no you don't get it. i literally love stories where they dive into people's hearts/minds (literally or figuratively) sm it's my favourite type of storytelling.

tbh i think that even unwinnable fights should be winnable. some of the BEST fights i've ever run as a dm were ones i built kill the players (in a fun way. I had some cutscenes prepped so even the loss would be a different flavour of win)- but then they were clever bastards and managed to either win the fights or pull themselves out of trouble. I think it's perfectly fine to plan for a fight that players aren't supposed to win, but you need to let them. if they can't win, they can't lose, and the meaning of that encounter is diminished. do that too many times, and they stop trusting you to give them roleplay prompts and start expecting to sit there waiting while you drive the story for them.
but if they can win... if there is always the chance to win, no matter how impossible the odds, then they ALWAYS have hope. they always get invested. they feel the big emotions of success or the big emotions of failure, and you fucking Win as a dm/roleplay prompter/lead bastard.

Google: hello I recommend this show to you based on your interest in 1600s Japanese modern period dramas and animations
Me: oh actually this show is pretty neat, I like that the Japanese characters actually speak Japanese and not *winkwink* they're totes talking in Japanese but for the viewer's sake they're using English *winkwink* and from the sound of it traditional Japanese at that because this is sounding very antiquated and out of date compared to my rough knowledge of modern Japanese
Show: :)
Show: have 10 minutes of a character being tortured by being boiled to death in a large cast iron pot :)
Me: ...

Connected Timelines Ramble: Backing off my previous 'Geno has an ex' headcanon, what if Dust happened to be that ex? I can see them bonding over shared trauma: surviving a genocided timeline and losing their brothers.
So when Dust eventually came clean about his past, that he genocided his own timeline [and others under Nightmare], even if he felt guilty and wanted to change, the heartbreak and betrayal Geno would have felt was devastating.
Even if it was originally done to stop Chara, the fact that he continued to genocide other timelines was despicable in Geno's eyes. Dust became the very same person he hated, and all Geno could see when looking at Dust was her. He broke it off instantly and Dust respected his decision and never contacted him again.
Given that Nightmare and Dream have now been at peace for decades, they're often invited to the same get togethers. They've never told anyone else about their previous relationship, so they act all awkward around each other and nobody knows why.

How resistent are your angels?
Could a human gun hurt them
Or only magic stuff?
Anything can be used to hurt them as long as they are on the same plane of existence but I should probably elaborate on that- to preface this is a big major element of my world building I've had since for a decade now so buckle up.
In my story, there are several 'planes of existence' that make up a universe. Earth, and well everything we are physically aware of and can touch/see is the Physical Realm (P.R), aka the tangible zone where spiritual, dream, liminal influence is minimal.
The opposite of the P.R is the Plane of Pure-Existence where everything that cannot exist within the physical resides. It's where angels, demons, souls, ghosts, deities, entities, Heaven+Hell is and has several 'levels' of separation from the P.R.
Tumblr media
The closer a layer is to the P.R, the more effect the souls (angels, demons, etc) inhabiting that layer can have on it. For example:
Layer one: A soul can possess a tangible body, move some physical igniting flammable material, conjure tangible elemental threats, communicate with tangible beings. (Think poltergeists)
Layer five: A soul can only communicate with faint elemental influences like a timely breeze.
Movement between the layers is very possible yet the more powerful/large an entity is, the more difficulty it has getting closer to the P.R. This is why guardian angels look the way they do so they are able to be close to humans with relative ease. It's also why The Admin isn't making frequent appearances to humans.
So I guess to answer your question: A human gun cannot harm an angel cause angels typically exist on an entirely different plane. But if they were in the P.R then yes a gun could be used against them. Though that then would beg the question if it would 'hurt' em or well...even inconvenience them

how do we feel about silver with a fixation, an obsession even, to become something more powerful. a god even. a child striving to surpass his own physical limitations to harness a power that lets him become to sole arbiter of what he deems to be justice, even if it were to destroy his own body in the process. a selfish desire to finally be the one who gets to decide who gets to suffer in this world, masked under genuine care and a wish to do the right thing by any means necessary

