Down The Rabbit Hole, Chapter 9
Word Count: 1.2k
Warnings: none
“Jeff…what are you doing her-“
“Why are you abandoning me?” he asked drunkenly as he stood in the entrance of her dorm. Tawney frowned as he dropped the bottle he’d been holding, and the remainder of the contents spilled out of its neck and into the hall. Her eyes were brought back up to his face when he hiccupped, “Tawn…wh-why?”
“Jeff, you’re drunk!” she sighed, shaking her head, “y-you should go to bed. Go sleep it off at Abeds, or-“
“You didn’t even show up for our Christmas party…” he whined, his head leaning against the frame, “Speaking of Ab-“
“I don’t want to hear about Abed…or the group, Jeff…” she groaned, “I was just trying to tell you to go away without telling you to drive home!”
He sighed heavily, “that’s right. You’re fighting with us! You’re mad at the girls because of”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she lied, shaking her head once again as she cut him off, “Jeff you need to go home and sleep!”
“Troy tolme about what he did! About how he found out that Abed said all those mean things to you,” he said quickly, “tolme you tried to help the girls when Abed went off the railse and he just turned into a dick.”
“Jeff-“
“But I had to come by Tawney…I had-had to tell you!” he hiccupped, “I had to tell you that he’s wrong. That you’re-you mean something to us. You’re part of the group. You-what time is it?”
She sighed, opening her door wide enough to pull the man in, “Jeff…come in. You’re being too loud and it’s 3 AM. I don’t need people complaining about me because of you! It’s obvious that you’re not gonna make it to your car, let alone to Abed’s dorm. You’re crashing here!”
“But Tawney…you showing up to the hospital for Pierce the other day was the first time we’ve seen you in months…you-you even transferred out of Spanissh.”
“I just got put into another class,” she shrugged, “I had too much going on…it’s no big deal…”
“Tawney…the last time we saw you was before Christmas!” he said urgently as his arms looped around her waist. She saw the sadness in his eyes as he clung to her, his face only inches from hers. She frowned even more thinking about how she’d been thinking of him lately, and how she could smell the alcohol like a thick cloud around him, “y-you left the group. You lef-left me!”
She scoffed, “Jeff…the group-you, don’t need me!”
He shook his head vigorously, “no…no…we need you. I-I need you, Tawney…y-you mean so much to me.”
“Jeff-“
“You didn’t leave the group….you’re mad at them. Not all of us. Juss them. Troy told me about how he stopped at your dorm and you two talked for hours after he dropped us all off on his birthday…an-and you showed up for Pierce the other day when he called us all to the hospital. Y-you’re just mad at the girls…and Abed…and me!”
“We don’t need to go over-“
“I have feelings for you Tawney!” he said urgently, his hands reaching up and cupping her face between them, “I have so many feelings for you, just-“
“No you don’t, Jeff. You’re just dru-“
But before she could so much as finish her sentence, Jeff had pushed towards her, closing the gap between them, and their lips were crashing together.
“Hey…are you okay?”
Jeff bit his lip, not wanting to meet eyes with Tawney. She leaned against the line of filing cabinets, waiting for his eyes to open. He sighed and their eyes met. She frowned a little bit more as she not only saw the pain, but practically felt it radiating off of him.
It’d been a nightmarish day for Jeff. One that he wished he could erase from the history books. And while everyone else seemed caught up in their own little worlds, Tawney stood, checking up on him even after what had happened between the two of them the last time they were together.
He felt his stomach turn as his eyes left hers, “I want to be alone, Tawney…”
“I don’t think that’s true,” she said softly, kneeling on the ground in front of him, “Jeff…sit up…talk to me. Look at me.”
“Tawney…”
He blinked his eyes and sat up. Her frown deepened even more when she saw the tears lining his eyes. Reaching out, she put a hand on his leg, “hey…it’s okay, Jeff.”
“She embarrassed me, Tawney…” he said slowly, voice croaking from not being used in a few hours, “she showed everyone that audition tape.”
“It was just a silly tape you made when you were younger,” she tried, “everyone does something silly at one point or another.”
“But everyone saw my ‘something silly,’ Tawney…”
“Everyone from Annie’s high school saw her ‘something silly.’ Troy remembered her running through a plate glass door. And Troy did that keg stand and purposefully broke his bones because he felt too much pressure…and I’m pretty sure Abed thinks his ‘something silly,’ was that messiah film he made not too long ago. And as far as Pierce and Britta…I’m pretty sure they do a lot of something silly, but it just rolls off their shoulders because of how often it happens. But it happens to everyone, Jeff..”
Jeff cracked the smallest of smiles before frowning once more, “but everyone saw mine.”
“And you’re a different person from when you filmed it,” she replied quickly, “sure, everyone had a good laugh, but think about it…if you were watching it alone…what would you do?”
“I’d laugh!” he admitted, his cheeks heating up at the admittance, “and I would think about how I was a jackass back then.”
“And now?”
“I’m still a little bit of a jackass…”
“You’re not wrong,” she smiled, nudging him a little bit, “but you’re also so much more than that, Jeff.”
“You’re just saying that.”
“I’m not though,” she said with another shake of her head. Pushing herself off of the ground, she stood up and held her hands out to Jeff, “come on…lets get up. There are better things to be doing around Greendale than sitting behind some chalkboard in a dusty storage room.”
He gave her a nod, and took her hands, allowing himself to be pulled up. She giggled as he stumbled into her, pushing her back ever so slightly. Her back hit the line of cabinets and she stared up into his eyes as his hands kept her there.
“Je-Jeff…”
The breathing between the two got a little heavier as their eyes caught one another’s, “I-I remember kissing you that night when I was drunk!”
“Y-you do?”
He nodded softly, his hands lingering at her hips, “Tawney…I meant what I said then…you mean more than you know…”
“Jeff…”
“Can I kiss you?” he asked softly, “sober this time? I-I don’t want you thinking I only did it because I was drunk. I really do have feelings for you, Tawney!”
The words dried up in her throat as she looked at him, helplessly. One hand reached up and stroked her cheek, while the other remained on her hip.
“I-I-“
“I want there to be an ‘us’, Tawney…” he begged softly, “I don’t want you to leave the group…I-I don’t want you to leave me. Just-I can be more than some jackass…and I want to be that with you…I just need a chance. ”
“Jeff…”
“Promise you won’t abandon me, Tawney!”
“I-I won’t!” she whimpered as his lips met hers once more.

