I know I haven't posted non art stuff here in a long long time but I wanna try and use this more as a general social media too what with everything at the other one. I have always sort of liked the set up of tumblr more anyway but a fear of being annoying and posting things people don't care about when they probably follow me for a fandom I haven't drawn fanart for in 2 years lol.

So maybe time for a re-introduction?

Hello! I'm BoltCreature. I do a lot of thinking about drawing and SOME actual drawing. Mostly chibi/SD stuff cause I have that issue where if I can't finish something in one burst of drawing I don't wanna finish it (this is only 50% a joke).

As far as hobbies go I love tokusatsu, manga and anime, video games, horror movies and gunpla mostly.

My favourites of these things are off the top of my head.

Toku: Kamen Rider 555, Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, Kamen Rider Den-O, Choujinki Metalder, Kamen Rider OOO. (Special extra shout outs to Kamen Rider Hibiki)

Manga: Alita Last Order, Chainsaw Man, Eyeshield 21, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, xxxHolic.

Anime: Durarara!!, Baccano!, Laid Back Camp, A Place Further than the Universe, Mobile Suit Gundam.

Video Games: Final Fantasy XIV, Dark Souls, Animal Crossing, Super Mario World, Raging Loop.

I'm currently playing VA-11 Hall-A and loving it.

Horror movies: Ring, Noroi, The Blair Witch Project, Halloween (1978), Shadow of the Vampire

Gunpla feels a little silly to make a top 5 of cause I do love it but I'm not hardcore by any means. I recently build a HGUC Guncanon (my special little guy) and the HG Ariel and they were both very good!

I also stream occasionally at twitch.tv/boltcreature - mostly art stuff.

The header of my tumblr page is from episode 3 of season 1 of Joe Para Talks With You. It's a very good episode of television that everyone should watch, it's very important to me.

Well, I adjusted my header, blog title, and pfp, that'll do for now. Will probably change my url later. I feel like the brain I had last time I was on here is very different from the one I currently have, though it may just be wishful thinking.

I wrote up a lot more but it just turned into me venting about how bad the Twitter experience is (even before Elon!). I stared it down for a while and finally deleted all that text, I don't want to take that negativity with me.

My pfp is from Wandering Emanon. I think my friends are aware of this manga by now, but if you aren't, it's a wonderful, melancholic, and introspective series about a young woman who lives a very very long time, and what that entails. Melancholic media is some of my favorite stuff.

My header and blog title are from Sukeban Deka (season 2 and the first movie, specifically). I only got back into tokusatsu in the last few years, and recently fell really hard into the rabbit hole, but everything Sukeban-related and aimed at teens has reigned supreme for me. Yoko Minamino comes on screen with her bleeding heart on her sleeve and I'm like, "That's my mom!" (Don't tell my IRL mom, I love her too.)

I rewrote this post several times but I think that's probably still closer to what I want to do online right now than vent. I just wanna yell about my hobbies until they become other people's hobbies.

It's from the second ending theme for the anime Samurai Flamenco! I loved the animation for that one sm, so I made a gif out of it myself :)

Speaking of SamFlam, if you like tokusatsu, super sentai, mecha, superheroes or just something plain wild, I recommend checking it out! I had a lot of fun w it :)

saying that, the girl in my icon/header is my ffxiv oc, ahrora! her fake anime op is the phoenix so it’s still fob themed in my heart. if you ask me about her i'll happily talk about her. for hours on end, with little regards for story spoilers, so ask at your own risk.

Hideaki Anno's Shin Kamen Rider Film Debuts Teaser Trailer, Poster

  While Shin Ultraman was busy premiering in Japanese theaters today, Shin Kamen Rider put the pedal to the metal by releasing a teaser poster, trailer and more cast members for Hideaki Anno's (Neon Genesis Evangelion) next passion project.

    The trailer teases the relationship between Takeshi Hongo (Kamen Rider) and Ruriko Midorikawa, played by Sousuke Ikematsu and Minami Hamabe, while also showing off some of the exciting tokusatsu action to come.

    Shinya Tsukamoto, Toru Tezuka and Suzuki Matsuo will be joining the film's cast as undisclosed characters, while Tasuku Emoto is set to take on the mantle of Hayato Ichimonji (Kamen Rider No. 2), pictured on the right in the header image.

  Based on the original television series by Shotaro Ishinomori, Shin Kamen Rider is directed, written and produced by Hideaki Anno and is scheduled to release in Japanese theaters in March 2023.

First off I wanna say people who are looking for a Magical Boy show are looking under the wrong genre header. What you want to search for is Henshin Hero or Super Sentai.

Sailor Moon is the series that set up a lot of the tropes that most people today recognize making up a magical girl show, and Naoko Takeuchi has admitted to lifting those tropes straight from Super Sentai shows like Kamen Rider and Power Rangers. Things like the long form transformation, color coded teams, etc. can all be found there. So if you want a good animated Henshin Hero show here is a list of anime:
