Warnings; Suggestive, kisses, hickeys, bite marks, allusions to self harm (Dazai), sh scars (Dazai), prolly a little ooc
Description; BSD men and their physical attributes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/n; CAS lyric title!!! But I cannot bring myself to write reqs RN so............but guys i actually talked to a guy OMG never thought I'd have big enough balls but I got his ig ^w^
⑅Chuuya Nakahara⑅
Chuuyas arms are beautiful to you, they're not insanely buff and they're not thin, but at a perfect equilibrium. They're decorated with intricate tattoos and beautiful colors, and sometimes small dotted lines left by your teeth or maroon spots formed by your love and passion for each other. You loved feeling them wrap around your torso or waist with him leaning his head against your back, letting all the thoughts in his mind flow from his mouth like a waterfall. Other times, he'd hang his arms over your shoulders, letting you feel his biceps against the nape of your neck, ghosting over the baby hairs on your skin. His arms can carry you too, no matter your weight. If it'd make you feel better, he'd use his ability to help and reassure you that he won't drop you or let you get hurt.
“There we go, darlin', see, I told you I wouldn't let you get hurt. Literally not even the strongest gust of wind could knock me over with you right now, so quit worrying.”
⑅Osamu Dazai⑅
Dazai has such a gorgeous torso, bandaged or not. His skin is soft on contrast to the rough and volatile life he's always lead. The only patches of skin that aren't smooth are the ones that are littered with past scars, whether self inflicted or from other people. When Dazai trusts you enough, he'll ask you to help him take off his bandages before bed, letting your fingers brush over the rigid bumps and sharply inhaling while adjusting to your sweet touch in a new, naked place. He lets you kiss the scars and it helps him feel a little relaxed receiving your acceptance through soft kisses and affection instead of being pitied or shamed for his past. It's not like you encourage it, but you don't waste your breath on lecturing him on why he shouldn't have. It's in the past, so instead you'll offer your support for him now rather than dwelling on what you can't change.
“Mmnn...your lips are so soft on my back, baby...keep going, sweetheart, you know how much I love feeling your kisses on my skin...”
⑅Nikolai Gogol⑅
Nikolais thighs could resurrect a dead man, and you couldn't help but feel the same way every time you had your head between or against them. Occasionally your hands would hold them apart and squeeze or grope at them, feeling the firmness beneath the palm of your hand. The pressure from your fingertips leaves temporary pale spots with every pinch and your teeth and tongue leave red ones in your wake as you kiss, suck, and bite all over his thigh, and he loves it. Nikolai loves the harsh feeling of your teeth clamping around his skin, making him gasp and giggle in excitement with a hand on your neck encouraging you to continue. He's got a higher pain tolerance, so if you like to give lovebites, especially on thighs, he's your guy.
“Ah-! Oh, don't worry dove, it doesn't hurt. You know I have a good pain tolerance! You can keep going, hehe, I don't mind it.”
⑅Fyodor Dostoevsky⑅
Fyodors hands are thin and pale aside from some select spots with higher blood concentration. His nails are bitten down to the quick almost always and his fingers are bony and thin. They rest gently on your hips when you sit on his lap while he types or just relaxes with you, his thumbs rubbing circles into the fabric of either your top or bottoms. Sometimes they'll travel upwards, resting against your midsection and making you shiver from their low temperature. He'd laugh under his breath at your reaction and slide them further up, loving the idea that he has you squirming in his grasp. Otherwise, he'd keep a hand on your thigh, rubbing it out of habit modestly. In public he keeps his hands to himself, but in private his hands have a mind of their own.
“Are they that cold, Moya Lyubov? You'll get used to it eventually, unless you'd like to find your own way to warm my hands up?”
⑅Sigma⑅
Sigmas jawline is so defined and Everytime you look at it, an overwhelming urge to kiss along it bubbles up inside of you. Sigma doesn't dislike it, but he'll act like he does, always squirming and playfully grimacing. Eventually he'll give in though, holding your hand while you pepper soft pecks along his skin. He'll return them all over your cheeks and nose, tickling your skin and making you giggle. You can't help but watch Sigmas fingers trace over his jawline while he's deep in thought about this that and the other, admiring how perfect it looks on him.
“H-hey, knock it off, I'm in the middle of fillin' out papers! I said quit it- huff...fine, just a few though! You're really distracting, you know that?”
Bonus; ⑅ H.P. Lovecraft⑅
His hair is so long and luscious- how could you not want to run your fingers through it while your sleepy boyfriend lays his head in your lap? The upper half is smooth and straight while it changes into silky curls towards the bottom, though they're not the tightest and allow for your fingers to brush through them with minimal effort. He loves the feeling of your hands against his scalp, giving soft hums and groans of a relaxed pleasure. His face has his usual neutrality regardless of how nice it feels to get his head massaged by his lover. He frequently lets you pull it into a ponytail or put it into braids or whatever style you please. He lets you brush it, too, as long as you start at the bottom instead of ripping the brush through his hair.
