Hello! I hope you are well‼️ These days I was looking at the haikyuu manga and I caught myself thinking about Kageyama's match with Hoshiumi, when Hoshiumi jumps Kageyama smiles, but I can't interpret what he wanted to do with That. Could you help me?😭
omg i'm so so sorry for the late reply aaa 😭😭😭😭 could you send the manga panel you're talking about?? is it when kageyama plays with or against hoshiumi?
if we're talking about the panel where kageyama sees hoshiumi spiking for the first time, i interpret his tiny smile as a way to show that he isn't scared of his skills but rather excited to learn more from him and his jumps! as kageyama himself admitted, hoshiumi is a great "reference" so tobio can improve by watching him play; also, i believe he immediately thought about a new way for hinata to jump after seeing this, that's why after meeting hinata again, kageyama says that he can fly even higher than the little giant he met at the training camp.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as always, kageyama is happy playing against the strongest, but also because he can grow stronger! he learns new techniques not only for himself, but also to help his teammates (especially hinata) to soar high as they become masters of aerial battles together 💙🧡

PRETTY FACE, BAD HABITS.
Tumblr media
ft: Atsumu Miya, Tōru Oikawa, Tobio Kageyama, Shōyō Hinata, & Kei Tsukishima.
warnings: smut, afab!reader, daddy kink (atsumu), spanking, fingering, praise kink (oikawa), degradation, alcohol consumption (shōyō), cunnilings, enemies to lovers, small mentions of squirting, they’re lowk a lil filthy and obsessed MUNCH!shōyō bc definitely learned things in Brazil, coffee shop trope.
note: rereading hq, I am incredibly unwell and the volleyball pixels won’t leave me alone. Divider by @grlselle !!!
Thinking about gorgeous boys with pretty faces to the media who are so sadistic behind closed doors.
It goes without saying that setters are the notorious kings of this trope. Given that their charming faces tend to hide a fundamental need to be in control, constantly calling the shots n’ all. The facade cracks behind closed doors.
ATSUMU MIYA ... 4/10, not that shocking. He’s the face of MSBY, the golden boy. He’s got far more acceptable social skills than his other teammates: Shōyō, Kiyoomi, and Kōtarō, he knows how to handle himself in an interview. Flashing a toothy smile here, winking in a fan photo there. He has the hottest face in volleyball.
However, you had to have known about his silver tongue. It’s how he coaxes round after sadistic round out of you.
His stamina is much better than yours and to that he takes full advantage, being a pro-athlete has its perks. The downside is, his pretty face betrays the filth that spews from his maw when you fuck. “Yeah baby, think this messy pussy can give daddy another?”
He’s deplorable — that’s exactly why you keep crawling under him — the vileness you can only find there. “Y-yes, please ‘tsumu!” but woefully, it just isn’t enough for him, ever. He takes care of your trivial needs while chasing his own blissful completion.
“Ah ah baby, it’s daddy when I’m fuckin’ this cunt. Just hear how wet it is for me, fuck angel.” It’s humiliating, hot tears spilling past your lashes as his muscular thighs ram him impossibly further in you. You’re certain he’s in your cervix now.
“Shit — tight n’ creamy too,” he moans, “Feels so good on my cock.” He’s focused, a thin layer of sweat making his platinum blond hair stick to his forehead, eyebrows drawn together in concentration trying to feel everything you can offer him.
It drives you insane how he spoils you with unforgiving pleasure, never shy of showing just how bad he wants you. “Be daddy’s good girl and jus’ take it for me, yeah?”
And with a slap of your ass, he’s back to full speed, fucking you right up the mattress.
TŌRU OIKAWA … 8/10, a sleeping giant, don’t poke the bear. He was your summer fling, making you bubble with excitement and frenzy. His gorgeous face and native tongue were foreign to you but you recognized him from high-level volleyball matches on the news now and then.
Tōru was distinctly filled with passion, in everything he did you could feel it. He was a proud man through and through with a lust for victory.
That’s why he’s such a sadistic fuck, he’s too proud to stop even after he’s came inside you thrice. “Go on princess tell me, whose fingers can make you cum like this?” It’s those hands, those damn fingers you melt on every time he’s knuckled deep inside your sopping heat.
“Yours Tōru, only yours!” He’s peeled back every last restraint on your sanity with his body, reducing you to a tearful sticky mess pooling in his lap.
“I know mami, I know. You have to prove it to me though, show me how much you love it,” he muses rhetorically. His chin rests on your shoulder to get the best view of his practiced digits disappearing in and out of your tight sex; just how you like, just how you need. Those seasoned setter hands are a blessing.
“Ah! oh god — I’m, m’cumming— Tōru,” your chest heaves in his strong arms as he holds you there, letting you freely use and cream on his hands. He’s just so proud that he can make you feel good, so he’ll keep doing it. Over and over again.
“Look at you, my little slut. Just can’t help yourself from cumming all over me, hm?” The squelch of his three thick fingers and your slick coats his hand and your thighs alike.
TOBIO KAGEYAMA … 7/10, delving deeper, it makes sense. On the surface and to your friends and family, Tobio was your good boy. A perfect husband who was very successful in his career, and able to provide for you. People would remark on how starkly different your personalities were, the tabloids even going as far as questioning his feelings towards you.
But you know he loves you when he’s jackhammering your cunny like a rabbit. His brain only knows two things, volleyball and then all his other primal instincts. “Gonna fuck you till you’re sore, you hear me?”
He’s pushed your drooling face into the mattress to deepen your arch, greedy to feel more of your pussy suck him like candy. “You think I don’t see the way you watch me whore,” it’s like he’s punishing you with each grueling stroke of his thick cock inside you. “That’s exactly why you’re getting fucked like one. A dirty, cock-hungry, whore.”
That polite well-mannered man, a simple facade for something more sinister. They mistake his introversion for shyness when in reality he’s most likely self-censoring. He’s not much of a people person and lives a secluded life.
But all throughout his private practice today you plagued him with this singular thought: Kageyama craves it to no end, your utter and total obedience to him. He’s used to controlling his spikers, but you? You bring out an entirely new sadistic side of him. His one track mind learning every inch of your body fast.
“Stop! it’s t’much,” you cry into the sheets, overwhelmed by his sheer power. It feels like he’s deep in your guts with every strong piston of his hips against your ass. The sound of skin slapping against skin fills your ears making your brain fuzzy.
“Maybe you should think about that next time you try and tease me,” he knows you want it exactly like this. You rile him up to get a rise out of him, pushing him to his limits and beyond. Exactly how he likes it.
He snakes a hand in between your warm connected bodies, pressing his palm over the outline of himself nestled in your tummy. “Remember how my dick feels inside you right now,” and he smirks feeling you tighten up around him.
You’re so incredibly plaint to a guy like him. His perfectly tuned toy.
With middle blockers, it’s different. They just want to watch you submit. Whether they’re reading the court, blocking, or killing the ball; it gives them an indistinguishable thrill to bring something to its knees deliberately.
SHŌYŌ HINATA … 11/10, virtually undetectable thus making him the most dangerous. When you met him, you found him to be a bit too big for his britches. He was such a sweet guy nonetheless, buying your drinks and slotting a friendly arm around your waist that night.
It felt good to have his attention, those dark brown eyes analyzing your every jiggle and jive. For some reason that night no one else seemed to approach you, perhaps it was due to the fact that #21 of Asas São Paulo had his eye on you.
“Do you wanna come home with me,” you ask him smooth as silk, carding your nails in his short ginger locks. He purs in response, groaning at the sensation and grinding himself against the thin cloth of your club dress.
He’s deceptive, but it’s not on purpose. “Please mami.” He just needs you to know how badly he wants you. Do you not realize he’s everything you need? No matter, he’ll show you.
“Mhhhm, more Shō,” you breathe life into his name like it’s a prayer, supple thighs caging his face to keep him planted there between them. It’s not like he’s going anywhere though, lips suckling on your sweetness as he lifts your ass off the bed to get a better taste.
His mouth does things you didn’t know it could do, massaging your pillowy folds before diving tongue first into your wet slit. It was making you feel hot watching him as he watched you, intent on making you buck against him for more.
He welcomes it, grinding his raging boner into the mattress and groaning into your pussy. “So fucking sexy when you do that baby, drives me crazy,” he says through kisses with your swollen clit.
That same sweet guy is nowhere to be found as there's an insatiable monster between your legs that you willingly invited into your home. “Keep goin’ love, wanna make this sweet pussy squirt.” You’re his, hook line, and sinker.
ps: don’t worry, after this, he’ll go three more rounds with just his cock alone and you better be able to handle it.
KEI TSUKISHIMA … 9/10, only triggered if you can get him to open his big mouth. He was a quiet man. Stoic as he sat in the same chair, in the same corner, at the same café, every day at exactly 6 am.
He may have been the most beautiful person you’d ever seen. Well dressed with fair skin, golden eyes, and blond hair that made him stand out amongst the other patrons. Not to mention the fact he was ginormous, making the cafe chairs almost look like stools as he quietly checked his email. From over your shoulder, you watch him adjust his glasses, opting to look from afar but not touch.
It seems he doesn’t give you the chance though, approaching you as your heart beats loudly in your chest. He’s even more gorgeous as he grows close. His skin smooth like marble matches the stiffness of his face. “You seem to have a staring problem.”
At first, Kei thought you might have been a Frogs fan. That's the only possible excuse he could muster. Then he began to notice the lingering stares as well.
Excuse me— Did you just hear him correctly? You certainly didn’t mean him any harm, if anything it was a compliment. “And you seem to have an attitude problem, doesn’t seem like much can help that though. Goodbye,” you practically scoff before returning to your book and good coffee. What an arrogant fucking jerk.
Before he leaves, he drops a small piece of paper next to your cup. “Have a nice day, miss stalker,” you huff under your breath unfolding the small slip. ‘Maybe you can fix me. xxx-xxx-xxxx'
Since then, the only thing you two seem to do is argue. Especially when he’s stuffed eight inches deep in you from behind, “giving me so much attitude when you just needed a good fuck.” Him and that big fucking mouth, he must love hearing himself talk.
“if you wanted to get fucked like a slut then you could have just said so, brat.” He sneers, spanking you with considerable force behind his meaty palm. You’re Keis’ good girl, of course you can take it. He's trained you to do so.
“Sh-shut up and just fuck me Kei,” he loves when you talk to him like that, using his name like you own it. You’re wrapped around his finger as he bullies his girth into you.
“How can I when this greedy cunt’s not letting me go?” He’s right, within these four walls you’re his as you clench around him even tighter. “You can’t even fit all this,” he’s just inexplicably sexy, condescending yet so giving as he angles himself forward into the plush of your ass.
Pleasing you is an art to him, a deliberate one that he studies to get the best results. It’s brutal how fat his dick is, it matches his brash personality. “Go on, cum.” He says with sheer confidence.
Seconds later you’re unraveling before him as if it was pre-meditated. Like he instinctively knew when it was going to occur, permitting you before the act.

Hi, I saw that your reqs are open and that also do multiple character headcanons so I was wondering if you do one on how they (Daichi, Tsukishima, Kageyama and Kuroo) would be like with an s/o who's never been in a relationship before, pls and thank you have a great day!! :) (sorry if in any way this was rude or if you're not feeling motivated to do this, that's ok, this is my first time requesting)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— Summary: Him with a partner who has never been in a relationship.
— Characters: Kageyama, Tsukishima, Daichi, Kuroo.

Tumblr media
Kageyama Tobio
If you're insecure because this is your first relationship, don't worry, because it's probably Kageyama's first too.
He's so focused on volleyball that he doesn't stop to think about that kind of thing, but that all changes when he meets you.
There were times when he had just made a small interaction with you, such as a question about a school project, or even a simple good morning, and that alone was enough to make you stay in his mind for the rest of the day.
So it's obvious that when you started dating, you were the one who prevailed in his head that only had room for volleyball.
In addition to the thousand concerns about how he should act in a relationship, since he has absolutely no experience on the subject.
He's probably the type of person who Googles "how to act in a relationship" or "top 10 best dates to have with your partner".
Hinata once caught him watching a video about how to kiss someone, and it's no exaggeration to say that it became a joke among his circle of friends...💀
Tobio would definitely be very shy with any kind of physical affection, and even with words depending on which one you say.
He would be as red as a tomato when you planted a kiss on his cheek before an important match, or when you complimented his appearance or skills.
You both would probably panic as you both don't know how to act in a relationship.😭
Tsukishima Kei
Just like Kageyama, he's also probably never been in a relationship before, although he is much less nervous and can be very clever at dealing with things he are not exactly familiar with.
As much as he (probably) have many admirers, he was never interested in that kind of thing, thinking that there are many other things to worry about.
So he really doesn't know how you captivated him so much, and no matter how much he doesn't show it, you really had a huge effect on him.
Which left the boy frustrated for a few days, but then accepted it thinking that the feelings would pass with time.
But now that you're dating, he's sure he won't be able to put those feelings aside, not when his heart skips a beat every time he sees you smile.
Upon hearing that this would be your first time dating someone, he would definitely tease you a little with his sarcastic words, so be prepared.😭
But then he wouldn't care about that detail and would say that "you don't need to worry about those things", trying to reassure you in his own way.
He's the type who wants to take things in his own time, so he's not worried if you're not ready for your first kiss yet, or if you're still too nervous about physical touches, he will always be waiting for you.
And this also applies to him, after all, he is someone who doesn't open up to others easily, so it may take a while for him to show all the love he feels for you.
Daichi Sawamura
Unlike his first-year teammates, Daichi has probably been in a relationship before, he is the type that had few people, but lasted a long time.
So it can be said that he has a certain experience.
He wouldn't be worried about this being your first relationship, quite the opposite, he would love to do his best to make you comfortable, he would certainly be someone very kind to you.
Daichi would be SO affectionate with you, like, shyly intertwine his hand with yours, give you the most cozy hugs you've ever felt.
When he is with you, he feels like it is his first time in a relationship too. You have an inexplicable effect on him, he blushes like a fool every time you manage to show him your love.
He would worry a lot if you were insecure because you didn't have experience in this matter, so he would always make sure you knew how much he likes you.
The greatest gentleman you will ever meet!!
He will never pressure you to do something you don't want to do, and he will always be patient with you if you are the type who doesn't open up easily to others.
And he will always love giving you gifts and saying with words how special you are to him.
Kuroo Tetsurou
He certainly has the most experience on this subject. And this is certainly NOT trying to bring out his fanon personality!!!
His appearance is undoubtedly breathtaking, which has already made him attract several people and enter into a relationship. In addition to making many people think he is the womanizing type.
However, they last very little, as their partners don't take long to realize that his appearance doesn't match his personality at all.
The truth is that he is anything but that. His flirtations/jokes are something that no one (mostly) can understand, he's a great gentleman and wouldn't do anything until the time was right, in addition to that he provokes others with the intention of irritating them, and not to try to seduce🧍‍♀️
He fits the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover" very well.
Kuroo would NEVER do anything that made you uncomfortable in any way!! He wouldn't be upset if it took longer for you to show him affection, as long as you were okay, he wouldn't worry about anything else.
His heart races every time you take the initiative to show physical affection, be it a hug, a clasp of hands, even a kiss if you feel more confident. He thinks you're the cutest thing when you ask if you can kiss him, with a super apparent blush on your cheeks.
You can be sure that he would introduce you to everyone on the volleyball team!! He really wants you to get along with everyone and vice versa.

@69doing
omg hi yes ofc !! thank you for requesting :) (sorry for the delay)
“Urges” part 2 (the aftermath)
prt 1
“Lemme take care of you”
Contains: Timeskip! Kageyama Tobio x female reader, fluff, like so much yearning, Kageyama doesn’t know how to act, smut at the end
warning: smut, oral sex (male receiving), slight dom reader (barely), sub(ish) Kageyama, inexperienced Kageyama
The sound of sneakers against a wooden gym floor and volleyballs smacking into the ground was a sound you had gotten used to. You had been team manager for Schweiden Alders for the past year, and you practically heard the sounds of the sport in your sleep.
Your feet felt heavy as you dragged them past the double doors to drop off the paperwork you finished earlier that morning to the coach.
After the night you had, you were less than happy to be preparing for the upcoming match, the soreness in your upper legs still prevalent. You would’ve done anything to stay cuddled up next to Tobio for a minute longer.
You hear a few snickers as you enter the gymnasium, but you’re too tired to pay it any mind. From across the net, Tobio follows your frame as you walk, memorized by how your hips sway.
His teammate snorts at his dazed reaction, even the coach chuckling. Purplish marks were peaking out from Kageyama’s uniform, and the scratches on his back were more than enough for the locker room to congratulate him.
Still, he kept his lips shut about who he possibly could’ve slept with on the three days they’ve been in the hotel for. He wanted to keep you to himself.
The idea of another guy thinking about you in that way was enough to permanently etch a scowl into his face.
However, the slight wobble in your step and your managers jacket zipped up all the way to cover your neck was more than suspicious.
Besides, even though the boys were lucky enough to get their own rooms this time, they were still all next to each other. And you weren’t exactly quiet last night.
You try to avoid Tobio’s eye. This morning, you both had agreed to keep it between yourselves, not wanting to risk either of your positions.
(He had nodded, sleep still clinging to him as he listened to you. Your head was on his bare chest and he was playing with your hair.)
Tobio wasn’t holding up his part of the deal very well. You could practically feel his eyes on you at all times as they warmed up.
To your ignorance, he had always looked at you like that.
It wasn’t out of the ordinary for Tobio to be looking at you with more emotion than he gave a single other person in the world, but you didn’t know that.
Ten minutes to lining up, you were handing out water bottles to the boys. Your hand shook a little handing Tobio his, a new nervousness around him. For the first time all day, you looked up at him.
You found yourself smiling softly at him, fingers brushing yours just a second too long. You turned away, handing the next water bottle to the next teammate.
A part of Tobio’s brain stopped, the curve of your smile and the glint of your eyes washing over him.
After the game, the boys were just as rowdy in the locker room as they always were. The caption, the oldest member on the roster, clapped Kageyama’s back as he walked by.
“Man, I never thought I’d see the day.” He said, a true sense of pride in his words.
“W-what are you talking about?” Kageyama’s voice cracked before he cleared his throat.
“You and y/n!” Another teammate cheered.
“You’ve been ogling her for years.” The caption agreed.
In a few seconds, Kageyama’s entire team was surrounding him in a huddle, congratulating him while he desperately attempted to deny it.
By the time the rest of the team had shuffled out of the locker room to make their way to the bus that would shuttle them back to the hotel, Tobio was flushed pink.
After he washed his face twice, he couldn’t shake the tinge in his cheeks. Even before last night, the thought of you alone made him half hard. Now, with the sight replaying in his mind whenever he blinked, he’d been painfully hard for the whole day.
He contemplated jerking off right then and there, but he decided to wait until he got back.
Eventually, he exited the locker room, almost barreling into you.
“Oh! Uh, sorry.” Tobio’s expression lit up.
“It’s okay.” You giggled, your jacket was off now, a purple mark peaking from behind your hair. “I was wondering if you wanted to grab dinner?”
“Like, with me?” He asked, a bit surprised.
“Yes, Tobio, with you.” You smiled at his nerves.
Not trusting his voice, he nodded shyly, completely embarrassed by how bashful he had became. Luckily, you found it endearing.
“Takeout and a movie okay?” Your smile was growing the deeper his blush got.
“Yeah.” He said quietly. “Sounds good.”
“Be at my room in an hour.” You called over your shoulder, walking away.
Tobio didn’t move for a few minutes, just standing while staring at the ground with a dumbfounded expression. (He almost missed the bus).
“You shouldn’t have paid.” Tobio scowled as he finished the food you bought, placing the container in the trash.
“Well, I wanted to.” You argued, legs crossed on your bed.
He slid 10,000 yen across the sheets, but you just scoffed and slid it back to him. He tried to return it, but you pushed it right back.
“You are so annoying.” Tobio said, but there was an amusemed smirk on his face.
“Wow.” You said sarcastically. “I liked you better when you were too scared to speak.”
“I wasn’t scared.” He crossed his arms.
“Uh, absolutely yes you were.”
“I was not.”
“Were too.”
Tobio retorts by taking one of the pillows from beside him and throwing it at your head. You catch it before it can hit you, launching at him.
He falls on his back, hands gripping your waist for stability. You settle on his lap, shoving the pillow in his face as you laugh.
He blindly grabs your wrists, turning you on your back when he wraps his fingers around them. The pillow slides off, and your met with Tobio’s eyes peering into yours.
You smile melts into a smirk when you readjust your hips, feeling Tobio grow on top of you. His prior confidence falls, red creeping up his neck as you spread your legs under him.
“Aw, there he is.” You coo, trailing a hand up his crewneck. You cup his cheek, running a thumb along his jawline.
You nod at him, as if telling him “yes, you can kiss me” and he obliges. Your hands move to his hair, your nails tracing his scalp. His breathe halts at the feeling, giving you the opportunity to slip your tongue past his lips.
His hips rut into yours, and you wrap your legs around him in response. You continue to kiss him while pushing him up, now sitting in his lap.
His hands slide down your back, settling just below your hips, fingers barely grazing your ass.
“Lemme take care of you.” You mumble into his lips, rubbing the tip of his dick through his sweatpants.
“You don’t have to if you don’t-”
“I want to.” You cut him off, kissing his ear.
You move your body back slightly, pushing him so he’s lying down. You’re in between his legs, hands gripping his thighs. Kissing down his chest, you push his shirt up to touch his torso, pushing his pants off.
There’s a spot of dampness in his boxers, and you’re reminded of how impressively big he is (like you forgot).
You kiss him through his boxers, licking the spot of his precum that seeped through. Tobio lets out a deep breath as he curses at the feeling, his hands finding your hair.
He doesn’t push your head towards him or tug on your hair, instead he caresses your head, tucking a strand out of your face.
You look up at him. His face is flushed and his hair is a bit messy, his eyes are half lidded and he’s smiling at you helplessly.
You pull his boxers down as he lifts his hips to aid you with it. They aren’t even halfway down his legs before you’re licking the precum off of his tip.
Tobio whimpers.
It’s quiet, but you hear it. It sends an almost primal response in you, warmth flooding to your core. You trail your tongue down his dick, desperate to hear the sound again.
Tobio bites his lip, swallowing a moan. You stop, closing your mouth and sitting up. His brows crease, worrying he’s done something wrong that caused you to stop.
“Don’t do that.” You say simply, parting his lips with your thumb.
He nods, a bit dumbly. You kiss his lips briefly before shifting back down, a slight arch in your back.
You suck gently on the tip, swirling your tongue around it before taking him as far down as you can.
He’s thick, and it almost hurts how he’s stretching your mouth. Still, the noises you’re pulling from him are worth it.
He’s withering under you, cursing under his breath and letting out the sluttiest sounds. You alternately between licking up his dick and engulfing him fully, tugging at him whenever you needed a break.
“I can’t last, ‘m sorry.” He whines after a few moments, gasping as you hallow your cheeks.
You squeeze his thigh in reassurance, taking him deep as he finishes in your mouth. It was more than you expected, some spilling out of your mouth and pooling with your spit by his pubes.
He twitches as jumbled words of affirmation fall from his lips, and you swallow as much as you can.
You pull off as he catches his breath, grabbing a tissue from the nightstand and wiping him off. He sits up with his elbows, watching you with a soft grin.
“Are you okay?” You ask.
“Mhm.” Tobio pushes you onto him, one hand hugging your waist while the other caressed your cheek. He kissed your forehead, then your temple.
“You did so good, pretty.” Tobio praises.
You kiss the tip of his nose tenderly, smiling at him. He lowers his head to kiss you, sighing into your mouth.
You adjust your hips to kiss him more comfortably, pulling back when you feel him. “How are you hard again already?”

