Episode 12: The One where Everyone Goes to Evil Summer School and Has a Bad Time

And we’re off to a bad start bc we’re at Evil Summer School and WC is monologuing like the world’s shittiest villain

His flunkies take everyone’s swords and wwx whispers “lan zhan” after watching lwj hand over his sword (LIKE, THE ONE THING HE HAS LEFT OF HIS HOME *SOBS*)

Lwj ignores him tho

And then keeps ignoring him

Be easy on him, folks, he’s overcoming some trauma

We get more useless wc monologuing

But we’ll ignore him and focus instead on how wwx keeps throwing worried little glances at lwj

(hey remember how last episode i told you all about lwj’s capture and subsequent injury even tho it wasn’t wangxian moment?? IT PAYS OFF IN THIS EPISODE WITH MULTIPLE WANGXIAN MOMENTS)

(also, just fyi at this point wwx still doesn’t know what all went down at the cloud recesses or that lwj is injured; i mean yeah, wc bragged to him about it but what, we’re gonna take him at his word? Heck no)

Wc assigns the class homework - Memorizing Wen Clan Rules

So we see wwx being all studious

He and jc are dragging the wen clan for their hypocrisy and then wwx has an Epiphany

Wwx: hey, the Wen clan is so petty, they wouldn’t have just settled for LWJ attending Evil Summer School; they would’ve taken way more hostages I mean disciples!! SOMETHING BAD MUST’VE HAPPENED

And he leaps up with every intention of tracking down LWJ but some wen flunkies are guarding the door so that ends up being a no-go

But wwx is not deterred! No sir, he is coming up with a plan to finally get LWJ’s attention 

We’re back in class at Evil Summer School and wc is all i’m gonna pick ppl to recite the rules bc i’m a douchebag

And ofc he picks lwj, wwx, and jzx

Lwj: Can’t do it. Not today.

Jzx: Yeah, no, that’s Beneath me

Wwx: oh oh pick me!! I can do it!! *raises hand excitedly*

Omg wwx he already picked you, you don’t have to do that

Wc: okay, but if you get it wrong I will Punish you bc i’m an asshole that way

Cue wwx’s Classic Look of Disgust (guys, guys, i just love this expression on his face SO MUCH, i couldn’t even tell you why)

But that look quickly morphs into his Signature Mischievous Grin 

Which he aims at lwj, so ofc it looks SUPER FLIRTY ahhhhh

Lwj continues to ignore him

AGAIN I ASK, how the HELL does he keep doing that??! If i had wwx smile like that at me, he’d have my FULL UNDIVIDED ATTENTION FOREVER

Okay, here’s where a good moment becomes a GREAT moment

Wwx goes up all cocky and starts THEATRICALLY doing STRETCHES even tho all he’s doing is RECITING LINES, OMG, WWX

Wc: GET ON WITH IT

Wwx: right, right, i got this. Okay, listen carefully~!

Wwx: *STARTS RECITING LAN CLAN RULES*

THAT’S MY BOY!!! LOOK AT MY BOY GO! HOLY SHIT, THE AUDACITY. WHAT A BI-CON, I LOVE IT!!

Now lwj FINALLY looks at him!!

And it only took 14min and wwx reciting his clan’s rules to FINALLY GET A REACTION

Wc: HOW DARE YOU RECITE LAN CLAN RULES IN QISHAN

Wwx: oh dear, oh gosh, how foolish of me! I am SO sorry i got them all mixed up!!

And then he literally pats himself on the back with a pleased little smirk

And that’s how jzx, lwj, and wwx end up in Evil Detention carrying manure to the vegetable fields

Lwj is just pouring the manure out of the buckets

Wwx: lan zhan, you want me to find you a scooper?

Lwj: *ignores him*

Jzx: *unwillingly bears witness to this and rolls his eyes*

(don’t even, jzx, you het disaster)

Wwx: hey lan zhan, how come your clan has a silencing spell but not a spell that blocks out gross smells?

Lwj: *picks up empty buckets and leaves, CONTINUING TO IGNORE WWX FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON*

Here wwx just sloppily dumps out his buckets and chases after him

As they walk over to wherever they need to go to refill their buckets, wwx starts asking lwj Plot Questions and generally worrying about him

Which could’ve become a sweet moment

Except that wc shows up to ruin the moment with his, you know, general existence

So obviously wwx has to go and insult wc to his face, right? HE WAS TRYING TO HAVE QUALITY TIME WITH HIS SOULMATE, GODDAMNIT

Wc tries to whip wwx but wwx catches it like a BADASS and is all “don’t try me”

But then wc gets his flunkies to tie up wwx!! (i’m telling you guys, this clan really seems to have a thing for tying/chaining people up)

Lwj sees that his soulmate is defenseless and is like, can’t have that happening and goes to defend him!!

Ugghhh but that ASSHOLE WEN CHAO GOES AND HITS LWJ ON HIS INJURED LEG WHICH SENDS LWJ TUMBLING INTO THE GROUND

Wwx: HEY, leave him alone! I was the one insulting you!!

DO YOU SEE THAT GUYS?? THEY ALWAYS DEFEND EACH OTHER!!

