Hey, yanno how Climate Change is a real thing that is tangibly, at this moment, affecting our world?
Well it turns out, the wealthy and their investment firms have been seeing the mounting evidence that oil companies have had for decades and are slowly starting to think more long-term about their portfolios in the face of rising sea levels, more extreme weather, and the myriad of ways climate crises are affecting...well. Everything. Maybe this means they invest more into sustainability, green energy, building more resilient infrastructure, or carbon offsets. Some of it, of course, is simple corporate greenwashing, but there are those that are taking this trend and packaging it into something called ESG (Environmental, Social, and corporate Governance).
Now some people would say this is predictable, even sensible. Just the good ol’ Free Market(tm) rationally responding to market forces and a changing world.
But those people would be fools! Insidious fools! For conservative sorcerers have come out with a new cursed phrase to explain this new market trend: Woke Investing.
What makes this investing “woke?” Well, much like how conservatives normally flounder when trying to define a word they stole from black people, “Woke Investing” essentially just means any kind of capital investment that they, the fossil fuel billionaire class and their sycophants, don’t personally profit from.
One of these aforementioned sycophants is Andy Puzder, conservative commentator, fellow at The Heritage Foundation, and former fast-food CEO. He calls this kind of so-called woke investing “socialism in sheep’s clothing,” further explaining in leaked audio of a closed-door meeting:
“My father's generation's challenge was the Nazis, who, by the way, were, of course, very proud socialists[citation fucking needed]. The challenge of my generation was the communists, who were, of course, very committed socialists. The challenge of your generation is ESG investing, and it's more insidious than communism or the Nazis.”(source)
You heard it here first, folks. Not investing as much in fossil fuels is more insidious than the Third Fucking Reich.
As usual, the Heritage Foundation is putting their petro-chemical donor’s money where their mouth is. Bills are being proposed to blacklist banks that don’t invest in key state industries, such as West Virginia coal or Texas oil. Fourteen states have already passed bills to restrict ESG-type investing, with Florida Governor Ron “Bullies Kids for Wearing Masks” Desantis leading the charge.
In other words, Climate Denial has reached such a point that so-called Free Market Conservatives who claim to hate big government are trying to make it illegal for banks, investment firms, and financial institutions to make any financial decisions that acknowledges Climate Change is real.

Disability support workers provide personal care and help people to build their confidence, skills, and social connections. They also assist them with daily activities, such as going shopping or to the movies. They also take them on excursions or to community events.
Applicants must show that they are professionally competent. This includes having tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline. They also need to provide proof of insurance.
Public sector
The Andrews Labor Government is committed to making the public sector an employer of choice for people with disability jobs Victoria, and to ensuring the right job matches the skills of each person. Public service departments and managers have an important role to play, through policies and positive leadership.
The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing offers a range of employment opportunities, including traineeships and the graduate recruitment and development scheme. NDS CareCareers
The NDS CareCareers Victorian Workforce Promotion Project aims to promote the opportunities for employment within the disability sector in Melbourne and its surrounding areas. This includes developing and disseminating information, networking and advocacy on operational and wider policy issues concerning disability workforce, including the NDIS.
The project also supports NDS members to recruit and retain quality staff. It provides resources for disability workers in a variety of sectors, including community care and residential settings. It offers advice on the NDIS remuneration model, the portable long service benefits scheme and the new Disability Worker Commission check process. It also outlines support worker requirements and provides tips for working with people with disability.
NDS is a member of the Ticket to Work network, which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. The network focuses on improving transition outcomes for young people with disability. It uses Kohler’s key principles of best practice transition and a strong emphasis on career development and employment first.