kageyama tobio x fem reader tobio is fascinated by your hands and wrists. warning(s): nsfw, slight yandere kageyama, size kink, bruising mention
Tumblr media
kageyama never thought about what he looked like until his professional career started. it wasn’t until his teammates started teasing him about the fans who started paying attention to him because of his appearance, and it really never cemented anything important into his volleyball-obsessed mind until kuroo had brought it up.
he had only responded with a calm statement that he was aware that his fans found him hot. it wasn’t meant to be smug or conceited, but it did make him a bit more cognizant about appearances. not just his, but yours as well.
specifically, the differences between your body and his. he was used to being surrounded by big burly athletes on the regular that coming home to someone like you has made him take note a bit more of the small things. like how much softer your body feels when he holds you as you sleep, or even the way your eyes crinkle up as you smile at him before he leaves for work, his cheeks still tingling from where you kissed him goodbye.
but there’s something else about you that kageyama’s noticed thoroughly. something so trivial and everyday that it’s almost weird to him that the thought has lodged itself so deep inside his mind.
it’s your hands.
he loves thinking about them in contrast to his. he’s never thought about his hands either, at least outside of his professional needs, too much. they’re his lifeline; without them, he could never dream of playing volleyball. he takes care of his hands as needed: he massages them, stretches them, and does everything his medical and managerial team tells him to do.
his palms are adorned with callouses, the layers of hardened skin and muscle built up over a lifetime of dedication to his sport. they’re nothing like the average layman’s hands, far more tattered, always rebuilt, constantly pushing further beyond what he thinks will be enough.
“t-tobio!” you sound so small, so weak to him. it drives kageyama wild. it awakens something primal in him, something that makes him want to rip you to shreds in every way possible.
your thighs shake around his waist, your toes curling into his creaking mattress. his hips keep ramming into you, his cock thrusting wildly up into your drenched cunt. you don’t know how long he’s kept this brutal pace up—all you can make out is the wild look in his eyes and his sweat-drenched body, fucking into you as if he’s gone into heat.
“fuuuuuuck-,” his voice is low and drawn out, the guttural noise coming from somewhere deep in his throat. his adam’s apple bobs when he swallows thickly, and his shaking eyes are blown open wide as he drinks in the sight of you folded underneath him.
your wrists are unbelievably smooth. he grips at them with one hand, easily pinning them over your head and pinning you down underneath him. his thumb runs over the soft flesh of your wrists, and his cock twitches dangerously inside you when he can feel the lively thrum of your veins underneath.
you wince when his grip on your wrists tighten. your stomach lurches and twists into knots as kageyama pounds into you, every inch of his swollen cock burying into your tight hole. “you’re being so rough…! so rough- you’re so deep inside me!”
“good,” he drawls. he draws his hips back and snaps them at a harsh angle. heat floods your heavy head, and it makes your back arch involuntarily. “i know you can take it. you’ve taken me like this before.”
kageyama thinks you look absolutely ravishing. your hands, your pretty wrists, are just so small when they’re held captive under his palm. your tits bounce every time he fucks his cock deep into you, and the knot that coils inside of his abs drives him insane. you’re just so pretty, and kageyama is obsessed with you. he knows he’s someone that enjoys a lot of international attention given his successful career, but when you’re thrown into the mix, he feels less like the handsome setter people know him to be and more like a hormonal teenage boy that’s popping a boner after looking at his class crush.
except this time, you’re actually folded underneath him, all for him to lavish his attention onto.
pleasure flashes behind your eyes, shooting straight to your brain. your legs are shaky and numb. the sheets underneath you are wet and damp, all thanks to kageyama holding you in this mating press position for what felt like eternity, fucking you over and over until both of your orgasms were making a mess. your thighs are sticky, the remnants of your own juices and spurts of his white cum staining your skin.
you can’t think past the overstimulation buzzing in your mind. there’s something mounting inside your guts, and it throbs. it has a pulse of its own, craving so much more of kageyama’s body. you want him to fill you up with more of his cum, to stuff your womb full, to have him break you body and soul, for him to indulge in that awful greedy part of him that can’t seem to get enough of you.
“tobio- tobio, please-,” you beg. you know how intense he can get, especially when he’s staring down at you more like prey than a human, and your pussy unconsciously clenches around him. he groans under his breath, but his gaze on you doesn’t waver. “it’s too much- you’re too much, tobio!”
“it’s your fault.” a line of sweat trickles down his face, and a bead of it dangles from the tip of his nose. you’re acutely aware of every muscle in his body: the edge of his pecs, his toned abs, the pretty v-lines on his stomach that lead you down into his long dick, ramming into you. every part of him was made to torture you lovingly like this, morphing you from his picture perfect girlfriend into a toy made to serve only his pleasure.
“ah-! haah- you’re going to kill me- please, ‘m gonna cum again! i can’t- i can’t cum anymore-,” you sob pathetically. you whimper and squirm to no avail as his hips keep grinding up against you. his length slides in and out of you with little resistance, your own wetness providing him the right amount of lubrication for kageyama to mold your hole into the perfect shape of his cock.
“it’s all your fault,” he repeats. he sounds downright animalistic and cold. “it’s all because of how pretty you are. walking around in shorts with your bare legs out, rubbing your eyes when you’re tired, flashing me your tits when you get out of the shower… it’s like you want me to fuck you.”
a strangled cry escapes you, and the sound goes straight to kageyama’s cock. your face twists in pleasure again, and kageyama’s determined to rip another orgasm straight from your cunt. the pressure around your wrist spikes, his nails digging into you. the flash of pain that shoots through your eyelids grounds you a little, but not before his obscene thrusts grow faster.
his other hand clutches the headboard, and your pussy throbs when you hear how forcefully the headboard crashes into the wall. kageyama’s being uncharacteristically rough with you, and the sound of the bed moving with his thrusts spins inside your head.
slam.
“‘m gonna make you feel so good,” he mutters.
slam.
“you feel good, don’t you?” his knuckles whiten as he grips the headboard.
slam.
“‘m gonna make you cum. gonna use that pussy of yours and make myself cum too,” he pants. “that sounds good. i’m going to give you another creampie. fuck! fuuuuck-! you’re so fucking tight-”
“tobio-,” you sound like a broken record, but you can only gasp out his name. your pussy keeps milking him, and just imagining kageyama forcing another round of his cum into you turns you on more than it should. “please, tobio- tobio- ah- ahh- hmnnh…! g-give it to me- i want you to give me another creampie…”
kageyama likes it. he likes hearing you moan out his name. he likes knowing that he’s the man on top of you, making sure that you know you belong to him. he also loves it when you beg for him to cum inside of you like that. his balls tighten dangerously at the thought of cumming inside your hole again. just thinking about you whimpering as he explodes inside of you or the way his semen might slowly drip out of your abused cunt is almost enough to make him bust right there and then.
he grits his teeth, and he barely holds himself back. he can’t, not yet. he’s going to make you cum first and only then will he let him lose complete control of himself.
the bottom of your palms and your delicate wrists keep rubbing against his bigger hands. you’re just so small compared to him, and your hands—your fucking hands! lust blinds kageyama momentarily. your hands are so tiny, so smooth, and they’re nothing like his. his are rough and hard and made to slam his opponents down to maintain his superiority, to establish his beloved throne as the unchallenged king of the court, and they’re exquisitely made to shove you underneath into perfect submission.
he wants to see your hands in every way that you can offer him. he needs to see your fingertips trickle down his chest and waist, feel you wrap your fingers around his hardening cock, hold your palms down as he fucks you over and over again. you’re his, all his, and he needs to just physically feel the way you give in to him. he’s always gripping onto your hands and wrists, either pinning you down or lovingly interlacing his fingers into yours as he has his way with you.
“okay,” he almost laughs. “yeah- i can do that- i’ll give you another creampie. i’ll give you as many fucking creampies as you want.”
you throw your head back, making a bunch of incoherent cries. your body shakes uncontrollably underneath kageyama, and your lower half aches from brutally taking him for so long. but when he’s being this possessive over you and making it clear that he won’t accept anything other than you taking all of his love, how could you not want to soak it all up?
your horny mind can only think of one thing. all you can register and think of his dick pounding into you, fucking you, making you melt under his touch. no matter how much you squirm or arch your back against him, kageyama has you held down so firmly in place that you just have to take him.
“take it- take it!” he hisses through gritted teeth. “you’re not going anywhere. you’re not running away from me. you said you wanted it, so i’m going to give it to you. you’re mine- c’mon, be good for me…!”
red hot pleasure claws at your skin. it prickles and drips over you like molten metal, covering you from head to toe. your hands curl helplessly into fists, and the callouses on kageyama’s palms rub against your wrists.
“yes- please- i need more of you, tobio!” your begging is sweet to his ears. he wants to bottle it at all up and keep it forever. he could do the sleazy thing and record it for his own whims, but why do that when he can just fuck you and make you sound like this again? every bit of you is too much for his dense mind, and all he can register is how perfect you are in his eyes. he loves hearing you. swapping between your airy gasps and mewls of his name, he just wants to devour you whole. you have him entranced, and kageyama doesn’t ever want to escape.
your hips start moving in rhythm with him, and you clench your eyes shut. “cum in me, cum in me, please…! i don’t need anything else- need only you! i wanna cum- wanna cum with you- tobio, i can’t take it anymore…!”
some deep sadistic part of him enjoys hearing you this desperate for him. he’s sure it’s only a fraction of the madness he holds for you, but you’re getting a taste of it. kageyama’s never been too lucky in love ever since he was young, always being the selfish weirdo who only cared about volleyball, so when he fell for you, it was like he fell without even thinking about any of the consequences. why wouldn’t he give his everything to you wholeheartedly? in his mind, there was no room for regret, no need to look behind.
the headboard rattles violently against the walls, scraping and banging and slamming against it. if the neighbors are in, they definitely know what the two of you are up to. good. kageyama wants them to hear, wants someone else in the world to know that you belong to him. no one else could ravish you like this, make your body writhe and coil in pleasure like this, utterly entrance him like this.
he growls, “go ahead. cum for me."
his dick twitches and throbs like a second pulse deep inside your cunt, and the stretch your walls feel is nothing short of heavenly. he won’t quit barrelling into you, that awful competitive streak in him refusing to die out even during sex.
your eyes are glossing over. the pounding in your head refuses to abate, and you’re teetering dangerously on the edge. your boyfriend’s thrusts are more frantic, faster, cock slipping in and out of you fully as his tip bullies your abused insides.
“c-cumming…!” you can’t physically take anymore. the pleasure bleeds in between the liminal space of goodness and pain, of heaven and hell, leaving you shaking in its aftermath. you throw your head back, your spine arching like a cat. your chest collides with his, and you squirm violently, pressed down onto the mattress helplessly against his full weight. “i’m cumming! cumming, cumming, tobio! fuck- tobio- ah…!”
warmth shoots through you as if you’ve been dragged underwater. you can’t breathe, your windpipe frozen as pleasure overwhelms you. heat blooms inside your chest and spreads through you, like a poison paralyzing you within your own skin from inside out. your nerves can’t register anything else. all that’s on your mind is your boyfriend and how good he’s making you feel, the inches of his cock dragging painfully in and out of your clenching hole, fucking you violently through your orgasm.
your insides clench up, coiling like a fear-stricken beast. your vision swims, and the edges grow hazy. tears gather in the corners of your eyes, clinging to your lashes as they threaten to fall over and onto your cheeks. kageyama gasps, the sight of you breaking down making him falter just a beat.
you mewl out, “tobio-! tobio, tobio, please- cumming feels so- soooo good…!”
kageyama flinches, and a high-strung hiss escapes his teeth. he squares his jaw as you flutter all around him, body going limp underneath him as your high overtakes you. the bed creaks as his hips grind up against you, and when you let out one final pathetic mewl of his name, he grips onto your wrists with a fervor you’ve never felt before.
you’re so small. so beautiful, so delicate, everything that he isn’t.
“fuck…!”
kageyama comes with a strangled cry, the feeling of your smooth wrists underneath his pushing him over. he buries himself as far as he can into you. you cry out as spurts of hot cum invade your insides, stretching your walls out further as they struggle to take both his load and his cock buried inside you. it burns, but it feels good, like proof of you taking a physical part of his unconditional love.
his hips stutter, and he barely chokes back his moans. you’re squeezing him so tightly, milking every drop of cum out of his length. he wants to keep rutting against your cunt, rubbing every single inch of his needy cock against your insides until your hole is molded to the shape of his dick.
his balls twitch against the curve of your ass, and you’re held down in place. his fingers curl into the headboard, steadying himself as he sucks in a shaky inhale. your mind feels foggy, and you can’t push yourself through the hazy fuzz that settles on you. maybe kageyama’s mind is a bit clearer, but you doubt it, not when he spent the past few minutes fucking into you as if he was going into heat.
“...did you take it all?” his voice is hushed, quiet, like a whisper in a holy place. because that’s what kageyama does: cherish you until the end.
you nod weakly, your head heavy against the pillow. he grins down at you, practically glowing with a kind of possessive pride. you know that competitive streak in him all too well, and you know how insatiable he can get especially when you’re involved. you’re his, and he wants to devour whatever love you hold in your heart for him over and over again. if it weren’t so reverent, it would be almost dangerous.
he stays firmly planted inside of you, nearly crushing you underneath his weight as he lays on top of you. kageyama doesn’t want to pull out just yet, savoring the feeling of your bodies together as one. it’s warm, and it makes his chest feel tight, itching to feel more of your presence. but burying his face into the crook of your neck and inhaling your scent is enough for him, especially when he’s done such a thorough job of railing you.
it amazes him, the difference between your bodies and yet how well you’re made to fit him. like two puzzle pieces connecting, he’s sure you’re his soulmate. no one else can fit that mantle, none other than you.
you blink slowly, and his hands trickle back to yours again. this time, they trail past your wrists, and his fingers carefully intertwine with yours. his calloused palms brush against yours, lithe fingers caressing your smaller ones.
he hopes your wrists are bruised because of him tomorrow. they're manifestations of his deeply driven devotion, after all.