And actually this starts up a general pattern for them: lwj always defends wwx physically and wwx always defends lwj verbally

IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL. THEY COVER EACH OTHER’S WEAK SPOTS WITHOUT EVEN REALIZING IT!! 

(lwj isn’t all that good with words as you know, and wwx has this talent of making everyone around him want to punch him in the face, his beautiful beautiful face)

Wc goes to whip wwx again, but LWJ gets up on his feet in an instant (even with the leg wound!!) and catches the whip ONE-HANDED AND YANKS IT OUT OF WC’S GRASP

LIKE, DON’T FUCKING TOUCH MY SOULMATE YOU SLIMY BASTARD

Obvs he didn’t say that, but you can see it in his eyes that that’s exactly what he was thinking, word-for-word. Trust me on this.

The wen flunkies release wwx who drops to the ground and lwj immediately grabs him by the arm

He doesn’t try to lift him up and he’s not actually holding him up

So why the arm-grabbing?

I’LL TELL YOU WHY

BC HE WANTS TO BE NEAR WWX, THAT’S WHY

And let me remind you that this is the same lwj who’s all “i don’t touch people” back in episode 5: the One with Angry bb!LWJ

Yeah, that rule doesn’t apply to wwx anymore BC SOULMATES

Although in all fairness, who wouldn’t grab onto wwx given half a chance?

Okay now wc monologues some more 

Wwx: wc, stop babbling 

(omg wwx, stop baiting him)

Wc: TAKE HIM TO THE DUNGEON

Lwj: *BOLTS UPRIGHT ON HIS INJURED LEG AND BLOCKS THEIR WAY*

Srsly, injured leg!! And it doesn’t even slow him down when it comes to protecting wwx!! And he stretches out his arm so his pretty white sleeves mostly cover wwx from view

Wc: don’t worry, the dungeon’s big enough for two (wc you slimy bastard, you’re ruining everyone’s sex dungeon fantasies)

Wwx: *pushes away lwj’s arm* nah, just take me. The dungeon’s bound to be cooler than being out on these sunny fields anyway lol

And now we have this terrible moment where we see wwx be well and truly terrified for the first time in the show

He’s thrown into the dungeon WHILE CHAINED UP and there’s this HUGE MUTANT DOG MONSTER

Poor wwx visibly pales and breaks out into a cold sweat while wen chao mocks him (I HATE HIM SO MUCH)

Okay, i’d like to take a moment here to fully acknowledge that this dog monster thing is, like, really horrible effects-wise. We all know this. But we’re gonna pretend for sake of the Emotional Trauma it causes our darling wwx that it’s actually a big scary thing, okay?

Anyway

WEN NING TO THE RESCUE - knocks out the dog with strategically placed needles and provides wwx Medicine Pouch and Medicine Bottle 

he’s like, i stole medicine for you bc we’re bffs and i’d die for you (which he does eventually lololol I’M SORRY THAT WAS AWFUL)

I’m sure you’re all hey trensu, this isn’t a wangxian moment you said this was a wangxian guide, what the heck

BUT IT IS A WANGXIAN MOMENT and also it sets us up for ANOTHER wangxian moment later on in the show!

It’s a wangxian moment now bc wen ning provides the info wwx has been trying to get this whole time, aka what the heck is up with lwj and the cloud recesses?

Wwx looks utterly DEVASTATED when wn tells him lwj’s home was burned

And when he tells wwx about the wens breaking lwj’s leg?

FUCKING FURIOUS

HE’S SO ANGRY THAT THEY HURT HIS LAN ZHAN

HE PUNCHES THE STONE FLOOR OF HIS CELL WITH AN ALREADY BLOODIED UP HAND

THAT’S HOW ANGRY HE IS

See? Totally a wangxian moment

Oh, and then we see him take like, only one (1) medicine piece from Medicine Bottle and then slips the it and the Medicine Pouch into his robes

Wwx: i’ll save this for lan zhan

I’LL SAVE THIS FOR LAN ZHAN, HE SAYS

HE’S INJURED AND CHAINED UP AND HE’S SAVING THE MAJORITY OF THE MEDICINE FOR LAN ZHAN

BC HE LOVES HIM

AHHHHHH

Okay now we’re back in class (and wtf, wwx has to attend class even after all that??)

Wwx is still looking all wrung-out and bloodied

We see lwj look at wwx all concerned!

Plot stuff happens

Now we get set up for our last wangxian moment of the episode!!

Wen Flunkie: hey boss, there’s this monster in this mountain that probably someone should get rid off

Wc: oh cool, good thing i’ve got all these hostages i mean cannon fodder I MEAN visiting disciples with me. Let’s do it!

TIME FOR A FIELD TRIP (OF EVIL)!!!

Wen chao is on a horse with his girlfriend while everyone else is walking bc wc is the WORST PERSON

Then oh no, lwj is visibly limping as they go on!!

And wwx looks over and sees lwj limping

~THEIR SONG~ STARTS GENTLY PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND AHH AHHHHH

IDK IF YOU GUYS NOTICED YET BUT THAT’S OUR CUE THAT SOME GOOD WANGXIANTICS IS COMING UP

Wwx does not hesitate even a minute to go help him!! BC THAT’S WHAT SOULMATES DO

But JC ofc holds him back (what the heck jc), and he’s all leave him alone, you’ve helped him enough already

And wwx is like, HE JUST LOST HIS HOME, JC!! AND HIS LEG IS BROKEN. WHAT IF HE LOSES HIS LEG??

