january:

most popular: the terror+ fitzjames lighting the canon (839 notes) he looks hot in this scene so that makes total sense

favorite: yellowjackets + "you're hungry." "for me?" (51 notes) i giffed a lot of yellowjackets at the start of the year, and this gifset barely made a blip on the radar but i still think it makes sense to me and it really scratches an itch in my brain about jackieshauna

february:

most popular: kingsman + taron egerton as eggsy unwin (1,230 notes) kingsman is ridiculous and yet, it's one of my favorite fun movies and taron egerton is BEAUTIFUL in it so i'm glad people appreciate this gifset

favorite: the terror + "god wants you to live" (218 notes) i just think these gifs are really hq and i love the level of detail i was able to capture

march:

most popular: 911 + ...anyways (1,585 notes) buddie gifsets posted right after an ep aired, ESPECIALLY parallel sets, are always going to be some of my most successful, so i get it.

favorite: the terror + close ups of fitzier's hands during death scene (495 notes) while i was giffing this scene and i kept noticing francis stroking fitzjames' hands with his thumb i HAD to capture it in a gifset

april:

most popular: 911 + buck coming out to eddie (2,934 notes) again...buddie edits? posted right after the ep aired? and the powerhouse of buck coming out to eddie??? yeah i would have been very surprised if this was not my biggest set for april. but tbh, not my favorite coloring wise? i've seen other people color this scene better.

favorite: 911 + buck's microexpressions to eddie's reaction (952 notes) i slowed that 3rd gif down so people could really appreciate the face buck makes when eddie says nothing will change between them now that he's come out and damn, i'm so glad i did. could anything be LESS of a relief to this man???

may:

most popular: 911 + eddie/bobby 5.14 conversation (911 notes) i love eddie so i will not dispute this, but i will say i feel like i made more interesting gifsets about eddie in may

favorite: 911 + shannon/eddie ft. stick season by noah kahan (572 notes) specifically, i love this eddie gifset. i was listening to this song a lot in may and one day while driving home the idea just HIT ME for the set and i had to go home and immediately make it. for another, that third gif was sooo hard to make work and keep it below the size limit but it fit the lyric so perfectly that i'm forever pleased i got it to work

(bonus second favorite: 911 + bathena 2.06/7.09 parallel (670 notes) i'm a sucker for my own parallel gifsets, but more importantly, i was SOOO pleased with the coloring of this gifset, especially on athena)

june:

most popular: the terror + jopson crawling to crozier hallucination (547 notes) the most devastating death of the terror getting top billing? yeah ok. i'm good with that.

favorite: the terror + little before speaking to the men (196 notes) i had fun coloring this set—i actually duplicated my coloring layers bc it just seemed to really bring out the details of little's coat

july:

most popular: the terror + goodsir preparing for his death (423 notes) sometimes tumblr is so predictable. goodsir stripping his clothes being my top gifset for july? so very much expected.

favorite: the terror + hickey monologuing (193 notes) there was a point where i thought i would never finish giffing this whole climax bc it just seemed to go on forever and it was so dark and multiple characters speaking. but hickey's monologue was a bright spot and i was pleased with the coloring by this point

august:

most popular: the terror + crozier collapsing (152 notes) the coloring of this gifset was hard bc the sun was coming up as he was collapsing so i had to try and accommodate the color shift! not the easiest, but i do think it worked well?

favorite: the terror + hickey's bloody offering (84 notes) i just love how high quality i managed to get these big gifs. also i thought i did a good job getting a really vibrant red for the blood while keeping the rest of the scene balanced

september:

most popular: the terror + silna's name reveal (814 notes) honestly i'm pleased with all the gifsets with the shaman bc i figured out how to color those scenes in 1.09 and they were always so easy and confidence boosting when i finished one

favorite: the terror + crozier finding jopson's body (266 notes) honestly, i'm a sucker for any of my gifsets that i make extra big. this one is very pretty to me. and personally devastating.

october:

most popular: the terror + mr. goodsir vs dr. goodsir (948 notes) my last terror gifset so far!! it's kind of nice that this is the top set for the month.

favorite: the terror + little and every gold thing there is (242 notes) i got the idea for this gifset v early on in my giffing of this series but i knew i wanted to wait until was fully done giffing the show. so this gifset was years in the making and i'm v glad i posted it.

november/december:

(after posting daily for 2+ years i decided to take a little break and haven't posted any new sets. i was planning on making some during my holiday break but!! alas i forgot my external hard drive at home lol 😅)

probably time for this story i guess but when i was a kid there was a summer that my brother was really into making smoothies and milkshakes. part of this was that we didn't have AC and couldn't afford to run fans all day so it was kind of important to get good at making Cool Down Concoctions.