Haikyuu x F!Reader Headcannons ! ♡
Includes : Tobio Kageyama , Kei Tsukishima & Tadashi Yamaguchi
Tumblr media
Tobio Kageyama
I headcannon that before you he's like barely ever even looked at a girl nevermind dated one so he's very inexperienced with everything !
He would be super shy to kiss or anything so everytime you would try and kiss him he'd swerve away and just stare into the distance in shame of himself.
Soon he got the hang of it and now you can't get him to stop kissing you. Before practice? He needs a kiss to prepare. After practice? Needs a kiss to unwind. Lunch? How is he supposed to focus without a kiss? He just doesn't stop!! (but it's okay because he's cute ♡)
When you guys have been together for a while he loves to just lay down in bed with you all snuggled up and whine about his day whether it's him whining about Hinata's shitty receives or how much he missed you whilst you stroke his hair and rub your hand soothingly across his back.
He always tries getting you involved in volleyball so he'll randomly just come up to you with a ball in hand ready to practice with you despite your constant reminders that you barely know the basics nevermind his level of playing. (He doesn't go easy on you though and will tell you if you were shit. But will come back to practice with you again either way ♡)
I imagine he doesn't tend to use a lot of petnames mainly because he's worried he'll call you it infront of his teammates and they'll never let it go but when you're alone together he'll slip out a "baby" and "angel" here and there and it never fails to leave butterflies in your stomach.
Tumblr media
Kei Tsukishima
Same as Kageyama I don't think he's very experienced with relationships but he's read a few romance books here and there and has some natural charm that helps him get by.
He's not a fan of PDA at all and thinks it's just embarassing but sometimes he'll connect your hands together and place them in his coat pocket or he'll connect your pinkies together when walking home. And the only kisses you'll get out in public is a quick peck to the forehead if he's scoped out the area to be sure no one he knows is there.
He LOVES to rest his head against you whether it's your back, chest or neck he really doesn't care he'll just plonk his head down and snuggle into you. He loves the feeling of having you against him like that, it calms him down.
Whenever you're gonna meet up to hang out, sleepover or just school he'll bring your favourite drink or snack and just shove it at you and not say a word (you know better than to say anything either ♡)
He really cherishes the moments where you two just lay down in his bed all cuddled up, you resting against his chest and his hand in your hair just enjoying the feeling of eachother and the comfortable silence you can only get when together.
Whenever you steal his glasses and put them on yourself he may act annoyed but deep down he loves it so much (And in those moments he really curses his bad vision because he literally cannot see you but can sense that you look adorable)
I don't see him as the type of guy who's big on petnames. If anything, he thinks they're stupid. Butttt, If you're shorter than him he'll call you petnames like "Shorty" and "Pipsqueak" and if you're a big fan of petnames he'll let a few "love" and "darling" slip by just for you ♡
Tumblr media
Tadashi Yamaguchi
My passenger princess oh how much I love him
I imagine he's a very big fan of Romantic movies so he knows how to flirt a little but he doesn't actually have any experience with dating, maybe he had a wedding on his schools playground when he was like 6 if that counts!
He obviously overthinks here and there so whenever he needs to ground himself you'll just feel his hand on your lower back, pinching the tip of your sleeve or in your hair.
He's not against PDA but he's also not for it. Like he's not afraid of a few pecks here and there and a hand around your waist but he won't be the type of guy to wear a shirt with your face on it, that's far too embarassing for him.
He hates it when people underestimate him for things which makes him work himself harder to prove his worth. This causes him to burn himself out quickly but no matter how much you yell at him he won't change cause at the end of the day you always hold him and rub circles into his back whilst playing his favourite show.
He loves to call you petnames, but only in private. He loves to call you his "angel" and "honey" mostly but calls you "baby" from time to time. If you two are joking around he'll say really stupid names like "my boo boo bear" or "my pookie schnookie" with a stupid dopey grin on his face ♡
He's happy to play whatever you want whenever. Especially roblox! He loves to play 2 player tycoons and 2 player obbies with you the most but also plays Dress to Impress and Flicker with you.
Your first kiss together was embarassing to say the least. When kissing he accidently bumped your head really hard with his own, leaving a bump. He would not stop apologising for the next week until the bump on your head finally went down. (To this day he cringes when thinking about it but can't help but smile)
Tumblr media
Thank you so so much for reading and I hope you liked them. I still have like a million other headcannons for these boys but I can't fit them all here ♡ This was my first time properly posting so I hope it looks okay !! This was super fun so I'll definitely be posting more characters soon. If you have any requests please let me know and I'll do them. Thank you!

wc.4.2k
featured track. the 6th summer by PLAVE
my heart knew it was you from the moment we met. but you were never mine to begin with.
Tumblr media
kageyama tobio is a logical person. his teammates would describe him as a mechanically precise monster who can effectively deconstruct opponent plays and use his insights to counter strategize their own attacks. a highly rationale driven individual, known to be impassive off court.
in his high school years, he has watched his senpais yearn after their manager, even hinata, falling for a classmate in their third year, the relationship ending in tears when they broke it off because hinata was leaving to brazil. he has seen love take precedent and how it always seem to break the hearts of those involved.
but he never understood why someone would put so much of themselves on line to love someone who could choose to walk away at any point in time.
unlike most people’s beliefs, kageyama isn’t heartless, or emotionless, or indifferent to love. after all, he loves volleyball just fine. it’s just—he figures, why love someone, when they always leave you behind, whether voluntarily or otherwise?—why love someone, when he can choose to devote himself to volleyball which will never abandon him?
and then you came into the picture, wholly unaccounted for. a fellow setter, a true rival, and he found himself wanting to fly with you. someone who understands his pivotal role in his team’s offense, the control tower, as he had once said to hinata. someone who obsesses over every little detail as he does.
at first, he had attributed the feeling of recognition to meeting a true rival in you as a fellow setter. that feeling that he had yearned for as a middle schooler watching the senpai he looked up to, oikawa-san, serve and set like a god. the connection he missed due to rivalry, and the connections he severed unknowingly to be the team that stays on the court the longest.
it couldn’t have been love, because if it was, then he would also be in love with hinata like everyone keeps saying. besides, why would he fall for someone who is in a relationship?
it would be immoral to fall for you, he reasons, you are dating kuroo-san.
he quickly learns that despite the warm demeanor you have when it comes to volleyball, you keep everyone at an arm’s length outside of it. he notices the line you draw between your professional career and your personal life, and he is careful to stay on the right side.
he allows you to set the boundaries that you are comfortable with, keeping to the practice meets that became a monthly routine where you exchange your latest updates on your plays and offer pointers on improving, dissecting each other’s games that quickly spilled over into its own afternoon meetups over coffee.
slowly but surely, it turns from a fan and her idolized player into two equals analyzing and plotting improvements for their next game strategies.
of course, kageyama shares the admiration that comes from picking your brain on his weekly calls with hinata.
“i don’t know how i didn’t think of that before oumae-san suggested it—” he stops himself as he catches hinata giving him a look of sympathy, snapping at the older boy, “what?”
“kageyama, do you know how many times i have heard you talk about oumae-san in the past months?”
“huh? why would i be keeping count?” he frowns at him through the screen.
hinata nods in pity, “exactly. i don’t know either because you are constantly saying oumae-san this, oumae-san that.”
kageyama averts his eyes from his friend, feeling the tips of his ears warming under his inspection. “i don’t talk about her that much.” it comes out in an unconvincing mumble.
“you know i would support you no matter what you do, but oumae-san is getting married to kuroo-san soon. i don’t think it’s good for you to keep pining after a soon-to-be married woman.”
he wishes he could snipe the orange haired boy through the screen, only because he is right. he drags a hand over his face in frustration. damn him, he knows that he is falling for you, but he is utterly helpless in stopping himself.
you’re a dreamy sunny day that he wishes to bask in forever. too bad kageyama is the snow storm that sweeps through winter.
Tumblr media
kageyama tobio well knows that he is truly hopeless from the moment he realized that he fell for you, the mind behind the name.
he is in love with the way your mind works to find counters against your opponent’s defense and open up a path for your team’s attacks. the way you find just the perfect moment to do a setter dump, catching the other team unaware. the way you dissect and analyze plays calmly during timeouts. the way you listen intently to him when he speaks.
the worst part is that you are not even trying to make him fall for you. you are just being your perfectly normal self, keeping all your interactions at a respectful and professional level—probably more professional than respectful at this point, since you would give him shit for his unforced errors. (actually, he also likes that you keep him accountable, unlike most people who would brush them off as mistakes that happen sometimes.)
that gods-forsaken line between your professional and personal lives now more solid than before as a married woman.
and yet, he had fallen for you without even trying.
he had tried to follow hinata’s advice to move on from you, to quote him directly—“stop putting her on a pedestal. she’s only human, she is bound to have something that irks you.”
he tried, really, to find your faults in your interactions. the tiny crease between your eyebrows as you think hard about the game you are exchanging analysis on, the small pout on your lips as you work through possible counterattacks. your dry reply when he says something dumb, or the excitement in your eyes when recounting a strategy (that you both came up with together) that worked.
it’s not working. in fact, it’s achieving quite the opposite of moving on from you.
he curses hinata shoyo for his shit advice as he watches your practice match against france from the vip section in the stands. something feels off, he thinks, finding that you are not landing evenly on both feet when you set to your spikers.
he realizes a moment too late that you are heavily favoring your left foot over the other just as you land awkwardly on your ankle—your shrill yelp sounding from the court.
kageyama jumps to his feet worriedly, hands gripping the back of the seat in front of him as he peers over to you. he reminds himself that he is just another professional acquaintance of yours, forcing himself to take a seat as your coach and teammates rush over to you.
you don’t play for the rest of the game.
later that night, upon finding no news from any media outlets about the severity of your injury after scouring the internet, he starts typing out a message to you—how are you doing?
no, that won’t do, he shakes his head, deleting the small letters on his phone before typing out another message—is your ankle alright?
he pauses for a few moments, wondering if he would be crossing a boundary to inquire about your wellbeing. i probably shouldn’t, he decides against it for the better, choosing to believe (or hope) that no news is good news.
he erases the message to your number, letting the device fall next to him as he puts his arm over his forehead. fuck, what am i doing?
you have a loving husband to go home to, who will take good care of you. there’s no place for someone as removed as him to be worrying after you.
after all, gods are meant to be worshiped from a distance, and you would fit right in next to the ones who torment him so.
Tumblr media
to his dismay, his delusions of relief only lasted a few days.
kageyama tobio knows something is wrong the moment he finds the court empty on the third friday of the month. the court that you live and breathe on. the court that he always finds you practicing your serves while waiting for him.
his heart catches in his throat as he rings your number, holding his breath as he desperately hopes that you are okay.
you pick up on the seventh ring. “kageyama-san? ah, sorry. i forgot to tell you that i won’t be able to make it to practice today.”
“it’s fine, kuroo-san. i was at your match on sunday. are you doing alright?” you both stubbornly stick to using formalities when addressing each other—kuroo-san to remind himself that you are so far beyond his reach that he can just forget about it. (he doesn’t.)
“oh, that? i’m fine,” kageyama breathes out a sigh of relief from hearing your words. relief that comes too soon, as it is quickly followed by your strangled yelp coming from the other end.
“that didn’t sound like you are fine.” he realizes you must be saying that just to keep him from worrying, any rational thought flying out of his mind.
he had seen kuroo-san, your husband in passing at work just this morning, but if you’re injured, and still stubbornly moving around, or worse, even keeping it from your own husband—“send me your address, i’ll be over soon.”
kageyama ends up having to call in the team physician to look at your horribly swollen ankle, stuffing his hands in his pockets to keep himself in line. the tips of his fingers twitch every so often when you wince at her touch as she inspects your ankle.
he tells himself that you are so, so strictly off limits.
though, he makes the mistake of asking about kuroo-san, your husband. he wishes that the words never left his lips as his eyes catch the microexpression that betrays your emotions. you quickly brushes off his question with a joke, as if you have had plenty of practice.
he barely keeps that haze of anger in check as he calls your husband after excusing himself for the night and wishing you a speedy recovery, not allowing himself to ponder on the ‘what could have been’s—of how he would never put work above you, especially if you’re hurt.
he politely explains your situation to your husband, and yet kuroo has the audacity to sound offended at his request to spend more time taking care of you in your condition as an outsider.
“she’s my wife, i know how to take care of her.”
then act like it. kageyama bites back the retort, knowing that it wouldn’t help matters—that it might actually add to your burden instead of easing it.
he bristles when kuroo tells him that he has to go finish up some work before he could leave, mystified as to why kuroo would ever put work above you.
kageyama pockets his phone and lets his arm hang lax by his side, shaking his head at himself. it’s not his place to worry over you, much less tell kuroo how to be a husband.
the gods have judged him, and deemed him unworthy of you.
Tumblr media
kageyama tobio knows your serve routine by heart. a tuck of your hair over your left ear, then your right, followed by a swish of your ponytail to confirm that it is holding securely. fingers smoothing over the hem of your jersey. your left hand outstretched with the ball in front of you, you would lick over your top lip, teeth catching your bottom lip before you launch the ball upwards and forwards, body coiling into a spring that shoots the ball out across the net.
he knows the extra time you take to warm up your right wrist due to a prior injury. the overly bubbly personality that you hide behind when you are upset or disappointed. the modest smile that is dazzling (he swears that you really do sparkle when you smile like that), not because you’re pulling your charm out, but because you are not.
your unpretentious smile that comes from the heart still guts him each time becoming less common, to his disappointment. and gods, does he try to coax that smile from you when he sees you, would give you the entire universe with all the planets and stars in it if he could, just to see the unfiltered crooked smile from you. the one you claim to hate because it reveals the singular dimple on your cheek.
he also knows that you love flowers, deduced from the bouquet of peonies on your lockscreen and the different floral arrangements that you post to your social media each week. and your order at the coffee shop that you get without fail—latte with lavender and honey instead of simple syrup.
he knows all the details he picked up from his observations in the time he has known you, details that he absolutely adore, while being hyper cognizant of the line drawn between you.
he knows, lives at the edge of that boundary drawn by you, enforced by him. his iron grip on his own actions to hold the line, keeping his desires as they are—a daydream of a world where the gods favored him.
kageyama knows this all too well.
and because of that, he knows something is not right when your contact lights up his phone screen with an incoming call on a friday night.
your number is saved under kuroo y/n, a reminder of where he stands in your life. he addresses you as kuroo-san, another constant reminder to stand firm on his side of the line.
he hesitates, but his index finger swipes across the screen, accepting your call before his logical side could stop it.
your voice crackles across the line before he could get a word in. “you finally picked up!”
he could just picture the pout on your face (that also appears during practices when you mess up), but it was the childish whimsy that accompanies your slurred words that dusts his cheeks in pink—the intimacy in your tone that he suspects is not meant for his ears.
“i miss you,” you admit softly, sadly, in a tone that makes his heart clench in pain. as much as he would like to give you comfort, anything you ask him for, really, he knows he’s not the one you’re really looking for.
“yuki, give that back!” you complain, sounding further away from your phone. another female voice comes into the call, “no, is that kuroo tetsuro? that asshole!”
kageyama thinks he should say something to clear up the situation, but the words die in his throat—what could he say, really?
“wait, what? kageyama?” the other female mumbles to herself, and kageyama assumes that whoever that yuki is returns the phone to you as your sweet voice calls out to him again.
“are you done with work yet? you’ve been so busy again lately…” you trail off, “do you think we will go see the cherry blossoms outside of tokyo next year? you promised we would this year, but something came up with your work.”
he really doesn’t want to jump to conclusions about your marriage, but he would be lying if your words don’t make him upset on your behalf. it makes his blood boil to even think about his senpai prioritizing work over his wife. from what he witnessed when you were injured, and now this—you begging for his time, it is exceeding hard to believe otherwise.
why would he choose work over you? he tries not to read too much into the situation, but—if that asshole is really making you live on scraps of his love, why are you still with him?
oh right, because you love kuroo tetsuro.
if kageyama was in his shoes, he would never make you ask him for his time. in fact, he would make sure you feel like the most loved person in the entire world. what do you even see in him—
he shakes himself out of his intrusive thoughts, wondering instead if he made the right decision to give kuroo a push back then; if he just contributed to dragging out your situation rather than helping. he reminds himself that you had looked happier in the following weeks, until now.
he opens his mouth to say something, but your friend beats him to it. “say, you should come pick y/n up! it’s pretty late and she’s so plastered.”
finally, he stumbles to his words. “kuroo-san, i don’t think—”
he isn’t sure if you hear him over the loud music in the background and your friend’s insistence for him to come pick you up. “i’ll send the address to you, please come get her before she drinks herself to death.”
he wonders if she knows.
it isn’t long before he pulls up at the address you sent him, parking at a street lot that opened up as he drove by, lucky him. kageyama feels out of place among the partygoers in the club, dressed in sweats and an oversized hoodie over his plain t-shirt.
he wonders if you would be disappointed to see him instead of your husband. your good for nothing husband who is apparently still at work on a friday night.
kageyama tells himself he shouldn’t feel as crestfallen as he does at that thought. just as he shouldn’t feel the skip in his heartbeat when his eyes land on you, or the urge to pull you into his arms and kiss the top of your head.
or the protective instinct that kicks in as he gets closer, sensing the exhaustion in your demeanor, wishing to shield you against everything that the world throws at you.
he really, really shouldn’t feel the relief that floods his veins at the gratitude in your eyes—not disappointment, he notes—and the gentle smile that graces your lips at his approach. that smile that he loves so much, knocking the breath out of him, reflecting on his own features that are normally set in a disinterested scowl.
gods, is there anything he wouldn’t do to keep that smile on your face?
“tobio, you came.” his name leaving your lips for the first time, as you fling yourself into his arms with such familiarity that he has never seen from you. it takes every inch of his willpower to not crumble to the floor before you, beg you to let him love and worship you for the goddess you are.
it takes every shred of his resolve to keep the words from overflowing past that cursed line. to keep his features neutral, intercept the storm ripping through his winter from touching your pleasant spring.
so he holds on to you awkwardly, savoring the rare moment of affection, mumbling into your hair, “you called.”
“mmm, we’re celebrating my birthday! do you want a drink?” he releases you first, letting his arms fall to his sides. you tug him towards the bar before another woman stops you, disapproval set in the lines of her face.
“i let you out of my sight to go to the bathroom for a few minutes, and you’re already making a beeline to the bar.” this must be the yuki on the phone then. her eyes flicker behind you to kageyama. “this is kageyama?”
“kageyama tobio, nice to meet you.” he manages a stiff nod.
“tsuda yuki. thanks for coming on a short notice, i appreciate it. she really doesn’t want to leave, and kuroo isn’t picking up.” yuki keeps a firm grip on you, tugging you in the opposite direction—to the exit, narrowing her eyes when you pout at her.
you seem to have mellowed out since kageyama arrived, the sadness behind your eyes just a tad lighter if the strobing lights weren’t playing tricks on her. oh, whatever works, works. it’s almost two in the morning, and she thanks the gods that you are finally willing to go.
yuki exchanges a few words with kageyama before they come to a mutual decision to have him drop you home since he has a car and she has to call a cab in the opposite direction of where you live.
“be good for kageyama, please?” she basically begs you to be on your best behavior as her cab shows up. you’re clinging onto her like your life depends on it.
“we’ll be fine, tsuda-san.” kageyama tries to assure her, but she shoots him a look of disbelief.
“you don’t know her like i do. she is… really out of hand when she has alcohol in her system. the last time she was this drunk, she tried to—” the cab honks at her to hurry up. “are you sure you got this?”
“yeah, i’ll have her call you when i drop her off.”
tsuda-san is right. kageyama comes to that conclusion after spending 15 minutes trying to get you into the passenger seat and checking that you put your seatbelt on.
he breathes a sigh of relief, focusing on the road ahead as you finally settle down, preoccupied with the buildings and bright lights that pass by in a blur. strangely enough he finds that he didn’t mind it one bit, having his hands full with taking care of a drunk you. he actually found this wild, unchecked side of you endearing.
he gently shakes you awake once he parks the car. it seems like most of the alcoholic effects have worn off during the drive as you lean onto him for support in the elevator, yawning and rubbing your tired eyes.
your apartment is dark, devoid of life as you enter, kicking your shoes off in the entryway, mumbling a tadaima, mostly to yourself. kageyama would have missed it if he was not following closely behind you, making sure you don’t trip and fall over.
his heart aches at the thought of you coming home to an empty apartment, your tadaima announcing that you’re home unmet with its other okaeri half from your husband to welcome you back.
“make yourself at home, tobio,” you curl up on the couch, putting on a travel vlog on the tv on a low volume before dialing yuki’s number, letting her know you’re home safely.
“hey, why don’t you change into more comfortable clothes? let me get you some painkillers. where is the medicine cabinet?” he nudges your shoulder. you lean back against the headrest, pouting at him again. if only you knew the effect you have on him.
“i’m lazyyy.”
kageyama attempts to reason with you. “c’mon, you can go to bed right after too.”
“too tired to move.” you cross your arms at him.
“kuroo-san…” he sighs.
“why do you always call me that? my name is y/n, you know.”
“y/n, would you please change into pajamas?”
“nope.”
“what can i do to change your mind?”
your grin splits your face from ear to ear. “you could carry me to the room.”
“what—” he rubs the spot between his eyebrows. “okay, fine.”
kageyama scoops you into his arms effortlessly, and can't help but notice how the shape of you fits perfectly against him. your eyelashes flutter close as you rest your head against his shoulder, inhaling deeply and exhaling the spooled stiffness in your frame.
the fullness in his heart lasts less than a minute. he catches himself staring at you when you meet his gaze, fingers smoothing against his brow as your feet touch the floor. “you’re going to get wrinkles before your time, tobio.”
he scurries back to the living room, leaving it at that. his cheeks are colored again, his back against the shut door of your bedroom, trying to calm his racing heartbeat.
“stop it.” he mutters, more so at himself than anything, looking through the cabinets in the kitchen for some painkillers, and filling two tall glasses of water for you. he knocks on your door after a few minutes, easing the door open carefully when you tell him he’s clear to enter.
he hands you the pills in one hand, water glass in the other. “drink up.”
kageyama notices the melancholy in your eyes resurfacing as you lean back against your pillow on your side, hand outstretched towards the empty half of the queen-sized bed, but he wisely chooses to leave it be.
you squeeze your eyes shut, turning on your side away from him. “good night, tobio. thanks for coming.”
“of course.” anything for you. kageyama tucks you under the blanket, fingers smoothing over the duvet, itching to run them through your hair. he curls his hand into a fist and shoves it in his pocket before his body betrays him.
“happy belated birthday, kuroo-san.” he whispers into the darkness, leaving the full glass of water by your bed, and quietly closes the door behind him. he turns off all the lights in your apartment and washes up the other glass, fighting the strong urge to check on you when he hears a muffled whimper coming from your bedroom.
you probably don’t want him to see you like that.
he forces his feet out the front door. and a smile onto his face the next day when he sees you with puffy eyes and no memories of the night before.
he really, really wishes he met you first.
kageyama tobio curses the gods that put him on this trajectory.