JC: it’s not like he’ll let you close enough to carry him anyway!!

Wwx: well that’s his choice BUT I STILL GOTTA OFFER BC I LOVE HIM, HE NEEDS TO KNOW IT’S AN OPTION!!

JC: we can’t stick our noses in his business!

Wwx: well SOMEBODY has to help him!!

And he flounces off to go to lwj

Wwx: lan zhan, how’s your leg?

Lwj: it’s fine

He says, y’know, like a liar.

Wwx: hey, we’re friends, you can be honest with me!! Are you sure your leg is okay??

Lwj: it’s fine

GOD DAMN IT LWJ, HE’S TRYING TO HELP YOU

Wwx: don’t pretend it’s fine all the time!! I can carry you~! 

OMG HE SAYS THIS WITH THE SWEETEST, MOST SINCERE SMILE, GUYS

tbh this was a minimal lin mo exposure ep but its ok, im still grateful that he got a few random closeups (which is more than i can say for some of the others) and now that hes safely in top 20 i honestly think my work here is done LOL. there’s not much more lin mo fans can do for him. theyve gotten him onto all the stages and i dont think any amount of work will get him into top 9... and ive said before i dont even really want him in top 9 bc id rather he stay with mr tyger and help them stay relevant bc theyll need his help to do so, especially since jia yi will probably make top 9. 

(from here is where i go into a rant about season 1 vs season 2.... LOL)

lets be honest, ranking 16 is too low for lin mo to make it lol....... last season the only kid who made top 9 who wasnt already in top 9 by ep 10 was yanjun... and yanjun had been on a steep upward trend leading up to the last ep (lin mo went from 17 to 16... theres minimal momentum there lol) and then bi wenjun going from 12 to 10 was the other surprise. xikan going from 18 to 13 was impressive, but he still wasnt one of the contenders for the 9th spot. i think at the end it was bu fan, qian zhenghao, bi wenjun and you zhangjing right? out of those 4, the lowest ranked in ep 10 was bi wenjun at 12..... so going from 16 up to 9 would be really really unlikely, unless lin mo somehow makes an even greater impression on the audience during the mentor collab stage than yanjun did last year.... which i think will be impossible bc literally the entire audience fell in love with yanjun during the “zero” performance in last season’s ep 11 lol it was crazyyyy.... but anyway i think ive reminisced about last season enough this rant.... can you tell i really miss it? honestly ive tried to stay as positive as i could throughout watching qcyn and i gave iqiyi the benefit of the doubt from the beginning that “oh maybe it just doesnt seem as great as the first season bc we havent gotten to know the kids yet, the show’s just started, we’ll learn to love it later” ---- but we’re on ep 10 now and i just.......... i still dont think i got to know the kids as well as i did last season and its not their fault, theyre not any less lovable kids (some of them i really like!!! more than some of the kids from last season!) but this season’s editing is really just disappointing. i really miss last season and it was honestly so much more enjoyable to watch..... i thought about this the other day, if lin mo had been eliminated during the last round, would i still be watching this show? and i thought about it and i honestly think i would... because i really like some of the other kids like mingming, junjie, xixi, jia yi, guan yue, chen sijian, etc. but i really dont think id be as eager to stay up to date with it. ive fallen behind on yaa and dont even look forward to watching fanafan anymore bc lin mo hasnt been on any of those (no, i dont count the yaa ep he literally only got 1 second of screentime in) these side shows are fun, but not as fun as fanafan from last season. they feature the same kids over and over again (literally yuehua trio was the ONLY kids on fanafan 2 weeks ago and then they were 1/3 of the ep last week too??? and hmm how come there are kids who have been on yaa multiple times yet there are also kids who have never been on it at all???? that’s just so unfair.....) without fanafan from last season, would you zhangjing have made it into top 9?? fanafan was the medium thru which he really showed us how hilarious and fun and lovable and sweet and sassy he was (whereas on the actual show he showed us his true, undeniable talent) and im just here wondering, if qcyn’s fanafan had featured ye ziming half as much as they had featured you zhangjing or his partner in crime yanjun (who both ended up making top 9), would he have at least made top 35? or how about chen sijian and wu zelin? or feng junjie?? or su yuhang?? where would they be now? why hasnt lin mo been on fanafan at all??? if given the chance, would people actually be appreciating zhan yu’s hilariously weird and crazy personality that we NEVER got to see?? sigh..........

Request: Can I have an imagine where the reader and lin have been married since 1997 (they have no kids) and they celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary! 

SO just an fyi, i changed the anniversary to their 15th. In 1997, Lin wouldve been 17, and I didn’t want the characters to be really young when they got married. So they were about 22 when they got married :)

You stood in front of the mirror, fretting about tonight, July 13.

July 13 was a special day. It was the day you first met Lin, at a campus tour for Wesleyan University, 20 years ago in 1997. It was also, coincidentally, the date of the first Hamilton preview. And, the most important event on this date, your wedding anniversary.