Izuku 1/2 - better name pending -Snip
"You haven't used your quirk." Izuku looked up from the snack he got at the vendors. "The first two events of the Sports Festival are over." Todoroki stated. "You could have handled the obstacle course with ease with your wings, no one would have been able to touch you. Instead you handicapped yourself."
"This is not a criticism I need to hear from someone who's only been using half their quirk the entire year." Izuku pointed out.
"It's not a criticism, I just wanted to know if...if we're doing it for the same reason." There was an edge of desperation in his voice. An almost need that somebody would understand.
"It's not just that I'm not using it." Izuku unscrewed the the cap of his water and pour some on his exposed arm, where it beaded up unnaturally. "I've made it so I can't. There was a time when these water-based transformation quirks were a lot more common, so they developed a type of waterproof soap to prevent accidents." "Why?' Todoroki breathed.
"Because," Izuku seemed to falter for a second before steeling himself. "I love my quirk. I love how useful it can be in being a hero. But I am NOT my quirk. My potential, my capacity to help, to grow, to achieve, those things are me and not a magical transformation. So many people see a hero and their potential as as nothing more than their quirk and they're wrong." Izuku ended his impromptu speech with a snarl.
Todoroki sat down hard. Blood pounded in his ears as Midoriya's words repeated themselves again and again in his ears I am not my quirk.
Because his quirk was all he'd even been. He'd been born for it, his siblings had been born in their attempts to make what would be his quirk. His childhood, his training, everything he'd ever been was because of his quirk, and the bastard that gave him half of it.
I am not my quirk
They're wrong
"Todoroki, are you okay?"
"Do you really believe there's more to me than my quirk?"
Izuku was quiet for a moment. "Todoroki, who do I need to have Sensei beat up?"
Sheer confusion brought him back to his sense for a bit. "What?" "If I beat them up I'm going to get expelled. Sensei, he -he really doesn't care." "He doesn't care about going toe to toe with the number 2 pro hero?" Todoroki asked skeptically. To his surprise, Midoriya grinned. "Well, the last pro hero was a hugely disappointing fight, so this would probably be a treat."
"Who was the last hero?"
"Not gonna name names, but someone who thought me being quirkless meant I should be abused and be thankful for the opportunity to serve my betters."
That was sick. "I hope your Sensei kicked his ass." Izuku grinned. It wasn't a nice grin. "He did." Then his grin faltered. "I was a late bloomer. Eight years old." "Did things get better?" Todoraki asked. "Almost immediately." Izuku said bitterly. "But that was almost worse because, things didn't really change, I just wasn't someone less evolved, so how they treated me was wrong. But...that's not why it was wrong and the next quirkless person or person with an unactivated quirk would be treated just how I was. So I want to change the idea that quirks are what's important. I'm going to do my best to win the sports festival quirkless. I'll show everyone just what the quirkless can do!"
Todoroki's hands gripped his knees. "My father, Endeavor - the number two hero. He bought my mother because he wanted her quirk. He wanted to create a strong enough quirk to unseat All Might. It took him four tries to succeed. He doesn't really care about my siblings, just me - his masterpiece." "And your mother?" Izuku was almost afraid to ask.
"She's been in a mental hospital since I was small."
"Consider his ass kicked." Izuku took a swing of his water. "Todoroki...I completely support you not using your fire today, but you're going to have to use it in hero work eventually. So," Izuku grinned. "How would you feel about using it in a way impossible for Endeavor?"
"Impossible for Endeavor?" Todoroki tilted his head like a confused cat. "For all his faults as a human being, he's a master of the flame."
Izuku snorted. "Master? His abilities are no fire, yes fire, and unreasonable amount of fire. What I'm talking about is being a rescue hero."
Todoroki let out a small laugh at Izuku's description of Endeavor's capabilities. The first Izuku had ever heard him make. "What do you mean a rescue hero? I'm clearly most suited for combat."
"And according to the people growing up the only thing I was suitable for was a training tool for actual quirked people to practice their quirks on, so fuck was people say we're 'suited' for'." Izuku paled. "Please don't tell my Mom I said that. But your quirk would be perfect for rescue work."
"How so?"
"You can make fire at will. You could keep people warm in an avalanche - and your ice could do the opposite in an overheating situation. You could be light in a cave in or night rescue. You could combine your fire and ice to make fresh water, or use your fire to cook. Your ice could act as supports to prevent further collapse, kind of like Rock Lock's quirk. You would be an AMAZING rescue hero. And all of it would be using both sides of your quirk to help and comfort rather than just attack. And that's kinda of what I meant by something Endeavor wasn't capable of. He's sort of a combat monster, for a given value, but that's all he is."
That was...that was a lot of things no one had ever told him before. He was told since his quirk appeared that he was going to be the best hero, and to do that he needed to take down villains. But to Midoriya, he had potential outside of combat. To help those that needed it the most without causing harm. That the fire he hated so much could be used as a gentle warmth.
Midoriya was right. That was impossible for his father.
"A rescue hero. I...I think I like that. Thank you for you guidance."
"We both have something to prove." Midoriya he'd out his water bottle like a toast. "Let's mess with their conceptions."
Todoroki grinned and tapped his own water bottle to Midoriya's. "Let's"

