DEATH

     Death is popularly defined as eternal rest, a euphemism perhaps, but it does the work. Talking about death is a taboo, not technically but rather an unspoken rule, the reason could be because of the fact that it makes people feel uncomfortable. People would argue, why would you be so worried about something inevitable, no matter what you do it will come to you, so just live your life.

     Apparently, no matter how logical this is and how logical death is, it defies your own logic that the perspective that you have right now, specifically what your eyes see and what your mind thinks of at this very moment will just become a thought of an insignificant person from history. Even if we don’t admit it, we value our life more than the life of other people, deep inside we might be thinking that we are different or perhaps “special” would be the right terminology, that is meant to do something great and right now we are still figuring out our lives, pressured by the ticking of time.

     Can you imagine? Becoming part of what could be referred to as “Forgotten History”, the gray area of history. Maybe in our generation, it is very much avoidable because of the vast information we can get from the internet, that you will always leave a trace somewhere. However, we never know what will happen 5000 years from now, because that’s way beyond our life span and who cares about someone who lived 5000 years ago right? We don’t really know how the world will change like how are our ancestors never knew that the world will become what it is today. Imagine, all your dreams, aspirations, your own persona, just fades away through time. I guess that’s the reason why people want to change the world, because they want to be remembered, maybe as the inventor of planes, telephone, cars and whatnot.

     To live is to die, for sure every single one of us have heard this at least once in our life. A simple statement of a fact, but we tend to receive it and correlate it with something bigger, maybe a purpose. Living life with a purpose, or so they say. However, even if we find that purpose, logically your mind will tell you that you won’t be able to remember everything that ever happened in your life time, because death stops the function of everything including your brain. Most of us believes in life after death, our faith leads us to do so, we believe that we are created by a higher being and that someday we are going to be reunited with Him. I mean, how are you able to explain the galaxies, the different layers of the atmosphere that support life, imagine how all of these were created. All of these things that are beyond our comprehension, even the fact that we have been given this much knowledge to be able to communicate, and even to realize all of these things.

     Earth has been existing for billions of years, and humanity has existed how many years? Who knows, however we were born in this century. Have you ever thought, why today after all the years that have passed, it’s as if time goes much faster if you’re already dead or before you were born. Others would also relate death with sleeping because when you’re asleep you won’t realize that 8 hours has already passed. If you put it that way, death isn’t that scary after all isn’t it, I guess we feel uncomfortable because we don’t really know what comes after death. Death is like a candle, it can emit light for a very short amount of time, once it’s gone, it’s gone. Ephemeral indeed, who knows what life has in store for us, who knows why we were given life in the first place and in the end just be taken away, let’s hope there’s a purpose. Let’s hope we find that purpose.
