Gentle Hello | Andy x pregnant fem!reader
Tumblr media
Pairings: Andy x reader (romantic)
Type of fic: Fluff
Warnings: None
Summary: After coming back home from all the missions and responsibilities Andy’s eager to see her favourite girl and well actually… both her favourite girls
——————
It had been months since Andy had seen you—months of grueling missions, restless nights, and the itch to get back to you. The immortality she’d known for so long allowed her to keep going without rest, to endure all kinds of battles, but nothing ever compared to the ache of missing you.
When she finally arrived home, exhaustion clinging to her like armor she couldn’t shed, she moved quietly through the house, finding her way to your shared bedroom. There you were, resting with one hand draped protectively over your belly, looking as serene as ever. Even in your sleep, the faintest trace of a smile curved at your lips.
But Andy didn’t miss the telltale signs of fatigue—your shoulders looked tense, and there were small bags under your eyes. She sighed, softly shaking her head. You’d overworked yourself again.
As she gently sat beside you on the bed, you stirred, your eyes slowly opening to meet her gaze. “You’re home,” you whispered, a soft smile spreading across your face as you reached up to touch her.
“Yeah, I’m home,” she murmured, her hand brushing against your cheek. “But you’ve been overdoing it, haven’t you?” Her tone was gentle but laced with that familiar edge, a gentle scolding she reserved just for you.
“Maybe a little,” you admitted sheepishly, reaching down to rest your hand over hers as it moved to your belly. “I just wanted everything ready for you.”
Andy sighed, settling down between your legs, her hand still on your belly as she let herself relax, the worries and exhaustion melting away. Her gaze softened as she stared at the gentle swell of your stomach, awe glimmering in her eyes as she traced slow, careful circles with her fingers.
You chuckled, your hand coming to rest atop hers. “Hello to you, too. But you do realize you skipped saying hi to me altogether?”
A grin tugged at the corners of her mouth. “Hello, love.” She leaned up, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips before resuming her exploration of your belly with reverence. She traced little shapes and patterns—stars, flowers, and spirals—with an uncharacteristic gentleness that made you chuckle, guessing each one as her fingers brushed over your skin.
Suddenly, she froze, her eyes widening as she felt a soft but distinct movement under her hand—a tiny, tentative kick. She stilled, her breath catching as she looked up at you with something close to disbelief, a softness and wonder in her eyes she rarely showed to anyone else.
“She’s a little kicker already,” you whispered, watching the joy bloom across her face.
For a moment, she said nothing, her hand gently pressing down to feel the little pulse of life within you. Her walls melted away, and you saw her bare, open, vulnerable in a way she hadn’t been in centuries. The ancient warrior, the hardened immortal, was completely undone by the smallest of kicks.
“You’re amazing,” she finally murmured, her voice thick with emotion. She brought her lips down to your belly, placing the softest of kisses there, whispering quiet promises of love and protection to the tiny life inside you.
Nestled together, you drifted off, her hand still resting on your belly, your little family bound together by a love that had withstood centuries.

What could be sweeter than a sun-kissed cloud-chaser catching you in her stormy eyes? Leather and orange blossoms haunt my dreams.
Atop her saddle, her smile flashes from underneath the brim of her hat. Electric.
Hands calloused and dry in their grip around smooth leather reigns. Her mount confident and precise with every stomp of his hooves. You feel them in your chest. Thundering.
A nod and she’s off, crashing down the path after the sunrise. Leather tassels crack in the wind. Until hooves are worn and the horizon is gone. Endless.
Early spring is her favorite. Fresh life in every direction. Foggy citrus groves in bloom. Fawns and calves hidden in the wet grass. Pure.
You’ll only ever have her for a moment. Whispering western winds call her home to her people. She lingers, showering you with her affection, an all-consuming presence. Her chilled touch is the only thing that soothes your weary bones. Revitalizing.
There’s nothing quite like the aching thirst you carry in her absence. Any day she’ll break the horizon to rush back into your world, washing your worries away.

Of Current Contemporaries, Teasing Games and Dance
~ Just a short ficlet about two immortals on a night out! <1k, T, no warnings, fluff. Could be anything from pre to post canon ~
Read on Ao3 or continue reading here!
"Will you not dance with me?"
Quỳnh wraps her arms around Andromache's waist, startling her, she almost knocks over her glass from the bar.
