. "I'm pregnant."
Silence enveloped the room once more, and you could've sworn it was even more awkward than the first time. It must've been, because you could see Nat and Wanda ushering the rest of the team out of the gym out of the corner of your eye. You weren't quite sure if you were grateful for the privacy or more scared of how your dads would react now that you were alone.
Your dads stared at you and Peter with wildly different expressions. Steve was staring off into space and looking as if he was either going to throw up or pass out soon, and Bucky still looked as if he was about a half a second away from murdering Peter with his bare hands. To his credit, Peter was still standing by your side with the same look of determination as before despite this, but you could feel the way his pulse was hammering through his veins as he too carefully surveyed your dads' reactions.
You stood quietly, trying to be patient as you watched them, but the suspense and anticipation quickly became overwhelming and you couldn't help but blurt,
"Say something!"
Though both their gazes snapped up to your face with your plea, yet neither your dad nor you Pops said anything. You were suddenly overcome with the urge to explain yourself.
"I know that you're probably in shock or angry or maybe both- and honestly that's completely fair!" You rambled breathlessly. "I know we're still only eighteen, but I really think everything's gonna be okay? Really, I do. And I'm so sorry about today, believe me this isn't how we planned on telling you at all bu-"
"You're not coming on the mission," Steve interrupted, his voice completely devoid of emotion. "Nor is Peter. Your dad and I will be back later, and we're all going to have a long discussion."
It felt like all the air was sucked out of your body as you watched your Pops pull your dad towards the training room exit. You hadn't been fully sure of just how you were going to tell them, but never in your wildest dreams did you imagine that it would come out like this. Tears once more welling up in your eyes, your heart sank as you realized just how disappointed and angry they were.
"I love you," your voice cracked as you called to their retreating forms, unable to bear the sight of them leaving without reminding them. They both paused in the doorway, and without turning back both muttered that they loved you too before they were gone.
As soon as they left you immediately twisted yourself and thrust your face into Peter's chest, the tears flowing steadily as you sobbed. He wrapped his arms tightly around your shaking form, lips finding the crown of your head and hands rubbing soothingly across your back.
"Th-they hate me now," you whispered brokenly into Peter's soft hoodie in between sobs. "They hate me Pete, they're n-never going to forgive me for this!"
Peter shushed you quietly, gentle lips kissing your hair as he began to sway you back and forth slowly.
"They don't hate you angel," he soothed. "They're just surprised. Disappointed in the timing maybe, but they'll get over it. I promise."
"I never wanted it to go like this," you cried as you pulled your head from his chest slightly. Peter's hands left your back for a moment to come and rest on either of your cheeks. He leaned down to press a soft kiss to your forehead before retreating upwards to look deep into your eyes.
"I know you didn't sweet girl, but it did," he said gently as he brushed away some of your tears with the pads of his thumbs. "It did and it's going to be okay. We'll talk to your dads when they get back and clear everything up. And no matter what, you and I are going to get through this together, okay?"
You sniffled softly, nodding sadly. Peter's eyes were swimming with guilt and dejection at the sight of the empty expression on your face. He didn't know how to comfort you in this situation, but it was like every molecule in his body was demanding he do so. He leaned down once more to press a loving kiss to your forehead, then your cheeks, your nose, and finally your lips.
You sighed, head retreating back to his chest once your lips disconnected. Sadness was still swirling in your stomach and you just longed for the feeling that being in Peter's arms brought. He seemed to understand perfectly- as he always did- pressing his cheek to the top of your head and wrapping his arms tightly around you without a word. The two of you stood there for a while, bodies entangled as you continued lightly swaying back and forth. Peter's hands continued to roam up and down your spine and your tears began to slow and dry.
Eventually you hummed, stepping back and up on your toes to press an appreciative kiss to Peter's face. He smiled as a faint pink tinted his cheeks at your display of affection. You giggled, slightly amazed that even after everything you two had done, something as simple as a peck on the cheek could still make him blush.
"Thank you," you said quietly, looking up into his eyes. He quirked an eyebrow at you in confusion.
"For staying with me through all that. I mean it's you, so I wasn't really worried...but my dad can be really frightening. So thanks," you half joked.
Peter chuckled lightly as he pulled you back into his arms once more.
"Of course angel. Told you, I'm never going to leave you. Even if your dad is super scary. You two are stuck with me now. I'm never ever going to leave you or our baby," he vowed quietly into your hair as his hands reached down to rub the small but growing bump in your tummy lovingly. "We're gonna get through this all together, as a family."
You felt tears well up in your eyes once more, but this time out of sheer love and happiness.
Damned hormones.
"You're gonna be such a good daddy Peter," you whispered gratefully. Hearing the slight crack in your voice, Peter pulled you away from his chest gently to wipe your tear stained cheeks once more.
"Hey now, no more tears today," he scolded playfully as he tugged you across the room. "When's the last time you ate something? We have the whole kitchen to ourselves now, and I bet my babies are hungry!"
You chuckled lightly as you allowed him to pull you along with him towards the kitchen. All the while, he chattered happily about the new article he'd just read about the specific nutritional needs pregnant women have, and your heart swelled at his thoughtfulness. You were still apprehensive about the upcoming conversation with your dads, but you were definitely feeling better. As much as their approval and involvement would mean to you, you'd come to the conclusion that as long as you had Peter by your side everything would work out alright.
Somehow.
---------------------------
"Petey, are you sure you don't need any-"
"No! Nope. I've got this," your boyfriend interrupted stubbornly. You signed, hand absentmindedly rubbing across your swollen stomach as you watched him struggle with the latch on the new crib the two of you were setting up.
Well, the crib that Peter was setting up.
It'd been a few months since the team had found out about the newest upcoming addition to the Tower, and you'd decided that it was time to begin decorating the nursery. Tony, of course, had offered to have someone come in to do all the heavy lifting, but Peter was insistent that he be the one to set everything up. His protectiveness over you and the rapidly growing child you were carrying had only increased as the months went on, so much so that you were lucky now if he'd even let you stand for long enough to watch him put the baby's furniture together. It was endearing, really, how much he cared for the two of you, but you'd be lying if you said that you weren't becoming a little frustrated with how little you could do to help.
"Really Peter, I can help," you grumbled, annoyed. "I'm pregnant, not disabled."
"Of course you could help angel, but I don't need help," he grunted, eyes never leaving the mass of parts around him. "You already have to do all the work of growing and housing our baby, the least I can do is build the crib!"
"Housing?" you teased, quirking an eyebrow.
"You know what I meant," he grumbled, and you couldn't help but chuckle at his growing frustration.
Peter was clearly losing his grip just a bit as he struggled to make sense of the instructions that had been provided with the pieces. He sighed, throwing the pamphlet down on the ground before trudging over to where you stood, leaning against the changing table that he'd put together a few days ago.
"I've engineered web-fluid from absolutely nothing, re-built computers from scratch and yet I can't even manage to put this stupid bed together," he whined as he dropped his head down onto your shoulder in defeat. "M'gonna be a terrible father."
"Ohhh bubs," you cooed sympathetically, smile falling quickly and heart lurching at the tone of pure dejection in his voice.
You wrapped your arms around him, one snaking around his back and the other cradling his head. Your fingers began instantly carding through his chocolate-brown locks as he nuzzled his nose lightly into the junction of your neck and shoulder. His hands wound their way around your waist too- or as well as they could with your round tummy in the way- and his own hands began absentmindedly tracing patterns over your bump.
"Peter you have to know that isn't true," you soothed, kissing his cheek softly. "You're going to be an amazing dad."
He hummed non-commitally.
"You think you're not?" you challenged, fingers halting their dance against his scalp. "Do the thing."
He raised his head from your shoulder, brows furrowed in confusion.
"What does that have to do with-"
"Do the thing," you interrupted sternly. He sighed and knelt down, grumbling inaudible complaints as he went. Once he was face to face with your bump he placed his hands on either side, thumbs rubbing soft circles into your stretched-out skin.
"Hi baby, it's me, your daddy," he spoke softly into your stomach, lips so close that you shivered with each breath that ghosted over your clothed belly. "I love you so much."
The baby responded instantly at the sound of Peter's voice, feet jabbing out and kicking excitedly from within just underneath where his hands lay. You felt your heart skip a beat at both the feeling the movement in your belly and the sight of the dopey smile that lit up Peter's handsome face as he felt his child's kicks. You rubbed over his hands lovingly and smiled down at him.
"See bubs? He starts throwing a party in there every time you do that. He loves you so much already, that's not gonna change," you reassured him softly. Peter's smile dropped just a little.
"But the crib-"
"Fuck the crib," you responded stubbornly. "You are the most caring, sweetest, and most thoughtful person I know Peter. You're going to be the world's best dad."
"Whoa whoa, believe we're the ones with the mugs that claim that title," a voice chuckled from the doorway.
You smiled fondly, eyes darting to find the sight of your Pops leaning casually against the frame of the door with your dad standing just behind him. Both had amused smiles on their faces, and you grinned widely. Even Peter smiled as he rose to his feet and wrapped one of his arms around your back to pull you into his side.
