Harvey Nichols X Beams

London’s renowned luxury retailer, Harvey Nichols, launched TOKYOJIN, a very exclusive curation by Beams, representing the typical Tokyo Man and celebrating Japanese artisan craftsmanship and the city’s endless strive for unique authenticity. 

The classic Tokyo Man loves to explore the secret corners of the world, yet always remembers his roots and shows pride towards his Japanese heritage. He is a hybrid of lifestyles, admires avant-garde design as well as traditional artisan creations. TOKYOJIN represents all these assets and is curated as a pop-up at Harvey Nichols LG 1, Menswear. It puts a contemporary perspective on Japan, through a unique collection of Japanese apparel, accessories, and homeware brands. Alongside these cutting-edge designs, BEAMS has also curated a number of incredible artisan products, celebrating japanese sub-culture.

Highlights of the pop-up include; ready-to-wear from BEAMS, BEAMS PLUS, BEAMS JAPAN and an exclusive collaboration between BEAMS, Harvey Nichols and Champion, offering a cosy sweater as well as an on-trend t-shirt. Lifestyle products include the iconic Kokeshi dolls, ceramics and captivating books from MACK.

TOKYOJIN turns Knightsbridge into a Japanese paradise for six weeks and will exclusively offer workshops and memorable experiences for curious customers. Visitors can customise their very own Harvey Nichols X Beams t-shirt, choosing from three different designs. Moreover, Yasuhiro Sato will showcase the making of the artful Kokeshi dolls, on the opening weekend. Alongside the captivating workshops and events, Toconoco, an East London Japanese restaurant, lent their delicious cuisine to Harvey Nichols and offers the most delightful dishes ranging from classic toast plates topped with wasabi or avocado to Hojicha tea. 

The pop-up is certainly worth a visit, teaching about the Japanese culture from a very fashionable perspective. The exclusive BEAMS collection is now available in store and online on http://www.harveynichols.com/project-109/beams/ .