“Mnn...that feels nice, dear...don't mind if I fall asleep on top of you, I can't help it.”
Tumblr media
A/n; I feel so bad for not getting to requests, something like this was the easiest thing to do this week though because I had mock trial comp right after school so i couldn't write anything from 8am-7;30 pm some nights and it was the end of the quarter so i had to focus more on school work.

kinktober day 7: temperature play
prompt list
word count: ~520
pairing: astarion/karlach
rating: explicit
Her engine may have been fixed, but her skin is still hotter than anyone Astarion's ever touched. Almost on the edge of too much, but he can't bring himself to stop. His hands roam up her back, down her sides, along her stomach. She's rough with scars in some places, and surprisingly soft in others. When she sighs through her nose, deepening the kiss between them, even her breath feels like a hot summer breeze.
She parts their lips briefly. It's dark, but he can hear the smile on Karlach's lips. "Warming up?"
"Hardly a surprise," Astarion sighs back. He wants to say something else, but he's too overcome by her warmth, her weight-- Gods, her scent. "I need to be inside you," he blurts out.
Karlach sighs excitedly. "Oh fuck yes. Please."
She drags Astarion back into a kiss. She untucks his shirt and oh, her hands sliding up his stomach…it's so much. Astarion shakes, moaning against her lips.
He's not usually this sensitive. The undead don't feel physical sensations - pain or pleasure - as strongly as the living do. But Karlach - her claws gently pressing into his belly, the heat of her palms leeching into his skin - he hasn't felt this much of anything in decades. He wants to drown in it.
The feeling of her hands sliding down into his waistband. The way her warm body contrasts with the cool night air as his cock springs free. Her sighs of delight when his own hands pull her trousers down, when his fingers part her folds.
Fuck. She's even hotter down there. He knows he's imagining it, but his fingers feel scalded. Her cunt is hot, wet, clenching around his middle finger. Her claws dig into his ass as she pants feverishly.
"Astarion…" Gods, his name has never sounded so heavenly. "Come on…I need you…don't make me beg, mate…"
If he had enough wit to spare, he'd tease her about calling him 'mate' during sex. But he's as desperate as she is, so all he can do is pull Karlach's hips down onto his cock. He doesn't slide home, though.
She gasps as his cockhead slips against her clit. Then she chuckles. "You're cold."
"No, you-- You're just…hot," he retorts, as much as he can when Karlach is rutting against him, trying to ride him. Then she finds the angle, and his cock catches her entrance, and she sinks down all at once.
"Fuck!" Astarion gasps.
Fuck, fuck, fuck. Too much feeling. She overloads his senses without even trying. No room for anything but the delicious, all-consuming heat burning through him.
Seconds pass with the two of them panting, shuddering, adjusting to each other. Dual sensations of being enveloped with heat and filled with cold. Equilibrium. Nonsense thoughts flickering through Astarion's mind as he tries to compose himself.
But just when he's coming to his senses, Karlach lifts her hips, and when she drops, Astarion loses himself in her.
Her moans resonate through the tent. Her hands join with his, holding him down. Her tail curls around his leg. Her body pins him to the floor, a comforting weight.
Her heat bleeds into him, and he can't get enough. He could almost feel alive again.

everybody talks about aquifers like theyre normal. but aquifers are weird. the ground is full of water. and apparently weve known about this shit since like forever.
Tumblr media
Artesian aquifer scheme:
Aquifer
Impervious strata
Infiltration area
Artesian well
Saturation level
Subartesian well
Artesian spring
An artesian well is a well that brings groundwater to the surface without pumping because it is under pressure within a body of rock and/or sediment known as an aquifer.[1] When trapped water in an aquifer is surrounded by layers of impermeable rock or clay, which apply positive pressure to the water, it is known as an artesian aquifer.[1] If a well were to be sunk into an artesian aquifer, water in the well-pipe would rise to a height corresponding to the point where hydrostatic equilibrium is reached.[1]
The first mechanically accurate explanation for artesian wells was given by Al-Biruni.
1000 years of knowing about the rocks...
Tumblr media
The Great Artesian Basin (GAB)[1] of Australia is the largest and deepest artesian basin in the world, extending over 1,700,000 square kilometres (660,000 sq mi). Measured water temperatures range from 30 to 100 °C (86 to 212 °F). The basin provides the only source of fresh water through much of inland Australia.[2]
Most recharge water enters the rock formations from relatively high ground near the eastern edge of the basin (in Queensland and New South Wales) and very gradually flows toward the south and west.[6] A much smaller amount enters along the western margin in arid central Australia, flowing to the south and east through the permeable sandstone, at a rate of one to five metres per year.