"Quỳnh! I hadn't realized you've come back. Have you been dancing without me?"
"Yes, and tried to wave you over, as you'd have seen if you had not been staring into your drink for long minutes without pause..." She presses her nose against Andromache's neck, then her lips. "What has you so morose?"
Andromache sighs. "I cannot get used to this music," she mumbles, turning on the stool to pull Quỳnh into her arms. "It sounds wrong, the instruments aren't following the melody they should."
Quỳnh laughs, melodically and joyful. Andromache gives her a hurt look, but Quỳnh pecks her on the lips before Andromache can voice her betrayal.
"Oh, is it only that? I was concerned you had some actual worry. Oh, my Anh, you always say this, when you aren't used to the new tunes, and are afraid you won't be able to dance as well as you used to because of it. But love, no matter what new or awful music is playing, you are still more graceful than anybody else - but me, of course - so you needn't worry. Now, will you dance with me?"
"I liked it better when I was the one to interrupt you and tell you you are the most graceful," Andromache mutters, but she allows Quỳnh to pull her down and towards the dancefloor.
"Oh, but I knew you would use the opportunity to compliment me, so I only saved your breath and us both the time," Quỳnh says shamelessly, and Andromache has to laugh despite herself.
"You do know me too well."
"That I do, and that is why and how I know you will do well with this, and you will get used to the melodies by next week, and these will be the tunes you will be missing the next time they change in any big way... So, are you ready to believe me, or do I have to find another dancing partner?"
In reply, Andromache pulls her close and kisses her soundly, stifling Quỳnh's gasp with her lips and waiting for her flailing arms to wrap around her neck before she pulls her even closer, body heat noticeable through their clothes and her hand tangled in Quỳnh's hair.
"Ah! You will not have to look for any other partner than me and you know it," Andromache grins at Quỳnh's dazed face.
Quỳnh blinks, slowly licking her kiss-swollen lips, then walks backwards and tugs Andromache the last few steps towards the dancefloor, her eyes never leaving her face for a moment.
"Wicked woman," she murmurs, sliding her hands around Andromache's waist to curl her fingers around her belt. "But you know I can fight the same way, do you not?"
Andromache laughs, delighted by their game of seduction and words, variations of which they have played for more years than they bothered to count and which never grows old for them. Quỳnh is right, too, that she finds her footing in the rhythm of the dance quicker than she had thought, and none of the locals, these current contemporaries, give them odd looks except perhaps some founded in jealousy.
~
Hope you liked it!
If you made it this far, be so kind and please reblog so more people can see it ;)
I'm currently taking shortfic prompts, send me an ask if you have an idea for a ficlet!

Starting a Theme/Appreciation Event
A theme week (aka “appreciation week”) invites fans to celebrate a specific topic over a dedicated period of time, which may or may not be a week. Fandom creatives will either highlight existing works that fit the theme of the event or make new art and fic for this purpose. Read more about themed events here.
Tumblr media
Themed events are usually run through a dedicated tumblr sideblog. The organizer may come up with prompts for each day of the event and release them ahead of time, but the prompts are usually optional. The organizer commits to monitoring either the event hashtag, or the blog mentions, and reblogging works that are posted by other tumblr users related to the theme.
The organizer must plan the event in advance and make sure there is widespread awareness among their target pool of participants. This usually requires posting prompts early, making a simple graphic or banner, and advertising the upcoming event through friends and fandom groups.
Here is a framework to help build a new Themed Event!
1. Choose your Theme
Theme weeks come in a wide variety of subjects! They may be focused on a single character or relationship, or they may celebrate a broad topic, trope, or franchise entry.
Examples of subjects include:
A specific character ("Dorian" "Cullen" "Morrigan")
An interpretation of a character's sexuality ("Ace Cole" "Sub Solas" "WLW Cassandra")
A type of player character ("Mahariel" "Mage Hawke" "Templar Inquisitor")
A genre ("Romance" "Whump" "Fluff")
A culture or background ("Dalish" "City Elf" "Circle Mage" "Antivan" "Elvhenan" "Templar" "Tranquil")
A ship ("Zevwarden" "Solavellan" "Handers")
❓❓What if the subject already has an event that surrounds it❓❓
Whether there is already a Solavellan-centric exchange, or a Dorian Appreciation Month, we encourage fans to make more. It is nice to try to schedule around other events and avoid overlap, but sometimes this can't be helped. We here at @dragonagefanevents say the more fan events, the merrier! We aren’t in competition with each other: we are catering to our niche interests, schedules, and communities within this fandom. How you portray your advertising and comport yourself may invite criticism, but as always, how you comport yourself is up to you.
