Today we have a beautiful 1966 Candy Apple Red Fender Electric XII, 12 String Solid Body Electric Guitar in its original black tolex hard shell case! - This is a truly beautiful custom-color example of a Fender Electric XII, finished in the flashy and always-popular Candy Apple Red metallic lacquer. While not one of Leo Fender's best-remembered creations the Electric XII is nonetheless is a superbly engineered, great-sounding and extremely practical 12-string. Introduced at the July 1965 NAMM Show at the dawn of the CBS/Fender era the Fender XII married the popular Jaguar/Jazzmaster style offset body to a new 12-string neck with a distinctive extended "hockey stick" headstock. The neck itself is typically Fender; slim and very comfortable. These are often considered the best-playing electric 12s of the 1960s, and with good reason. Custom color examples like this are fairly rare, and particularly striking looking guitars with the elongated matching headstock. - - - - #fenderelectricxii #fenderelectricxii1966 #fenderguitar #guitarforsale #fendersofinstagram #candyapplered #vintageelectricxii #fenderelectric12string #fender12string (at Retrofret Vintage Guitars) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqI-zQdOPIf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

the eroticization of an ampeg classic svt 8x10 cabinet reupholstered with burlap by a man who i met on craigs list. i need a particular drill bit to remove it. he wanted the screws to be unseen to the naked eye. grill-cloth is fundamentally ugly. will cross that bridge when i inevitably blow one of the 8 speakers and need a reconing. sanded and refinished after the tolex peeled off on its own within the cabinet's 53 years of existence. corners shaved. will become road-worn in the summer and the fall. it is friday.

Took a few real hard looks at this Bassman before it dawned on me it was a cosmetic variant we’d never seen. The Bassman has the odd distinction of retaining its Brown Panel 6G6-B circuit (prominent visual cues include the presence control and white barrel knobs) well into the 1964 model year. So much so that the last Brown Panel 6G6-B Bassmans have smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth (and faceplates that were black) So a Bassman with the later AA864 circuit (the first proper Black Panel circuit sans-Presence control) has no buisiness sporting the tuxedo duds of a Bassman from the first half of 1964. Original smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grill on an AA864 circuit Bassman? Be still my heart! All original mid/late 1964 transformers are present, along with a 1964 chassis stamp, ‘64 pot codes and an “NK” tube chart stamp placing production at November, 1964. It’s a weirdo, and it could be your weirdo! #Fender #VintageFender #fenderamp #1964 (at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp4PGNguThl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Yesterday when I got my "little" (it still weighs like 65 pounds and doesn't do low volume well) amp out of the closet, a penny fell off of the bottom of it. God only knows how long it had been there, stuck to the tolex by whatever mystery goo is bred in the carpet of a punk club stage.
I felt bad for the penny, and I wasn't content to let its journey end here. So, I found my tape dispenser and he's attached once more to my amp, but now on the back where I'll see him every time I set up. Maybe before we're done we'll see a few more places together.
That's the kind of person I am, honestly. The kind who feels bad for a coin, an inanimate object that costs more to make than it's worth.
But me and Lil Abe? We aren't done yet.

Gibson J-45 "Banner" True Vintage 2011
Tumblr media
Gibson J-45 "Banner" TV True Vintage 2011 - the Adirondack top turns this guitar into an acoustic sound cannon. 3 pickups were installed to make it a perfect stage guitar as well: - LR Baggs Lyric - LR Baggs M80 - a high-end piezo pickup under the saddle (probably from K&K) The pickups and the professional installation alone cost more than 1000 €. The Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar is the prince of a range of Gibson flattops now referred to as "Round-Shoulder Dreadnoughts." This elegant workhorse debuted in 1942, and became an instant favorite for its rich, warm, vocal tone and excellent projection. Today, this Gibson acoustic guitar is played by the likes of Bob Dylan, Ralph McTell, Billy Jo Armstrong, and Lucinda Williams. Carrying accurate touches such as a Slim-Taper neck profile, teardrop tortoise pickguard, 4-ply top binding, and banner headstock inlay (declaring "Only A Gibson Is Good Enough"), the Gibson J-45 True Vintage is an accurate representation of the acoustic guitar that became the standard of hard-gigging bluegrass, folk, and country artists of the 1940s and 1950s. It is in excellent condition with only a small amount of playwear in the finish of the body. This particular example is light and as such superbly resonant and sounds great with that awesome Gibson ping. Chords ring perfectly with fantastic note definition and the nice low action makes this guitar a dream to play. Specifications: Body Style: Round Shoulder, Top Species: Adirondack Red Spruce, Back and Sides: Mahogany, Body Binding: Multi-ply top, single-ply back, Bracing: Scalloped top bracing, Neck Species: Mahogany, Fingerboard Species: Rosewood, Inlay: MOP Dots, Bridge Type: Traditional Belly Up with Bone Saddle, Bridge material: Rosewood, Pins: White Hardware, Tuners: Cream Button 3-in-line Tuners, Pickguard: Tortoise tear drop, Case: Period Correct True Vintage Hardshell Case with brown Tolex exterior and pink fabric interior Read the full article
