Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.

For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.

And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.

I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.

Divorce Saga Domon - A Haunted Honk Prequel

Ended up outlining a completely different fic as a Segway for an explanation instead of making progress on the Royal Flush Haunted Honk AU's Clown Motel Fic like I wanted to but uh....

For y'all's review for the AU: A Prequel Outline - Divorce Saga Domon

Hey real quick - I'm thinking of maybe changing the timeline to 2 years post canon as opposed to 3 years and change post canon.

The reason being: I had a thought that this scene could either be part if the fic or if it's getting to big then it could be a stand alone tie-in prequel fic as part of this AU but - like

Immediately Post Divorce Domon Needs Space and runs off. As one does. And he runs to Earth because he just wants to Get Lost for a while.

He has Argo smuggle him out to avoid detection.

Argo has Andrew help stow Domon in a storage hanger of a Neo Canadian supply ship that's returning to the US - they have trade often enough and share agricultural resources - which leads to Domon ending up in New York when he hits Earthside pavement.

He's privately worked on his English the last couple of months and after being dropped in New York with a different hairstyle, outfit, and accent he's unrecognizable. 

He considers making his way west to get some solitude in the wilderness, but something about that initial plan feels off now that he's on the ground.

Chibodee is also Earthside for a special series of prize fights aimed at raising charitable appeal for the US in the eyes of Neo Americans.

Domon decides to hit up Chibodee for a fight on a day between matches hoping it'll clear his head and give him the clarity to decide on a course of action. What ends up happening is an unexpected heart to heart via blows and a breakdown.

Domon is happy for Rain and Kyoji, and he knows it's not true; but he feels like he lost a piece of himself when his relationship with Rain fell apart.

Domon's instinct is to run after that but Chibodee knows this city and Domon doesn't hide out for long before Chibodee drags him back to his place to stay and just "Chill out and breathe. You don't have to be anyone but yourself here. You can take as long as you need to find out what everything changing means for you." Friends and teammates stick together.

So Domon spends a few weeks with Chibodee sparring and hanging out in New York. Chibodee does a frankly awesome job at containing his feelings because he's focusing on Domons feelings and being a good friend first and foremost. Whatever he's feeling can wait until after Domon is done going though it.

There's a bit of a twinge in Domon's heart as he leaves that he can't really place.

After he returns to Neo Japan and gets settled back into life with his family, The Dreams start.

They're mainly set in New York. Small things first like noticing Chibodee's smile and his eyes. Then sparring sessions that begin to turn lurid.

He thought these kinds of dreams would stop after he was married.... he doesn't know what to do about this.

I just figure it gives more clarity and sense of time for the journey from Comphet Marriage Dissolution to Feelings to Confession. Idk.

But I got stuck on a bit and then had this thought and needed to get it down before I lost it and it was so long it made sense to make it its own post as opposed to several replies.

The Maize and Clown Motel will probably still be 3 years and change post canon for clarification.

The best thing about Italy and Europe is that linen just- exists here. I can go buy a shitty cheap 100% linen dress like I would go to Fry's and buy a shitty cheap 100% polyester dress in America. Absolutely revolutionary for my wardrobe. I can't actually buy wardrobe enhancements because I have a carry-on suitcase, but the fact I still have the option is amazing.

The difference between these two cards... I love how it visually represents Shiho's growth:

It's a little more abstract in the Stick to Your Faith card by the nature of it being a trained card, but both cards place Shiho on an enclosed rooftop; the framing is completely different, though.

In the first one, Shiho appears to be trapped. She's looking down, touching the grate with her hands. The fence separates her from the sky, invoking the name of the event the card comes from (That day, the Sky was Far Away). In comparison, the other card shows Shiho at ease, looking up with a smile on her face. The fence is still there, but it's not blocking anything; she's able to let the sky embrace her.

The key element here is the sky, and where Shiho is in respect to it. In context, the Shiho2 card is from scene where she's watching Ichika and Honami -- she thinks she's unable to be with them and has resigned herself to her loneliness. The sky is L/N; her friends are far away from her. Though Miu's presence gives middle school Shiho some comfort, it's just not the same. She wants to play music with Ichika, Honami, and Saki; she wants to reach out to that sky she can't quite reach. After all, Shiho is someone who always works her hardest for her dreams -- she's not one to settle. And she doesn't have to, either -- thanks to Saki's return to school, and the events that occur afterwards, she's finally able to reunite with her childhood friends and work towards the purpose she found all those years ago. The rooftop and fence that used to represent her loneliness is now transformed into something softer and more welcoming; the sky is now open to her.

The sky is no longer far away.

The biggest mystery in MLC is why they needed to knock the walls back if the rock Fang Duobing was holding was wedged between the two walls that was moving inwards to crush them.

sometimes my lungs/heart do something funky and im like hm that doesnt seem normal. but then i reason to myself well you just got up and walked around obviously ur heart will beat a little harder since youre moving but then im like no thats bullshit i walked 20 feet to the bathroom that should NOT make my heart beat so hard i feel like i just ran for my life. but then i reason to myself again well youre kind of out of shape so its understandable? and then im like NO bc this has happened even when i was exercising regularly thanks to soccer this isnt normal? but then-

byan got expelled from elementary school for severely beating and injuring a boy who was constantly tormenting and bullying them.

while they've always had anger issues, they haven't always expressed it as easily and openly as they do now. they'd bottle it up in the past, still trying to earn the acceptance and love of the families who took them in. as a kid who often didn't get the attention and care they needed, however, who struggled in class without getting the support they needed, their frustration and anger would build steadily over their years they were in that school. add on to the fact that they were a pretty small, soft looking kid who couldn't seem to keep any friends and liked pink and other "girly" things despite being seen as a boy... they were a prime target for bullying. tormented for years by boys who used them as a punching bag, it was inevitable that one day their anger would get the better of them.

and it did. one day, they hit their limit with the things they could handle and, when one of their main tormentors came at them to make things even more miserable for them... they lost it on him. they went all out, attacked him like a cornered, feral animal, all teeth and fists, just letting out all the anger they'd been holding onto for years. by the time someone pulled byan off of him, he had to go to the hospital, and they were swiftly taken to the principal's office to await their punishment.

thinking about how amanita is pretty young for a drow & basically speedran the beginning stages of her life. i think she looked promising on the surface but was also reckless enough that when it was time to step back, she chose not to & had to face the consequences for that.