"Okay, third best dad in the world then," you amended, grinning.
"That's better," your dad piped up, smiling. "Now what's this I hear about a faulty crib? Sam said he can hear Peter cursing all the way from his room."
Peter groaned, tilting his head backwards in exasperation as you laughed out loud.
"It isn't faulty, I'm just an idiot," Peter grumbled. Everyone but him chuckled, and your dad walked further into the room. He clapped a hand on Peter's back as he grinned at the younger man.
"Normally I'd agree with you, but I know if I do Steve will bring up how Y/N had to sleep in the bassinet for like 6 months because we couldn't figure out how to put her crib together."
"You mean you couldn't figure it out," your Pops snorted from his place in the doorway. "As I recall, I was not allowed to help with the furniture because you were determined to figure it out on your own."
Bucky shrugged, seemingly indifferent to his husband's insinuation.
"Whatever. Point is, I wanted to see if you wanted some help putting it together. Thought I might be able to give you some tips," your dad continued. Peter's smile widened, and he nodded eagerly before your dad knelt down to help try and make sense of the directions.
The discussion after the incident in the training room had gone much better than you would've ever imagined. Both your dads had been relatively calm once they'd returned from their mission, and surprisingly there had been no screaming, no crying, and no threats towards Peter from Bucky like you'd been picturing. The four of you had sat down together and had a long, mature discussion of what your plans were in terms of raising and caring for your child, and by the end your dads had even seemed enthusiastic about the prospect of being grandparents. Their involvement and excitement had only grown in the following months to the point now that you felt silly for ever having been frightened to tell them.
And now as you stood watching your boyfriend and dad work together to put your child's room together, tears began collecting in your eyes and you felt your chest warm with feelings of overwhelming love. Steve, noticing your tears, moved to wrap his arms around you and you leaned your head against his shoulder. Rubbing your belly lovingly, you couldn't help but feel a wave of gratitude wash over you for the men in your life and love for the little one that you'd all be meeting soon.

Your real dad
-
Steve tightened his grip around your draw-string bag that he had convinced you to part ways with, as you, him and your mother made your way into the tower. He was dreading the reunion with Bucky after not seeing the team for about 2 weeks. You were practically bouncing on your feet to see your real dad. While Steve was there watching you treat your dad like a hero but not even spare him a glance.
Your family relationship was complicated yet simple at the same time: you hated your mom but tolerated her, loved your dad with all your heart, hated your stepdad as much as he tried, treated Peter like your brother and Thor exactly like your uncle.
Why did you hate your stepdad so much?
Well, first of all, he pretended like he was your real dad and tried to do all of the things with you that you and Bucky did together. Second, he always stole all your moms attention and made you feel like you were alone (whether he meant it or not)
The elevator door dinged, indicating that the three of you had reached your floor where currently Bucky, Thor, Tony, Natasha and Sam were hanging out, waiting for your “family”. The others were in the kitchen, trying to get a sneak taste of the food that had been ordered.
“Dad!” You yelled and raced up to the super soldier, he broke out into a grin and picked you up off the ground to invade you into a bone-breakinghug. “Hiya doll face.”
You grinned back at him and got down from his arms briefly to run across the room to retrieve your drawstring back so you could show your dad your new spiderman action figure that had been bought by your cousin Peter.
“Look! Look!”
He smirked slightly at your excited demeanour as you held up the toy as high as you could while jumping up and down for him to see. Once he’d figured out who the character was, you had already gone running off to see what Wanda and Vision had baked in one of the many kitchens.
“Hey Buck” Steve acknowledged as friendly as he could, it wasn’t that the two ‘friends’ hated each other, but there was definitely some tension in the room as the two sat parallel. Tony cleared his throat and mentioned something about having a cough as he quickly left the room.
“I better see where he got off to” Natasha and your mother said at exactly the same time, not wanting to experience what they thought was about to go down.
“Hi Steve” the older soldier greeted back, not sure what the intentions of the conversation were exactly. In the tower, the history between both soldiers and your mother was known but not really spoke of- Bucky dated your mother for quite a while (almost four entire years), and got her pregnant with you, but- as everybody was sure to know- all good things must come to an end- and the two broke up on good terms. That was before Steve Rogers himself got involved at a certain billionaire’s party when they realized they were (and this is in your mother's words) “meant for each other.”
“I’m erm, here to speak to you about something.” As if the awkwardness present in the room was no longer enough before, by now it was almost too much. Thor and Sam took the most obvious hint and left the room in search of something else to occupy their time.
“Well, you’re free to speak-“ Bucky was interrupted by the loud sound of laughing from behind the wooden door and almost instantly after a hushing sound. The two men had completely different reactions to this, Steve was utmostly confused, both eyebrows scrunching together, while Bucky’s face held a small smile. He knew exactly who was trying to eavesdrop and it just proved how much Steve did not know his stepdaughter from the fact he didn’t immediately know. “(Y/N),” he called out, the humour evident in his voice, “Parker, we know you're out there.”
“Awww, Peter you gave our secret identities up!”
By now Steve had caught on to the two of you and laughed lightly, trying to cover up the fact that his only chance to ask Bucky his question alone, was interrupted.
The wooden door creaked open, revealing Peter, dressed up in his spiderman suit for dramatic effect and you with a bandana on, which you thought made you look like a ninja and you held your action figure tightly in your left hand.
“(Y/N), you know it’s rude to eavesdrop” Steve scolded you, trying to be firm. You ignored him and shrugged your shoulders before going to follow the scent of Chinese food.
“Doll,” your dad stopped you “don’t ignore people, you know not to do that” he stood up from his spot on the sofa and began to also make his way to the kitchen, you right beside him muttering a small “okay dad.”
Steve tried not to let his heart sink as his best friend walked away. He would just have to try and get Bucky alone at another point in the night. If he didn’t get an answer, then he would have no use for the small box that was sitting in his trouser pocket.
“Bonjour,” Clint greeted the two of you as you both arrived for food, the island set up with enough plastic plates for everyone (Tony couldn’t be bothered with hiring people to wash normal, expensive ones multiple times a day)
Your mother smiled at you from the other side of the kitchen, but she was immediately confused when you didn’t smile back. The reason you had not, is because you had a feeling you knew exactly what question your stepdad had for Bucky and did not at all like the sound of it.
“Fries?” Bruce offered, tilting the box of food towards you. You nodded gratefully and grabbed a handful. The conversations at the table were mixed; Thor ranting passionately about the food at his home planet, Tony mumbling something about not even being hungry anyway (you thought he was just being salty since he didn’t get his Shawarma), Bucky and Sam having a silent argument across the table, and Peter was busy singing Christmas songs in his best Santa Claus voice.
“Have a holly jolly Christmas, and in case you didn’t seeeee” Natasha rolled her eyes dramatically at the teenager making everyone laugh.
“Hey don’t get annoyed at me! Everyone loves Christmas!”
You used to love Christmas before your parents separated and you weren’t allowed to spend the holiday with your dad.
“I don’t like Christmas,” your dad shrugged half mindedly while taking a sip of his soda. Peter looked at him like he had two heads and exclaimed in shock, “that impossible!”
“It ain’t kid,” Bucky chuckled while your mother shifted in her seat uncomfortably, realizing the reasoning.
While you worked your way through the pile of noodles, Thor’s incessant ranting came to an end, and the teenager had seemingly run out of songs, the group of superheroes decided to hang out in the living room and watch a movie before you, Steve and your mother had to go home.
“Which one?” Nat asked the room while holding up two movies, the nightmare before Christmas and the corpse bride. Both Halloween movies, neither particularly scary.
“How could one have a nightmare on the day before Christmas? Surely that is against the rules of the Holiday Christmas, that is based on happiness?” Thor asked, earning a quizzical look from you. “Stop tryna act like Shakespeare big man” Tony laughed while grabbing a handful of popcorn and shoving it all into his mouth.
Steve ignored the billionaire, and while no one seemed to be paying attention he directed his attention to Bucky, swallowing nervously. “Hey Buck, can I speak to you for a sec outside?”
Confusion spread over the soldier’s face for a split second before complying and getting up from the couch with Steve as discreetly as possible as to not raise suspicion from the rest of the team and you.
“What’s up?” He asked once they’d reached the hallway outside, he didn’t know what was up with the younger man but he could easily tell that he’d been acting nervous around himself and your mom.
“Um, I have a question, you don’t have to say yes or no or anything-“
“Your ranting.”
He stopped and thought for a second, wondering how to put it. “I know it’s been complicated recently, and I know this might make it worse with all your history with (Y/M/N) and (Y/N) but I really do love both of them and since (Y/M/N)’s parents passed a while ago, there’s no one to really ask for their blessing so I guess I’m here to ask you, can I have your blessing to propose to (Y/M/N)?”
Bucky stood emotionless for a second, not knowing how to react. He wasn’t sure whether to be happy for Steve and support him or to be angry. He had both reasonable attributes for each option but was cut short when he heard the sound of a door banging against its hinges on the floor above.
Both of your dad’s eyebrows scrunched together, who was that? Everyone in the tower knew not to do it because Tony despised it, and everyone with a brain knew that when Tony got annoyed, bad things happened.
Then almost instantly after the door entering the living room revealing an awkward Loki “I’m sorry to interrupt this conversation but your daughter slash stepdaughter, just ran upstairs in tears so if you could quickly wrap this little moment up, it would be greatly appreciated”
Bucky’s heart stopped, why were you crying?
He and Steve completely forgot about their previous conversation and quickly headed upstairs, nearly running Peter over in the process coming from the toilet. But just as they reached the door where you normally stayed when you came for sleepovers, Bucky stopped and put a finger to his lips.
“I think I should go in.” Instead of arguing, and saying that it would be good ‘bonding time’ to get you to like him, Steve silently agreed and let your dad go in.
“Hey, sweetheart,” he gently closed the door behind himself, instantly catching sight of you sat on the carpeted floor, furiously wiping your eyes with the sleeve of your hoodie.
“Hey, hey, don’t hurt yourself,” he took ahold of both of your wrists and set them down on your lap, “why’re you crying doll?”
Tears continued to stream unapologetically down your cheeks, you didn’t know how to tell him. That you had snuck out of the living room to see where the two had gone and then eavesdropped into their conversation, and once hearing your stepdad (who you did not like at all) was going to become a permanent part of your life, ran off crying.
“I don’t wanna talk about it” you shook your head, making him sigh. “Please tell me, I wanna know why. You trust me right (Y/N)?”
The simple nod was all he needed, yet his heart still ached. Seeing his only daughter in tears and didn’t trust him enough to tell him why? It was heartbreaking for him. “I don’t want him to marry mom,” you quietly admitted, “the only reason I’m still allowed to see you is because she thinks I still need a father figure, so now he’s gonna be here forever I won’t be- I won’t be able to see you anymore.”
He sighed deeply, trying to find a way to comfort you. “You will, I promise. I’ll always be apart of your life doll. No one can ever take you away from me because you're my daughter and I love you so so much, m’kay?”
You sniffled and wiped the final tears from your cheeks. “Okay.”
Before you could both get up and return downstairs to finish the movie, Bucky stopped you and lifted you up to whisper something to you.
Once he had finished you pulled back and nodded hesitantly, realizing that you should put your grudge behind you and face a fear.
Your dad and you returned outside, Steve waiting patiently while resting on the wall, gently smiling at you to make sure you were okay.
“Go on doll,” Bucky quietly urged, making you take a deep breath and just go for it.
“I give you my blessing to marry mom.” Steve’s heart skipped multiple beats as his brain tried to process what you had said. You’d finally accepted him into your life?
He broke out into a grin, trying to form words to thank you without seeming like this meant the absolute world to him. “Thank you (Y/N). I appreciate it so much.”
Bucky was proud of you for taking a leap and letting Steve into your life when you were scared. He realized at that moment that even if you did have a dad and a stepdad at the same time, he’d fulfilled his role already.

Chosen Couple (Part 3)
Peter Parker x Reader (The reader is an Avenger)
Summary- Peter and you have a movie night to celebrate the school year ending, but the night takes an unexpected turn. Suddenly, you wish you had never even gone to Peter’s house in the first place.
Warnings- Pretty bad angst, but then again, it’s my first time writing it, so I am open to comments and suggestions on how to improve it.

Word Count- 2.3k
Part 1 and Part 2
Feeling your face heat up, you read the card again and again. Could it be for you? Could Peter like you back? But you got your answer quite quickly.
“What are you doing?!” Peter asked, dashing to you, webbing the box shut.
“Uh, just checking out what was in the box…” you said, crossing your fingers behind your back. “Who’s it for Peter?”
He stared at you, and for a second, you thought he was going to say your name, tell you that he liked you back, tell you that he wanted to be more than friends. But it all went down the drain, and your heart sunk to your stomach when he blurted out. “MJ!”
“MJ?” you asked, feeling pieces of your heart tear into two. Peter looked shocked at what he said, eyebrows furrowed at the slight shake in your voice. But he couldn’t take it back now, could he?
“Y-yeah...uh, I.. um, like MJ, and I told Mr Stark the other day, and he helped me buy these things for yo-her”, he said, stuttering lightly. Maybe if you had paid attention, you would have seen the slight look of desperation on his face, but you were too busy trying to keep a neutral face.
“You told Tony before you told me?” you asked randomly, trying to mask the pain in your voice.
Again, Peter looked crestfallen, looking at the ground before nodding. “You know, because MJ is your best friend, and I thought that if you knew, you might tell her and she might reject me before I even could tell her how I feel” As Peter went on with the sentence, you could see his eyes start to shine a bit, and the small ball in your throat started to grow bigger, almost choking you.
You could feel a slight tingling in your stomach and hands, meaning your powers were beginning to become stronger. It usually happened when you were angry, but now, it made sense that it showed up whenever strong feelings were blowing up your mind. Numbly nodding, you picked up the beautiful copy of the book he had gotten her, now understanding.
You weren’t the only one who liked the book. MJ loved it as well. A couple of weeks ago, you two were chatting about it in the cafeteria, laughing and joking around, and then Peter had shown up, pulling you aside to ask you what was the title of the book that had you enamoured. Well, which had MJ enchanted. Putting it back down, you gulped, forcing a smile on your face. The air was uncomfortable for a couple of minutes, neither of you saying anything. Peter kept staring at the ground while you were blinking rapidly, trying to have a weak attempt at keeping the flow of tears threatening to burst out. Just as you were about to leave from the high tension, open the door and leave, the lights flickered back one by one, the TV’s sounds filling the room again.
“Um, do you want to finish movie night?” Peter’s voice asked from behind you, making you hesitate. You had two choices. You could either go home and cry under the comfort of your bed and then rant to Nat and Wanda about your conundrum, or you could suck it up and endure few more hours of torture, knowing that the last four years of your life spent on loving you best friend would be in vain…. See, you had never taken the easy way out in anything.
So you nodded at him, not saying a word as you slowly walked back to the sofa where you were just about to confess your feelings. Not even touching the blanket, on you and Peter earlier, you pulled your feet up, hugging your knees. Peter sat from across you, reaching out his hand as he might touch you but then pulling it back. You could hardly pay attention to the movie, which was probably the sixth one.
Instead, you focused on the clock, watching the minutes tick by slowly. Second by second. You knew him long enough to see that he wasn’t paying attention either. Any time you spared him a glance, he seemed far away, glassy-eyed and lost in thought. Just as the movie was ending, Peter asked out loud, his voice sharp and brittle.
“Why are you so weird?”
Looking at him properly for the first time since you opened the box, you were speechless. Why were you weird? Maybe because you thought you and Peter were close enough to share little things like crushes. Maybe you were mad that he could trust you with his life on the battlefield but not with his high school crush. Maybe you were furious that he went to Tony for help. Maybe because you thought that he and you were closer than him and Tony. Maybe because you were angry that he couldn’t just suck it up and tell you that he liked MJ. Perhaps because you liked him like he liked MJ, and just maybe because you thought that he wanted you like he liked MJ...
But you couldn’t tell that to him, so you just said back in an emotionless voice. “I’m not weird at all. Why do you think I’m weird?”
Not expecting you to beat around the bush, he answered back, hints of a frown showing up on his face. “Well, you haven’t said anything since I told you I liked MJ. Do you have some type of problem with her?” As soon as he finished, his face contorted into a frown as if he was in pain.
Shocked that he would even ask that, you shot back. “I don’t have any problem with MJ. Hell, she is my best friend. I just want to know why you didn’t tell me about this simple secret?”
He spat, answering me back as he stood up, towering over me. “What’s your problem?! Just cause I don’t tell you about my crush? Oh, and by the way, it’s not a simple little secret. I’ve loved her for years!” His jaw clenched lightly, slowly looking you in the eyes.
Shaking your head, you stood up, now standing the same height as him. “I’m don’t have a problem with anything. I just thought that you- uh…-”, gulping softly, you gaped at him, “Peter, why are you acting like this?”
Breathing heavily now, he glared at you, hate in his eyes, mixed with something you couldn’t make out. “Why are you acting like my mother Y/N?!”
“What the hell Parker? I could’ve helped you out. We’ve always done these things together”, you said, pushing out the words. Your stomach twisted as you said you would help him, curling with envy and jealously towards MJ.
“Oh yeah? Like how you asked for my help with Brad?”
Exasperated, you threw your hands up, light lavender light starting to show from your fingertips. “What is it with you and Brad? He’s a great guy!”
“Uh-huh, and that’s why you thanked me for launching you out of that problematic date of yours, right?”
Starting to feel tired and feeling the weight of your fight beginning to fall on you, you just gazed at him, trying to figure out why his face was red. “Is it because of the movie? Or the exams?”