Now that you think about it, you’ve always been too nice for your own good.
Not that it’s your fault. Your parents raised you that way; show kindness to others whenever the opportunity presented itself. The limit of knowing when to stop never came up, opting to believe that your positive behaviour would be contagious. Wishful thinking, of course. You don’t blame your parents for those drawbacks—their boundless optimism, perhaps, but that’s all.
You wished reality showed some mercy when slapping you across the face. Sooner, too, maybe.
When you especially wished for a backbone, you were in your first year of high school, standing before your anxious friend after offering your help. You know her pretty well, having gone to the same middle school; your brain saw no reason to process possible consequences. (Not like you could ever predict your current outcome, anyway.) If anything, the muscle was too busy thinking about how the blonde’s spine would break eventually. No ill feelings behind the idea, but it doesn’t stop your brows from furrowing in guilt.
You worried for Yachi, that’s all. And with her bent over at a 90° angle before you, a position you both seem familiar with, you couldn’t help but sigh.
“Hey,” you began softly. The sheepish blonde didn’t budge, and it wasn’t until you said her name a bit louder did she tilt her head to peer up at you. “It’s no problem, okay? I’d be happy to help. Besides,” you quipped with a smile for good measure, and your classmate rose from her deep bow, though kept her position so you remained above her, “this could look good on a resumé, no?”
By now, Yachi’s posture returned to normal as she offered a nervous chuckle. “I guess you’re right. It’s just that those two can be a handful sometimes, especially with each other. I don’t want to put any stress on you.”
Your arms crossed as you arched a brow, considering the new volleyball manager’s words. “Then, how about I take care of one of them and you keep the other? It’ll be easier to help if you focus on one person’s struggles, and that way they won’t bicker all the time.” A small smile graced her lips as she pondered your idea, and you leaned forward curiously. “You make them sound like an old married couple. There’s no way they’re that bad, are they?”
Yachi’s eyes widened ever so slightly before she frantically shook her hands in front of her.
“No, no, no!” she insisted, voice raising a bit more than probably intended. A few classmates paused their conversations to glance at you two; you waved them off apologetically. “I don’t mean to make them sound terrible or anything! It’s just that they care so much about their club that,” she paused, searching for the right words, “they can’t seem to focus on anything else.”
You hummed, head tilting in thought. A valid concern, but it was a drawback most teens had with studying. Not that you needed to remind Yachi: with keeping up with a team where she somewhat understands the sport, tutoring her teammates and keeping up with her schoolwork, stating the obvious may not put her at ease.
Instead, you grinned reassuringly, and light pink dusted across the blonde’s cheeks. “Nothing I can’t handle. I got this.”
Tumblr media
It didn’t take long to find your tutee upon entering Class 1-3. Based on Yachi’s description, you were sure you’d seen him a few times in the hallway, a scowl seemingly stuck on his face. That expression remained as he stared at whatever was in his notebook. And with other students in the room tiptoeing as they passed his desk, you were even more sure that was who you were looking for.
“Kageyama.” Despite your voice’s volume as you attempted to gain his attention, your tone carried its usual gentleness. It did the trick, his frown softening as his brows lowered to a neutral expression. Not as intimidating as his previous look, but you understood where Yachi’s hesitance came from as she tried to describe him.
“You’re Yachi’s friend?” It sounded more like a statement than a question, but you nodded. He hummed. “What’s your name again?”
You are–were–kind, not a saint. The question irked you, having put effort into knowing who he is and how he worked to help him raise his grades. He can’t bother to remember your name? Surely, Yachi gave it to him.
There’s no need to get mad, you remembered. Reminded. Wired. It was just introductions; give him a chance. Give him as many as he’ll need to open up in his own way. Yachi said he wasn’t the best at communication. He’s trying. You were both trying.
You gave him your name with a smile.
Tumblr media
The first lesson had more to do with diving deeper into his brain than helping him study. With only a summarized description to go by, you needed more information.
Kageyama understood onomatopoeias better than imagery. Tone flew over his head while clear instructions prepared him for the journey ahead. Studying English and Japanese had their wins and losses. (Mostly the latter, though some battles must be lost to win the war.)
The next couple of sessions weren’t any different. You wondered if the environment distracted the setter, and while it didn’t appear that way, you suggested meeting up at the library. A minor improvement, though his brain’s wiring still wasn’t completely translated to you.
Whenever you and Yachi sat together for lunch to update each other on the tutoring, you tossed in some enthusiasm in your tone as you promised her you were getting there. Following up was a back-and-forth of the blonde insisting that you could back out of the deal whenever and you assuring her that everything was going smoothly. (Can’t say “fine.” No one believes in fine anymore.)
Now, you observed the twitch of Kageyama’s eye as he glared at the graphs, angles and equations in his notebook. You didn’t blame him: not when you were slowly running out of methods to help him.
As time passed, so did his patience. The ravenette slammed his notebook onto his desk with a groan, hands flying to slap his face, making you jump in your seat across from him. Other students flinched as they turned to face the commotion, whispering to one another before trying to look away.
“This is a waste of my time,” Kageyama muttered.
That makes two of us, a fleeting thought grumbled. You swatted it away, ignoring the tightening of your chest.
His glare trailed toward the window to his left, muttering about how he could be improving his technique—or rather, something more about a certain pipsqueak needing to work on his spikes.
You hummed. “Tell me about volleyball.”
His gaze snapped to you, brows still furrowed, though curiosity replaced the aggression in his eyes. “What about it?”
“Whatever you want,” you shrugged, placing your pencil on the desk. “I only really know the basics of the sport, but there’s no use stressing yourself out over something you’re stuck on. Consider this a little break.”
A slight pout formed on his lips, either from hesitation or pondering where to begin.
Kageyama lived and breathed volleyball. Not his words verbatim, but his rambling told you as such. He knew his strengths and his weaknesses (even if he’d rather not discuss them), and his irritation toward his teammate sounded like complaints on the surface. Still, it came from high expectations and confidence in the ginger’s potential, and it wasn’t until he rambled on about A passes and C passes did a light flick in your brain.
“There it is!” you exclaimed, a grin tugging the corners of your lips. You slid the notebook closer to the setter. “Try what you were just explaining to me and add it into these questions.”
It took him a few seconds to process the order, his head tilting to the side as that pout returned. A cute look on him, but that wasn’t relevant then, nor now.
“What, my passes?” Kageyama blinked, and it seemed to click.
You nodded. “You’re so precise with your sets. Just apply all the knowledge to these situations. It may not be exactly the same thing, but it’s possible.”
Kageyama looked at you for a bit before returning his attention to his notebook, taking his time looking over the written words before skating his pencil across the paper. You figured Yachi was exaggerating when she told you about his passion for the sport, but that assumption went out the window soon enough. But weaknesses can be strengths if you view them from a different angle, and soon the setter’s distraction became his motivation.
Not all the questions he answered were correct, but the improvement was impossible to miss. You beamed, praising him for finding his way. Despite his resting face, Kageyama’s eyes shined from the encouragement, his posture straightening ever so slightly. The baby pink dusting his cheeks didn’t go unnoticed by you, either, and you had to refrain from cooing. Holding back a chuckle as he stammered an invitation to his team’s next practice match wasn’t possible, and you agreed should he continue to work hard.
The study session ended early, with you wishing the ravenette good luck at practice and his upcoming quiz. You slouched while walking in the opposite direction, pride washing over you like a warm shower. An accomplishment, a job well done. Completed.
Tumblr media
You remembered thinking how you could only go uphill from there, academically speaking. What else was there? Aside from volleyball, there wouldn’t be anything else to worry about, and you weren’t even responsible for that department. All you could do was observe the sport and those who play it, learning bit by bit as you cheered for your school’s volleyball club.
You didn’t know the opposing team or their capabilities, though you could only assume they were a challenge. Yachi sat beside you, scribbling notes and occasionally explaining whatever she learned herself.
“I heard you found a way to help Kageyama,” she said between sets. “How’d that go?”
As if he heard you, the setter trailed his gaze toward you two, giving you a curt nod before drinking from his water bottle. You returned a small smile before giving your attention to your blonde friend.
“Figured things out a few sessions in,” you responded as the remnants of pride from that day of discovery still swirling in your chest. “He should get the hang of it soon enough. I’m sure getting to stay in this club is more than enough motivation for him.”
Yachi perked up at the news. “That’s great! Thanks again for helping out. I owe you bigtime.”
“Don’t say that.” You shook your head with a giggle. “How’s your tutoring process coming along?”
Movement teased the corner of your eye, but the shriek that echoed throughout the gym was impossible to ignore. Your attention went to the source, and the new manager almost dropped her notebook at the sound.
Kageyama held a death grip on a ginger teammate–Hinata’s–hair, roughly tugging the locks as he glared at the shorter teen. The latter continued to beg, though aside from who you could only assume to be the team captain, no one paid them any mind. As the senior student handled the situation, the setter caught your gaze. His glare faltered, but his frown didn’t disappear as he seemingly analyzed your expression. He walked away with a huff, and soon enough, the second set began.
Tumblr media
It was normal, apparently. You got to interact with a few of the other teammates, one of which–Tanaka, if you remembered correctly–barked out a laugh as he assured that Kageyama and Hinata fought like an old married couple all the time. You weren’t sure what kind of elders he’s been around, but so long as the explanation put you at ease, you’d take it.
You eventually got used to the random quarrels as well. A deal was made between the setter and you that you’d see his games should he continue to work hard academically. Or rather, he’d let you know when his upcoming practice matches would be like you’d already planned on showing up. Not that it bothered you; it was probably his way of connecting with you outside of tutoring, and with your first impressions of him, you assumed making friends wasn’t his forte.
The only downside is that you also had your own club to go to. The boys’ volleyball team didn’t have practice matches too often, so you had yet to miss any, at most showing up a bit late as you’d wrap up your club’s meeting for the day. You’d catch Kageyama with his usual frown until he found you’d shown up, and his expression would soften as he straightened his posture. Having already been in the game, he couldn’t say anything about your tardiness, so you’d sneak to the balcony and observe from above, cheering on a little harder to make up for it. After the game, he’d approach you with a pout, though he’d only discuss the match with you.
It was late fall when you first missed a match. Kageyama informed you a few days prior, as you helped him with Modern Japanese, that a practice game would partake. You thought nothing of it until that day arrived, and you had yet to dismount your seat in your own clubroom. The calligraphy club was pretty straightforward, though that day, there was a meeting, one you barely recalled as your eyes continuously glanced at the clock. Along with cleaning up the classroom, you lost more time than expected, and rushing to the gymnasium did little to fix the issue.
The game was in its second set by the time you arrived. The first thing you noticed upon entering the gym was the starting setter’s head whipping toward your direction. His alertness subsided, but his gaze stayed on you for a few seconds too many before he served the ball. You assumed things would go as usual, with you sneaking to your designated spot and watching the match until it was over.
It wasn’t until the opponents requested a time-out did you discover how wrong you were. While the other boys went to fetch water and towels, Kageyama stomped over to you, his sweat-slicked bangs hovering over his eyes in a way that made his glare all the more intimidating.
“Where were you?” His voice was of normal volume, but his tone matched his furious expression perfectly. Your body froze.
“I had this thing,” you stammered. “My club meeting took longer than I thought, and—”
“I was waiting for you,” he seethed, stepping closer. “I even asked Coach to wait a bit so you could make it. I shouldn’t even have to make excuses for tardiness. You couldn’t have told your club that you had places to be?”
Your mouth went dry as he got louder, and by now, most of his teammates were watching the commotion. You’ve seen him frustrated, sure, angry on bad days, too. At least he’d take it out on his homework.
Still, your habit of patience was second nature, even when it wasn’t called for. “I’m sorry—”
“Kageyama.” Daichi was behind the ravenette with a hand on his shoulder before you could further explain yourself. His tone was stern, sharp even, but nowhere near as intimidating as what you received. A warning. “Go take a breather, why don’t you?”
The setter’s gaze stayed on you a little longer than necessary. He scoffed before walking away, his back facing you as he sipped from his water bottle. You politely dismissed the captain’s apology on his junior’s behalf, assuring him you were all right.
“His Majesty’s probably just upset his girlfriend couldn’t watch him show off,” you heard Tsukishima mutter to Yamaguchi. You weren’t sure if he intended for you to catch his comment, but he wasn’t exactly out of earshot, only a couple of feet away. Regardless, you didn’t bother responding. It didn’t take long for everyone else to leave the little incident in the past, and the tall blonde’s snarky words lingered in your brain for the remainder of the match.
No one else showed up to watch these games. You were there for the tournaments, too; aside from Tanaka’s older sister and a few of the coach’s old friends, the boys’ volleyball club didn’t have much moral support. Much less Kageyama, from what you could tell. You’ve heard about his behaviour back in middle school from Hinata and Tsukishima, the latter with taunts, and the new fragments of information added pieces to the puzzle.
Kageyama was trying. He didn’t always succeed, but it didn’t stop him from attempting to steer away from the tyrannical path he was heading. You’ve seen him reach for Tanaka’s high-fives, albeit with a confused expression, but it didn’t falter his senior’s enthusiasm. His compliments (if you could even call them that) came out as awkward and forced when he gave them to Hinata after the ginger won a point, and he wasn’t afraid to ask Azumane if he needed to adjust his sets to suit the Ace.
Maybe you were supposed to be his tutor and nothing more. Maybe it would’ve been better that way. But with very little assistance and even lesser options, Kageyama might have considered your listening to his ramblings as a sign of friendship. You supported him in staying on the team, and now you’re watching him flourish as a result. That’s what friends do—it was only fair for him to ask you to stay as such. You’d ask yourself why not indulge, though you were probably in too deep to call it that anymore.
The following morning, you find Kageyama waiting by the school entrance, two milk cartons in each hand and a strained apology on the tip of his tongue. You smiled, the two of you sipping on your refreshments as you waited for the first bell to ring.
Tumblr media
Your calligraphy club disbanded at the beginning of your second year. You weren’t all that surprised at the time: there were barely enough students for it to exist in the first place. Why certain members decided to leave was beyond you, but you saw no point in pushing them to stay if they didn’t want to. Still, you missed your club: you were left to your own devices, the black ink dancing across paper lulling you to a place of comfort.
It was Yachi who suggested you joined the boys’ volleyball club as another manager. She figured you learned some things from Kageyama here and there while tutoring him, and she has no problem helping you catch up.
“Besides,” the blonde smiled, handing you the sign-up sheet, “it’s pretty lonely now that Shimizu graduated. It’d be nice to have a friend around.” You take the paper from her, staring at it somewhat skeptically. You didn’t voice your hesitance, and after a few seconds of silence, your friend added, “I’m sure the others will be happy to have you around, too.”
With how often you dropped by to watch the team practice and compete, the club members have grown to know you. It didn’t take too long for you to warm up to them, too, usually sitting with Ennoshita, Kinoshita and Narita and having them explain the gameplay whenever you were lost. Otherwise, it was mainly Kageyama who kept you to himself either because you had time to assist him in his studies or simply because he wanted your attention.
You later found out it was his idea to have you join the team as another manager, and Yachi agreed immediately. Who would complain about that? Another sweet and pretty girl to help and cheer them on was a dream come true for most. You were the only one that had yet to vocalize content, and you handed in the application sheet soon after receiving it.
Even with the progress, you still tutored Kageyama. Seeing him more often after classes only gave you more opportunity to support him, especially when Coach Ukai would remind certain members to keep their grades up.
Not that any of this bothered the setter. He had no problem having you continue helping him with his schoolwork. He’d listen to your instructions, try out new learning techniques whenever he struggled on a particular unit and remained patient (by his standards, anyway) with you when things didn’t work out.
You had no issue continuing your support. You knew Kageyama was trying his best, even when his brain could only focus on volleyball, and you figured you could still learn more about how he interacted with others as he tried to come out of his shell.
His one-track mind came to a disadvantage at times. When Hinata suggested studying as a group, Kageyama quickly shut the idea down. He’d sometimes go on tangents about strategies and new techniques for the sport while you tried to help him. Tanaka and Nishinoya would quip that the setter had a crush on you and didn’t know how to express it, though you knew better than to take those two seriously. Kageyama told you that becoming a manager would be more suitable for your future than your previous club. He’s grown used to your routine of getting all your attention for tutoring, and having others there would throw him off his game. As for his rants, he’s merely passionate about the sport—you don’t need a reminder.
So, you became a manager for the boys’ volleyball club, continued your one-on-one tutoring sessions and instructed him to only speak of team strategies in English as practice. And you do so until you graduate.
It’s where the connection between you and Kageyama seemingly disappeared, set ablaze before dwindling into disintegration. He didn’t even give you the time to say goodbye to your friends outside the club before asking them if he could steal you away. (It was more of a declaration—the questioning tone was a mere formality.)
“Ready to take your volleyball career to the next level?” You didn’t know what else to say: not after the abrupt isolation. He’s brought you one of the many hidden corners the school had to offer, away from all the other graduates and their loved ones. Sakura petals fluttered through their descent, softening an otherwise overwhelming atmosphere full of completed chapters and new beginnings. You read manga: it felt like prince charming would swoop in with a confession, second gakuran button in hand. Having blueberry eyes boring into your awaiting frame in such an environment should make the butterflies in your stomach perform their very own acrobatics number, the anticipation eating you from the inside out. And it did, the churning in your belly boiling your face as you tried to meet his gaze. Kageyama’s resting face was always a disadvantage regarding his approachability, but with three years of getting to know him under your belt, you still felt a ghost’s kisses up your spine.
“Obviously,” he answered. You would have chuckled at the comment in your first year of high school. But even the smile you’ve managed to muster no longer seemed convincing. Part of you wondered if you could find your friends once more to keep in touch before you all left. “I should be asking you that, though.”
Your brows furrowed in confusion, yet you kept the corners of your lips upwards. “I don’t know if being a manager for a volleyball team counts as a volleyball career.”
Kageyama didn’t laugh at your quip. You didn’t expect him to, but his response caught you off-guard.
“When will you be joining me?”
Your tiring performance of halo and white wings evaporated at his question, brows further creasing as your smile dropped. A clear indication of confusion, though a hint of offence found its way into the mix.
“What are you talking about?” Your body instinctively inched closer to your corner. The setter noticed.
“One of the biggest reasons I’ve managed to get as far as I am with volleyball is because of you,” he stated. “From helping me keep my grades up to becoming manager. I can grow to adjust to any team I become a part of, but I need someone who gets me to be by my side if I want to continue to prosper in my career.”
The butterflies once performing in your belly dropped dead before they had the chance to bow. The love confession you dismissively thought of boomed with laughter as it slapped you across the back. Your lungs were empty as your brain progressed his words, your face slowly morphing from one expression to another.
Did you do this?
“Kageyama,” you began, barely knowing where to go without a map, “I’m sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, but that’s not the path I’m taking.” His resting face grew sour. You forced yourself to continue. “I’m flattered, but really, you did most of the work. I just gave you a little push.” Kind words didn’t weaken the blow—his staredown didn’t falter. “I have a life outside of the sport. I’m no prodigy. I don’t work anywhere near as hard as you do. I don’t feel the same about volleyball the way you do—”
“Bullshit.”
The snap from harsh lips forced yours shut. You shrank back once more, a scolded child fearing further punishment.
You dared to glance at him. Kegayama was seething, leaning forward with clenched fists and jaw. You didn’t want to peer out to the crowd; had anyone heard him? They either didn’t or were too afraid to jump in. You knew you would be, too.
“You think some sweet talk is going to make any of this okay?” His voice grew in volume, and you flinched. “You learned past the basics, you understand strategy better than the average player. You’re throwing it all out the window for what? That damn club you were in before had nothing to offer. I can vouch for you if you just follow me.”
There he was: King of the Court. You always thought Tsukishima would exaggerate to gain a reaction, but that title came to be for a reason. You just never thought you’d fall victim to it.
“Look, I’m sorry if I led you on,” even in a situation like this, your feelings seemed to fall to a second priority, “but I’m telling you now that I don’t love the sport as much as you think I do. It’s not in my future.”
“I showed you opportunity and you throw it back in my face,” he sneered, getting closer.
“I joined because of Yachi and my old club disbanding,” you defended, voice quivering. “I don’t understand why you’re yelling at me.”
A petal landed on your cheek, and you went to brush it away until you discovered the soft touch was a stray tear. It seemed enough to silence him, if only momentarily, though his glare remained just as deadly.
He wanted to say something; you knew he did. More words of anger, most likely, but he tightened his jaw instead, opting to walk away after giving you a final look of disdain.
You didn’t hear the hopeful and cheerful banter between graduates, nor did you catch Yachi calling your name until she laid a hand on your shoulder, snapping you out of your daze. Kageyama lingered in your head for the remainder of that day; no harsh words in particular—mainly the darkening of his blue eyes as his tone became aggressive. Part of you thought you also heard a twinge of betrayal, but after such a whiplash of a confrontation, you weren’t sure you could recall that moment in your state.
Wherever he was during the remainder of graduation, you didn’t see him.
Tumblr media
To be more precise, you didn’t see him afterwards, either. With moving to another prefecture for school and time passing by, you eventually put that memory behind you. That isn’t to say it didn’t make your body temperature drop; on the rare occasions Kageyama would be brought up, the daggers his eyes threw your way would flash in your mind. Of course, you saw no reason to voice the issue—you only ever heard about him from Yachi whenever you’d catch up, which isn’t as often as you’d like. From what you know, he’s out of the country, furthering his career like you assumed he would. And while the setter was right about how being manager brought more skills and opportunities, your studies had nothing to do with volleyball.
Neither does your career.
You never thought you’d set foot in Italy, much less work there after university. Your parents told you that your kindness paid off, much to your irritation. (Was school not already enough of a hassle? And the extracurriculars? The people?)
Even though the conversation was over the phone, you found yourself putting on a smile as you told them about taking the opportunity, your tone hopeful as if you still needed their permission.
It took you who knows how long to realize you didn’t. And as soon as it hit you, you packed your bags and flew halfway across the world with barely the basics of the Italian language in your brain and newfound perseverance in your heart.
Whatever bits and pieces made you a doormat evaporated into the air as that airplane took off to your new home, and you planned on making what should be the next chapter of your life a completely different book.
Easier said than done, of course.
Tumblr media
The last person you’d expect to see at this pub meets your gaze, and your eyes widen from instant recognition.
Kageyama hasn’t changed all that much. His resting face is hard to miss, the light crease in his brows making him appear far angrier than he is. And with his increase in height and muscle, his intimidation goes up, too. His hair is also somewhat shorter, though that’s all regarding his changes.
You continue to gawk at him, though his expression remains calm like you two were back in high school and you showed up to one of his games. You should be there.
He’s wearing his jersey, you realize, and grouped up with other men in the same attire. You don’t recognize the team; you haven’t been keeping track of the setter’s career.
One of his teammates follows his stare, and Kageyama mumbles something before approaching you. You don’t hear what the other man says in return, your attention stuck on your old high school friend. (Can you still call him that? Could you ever have called him that?)
He says your name; your feet plant themselves on the ground. “It’s been a while.”
You blink away the myriad of emotions before nodding. “Still playing volleyball.”
It wasn’t a question, but it doesn’t make you feel any less stupid for bringing it up. Kageyama tilts his head back a bit, motioning to his team with a hum. “Yeah.”
“Can’t say I’m all that surprised,” you try to quip, your fingers toying with the hem of your shirt. Even if the ravenette’s height wasn’t a prominent factor, he’d still tower over you with how his eyes bore into your frame.“Last I heard, you joined Schweiden Adlers.”
His frown deepens. “I’m part of Ali Roma now.”
You bite your lip, your face growing warm. Kageyama appears offended, what with how he slightly tilts his head back for his eyes to look down on you. His brows furrow more, and you’re surprised you still remember his quirks even after all these years.
“An Italian team? Congratulations!” You don’t mention living in the same country, working on the same soil where he now lives and breathes his beloved sport. In fact, you don’t say anything for a little too long, and your eyes glance behind him. “Well, I wouldn’t want to keep you from your team. It was nice seeing—”
“Don’t worry about them,” he says, moving towards you. “I plan on catching up with you. They’ll understand.”
He’s making you approach a corner booth, and neither your feet nor your voice can protest. Even once you’ve sat down, all you do is shift in your seat, seemingly never comfortable. And whatever you originally planned on ordering is replaced with a glass of water. If Kageyama noticed, he doesn’t comment. He sips his beer occasionally; you’re halfway with your drink in a minute.
“So,” you hum, “you like your new team?”
The setter looks at you for a few seconds before responding. “Yeah. Full of great players.”
He sounds more like he’s being interviewed than catching up with someone from high school. You try not to deadpan at his short answer. Your habit comes back crawling, keeping up performances and your back straight, head forward and heart thumping.
Your glass is almost empty when Kageyama speaks once more. “Why didn’t you tell me you were in Italy?”
He didn’t sound offended or hurt. The question came out as curious and casual like you two were going on about your day. But you know that’s not what’s happening, and his eerie calmness makes you nearly choke on your drink.
“We kinda lost touch,” you answer steadily, briefly. “It was a pretty quick decision, too. Only a handful of people knew.”
Not a complete lie, but you consider it necessary for now.
“Had to find out from Yachi that you were here last time I played in Japan,” the setter grunts, eyes glued to his drink. Your hold on your glass tightens at his words as your head snaps up to face him, a mix of confusion and a twinge of fear making your expression. You don’t get to ask him anything, not that you’re sure you can, and he continues. “Kind of a hassle not being able to reconnect with you whenever I had time back home. Switching teams was a good call, especially with my previous contract coming to an end. And it’s not like I wouldn’t have made it into Ali Roma anyway. I guess you leaving was a blessing in disguise.”
Whatever he says afterwards, if anything, drowns out as you stare past his shoulder, and your stomach drops. The strength you gained found its cowardice as the old you that disappeared into the clouds crashes down on you like a rainstorm, soaking you to the bone and making you shiver.
You rise from your seat a little too abruptly for your liking. “I need to use the bathroom.”
Also not a complete lie, but who’s keeping track? Not a drop of alcohol touched your tongue, yet you stumble down the hall towards the sign with a female stick figure in a dress and clumsily push the door below it open. You’re unsure if you should hunch over the toilet or splash water on your face, but you aren’t rewarded with a choice, nor the time, to make it.
A knock rinses the blood out of your ears, and you can hear the cheerful and far-from-sober banter back in the bar.
“Occupied,” you stammer hurriedly, carrying yourself to the sink. The creak of the door opening has you inhaling sharply, and who you see in the reflection keeps the air in your lungs.
Kageyama stands a couple of meters from you, his brows lightly furrowed. “Why do you keep doing that?”
You don’t answer him. The ravenette takes a step forward. You flinch.
“I was right, you know,” he begins, strangely calm. “That old club of yours–the calligraphy one–it was a waste of time.” His movements are slow as he approaches you. “It’s a good thing everyone left. Even if your new job has nothing to do with volleyball, your manager position definitely brought you to where you are now.” As vague as he may be, you can’t help but move back every time he gets closer, your fist tightening near your chest. “It would’ve been better if you’d just joined me, though.”
Your back hits the wall, and you don’t register what happens afterwards as your jumbled thoughts decipher possibility after possibility over the athlete’s implications. You don’t realize he’s kissing you or grabbing hold of your face to make you return the forced affection. You’re elsewhere as he lifts your top over your breasts and your skirt past your hips. Your mind is groggy as he gropes you through your bra, soon sliding past the material to tweak your nipples.
It isn’t until his hand slides down your body and into your panties do you awake to a nightmare.
Your front presses up against the tile wall; you don’t recall when he turned you around, the dead end’s coolness painting goosebumps all over your body and juxtaposing the warm fresh tears cascading down your squished cheek. Kageyama’s fingers languidly glide across your lower lips before he clicks his tongue. You can hear the irritation; you always could.
Not as wet as he’d like you to be. But the setter only has so much patience. He’s human, after all. He’s human.
The thought barely registers when you hear a faint zipping sound behind you, and suddenly his hard-on presses into the small of your back. Your breathing picks up as he spreads your legs with little effort, further pushing you into the wall before doing the same with your panties, revealing your entrance to him.
He doesn’t grace you with sweet nothings and mercy: just a blob of spit in his hand to pump his cock followed by heavy panting. And when he finally enters, the silence deafens you as he chokes on a gasp.
That’s the moment that felt never-ending; he went in and never stopped, it seems, dragging himself into your insides until he was everywhere. He is everywhere. He is inside and behind and looming and crushing.
The nicest he was to you was when he waited to let you adjust, and you hate yourself for being the sweet little high school girl who tried to see the best in people. He doesn’t deserve it. You don’t deserve this.
Kageyama makes his first few strokes slow, but they’re still deep enough to have you gritting your teeth. It isn’t long until he gasps your name and picks up speed.
“All this way,” he rasps in your ear, almost masking the slapping noises his hips would make when colliding with your ass. “All this way to another part of the world, joining a new team, starting over and getting better, all to see you again.” You don’t hear him when he speaks, nor as he grunts extra loudly as you tighten around him. “I should’ve done this sooner.”
A large hand slides back into your bra, squeezing your breast, calloused fingers tugging at the hardened bud, while the other one further shoves your panties aside to hastily rub your clit. The dry friction does little to soothe you, and with his lack of patience, the nub receives no pattern except whatever it's offered. Still, the added stimulation makes you tighten and the ravenette more restless. Even in your position, he finds a way to slam his lips against yours again. His tongue makes its way into your cavern as his thrusts get sloppier. You can’t breathe.
Not when he pulls away from the kiss.
Not when his hips sputter as hot ropes paint your insides white.
And certainly not when your high follows soon after.
It wasn’t strong, and it didn’t last long, but the shame that creeps into your stomach lasts an eternity.
Your heavy breathing syncs with his as everything finally settles into your slowly-sobering mind. Kageyama’s still inside you, his hot breath fanning the back of your neck as his hands find your wrists to grab hold of.
You’re in high school all over again. His actions have evolved to more dangerous heights, but you’re back in that gymnasium watching him practice. Even when he finally pulls out, even when he pulls you close, even when he snuggles into the junction of your shoulder.
Kageyama hasn’t changed one bit.

