the thing about toei anniversary specials is that while i would like a select few ships to become canon (yes m/f that is pretty much all toei makes canon unless it's like fucking RIDER TIME RYUKI), most of the ones that have the possibility are ones i DO NOT LIKE

the first of my three toku holiday exchange 2022 pieces!! i had a really fun time doing the exchange [ ID: two digital drawings of the toqgers from toqger. the first drawing shows two panels. the first panel shows the inside of the rainbow line train, where the toqgers are gathered together while wagon, ticket, and the conductor walk towards them. the train has paper rainbow chains hung up on its walls and rainbow balloons in two corners. wagon is pushing a cart with a blue cake on it and throwing confetti. the conductor is smiling as he walks forward. tokacchi is near the conductor and looks over his shoulder with a surprised expression. akira is standing near wagon, holding onto one of the trains straps and looking over with surprise. kagura, mio, and right all are sitting together and are looking at the cake with excited expressions. hikari sits across from them by himself near the trains windows, he also has a surprised expression. the second panel shows the toqgers looking down at the cake with happy and hungry expressions. the cake has rainbows on top of it and a smaller version of the rainbow line train wrapping around it. the second drawing is mainly black and white with pink shadows. it shows the toqgers sitting together eating their cake. kagura and akira are on the edge of the train seats, and kagura is saying something to akira, who holds a plate. mio is behind kagura in the seat, and she is talking with right and tokacchi. tokacchi is leaning over the seat to be in between right and hikari. right is shoveling more cake into his mouth, and hikari leans his head on his hand to look fondly at his friends. /END ID]

The child Toqgers, at the secret base, with an orange cat Right found that he now calls “Aki”

Right is already at the base when the others get there, and he’s lying flat on his back on the ground and staring up through the branches of the tree with a thoughtful look on his face, and this is odd enough that for a moment they don’t even notice the cat. Then, of course, it moves, and all four of them realize that Right’s not wearing a striped shirt, and that he only seems to be because there’s an enormous, fluffy orange tabby cat curled up in the middle of his chest with its front paws folded neatly on his collarbone.He doesn’t seem to mind at all.

“I found this cat earlier and I gave him a piece of hot dog from my lunch and now we’re friends,” he says, instead of greeting them. “His name is Aki. He doesn’t have a tag or anything, I just decided that.”

Kagura squeals with delight and rushes over to his side, holding her hand out to the cat and whispering softly. Tokacchi frowns. “Why Aki?”

“It’s short for Akira. Because he’s orange.”

“Oh. That makes sense.”

They entertain themselves for a few minutes petting the cat, which purrs loudly and submits to being petted with a kinda of awkward dignity that Akira would probably approve of. Right continues to lie there, mostly because he’s pinned down by the cat, but Hikari’s the one who says, finally, “What’s bugging you?”

Right stares up at the leaves. “Mom says we’re moving.”

“To a different house?”

“Away from Subarugahama.”

Mio makes a noise of startled dismay. “What? You can’t just move, how will you get to the base?”

Instead of answering her, he says, “You know, sometimes I kinda miss Emperor Zett. If we had a bad guy to fight then we’d need to be together and I could tell Mom that I wasn’t moving.”

“Right! You’re telling a dumb joke, aren’t you? You’re not allowed to move.”

“I said that, but she didn’t listen to me.” Right pauses, and then smiles abruptly, which is really how he always smiles. “I can probably take the train back to see you guys. I bet that’d be cool.”

On his chest, the cat purrs even more loudly, as if it approves of this plan.

Houtaro: Baby heroes? But we’re hardly babies?

Sougo: It doesn’t matter, once Emu-sensei or Shinnosuke-keibu has adopted you, you’re a baby Rider forever.

Kotaro: Tell me about it, well in my case, baby sentai.

Kotaro: Emu-sensei and Shinnosuke-keibu only knew of my circumstances from a secondary source but they somehow forced their way into my universe and adopted me.

Juuru: Emu-sensei gave everyone tongue lashing when he found out about my supposed death.

Houtaro: Eh? You died, Juuru-san?

Juuru: I didn’t, but my teammates didn’t know that.

Hikari: And to them that counts as a death.

Takeru: I feel like I should apologize, I am kind of the reason why Emu-sensei is angry when a hero who started as young as us dies in every sense of the word.

Mio: Right, you are Kamen Rider Ghost.

Takeru; Uhuh. And I almost died under Emu-sensei’s watch.

Tokacchi: That must be rough.

Houtaro: So who else is a part of this club?

Takeru: Well, there’s the ToQgers

Toqger: Hello.

Kotaro: They were sixth graders when they became a sentai team.

Houtaro: 6th graders?!

Takeru: There’s Yuzuru-kun, he’s the eldest among us, I believe, at least the one with the most experience.

Takeru: Never really was good at math.

Hikari: But he's not here at the moment, he's busy with his mentor.

Houtaro: So there are a lot of us.

Sougo: Technically, Geiz and Tsukuyomi are also a part of this, but they were never really saddled with the title like everyone else here.

Sougo: Same with Yuzuru

Houtaro: Huh.

Houtaro; To be honest, I don’t really know how to feel about this.

Takeru: Its fine, it took us all a certain amount of time to be comfortable with the title.

Takeru: Even Sougo hasn’t let some things go.

Sougo: Keiwa and I are literally of the same age, how come he’s not a baby rider and I am!

Takeru: See?

Honestly this reminds me of how my boss (my team head, not the bitchy one) calls us her children... even if the oldest of us is only ten or so years younger than her lol

I’m not changing the way I spell Tokacchi’s name.

Official sources say its Tokatti, but that doesn’t make sense to me so I’m spelling it as Tokacchi...

And no, Tokacchi’s a fictional character from a children’s television show, you do not get to reblog this and say anything you want. I’m just not comfortable spelling it that way.