Final Production Evaluation- last part
Finally Toru, who I had the easiest time drawing. Now she is very fast naturally and cape is just a strength and speed enhancement from the deity. I designed her look around olympic sprinters because of that (her cape looks over her like the flag you'll see them wear of their county too). Toru was the one I mention in eval part 3 having joined ST and the deity of her free will. She did so because she wanted power to be able to lead her life how she wanted and not by her parents command (they were gonna sell her off).
Overall-
My Final Product turned out different than I had anticipated. At first I was going to create a shot animation loop of ST but that feel through once I realised that I wasn't likely to finish it in he time span. Here was an early version of it with the star point and end point visualized. It was just going to be a loop of her taking the deity off, looking defiant and then putting it back on. But it would symbolise how she was more in control when the deity wasn't on her to help portray her situation. I was looking at the moblie game Epic Sevens smooth animations and wanted it to look like the movemnt you'd observe if you checked the characters in the menu. Sadly that didn't come to fruition but I ended up at the idea of the character sheet because of it so it wasn't time wasted.
I believe that I managed to transfer my understanding of altered states into a visual response rather well. For not being what I set out to create I'm pleased with the result of my final product. It fits the function of a line up by informing others on the characteristics of my creations and their objects from the deity while helping me keep them in relative size of each other.
To get to my final response, I had to do a lot of visual referencing so I could be confident that my drawing was conveying the message I wanted to send of the characters. I tried experimenting mix and matching line less work ( ST's hair) with line work and found I greatly enjoyed the result I obtained from that. However I only liked it on her, everyone else looked better with the line art.
I feel like I could of Improved upon the designs of pretty much all the character except Tolm and ST. I found that drawing them prior to the act of putting them in the line up allowed me to visualise a more cohesive design which helped explain the character. In hindsite I could of covered Koko's stomach to better inform the viewer of attempts to be like ST, as it makes her seem more childish (even if I said that was a good thing earlier). Also, I thought that I could of improved on the way I drew them, perhaps if I'd drawn them with a less smooth pen I could have the parts of the deity (Everything black basically except the character lineart) look more like they don't belong to any of the characters. That they call the shots.
Through my reaserch of paredolia I think the project helped broaden my visual awareness enough to consider using those to create character designs out of that I would other wise have to think up a pose, design and colour scheme for from my own imagination. This project also helped me figure out that I really do need a plan for everything if I want to get my work done in time, if I'd done so I might of actually made the animation of earlier.
Evidencing and exploring my work was most easiest for me when I made work( illustrations) out of it, just looking it up would lead to me subconsciously using the ideas but not remembering were I'd got them. Brainstorms and mood boards would give me a place to start, but I'd end up never looking back at them again after the initial idea.
The project did help me broaden my technical skill because I didn't think to use reference before, if I didn't know what something looked like exactly I would either change my drawing ideal around it or simply draw it and deal with the result, so it helped me in realising that it's okay to just go search up a reference.
Before this project I wouldn't of considered just making a mess with art supplies (ink blots) and seeing what I could envision creating from them. It's made me feel more confident in just seeing what I could come up with If I just let loose on a page and then refined it until it became interesting piece which could help inspire the rest of my projects.