“Y/N, I don’t know why you can’t just-”, going to sighed, hands running through his curls. The only time you had seen him this broken was when Tony had taken away his suit and when you came with him to find the Vulture. You took a deep breath, moving back from the couch. This was the first time you and Peter had ever fought on something so minute. So irrelevant. Something so damn hard to swallow for you. Peter clicked his tongue and then called out, fire laced in his words.
“Well, maybe it is because of the movie. You keep saying that you like Harry and have spent your whole life loving him as a... character, but now, judging from your glances at the screen, Ron’s the one you want, don’t you?”His eyes narrowed into tiny slits as he spoke.
“Oh yeah, and why’s that?” you asked accusingly, folding your arms over your chest.
“I don’t know? Maybe because you just have bad taste in men!” he said, sneering at you. Not once, ever in the six years you had known Peter did you see him sneer at you. But this only fueled the anger deep within your chest.
“Well, in that case, you probably don’t even like Hermione so much. You would like someone like Ginny Weasley! You tried to stop, but you couldn’t as you went on, airing all of your problems out.
“Oh wait, and your right, I do like Ron better. It’s because Ron is tall and cute, part of sports teams and oh yeah, he gets all the girls. He has experience with a girl, and I think that’s what makes him more interesting than Harry!” you said, knowing that the topic had gone off the movie long ago.
Peter almost looked hurt for a couple of seconds as you spoke of ‘Ron’, but then he clenched his jaw, face hardening. “Well, your right then! Ginny is the perfect girl. I mean, her life is smooth and secure, with family and friends surrounding her. Not like Hermione, whose parents don’t even care about her, let alone anyone else.”
As soon as Peter finished, you could feel the anger draining out of you, replaced by a blinding pain in your chest. You could see Peter’s eyes widen in realisation, softening apologetically. Letting out a long breath, you stood up, not wanting to let him see the tears welling in your eyes. “Why would you say that?”, You asked as you let out all the pent up energy, stress and emotions you had been holding in for the evening in one go. Picking up your phone, you began walking to the door, ignoring Peter’s calls behind you.
“Y/N, I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry!” Peter said, calling out, his voice cracking towards the end. Gritting your teeth, you kept going. You were taught from a young age never to cry in public. You had kind of let that go with Peter, though. He was your best friend. You two used to talk about many things, about school, movies, family, friends. You had comforted Peter every year when his parent’s death anniversary came around. He was a shoulder to cry on when being an Avenger became just too much for you. But you had never cried because of Peter. Never but none because of your fight.
Oh, and coincidentally, that little piece of advice was given by your parents. Your parents who...left you. Almost forgot about you. Feeling a fresh new set of emotions burst through your mouth. Whirling backwards, you stared at Peter. He was standing in the middle of the hallway, almost hunched over under your vision. He glanced up at you, eyes bloodshot. “I’m sorry”, he whispered helplessly.
Dark purple light started emerging from you, making your hair stand up. You could feel your heartbeat get faster as you pushed out every last bit of hatred you could muster. Peter’s face was now reflecting the violet light, lip quivering ever so slightly.
“Why would you use my parents? You know how I-” Feeling a sob jump out of your throat, you collapsed on the floor, the purple ring around you flashing out before the apartment became as dark as before. Just as you fell, you felt Peter run over to you; arm’s circling you. You could feel his hair tickling your neck as he bought you closer.
“I didn’t mean it. Please…”, Peter said, holding you tight as his embrace. Wondering if you should push him back, you couldn’t be bothered. Instead, you hugged him back, letting yourself melt into him. You don’t know how long you stayed in that position, huddled near the door, both you and Peter trying to figure things out.
But at some point, when you were sure that you could stand up without becoming a bumbling mess of tears, you pulled away. Peter looked at you, eyes rimmed with red, cheeks puffy with his curls a mess. Sniffing, you stand up, not saying anything as you turn away, opening the door softly and looking back at him, your gaze diverting to the black box.
“Go give it to her Pete. I’m sure she would love it.”
And with that, you walked out the door, into the dark night, rain pelting on your head, but truthfully, you couldn’t care less at this point.
Damn, and I thought this would be a fun, fluffy piece, but it turned into something a bit more… Well, anyway, let’s see what happens next. Will Peter give MJ the box? Will Y/N ever even talk to Peter and MJ? Check it out in a few days when I put out the next part. Also, if you made it this far, maybe follow me to see some more short series and stories about our favourite spider boy :)

Protecting The Heart (Rewritten)
Paring: Peter Parker x Reader
Word Count: 8.7K
Summary: (Y/n)’s new friend seems fishy, especially since girls’ hearts are being taken. Will Peter and the Avenger save (Y/n) from heartbreak? Literally!
Warnings: Poorly written fight scenes, Idea from Monster High, Swearing, mentions of Sex.
Happy Valentines day!
"Wait, wait wait..." Peter waved a hand to stop you from continuing, "You're telling me this 'old friend' of yours wanted to hang out with you after the world discovered you were an avenger?" You gave him a shrug as you two wait for the meeting to start.
"I mean...yeah?I know it sounds weird but I haven't seen him since I was ten." You looked away for a second, "He was my best friend growing up." Peter frowned as he knew what that meant. You were that loner in class, no friends, no one to talk to....until Peter came into your life. He opened his mouth to say something but then...
“Oh ‘Best Friend’ Sorry Pete you’ve been replaced,” Tony stated as he entered the room, also entering the conversation. everyone turned to look at you and Peter. You quickly turn to look over at him with a smirk.
“If anything Pete replaced him.” You nudged Peter’s shoulder while he just rolled his eyes, “Are you mad? if so, don’t be me and you are way closer than me and Arther ever been.” You gave him your smile he thought was just adorable, you thought the same thing about his smile.
"You two are inseparable," Nat smirked as she took a sip of her drink. You gave her a look Peter couldn't describe and certainly didn't know what it meant.
“Hopefully the guys not mad might get revenge on Parker,” Sam smirked at Peter as you scoffed at that. Arther was the nicest guy ever…Even if he never tried to reach out to you until you became an official Avenger.
“Arther not like that,”
“You don’t know, You haven’t seen since you were ten? Six years can change someone.” Sam warned, making you roll your eyes and pout a little. Arther was your best friend, your only friend for a while there. That had to make him a good person, not judging you before meeting you.
"Let's just start the meeting." You murmur as you try hiding your face. Peter frowned and intertwined his fingers with yours making you smile.
"Okay crew, We were sent about this case that seems below our paid rite if you ask me." Tony started standing in front of a projection, "F.R.I.D.A.Y can you do the honors?"
"Yes, Boss.”
You listened to the A.I with a bored expression, it’s the same thing. Pictures came on screen making your eyes wide and sit up straighter as you stare in horror.
“14 Teenage girls were found dead in their homes.” Everyone stared at the screen where they showed some of the crime scenes, “The bodies are only missing one thing, their hearts.” your eyes widen even more at that, “All the bodies were found in their own houses, no sign of struggle or breaking and entering.” The next thing F.R.I.D.A.Y says making your heart race, "All the girls are in the age range 15-18 in this area.“ You didn’t fail to notice everyone’s eyes move over to you.
"Any leads?" Steve wondered as more and more pictures are shown on the screen of the girls.
"There are no leads."
"No leads, no evidence?” You mumbled before looking over at Peter, who was looking down in thought.
“That’s impossible. There’s no way you can’t leave evidence at a crime scene.” Peter spoke up before leaning his head on his hand, “This makes no sense,”
"I’m pretty sure people have left crime scenes without making evidence.“ You leaned back in your seats while in deep thought.
"Technically, no. You can’t have a crime scene without evidence. Practically, yes. You can have a crime scene without evidence.” Tony explained to you all, making you all look at him confused.
"So, no struggle or breaking and entering?" You looked at the screen seeing the girl's bodies with a hole in their chest, making you shutter, "T-That can't be right."
“ We'll figure that out later." Nat spoke up, "Me, Steve, and Tony will go to some of the crime scenes.” She looked over at Steve and Tony, "Sam and Bucky you go talk to the girl’s parents…“ You stopped listening to her as you thought of the girls, having their hearts ripped out sounded extremely painful. You hated that you couldn’t have helped them in time.
” Peter, you will continue to do your patrols but keep an eye out for anything suspicious.“ You frowned as you looked at Nat, she was stoned-face, like she usually was.
"Nat, what about me?" you question as she turned and look at you. You and Nat became close friends right as you joined the avengers. Nat seemed to think for a moment before speaking up.
"...You will join Peter-"
"What!?"
"Nat you can't be serious."
"She's a target!" Nat raised a hand to silence the crowd.
"You will join Peter but if anything serious happens you will stay in the tower where it's safe. Alright." You looked at her and she had a look you knew she was right. You hesitantly nodded as she gives you a tiny smile, "Alright team, head out."
Who made her in charge?”
“Yea, I though I was the leader.” Steven frowned.
~~
"Pete, C'mon let me go." You grunted as you tried to walk. It was hard since Peter was acting like a koala and hugging you tightly, not letting you go, "I have plans!"
"Cancel them!" Peter yelled tucking his face in your neck, "It’s dangerous out there! You could be hurt.”
"Is it about those girls? Pete, I have training I'll be fine!" You tried to argue but Peter started putting more of his weight on you, making you fall.
"Pete."
"Hmm?"
"We're on the floor now." You tried crossing your arms but Peter tightened his arms around you and now it kinda hurts. Peter didn't seem to care you guys were on the floor since he snuggled his face into your hair. You closed your eyes with a sigh as you messed with his curls.
"And then I said- Why in hell are you two on the floor!?" Sam asked as he and Bucky entered in the living room to see you two on the floor.
"Pete's being a baby and isn't letting me go meet up with Arthur." You explained as you stare up at the two men standing above you.
"Oh, makes sense." they shrugged and walked over to sit on the couch, completely ignoring you two on the floor.
"What!? No! Help me! Pete!" You yelled as you started to struggle in Peter's arms, which honestly didn't do anything for you since he's supa strong.
"Outta Luck, (L/n)," Bucky smirks as he sits back and watched some dumb movie. You groaned loudly as you finally stop struggling.
"You guys suck!"
"We know."
"Yep."
You sat there for a moment staring at the ceiling thinking about how you could get out. You looked over at Peter to see his eyes were closed and face tucked into your neck, breath tickling your neck. Your wide widen as an idea came into your head.
"...you can come with me. If it makes you feel better." You watched for his reaction, He opened his eyes and looked at you confused, "You can come with me to meet Arthur. I’m sure he won’t mind.” You shrugged as you looked back up at Peter, who was thinking the idea over.
"W-would you mind?" Came his shy voice making you smile a little. Peter was always kind and never wanted you to feel uncomfortable, which you loved.
"Of course, I don't want you worrying all day." You brushed your hand through his curls, making him sigh contently, "Even if everything would be okay."
"You don't know that, (Y/n)." peter frowned as he stared into your eyes, "It took us until 14 girls to realize this man is out there. He knows what he's doing." You frowned as you realized he's right.
"That's why I want you to come with." You look down at him and gives him a sweet smile, "To protect me if anything happens." Peter smiled and snuggled into your again and sighed contently when you messaged his temple.
"Yeah sounds great." His smile got bigger as you hummed a tune he knew you listened to a lot in your room. He could of stayed like that forever but it all ended when you spoke up.
"uhh, Pete, we're gonna be late if we don't leave now." Peter sighed softly as he slowly uncurled himself from you and stood up, helping you up, "Thanks, now let's go." You linked your arm through his as you two walked out of the tower, Sam and Bucky watching.
“There’s gonna be a fight.”
~~
“(Y/n)!” You looked over at a teenage boy waving over at you, you looked at the boy confused. The boy has short dyed black hair, green pricing eyes and he is wearing a fancy shirt for being in a small town cafe.
“Do you know him?” Peter asks as he takes your hand and told it tight. You didn't bother to take your hand away from his since you know Peter is not letting go.
"I... don't know." You tilted your head as you got a good look at him, "He doesn't look familiar at all! Not even a little." You explained causing Peter to tighten his hold on your hand.
“(Y/n), it’s me, Arthur!” Your eyes met his and you imminently recognized him. He always had those green eyes You smile and wave at him, You drag Peter over at the table as you both sat down.
"Arthur, That's you? You look so different." Maybe it was just your memories messing up but he looked so different. You smile as you put two hands on the table.
"It's me darlin', You haven't changed a bit." He smiles at you but this smile wasn't like Peter's. Peter's smile was cute and calming making you feel safe while Arthur’s was bone-chilling and seemed more like a smirk, "Who's your friend." Arthur frowned as he looked at Peter. You put a hand on Peter's shoulder as you explain.
“This is Peter Parker, he’s my really good friend. He’s one of Tony Stark’s interns. That’s how we met." That, That was a lie. You two meet way before his internship and right after Arthur left school. Peter sent you a look trying not to show his confusion.
“Tony Stark, That’s mighty impressive.” he lean his chin on his hands as he smirks, “What do you do there, Peter?” Peter frowns and tries to reach for your hand as his Peter tingle screeched 'Danger’ at him. Your hands were on the table and he didn't want to be a bother, He already forced himself here.
“Oh, you know…” He laughs nervously, “Bring him his coffee, helps him with his inventions sometimes…The normal intern stuff.” He looked over at you with panicked eyes which you did notice and subtly nodded his way.
“Ain’t that interesting,” Arthur smirked at Peter before looking over at you. He gave you a look that when you two were little would make your heart melt but now you felt nothing. You gave him a smile as Peter watched your interaction.
'Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger!'
“So Arthur, How are you? Are you doing anything?” You moved the topic away from Peter and the Stark internship. You smiled at him, wanting to know more about him.
“I’m doing just fine, darlin'. Thank you for asking." He gently took your hand and placed a gentle kiss on your knuckle with that same cocky smirk, “I’ve been moving School to School recently.”
"Wait? Really? is that why you left years ago?" You leaned forward as you question him. You were devastated when he just left without a word. You always wondered what happened to him.
“Afraid so, None of the places really captivated me.” You and Peter share a confused glance before looking back at Arthur, “But this place is just lovely.”
“It’s New York," Peter spoke up looking around the small cafe you three were in. New York was nice but the people here could be... uh not nice.
"And I’ve always wanted to live in New York.” Arthur quickly shuts Peter down, sending him a look that made his senses scream, “And then I discovered that you lived here, darling.” Arthur took a hold of your hand, Peter's sense screamed, “And I was over the moon!"
"Oh, I’m not that great.” You laugh gently and took your hand away from Arthur’s, “I bore people really easily."
"That’s not true, (Y/n).” Peter spoke up, making both you and Arther look at him, “You are amazing to be around! Your fun, smart and weirdly obsessed about TikTok."
"They're funny and you know it!”
“Don’t forget that you are beautiful, darling. Oh, I have something for you.” He handed you some flowers. You looked at them in shock as you felt a weird feeling.
“Oh, Thank you, Arthur.” You give him a fake smile as you place it gently behind you, “They beautiful." You noticed a small note in the flowers.
"Like you, There's a little poem a wrote for you In there.” You nodded at him with a tight smile. You didn't think about it when Arthur puts on some sunglasses and frowned deeply at you.
"I would have gotten more but I was so excited to see you again I couldn't wait." Arthur leaned forward a bit, completely ignoring Peter as you and Arthur stare at each other.
There was something about his eyes that made you stare at them. You didn't even notice when yours and Peter's phones went off at the same time. It was when Peter shook your shoulders did you look away.
"(Y/n), it's work. we gotta go." Peter explained making you nod toward him. You put a hand on your forehead before shaking it lightly, you feel lightheaded for some reason."
“Hey, Sorry Arthur.” You pointed behind you, “We both got to go, See you later?"
"Of course, Darlin'. I’ll see you real soon.” He smirked which made you shiver as he gently took your hand and put a kiss on it.
“Bye Arthur.” You stood up, took Peter’s hand, and left the cafe. Arthur's eyes never left your figure as you two walked down the streets toward the Avengers tower.
~~
“You don’t like him, Do you?” You ask as you and Peter sat on a roof, looking for any crime. You wore your super-suit while Peter was in his Spider-suit. You kick your feet out as you waited for his answer.
“…Did he seem weird to you?” He avoided the question, he didn’t want to answer your question, which answered your question.
“Well, He’s always been… a little weird.” You sighed as you kick your foot a little more, “but…” You quickly shook your head and layed down to look at the stars.
“But?"
"But… He kinda made me uncomfortable,” you confessed as you avoided Peter’s eyes to look at the stars. What made you uncomfortable was it seemed like he wanted one thing from you.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Peter asks in a soft voice, making you look over at him. You let out a sigh as he layed down next to you and you both stared at the sky.
“It’s just… he never reached out to me before I became an Avenger and I didn’t really mind. It’s just when he started giving me flowers acting all romantic toward me. I just don’t like him like that anymore and we literally just got back in touch.” You knew Peter was looking at you through his mask but you continued, “As I said earlier, We were never really that close.”
“Why don’t you tell him to stop?” Peter asks you making you let out a long sigh.
“I will don’t worry. I’m just in a mood. I’m just worried about the girls.” Peter gave you a nod as you continues, “Having their hearts ripped out, must be so painful I can’t even imagine.” You felt tears sting your eyes. You felt a hand touch your shoulder and you look over at Peter.
“Hey, Don’t worry. We’ll find the person who did this.” Peter gently pulled off his mask to show you his face, he knows how much just seeing his face calms you down, “You’ll be fine.”
“I’m not worried about me! I’m worried for other girls out there.” you looked over at Peter and gave him a look, “I just want people to be safe. Like how I was.” You avoided Peters’s gaze as you turned your head away from him. You suddenly felt a gloved hand on your chin and Peter moved your head to face him as he gave you an adorable smile
“Don’t worry you will, (Y/n).” He gave you another smile that made you smile. You look away for a moment before leaning in and giving him a peck on the lips and quickly pulling away.