Tobio Kageyama's thing with hugs
Tumblr media
Part two: Take care of yourself (Sugawara & Kageyama)
Kageyama has a thing with hugs. Sure, he's touch starved enough to appreciate any form of physical affection- but there's something about hugs that does things to his chest. Things he'd never say out loud. Things that, eventually, he says anyway.
(aka. kageyama has a thing for hugs. he & the other karazuno boys realize this, after a few particular situations where each of the members hugs kageyama for the first time. based on this post)
Warnings: none! kageyama mentions feeling a bit insecure, but it's all very soft aside from that!
Practice had been pretty chill, that day. After a sudden spur of relentless improvement in each of the players' new moves, due to their even more exhaustive training, it was a bit weird to have a practice day when things just felt... normal.
Now, Sugawara was just as excited as everyone else for the preliminar matches, and just as motivated to get better- if not more. There was still that little sting of insecurity inside his chest, knowing most of the first years were titular players now, while he was stuck at the bench. Then again, he tried to push himself to use that as motivation to keep practicing, to keep improving, and to make the most out of whatever time he got to play at any matches.
It was nice, however, to have a more relaxed practice sometimes. He knows better than anyone how easy it is for his teammates (and him, too, sometimes) to get caught up in the deep desire to keep getting better, to keep winning- so much that they'd forget that practicing moves they were already good at was also part of training, and that taking care of themselves was also crucial if they wanted to do their best at every match.
Not everyone was as content as him with the unusually calm practice, though. At least Kageyama didn't seem to be.
They had both been setting for the strikers to practice their regular attacks, for a bit over 10 minutes now. Suga felt nice- everyone had a relaxed smile on their faces, and most of the players seemed happy enough with each of their strikes. They took their time between each attack, which meant they didn't get quite as tired as they did some other days. He felt good seeing the smile on Azumane's face, specially. He felt good knowing he could get that smile on his face with his sets, even if they weren't as perfect as Kageyama's.
At some point, out of habit, Suga glanced at the other setter. His dark brows were scrunched together in a frown that was just a bit deeper than his usual serious resting face, eyes focused on the ball as he continued setting- yet he didn't seem like he was actually looking at it. His lips were tightly pressed together. He kept tapping his foot on the floor in an anxious manner, whenever he was waiting for another player to set for. His restless thoughts were so loud and fast, Suga could almost feel them.
— Hey, Kageyama! — he exclaimed, as he continued to set for the other players — why the frown?
The black haired boy had briefly glared at him, his frown deepening as he pressed his lips tightly together. Suga gave him a nervous smile.
— Nothing. Focus on practicing.
Ouch.
He'd never been the best at aproaching Kageyama- none of them were, really. The boy was closed off and painfully reserved, yet the playful tone he had whenever he scolded someone, his teasing and sarcastic jokes let Suga know he was probably desperate to get closer to them. Desperate to let someone in- to trust them. Perhaps he just didn't know how to go about it-
Perhaps he didn't know how to trust, at all.
Practice went by smoothly, despite the younger setter's mood being slightly off. Ukai dismissed them with a small smile on his face, and made note to mention how proud he was of their recent drastic improvement, as well as remind them to take care of themselves and rest. Sugawara discreetly glanced at Kageyama, and found he still had that slightly uncomfortable look on his face.
The grayhaired boy had caught himself thinking about that quite a few times, naturally. He cared about his team, and about his teammates- not only as players, but as friends and people. That applied to Kageyama as well, even if they weren't quite as close. Which meant he had noticed his anxious attitude that day, and had immediately decided to try and do something about it. He just had to figure out what.
— Alright, it's Suga's turn to close up today — Daichi announced, as soon as the professor and coach had left the gym
Suga nodded, smiling at their team captain. The other players hurried in and out of the changing rooms, seemingly eager to go home for a good night of rest.
Everyone except Hinata and Kageyama, of course.
— I wish I could stay and practice a bit more, too! — Hinata whined and pouted, as he made his way to the door — Family's coming over tonight, though
— Whatever, it's fine, — he thought he almost saw a pout threatening to form in Kageyama's lips as well, as he replied to Hinata— I'm probably not gonna stay too much longer, either
Suga watched the two wave goodbye to each other, while he also said goodbye to the rest of the team.
After that, he made his way to the storage room and gave a quick glance around, to make sure everything seemed to be put away correctly. He locked up the door to the storage room and grabbed his bag from the bench next to the court, where he had left it during practice. He let out a yawn, stretching his arms and rolling his wrists softly while he entered the changing room. It was quiet, as expected.
He splashed water on his face and looked at himself in the mirror for a moment. He looked at his own resting expression- a small, gentle smile on his lips, his eyes as kind as always. He wondered- sure, he knew how to speak to people in a way that helped them feel comfortable, secure. Cared for. He had a hard time when it came to Kageyama, though- the boy didn't seem to appreciate his caring attitude as much as others. It hurted him a bit, to be honest. But he was still determined to figure out a way to help his teammate out- he just had to come up with a different way to approach the situation.
He let out a small sigh, trying not to let the frustration get to him. He ran a hand through his gray hair as he walked towards the lockers, and was surprised by the sight of a black haired boy sitting on the bench, tying his shoes.
— Oh, hey! — he waved and gave him a small smile — Didn't know you were still here
Kageyama was looking down at his own feet, but as soon as the other spoke, his head shot up so quickly he was almost scared he'd get dizzy from the sudden movement.
— Suga— he muttered, eyes wide and mouth slightly open
Sugawara sat down next to him and felt the other boy's eyes follow him. Even he could feel Kageyama's intense and nerve-wrecking stare on him, Suga made sure to keep a soft smile on his face.
— How are you doing? I noticed you were a bit tense at practice today
Kageyama looked back down at his own feet. He had finished tying up his shoes, it seemed. He placed his hands on one of his knees to rest his chin on them and frowned slightly, pressing his lips together. This time, though, his frown was different- he seemed to be contemplating something. Suga stayed silent, and let him take a few seconds to answer.
— Sorry. Didn't mean to be rude earlier — Kageyama's voice was low, eyes still focused on his own shoes.
— It's fine! I get it. I just wanted to make sure you're okay- but I know it can get a bit annoying sometimes
Suga scratched the back of his neck apologetically and redirected his focus to the floor. From the corner of his eyes, he could see the younger boy biting his bottom lip.
— No, it's not annoying — he admitted — I just... I don't know, I was just in a bad mood today. Sorry
— Yeah, I figured so
— I just... — he stressed his bottom lip, and made a pause before continuing — I- I don't know. It just felt wrong to have such a slow practice day. I feel like I'm wasting time
Suga looked up at him again, but Kageyama's eyes remained firm on his own feet. His brows were scrunched together in concentration, and his lips were slightly tilted downwards in a discontented expression. Suga raised a brow, questioning.
— We still practiced a lot though. It's not wasted time
— I know, — Kageyama sighed — I don't mean you guys. I just...
His blue eyes raised up to Suga for a brief moment, for the first time since the conversation had started, but he quickly looked away. His expression softened into something that, Suga guesses, seemed somewhat like sadness.
Kageyama didn't say anything else for a few minutes.
The silence between them wasn't particularly tense, but it felt heavy. Sugawara looked at the lockers, seeing each of them decorated with stickers and other things that, although it might not be obvious at first sight, reflected a bit of each of his teammates' personalities. His own locker had a few stickers- one of them was a flower that Nishinoya had drawn for him. Another one a cup of coffee, with steam coming out of it.
Kageyama's locker door was plain, except for a sticker Hinata had randomly given him one day, of a blue, white and yellow volleyball.
He looked back at the boy sitting infront of him.
At the end of the day, Suga was fairly good at reading his friends- at taking care of them, and knowing what they needed. Even if he didn't always fully understand what was going through their heads, he somehow managed to figure out what they needed to hear.
So why would Kageyama be an exception?
— You know, — he began speaking in a soft voice, almost hesitantly — you need to rest too, just like everyone else
— I know. I sleep well and I take breaks and all that stuff.
— Yeah, but I don't mean just that — Suga turned around slightly, so that he was facing the other setter — You do realize you don't need to be constantly making big improvements, right?
Kageyama frowned.
— What do you mean?
— Like, it's physically impossible for you to unlock a new move every single practice, or to get drastically better every time you play — he gesticulated with his hand, casually — and frankly, you don't need to, either.
Kageyama looked at him, deep blue eyes suddenly so soft, Sugawara couldn't help but feel fondness for the boy.
— You're a great player, and you're really valuable to the team. Relaxing a bit in practice every now and then won't change that.
If he saw Kageyama's eyes water up and his lower lip tremble, well- no one really had to know.
— Thank you.
Suga's lips turned upwards in a warm smile, and he placed a reassuring hand on his teammate's shoulder.
— Of course. We really appreciate you, aight'? Try to relax a bit. You'll be just fine, and we all need to rest a bit right now anyways.
Kageyama nodded and looked at the floor.
Suga was fairly good at reading his friends, at comforting them and knowing what they needed to hear. At taking care of them. And right now, looking at that tall, genius player sitting down infront of him, shoulders heavy and eyes soft in something that looked like insecurity, like racing anxious thoughts inside his head- Sugawara thought Kageyama needed a hug.
He was fairly good at reading his friends. So why would Kageyama be an exception?
He got slightly closer to the boy, his movements thoughtfully slow as he dared to wrap his arms around Kageyama's body. He was careful, as if any sudden movement could scare him away. He felt Kageyama's muscles tense up, but he simply rested his cheek on the younger's head. Everyone knew Kageyama had no trouble pushing anyone away if they got too comfortable in his personal space for his liking, after all. If he didn't like it, he'd certainly push Suga away without doubting it for a second.
Instead, he just melted in his arms.
Suga doesn't think he's ever seen him like that- eyes fluttered shut, a relaxed expression on his face. Kageyama let out a sigh that almost sounded relieved. Like he had been burning for the last few months, and Suga's body had suddenly put down the painful fire the second he pressed it against him in a hug. He dared rub gentle circles on the boy's back, tracing his shoulders and softly petting his hair.
And Kageyama just melted.
He melted, and let himself stay there- enveloped in the warmth of the hug for however long it took before one of them remembered they needed to get home. Suga didn't keep track of time; he didn't need to.
He would've let Kageyama stay like that, content and safe in his arms, for as long as he needed.
AAAAA second chapter!!! im actually kinda surprised/proud of myself for writting another part for this story lol. i've been having trouble finishing anything i start writting, and tbh i hadn't rlly written much for like two years? so when i finished the first part i was like Oh Nice !! but i assumed it would take me a few weeks to write smth else. but yeah, i'm happy i could finish this one too lol. it's a bit longer than expected, but i kinda like it and i hope yall like it too!! stay safe 💜