we also had a patch of mint, and he had two impressionable little sisters who had the attitude of "fuck it, might as well."

at one point, for fun, this 16 year old boy with a dream in his eye and scientific fervor in heart just wanted to see how far one could push the idea of "vanilla mint smoothie". how much vanilla extract and how much mint can go into a blender before it truly is inedible.

the answer is 3 cups of vanilla extract, 1/2 cup milk alternative, and about 50 sprigs (not leaves, whole spring) of mint. add ice and the courage of a child. idk, it was summer and we were bored.

the word i would use to describe the feeling of drinking it would maybe be "violent" or perhaps, like. "triangular." my nose felt pristine. inhaling following the first sip was like trying to sculpt a new face. i was ensconced in a mesh of horror. it was something beyond taste. for years after, i assumed those commercials that said "this is how it feels to chew five gum" were referencing the exact experience of this singular viscous smoothie.

what's worse is that we knew our mother would hate that we wasted so much vanilla extract. so we had to make it worth it. we had to actually finish the drink. it wasn't "wasting" it if we actually drank it, right? we huddled around outside in the blistering sun, gagging and passing around a single green potion, shivering with disgust. each sip was transcendent, but in a sort of non-euclidean way. i think this is where i lost my binary gender. it eroded certain parts of me in an acidic gut ecology collapse.

here's the thing about love and trust: the next day my brother made a different shake, and i drank it without complaint. it's been like 15 years. he's now a genuinely skilled cook. sometimes one of the three of us will fuck up in the kitchen or find something horrible or make a terrible smoothie mistake and then we pass it to each other, single potion bottle, and we say try it it's delicious. it always smells disgusting. and then, cerimonious, we drink it together. because that's what family does.

Annabeth as Odysseus. Both too smart, too cunning, with eyes that have seen to much and dreams too big for this world.

She dreams, sometimes, of the raging sea, of bloodied fields and weary soldiers. Of the warm sun and sand of an island that feels like home. When she wakes up, the memories tug at her mind, tantalisingly out of her reach. (When storms hit the shores of the camp, she hears the roar of waves against the beach echoing in the cabin and she hides under her covers, trembling and gasping in a fear she doesn’t understand).

The first time she meets Clarisse, a new camper with wild eyes and an angry scowl she nearly calls her Achilles. (The only one to notice her hesitation is Mr D. He looks pitying for a second before retreating behind his disdainful apathy).

Percy as Penelope. Both fiercely loyal, resilient and strong. To have them as friends, as lovers, is like having a home.

Percy who flinches at smelly Gabe’s voice, who sees other men superimposed with him, stronger, taller, familiar men. He feels dread and determination rise within him. He lifts his chin. Royalty never bows to anyone. (People forget Penelope came from Sparta after all. She has smiles full of teeth and a sword in her closet).

There’s not enough people talking about how important Stephanie is to Damian’s growth pre-Flashpoint.

Bruce had seen Damian as a beast to be tamed, Tim sees him as a ticking time bomb, and Dick is far better with him but he’s still an authority figure for Damian to combat with. But then he meets Stephanie, a college-aged girl who nobody trusts and he bullies her relentlessly and becomes inseparable from her.

She doesn’t interact with him based on his past, but on what she can see. This 10 year old just threatened to kill her? Wow he doesn’t get outside much. He’s not old enough to have seen Gremlins. What do you MEAN you’ve never been inside a bouncy house before we are fixing that immediately.

They are like cousins to each other. They poke fun at each other for being lame and stupid and Dick has to tell them both to shut up. She doesn’t see him as a project to be molded and redeemed, he’s just a kid with a crappy childhood like her and if he’s nice to her for 5 seconds she’ll do something with him to let him feel like a kid. And he doesn’t look at her and see a liability or a failure or a lost cause, like everyone she’s ever interacted with does. When he’s awful to her, it’s because he’s an obnoxious preteen boy.

And then you get the “there’s room in our line of work for hope, too” scene. Because Damian has gotten to know Steph and he can’t fathom why she’s here. She obviously has had to deal with crap and is still working through being kept on a leash by Nightwing and Oracle, but she isn’t broken like the rest of them are. Damian is surrounded by people who were molded and shaped and torn down and broken to become the monoliths that they are, and then there’s this girl who seems so at peace with herself and is constantly making quips, and it’s so foreign to him.

And she tells him that she’s in his world because she believes people are worth fighting for.