Peter stares at you for a moment before cupping your cheeks, giving you a soft gentle kiss on the lips. You smile into the kiss as you return the kiss. It was gentle and full of love, Love that made you so happy you met Peter Parker. You two pulled away but kept your foreheads touching.
“How was that?” Peter shyly asks, trying to catch his breath. You let out a soft laugh as you gently pinch one of his rosy cheeks
“Perfect."
"Peter, there’s a bank robbery far east from here,” Karen explains to him, not realizing she's kinda ruining an important moment.
“Duty calls.” You giggle before placing a kiss on his nose. You stand up and jumps off the building and making a portal to the crime scene.
Leaving Peter watching you with a daze smiley look before shaking his head and putting his mask off and chases after you.
~~
“You learn anything new from the case?” you entered the kitchen to see the group. Peter had his arm around your waist. Ever since last night, you weren’t willing to let go of each other.
“No, there’s nothing at the crime scene. No fingerprints, no bloostains-” Steve started, looking over at Nat as he explains. He had bags under his eyes showing he wasn't sleeping.
“Surprising."
”- No nothing! We found nothing!“
"How… How are the bodies?” Peter spoke up quietly, not wanting to upset you but this was something you all needed to know. especially since you could be a target.
“The only thing found was a hole in their chest, where the heart was.” Nat sighed not looking at any of you, “Sam and Bucky are starting to interview the parents. Hopefully, they’ll find something.”
“They will don’t worry.” You detached yourself from Peter and walked over to Nat, putting a hand on her shoulder, “We’ll find them. We always do.” You finished with a smile making Nat look you.
“So, You and Parker?” She smirks, You blush as you smile giddily at her with a quick nod of your head, “Guess that old friend of yours wasn’t that fun, huh?”
“He was… Eh."
"Eh, That bad huh?” Nat took a sip of her drink with a raised brow.
“He wasn’t bad it’s just he was being all romantic like he were in a novel.” You sigh dramatically, "Two lovers torn apart but they find a way to each other and live happily ever after blah blah blah.“
"You know what he wants right?” Nat asks you as you look up at her sighing and nodding.
“Yeah, Yeah, I do.” you look down sadly, “I really wanted to be his friend again but I guess that’s not what he wants from me."
"Who cares? You’re a badass Avenger who can handle herself. You should be proud and happy, Your finally with Peter. Everyone knows you two wanted that for a while now.” You let out a laugh at that.
“Yea, I really did.” You look over at Peter, who was suddenly on the ceiling because of peppermint, “I’m really lucky.” You gave him a soft smile which Peter noticed and gave one back.
~~
“Hey Arthur, Can we talk?” You walked over to Arthur, you two stood in a soccer field at an old park. There weren't that many people around you surprisingly.
“Of course, Darling. I got you something,” He pulled out a necklace that looked really pretty, some force was raising your arm to take it but you forced it down, coughing.
“That’s why I'm here to talk.” He paused looking confused, like this never happened before, “The gifts and things are nice and all but it makes me uncomfortable. I don't think of you like that.” Arthur looked at you for a moment before his face hardens, making you panic, “We can still hang out! I just want you to know.” You wave your hands in the air, not trying to be mean.
"It's that boy, isn't it?"
“What?”
“Parker? His name was I'm assuming I didn't care enough to remember.” He shrugged walked closer to You, you kept a brave face as he leaned down, "You know, I was surprised when I saw you walking into that little old cafe holding some random boy hand."
“Dude, This isn't really your business." You put a hand on his shoulder and pushed him away gently as you try walking past him, "I don't owe you anything! Goodbye Arthur." A hand gripped your wrist, making you stop walking.
"But it is my business.” He pulled you back and pinned you to a tree, making you look at him, “Your love-life is my business. Which is why I know it’s Parker.” You glare at him as he takes his hand off your chin.
“What are you talking about?” You look at him with a glare before rolling your eyes, “Let me guess you want one thing from me. I wonder if I can guess what it is.” you made a motion with your hands before Arthur pins them again, making your roll your eyes.
“I do want something from you but it’s not what your thinking.” You look up at him confused as he takes his sunglasses off showing his piercing green eyes, “I want your heart.” Your eyes widen as your blood runs cold, “But I kinda like your suggestion. I think I just might do that too."
"Get off of me." You growl lowly, Arthur looks at you almost smugly.
"What was that Darlin'?"
"Get off of me!" You yelled as you kicked him in the stomach, pushing him off of you. He stumbled a bit before standing up straight and staring at you almost bored, "You kill those girls!"
“Killer? Now I’m offended, I don’t kill them.” He starts to walk over to you, you held up your fist ready to fight, “No need for a fight. I’m not going to hurt you.”
"I bet you said that to those girls!" You lunged at him making both of you fall as you punch him, over and over again, "14! That's how many girls were hurt because of you!"
"And I only got caught now." He smirks at you, making you see red. You pull out some handcuffs and cuffs his wrists before standing up and taking a couple of steps away, "and what are you going to do with me?" You scoffed as you crossed your arms.
“I’m bringing you to Avengers tower to bring you in. So, you won’t hurt any other poor girl, You heartless-fuck!” You raised an arm and opened a portal to your room in the Avengers tower. You walk over and picks him up walking toward the portal.
“Wait!” He yelled making you stop and look at him, “Can you do one last thing for me, darling?"
"Hell no, after everything you don't get anything." You growl before you felt him grab your wrist, making you glance at him. You did a double-take as you notice the handcuffs were off.
"H-How?" You shuddered as he stood up and walked toward you with a smirk. Once again you couldn't look away from his green eyes, just like the cafe.
"You think you're the only girl that caught on?" He chuckled as your back met a tree, "dated an officer's daughter, That was a challenge." He suddenly grabbed both of your wrists and pinned them to the tree and leaned closer to you, "But you're much more of a challenge, Darlin'."
His eyes started glowing pink before you felt your cheeks heat up while your heart started beating faster. It got worst as you tried looking away but Arthur cupped your cheek, making you stare at him.
“I will have your heart, darling. It’s too special not to.” You tried shaking your head as you tried...Wait, why were you struggling? Arthur’s your friend, he wouldn't do anything bad. You gave a small smile as you leaned into his hand, making him smirk.
"There you go, (Y/n). Just give in, I'll make you feel loved." That was the last thing he said to you. You stare up at your best friend with a smile, eyes glowing pink. You let out a small giggle that Arthur smirked at.
~~
“(Y/n), (Y/n), Where are you!? (Y/N)!” Peter howled as he walked the streets of New York, people gave him weird looks but he didn’t care. Ever since you left that morning his Peter Tingle has been going crazy. He knew it had something to do with you. he shook his head as he tried not to think about what could have happened to you.
'Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger!'
He sighed before he saw a glance of your (H/c) leaving a shopping store and entering an ice cream shop.
"(Y/n)!" He ran inside the shop and looks around for you. It was until he saw you and Arthur sitting down on a booth. He started walking toward you two. As he did, his senses were screaming at him louder and louder.
'Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger!'
“(Y/n), where have you been!? I’ve been looking all over for you?” Peter scolded but froze when he saw you. You were holding onto Arthur's arm as you leaned into him. You looked up at Peter but showed no emotion what-so-ever. Usually, when you saw him you screamed a hello at him, no matter where you were, "(Y/n)?"
You looked at him a little bit more before looking at Arthur with a confused glance. Peter frowned as he looks at your appearance, You were more dresses up than usual and even wore a necklace he never saw before. When you looked back at him He noticed your eyes were blank, something he was no used to.
“Can I Help you, sir?” Arthur answered for you, something you hated. Peter frowned as you didn't look mad you actually looked relieved, he also wondered why Arthur was wearing sunglasses, inside a building.
“I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to (Y/n)!” Peter snapped taking a hold of your shoulder, shaking you a bit, “(Y/n), The Avengers are worried about you. You haven't been answering my text, you're worrying us.” You tilt your head in confusion at him.
“I’m sorry, I’ve just been having the time of my life with Arthur.” You giggled as you laid your head on Arthur's head, making him smirk at Peter. Your voice sounded off as you ran your hands on his chest, “I just lost track of time.” Peter watched you with a frown, weren't you two together?
“What’s up with you?” Peter asks, hurt clear on his face. He really thought you two were together, yeah you never said you were but he kinda thought since, "This isn't like you." he shook his head.
"No idea what you're talking about." You didn't even look at him. Peter frowned as you waved your hand away, "We'll talk later, I'll be home later."
"How late?"
"Later." You finally looked at him and held a look that made him nod and walk away. He frowned as he thought before something confused him. Why were your eyes pink?
~~
"No, she was acting so weird!" Peter ranted as he paced around the living room. He was calling Ned through F.R.I.D.A.Y no realizing the Avengers were also in the room, listening, "She wasn't even looking at me. I-I really thought..."
"Peter, maybe she's just cuddly with him. They were friends before you two were." Ned says softly, not wanting his friend to be hurt, "She never said you two broke up."
"We were never together. We just kissed and cuddled." Peter explained softly, falling into the couch and covering his eyes, "I just assumed we were together but I guess not."
"Ask her if she gets back." Ned suggested, "she said you'll talk when she gets back so talk."
"Okay..."
"Okay, I gotta go my mom's calling me. See you at school." Ned hung up leaving Peter sitting on the couch in pain. The Avengers all look at each other before going back to the case, but still listening in.
"I'm home." You called as you carried bags on clothes, flowers braided into your hair, "Hey..." You murmur as you try walking past him but Peter quickly walked in front of you cornering you.
"Can you move, please? I gotta get to my room." You smiled as you tried walking past him but Peter grabbed your wrist gently, making you stop and stare at him.
"(Y/n), we gotta talk," Peter says making you stare at him before shrugging and sitting down on the couch. Peter stares at you for a moment before sitting next to you.
"What do you want to talk about." You asked softly as you stare at him confused. Peter stared at you for a moment before sighing and deciding to just man up.
"What's going on with you and Arthur?" He questioned causing the Avengers to sit up and stare at you two unnoticed.
"What? You don't know?" You laughed slightly causing Peter to fear what you are going to tell him, "We're dating, it's official." You stood up and clapped excitedly, Peter's heart broke. The Avengers stare at you in shock before starting at each other.
"No... that can't be true," Peter spoke up making you turn to look at him confused, "(Y/n) you are not acting like yourself. You can tell me if something happened." You stare at him like he was crazy.
"Nothing going on! If anything, I feel better than ever!" You giggle as you sigh dreamily, "Arthur bought me this dress and others. But this one is my favorite so I wore it just for him, He loved it so much."
"Something is wrong!" Peter stood up and grabbed your shoulders, shaking you a bit.
"What do you mean? Nothing is wrong." You walked out of Peter grip and put your hand on your hips, you looks at him confused as he got angry, "Why are you so angry?"
“You just don’t kiss people for fun! You don’t kiss someone just to throw them away the next day and run away off to someone you didn’t talk to in 6 years.” Peter snapped as he stared at you you frowned as you stare at him confused.
"Peter, we never kissed." You started softly, making Peter's heartbreak even more, "I have no idea what you're talking about." Peter stared at you as you looked at him confused. His heart broke as you never called him Peter you only called him Pete.
“You're not making any sense!"
"I don't know what you tell you." You put a hand on your chest offended, "We never kissed, I don't want to make you upset but we're partners but that's all." The worst part of this was that you weren't yelling you were being sincere with him.
Peter frowned as he turned his back to you, he stared one last glance at You. He looked into your strangely blank eyes and he swore he saw that they were still pink instead of your normal eye color. Your face softens as you reach for him.
"Pete..." Your eyes glowed pink as your face hardens as you storm to your room. Peter sat on the couch and tried to calm himself down, the Avengers stared at him before Nat stands up.
"I'll talk to her."
~~
"(Y/n)," Nat spoke firmly when she opened your door, You changed into your pajamas. Your shoulders tense before you slowly turned to face her with a blank face, "What was that?" She took steps toward you.
"Whatever are you talking about?" You gave her a look and she gave one right back at you. Nat studied your face for a moment, it was blank and your voice sounded flat.
...unusual.
"(Y/n), You know what I'm talking about. Don't try to lie to me, you know how I am." Nat frowned at you as you continue to stare at her, "You really hurt Peter, I don't know what's been going on but..."
"Pete?" You tilt your head in confusion as you stare at her. Your eyes glowed bright pink as you stared at her, Nat narrowed her eyes as she memorized the pink.
"Peter Parker, your teammate, ring a bell?" Your eyes move around the room as you think, you seem to be confused, "The teammate you just had a nasty fight with?" You move your head up, confused.
"Fight? I didn't have a fight recently..." You bite your finger as you think, "Come to think of it... I don't know an Peter Parker." Nat's eyes narrowed as she took a step toward you.
"Who's your best friend?"
"My best friend?" you chuckled, "My best friend is Arthur, well now he's my boyfriend. I've been waiting for ages for this." You gushed as you giggle lightly, Nat notes mentally that your eyes are glowing a brighter pink.
"How long have you been friends for?" Nat questioned, It sounds like your memories have been affected but she needed to know much more. If she was correct then you were in deep trouble.
"We've been friends since diapers. Gosh, I can't believe it's been like 8 years since we met!" you clapped as you jumped a bit, making Nat frown as she thinks.
8 years? Nat clearly remembers you saying you haven't seen him in 6 years. She looks up to see you tapping away at your phone, You looked up when you felt her eyes.
"Sorry, it's Arthur. We have a date tomorrow." You chuckle sheepishly as you rub the back of your neck. Nat glared at the phone for a moment before smiling.
"Don't worry, (N/n). Enjoy your date." And before you could say anything, Nat left. You watched your doorway, your eyes fading to your regular eye color before your phone went off, eyes returning pink.
"Hey, Baby..."
~~
"Something is clearly wrong with (Y/n)," Nat explains as she sits down at the table. the others all looked up from their research, Sam, and Bucky explaining what they found.
"Nat, now's not really the right time..." Steve motioned toward Peter who was eating a buttload of cereal. Nat stared at Peter with a look of sympathy before looking at Steve
"She's next." which caused everyone to sit up straight.
"What do you mean she's next?" Steve asks causing Natasha to give him a look before sitting down and staring at the papers scattered around.
"Well, it seems that (Y/n) has never met a Peter Parker in her life." That caused Peter to look at her as she continued, "She claims her best friend of 8 years is that Arthur guy that she hasn't seen in 6 years. How long has she been acting like this?" She asked looking over at Peter who seemed to be thinking.
"Uhh since she left this morning." Nat looked at him thinking before grabbing a paper and inspecting it.
"And who was she with?"
"uh, I don't know this morning but when I found her she was with Arthur," Peter explained as he started to connect the dots. He could have slapped himself, how could he be so stupid!? He was support to Protect you!
"Has her eyes been different lately." She looked around the table as they thought about it.
"I haven' really looked at her eyes."
"How the fuck would I know?"
"...Sam."
"Yea," Peter started causing them to look at him, "I thought I was going crazy but I swear her eyes has been turning pink or something?" his shoulders sagged as his guilt started eating him up, "I didn't think about it."
"She's next." Natasha frowned as she glared at the papers from the Parents of the girls who were attacked, "It seems like this was one person doing. Anyone wanna guess who?"
"Arthur..." Peter practically growled making Sam and Steve stared at him, Nat nodded gravely as she puts the papers down on the table, "That sneaky son of..."
"Language!"
"Okay, I have a plan but we need Wanda." Peter looked at her confused, Wanda? yea he heard of her but how can she help them? Sam and Steve seem to understand what Natasha meant by that, "And we need it to happen soon."
"Anyone has a way to contact Wanda?" Natasha looks at the two males in front of her, Ignoring Peter's. Sam shrugged while Steve looked a little nervous, it was until they heard footsteps coming.
"What do you mean you have something special for me tomorrow?" Your voice rang through the halls, making them all snap their attention on you as you ignored them, "Aw, Arthur you shouldn't have! I can't wait!"
Peter frown deepens as he watched you closely, something special? His eyes widen as he realizes what that meant for you as you were oblivious to your fate.
"I wish I could do something for you." You paused listening to Arthur’s answer.
"How about a gala?" Nat spoke up making you look over at her confused, "Tony's having a gala tomorrow and I think that could be fun." You looked over at her before beaming.
"We're having a gala tomorrow?" Peter asks as he was completely ingored.
"You hear that babe!?" Babe? Peter wanted to throw up, "C'mon it could be fun and you could still show me your surprise." There was a pause before your frowned, "What no?...oka-" You were cut off as suddenly Natasha took your phone and held it to her ear.
"Hello, Arthur? Yes, it's Black Widow listen you are being invited to Tony Stark’s gala how could you not want to go?" Nat's face was blank as she listened to his response, "Romantic? You want it to be Romantic who do you think people go to galas? For fun? No, it's to be nice to their partner. If you don't go your missing a chance of a lifetime." There was a long pause before Natasha smirks, "Okay, Nice doing business with you."
"Thank you, Nat." You smile as you held onto your phone before placing it to your ear, "I can't wait! We need to plan what to wear..." your voice faded as you left for your room.
"....That sucked." Peter pouted as took another bite of his food. Nat looked serious as she looks at the group again.
"We need Wanda here by tomorrow. Tell Tony what's happening." Sam and Steve nodded as they both went in different directions. Peter watched them leave with a confused frown.
"Peter." Nat knelt to watch Peter, "We need you there tomorrow to help, and don't worry, We'll get (Y/n) back." Natasha patted his back before standing up and getting ready for a gala.
~~
"This still sucks." Peter huffed crossing his arms as he watched you in your stunning dress walking with Arthur. Arthur smirked as you clung to his arm.
"I know Pete, I can't believe how weirdly dresses he is." Tony raised a brow before taking a sip of his drink. Nat rolled her eyes when she walked over with Wanda, who looked confused.