Discharge water eventually exits through a number of springs and seeps, mostly in the southern part of the basin. The age of the groundwater, determined by carbon-14 and chlorine-36 measurements combined with hydraulic modelling, ranges from several thousand years for the recharge areas in the north to nearly 2 million years in the south-western discharge zones.[7]
the earth provides....
also, ive mentioned qanats on here before but there are nearly 3000 year old underground aqueducts in iran. i mean. i guess its not that crazy like you just dig a tunnel and mining is super old. but still

what makes the weight worth it; writing for a single feeling
Author’s Note: to every writer (and reader) out there; thank you for all that you are, for all that you do, and for how much light and life you bring to the not-so-simple act of existing. 💞 (if you've ever wondered what writers often go through emotionally—especially in today's culture of consumerism and "content"—then read this)
Tumblr media
what makes the weight worth it; writing for a single feeling
Tomioka Giyuu x Reader
Word Count: ~900
CW: none
~faqs~
“You’re frowning again,” Giyuu murmurs, cool hands resting themselves on your hunched shoulders as he stands behind you.
“And?” you mutter, swivel chair creaking when you lean back into his touch, “It’s called a resting bitch face.”
Cracking a faint smile, he kneads at the tension in your muscles, “And your tea’s half finished,” pecking the top of your head while tacking on, “I’m quite familiar with your resting bitch face, and it’s distinct from your frowning face.”
“Shouldn’t you be more concerned if I ever do finish my tea?” you chuckle lightly, nose scrunching as you let out a long sigh, your desk feeling more and more foreboding as its clutter stretches out before you, “I’m just tired.”
“Tired of?” he prods gently, glancing at your browser to make sure he’s safe to reach over you and carefully close your laptop’s screen, “It’s only 11pm.”
“It’s stupid,” you mumble, feet cold as you spin yourself around, Giyuu’s lazy ponytail and concerned gaze a sight for sore eyes, “Let’s get in bed, m’kay?” waggling your eyebrows, “I forgot to wear socks.”
He grimaces at that, well acquainted with your gleeful usage of his thighs for warming your toes (and his poor stomach for warming your icicles fingers), but doesn’t protest, wordlessly slinging an arm around your waist. Your head flops onto his collarbone, pausing for a quiet moment of hazy dew and newly blossomed bluebells — familiar scents drifting from his freshly showered skin to your thoroughly worn, cotton sweatshirt.
Giyuu knows something’s up when you willingly brush your teeth, even allowing him to hand you a tiny cup of mouthwash, afterwards leading the way to bed, your tired face shining with night cream as you crawl under the blankets, promptly tucking the sheets beneath your chin while you fix a cute smile on him.
“Thanks for turning off the light,” you chime, giggling at his deadpan stare, quickly replaced by his silhouette, stark and limber as darkness and moonlight fills the room, decisive footsteps padding toward the bedframe.
You scoot over when he reaches the mattress, rolling into him as soon as he’s horizontal, eagerly cramming your toes into the crooks of his knees, grinning at his groan of resignation as he stiffens from the temperature difference.
“So,” Giyuu begins through gritted teeth, breathing shallowly (helplessly wishing you had better blood circulation), “What had you frowning?”
Your lips purse, exhaustion muddling your thoughts as you slowly process his question, fingertips like tiny pricks of ice as you tap them across his chest, goosebumps raising along his forearms even as he allows you to snuggle closer.
“I know I should be creative for the sake of being creative, for myself… but it’s hard when creativity also feels like something that exists for the sake of being shared. What is art in a vacuum? What’s the point of talking without anyone listening?”
He hums into your hair, finally relaxing as your limbs and his establish an equilibrium of warmth, catching your wrist and pressing a grounding kiss to your veins.
“It’s not that I feel uninspired, or that I don’t want to be creative, or that I’m burnt out from being creative… I’m just, wearing down from lack of use,” nose scrunching at your own analogy, “Not that I want to be used either,” rambling now, “But sometimes I feel like I’m offering samples of my heart at a grocery store, and everyone’s simply walking by. Nobody owes me a try, and hey, maybe you’re allergic to an ingredient, or ate lunch recently… I don’t know. I guess just, what’s the point in going to a restaurant if you only order a glass of water?”
A hollow silence passes as Giyuu waits to ensure you’re finished, his pulse steady and loud, throat constricting with a strange thickness. You exhale shakily, eyes glistening and bright as you peek up at him, the sharpness of his jaw made fuzzy by the weight of the night.
“I would hoard all of your samples,” he says roughly, voice scratchy with sleep, “Even if I was allergic to them, even if I was already stuffed.”
You snort, lungs expanding with emotion as you drawl, “You’re sooo romantic,” blinking confusedly when he places a delicate finger to your mouth, shushing you.