Needless to say, everything about tonight had to be perfect. Starting with your outfit.

You wore a dark blue dress, that fit tight in all the right places. Lin was so going to love it, but he’d probably love taking it off you more when he found out what you had underneath for him.

Lin knocked on the door. A few days prior to today, Lin planned to stay at a friend’s house for the day, so that you two could act like this was a date, and he’d have the opportunity to knock on the door. You had to admit, hearing the knock gave you butterflies. It made you think about your first date with him, in your sophomore year of college.

Despite having met Lin at Wesleyan, that wasn’t the college you’d decided to go to. You both kept in touch during your senior year, always hanging out when you had time. You both knew that you liked each other, but because your careers were going in two different places, you both decided that staying friends would’ve been much easier and less stressful. But that plan hadn’t lasted long. Since your colleges weren’t too far from each other, you and Lin had spent even more time together, sometimes even going to each other’s classes whenever one was too bored waiting for the other’s class to finish. Your friend groups, which eventually merged due to all the time spent together, constantly told you two of the passion you’d had when around each other. You always denied it, and you and Lin continued the friendship.

Until one fateful night, at a frat party at Wesleyan. You were sorta dating a guy during that time, and invited him to the party. A very sensual song came on, so naturally, you had decided to dance with your date. You’d both kissed during the dance and Lin saw it all. After walking you back to the dorm, Lin admitted he couldn’t stand to see you with another guy, and asked if you’d be willing to give the two of you a chance; of course you said yes.

Your first official date had been sometime in the fall of your sophomore year. You were in a red dress, all dolled up and ready. You weren’t nervous, because this was Lin. Why in the world would you be nervous?

But when you heard that knock on your dorm room door, your stomach dropped. The thought of eating that night made you sick. This was Lin. You kept telling yourself. But no, it wasn’t Lin. It was your date. You had to impress him, right?

All bad thoughts you’d had that day came back, which was absurd. You’d been married 15 years. Why in the hell would you be worried?

Because you love him. A beautifully reasonable voice in your head said. You agreed with the voice, and swallowed your worries. This was your husband, your beautiful, talented and amazing husband.

Finally getting the courage to go on this date, you smoothed down the non-existent wrinkles in the dress you’d spent a good hour ironing and walked to the door. The moment you opened the door, you were greeted with the beautiful sight of Lin-Manuel Miranda. He literally took your breath away.

“Woah,” Lin whispered, obviously as starstruck with you as you were with him.

“You look amazing,” You both said at the same time.

“Thanks, I try.” You both said at the same time again. You giggled and Lin rolled his eyes. 15 years of marriage made you both think the same way.

“So where are we going?” You asked, linking your arm with Lin’s.

“It’s a surprise.” He said.

You rolled your eyes. Lin loved surprises. As long as they weren’t for him.

Lin led you down to his car and opened the passenger door for you. You stepped in, making sure your dress was tucked under you. You didn’t want Lin to get a peak of his surprise.

The drive to wherever the hell you guys were going was a pretty long, so you and Lin played a car game on the way. I Spy, was always a favorite of yours, so that was what you played.

“I spy with my little eyes something green.” Lin started.

“The traffic light?”

“Mm-mm.”

“Uh… That tree?”

“Nope.”

“Your air freshener.” You said, sure of yourself.

“Nope, do you give up?”

“I guess.”

“It was that sign we passed by like four miles ago.”

“Lin! You can’t choose something like that!”

“Why not?”

“It’s cheating!”

“No, it’s called strategy.” He said smugly. You socked him in the arm and took your turn.

Lin won the game, through lots of cheating you might add.

As you stepped out of the car, you were greeted with the sight of Wesleyan University.

“Wha-”

“Now this is only our first stop for the night. I thought you might like a tour of the campus. It might convince you that you made a bad decision not going to Wesleyan.”

“Haha, very funny. But can I ask how you expect to get a tour of the campus when it's 6 o’clock at night?”

“See, since I’m Lin-Manuel Miranda, I can get whatever the hell I want, especially since I’m an alumni here.”

As Lin said that, a man came walking out of one of the buildings, carrying two folders with him.

“Hello, Mr. Miranda.” He said, walking up to Lin and shaking his hand. “Hello, Ms. Miranda.” He now gave his hand to you. You shook his hand, still in a state of shock, since Lin wasn’t kidding when he said you guys were getting a tour of the university.

The tour was just as you remembered it. You all passed by the science building and you were hit with another memory.

Senior year was fast approaching, so your parents decided that summer was a great time to visit colleges. You’d already visited a couple, some you had good chances of getting into, others not so much. The whole experience was fun, but at this point, you just really wanted to go home and be able to sleep. This was the second and last college of the day and you were dreading it. It didn’t help that being around other people your age made you anxious. They were so different yet similar to you that you could hardly stand them, let alone kids from your own school.

Wesleyan University had a beautiful campus, but it just didn’t give you that vibe. The vibe that this was the place that you belonged in, that feeling that this was home. But you continued the tour because the tour guide said there would be snacks waiting for everyone at the end of the tour.

Five minutes into the tour, a young man followed by an older man, who looked similar to him so you could only assume that was his father, walked up to the rest of the tour. They were both out of breath as they stood next to you and your parents.

