aki toka (aka Tùgē Qiū)(previously aki tokane) was released in 2013. he is voiced and largely illustrated by Nohkara/ Pupuomena/ YukitoYuki. nohkara is finnish, and as such aki is a finloid, meaning they were released in finland just. aki has utau banks in japanese, english, finnish, and russian. theyre also available for deepvocal. aki is nonbinary and uses he/him and they/them pronouns. he is 163cm tall and 19yo. they are bad at lying and quite clumsy at times.

chika is a japanese vocaloid developed by intercet co in collaboration with AMG , and released in 2014. her illustrator has not been revealed, but shes voiced by Itou Chiaki. chika is the first public vocaloid to be made using a new recording created by Noboru Murakami. this technique captures more vocal traits of the vp, and has made chika the divider between the old v3 recording method and newer v4 one. it also increased the amount of triphones in the bank.

Anna

Anna is a Japanese singer, songwriter and TV personality with Russian roots. At the age of 14, she began learning to play acoustic guitar on her own and discovered joy in pouring her emotions and experiences into songs. One of her songs (which she wrote at age 15) won an audition in February 2017 for the theme song of the TV series “Crossroads - Koe ni nani kikinai, kata ni nani miyou” (NHK BS Premium). At the end of May 2017, she debuted her CD “Hitori no Sekai,” with which she launched her career as a singer and lyricist.

Being in her senior year of high school (2017), Anna was unsure about the direction of her career. With help came her mother, who found and played a CD on which the young Anna recorded the song “Letter - Dear Fifteen Kimi” at karaoke. This event strengthened her drive to pursue her music career. In March 2018, she released “Letter - To You, Dear Fifteen,” a cover of Angela Aki's song, for limited distribution.

She regularly uploads original songs and covers to Tik Toka and You Tube. Anna was one of only three Japanese artists selected to participate in the Tik Tok Music Festival's 2021 distribution event, in which 18 countries participated.

Design

Aki’s current design has a princely/boyish aesthetic, which matches his voice. The European influences in Aki’s design can’t be missed, and I think they add a lot to the overall look and character. The amount of brown and yellow makes the green really pop. A face full of freckles is decently uncommon for UTAUs as well. Aki’s design uses a familiar archetype, but provides enough twists so that it stands out.

First Impressions

Shinka is a simple monopitch CV. Aki has a low, boyish voice with a forceful tone. He’s naturally loud. 

Configuration

This voicebank in particular has 10 breath samples, including end breaths. It also has a few extra sounds that you don’t often see in Japanese voicebanks, including some English consonants. There is little-to no background noise and only a few volume inconsistencies.

Ease of Use

His range is much more flexible than you would think. The program recommends him as an alto, but he can sing higher parts very easily. His lower ranges (anything below E3) have that unpleasant buzzing sound most higher ranges UTAUs have in lower singing parts.

His relative power mean he’s very genre-flexible. Adding alternate resamplers onto that can change his voicetype dramatically, allowing for a versatile voice.

Final Thoughts

Aki is an above average voice for beginners to UTAU or those who want to use a less heavy-duty voicebank. As I said earlier about his design, Aki (Shinka) is a familiar type of voice, but with enough unique attributes to make him worthwhile to both new and experienced UTAU users.