Been thinking about the simultaneous 3-pronged assault that is beginning in the next episode (or two) and how they're going to run it. I've got four methods I think are plausible:
One by One
Each party runs their complete mission in one go. Likely in the order of Vox Machina, Mighty Nein, and finally Bells Hells.
Each previous party's run determines boons and penalties for the following party(s).
I don't find this one likely though, since it kind of wrecks the idea of the battles being simultaneous in an effort to pull forces off of each other and keep the enemy's attention split when the first party to go doesn't actually get anything from the other parties, the second only gets feedback from the first, and only the last gets all the "benefits".
Checkpoints
Each party takes turns working on their mission, but it rotates to the next party when they reach certain stages of the fight that Matt has predetermined, with whatever they've achieved in that time granting boons and penalties to the other parties in the next stage.
This feeds the simultaneous factor more while still allowing the players to lock-in on their party character for a good while. But does come with the difficulty of picking good checkpoints to change party as a staple of D&D is not knowing how things are going to turn out.
Round by Round
Getting things even more simultaneous, each party gets to play one (1) round of the combat before it rotates to the next party, who gets one round, etc. Any boons or penalties earned go into effect in the next round, ie Mighty Nine earns a boon for Vox Machina and Bells Hells in round 3, so VM and BH feel that boon in their own round 4.
Pretty darn simultaneous, but a little rough on the players as they regularly and semi-quickly switch battle fields and characters. Which comes with a chance of wrecking the momentum on the individual fields.
Super Mega Initiative
All the fights are on one Initiative count and all battlefields are live together.
Obviously this is the most simultaneous the battles can get as every action plays across the fields immediately as they happen.
It also seems absolutely hellish on the DM and players to try and track all of it together at once. The probability that the same initiative count is active on all three battlefields is pretty likely when you've got 22-23 PCs, a number of allied NPCs (mostly in the VM section), and all of the enemy NPCs (which include armies). Chances are super high here that someone's turn gets accidentally dropped (multiple times) just because there's so much going on at once. And for that reason, I find it about as likely as the One by One playstyle.

The Jeanne Benoit arc is so brutally painful to watch, like it tears me apart I get so conflicted emotionally
On one hand, I love seeing Tony growing up, opening his heart (foolishly and accidentally), getting an idea of what he's like in a romantic relationship (I keep saying "I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS BUT WITH ZIVA" every few minutes鈥攈e's SO sweet)
But on the other hand, it's like watching a train wreck. Can't look away, but you know disaster is imminent. Pain all around. Ziva is worried out of her mind. Flirting had been dialed up to 10. Tony is hiding secrets from everybody and his heart is stretched thin. Everyone is gonna get hurt, so every sweet moment is like a knife in the gut. You know Jeanne doesn't deserve this. And ultimately the woman Tony needs is right there worrying for his health and well being, but they're just babies and have no clue what's in store for them.
It makes me SICK
Excellent TV, 10/10, they don't make em like this anymore. Where's the Tylenol
