DAY ONE: Urban or Rural

January 2121 Akane Tsunemori was released from Tokorozawa Correction and Care Center. Kogami and Tsunemori took a picture of them in front of the cherry blossoms. This photo is printed and framed on his desk in MoFA headquarters on Dejima.

週末は所沢市の「トトロの森（公益財団法人トトロのふるさと基金）」で、冬鳥とフユシャクのガイドツアーでした。快晴の下、次々に現れる鳥や昆虫たちの観察に熱中していたら、予定コースの半分しか進めないほどの盛り上がり。SNSを見て参加して下さった皆様、ありがとうございました。

「トトロの森」は、映画「となりのトトロ」のモデルとなった狭山丘陵に点在する森をトラストで保護・維持管理している団体で、宮崎駿さんも発起人の一人。トラストとガイドツアーを組み合わせた活動のユニークさが評価され、今年、環境省「第18回エコツーリズム大賞」優秀賞を受賞しました。 私は2016年から主に昆虫のツアーでお手伝いする機会を頂いていますが、トトロの森でのガイドが大きな意義を持つと感じるのは、「トトロに会いたい！」（ある場所で本当に「会える」かもしれません）と所沢にいらっしゃる、自然にあまり関心がなかった人々に対して案内・解説をする機会が多いこと。自然観察会のボトルネックの一つは、もともと自然が好きな参加者が集まりがち、という部分にあると思いますが、トトロの森でのガイドツアーは、自然観察と生命科学の「裾野」を���げたい、0を1に、-を+にするネイチャーガイドをしたい、と考えてきた私にとって、願ってもない環境を頂いています。

来年もガイドツアーはもちろん開催予定。3月の早春の花探しとバードウォッチングからスタートです。SNSでも私が参加するツアーについては、随時発信したいと思っていますので、ご関心の方、ぜひトトロの森でお待ちしています！