every chapter of asoiaf - Catelyn I, A Game Of Thrones
Catelyn took her husband’s hand. “There was greivous news today, my lord. I did not wish to trouble you until you had cleansed yourself.” There was no way to soften the blow, so she tolm him straight. “I am so sorry, my love. Jon Arryn is dead.” His eyes found hers, and she could see how hard it took him, as she had known it would. In his youth, Ned had fostered at the Eyrie, and the childless Lord Arryn had become a second father to him and his fellow ward, Robert Baratheon. When the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen had demanded their heads, the Lord of the Eyrie had raised his moon-and-falcon banners in revolt rather than give up those he had pledged to protect. And one day fifteen years ago, this second father had become a brother as well, as he and Ned stood together in the sept at Riverrun to wed two sisters, the daughters of Lord Hoster Tully.

DCN Video Pick: OP+ Opening Titles by Tolm // If something is in the dark, does it really exist? Maybe life only appears once we cast light and our eyes on it at the same time? Or will it appear only when it catches shadows and becomes an everlasting battleground between light and darkness? Is space rigid and it's only us that bend, deform and distort in it? Or the other way around? Come along to a visual exploration of light and dark, of what is present and what is not. A studio film and an opening sequence to a weekly cultural magazine wrapped in one. We would like to thank Janek Murd (https://soundcloud.com/janek-murd) for his enormous contribution by creating a fantastic soundtrack to the film. And also our gratitude goes towards Antti Häkli and Mariina Mälk from ETV for giving us time and total freedom to create this film. An animation advertisement for an Estonian tv-program called OP! Made by the Estonian design company Tolm. I think it is a very elegant and stylish campaign and I am really enjoying the geometrical response to the music. Their description:
Title sequence and idents for weekly TV culture magazine OP!
We were experimenting with black & white lines and surfaces and playing around with musical notation of the original score. The show focuses on 3 different themes: theatre, cinema and art, sometimes playful, sometimes serious.

multiples of 5 for tom asks
Long post time! Feel free to send some more. But I decided to add gifs so this one is longer. The list is here.
Here we go!
5. Least favorite movie
I don't vibe with Risky Business that much. It's... there. I can see why people liked it. But meh.
10. Favorite haircut
Mitch McDeere. His hair is tied to his emotional state and I just love it. I am just a big fan of this length of hair.
15. Favorite Mission Impossible movie
Rogue Nation. That's the answer for today anyway. I still love mi1 a ton, but Rogue Nation is just a blast. I like all the different set pieces and the underwater scene at one point reads as what would happen on a videogame death screen. I just think it is neat.
20. If you could only watch one film of his for the rest of time, which would it be and why?
Either the Firm or TGM
25. What’s a performance that you think should have been nominated for an Oscar and why?
Okay but like... How the hell wasn't he nominated for an Oscar for a few good men? Like it is a great balance of dramatic reading and comedy and he just nails the role down so well. Answer me Academy, ANSWER ME!

There’s a lot of debris floating around in space, and researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab are using supercomputers, optical sensors and other technology to track even small objects that could damage important satellites.
John Henderson, a space scientist at LLNL, explains:
“Everybody uses GPS to get from here to there. We have satellite television, we have weather reports, farmers use satellite data for monitoring crops. If you have a piece of satellite debris whacking into a satellite, in the worst case you now lose that capability. In February of 2009, that actually happened where there was an Iridium communications satellite that collided with a dead Russian Kosmos satellite and so that basically took out a $100 million dollar satellite.
There’s somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000 pieces of debris that we would like to be tracking. And so the supercomputing capabilities that we have here at Livermore are one way to keep track of that.”

8, 25!
8. Underrated movie
All the right moves is one I consider just wildly not known and just like downplayed. It's one of my favorite "Teen" tom roles. I love the tone that it sets and I just really like it.
25. What’s a performance that you think should have been nominated for an Oscar and why?
Lesat, Lesat, Lesat, Lestat. Listen he worked so hard on this role and just like... He deserved at least a NOM for it!