haikyu boys when you overwork yourself
volleyball player!reader
characters included: kageyama, oikawa, suna
kageyama tobio:
i feel like as someone who works super hard at his sport he’d totally get it
but he’d still be concerned
like if you were working yourself to the point where you’re exhausted to death after training and can barely keep a convo from tiredness
so you’d be waking up at the crack of dawn before the nationals season
then you’d barely have energy to talk to him cause you’re so tired
and he notices this continues for a while
one day he walks in to your school gymnasium looking for you and sees you practicing jump serves
and there are like hundreds of balls on the other side of the court indicating how much you’ve practised
and he sees you sweaty as shit, shorts riding up, thighs literally shaking from the amount of jumping you’ve done
he finds it kinda hot though
he’s still worried about you because you actually look EXHAUSTED beyond reasonable
so he’s had enough of his gf being stressed over nationals and low on energy and with sore muscles all over but still training hardcore
as i said he’d totally get it bc he does that too but seeing it on his precious volleyball playing girl just hits different
so while you’re on your tenth serve (since he got there), he strolls over to you and calls out
“oi, stop overexerting yourself. your body’s not gonna make it to nationals if you keep pushing it too much. and i don’t like seeing you so stressed and low on energy.”
but then without waiting for you to respond, he grabs your wrist and drags you to your gym bag
helps you pack up and carries the bag for you
then holds your hand and pulls you out of the gym amidst your protests
“you’re not training anymore today. relax. have a good dinner. you haven’t done that in a while.”
then he brings you to your fav yakitori place
when you’re there, you order your favourite rice or noodle dish, and you both share a shit ton of meat
tobio lectures you over dinner over how you’re overworking yourself
but he also shows he cares a lot he’s so cute
“hey. you’re an amazing player. don’t stress and overwork yourself unnecessarily. i love you so take care of yourself.”
then he insists on paying for both of you
THEN he brings you for some absolutely banger dessert
you go home and he runs a hot bath for you, then massages your aching muscles
i feel like his skilled setter hands give good massages for some reason
anyway he literally releases all the tension in your muscles
and then cuddles you to sleep and makes sure you don’t get up at an ungodly hour to train again the next morning
overall super caring and concerned for you
oikawa tooru:
remember how i said kageyama completely empathises with you overworking yourself
yeah well oikawa gets it even more
but he definitely sees that you’re overworked and he gets concerned
i think he’d actually help you in training though
so for the fifth evening that week (it’s friday), you’re staying back till what must be eleven practicing with your teammate
said teammate is just tossing the ball for you to practise setting
oikawa gets upset when his precious sugar angel honey pie (sorry but that’s such an oikawa way of thinking) isn’t home in his arms to sleep
so he gets up and goes to your school gym to look for you
you’ve been there every day that week, he’s just had enough now that you didn’t even come home at his sleeping time
so there you are on your god knows how many-eth set and he bursts through the door
when he sees you doing some setting, he feels his setter passion and also his “she’s my gf i love her” passion and goes to help you
he corrects your form and all that
oh and he dismissed your said teammate the moment he got there lol
but after 5 minutes of helping you out he brings out the lecture
“babe, you’re working too hard. i know you’re worried for nationals but rest is necessary. you haven’t had a proper dinner at all this week, think i didn’t know?”
you respond to him, “but i have a proper lunch before training! and—“
“and nothing. you’re overworked. you’re not sleeping enough either, but you’re still training this much. 5 more minutes and we’re going home.”
when you get home he’s literally pampering you
ran you a bath and had food delivered while you were soaking in there
fed you in bed, then cuddled you
trains with you the next day (saturday) so he can regulate how much strain you put on your body and make sure you stop before it gets too intense
also because he loves you and wants so spend time with you lol
brings you for a lunch date and makes you have an afternoon nap with him
suna rintaro:
you’ve been working super hard for the tournament
there’s like a month till the season starts
your team has been having endless friendly games where you’d play like ten sets
but your team mates would actually ask for bench time when their muscles ache and throat tightens because they don’t want to over exhaust themselves
but you and your passion makes you stubbornly stay on for all ten sets
and your coach advises you against it but no way you’re gonna listen
and you’ve been overworking yourself since long before that days match btw
suna’s been missing having you as his dinner date but you’ve been insisting on staying late for practice
he keeps telling you not to overwork yourself but you keep telling him you aren’t
on a sunday, he asks you out for a cafe date, but you decline because you’ve got a practice match scheduled
despite thinking you’re wayyy too exhausted, he knows how much practice matches mean to you for your experience, so he lets you go without any protests
but halfway through the fifth set, as you’re trying to save a ball, you have an off landing
and you hear a nasty ass crack in your ankle
you convince yourself it’s just a small twist and it’ll wear off once you stand up and get moving, but you find yourself unable to get off the floor due to the pain
against all your protests, the coach orders you off the court and gets your teammate to help ice and elevate your ankle
after some examining, it’s determined that it’s a minor sprain, nothing too serious that’ll keep you from playing at the tournament
but coach still tells you to stay away from training or any exercise requiring you on your feet for the next week or so
and you’re sososososo pissed about that because what passionate girlie is okay with missing training??
so you’re sobbing angry tears as you watch your team from the sidelines
because you’re frustrated with yourself
“like, just stick the landing and don’t be on the bench right now, it’s not that hard??”
doesn’t help that you’re an ace player and not used to the bench feeling
after training, your team mates offer to walk you home to support you and your sprained and aching ankle, but you decline
cause you know who the one person who can make you feel better is
so you sit on the gym floor, dialling your fav number to dial
“rintaro?”
“sup, babe? your practice over?”
“yeah, about that…”
suna picks up on the disappointment in your tone and knows smt didn’t go right
you tell him how you sprained your ankle and can’t exactly walk properly and how you declined your team mates offers to walk you home cause you know he’s the one whose presence would make you feel better
so he’s up and going (to your gymnasium)
when he gets there, he sees you on the floor with your foot propped up
you look downcast, so he calls out to you as he walks in and squats next to you
“told ya you’re overworking yourself. ankle sprains are a stress injury, you know.”
you grunt as he goes to pick up your duffel bag and slings it over his shoulder
then, he holds his hand out to you, and you pull yourself up, standing on your good foot
he sees your struggle to stand, and sighs
then, without warning, he just picks you up so that you’re hanging over his shoulder, just like your duffel bag
“what the hell, rin.”
“you can barely walk. and we’re going to the cafe i was going to bring you to. take it as some relaxation. and a make up date for all the time you’ve been away from me. also, you better not overwork yourself and try to train through your injury.”
it kinda takes away from the loving moment since you’re hanging over his shoulder like a dead fish, but you can tell he cares
and it’s sweet, though you know he’s gonna have some kinda told you so recording soon

What do you think about Tobio being autistic? And how Hinata helps him learn how to interact with other people?
Thank you for this ask!!! Also so sorry it took me this long to answer it 😭 I've been super busy and I tend to forget to check my ask askbox for a while haha
Anyway, autistic!Kageyama is so ingrained in my head that I sometimes forget it's not canon lol. There are so many little hints in the story, like, from the top of my head: his routine, his meticulous care with his nails, the way he thinks so much in terms of sensory stimuli (the way the gym smells, the colors, the texture of the floor, etc.) He also openly admits to having trouble when it comes to telling what his peers are feeling, and sometimes he's a little blunt and says things he probably shouldn't say, but it's absolutely not malicious. He's just bad with social cues haha (sometimes he also takes things too literally/ at face value)
This is where Hinata comes in: he's notably good with people, and often works to bridge the gap between Kageyama and others. He's also the one person Kageyama is closest to and the one he never has trouble reading, so I love the idea of Hinata acting as a translator for him!
For me, I think the moment it clicked that Tobio might be autistic was that iconic first high-five with Tanaka. He just looked so confused, and i thought, impossible. There's no way this boy has never seen people high fiving each other. And then it dawned on me that his teammates back a Kitagawa probably did, Tobio simply couldn't understand why or what it meant. And so when people tried to high five him, he expressed the same confusion, they thought he was being an asshole, and it just widened the gap between him and the rest of the team.
Anyway, I can't speak about authorial intent - I honestly have no idea if Furudate intended for his character to be read as autistic (especially since Haikyuu came out over ten years ago and there wasn't as much awareness about it as there is now.) Still, he's got a lot of key traits, and I definitely think about him this way.

Hi hiiii, back again to req some head cannons with the Pretty Setter Squad ™ and their ways of showing affection? I.e. love languages, pet names, etc. 🫶🫶🫶
PLEASE AND THANK YOU POOKIE!!!😻😻😻😻✨✨✨✨
hey pookie wookie dookie kookie bear ofc id make those hc for you
The Pretty Setter Squad includes: Tooru Oikawa (Aoba Johsai) Koushi Sugawara (Karasuno) Kenma Kozume (Nekoma) Tobio Kageyama (Karauno) Keiji Akaashi (Fukurodani)
I know setters like Atsumu and Shirabu are in it as well, but just for time purposes I won’t be including them, sry ^^
┊┊❁ཻུ۪۪♡ ͎. 。˚ °
BOYFRIEND HEADCANONS (fem!reader)
Oikawa:
He is whipped for you.
Like, whipped whipped. Even more whipped than whipped cream.
He loves getting tiny little gifts for you, as well as cuddling literally everywhere and anywhere. He loves PDA and will not pass up the chance to kiss you.
He loves showing you off, especially to Iwaizumi. “My girlfriend is so much prettier than yours!” “I DON’T EVEN HAVE A GIRLFRIEND TRASHYKAWA!” “Oops, I forgot! Ehe~”
He’s scared that you’ll leave him, just like his ex, so he tries his hardest to make you happy.
Oh my gawd he loves kissing you
He will kiss you on your lips, on your nose, on your cheeks, even on your fucking eyebrows (unless you don’t have eyebrows but thats a bit weird)
He praises you for the littlest things, and it's all genuine. He may make it seem like a joke, but you can tell that he means everything that he says to you.
He always texts with emoticons like (ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥ and ≧◉◡◉≦. He texts you very frequently and replies almost immediately. Every morning and night, he texts you “good morning” and “good night”
He gets very jealous. Whenever his teammates come near you, he (very loudly) tells them to back off and hides you from them. He doesn’t reveal to his fangirls that you're his girlfriend, because he knows that they’re probably gonna harass you.
He’s extremely affectionate and touchy, like I said before. He showers you with love and loves giving you piggy back rides.
If you were fine with it, he would probably make out with you in the middle of the street without shame
He’s gotten hit in the face with a volleyball before because he was too busy admiring your face.
Pet names: baby, babe, [nickname], and he’s probably called you sexy mama before
Your guys’ first kiss was during New Years. You guys were way too tired to go to the festival, so you guys crashed at his place and watched alien/action movies all night. At one point in the movie, a kissing scene came on and Oikawa was like “Hey wanna try that” and a second later, yall were making out. ┊┊❁ཻུ۪۪♡ ͎. 。˚ °
Sugawara:
He’s very protective and caring towards you! His mama instincts kick in and he always makes sure you’ve eaten and slept a proper amount.
He loves you to the ends of the earth. He’s aware of all your boundaries and respects you, but he also teases you a lot.
Head pats
He gives you a lot of head pats
He likes holding hands and giving tiny little pecks on the lips in public, but he won’t do anything outlandish like making out (unlike Oikawa). It's all up to you whether you want to be publicly affectionate or not.
He listens to all your problems and gives you the best advice.
He’s pretty affectionate. He always smiles at you whenever you’re doing something, because you're just so pretty. He can never stop himself from blushing whenever you guys make eye contact.
His first priority is your happiness and comfort. He’s willing to sit with you in silence or have deep conversations about relationships.
He’s so insanely cliche, but you love that about him. He’s always finding new pickup lines and actions that make you cringe but laugh.
He texts long messages like “hi baby! Hope your having a good day <3 remember to eat your lunch and get your full eight hours of sleep! I’ll call you later so just text me if you need anything! Love you <3 - your hubby” and then you’ll probably reply with “ok”
He gets jealous really fast, but he doesn’t show it or do anything until you get uncomfortable in the situation. At that point, he would glare at whoever made you uncomfortable and drag you away. He is very scary when he’s mad, so that person would probably never come near you guys again. If you’re simply just talking to another guy, Suga snaps whatever he’s holding in his hand and he starts mumbling to himself angrily. Daichi and Asahi tease him a lot about his jealousy issue.
Pet names: honey, baby, angel, sugarplum, sweetheart, [nickname].
Your guys’ first kiss was after Karasuno won against Shiratorizawa. You had specifically told him you would kiss him if he won, so right after the game ended, you ran up to him and slammed your lips onto his. All his teammates whistled and clapped (Noya and Tanaka cried tears of envy) ┊┊❁ཻུ۪۪♡ ͎. 。˚ °
Kenma:
“She’s just my girlfriend, you guys are being overdramatic” *has an entire album with pictures of you*
He’s not a big fan of PDA, nor is he physically affectionate. He shows his love through gifts and small, short texts like “eat” or “sleep” that may not seem meaningful, but you know that it’s just his way of saying “i fucking love you and you better take care of yourself”
He’s fucking rich so he gets you whatever you want
(sugar daddy?)
He’s usually quiet, but becomes a big chatterbox once you guys start talking about games. He talks the most when he’s with you, and he loves spending time with you.
He likes it when you put your head on his lap while he’s playing games, but he gets distracted by your gorgeousness and loses his game
Like I said before, he’s not into PDA but if there’s not that many people around/there’s too many people around, he’ll hold your hand. He’s much more intimate in private and loves cuddling with you.
His kisses are very soft and short, but they make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. He pecks your lips or kisses your forehead when you're sleeping.
He’s a little awkward when it comes to deep conversations, but he always manages to say what you want to hear.
Bro could not care less if another guy started talking to you. He doesn’t get jealous easily, but he’s willing to do anything to get you out of an uncomfortable situation. ‘Anything’ ranges from “c’mon, we’re gonna be late for dinner” and dragging you away to tripping the guy and making him fall flat on his face, then running away together.
Pet names: [nickname], baby (if he’s feeling particularly perky that day)
Your guys’ first kiss was sort of forced upon by Kuroo. The stupid rooster boy was like “lol you guys should kiss if you're really dating” and you and Kenma stared at him and then at each other. There was a moment of silence, and Kenma just kinda kissed you on the cheek, and that was that. (“ON THE LIPS!” Kuroo had yelled “I MEANT ON THE LIPS!”) ┊┊❁ཻུ۪۪♡ ͎. 。˚ °
Kageyama:
Pretty shy when you guys started dating, but he’s warmed up to you now and he loves spending time with you
He knows everything about you, from your favourite colour to your favourite type of turtles. He always buys you your favourite drink at school, and makes mental notes whenever you say that you like/dislike something.
Like Kenma, he’s not a big fan of PDA and he’s not very physically affectionate either. He’s bad with his words as well, so his love language is mostly quality time and gift giving.
He’s rough (interpret that however you want)
He’s a pretty slow texter and he never checks his phone
At home, he’s fine with cuddles but he gets restless and wants to move after five minutes.
He doesn’t even hold your hand in public, unless there’s a lot of people around and he doesn’t want you to get lost
He’s the small spoon most of the time. I don’t know why, he just is.
You tutor him! He’s pretty stupid so you help him with his tests and stuff (unless you're stupid too.)
He’s pretty oblivious and doesn’t notice if a guy is flirting with you unless it's his teammates. When it comes to the other first years and second years, Kageyama blows a fuse when you’re hanging out with them and not him. He glares at everyone from behind you, making them all skedaddle.
Please be understanding of his volleyball obsession, if not he might break up with you
Pet names: [nickname] (that's it. he gets embarrassed when you use pet names on him, and he never really uses pet names on you)
Your guys’ first kiss was after his game against Bluecastle (the one that Karauno won). When the game ended, you screamed so loud that everyone stared at you, and you probably lept off the stands to go give Kageyama a kiss. Hinata, Noya, and Tanaka watched with envying eyes while Yachi squealed loudly. ┊┊❁ཻུ۪۪♡ ͎. 。˚ °
Akaashi:
This just in but this man would look so hot in a turtleneck–
Moving on
Akaashi is very sweet and very attentive. He’s literally the definition of perfection. He redefines perfection. PERFECTION WANTS TO BE HIM
He listens to all your problems and offers you very constructive feedback, not holding back to expose you if you happen to be in the wrong. But he does it in a very polite and “i’m not trying to be mean, i’m just being honest” way so you never get mad at him
He makes all the meals, cleans the house, gives you a ride wherever you want, makes the bed, and does the laundry. He is literal husband material.
He doesn’t hate or love PDA. He’s fine with little kisses, holding hands, and back hugs, but he’d rather not do anything too intimate when there’s people around. That being said, once you guys are alone, he’s willing to go all out.
CUDDLES
C U D D L E S
Please cuddle with him
His kisses can be soft and be rough. Just tell him what you want and he’ll oblige because he’s amazing like that
He doesn’t get jealous a lot. He just doesn’t feel the need to be jealous, because he has faith and trust in you. If you're uncomfortable, he’ll step in right away and tell whoever’s making you uncomfortable to back off.
He tutors you. He also tutors Bokuto, but sometimes the latter gets too annoying, so Akaashi kicks him out and only tutors you instead.
Pet names: baby, honey, [nickname], and he’s probably called you little gremlin or something like that just to tease you
Your guys’ first kiss was on your fourth or fifth date. He asked for permission first, since he’s a gentleman like that, and he gave you the sweetest little kiss on the lips, making you practically melt into the floor. You guys happened to be at a cafe, so everybody that saw clapped and ‘awed’. ┊┊❁ཻུ۪۪♡ ͎. 。˚ °
┊┊❁ཻུ۪۪♡ ͎. 。˚ °
as you can tell i love akaashi