The Destruction of the American Dream

After the terrorist attacks on New York in September 11, 2001, hate and prejudice against Muslims and other minorities skyrocketed. A surge of discrimination followed in all aspects of life, including the workplace. As time passed, discrimination began to gradually decrease. With the recent election of Donald Trump as president of the United States of America, hate and prejudice have once again rocked the nation. Igniting feelings of White supremacy and drilling fear in the hearts of minorities including women, he has brought discrimination to the forefront.
Despite having placed countless laws and administrative policies forbidding discrimination in the workplace, these issues remain prevalent and on the rise in the United States today. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, in particular, declares discrimination on the basis of sex, race, and religion unconstitutional.[i] Despite the supposed onset of liberal hiring policies, employers, to preserve their image and beliefs, choose to hire employees who fit criteria that only promote Caucasian identity. This tendency to continue the trend of white privilege has left minority groups feeling helpless and without employment. Seeking individual freedoms denied to them, some have fought tooth and nail against their employers. Their cases have reached the Supreme Court, which after careful consideration of facts and intent, has made judgments to eliminate discrimination and support diversity.  
Discrimination on the basis of gender:
The Equal Pay Act of 1963, signed and implemented into law by John F. Kennedy, dictates employers to pay the same amount of wages to all genders, working at the same position or level.[ii] Although this law clearly forbids employers from discriminating on the basis of sex, they do not seem to be deterred. Based on the US Census Bureau of 2015, women receive on average, 21% less pay than their male counterparts overall. The wage gap varies by state with Louisiana suffering from the greatest wage gap, a 34.7% difference, and Washington D.C. suffering from the lowest, an average of 10.4%.[iii] Celebrities have also acknowledged and addressed this income disparity head-on. It has recently come to public attention that a world-renowned show, The Big Bang Theory, paid two of the three female leads in the show considerably less money. The other actors of the show stepped up to the plate and willingly decreased their pay so their co-actresses’ pay could increase.[iv] These acts of kindness do not happen everywhere. In many businesses, industries, and corporations, women--despite having the same level of skills as their male counterparts-- have a difficult time progressing to the next stage as every step of the way, their intelligence and capabilities are doubted.
Discrimination on the basis of religion:
Religious discrimination occurs when an employer refuses to hire an applicant or dismisses an employee based on their religious beliefs. In 2008, Abercrombie and Fitch, a major clothing market, rejected Samantha Elauf as a potential employee because she wore a hijab, a religious head scarf. Elauf, with the help of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a federal agency responsible for making sure businesses are abiding by anti-discrimination clauses in the Constitution as well as law, sued Abercrombie and Fitch. Her case reached the Supreme Court, while ruled in her favor with an 8-1 vote. The company’s refusal to accommodate her religious beliefs because of their “look policy” was recognized as violating Title VII of Civil Rights Act of 1964.[v] After the September 2001 terrorist attacks, this form of discrimination increased substantially. Employers hoped to use the angry and unsympathetic public in their favor to reject employees they felt did not fit with their image well. EEOC supports this conclusion in its report; since 2001, complaints of religious discrimination by Muslims have increased by an average factor of 20%.[vi]
Discrimination on the basis of race:
Racial discrimination continued long after the Civil War amendments and the Civil Rights Acts were ratified and implemented. After Title VII came into play, employers took a historical approach to discrimination based on color/race. When the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments were ratified and put into effect, Southern state governments had begun to implement tests that affected minorities more heavily such as literacy and poll tests.[vii] Employers today have placed similar tests or conditions which target Hispanics and African-Americans more heavily and impede their attainment of a job or a promotion.. For example, in businesses that require physical labor only and no high mental capabilities, employers may place a requirement in which a high school diploma or other higher level is education is necessary to prevent African-Americans and Hispanics from receiving the position.[viii] Some companies do not even attempt to disguise their prejudice. Despite having lower qualifications and experience, Caucasian applicants will receive the position over other minorities’ applicants.
Although discrimination is outlawed in the US, many individuals do not come forth due to the court costs, pain and suffering, loss of wages/job and the fear of losing. Winning discrimination lawsuits are incredibly difficult as the burden falls on the plaintiff to show the intent of the employer.[ix] In such cases, employers and their high-end lawyers usually find miniscule details in the applicant for rejecting them as potential employees. These rightful battles, as a result, end up in the victory for the wrong side and the nation continues to suffer through this unlawful turmoil, despite practicing ideals of liberalism and democracy.