“Someone cares about your creativity, someone needs your creations,” he continues firmly, “Please keep creating them. I’m here, I can always be that someone, and I… I would like to help teach you that you can be that someone too. You can create for yourself, and listen to yourself, and cherish yourself. I know that isn’t really the problem, but… did I just make everything worse?”
Your expression contorts at Giyuu’s hesitation, endearment bursting in your ears as you make a fond, strangled noise, clinging somehow tighter to him, managing to squeeze a contented, surprised squeak from his drowsy body.
“I don’t think everything’s better,” you admit, “But thank you for loving me and my creative woes.”
“Of course,” he replies, cheeks noticeably pink despite the midnight hour, “And thank you for trusting me with your feelings.”
“No more, ‘kay?” you yawn into his armpit, “Dream time.”
“‘Kay,” Giyuu agrees, yawning in return, his whisper barely audible as unconsciousness looms on the edge of your blurring vision, “I hope I dream of you.”

Hi Laura!! In regard to the WIPs list, I want to ask about all of them!!!
But the ones that caught my attention more is the ballet x mafia, safety is key and omega Max pregnant
Would love to read more about those three, but if it is too much, feel free to only explain one of the 3 💞
Hi
Thank you so much for asking 💕
I have posted a little snippet of the Max pregnancy here :)
The ballet x mafia one is a fic that I have outlined and have spoken about a little on here. . It's omegaverse. Omega Charles is the only male omega in his ballet company and keeps getting passed up for the principal roles. That is until Alpha mafia boss Max brings his mother to the ballet and spots Charles in the background and instantly decides the omega should be in the spotlight. With Max's connections all around Monaco he is in the perfect position to make that happen.
Safety is key is a fic that I started over a year ago and then pulled it because I didn't have time to work on it. It's a dystopian fic and influenced by 1984 and a film called equilibrium. Drivers all live in a compound and take a drug each day to suppress emotions. They pledge their allegiance to 'Big Brother' who is the FIA. One day Charles misses a dose and suddenly starts to feel the real rush of racing for the first time!! I feel like I need to bring it back and finish it before it actually becomes a terrifying reality!!!
I have included a brief snippet below but it will need editing
Charles rarely needs the alarm to wake him anymore. His body is attuned to his daily routine and he wakes naturally a few minutes before the shrill noise rings out all high pitched and piercing through the air. It rings for exactly 30 seconds at 7am. Always 30 seconds. Always 7am. The early morning call provides each of the drivers who occupy the small apartment enough time to get showered and dressed before sitting down together for breakfast.
His wash bag is sat waiting on his nightstand along with his freshly laundered towel so he makes a grab for it and heads down the corridor to the communal shower area. Max and Carlos have already beaten him to it and the two men are both lathered up as they casually chat under the spray of the water.
Charles slips out of his pyjama shorts, half listening to his team mate discussing the intricacies of the new technical directive that is due to come into force in Spa. He decides not to join in the conversation seen as he has only planned out a few minutes for shower time and doesn’t want to get sidetracked. Thumbing over the activation pad he closes his eyes and lets the water soak him. The temperature is set to 37 degrees. The perfect temperature to wake you up without causing any shock to the nervous system.
As planned Charles keeps it brief before heading back to his room and leaving Carlos and Max deep in discussion. The deep growl of thunder rumbles in the distance. Outside the wind is picking up and an ocean of leaves swirls in spirals off the ground, a hue of orange and brown dancing about. So far it appears to be a dry storm. Charles checks the weather app on his FIA issued phone, no rain is predicted and the storm should clear up in time for qualifying apparently.
After slipping into his Ferrari t-shirt and plain black pants he still has 17 minutes until breakfast, more than enough time to fit in some stretches.  The instructional poster on his wall is surplus to requirements at this point, his body can complete the moves on auto pilot. There are five basic stretches to be completed at some point each day. When and where is left to each driver’s discretion. It is one of the very few decisions they need to make for themselves. Much of their time and actions are planned out to precision. It’s the cost to be paid for the honour of being a formal one driver. And it’s a cost Charles pays willingly. He’s been part of the FIA programme for so long that he can barely remember his time before entering the institution.
Charles has always found it easier to get his stretches out of the way before breakfast. As he presses his left arm across his chest and holds it in position with his right arm he recites the daily mantra.
“The FIA is all knowing. Their job is to protect. Safety is key. Feelings and free thought are dangerous.”
He repeats it ten times as required to do so. The words fall from his mouth seamlessly, each syllable ingrained in him after years of daily affirmations.