Look At Me!! (≧□≦)
Haikyuu boys x Artist!Reader
[Part 1] – [Part 2]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— Summary: You're from the art club, and for a project involving the volleyball club, you need to draw someone on the team, but that someone isn't him, and he definitely doesn't like it.
— Characters: Tsukishima, Ushijima.
— Warning/Notes: Jealous crush, misunderstanding.
— Fluff
— Gn!Reader
Tumblr media
You are part of your school's art club, and since the president of your club has several connections around the school as he was the former president of the student council , they agreed to a collaboration between the two clubs with the aim of making a special project.
Each member of the art club would be tasked with drawing a picture of a volleyball team player, and at the end, the drawings would be displayed throughout the school; One of the main objectives of doing this was that this project could attract more people to want to participate in the clubs involved.
And to avoid conflicts between several people wanting to draw the same person, the president of your club decided that he would choose who each person would draw.
But this unfortunately meant that you were unable to make an art of the one that remained in your thoughts for a while. That's right, your crush was part of the volleyball club, but you never had the courage to reveal your feelings to him, because you thought he wouldn't feel the same way about you. But little do you know that he would be bothered by the fact that you "chose" to draw someone other than him... (he doesn't know that you actually wanted to do the project with him)
Tumblr media
Tsukishima Kei
Tsukishima really didn't expect you to choose him and he didn't have so many expectations about it, so he tried not to care about this project. But among all the members of the volleyball team, why would you choose Kageyama? Really, why him?
Of course, Kageyama is very popular at school due to his appearance and technique as a setter, but he swears he once accidentally overheard a conversation with a friend of yours saying that you "prefers smart guys", so why did you choose someone as stupid as him? Besides the fact that middle blockers are much more interesting than setters, this should be common sense.
He really tries to pretend he doesn't care about it and does his part of the project with one of your friends from the art club, but Yamaguchi being the concerned friend that he is, notices the looks Tsukishima gives you and Tobio. He couldn't help but see the way you look at the setter when you draw him, damn he doesn't want to admit it but he really wishes it was him instead of Kageyama.
But it's not just his best friend who notices the blonde's abnormal behavior, his teammates have also noticed that Tsukishima is more acidic than normal, never holding his tongue when throwing sarcastic comments at others, especially at the first year setter. Besides, it seemed like he was trying harder in training, even if it was just a little.
After a match, Ukai took a 5-minute break for everyone to rest and get back to practicing. Tsukishima was further away from his teammates, with his bottle of water in his hand, and you were in the stands with your friends from your club. You and your friend were talking quietly, but it was still loud enough for Tsukishima to hear, after all, he was close to where you were, and it seems like you didn't notice that.
"Wow...you must be loving drawing Kageyama, right? I wanted to get him to draw, but then the president comes up with that stupid idea of choosing for everyone..." your friend says with a frustrated expression, resting her face on the bleachers railing. "Sort of... I actually wish I was drawing someone else right now..." the last part you speak a little lower, furrowing your eyebrows in irritation.
"Really!? Who??" she says excitedly to you, immediately changing her mood. "It's a secret..." you lean on the railing, looking at the court.
With your gaze you analyze the court, looking for a certain blonde, and when you see him, you realize that he is looking at you. When you realize this, you break eye contact immediately, looking away embarrassed, you can even feel your cheeks heat up.
Your friend looks at you with a grin on her face, laughing at your shy expression. "A secret, huh?" you playfully push her shoulder as you try to change the subject to cover up that she just discovered your little crush on the middle blocker.
Tsukishima blushes slightly at your words, but soon recovers when he sees Yamaguchi heading towards him. "Tsukki!! You're a little red, did something happen??" "Is nothing."
Tumblr media
Wakatoshi Ushijima
He really doesn't understand.
Volleyball is his main focus in his life, since he was little he has always loved the sport, and he is getting closer and closer to achieving his goals, in addition to getting good grades and being the highlight of Shiratorizawa, he is truly a role model to be followed. So it can be said that his life is pretty peaceful these days.
But if everything is really fine, so why does he feel a pang in his chest when he sees that you supposedly chose Goshiki over him? Why can't he stop looking towards the two of you, trying to figure out what you're thinking at the moment? Why does he wish deep down that instead of Goshiki it was him by your side?
Of course, he liked his kouhai, and even supports him in his goal of being the next ace of the renowned school, however, the only competition he would fight against the youngest would be who would win your heart.
Maybe what he was thinking at the moment would be a bit dramatic to other people who heard his thoughts at the moment, but "drama" is not in Ushijima's vocabulary. Just "sincerity", he is someone who doesn't like beating around the bush, and prefers to get straight to the point. But sometimes he doesn't realize he's being too sincere.
You were discussing some ideas with Goshiki about how he would like the art to look, as well as making some sketches of his face as training, but you stop when you hear footsteps coming towards you. When you turn back, you see the great ace that everyone talks about at school and beyond.
When you realize that he is looking seriously at you, you tremble a little due to the intense look he is directing at you. But you feel nervous at the thought that the boy you always admire from afar is coming to talk to you.
"[Name], why didn't you choose me?" You look at him confused, not understanding what he meant. "W-What?" Ushijima takes another step towards you, moving closer to you.
"The project. Why did you choose Goshiki over me?" At this point all of his team friends were already shocked to hear him talking to you, it was almost like he was jealous... "Well... actually it wasn't me who chose him, but the president of our club, and I just accepted what he said..."
"Ah I see, so in that case I will talk to him so that you can be the person to participate in the project with me. I won't accept anyone other than you." and with this statement, he just turns and leaves as if nothing had happened.
Tendou, curious and disbelieved by the situation, quickly approaches his friend. "What was that Waka-kun?? Do you like them that much?" says the boy in a teasing tone, smiling playfully at his friend. "I just trust their abilities as an artist, that's all."
Tumblr media
— A/N: For this one, I'm planning to do a part 2 with other characters, so I'm accepting suggestions for other characters that I can write in this situation!! Feel free to send it to me and I will accept it! 🌷

Comforting Them After Losing a Match
Haikyuu x reader pt 2
Featuring: Wakatoshi Ushijima, Kei Tsukishima, Tooru Oikawa, and Tobio Kageyama
~Losing is never easy, but luckily your boyfriend has you to make them feel better when they are at their lowest.
Tumblr media
Wakatoshi Ushijima- Radiates a dangerously silent energy that makes the others on his team hesitant to talk to him. Little do they know it only makes him feel more responsible. As he cools off under the cold stream of water from the locker room shower he thinks of every opportunity he had to score a point for his team. Internally he feels that since he is one of the physically strongest on the court he should’ve been strong enough to have saved his team from the loss.
After all those hours of sitting in silence stewing on his own mistakes on the team bus ride back, he finds you waiting for him in the car. He gives you a small hello as he settles into the passenger seat. You don’t say anything but you gently reach over and grab his large hand and hold it in silence for the ride.
He won’t speak, but he squeezes your hand tightly as his own way of saying: Thank you for being here for me
Kei Tuskishima
His fingers hurt, his fingers hurt because of the ball that ricocheted off of his hands before hitting the floor below him.
It’s a nuisance, especially because his failed block was the game-winning point. The bruising digits will be a reminder of his shortcomings for the rest of the week. Or at least, that’s what he thinks as the trainer tapes them up.
His sharp tongue has cost him many relationships in the past, so he knows to distance himself from his teammates, so he doesn’t say anything he regrets.
When he was younger, he would say that it’s just volleyball, he doesn’t care. But he does, Kei Tsukishma cares a lot. And he needs someone who cares a lot about him.
That’s where you come in, you care so much. It’s visible in every movement you make. The way you cut his face, the way you kiss the pain away from every one of his bruised fingers. And the way you listen to him talk about his frustrations judgment free.
After his rant, his heart feels lighter, and he knows he doesn’t have to say it but he looks at you and softly mumbles it out anyway.
“Thank you for listening to me.”
Tooru Oikawa
“ Tooru Oikawa is not a genius“
That stupid phrase from high school always seems to find it’s way back to his ears. This time, The phrase came from some pompous sports broadcaster following his teams loss.
He tried so hard to make a difference on the court today, his sets were perfect, and all of his blocks made their mark. But it wasn’t enough to secure a win.
After hard matches like these, you know just where you’ll find him. Most of the lights are off in the gym, but that doesn’t matter. So as long as there’s a net and a few inflated volleyballs, that’s where he’ll be.
His earlier tear tracks are visible on his face, his usually perfect brown locks stick to his forehead with sweat. But he continues to serves ball after ball over the net with a frightening force.
He’s frustrated, very frustrated. But he won’t stop, he can never stop.
Because he’s not a genius.
He has to work twice as hard to be great.
It gets to the point where you have to pry the volleyball from his tense grip to prevent him from serving another ball over the net.
The ball bounces away, it’s sound echoing throughout the gym and his arms wrap around you tightly.
His face buries itself into your neck and as you stand there locked in his shaking embrace, you know that to him, the fact that you are still there means the world to him.
Tobio Kageyama
When the final whistle blows, the air in his lungs is smothered in the feeling of loss. He carries that feeling with him the whole bus ride home.
He’s spent, but even as he dreams, all he can think about are the moments during the match when he let his team down, when he let you down.
He puts so much of his self worth in his volleyball prowess that he feels a sense of relief whenever you come to pick him up.
You didn't leave him.
He’s clingy in the car ride home, after feeling so down and isolated he grabs onto your hand and refuses let go the whole hour drive. He enjoys the car rides, you fill the void with things that aren’t volleyball, it’s almost as if volleyball isn’t everything.
He doesn’t have a lot to say, but he loves to hear sound of your voice, the way you ask him about the little details from his trip like what kind of food was at the hotel’s breakfast, and if he liked the book you recommended for the bus ride.
You don’t ask about the match, you know all about it. But you know that Tobio doesn’t need a reminder about the loss. Instead you shower him with all the love that you have to give him.
Because, your boyfriend is slowly learning that he is still worthy of love even if he doesn’t win.

Summary: The All Japan Youth Training Camp comes to an end, which leads to amazing friendships and the eventful reunion with your boyfriend. The Nationals arrived after a short Christmas celebration, and so did your first match.
Kenma x reader; Haikyuu x reader
Part 13 - Part 14 - Part 15
From the beginning
The first thing that the guys did the next morning was another practice match. You see Atsumu serving with his jump float, however it looks different than usual, softer almost. After Atsumu receives a ball, the last hit is tossed to Hoshiumi, who jumps even higher than when you first saw him play, sending the ball to the end line.
“You DID get better Hoshiumi! That jump was higher than before!” you exclaim
“I know! I told you, you will be surprised!”
“Oh sorry, I interrupted” you look at the coaches
“It’s alright, that’s why you're here after all. Something else you want to say?”
“Ehh…Eikichi-kun, is that really how high you can reach? Cause personally, I think you can reach higher, you’re tall yet your jumps are quite low, not as they could be”
“But this is how I spike the best…”
“But imagine how powerful and cool it would be if you get used to hitting the ball a little higher while being left handed. Can you try to do it for a few plays?” you ask using your best convincing tone
“S-sure it doesn’t hurt to try. It does sounds cool after all” he blushes
“Yay! Tobio-kun, you got it?” you call the young boy while going back to the coaches
“Yes, Yn-san, I’ll take care of it”
“I’m surprised that you were able to convince a spiker to try something new, usually they prefer to go with what’s easier for them” a coach says once the game resumes
“They are still teenagers, it's easy to convince them once you tell them how powerful or cool something can be. And being a girl helps a lot, specially since most here don't know me that much”
“Really clever, I must say”
In the evening the guys are doing their cool down stretches after more practice while you go around passing bottles to some of them when you notice Atsumu talking to Kageyama
“In the training camp I didn’t really pay attention to yer school, ya were good, but yer teammates weren’t; plus, I cared more about Chibi-chan, so I thought ya would be a difficult person here, but it turns out ye’re actually just a Goody Two shoes”
“Eh?!”
“Tsumu, what are you doing?” you call him, making him shiver a little
“Just talking to Tobio-kun here”
“Really? It didn't sound like a nice talk. Can you not be a cocky bastard for like a day?”
“I’m not cocky!”
“Yes, you are. Sorry Tobio-kun, he can get annoying” you take Atsumu by the wrist, walking away “you know that I don’t have a problem with you being cocky, you have the talents to be, but don’t ruin your reputation so fast”
“I’m sorry chibi-chan, but ya just said that ya like me being cocky”
“No, I don’t like it, but I get it, as long as you never treat me or the people that I care about bad, I can live with it”
“I would never, I love ya too much. Plus ye’re terrifying when ye’re angry”
“Thanks, were you holding back with the jump float served?”
“What are ya talking about chibi-chan? Like I’m the one to hold back” says with a knowing smirk, however he lowers and whispers to your ear “we need to surprise our future opponents, don’t we?”
“Look at you, using your brain on your own for once, well done”
“Rude. Let’s go to eat”
“Sure, let me do something first” you go to where Sakusa is “Sakusa-kun! Did you watch the match between Karasuno and Shiratorizawa?”
“Not yet”
“Good, then here, I watched it yesterday and took some notes, I thought you will like to have some information about them” you give him the notebook where your notes were
“Why did you do this?” He says surprised, taking them
“The notes? Well, you got me curious about the match. Plus both of us like to be careful about other teams, so why not help you?”
“I see…thank you” he smiles at you
“Of course, we’re gonna go now. I’m sure you will, but eat a good meal”
“I will” he pauses looking a little conflicted as you turn around with Atsumu “Yn-chan?”
“Yeah?” you turn around
“Can…can you give me a massage later? My shoulder still hurts” he looks to the other side, blush appearing in his cheeks
“Of course, you don’t mind me touching you, do you?”
“No, I trust you the most out of everyone here” he looks at you, blush deepening when he saw your smile
“Oi, Omi-kun! Dontcha dare to flirt with her, she’s dating!” Atsumu squints his eyes at the boy
“I know, the blonde dude from Nekoma, right?” he asks you, making you nod “that doesn’t mean I trust her any less with this”
“I’ll help you out, don’t worry Omi-kun. Let’s go Tsum” you push the fake blonde away so he doesn’t end up in a fight, going to the cafeteria
“Do ya trust him to be alone with him? Ya want me there with ya?” Atsumu asks, worry in his voice
“He is not going to do anything, Tsum, he’s very gentle”
“Alright…anyways, will ya give us the notes too?” Atsumu passes an arm through your shoulders
“Of course, I may be in Nekoma now, but half of my heart is still in Inarizaki”
“We miss ya too” he gives you a loving kiss at the temple. Unless they play against your cats, you’re going to help them as much as you can. It's the least that you can do to the first ones that love you and help you.
The week passes fast and before you notice, the last day of the training camp is here. Thanks to the coaches, who gave you a lot of freedom to say and do whatever you wanted, you became closer to the rest of the players due to all the feedback that you gave them; especially with Sakusa, ever since you gave him the massage he gained a whole lot more trust in you, becoming the closest one outside Atsumu.
Now the guys are playing a match where the players switch their normal positions, Atsumu being the libero, Hoshiumi the setter and Kageyama the wing spiker. Kageyama spikes one of Hoshiumi’s sets and scores past a double block attempt.
“Well done Tobio-kun”
“Thanks Yn-san” says bowing eagerly
“Yn-chan, how was my set?” Hoshiumi asks excitedly
“Pretty good, you’re a good setter too”
“Yay!” In the next rally Hoshiumi sends a set to Sakusa, however he hesitates before hitting it even though he marks a point.
“You doubted my set didn’t you?!” Hoshiumi screams at him
“I just wanted to be certain of it” says Sakusa monotone
“But Yn-chan said my sets are good, you don’t trust her?!”
“I do, but I just wanted to be sure”
While doing their cool-down stretches, you once again see Atsumu going to Kageyama, and considering how he can be, you decided to approach just to make sure he didn’t go too far with provocations.
“…Someone who can’t hit my sets just sucks. You should be a spiker, you seem tense playing as a setter”
“Maybe he’s like that because of what you told him, you idiot” you plop onto his back, barely making him flinch as Kageyama nods
“But I’m a setter”
“I know, I know” Atsumu stands up, making sure to grab you so you didn’t fall from his back
“Miya-san what does Goody Two shoes mean?”
“Exactly what it sounds, you’re a serious, honest and all-around good person”
“In a way I do agree with Tsumu, strangely” you say, making the blonde whine “You’re really good at adapting with your team, but are you sure that’s all they can do?”
A little later, after everyone had eaten a proper meal, the coaches called all of the players to say a goodbye speech.
“I want to congratulate all of you for being able to play in such a new environment. This camp was planned as a way to get all of you started on their youth activities and to help you figure things out and show you that there’s always room for improvement. In that same note I want to congratulate you Yn-chan, watching you help everyone here really set my mind of how good of a coach you can be, I’m sure all of the players appreciated your help”
Everyone says thank you to the coach before going to take their things out of the dorms. You go outside with your backpack, seeing Kageyama there tying his shoe.
“Tobio-kun, do you need help going to the station?”
“I don’t think so, is Kozume-san coming to walk with you?”
“No, Tsumu wanted to walk with me to say hi to my family, so I told Kenma to wait in his house” you clarify
“Ah I see”
“Bye Kageyama! Bye chibi-chan!” says Komori when he goes out, high fiving you. Sakusa follows behind, staring down at Kageyama
“Bye Komori-kun! Bye Omi!” you say
“See you soon, chibi-chan” Sakusa rubs your hair while passing by your side. Hoshiumi also goes out nodding at Kageyama and giving you a hi-5 before leaving.
“See ya at the Nationals, Tobio-kun” Atsumu with a little cocky grin, however his demeanor changes when he sees you with your eyebrow raised “Let’s go chibi-chan, it's late”
“See you Tobio-kun, say hi to Shoyo for me, please”
“I will” he says as you two leave the gym, walking towards the station
“Hey, isn’t that the hoodie that Suna gave ya?” Atsumu asks when you are walking
“Yeah, it’s really warm and it reminds me of all of you, I used to steal everyone’s jacket at one point”
“Oh yeah, I remember how flustered ya made Samu when ya wore his” Atsumu laughs
“You’re acting like you weren’t red as a tomato when you saw me on yours, I have proof “
“Well, it’s not my fault! It’s not the most normal thing to do here in Japan”
“I don’t even know if it’s normal in my country, it’s just a me trait. That’s my house”
“Then I’ll bring one of my hoodies when we come for the Nationals” he hugs you, putting his chin on your head “ya looked cool in the training camp”
“Huh?”
“Giving feedback to everyone so they could be better, or explaining stuff to us. Sometimes ya look more like a coach than the coaches did”
“Thanks, Tsum” you nuzzle your head in his chest, him caressing your head “go and say hi to my family, you’re going to miss the train if you don’t go soon”
You went into your house so Atsumu could talk with your mom and brother, you sitting next to him since he didn’t want to let go. When Atsumu leaves you go to Kenma’s house, entering with the spare key that you had to not interrupt anyone. You enter his room only to find him sitting in his computer talking to the headset, extremely concentrated while playing an online game. You go and hug his back, making him jump a little before looking behind him.
“Sorry” you mutter quietly
“I have to go, sorry” says into the mic, turning everything off immediately as he turns the chair around and pulls you into his lap “Hi”
“Hi” you chuckle, nuzzling into his neck “missed me much?”
“No…” says, yet his arms pull you tighter
“Oh really? Then you won't mind me going to Tetsu’s house to tell him about the camp. He seemed excited about it”
“No… I had to survive with Lev and Kuro alone”
“Poor you, you had to talk to your teammate and best friend” you earn a glare “I’m kidding, pretty boy. Did I miss something important?”
“Not really, we did the usual stuff. Everyone seemed a little off though, I guess they all got used to having you and your snarky comments around” he smiles playing with your hair
“It was weird for me too, everyone was…too good, it was strange not having someone like Lev”
“Why only Lev?” He squints his eyes
“Because Lev still has some problems playing? Don’t worry though, I missed more the kitty that claims to hate affection and people, yet always wants me around and let’s me hold him” you kiss his cheek, making him blush a little “I’m going to lay down for a while, you can keep play-”
“Let’s go” he takes your hand to take you to his bed. Once you lay down, he immediately lays in your chest, holding you tightly as he nuzzles into you “how was the camp?”
“Quite fun actually, there were only 20 people and I knew 6, so I didn’t feel as anxious as I normally would when interacting with them, and having Tsumu there made it a lot easier. The coaches were really nice too, they let me interrupt as much as I wanted, so I ended up talking and helping them a lot an-what?”
“Nothing” he says when you notice that he was looking at you with extremely soft eyes, making you blush and get shy. He moves up a little so you were face to face, taking your cheek and kissing you deeply while his other hand was under your t-shirt, touching your waist. Your hands went to his neck almost immediately, pulling him closer. Your foreheads connect when you stop, gaining your breath back “I’m glad that you had fun, but I really missed you a lot”
“I missed you too, your presence relaxes me” you give him a quick peck “You know, it baffles me sometimes that we met this year, our relationship isn’t even a year old, yet it feels so…natural”
“Do you believe in fate?” he lays down again, his face on your neck
“Huh?”
“Cause I do now, there’s no other logical explanation for us”
“And here I was all my life refusing to believe in soulmates, fate or destiny. But I’m not complaining, I got an amazing boyfriend…God, I’m tired, I want to sleep”
“Then sleep” he rolls to the side, putting your head on his chest while he passes his arms around, taking his PSP out
“…you’re quite the hypocrite, but fine, love you”
“Love you too love” he kiss the top of your head, smiling into your hair