2. Choose your Timeline
The majority of theme weeks take place over the course of a week, or a month. Things to consider as you choose your timeline:
How long will you commit to monitoring & reblogging submissions?
How many prompts will you come up with?
How active is the targeted niche of fandom?
How much hype can you build beforehand?
How long are you capable of maintaining the hype?
You may wish to make a poll to figure out what timeline works best for your target participant pool!
3. Choose your Prompts
Most themed weeks/months put out prompts. These are short and vague, to allow the most interpretation and inspiration, and sometimes they are one word.
While prompts are optional, it is recommended that you do have prompts available. Many people will want to create something new for your event and appreciate guidelines or touchstones. It is really fun to see what so many different people will make based on the same prompt.
Appreciation weeks/months without prompts often see lower participation. People often feel uncomfortable promoting old work for a new, current fandom event, and there is an expectation that these events are for prompts! People want to make new things. Many events also do not promote old works! Therefore it can be difficult to advertise your event without prompts to go off of.
Consider: there is a whole genre of tumblr blogs out there (fyeah blogs, or characterappreciation blogs) dedicated to simply reblogging any content about that theme/character/ship/etc. What separates those blogs from a themed event is the prompts and the act of new creation.
Here are some example prompt lists:
▸ Sera Week 2024 ▸ 14 Days of DA Lovers ▸ Dalish Week 2022 ▸ 30 Days of Dorian
4. Put together a Brand
A brand is something that is easily recognized and quickly conveys a concept. Artistic, colorful, labor-intensive? Not necessarily.
Some easy ways to build a brand:
a consistent name that's easy to remember
a hashtag that is logically connected to the name
a consistent visual scheme that can be quickly associated with your name
▸ A Good Name
A good name is short, to the point, and says what you are: "30DaysofDorian" "SubSolasWeek" "SeraAppreciationWeek" - these all do the trick.
If you plan on running your event repeatedly, these kinds of names are enough. If it's just a one-off, consider adding the year to your name, such as "RylenAppreciationWeek2024." Think about it. If you are looking to organize an event these days, chances are fandom in 2015 ran one with that name once and there's a blog camping out on that name forevermore, inactive and dead. Do your fellow fans a favor and make it clear what year you are running the event so that if it's ever abandoned, they can pick up the torch with clarity.
▸ Graphics
1-3 colors; choose 1-2 fonts, in bold and normal font weight; choose, at most, 1 detailed image/screencap/motif. If you go overboard visually, it is easy to become cluttered.
It's nice to make a banner, either for your own blog header, or to also be used by people posting their works. Keep in mind the basic principles of graphic design, which you can always look up; the most basic rules related to typography are summarized in the image below (source).
Tumblr media
In your banner it should be clear: The Theme and The Timeframe
Your prompts should be available as plaintext in a post, but in order to actually catch people's attention as they scroll, it is best practice to make a simple graphic that contains your prompts. If you have a week of prompts, 7 prompts can easily fit on one graphic. If you have a whole month, it's recommended to split into more than one. The concern is that cramming 30 prompts into one graphic on tumblr will render them very small to people just scrolling by; if you break them up into two or three images, then (depending on some savvy organization in the post body itself) the prompts will all be visible at once at a good size.
Make sure your font is legible! It may be tempting to use a fancy swirly archaic font, but your goal is swift legibility for people scrolling by, and these decorative fonts never succeed.
If you are laying text over an image, it's a good idea to fade the background image out a bit. This can be done by changing the opacity, or by laying a semitransparent layer of color (or black or white) on top of the image, below your text. Contrast between your font and the background is important for legibility.
5. Begin Advertising
With your blog, name, hashtag, prompts, timeline, and graphics ready to go, it is time to start building hype. While it's fun for some people to make things on the fly in response to those prompts during that timeframe, you will get the best participation if you give people a chance to start creating things ahead of time. For a theme week, at least a month head start is usually adequate for interested parties. For a theme month with 30 days of prompts, at least two months leeway (minimum) will make sure you get participation. More time of course lets people make more, and more involved, work for your appreciation event.