As he finishes the last repetition he pulls open his bedside drawer and reaches around for his vial of Prototype 2X. He manages to unscrew the cap just ask almighty clatter of lightning hits right outside his window. It sounds almost like an explosion. Charles’ doesn’t feel anything apart from the sound of vibrations infiltrating his ear drums. His body reacts though, the sudden intrusion of noise making him drop the vial that was clutched in his hand.
As the vial smashes open all the reflex training in the world isn’t enough for him to be able to scoop up the contents. He’s nothing more than a spectator as his emotion suppressant soaks into the wooden flooring. It’s the first time he’s ever done anything like this and it’s unbelievably bad timing seen as it’s his last vial until the monthly delivery tomorrow. He makes a mental note to call by FIA headquarters when he arrives at the track. A replacement dose is easy enough to obtain although there will be a mountain of paperwork to fill in. He will likely get points on his super licence for wasting a dosage but it’s not like he can hide the fact from anyone, he needs his daily injection, the consequence of not taking it is not worth considering.

Marine Life in Owari no Seraph
okay listen this is going to be a lot of rambling because im hype up on doing way too much college shit all day but i can't stop thinking about what the ecosystem within the oceans in OnS look like. because okay so in Chapter 43, Narumi brings up that the ocean is fucked up:
Tumblr media
That the oceans are acidic AND poisonous with monsters "even worse than horsemen" inside
whcih yoichi follows with:
Tumblr media
SO IT'S ACIDIC, POISONOUS, AND BLOOD RED WHICH IS SO . OKAY OKAY WE HAVE A LOT TO WORK WITH.
cause okay so something that is often talked about in ecology studies is the concept of resilience. which britannica kindly defines as "...the ability of an ecosystem to maintain its normal patterns of nutrient cycling and biomass production after being subjected to damage caused by an ecological disturbance." - BASICALLY entire ecosystems have varying levels of this shit. some things are extremely resilient- when external stressors are introduced those fuckers will not die out at all, and will usually dominate future populations even after the habitat has reached a relative state of equilibrium stress events. Some however of course have low as hell resilience and yeah theyre gonnabe the first to die out and REALLY REALLY struggle to come back.
anyways now that we know somewhat of how observed communities are going to react to shit like- fucking acidic poisonous water that has turned blood red - we can start to speculate what the HELLS in there . because i have no fucking faith in Kagami to actually show us whatever the hells in there.
SO MONSTERS YEAH? let's say that these "monsters" that are in the water are actually evolved marine life - since OnS apocalypse happens in 2012 and current timeline is in 2020 we can assume that no Crazy crazy evolution has occurred just yet (short-term evolution is something that Does happen- and incredibly fast in some species cases! because generation to generation survivability can be super fucking extreme and force shit like armor plating esp in some species of fish dependent on turbidity) BUT just little things. especially a likely shift toward red colorations in these bitches. i like to imagine that the monsters were just the super fucking resilient of the bunch and if theyre predatory to Anything that enters the water (HOW DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE MOSNTERS ANYWAYS IF THE WATER IS ACIDIC AND POISONOUS? WERE THERE EXPEDITIONS?) assuming that boats and things have got the shit beat out of them and those people on voyages dying horribly - we can assume these are big fuckers yeah? or just fucking nuts with acid poison brain enough to harm themselves to fuck up vessels.
I LIKE TO BELIEVE HOWEVER, that oceans are fucking FULL of jellies (jellyfish- trying to be known as just jelly or jellies these days since they aren't actually fish!) . CAUSE OKAY WE KNOW THAT LIKE. in current days where the oceans are CONSTANTLY invaded with stressors like pollutants, various contaminants from agriculture chemical runoff, global warming fucking up salinity and temperature in a lot of areas, and yadda yadaa yadda. and throuhg all of that - jelly populations are BOOMING!! they're literally super fucking resilient motherfuckers cause there's sooooo many of them soooo many types and they can adapt and evolve pretty fucking easy . and just god imagine big ass translucent red jellies with a whole new kind of potency to their stings (JUST WHAT WOULD POISON DO TO NEMATOCYSSTS??>?) that are capable of burning fucking holes through metal. oh my god it would be so cool. or just fucking anything resilient enough or maybe just fucking ANYTHING from super deep underwater that now has an increased survivability in higher water (ONLY due to color, theyre usually adapted to red perceived conditions because red is the last color to be absorbed by the water the deeper you go) and lord have you seen the guys down there? big scary teeth would look like monsters. sorry though my knowledge begins and ends at jellies.
um but i would just really like to know whats out there ... maybe............................... a little

Grains of Time: Chapter One
Word count: 1.3k
In a far corner of the cosmos, a planet filled with uncountably many grains of sand—the hourglass of the universe—waits for no one. It floats in an ocean of black, a lone beige speck amidst the ink of the page of outer space. Violent zephyrs drag across the desert landscape, bringing an entire history of dust with them. The ravaging winds seem to tear the planet in twain, and the terrain shifts, never staying the same.
