It’s July now, and Pride Month ended, anyways… I’ve got a question for the Arranged Marriage! AU:

It caught my attention that you decided to introduce Leo so early on in the Arranged Marriage! Nicoby AU and make him already have a sort of established thing with Nat too.

Are they supposed to be a direct contrast to Nico and Toby? Since those two are gonna be the slowest slowburn of all time and probably be very messy, because on the other hand Nat and Leo already met and are sort of dating now.

Eh, kinda. Nat and Leo are basically what would happen if they had a more natural meeting, instead of being forced together by fate.

Nat and Leo meet, they get together and be cute, they deal with their issues head on and support each other.

Whereas Toby and Nico are very much gonna be like this scene in Bridgerton:

(Very grumpy, very intense, very much a "they hate each other, but we know they're bound to be together" kinda thing).

Basically, it wasn't intentional, but kinda.

Also, some shit under the cut.

Okay, so Nat is very much going to he somewhat messy in this as well. She used to be a bit of a slag, as Tobias implied in the most recent chapter. She dates casually, she'll make out with anyone. And she desperately wants to be seen as more than just a warm body.

Almost acting as a foil to Nico, who pushes everyone away, and doesn't want to get close. However, he too desires that same intimacy.

Meanwhile, Toby is intense and a bit bonkers, and he goes too far often, and doesn't know when enough is enough.

Directly opposing Leo, who doesn't want to be an asshole, he just wants to make people smile.

So, once again... yeah, basically they're gonna be foils/comparisons to each other.

Toby, with a smirk: You wouldn't last three days on your own.

Nico: Oh, and I suppose you could teach me?

[Toby looks over one shoulder at Nico, smirking.]

Toby: *scoffs* Yeah.

[Toby walks off.]

Hades,offscreen: Nico!

[Nico glances over one shoulder.]

Nico: Coming!

[Nico races after Toby and steps into his path.]

Nico: All right. Impress me.

[Nico strides past Toby.]

Nico: We start at dawn.

Toby: *chuckles* I look forward to it.

Proxy of Hades au.

Basically, instead of working for Slender, Toby (and the other pastas we all know and love) works for Hades.

Adding on: Toby is assigned to be Nico's guard/attendant (bc that's what edgy teenagers like, right? A friend?).

Then they become friends.

And then... more than friends.

Anyway... uh, yeah. Enter this scene with Jeff, Toby and Hades (along with various other ghosts):

Toby (21): Nico, I-!

Carson (21): my five year old can handle spice better than you.

Aight! So, my thoughts for the Proxy of Hades au.

(Under the cut for mentions of murder and stuff)

Nico basically started living in the Underworld Post Bianca's death bc Hades didn't want to lose his only surviving mortal child.

And so, he grows up in the Underworld, with the ghosts and other cthonic entities as his babysitters.

But... that kinda fucks him up.

He... loses a lot of social skills.

Also he becomes kinda spoilt. Ngl.

Anyway-!

When both Toby and Nico are around 13 (they're about the same age in this au), Lyra passes away.

Toby's story kinda continues in the same way - therapy, mental illness, patricide.

Only.

Instead of Slender finding him, Hades does first.

He was in Denver on some very official godly business (Persephone wanted to meet him in water world), when suddenly there was this fire.

And he finds this kinda fucked up kid.

So, he basically takes Toby and helps him survive.

(He said "is this anyone's kid?" And didn't wait for an answer)

Toby starts working for Hades.

Small jobs in the Underworld, like helping tend to Persephone's garden during the summer, feeding Cerberus, stuff like that.

Then - about four or so years later - Hades realises...

His son needs a friend.

And oh, wouldn't you know? There's literally a perfect buddy right in the castle!

So, Hades says that Toby is meant to be Nico's personal guard.

At first they kinda don't get along. Nico finds Toby rather brash/uncouth. Toby thinks Nico's uptight.

Then, after a run in with a couple hell hounds where Toby somehow takes... all of them...

Nico is just "am I attracted to this?"

Then, Nico starts patching Toby up.

And the pair of them learn to socialise together.

Also, lots of funny moments when the two are first starting out dating.

Such as:

being found in a closet by another proxy

Toby sneaking out of Nico's room at three in the morning

Hades seeing Nico wear a sweatshirt that he was sure belonged to Toby

Toby falling out of Nico's window (and into Cerberus' water bowl) in order to avoid Persephone seeing them fooling around.

Basically, the au is a fancy prince and his royal guard falling in love.

Nico is a fancy vampire prince, and Toby is the rough young werewolf that likes showing him how wild life can be.

ISTG this son is so Nicoby-core. More specifically, from Toby's POV

Like, I need an angst fic or animatic inspired by it.

Especially the lines "I ain’t proud of all the punches that I’ve thrown//In the name of someone I no longer know//For the shame of being young, drunk, and alone"

Toby: I’m not an idiot. I know guys like you don’t wind up with guys like me. And I don’t want you promisin’ nothin’ you gotta take back later. But... standing here tonight... lookin’ at you... I’m scared tomorrrow’s gonna come and change everything.

Toby: If there was a way I could grab hold of something to make time stop... Just so I could keep looking at you.

Nico: You snuck up on me, Toby... I never even saw it coming.

Toby: For sure?

Nico: For sure.

Nico: Minus that hour I had to calm down Toby after he forgot his antipsychotics.

Toby: I thought I was Zeus! ...I was Zeus.

[Toby looks up and is immediately enamored by Nico.]

Toby (looking at the page he's just hung up on a tree): I wonder if people will catch the Kandinsky inspiration in my work...

[Nico walks past]

Toby: Hmmmm- (notices Nico go by)-mmm, 'ello.

Toby: I'll be on that boy like Doby on a centerfold spread.

[Ominous music starts playing as Doby appears in front of them out of thin air, eyes glowing and an aura like Slenderman]

Doby (creepily sweet tone): Hello, boys.

[Everyone freaks out.]

Toby, internally: AND TOBY'S ON THE TOP TURNBUCKLE, THIS COULD BE ALL OVER FOR TOBY! [Professional Wrestling mat noise] HE'S GOT HIM IN A PIN... [My Time Is Now starts playing] BUT WAIT, WHO'S THAT ON THE RAMP? IT'S THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION JOHN CENA!

Toby: *humming the theme out loud*