▸ Make your blog known.
Start reblogging fan content related to your theme! For example, a Dorian theme event might go through and reblog fanart, gif sets, fanfiction and fan meta about Dorian. As you reblog from people in fandom, they will see your blog name and come take a look.
▸ Share the date and prompts.
Make a post with a clear title stating what the event is, your eye-catching but clean graphic, and the written version of those prompts + a description of the event. You may want to paraphrase an explanation from this post to educate new fans who may not know about theme weeks/months and creation events.
When you tag your posts, make sure you use very relevant tags. Tag spamming is frowned upon (tagging every single dragon age character, for example, when your event is focused on vivienne only, is annoying when you pop up in the main tag for those other characters). Only the first handful of tags on your post will catalogue it in the main tag on tumblr for discovery. Choose wisely! #dragon age #dragon age (origins, 2, or inquisition) #character name are always good places to start, as well as #dragon age fanfiction #dragon age fanart
Reblog your posts often! Self-reblogs are encouraged and widely tolerated in order to get word out there. Everyone understands. If you post once and never reblog it, you are failing to put your information in front of the eyes who may not have been awake when you posted it, or those who have a particularly cluttered dashboard. Self-reblog!! It's allowed!
▸ Make your rules clear.
You may want to combine this with your prompt post, or you may wish to keep them separate. Either way, be very clear about what content warnings you require (some events will not reblog NSFW, some will as long as it's tagged), whether you allow old works to be -re-advertised or not, and any other restrictions or requirements you fancy. Make sure that you are clear about what period of time you will be monitoring mentions/tags for new works to reblog, and when you will stop.
6. Run your Event
When the day arrives, make a kickoff post! What you include in this post is up to you. Generally hosts will reiterate the directions of how to mention/tag the works in order to catch your attention, and either link to or include the prompts themselves.
From then on, for the duration of the event, make sure to check the blog mentions, as well as the general tumblr tag you encouraged people to use for the event. Reblog the new works as consistently as you can.
7. Wrap Up
Congratulations! The final day has ended and your event is complete. You will want to thank participants. You will want to link to easy ways to peruse the new works - usually something like "check out https://myappreciationblog.tumblr.com/tagged/appreciationweek2024 " or something similar. If you opened an AO3 collection for themed works, make sure to link that. Basically, if anyone is late to the party, make it easier for them to enjoy the buffet you helped organize.
Pat yourself on the back for an event well-run. You may choose to run more in the future, keep the blog as a simple appreciation space, or retire from running events for a while. Whether your event was exploding with new works or resulted in only a handful, it doesn't matter. You made a little space on tumblr to appreciate this theme, and it didn't exist before. :) And that's what this is all about.

netflix is actually ridiculous like the amount of promo shadow and bone is getting is actually insane like there’s a new character poster - posted individually rather than in one multi-post - like every five minutes and they’ve released so many sneak peaks and interviews and had this whole huge premiere that they’re posting every two seconds… and the old guard 2 gets literally nothing
this isnt a jab at shadow and bone (im super excited for the new series!!) just a comparison to show that when netflix gives a shit they actually can advertise their projects they’re just wilfully neglecting TOG. three points to anyone who can guess why based on netflix’s brilliant track record with wlw media
that tudum segment was literal scraps of content, and at a time when they definitely had more content that they just chose not to show, and THEN it doesn’t get released in its own video as basically every other segment was. then they post about TOG in a valentine’s article being like ‘watch this movie before the sequel comes out’. bold of them to assume anyone is even aware of this sequel outside the fandom since they’re literally telling no one about it.
the movie is supposed to come out this year and this is all the info we’ve got. insanely ridiculous. and if it’s pushed back, alright, at least tell us?? genuinely mad about this 24/7 at this point the people behind the making of this film and the community around it deserve better
tldr: netflix’s lack of anything related to the old guard sequel is infuriating and im sad about it

netflix's horrible reputation re: wlw characters & relationships has me terrified about TOG 2, tbh. i truly believe we'll see one of these 2 options:
andromaquynh is canonically established as having a romantic past - because of this, netflix essentially "buries" it with next to zero promo (thus guaranteeing that it flops) and blames it on the diversity of the cast/director
OR
andromaquynh ISN'T canonically established as romantic in any way; Uma's character was invented to take focus away from andy and quynh's tense dynamic and history. when netflix does finally promote the film (and it still won't be anywhere near close to the campaign they did for Extraction 2), they'll focus on Uma and Charlize almost exclusively. sapphic fans who are rightfully angry about the erasure of andy/quynh are condescendingly told to "calm down" because it isn't a direct adaptation of the 2nd comic, and the focus of the entire film is the ramped-up action not romance.
i hope i'm wrong, but netflix is evil and predictable and i've seen all of this happen before.