Abstract, crimson formations of oxidized metals meld into the sand. Their original purpose has long since faded into obscurity. For all anyone had known, they have been here since antiquity. These inorganic corpses are as much a piece of the planet as the infinite sands themselves.
In the far distance, almost beyond the horizon, a behemoth of steel dominates the landscape. Its savage triangles stand out in a sea of gold. A single beacon of stasis among the entropic fields of sand.
Any hope of a surface civilization had long been abandoned, along with the world itself. There was only one. Amidst the oxidized metal and rustwork was a lone sentinel, a poorly built and barely functioning droid designated PT73.
It was almost noon. The savage star scorches the shifting sands, transforming unconstrained silica into crystalized quartz. Rust bakes deeper into the discarded iron. Useless and crumpled copper wiring ages a fair shade of green. Any living creature, had there been any, would rust away, leaving only a brittle husk. Despite the hellish temperatures, the world moves on. PT73 does not notice, its circuits unrelenting and its concentration unbroken.
The droid resides in a hollowed dune with walls made primarily of the very same crystal that this planet ever so generously produces. A mix of hardened sand and reddened iron alloys compose the rest. The dunes protect it well, and the flaming world outside is of little concern here. A fortunate position, one well-suited to the needs of a tinkerer.
Deeper inside, a slate grey switchboard blinks scarlet, the only source of light in the sandstone bunker. It softly hums and whirs, a sublime sound in stark contrast to the extinguishing intensity of the desert winds. It was a wonder how anything could still function in this place. An interface gleams with green numbers—70GHz, 200GHz—frequencies. The terminal seems to whisper the secrets of the universe to anyone who dares listen.
PT73 holds up a splintered terracotta tablet; it is only a small piece of a larger, missing mural. It had become a passion project to investigate the remnants of the past. Civilizations were a thing of the past here. How distant, it could not be known. A single sandstorm is all it takes to erase any trace of that which is known. It seemed almost an insurmountable task to uncover these mysteries, but there wasn’t much else to do.
Surely the planet couldn’t have always been like this? It is so evidenced by the fragments of ruined construction, that there was at one time something here. Something. Now there is only nothing.
Replacing the tablet on its pedestal, PT73 has found its purpose.
The sieging winds outside languish. Burning embers fall silently to the sand, signaling a temporary retreat of the weather. A world-shattering quake blares in every frequency, threatening to rip the planet apart, and nearby, a thick wrought-iron case soars down from the sky, tumbling for a few persistent meters before coming to equilibrium. Its rusted door screeches open, falling from its hinges. An empty compartment.
~~~
Everything is just an empty compartment. Unfathomable distances separate anything of significance. Even the very grains of sand which comprise the planet are empty. Electrons have never once met a nucleus. The universe seems to depend fundamentally on the interactions of two strangers.
~~~
Lights flicker on a familiar mechanism on the other side of the universe. A current of static flows through a single channel and fluorescent orange nixie tubes display an array of numbers like a waterfall of information. Steel pans clamber to the ground in an adjacent room, and an electric voice can be heard muttering.
It speaks in much the same way that stones do not.
Thousands of books littered the walls and floor. Whatever this entity was, it was quite familiar with inquiry.
Inundated by a ceaseless static, it concerns itself with solutions. A radio tower in the distance, no doubt long dead, might hold a viable transmitter.
It pushed aside some metal scraps—working components for the nearby machinery—and set out towards the towering steelwork preserved by the absence of time.
Outside, the air is frozen solid. It chokes the terrain in thick sheets of suspended ice. A world forever unchanging, unvisited by time. It waits patiently for something, something that will never come.
Everything that once was is everything that will be. The constructions of an extinct civilization assault the pure white backdrop, unaltered from their time of prosperity. Thousands of polychromatic parallelograms serve as a constant reminder of the past. At such extreme distances, one could blissfully pretend as if life still thrived. The vibrance of it all was certainly convincing.
It was like gazing into the sky, looking thousands, if not millions of years into the past with every insignificant dot. A cosmic graveyard.
There is no star here. The planet drifts without orbit, a mysterious interloper disregarding other lifeforms. Explanations are the quandary of society, while objects of this size dabble in uncertainty.
And though uncertain of what might lie ahead, the entity set out, drifting between crowds of people frozen in time, not so unlike the planet it inhabits.
~~~
The container’s purpose unclear, PT73 pulled it along back to the only permanent location on the planet, and lazily pushed it into an unoccupied corner of the bunker. Its rust-coated door remained open, revealing only an infinite emptiness within.
The droid made to retreat outside—discovery awaits—but a strong gust from outside reminded it of the harsh reality that awaits. Ever still, PT73’s desire would not falter, and these ceaseless storms cannot extinguish its hope for this planet.
