Toh Swap Headcanon

King is the Golden Guard in this AU, and the main reason he’s in this position is because he believes Belos’ lie that he can speak to the Titan, his dad, and wants to be able to have some form of communication with him. Belos uses this to manipulate him, telling him things such as “Your father says he’s disappointed in you for not catching the Wild Witch, but he’s proud of you for doing your best”. Belos isn’t proud of him himself, he just wants to give King some form of genuine motivation to keep trying to capture Luz.

He also learns of the Collector later on, and Belos feeds him another lie, saying that they’re responsible for his species’ extinction and that he’s trying to find a way to get them to bring them back. In a fit of blind rage, King goes down and releases Collector, but only to attack them and scream at them for something they didn’t actually do. Due to Titan magic being able to cancel out Collector’s magic, they can’t fight back and end up injured pretty badly. It ends with Collector escaping into the human realm and soon enough reuniting with Luz.

I haven’t figured out how yet, but Collector knows Luz from the past and trusts her. They’re like her younger sibling in a way. So they cling to her for quite a while.

this AU's trapped god-like creature is: puppet King! a marketable tyrant!

Long ago he and his kind started a war against the Collectors/Archivists and lost. Unfortunately, he is the only one to suffer the consequences.

He can talk and move around a bit, but the surrounding magic makes it so hard! If only there was some non-magical creature to communicate to! Like a human?

Yeah, Luz. They vibe together perfectly, although often have ego-measuring competitions. And Luz may or may not have used King as a weapon (look at this wooden puppet creature and tell me he won't cause serious damage if, say, you were to be whacked with him on the head) on several occasions.

What's King up to in your myosotis AU?

king actually hasn't changed a whole bunch!!! originally i considered swapping him with the collector but... i didn't really like that idea so king is still being raised by Luz! his childhood was definitely different from canon kings tho: for one Luz realized oh this is a Child and treated him as such, unlike eda who thought of him as a pet and then a ""roommate"". this does mean their dynamic is a bit different to the show, although canon eda and myosotis Luz don't take king seriously it's for different reasons. Luz is more of like oh he's just a BABY he's so young i gotta take care of him and a bit more infantalizing i guess?? where king feels like he's not being treated like the mature person he is (which like. sorry man you are 8.) it's like the relationship gets less one sided yk. does what im saying make sense. i just don't really know what ie could/should change from canon so ive kept it pretty similar bc like with Luz and eda I can mirror them but king is just. the outlier. he's just a little guy

he's a bit less dictatory/power hungry (as power hungry as an 8yr can be lmao) and a bit more chill compared to his canon counterpart. he also shares Luz's love for storytelling/reading! i think Luz would still like stories and escapism but im unsure if she would want like. fantasy even tho she lives in a fantasy world or just let regular human stuff Gus style. but king and luz both Love 2 read! this comes into play in S3 w/ collector where instead of... whatever S3 did the BI gets turned into a DnD game! bc of king. it's fun. i love rewriting S3. he's also used to being kinda independent bc sometimes luz has bad days (re: depression + bile sack exhaustion) and she just. can't get out of bed sometimes and take care of him. which is fun

im still working out what i wanna do for his backstory bc like. I Could see Luz realizing oh he's not playing pretend he actually believes this and just... Not stopping it bc she doesn't know how to handle it and it makes him happy (tying into her love of using stories as escapism). Or she could tell him and he knows he isn't actually a king of demons but Luz just refuses to share more of his backstory with him (reasons why she would do this are unclear) which causes king to take Eda + Gus (Gus takes S2 Lilith's place) to his home and then yk how the rest of the ep plays ou. the first one seems to make more sense but I'm also worried with making shit Too identical to canon yk???anyways. have some King drawing attempts

i don't talk abt myosotis king very often mainly,,, because,,,, im so bad at drawing him it's AWFUL. I struggle a lot with like. Nonhuman characters/animals those are my weakness </3 i draw out alot of myosotis stuff so like.. If I can't draw it I usually just don't do much with it?. i do have like. I have this MASSIVE timeline detailing episodes for plots and character arcs and it's a whole thing. Very large project. yeah but king actually has clothes here bc Luz is like well this is a Child i can't let him be naked. Still trying to figure out the whole putting clothes over fur thing and if that's an issue but ya whatever. im terrible at designing outfits sighh. also instead of having the collar with his dad's symbol he and eda make matching friendship bracelets! and then those come into play in S3 bc i didn't forget about that unlike the show lmao. I have a Lot Of Content going on in this au and I looooove talking about it :]

I love swap aus because all of them are amazing. But I never see swap aus where it’s just Eda and Raine swapped. Like imagine that for a few moments. Like let’s say Lilith cursed Raine because she was jealous of them due to them taking up a lot of Eda’s time.(it’s late and im coming up for a blank of who else would curse them, maybe Terra to control them?). Then Eda tries desperately to help them but in the process pushes them away. Raine finding King while trying to escape the scouts. Them treating King like their kid immediately. Then Luz coming into their life and them teaching her bard magic. I’m sorry but no one making this au is a travesty

King in my Owl House AU. He is based heavily on Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls, though he is much more likely to be redeemed. King has been trapped in the Inbetween for thousands of years, and though he hasn't aged much due to the Inbetween functioning differently, his magic has been increasing in strength and he can conjure glyphs whenever he likes. This AU is partially a role swap AU, where King is swapped with the Collector, who is living with Lilith (swapped with Eda) and Amity (swapped with Luz) and has lost almost all their magic due to a past injury that also destroyed most of their memory. I will probably be posting a lot more about this AU because I draw a lot of stuff from it. Also it has a very different storyline than the actual show, as characters have their regular base personalities that are influenced by their life. The new glyph designs (except for the light glyph because that one is cannon) aren't definite. There are also a lot of memes about Tide detergent in this AU because of King's Tide.

Most swap aus I see are so boring they literally just switch the characters appearances around. I don't want to see the show/comic/book/whatever but character A looks like character B!!! I want to see what character B would do if they were in character A's position!!! Like, sure, switching around the characters circumstances would change their personalities but if they just completely BECOME the other character in all but appearance then what was the point in creating a swap AU in the first place?