Today’s Christmas eve, so Kenma, Kuroo and you were supposed to walk around Tokyo while eating street foods while your families hang out together. If there’s something that you learn in these past 2 years is that the holiday season here it’s celebrated quite differently; Christmas being the time for friends and couples to celebrate together, while New Year was for the family, visiting temples on January 1st.
“Are you sure you want me here? You two are a couple, and Christmas eve is supposed to be the most romantic date of the year…isn’t it awkward for you?” Kuroo asks awkwardly while you walk through a Christmas market
“This is for friends too, Kuro, relax”
“Yeah, but you know…you two are together…”
“Tetsu, relax, it’s just like any other day”
“Chibi-chan, Christmas eve here is like a holiday of yours…valentin? Something like that”
“Valentine’s day? Well, I never liked the idea of it, I don’t need a holiday to express my love towards my boyfriend or friends. Woow look at that! That’s so pretty!” you get distracted by a giant Christmas tree, making the two of them laugh
“Yeah, it’s pure capitalism. I’m already outside, so don’t make this more annoying for me than it already is Kuro” adds Kenma, pulling you slightly closer as he rubs your hand to warm it up
“Man, you two are the weirdest yet cutest couple out there” Kuroo laughs “should we sit and order something then? Chibi, did you know that eating KFC is like a tradition here?”
“Yeah, last year I ate some with the twins and Rin when they went to my house…it was a weird yet comforting”
“Well, it’s really different” Kuroo says while you sit in a park nearby, Kenma laying on your lap “I’ll go buy something, you two do your couple things or whatever”
“Sure” Kenma takes his phone out “couldn’t we have stayed at any of our houses?”
“Let me enjoy my first Christmas in Tokyo!”
“But it’s full of people and couples, it’s disgusting. Plus, it’s cold, you wouldn’t be shivering if we had stayed inside”
“Ken, we ARE a couple, I’m literally wearing your hoodie” you put your hands between his scarf and chest, making him lean his head on your arm
“But we are not the annoying kind, and you wear my hoodies everyday anyway. You’re lucky that I can’t say no to you, I wouldn’t have left my house otherwise”
“…Sorry for dragging you out, I really wanted to see Tokyo in this season, and tomorrow is one of the few days we don’t have practice”
“It’s fine, as long as it makes you happy I’ll do it…next year we’re not going out though, we’ll stay in playing something, we can even bake something together”
“Bake together? Or me baking while you pretend to help?” you tease him, earning a glare from the boy
“I’ll help y-”
“Planning next year's Christmas already? Are you two married or what?” says Kuroo arriving with the food, a teasing smile on his face
“Tetsu, kindly, shut the fuck up” you say making Kuroo gasp dramatically and Kenma chuckle “what did you buy?”
“Some onigiris and a Christmas cake. I bought some French fries too since you like them chibi-chan”
“Thank you”
You spend the rest of the afternoon talking together, mostly Kuroo and you, but Kenma still contributed here and there, whether by correcting some stories that Kuroo was telling you or saying his side of them.
“Kuro, can you go ahead of us?” says Kenma when you were near your houses
“What? Why?” he asks with a smirk
“Don’t start”
“Fine, fine I’ll leave the lovebirds alone” he turns around, walking faster than before. But Kuroo being Kuroo, he obviously had to yell something before leaving “don’t do the naughty yet kids, both are too young!”
“Pfft”
“Don’t laugh! You’ll make him believe he’s funny” Kenma whines, hiding his face on his scarf
“Just so we’re clear, I’m not really into exhibitionism” you earn a glare from him as he blushes even more “sorry, sorry. What was it?”
“Nothing now” he squints his eyes
“Ok then, I’m not going to beg for you to tell me” you joke while continue walking, but he stops you taking your hand
“You’re unbelievable…here” he shakes his head while taking something from his backpack, a Harry Potter scarf “Merry Christmas, it’s not a lot, but I know that you’re used to this” says while putting the scarf around your neck
“Thank you” you give him a peck before hugging him “I also have something for you at my house…but Tetsu is over there and it’s making me uncomfortable” you caress his cheek as he looks towards the tall boy, sighing before taking your hand and starting walking
“I told you to leave Kuro” he says when you continue walking towards your houses “stop acting like my relationship is yours too”
“And miss my two friends' cute moment? Never. It was like a movie! With the snowflakes and all! Plus, considering that I was the one who push you into asking her out, I feel like I deserve it”
“No, you don’t”
“You’re weird Tetsu…see you tomorrow” you pull Kenma towards your house. When you were on you room, you give him the hoodie that you bought him “Merry Christmas…thank you for let me get to know you”
“Thank you for getting to know me” he pulls your closer into a sweet kiss

Today’s January 4th, the start of the Spring Tournament. You are walking down the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium behind your team when you hear Kuroo talk to somebody
“Did you finally get to see the real Skytree? You country crows”
“Always with his unnecessary commentary” you say to Kenma and Kai, who just shake their heads “I’m going to find the twins and Rin, can you take care of things for a bit, Kai-san?”
“Of course, chibi-chan, be careful”
“Thanks. See you in a few, babe” you kiss Kenma’s cheek before walking away. On the way there you pass next to Kuroo and Daichi, who are talking about how nervous the other was.
“Yn-chan hi”
“Oh, hi Sugawara-san, Asahi-san”
“Kageyama told us you were in the training camp as an assistant coach”
“Yeah, it was quite fun actu-”
“CHIBI-CHAN!” someone lifts you up from the ground
“Fuck! Bokuto-san, why do you always have to scare me?”
“Because you’re cute!” he presses his chin on the top of your head after putting you down. The two third years of Karasuno just laugh and go away
“Is Kenma okay with this type of skinship, Yn-chan? You can always tell Bokuto-san to stop” says Akaashi arriving
“Yeah, he doesn’t mind. He knows that we’re just friends” you look at Kenma, who is staring at you with a little, barely noticeable, smile “How are you Akaashi?”
“I’m fine, it’s going to be a really good tournament this year”
“Chibi-chan hi!” another voice calls you
“Komori-kun hi! Sorry I can’t really move much. Hi Tobio-kun” you gave him a hi-5 and smile at Kageyama while Bokuto just press his cheek on your head even more
“Yn-san”
“Does Omi-kun have an imaginary pain again?”
“Nah, he is the corner over there, he hates crowds” he points at where Sakusa is, looking gloomy in a corner. He nods slightly at you when you wave to him
“I forgot that the four of you went to the youth training camp, how was it?” asks Akaashi
“It was really good, chibi-chan helped us a lot when trying som-”
“Chibi-chan! You went to the youth training camp?!” asks Bokuto loudly, making a bunch of people look at your direction
“Y-yes, I told you Bokuto-san”
“She asked you if you went before Bokuto-san, you literally answer her”
“Oh right! I forgot!” he laughs loudly, the conversation keeps going for a while, and even if you were engaging in it, you still could listen to the very loud whispers around ‘how many dudes she’s with? I saw her holding hands with a Nekoma one, now Bokuto’ ‘I remember her being with an Inarizaki dude too’ ‘She was invited to the youth training camp, how? She’s just a pretty manager’ ‘do you think she was invited so the boys there relieve stress? She’s hot’ ‘What else could be? I bet that she has slept with so many…’
“Chibi-chan, breath with me” Bokuto whispers, rubbing your arms
“H-huh?” you broke from your trance, noticing that you were shaking and your breathing was inconsistent
“You’re getting anxious Yn-chan, follow Bokuto-san breath” says Akaashi with a calm yet worried look, alongside Komori and Kageyama
“I-it’s okay…I’m used to it” you try to follow Bokuto breath
“You shouldn’t be used to that, you’re so nice. People can be so rude” Komori pats your head
“Yn?” Kenma says, arriving at your side with worry in his eyes. Bokuto let go of you so you can go to Kenma, taking his hand immediately
“I think it should be better if we go for now, the ceremony is about to begin anyway. Let’s go Bokuto-san” Akaashi smiles at you
“Sorry chibi-chan, it was my fault. I’ll make sure to beat everyone here that talks bad about my precious friend” says with confidence. The rest of them say bye too before Kenma drags you away to where Nekoma is, moving near the wall before pulling you into a hug. The rest of the team come around you in a protective manner, making a little shield
“People will look at you Ken” you hug him back as one of his hand move into the back of your head, caressing it
“I don’t care, are you ok?”
“I’m fine, I got so used to being around all of you that I just kinda forgot that this happens”
“It’s still really rude, chibi-chan. We’re not going to let anyone talk bad about our precious friend and manager” Yaku pats your arm, the rest of the team nodding
“Thanks”
“Yn-san…is this really normal? You deal with these comments daily?” asks Inuoka, the eyes of the first years are full of worry
“It’s not daily anymore, when I was in Inarizaki it was, a part of Tsumu’s fan club was really annoying. It’s okay though, it just caught me out of guard”
“Are you sure? You can always tell me if something is bothering you, you know?”
“I know, Ken, I’m alright” you finally separate from his body
‘We will now begin with the opening ceremonies’
“Stop worrying about me and get ready, you guys are in the Nationals, I will not allow you to lose so fast” you look at Kuroo, in hopes he understood that you just wanted to move on
“You heard our manager, let's go” says Kuroo. While walking towards the doors you feel Kenma's hand take your, squeezing it, before taking off his jacket and passing it through your shoulders
“Hey, I love you”
“I love you too”
After the opening ceremony you waited for a few minutes before the first match started, against a school from Kiyokawa. While the rest of the team warm up, you were sat on the floor reading the notes with Kuroo, who finished first.
“They don’t seem too challenging, honestly. For what I notice, they seem a little bit more powerful than you in offense, but the defense and blocks aren’t particularly strong”
“This here means that they have resistance, right?” he points at one of the words in English
“Yeah, the ace spiked at lot, and he didn’t seem that tired by the end of the match. His cross shots in particular seemed really powerful, that may cause you a bit of trouble in the beginning”
“We should be fine then”
“Yeah, it’s nothing that you haven’t played before. You probably will finish in two sets” you close the notebook
“Chibi-chan, you became cooler in the training camp”
“Eh? How?”
“I don’t know, you seem more confident”
“Suure. Go on, cap, you have a game to play”
As expected Nekoma doesn’t really have major problems in the game, already being 3 points ahead in the second set. The Ace of Kiyokawa attempts to do multiple spikes however your cats are able to receive each one of them, forcing him to hit a ball out of the bounds. For the last rally Kuroo is able to touch the ball, making Kenma set to Fukunaga, landing it in the back corner marking the win for Nekoma.
“YES!” screams Kuroo excitedly shaking a less excited Kenma while coming out of the court
“Didn’t I say you would win in two sets?” you pass around their bottles, Kenma using this opportunity to get away from Kuroo, going behind you
“Of course you called it” Yaku laughs
“Yn-san is a genius” says Inuoka as the team goes out of the gym, you pulling Kenma a little behind the rest
“You did really good” you gave him a peck “I don’t think a lot of people realize how good of a setter you are”
“I’m not that good, I’m not athletic enough”
“I mean, yeah, you could use more exercise, but you always underestimate yourself, you're more dangerous that you give yourself credit for”
“Thank you”
“Oh yeah, I’ll give you your reward when we get to the hotel” you wink at him, making him blush with an annoyed face
“You do this on purpose, don’t you?”
“Of course I do, it’s fun”
“You’re mean” says with a smile
“You love me though. Let’s go to eat, pretty boy” You go to where the rest of the team are, who where sitting in the floor a few meters away. You passed them their lunches as they finish stretching
“Chibi-chan, aren’t you going to watch Bokuto’s game?”
“It should be over, our games were at the same time”
“True, that’s one of the annoying things about Nationals”
“Yeah, I wish I could watch every game, but it would be so long and we only have a few days”
“CHIBI-CHAAN!” someone says plopping into your back
“Tsumu! What the fuck!”
“Ya did this to me every day in the training camp, this is payback!” says childishly
“Well, she’s not a giant pig. Get out of her” Osamu takes his twin by the collar of his t-shirt, sitting down beside you and kissing the top of your head
“I’m not a pig!”
“Yes, you are, it looked hilarious” adds Suna filming in his phone “hi chibi-chan, guys. You know, Tsumu didn’t shut up about how cool you were in the training camp”
“I love ya chibi, but it was getting annoying” Osamu move to lay his head on your shoulder. By now the 3 of them had sat down beside you, Atsumu in you other side and Suna just plop his head in your lap looking at his phone. Despite being used to this kind of affection by them, you can’t help to tense a little remembering the comments
“But she was awesome! Ya should have seen her! Chibi, ya grew up so much! Now ya talk to people without problems! I’m so proud!” Atsumu lays his head on your other shoulder
“I cannot eat in peace in this place” you take the bento that Kenma was passing you, he and the rest of the team were looking at the scene with a smile on their faces. You put the bento box on Suna's face, receiving an annoyed sound “what? you put yourself there, deal with it”
“Oh shit! sorry dude, I forgot that you two were together. Let me move” says Suna looking at your boyfriend, moving to sit up
“It’s okay, I know that this is how your friendship works”
“You sure? I understand if you don’t like it”
“You’re not jealous Kenma-san?” asks Lev
“I trust Yn, and I know that none of them will try to do something, why would I be jealous?” Suna it's surprised at that comment, however it makes him relax and lay down again.
“I knew from the beginning that ya would be a good boyfriend for our Chibi” Osamu does a fist bump with Kenma “anyways, we watched ya play, ya guys were good”
“Thanks, it was easier than expected, you guys start tomorrow right?”
“Yes, we came here for the ceremony…”
You spend a good part of the afternoon talking to each other, the twins and Suna not leaving your side until you decided to leave. On your way out you went to the bathroom, telling the guys to wait outside so everything was faster. Once you arrived to where the bright red uniforms are, you noticed Karasuno with them, talking together.
“YN-SAN!! Is it true that you went to the youth training camp?!” asks you Hinata when he sees you, pulling you to where he, Inuoka, Lev and Kenma were talking
“Ehh…yeah, I did went the-”
“THAT’S SO COOL!” he screams with his eyes shining, making you jump from the sudden scream “how was it? What did you do? How was everyone there? Did you help them train? Can you help me too someday? But you’re from other school, that means you will help an enemy, but if you help them that me-”
“Shoyo! too fast” you say making the boy apologize, you hear the guys from your team laugh “it was fun; I did help coaching them; everyone was really good; I did, I gave them feedback when they tried stuff; if I can help you I will, but I don’t know when that will be”
“You’re so cool Yn-san! Kenma, you got so lucky!”
“I know” he takes your hand
“We should go, it’s getting late. All of you need to rest. Guys! We’re going!”
“Well, try to survive tomorrow too” says Kuroo once everyone got together, ready to leave
“Same for you” Daichi says back. However, as soon as both of them turn around their expressions got really serious.
“Relax, Tetsu. It will be fine”
“I hope so”
Once you arrive to the hotel, you tell the boys to go shower while I do the same. Once done, you went down to the lobby with the third years, who started to talk about the next tournament while you were on your phone next to Kai looking at Twitter.
“The first Nationals…I would have love going far away, I want to use a bullet train” Yaku says
“Where will be next year? If it’s far away let’s go to cheer them up”
“You think we will go?”
“The faith that you have in us is so assuring Kai-san, thank you” you say with a sarcastic tone
“Exactly Chibi, trust in our juniors a little” Kuroo adds
“There’s another one here” Kai whispers when Kenma goes down the stairs, ready to buy something from the vending machine. There were two other dudes in front of it talking, so Kenma looks at you, asking for help silently
“I got you, you big baby” you say standing up and going to him, taking his coin purse
“Thanks, buy yourself something”
“I was going to” you make him roll his eyes playfully “Hi, can I use the machine…?”
“Oh yeah, so…rry” the dude that turns around stutters, so you give him a small nod and smile as a thanks while taking the money out “l-let me buy it for you!”
“Ehh, you don’t have to, I’m buying two things…” you say confused
“I got you” he goes to the vending while putting the money in, so you shrug your shoulders before pressing the buttons, who were you to deny free drinks? “Ehh…c-can I get your number?”
“I’m dating, and I don’t give my number just like that, sorry…Thanks for the drinks, though” you bow down slightly before going to the stairs where Kenma was
“Thanks” says Kenma when you handed him his drink, with a small smile. You take his hand and move him to where the rest are
“Knowing Kenma, if he didn’t like volleyball, he would have quit already, right?” says Kai
“KENMA! I TOLD YOU NOT TO PLAY BEFORE SLEEP!”
“Jesus, relax dude, don’t scream” you sit in the arm rest while taking your phone out, Kenma sitting in the chair
“YOU TOO CHIBI-CHAN!”
“If I want to leave it, I will, although I will feel bad” Kenma answers Kai question
“What?” says Kuroo surprised
“I can be considerate towards you too, you know. But just a little, I wouldn’t train for so many hours just for consideration, and I wouldn’t play if I didn’t like volleyball. I play just because, I don’t have a reason to do it, but neither to leave it. It’s normal” Kenma squeezes your hand
“That’s too complicated, dude”
“I don’t like sweating or the sensation of not breathing…but I don’t mind leveling up”
“Of course you would say that” you lean a little into him “Wait, this is awesome, I found the best tweet ever”
“What is it chibi-chan?”
“A foreigner found the tournament online, she doesn’t really know what is happening but she can’t help to watch it…not only she’s amazed by how hot everyone is here, but she created a thread of the ones she likes the most” you explain
“Okay, I’m intrigued now”
“Let me read what she put ‘Thank god this tournament has an online magazine, cause dude, everyone here is beautiful. Not only the players, but the coaches? Managers? What do this people eat? My personal favorites though are what I like to call The Pretty Setter Squad, no joke, the most beautiful man I have ever seen’ and she added photos of Akaashi, Tobio-kun, Suga-san, Tsumu, and the one and only, Kenma” you show them the photos
“Why did you tell them?” Kenma grunts hiding his head on your shoulder
“Because you don’t believe me when I say you’re pretty”
“Dude, it’s not fair. How come you steal every foreigners heart? You’re dating a foreigner girl, this tweet right here too and the likes…dude you’re like the third one with most likes. Not fair” Yaku says shocked
“Dude, you’re a heart-throb. The boy who hates attention is receiving the most attention out of us. I will never forget this” Kuroo laughs at his friend
“I have to say though, it’s really impressive” Kai passes you your phone back
“Whatever, let’s go” Kenma pulls you towards the dorms, making the third years laugh harder. Once in the room, he sits near your futon and glares at you before turning on his PSP “I can’t believe you said that”
“Did you really expect me to not say anything” you sit in between his legs, hugging him tightly “hey…are you really okay with the amount of skinship the guys do? I can always tell them to knock it down a little”
“It’s okay, really, I know that they love you like a sister. I’m not going to make you stop loving your friends”
“Thank you, babe, it means a lot” you snuggle a little more. You stay like this for a few minutes, comfortable hugging each other while he plays
“Can I ask you something? I want your opinion” he asks after a while
“Of course, you always can”
“I…I been thinking, on our third year I want to start streaming more seriously, uploading more YouTube videos…but I don’t know”
“Do it then, I don’t see why not. You’re good at playing, and there’s something about seeing you play that is so mesmerizing. There’s a reason why I love seeing you play”
“But you’re my girlfriend, you’re bias towards me” you can feel his smile on the crock of your neck
“Well, yes, a little. But seriously, you should do it. Who knows, maybe you end up being a famous streamer” you chuckle “I don’t know how I could help you, but I’ll be there for you. Just don’t ignore volleyball or me to do this”
“Thank you. You know that I’m here for you too, right?”
“I know, love”
“And I would never ignore you, don’t worry” he gives a quick kiss to your neck before continuing playing

The train station was jam-packed.
Well, no duh. The lines ferried more than two million people throughout the city each day. The trains ran from early in the morning until late at night. The whole transit system probably employed a quarter of the country. Tourists, businessmen, students, parents on a shopping trip — you could find anyone, be anyone, at the train station.
And right now, Kageyama Tobio was a runaway.
It was the perfect place to blend in. Not that Tobio needed to, really, because it wasn’t like there were people looking for him. But the crowd comforted him like a weighted blanket; it exerted just enough pressure to settle Tobio’s nerves as he watched the hands of the clock on the far wall tick forward.
Eight more minutes. He just had to wait eight more minutes.
Bzzt bzzt. Through the fabric of his windbreaker, Tobio’s phone lit up in his pocket. His teammates were still furious with him, his parents wouldn’t have yet realized he was gone. That could only mean one thing: Miwa had finally found his note.
With a resigned exhale, Tobio answered the call.
“TOBIO!”
He winced, both from the sudden volume and the rage in his sister’s voice. “Hello, Nee-san.”
“Where are you right now?” Miwa demanded. “Don’t tell me you’ve already left the city?”
“I’m on the train.” A half-lie. He had only gotten as far as buying the ticket, but if Miwa knew he hadn’t left yet, she’d drive over and try to drag him back home. “I’m fine, Nee-san. I made sure to pack well. And I have every step of the trip planned out.”
“I’m not worried about how it’s going to go,” Miwa said tartly. “I’m worried about the fact that you left in the first place! You can’t take off like that, Tobio. What would Mother and Father say? How could you not tell them?”
They wouldn’t have cared. I didn’t tell them because they wouldn’t have cared that this is something I have to do, and they would have banned me from going anyway.
Tobio didn’t say that, though. Instead, he said, “I’ll be back before they notice anything. I didn’t want them to worry unnecessarily.”
“And it’s all right to make me worry?”
“No. That’s why I left you the note.”
“Some note,” Miwa grumbled. “Really, Tobio, what are they teaching you at school? Surely you could have done better than ‘I’m sorry, but I have to go. I love you’. That barely told me anything! I thought — ”
Miwa broke off. She took a deep, shuddering breath that crackled through the speaker.
“I was so scared I had lost you, too,” she continued. “If this is something you have to do, then fine. But at least let me know you’re safe, won’t you?”
A worm of guilt squirmed its way into Tobio’s heart. He couldn’t imagine losing Miwa so soon after — well. Sometimes he took it for granted, the extent of which she understood him. Especially since, now, she was pretty much the only one who did.