Preparing to wait out the storm, it turned to face its collections again, and that was when it noticed—there, beside the meaningless container, was an unfamiliar dark and metallic sphere.
PT73 is exceptionally aware of all of its artifacts, as it keeps a strict record of them all, yet this object was nowhere to be found in its lists. Undeterred, it approached the curious ball, holding fast in its stride until a sudden click reverberated off the slate walls. The droid paused. Another click, followed by a rotary sort of sound, coincident with a small slot appearing on the sphere. A lanky, black rod appeared from the slot and indeed on the opposite side too. The appendages intended to rotate towards the ground and extended, lifting the being a decent radius. It made one last noise, a floaty beep, and then seemingly turned to face PT73. The droid only backed away, having never seen another entity in all its centuries of roaming. A pair of amber lights lit up, almost like eyes seeing for their first moment after several lifetimes, and it let out another singular beep. Hesitant to approach, PT73 produced its own noise in response, a kind of question to the entity, in order to gauge its understanding, and ball seemed to nod, transmitting a string which could only be its own name.
In the next few rotations of the planet, PT73 learned much about the ball’s origin—it had fallen from an unmanned freighter which crashed into this planet, and on board was a wide assortment of nonnative metals and alloys which could aid in getting off this planet. Purpose tugged at every wire in PT73’s chassis, and thus it prepared to embark on a long, long journey. It placed the alien droid into a steelen backpack, and it thereafter poked a round head out the top, its orange eyes beaming with the prospect of adventure.
It all started with a beer and a mood.
Not a regular beer, mind you. A lukewarm, half flattened kind of beer you sip not because you want to, but because it’s there and so are you. I was walking through the back alleys of my neighborhood, where the graffiti is philosophical and the trash bins smell like the past. I had no destination. That night I was aimless, shapeless, mildly fermenting inside and ripe for an existential unraveling.
Then I saw it.
Taped unevenly to a lamp post, yellowing at the corners, was an ad. No branding, no number to call. Just a picture of a large, vaguely rectangular machine and a single word beneath it, bold and reverent:
WARMPUMPE
That’s it. No slogan, no fine print. Just WARMPUMPE, looming like an answer to a question I hadn’t yet asked. I stood there for a minute, beer in hand, staring. Something deep inside me shifted, like a hinge that’d rusted shut for years finally groaned open.
That’s when the idea hit me. What if I became a warmpumpe? Not in the metaphorical, ted talk sense. I mean literally. Transformation. Metamorphosis. One minute squishy human. Next minute sleek humming device dedicated to thermodynamic equilibrium. The anti Gregor Samsa arc. He woke up à bug and freaked out; I wanted to wake up a heating-cooling unit and finally know peace.
Of course, there were logistical issues. First of all, I didn’t actually know what a warmpumpe was. I had a vague sense - a sort of mystical heat creature? A benevolent winter deity with a compressor? The word itself sounded like something you’d yell in à Bearlin techno club. But I figured the summer version of a warmpumpe had to be some kind of a/c unit, right? Cool cousin. Same vibe.
So I decided to go find one. I didn’t walk into an appliance store like a lunatic and scream ‘Make me like you!’ (tho I came close). Instead I took a subtler approach: I booked a consultation. I googled ‘air conditioning metamorphosis” and clicked the first link that didn’t look like a phishing scheme. Two days later I was sitting across from a soft spoken man named Lars in a showroom full of humming fans and blinking thermostats.
‘I’m not sure I understand’, he said, politely sipping his coffee. ‘You want to… become a warmpumpe?’
‘Not permanently’, I clarified. ‘Just for a while. Like a sabbatical. From being a person.’
He nodded, like this was the fourth weirdest thing he’d heard that week. ‘And may I ask why?’
I took a breath. ‘Becauee I’m tired of sweating through the summer. Not just physically. Existentially. I want to regulate things. Even out the temperature. Stop fluctuating. You know? Be useful. Still. Hum in the corner and be loved for it’
He looked around the showroom, as if asking the appliances for permission. Then he leaned in. ‘There is…a protocol’, he whispered.
My heart jumped.
He handed me a pamphlet with the title ‘Transitional HVAC states and you’ and a form labeled Voluntary Appliance Integration. No medical questions. Just a checkbox asking if I was ‘physically aligned with the principles of ambient stability’.
I checked yes.
The procedure was scheduled for the following Tuesday. They asked me to fast for 12 hours and bring a favorite blanket (for emotional calibration). I arrived slightly hungover and overly sincere, ready to trade flesh for freon.
And guess what? It worked!
Not fully. My body didn’t disappear. But something fundamental shifted. That night I stood in the corner of my flat, arms slightly out, humming softly. I didn’t need to speak. I was just… present. Pushing warmth out when needed. Pulling cool in when the mood demanded. I was my own climate. À warmpumpe in spirit, if not in casing.