You gave the younger man a questioning look and he shrugged and leaned in close to whisper “My dad got lost on the way here.” You nodded in response and paid attention to the tour guide.

You thought that was the end of the conversation, but the other guy apparently didn’t. “You from here?”

“Not really.”

“Where do you live?”

You sighed loudly, hoping he would see that you were exasperated with the conversation. He didn’t care. “New York.”

“Really? So do I!”

“Lin.” His dad said. You stifled a laugh as Lin quickly shut his mouth so his dad wouldn’t yell at him again.

The tour guide led everyone inside a building. You could hear him start explaining how it was a science building and where they got the money to afford to build it. Lin decided this was a perfect opportunity to start talking again.

“Where in New York do you live?”

“NYC.”

He nodded his head and thankfully, that’s the end of that conversation. The tour guide leads everyone upstairs and as you lifted your leg to step up, you tripped on your untied shoelaces. Your leg got stuck in the air and you barely had a chance to fall forward before you mom turns around to you, ultimately knocking you backwards instead.

With a yelp, you fell backwards until you’re caught in the air by a certain Nuyorican.

“Looks like you’re falling for me.” He said with a smirk.

You scoffed and stand up, putting as much space as you can from ‘Lin.’

Thankfully, the memory isn’t relived and you make it up the steps without incident.

Everything else about the tour was unmemorable, the first time you went through it. If there was anything you remembered from the first tour, it was that Lin consistently tried to flirt with you, and consistently failed.

The next stop on Lin’s surprise night is a restaurant. And not just any restaurant. It's your favorite restaurant.

It's a pizza parlor, that only just recently got renovated to add indoor seating. You and Lin are much too overdressed, but Lin didn’t seem to mind as he led you over to a table he apparently reserved. You both sit down and a waitress comes over with two small menus. Lin waves the menu away and said, “I already know what we’re going to order.”

“Do you now?” You asked, resting your chin on your hand.

The waitress tried to stifle her laugh. Lin stuck his tongue out at you and continued. “Yes, half-mushroom and half sausage pizza, with three mushrooms on each slice of the mushroom side, one lime Coke, one regular Coke, an order of garlic bread, with extra garlic, and buffalo wings, with two ranches and one nacho cheese.”

You were shocked.

“What?” Lin asked when the waitress walked away.

“We haven’t been here in five years. You still remembered our order.”

“Of course I do. I remember everything.”

You smirked. “Everything?”

Lin noticed the evil twinkle in your eye. “What?”

“Do you remember the first time we came here?”

His cheeks went red. “Nope, don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh I think you do.”

Another memory found its way through your head.

On your one year anniversary, you’d decided to take Lin to your favorite restaurant, one that your family always took you and your sibling up to on vacations. It was where they had met, and you’d always dreamed of meeting your own soulmate there too. Unfortunately that never happened, but you were pretty happy with the place where you met your soulmate.

You’d told him about it, but neither of you ever had the time to go and visit it. But for your one year anniversary, you both thought it would be fun to take the long drive up to Middletown for the date.

You loved mushroom pizza, but only from this pizzeria. No other pizzaria could match the taste of this pizza, so you’d never ordered it anywhere else. Which was why Lin was surprised when you ordered a large mushroom pizza.

“Mushrooms?” He asked, taking a nervous sip of his water.

“Yeah… Is that okay?”

“Yeah, its just just never ordered mushroom pizza before.”

“That’s because I only like it from here.” At seeing the anxious look on his face, you added “We can make it half and half if you want, it's okay.”

“No, I love mushrooms! Don’t worry, babe.” Lin said quickly. You nodded your head, although you already knew he was lying. But if he didn’t want to speak up, then you were just going to sit back and watch as a disaster happened. Boy, was it going to be a great show.

And a great show it was.

When the pizza came, Lin gagged, though he hid it pretty well. But considering how well you knew Lin, you knew when he was disgusted with something. And he was definitely disgusted now.

“Smells amazing right?” You asked, smiling big.

“Yup! Can’t wait to eat it!” He rushed to grab a slice and stuffed a big bite into his mouth. His eyes widened as the slimy texture of the mushroom finally touched his tongue. With great difficulty, he swallowed it, and smiled at you.

“Taste good, babe?” You asked. He smiled, but you could see the pain in his eyes.

He struggled to eat two slices of pizza, and you happily ate half of the pie.

Once the pizza was stored away in a take out container and the meal was paid for, you and Lin left the pizzeria.

Lin was silent as you guys walked back to the car.

“Lin, are you-”

Before you finished your sentence, Lin was running to some bushes across the street, and throwing up what he had eaten. You ran to him, asking him if he was okay.

“Yeah, I just...”

“Don’t like mushrooms?”

He looked down guiltily.

“Lin, babe.” You used your finger to lift his head up by his chin. You grabbed the sleeve of the hoodie that was wrapped around your waist to wipe his mouth. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“You seemed really excited to eat here, and when you ordered that,” He made a disgusted face, “I didn’t want to make you unhappy. You love it whenever we have something in common, and I just like making you happy, okay?”

You shook your head, smiling. “I also like it when we have things not in common. It keeps me on my toes, you know.” You joked, but then turned serious. “I want to make you happy too, and I want to take care of you. Letting you suffer by eating mushroom doesn't seem like taking care of you. Next time you don’t like something, you tell me, okay? We’re married and that means we take care of each other, Lin. It's not a one-way thing.”

He smiled, and wrapped his arms around your torso. “Got it.” He leaned down for a kiss and you quickly turned your head away.

“Okay, I love you a lot, but what we’re not gonna do is make out after you just vomited all over some people’s lawn.”

He smiled again, and settled for kissing you on your cheek.

“I thought we agreed to never bring that up again.” Lin said.

“Wha- No! That was the funniest thing to ever happen. You weren’t watching your face as you ate it, Lin. You looked like you were forced to eat shit.”

“It tasted like shit too.”

“Hey!”

He put his arms up in surrender. “I’m just being honest.”

The time at the pizzeria is uneventful. You and Lin just continue to talk and joke around, occasionally throwing food at each other, thus earning the stares of parents in the pizzeria. Neither of you were setting a good example to any of the kids in there.

Once the food was eaten and packed away, you and Lin left. There was a beach not too far from the pizzeria, so that was the next stop.

Like every other moment of that night, the beach brought up old memories of you and your husband.

It wasn’t necessarily the beach that you were afraid of; it was the nasty creatures that resided in the ocean. Namely, jellyfish. When you were ten years old, a jellyfish came and stung you on your arm. This was back when people still believed peeing on a jellyfish sting actually helped it; so of course what happened on that horrible day? Your friend, who’d been there with you, decided that they were going to save the day, and peed on your arm. Unfortunately, they didn’t pay attention to where they were peeing and accidentally got some pee on your hair.

Since then, beaches were completely banned for you. It was Lin who’d convinced you to go to a beach during spring break in your freshman year of college. You just absolutely refused to go anywhere near the water. Your rational adult brain knew that there was no reason for you to be afraid of the ocean, but your inner child always came out whenever a beach was mentioned, so you still never managed to go into the actual ocean. And if you would ever go to the beach, it would only be with Lin by your side, so that he could “beat all the mean, ol’ jellyfish away from you”, as he kindly explained it.

It was your fear of beaches that gave Lin the brilliant idea to propose to you there.

“Now wait, hear me out.” Lin said when he brought the idea up with your older sister. “I want to replace a bad memory with a good one. This is the perfect way to do it!”

Now you had to admit, when your sister told you he said this after that day, it made perfect sense. And you couldn’t help but fall more in love with him, if that were even possible.

Lin took you to the beach, as normal as ever. He’d even coaxed you into going to the edge of the water, watching him as he splashed around in the water, and giggling whenever he splashed you in return.

It was there, when he got down on one knee, submerging almost his entire lower half of his body in the water, that he proposed to you. Too bad that immediately after you said yes, and he was standing up to put the ring on you, a jellyfish stung Lin. On his… private part.

He was rushed immediately to the hospital, and the whole way there, Lin cried about how he ruined the proposal.

“Babe, it was perfect, stop crying about it. I love it.”

“But it's ruined. I tried to give you a good memory but now its a bad memory.”

“Baby, a couple years from now, hell, a couple days from now, we’re gonna be laughing about today. Don’t worry Lin, everything about today was perfect.”

He, of course, still wasn’t happy about that. But you were right. A couple days later, when Lin’s embarrassment was gone, he laughed about the situation until he couldn’t breath and he had tears rolling down his face.

You and Lin walked along the water’s edge, talking about each other’s job, occasionally splashing the other with water using your feet. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

The drive back to New York was quiet, the only sound in the car being a CD that Lin made for you on your birthday many years ago. Come to think of it, everything you had in your life was touched by Lin. Even the car, which you’d had for 10 years now, was touched by Lin; he was there when you bought the car and he’d been the one to pick it.

There was nothing that didn’t have Lin all over it, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

“What are you smiling about over there?” Lin asked, grabbing your hand and giving the back of it a big smooch.

“Nothing. Just that I’m lucky to have you.” You turned to look at him. “I love you so much, Lin-Manuel.”

“I love you too, Y/N. I love you so much.”

I would actually point more towards Kaminari being the most probable one to react on screen, since he’s always got something to say in scenes like this one - and in general towards Kami, Baku and Sero being the ones to... confront? Kirishima specifically about this mission, not because I don’t want Mina to be there too! But generally as far as past arcs go Mina seems to be more part of the girls group than anything, and since Tsuyu and Uraraka were there too she might be between the ones reacting to Tsu and Ura more specifically (like she was the one to fawn over the two of them after their first day of internship) while Sero, Baku and Kami were the ones to react on screen to Unbreakable AND the ones Kiri spoke to about his insecurities to begin with... then again, given the flashback I do hope Mina will be proud of him on screen......... aaaahhhhhhhh I guess we won’t know until Horikoshi will finally show us, will we? ;u;

Can I ask you to not, like, dismiss the fact that I have, in fact, been drawing haikyuu? If you’re talking about emojis and not kaomojis then I’m with you on that lmao mostly cause I feel like Bakugou would be a really lazy texter but would at the same time be the type to dislike writing without capitals or proper punctuation and so on, so to avoid having to put actual effort into texting he just answers (when he answers) using one single emoji and thats it. It’s up to his interlocutor to understand what he meant with it. Up until now the only people who get it 100% of the times are Kirishima, Sero and surprisingly Todoroki.