"I'm sorry what's going on?" she asked looking around the group, waiting for an answer. Peter made the mistake of looking back at you to see Arthur dipping your down in a dance he slammed his eyes shut.
"That case that we got assained, we know who it is and who's next," Natasha explains to Wanda before subtly motioning toward you and Arthur. Wanda looks over at you and Arthur with red eyes for a moment before her eyes widening, "What did you see?"
"We need to return her memories now." She explains before turning her back to Arthur and whispers, "He's close to ....finishing his mission."
"Which is?"
"When he controls the girls he can see how much love they have for him in their hearts." She starts, voice quiet and grim, "Once their heart is full of love for him he steals it and turns it into his own personal trophy. (Y/n)'s heart is to complete his collection." No one said anything for a good while.
"What!?" Peter yelled causing the others to shush him, "How the hell do you make a heart a trophy!?" He raised a hand to grip and pull at his hair, something he does when he's nervous.
"He finds a way." was Wanda's only response before Steve speaks up.
"So what can we do?" Wanda looks at Steve for a moment before turning to Peter and nudging him.
"I have an idea but I'll need your help, Peter." Wanda gives him a smile as Peter looks at her like she was crazy, which is a possibility.
"Why do you need my help?" Peter asked which made Wanda smile at him.
"You'll see."
~~
"Hey um, (Y/n)?" You hear a voice say, you turn around slowly to see that boy standing there. What was his name again Pablo? Pedro? Patrick?, "Can we talk?" You tilted your head slightly in confusion.
"Um-"
"Can't you see we're dancing here?" Arthur cut you off and practically growling at the boy in front of you. He held your hands tightly and held them to his chest, you just stared at the boy, "She made her choice, you see? I don't even see why you try?" He chuckled darkly, "A boy like you could never make a girl like (Y/n) happy." the boy just frowned before shaking his head before pressing a hand to his ear.
That's when everything around you went dark, the boy...Preston? No not now! the boy and Arthur are both gone. You looked around to see a playground? That..that's not what you expected but you continued to look around.
You stopped when you saw a little girl, oh wait she was you. It was you when you were little, you were laughing and playing with a younger Arthur you smiled at no matter how much change you can always count on Arthur. You walked closer to hear the conversation that was happening.
"You're moving? Well..." You frowned, Arthur never moved away? She paused for a moment before smiling happily at Arthur, "That's okay, we'll...we'll have our mommy's talk. We would still be able to see each other!" You smiled as she held his hands and intertwined their fingers. Arthur looked at their fingers before shaking his head.
"I'm sorry (Y/n) but no, we can't talk." What? No, no this is when you convince him to stay or something because he never moved away. Maybe he moved for like a year but most he must have came back, "We can't talk when I'm away but I'll come back for you."
"Why can't we talk when you're gone?" she pouted as you watch closely Arthur stared at your younger self's face before smirking lightly and cupping your cheek.
"You're right, we should talk. Every Saturday we'll talk and it'll be like I never left." She smiled and hugged Arthur tightly as he hugged her back. You smiled to yourself, that's how you stayed in touch when he was apparently gone.
"It's all coming together." You nodded to yourself and went to walk off, find a way out of here. You stopped as you noticed something and stopped and watched with a frown.
It was you sitting on your mother's kitchen counter, the clock says 9:45 AM. You were sitting on the counter next to the kitchen phone, kicking your feet with a smile. You watched as the clock turned to 3:12 PM and you made a tiny portal and was barely able to jump through to the other side of the room before staring at the phone.
Suddenly It was nighttime and You were holding the phone to your ear pressing random numbers as the clock read 1:30 AM. Your younger self was crying before someone came in.
Your eyes widen as you stared at your mother in the doorway, you haven't seen her since...since...
"(Y/n)? What are you doing up still?" Your mother asks as she takes the phone away from you and where it belongs. You walked closer to her, you felt the need to see her again, hug her again.
"A-Arthur hasn't called me. He said he w-would call me every Saturday." Your younger self sniffled before your mother took her in her arms and hugging the life out of her, "I-I thought he wanted to-to see me again."
"oh, (Y/n), I'm so sorry." Your mother's voice dropped in a whisper, "I'm so sorry." You stood there not knowing one she was apologizing for.
The world moved around you to see you walking through school by yourself, friendless. You watched as you walked into school every day with no friends, people avoiding you and talking behind your back. You watched as your younger self would cry to herself alone, you watched as your life reached a low when you lost your mother. You watched yourself falling deeper until something happened one day.
"Watch out!" A voice called before you watched as your younger self jumped into someone. You walked closer to see it was...it was that boy from the party! well, he was younger but it was still him. Awe, he wore glasses and they looked huge on him.
"I am so sorry, I didn't see you there! I should have been watching where I was going it's my fault I am so sor-" The boy rambled before getting cut off by your laugh.
"No, no, it's fine. I wasn't watching either." You looked down to see your papers all over the place, you knelt down to pick them up and smiled when you saw the boy was doing the same thing. When you both got all the papers the boy handed you the papers and you held out your hand with a smile, "Hi, my name is (Y/n) (L/n)." The boy stared at your hand for a moment before shaking your hand with a shy smile.
"Peter Parker, n-nice to meet you." Your younger self smiled as you took a moment to drop his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Peter Parker. I feel like we'll be great friends." the people in front of you drifted away as you stood there in shock. Peter Parker, that was his name. Your eyes widen as a gasp left your lips.
"Peter Parker" You whisper to yourself as the memories all come back to you. Getting to know Peter, Befriending Ned and M.J, Meeting the Avengers, Becoming a family, Peter becoming Spider-man, falling in Love.
Pink faded to your normal eye color as your memories show all around you. You frowned as you realized Arthur wasn't your soulmate, he wasn't your friend, he was your enemy. When you thought of your soulmate it wasn't Arthur you were thinking about...
It was Peter.
You open your eyes to see you're back at the gala, you turn to see Peter staring at you with the Avengers around him. You turn and look at Arthur who was holding your waist. You looked at Arthur to see him staring at you like an object before looking back at Peter who was watching, waiting to see how you were. Staring at you with love in his eyes.
"Pete?" You whisper out as you felt tears in your eyes, "Peter!" You pushed Arthur away and ran over to Peter and wrapped your arms around his neck.
"(Y/n)!" Peter picked you up and spun you around while laughing before gently putting you down. Peter nuzzled his face in your neck and inhaling your scent, something he missed doing. He pulled away and stared at you in the eyes and holding your shoulders, "(Y/n), I-is it really you? Are you back?"
"I'm back, I'm me again Pete." You let out a wet laugh as Peter smiled and cupped your cheeks and presses a love to your lips. You smile into the kiss before kissing him back. You two pulled away when you need air, pressing your foreheads together.
"I missed doing that," Peter whispered so lowly only you could have heard. You gave him a smile and another peck on the lips before cupping his cheeks.
"Welcome back, lovebirds," Tony yelled before the group ran over and gave you the biggest hug you've ever had.
"You little shit, you scared us half to death!"
"If you do that again I will kill you slowly."
"I'm sorry to do that but it was the only way to get you back!"
"It's good to see you again, kid."
"We missed you so much!" You heard what they were saying even if they were overlapping. You let out some tears as you hugged them all tightly. You forgot how many people care about you, you swore you'll make sure you'll never forget that again.
"I know, I'm sorry I left." You moved your face to the monster himself, Arthur, "It won't happen again." and you detached yourself from the group to walk over to Arthur.
"What... just happened here?" Arthur looks around the group confusion showing in his eyes. You stood there with stone-cold gaze as you glare at him.
"Something you wouldn't know, true love." You lifted your chin and narrow your eyes at him as he watched you with shock all over his face. He stared before chuckling to himself making you glower.
"You think that's true love? Only I know what true love is and I gave that to you." He walked closer to you, trying to make you stand down but you won't, "And you threw that all away. You'll never know what true love feels like."
"No, what you gave me wasn't true love. Even if it was..." You gripped the necklace that he gave you days ago, "Your love stinks." You ripped it off your neck and threw it to the ground. You start walking toward him as he slowly backs away.
"You think I'll let you catch me, No one would even suspect me." He smirks making you smirk as you motion to the people behind you.
"Yeah, no one, No one except for The Avengers." You smirk as you snapped your fingers, "I think we found our criminal. Take him away."
"With pleasure," Natasha smirks and walks toward Arthur before handcuffing him and taking him away, Steve following suit. You only relax as Arthur leaves the room. You turn around to see Peter walking toward you.
"Hey." You smiled at him, memories of you two when you were little flash around you.
"Hi." Peter smiled shyly at you before taking your hand and planting a small kiss on it. You let out a laugh before you wrap your arm around Peter's shoulder.
"You saved me." You whispered quietly and for a moment you thought he didn't hear you. You let out a long breathe before giving your hairline a sweet kiss and looking in your eyes.
"I'll always protect you." You give him a smile before cuddling into Peter's side. You both looked at each other with content smiles.