Hey nonny,
I share the exact same feelings. On the one hand Netflix is the only streaming services i trust with lgbtq representation, on the other hand I have huge trust issues when I see how they treat LGBTQ people in their major shows.
TOG 2 has a lack of promo and updates anyway, for.... unknown reasons? (If somebody knows more about the complete radio silence, please let me know). I actually think Andys queer love story will be in there, but downplayed, shown only shortly and not mentioned in the promo at all. So I am mostly agreeing on your second point. The promo for Extraction 2 was HUGE, never saw something like that for a Netflix movie like that before, here in Germany. And Charlize is nearly equally famous but Netflix treats TOG like a second class human being. Which is honestly so weird?!
Imo they will drop TOG 2 without any promo, blame it on WGA and SAG Aftra and cancel the whole thing. For some reasons they were never really fond of TOG-movie anyway, and thats the perfect opportunity for them to get rid of it. I would just love to know WHY they can not stand TOG

There is something to be said about Sjm's portrayal of LGBT+ when we consider that:
The closer we had to a main character having a WLW relationship was when Dorian shapeshifts into a woman to make out with Manon (I can't be the only one who noticed this)
The times bisexuality is brought up it's only to mention how many people these characters had slept with (Mor, Aedion, Helion...)
Emerie is being clued to like women while she's one of the two only WoC relevant in the story (she's also never described as being beautiful, is a victim of domestic abuse... just saying)
In ToG we have like 12 characters with POVs, most of them are white and every single one of them ends up in straight relationships even tho quite a few of them are queer coded
Also in ToG the one (1) MlM relationship I remember is between two side characters in HoF who work in the kitchens and if I'm not mistaken one of them has a pig as an animal form (please correct me if I'm mistaken)
I think there's a WlW relationship in CC between two side characters (again, one of them is a WoC) but I haven't read the books yet, and there are two witches of the Thirteen who have a thing (Thea and Kaya)
Also a little weird since people from ToG don't seem to have any problems with same-sex relationships and it is mentioned a lot of times
So, there's something to be said for sure, I just can't write a connection between all these things yet.
Edit: Dorian and Manon didn't fully make out, they just had a very sexually charged exchange while he was shapeshifted as a woman (fantom hands were involved)

It’s not that the T0G fandom is calmer, it’s that it’s not as active because it’s a finished series. But back in its hey day, it was just as toxic as the ACOTAR fandom, if not more so because LB and Morgan Rhodes stans were also involved. if SJM still plans on doing that TOG encyclopedia thing, where she said she’d throw in what the characters were doing after the end of the series, bet you’ll see it. But when people called out the racism, especially after what happened to Nehemia and then to Sorcha just one books later, they were bullied for it. When people called out the homophobia because there were only TWO gay characters in three and half books, they were bullied for it. When SJM assassinated Chaol’s character for Rowan and switched the endgame ship from Doraelin to Rowaelin and people were upset about it and calling it out for bad writing, they were bullied for it. When people called out how Malide was perfectly set up, only for them to forced into relationships with men, and after it was exposed that SJM would roll her eyes whenever someone asked about them at an event and after she said there would be a wlw ship in the book after qos aka the book with malide in it, only for it to be about a throwaway sentence about Manon’s grandmother, they were bullied for it.
SJM’s fandom has always been toxic because she’s the one who makes it that way. It will never get better until SJM acknowledges her own hypocrisy and that what she’s written has been harmful, but since she even refuses to take questions about these things, it’s never going to happen.
Big yiiiiiiikes!!! I didn't know she'd said there'd be a wlw ship. That's so pathetic to use that, knowing it will hook readers who want to see representation and then get a throwaway sentence... and wasn't her grandmother an absolutely terrible person?!
I've only read tog once but isn't aedion mentioned to be bisexual but then has no interest in any males in the story?