RK’S FOURTH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS CONCLUDE

What better way to celebrate four years of Rookies than with a bit of a makeover, right? Yes, those of you that noticed the change in icon and/or that the main was private for about an hour probably guessed it. Check out our lovely new theme, courtesy of the amazing Mod Razel! Those of you that were around in December 2013 may feel a little familiarity in some of the graphics, because this theme drew inspiration from the first theme Rookies ever had. The new acceptance graphics will kick in next week, so please look forward to it! Pardon our dust as we clean everything up and apply the necessary changes to our numerous sideblogs, too. We had intentions of getting all of this finished yesterday at the end of the queue, but what can we say, sometimes high quality work takes a little bit more time!! We hope it was well worth the wait.

To conclude the celebrations of this incredible landmark, we, your staff team, wanted to share our feelings on all of this beyond just a blanket announcement-- in a little more of a personal way. We always enjoy reading all the posts from you guys when you reach an important benchmark on your characters, be it a year anniversary, a certain number of posts, or more, so this is our version of that as mods. the fact i'm writing this right now is pretty surreal (especially since i forgot about it and had to do it while lying in bed ready to sleep). i was one of the last additions to the admod team and sometimes i still need to stop and think about it to remember that actually happened. i had been a member of rookies for less than a year when i was given the chance to become a mod and even if at first i wasn't sure if i was ready for the job i'm glad i took it! rookies has become something close to a second home to me and i often find myself choosing to write something instead of studying for an exam. during my time here i actually graduated from high school and got into an university which sounds crazy to me!! now debuts are happening and i can't wait to see what more this rp has in store for us. i truly do hope rookies continues going for many more years and that i can help it grow into something even better that can bring joy to whoever wants to join us (or is already part of the family)! watch out for events and see you next year, rookies!

Happy Birthday, Rookies!  As a lot of you know, I’ve been here since the first day Rookies opened, four years ago!  I’ve really enjoyed my time here and the opportunities I’ve had to bring my muses to life and to write with so many talented people over the years.  I just want to say that Rookies has been a major part of my life for a long time now and I’m very grateful for that.  

Over four years, I’ve played several characters, though probably Taeyeon is the one I’m best known for, having played her for every single day of the four years I’ve been here!  My other two current muses are Seulgi and Sejeong, and I’m quite happy with how both of them have progressed so far!   I’ve also played the actress Kim Jiwon, After School’s Lizzy, GFriend’s Yerin (who became Seulgi), APink’s Eunji, & Pristin’s Minkyung.  I’ve enjoyed writing with all of you that I’ve had the chance to and even if I haven’t, I’ve enjoyed seeing you all here over the years, building your own characters in this world we share.

We have a lot more coming up in the future of Rookies, including debuts! (Finally, I know some of you are saying, myself included lol)  I just want to say thank you for all of you that have been here, no matter how long or short of a time you’ve been here.  Rookies is an amazing rpbecause of each and every one of you that takes the courage to put your writing out there.  So really and truly, thank you for being here and sharing your lives, and your muses lives, with us.  Here’s to more fantastic times in the future!

i remember feeling both excited and super nervous while writing my app to become a mod for rookies over two years ago - those who were close to me at the time can confirm that i wrote about six different versions for it, and ended up changing to a seventh one last minute because i STILL wasn't sure of what to send! i also remember the day mama piper told me she picked me as events mod as one of the happiest days of my life; i love her and rookies more than i can explain in this tiny little message and it means the world to me to have been chosen into such an important and special role in it. i know i've been lacking in my job and i would like to take the chance to apologize to all my members for being absent. i would also like to thank everyone for letting me be here and helping me grow both as a mod and as a person. please, know this: if i haven't been around as much as i should have, it's because i now finally have the strength and courage to take care of myself properly. i have accomplished many, many things this past year, and i know that i couldn't have done it without all that i've learned while being your events mod and your head of development. rookies is a part of me that i dearly love, and i promise i won't ever give up on it. it's not everyday you get to be a staff member of a rp that shares your own birthday, after all. ♡

