Concert
Even though Makalaure is the musical prodigy of the family, Maitimo still spent a good part of his youth mastering his instrument, and he likes to perform to his small audience.
Lalwen likes to listen to her nephew whenever she has the chance and Maglor, well, he likes not being the performer from time to time.+
+
For @tolkiengenweek day 7: extra day, cause I have no idea how to categorise it.

@tolkienlatamandcaribbeanweek day one | the valar & the orixás
Then those of the Ainur who desired it arose and entered into the World at the beginning of Time; and it was their task to achieve it, and by their labours to fulfil the vision which they had seen. Long they laboured in the regions of Eä, which are vast beyond the thought of Elves and Men, until in the time appointed was made Arda, the Kingdom of Earth. Then they put on the raiment of Earth and descended into it, and dwelt therein.
—The Silmarillion, “Valaquenta”
The Valar are here represented by a selection of the Orixás deities of the Yoruba religion. All the images were created by Brazilian photographer Tiago Sant’anna, and edited by me.
Not every Vala is represented, as I only had so much material and space; also included is Uinen, who is a Maia, not a Vala, but still one of the most powerful Ainur. Likewise, not every Orixá is included.
Uinen is represented by Iemanjá; Yavanna is represented by Oxum; Aulë is represented by Xangô; Tulkas is represented by Ogum; Nessa is represented by Iansã; Oromë is represented by Oxóssi. They are all loosely connected to their Orixá deity by their aesthetics and domain of power.
Manwë and Vána’s images are not (as far as I can tell) actually artistic representations of the Orixá, but rather some inspiring photography on other topics, but I wanted to include them as well.

Me: "I'll be posting through the week"
Also me: *forgets to post at all*
Anyway, the other day I went out and took some pictures!!! These are basically my hobbit fashion headcanons because I just know in my heart they would wear this. All of these are locally produced, mostly hand-made. I was given permission to take the pictures and share them.
So, yeah! There you have it. Most of these are traditionally for women but you got some shirts for men as well. I would've love to take a pictures of more but I forgot lmao. There was one with an embroidered hummingbird I really liked. My mom also bought a wool handbag traditionally woven. I would show you but she gifter it to someone.
I might post some other stuff later, but I've learned my lesson. I won't be making any promises lol. @tolkienlatamandcaribbeanweek nwn

A very quick digital version of an old sketch of Melkor’s design based on Tezcatlipoca for @tolkienlatamandcaribbeanweek
Hace mil años con una amiga dijimos “Valinor es america” y procedimos a tratar de armar diseños de los valar basados en distintas culturas precolombinas. Nunca me terminaron de cerrar los diseños y quedaron solo en boceto, así que jamás los postee.
(I don’t know how any of you managed to post today. I’ve been trying all day and I keep getting a “failed to upload” error both on pc and app. Thanks Elon...)

@tolkienlatamandcaribbeanweek day three | elves | fingolfin
Then Fingolfin beheld (as it seemed to him) the utter ruin of the Noldor, and the defeat beyond redress of all their houses; and filled with wrath and despair he mounted upon Rochallor his great horse and rode forth alone, and none might restrain him. He passed over Dor-nu-Fauglith like a wind amid the dust, and all that beheld his onset fled in amaze, thinking that Orome himself was come: for a great madness of rage was upon him, so that his eyes shone like the eyes of the Valar.

for @tolkienlatamandcaribbeanweek
I am portraying the Noldor of the mountainous regions of Aman with Peru.
The country and people of Peru are very important to me. I wanted to also link to some information and support pages for the Quechua people: x x
I am going to make a headcanon post for this group but essentially they live in more isolated communities in the mountains of Aman though a small population returned to Valinor with the host of Fëanor and Fingolfin where they settled in and around the Ered Luin and taught the host of Bëor to care for goats, alpacas and guinea pigs. They are experts in textile arts and dying and there is a strong passion for mathematics, geometry and cartography among them too.

Seems like a good occasion to bring this back for @tolkienlatamandcaribbeanweek
I didn't have to wait to the start of the event to post it, because I am like that, and I always draw Hobbits as Mexican regardless of any event that might be going on. I will be posting more stuff like this throughout the week. I hope I am not breaking any guidelines.

SIIIII YO ESTABA DE QUE PENSANDO EN ESTO EL OTRO DÍA
Manwe as Quetzalcoatl it fits him so well, since that's his brother. As far as I've researched there is an overlap of Tezcatlipoca and Xolotl in different versions of the myth, and Xolotl is the god of deformities and monsters. Though it would be wrong to separate him fully from Quetzalcoatl, as they are two "sides" of the same entity, because aztec gods don't work the same ways as they do in other cultures. Many oppose the use of the word "god" to describe them, though I am not of the Nahua people myself and I am not qualified to speak on the topic. Still, amazing depiction! I wanted to do something like this but deemed my skills insufficient.