i really honestly can’t believe rookies has been around for four years (people have entered and graduated HIGH SCHOOL in the time rookies has been open!!) but at the same time, i can. rookies always seemed like a special rp, and once it got through the original bumps, i’m really glad nothing stopped it. i think the most unbelievable thing is that i’m here, talking about this as a mod (admin???) those of you that have been around for a while have heard the story before. i joined rookies a few days before christmas 2013, and i was so overwhelmed by everything-- back then, my health was even worse than it is now, and i had no idea that i even had lyme disease, i was just sick allll the time. i thought for sure i would end up dropping in the first two weeks. i don’t actually remember how or why i stuck around, but by february, i was really invested and attached. over time, i started reading and liking every solo and sns post anyone ever posted, and kept up with what was going on in the lives of all of the characters here (i was inspired by our now former admin piper, who did the same thing before i did!) and i’m sure that’s what got me my dash mod job at the end of 2015. in my mod app, i said “i love rookies and rookies has helped me so much in the near two years i’ve been here, so i’d love to give back even half as much as i’ve gotten from it,“ and i think that sums up why i became a mod really well. rookies has been here for me when i didn’t know what all of my health issues were, when i got my diagnosis of lyme disease, and through all of the (continuing) ups and downs of treatment for it, and i can’t honestly express enough how wonderful it’s been for me to always count on rookies to be here as a creative outlet, and something to enjoy, and to always count on you all for your support. i like to think in the two years i’ve been a mod, that i’ve done a good job of giving back some of what i’ve gotten from rookies, though i think i still have some work to do before i reach giving back half as much, because you guys are always giving a lot to me every day, too. i should probably cut myself off before this gets EVEN LONGER so all the other mods can talk too (joke’s on you carly your message is so long that it got moved to the end) but i feel really blessed to be here in this exact moment, with the exact role i’ve had. i hope that my being a mod has made rookies a bit better of a place, and that your lives have been a little brighter because of it. thank you all for talking to me about your muses, and trusting me to sort out things that bother you, for choosing to spend your time and energy here, and for helping me learn and grow into a better person every day. in good times and bad, rookies has always been some of the good for me. i love you all dearly and i’ll keep working to make rookies a place you can enjoy for an even longer time  ♡♡♡

Red is honestly one of my favorites too. It was so easy to write (compared to apt) hahaha and although Sehun wasn’t a good character in it, I enjoyed the progression of how real the characters were? Like---this happens in real life and not all things end happily with rainbows and butterflies. It is a struggle to see a person go through something like this but it’s also a testament to their character and their willpower to walk away from it and say when they’ve had enough. This cast...this cast...this cast. So i know like 90% of these people. I'm currently hosting 4 of them...was hosting 5. It's a very strong cast which is great, but it also means that anyone can go at any time. I'm just gonna talk about them in order of the cast reveal. Brien: I've never spoken to him and have still yet to. He's one of the people in ihos but he's quiet there. Andrew: another ihos person who I haven't spoken to. I've seen him around for years but we've never played a game together. Or at least have never been on the same tribe. Madison: big titty queen. I love her with all my heart and I have no idea what is going to happen with her. She messy but amazing so who knows. She did meet JG and Jacob in person a few weeks ago so they are all close, so i do need to keep an eye out for all of them, even though I am close with them. Ricky: another ihos, and he is friends with Andrew. I doubt he's going to work with me so that is concerning. But it's early so who knows. I'm already getting bored of typing things about everyone. Kevin: no idea, but he seems nice. Madeleine: A true queen and a sweetheart. Julia: no comment. Pat: i've seen him win 2 games that i have played with him. He is quiet but dangerous and I need to watch out for him in time, but for now he will be a good ally. Stephen: king, but does tend to go early. Idk where he will stand this game but we're already in an alliance together. Vi: haven't seen her in over a year, kind person. Dylan: cracked Kenny: no idea Joanna: scary legend who will go hard, but has been very quiet thus far. I wonder who quit right before the start of the game. Jacob: we never talk, but as of now he is who i have been talking to the most and I really do trust him. I am hoping this game is different for us and that we will actually work together. I'm excited to see what happens. Thomas: can't wait for him to strike out JG: King, who also is close with a few people, but i do trust him, but he can be a snake. Jay: It's been a minute since he's played. Not sure how to feel.

Hey out there! Long time no see! To be honest, I don't really have the first idea at what I'm doing. I kinda missed the first day and a half because I was working and then immediately went out with friends, but I think I'm making up for it! I'm starting to chat one-on-one with people, no strategy talk yet though. Which could be real dangerous since I don't have immunity, but there are people that just...haven't talked at all, as far as I can tell at least. Luckily I have a few prior connections in Madison, Joanna, and Andrew. I know Pat and Ricky too but I'm iffy on how they feel about me. I'm pretty sure I ghosted Pat's game earlier this year, SORRY PAT! I got busy and then I felt too embarrassed to show back up D: and I've just never been too sure about if Ricky likes me or not. But other than that I've talked a bit to Madeleine and Vi and I love them both, messy challenge chat icons. I totally missed some messages from Brien, Jacob, and Kevin though, but I've messaged them all back now so hopefully they don't hold that against me. Tribal isn't until tomorrow, so I assume that's when the real scrambling will begin. I just don't know when to jump into alliance talks, I don't want to play too hard too fast. DEAR FRAN HOW DO YOU DRAW HANDS AND ANATOMY IN GENERAL I NEED HELP

A while ago I made some sort of step by step for how I go about hands, but if it’s about anatomy as a whole I ??? honestly don’t know how to answer?? The most I can tell you is that generally when I sketch a living being I divide the body in main zones and simple shapes first, if it’s a person mostly keeping in mind these ?? and as far as keeping the positions realistic goes I try to visualize the skeleton under it all - it’s pretty easy to notice if something’s too flat or bent at the wrong angle when you keep in mind the bones’ solid shapes imho

But with such a broad question like that when I myself have never really studied anatomy to begin with I can’t give you a better answer than this! I’m really, really sorry o