Sure, I still pay rent. Still have feelings. Still forget to buy toilet paper. But on muggy days, when the air is thick and nobody knows what to do with themselves, I feel it deep inside me. That steady thrum. The humming of a compressor coil. The quiet satisfaction of being finally regulated.
And that, my friends, is the opposite of Kafka. That is becoming!
Full Body Checkup During Seasonal Change: A Smart Move
Tumblr media
Seasonal changes bring with them a shift not just in temperature, but also in the way our body functions. Whether it's the scorching heat of summer, the chill of winter, or the moisture of monsoon, each season comes with unique health challenges. From allergies and infections to low immunity and fatigue, the body often struggles to adapt. That’s why opting for a full body checkup during seasonal change is more than just a wise decision—it’s a smart preventive healthcare practice.
Understanding the Impact of Seasonal Change on Health
Each seasonal shift affects the body differently. In winter, respiratory problems become more frequent, while summers often bring dehydration, heatstroke, and skin issues. The monsoon season, on the other hand, can trigger waterborne diseases and fungal infections. The immune system also tends to weaken during transitions between seasons, making the body more susceptible to infections.
A full body checkup serves as a crucial tool to detect hidden or developing health issues before they manifest into more serious problems. It helps you stay proactive about your well-being and reduces the risk of seasonal ailments taking a toll on your health.
Why a Full Body Checkup is Crucial During Seasonal Transitions
Early Detection of Seasonal Illnesses: Cold, flu, viral infections, and allergies are common during seasonal shifts. A full body checkup helps identify early signs of these issues, allowing timely intervention and reducing the chances of complications.
Immune System Monitoring: As seasons change, the immune system may weaken. A full body checkup can assess your white blood cell count and other immunity markers to determine if your body is equipped to fight off seasonal pathogens.
Managing Chronic Conditions: Seasonal changes can aggravate chronic diseases like asthma, arthritis, and hypertension. Regular full body checkups ensure these conditions are under control and help in adjusting medications or lifestyle accordingly.
Hormonal and Nutritional Balance: Hormones and nutrients fluctuate with seasonal changes. A full body checkup reveals any deficiencies or imbalances, enabling targeted dietary or therapeutic action to restore equilibrium.
Preventive Health Strategy: Prevention is always better than cure. A full body checkup acts as a safeguard, alerting you about potential health concerns before symptoms appear.
What Does a Full Body Checkup Typically Include?
A comprehensive full body checkup covers a wide range of parameters to evaluate your overall health status. Common tests include:
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Blood Sugar Levels (Fasting and Postprandial)
Lipid Profile
Liver and Kidney Function Tests
Thyroid Profile
Vitamin D and B12 Levels
Urine Routine Analysis
ECG and Chest X-ray
BMI and Blood Pressure Monitoring
These tests together offer a holistic view of how well your body is coping with the changing environment and where attention is needed.
Who Should Consider a Full Body Checkup During Seasonal Change?
While everyone can benefit from a full body checkup, certain groups are more vulnerable during seasonal transitions:
Elderly Individuals: Age-related immunity decline makes older adults more prone to seasonal illnesses.
Children: Growing bodies need close monitoring, especially during season change when viral outbreaks are common.
People with Chronic Illnesses: Individuals managing conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or asthma need regular health tracking.
Frequent Travelers: Moving across regions with varying climates exposes the body to new pathogens and allergens.
Benefits Beyond Disease Detection
A full body checkup isn’t just about identifying illnesses; it’s about understanding your body better. It empowers you with information to make lifestyle adjustments—like changing your diet, sleep patterns, or exercise routines—to match seasonal needs. Regular checkups also build a continuous health record, making it easier for doctors to detect patterns and provide personalized care.
Moreover, scheduling a full body checkup during seasonal changes helps align your health goals with nature’s rhythm. It encourages timely health evaluations at least four times a year, which can significantly improve long-term wellness outcomes.
The Smart Move: Plan Ahead
Many people wait for symptoms to appear before taking medical action. But seasonal changes don’t wait to affect your health. Being proactive with a full body checkup ensures you're one step ahead of potential problems. It saves time, money, and the physical toll of falling ill unexpectedly.
A planned full body checkup also means less stress—knowing your health is under surveillance provides mental peace and the confidence to embrace each season with vitality.
Final Thoughts
Seasonal changes are inevitable, but their impact on your health doesn’t have to be. A full body checkup acts like a seasonal shield, helping you transition smoothly and stay ahead of common health disruptions. With regular assessments, you gain control over your well-being, reduce healthcare costs in the long run, and foster a proactive health culture for yourself and your family.
Investing in a full body checkup during every seasonal change is not just smart—it’s essential for a healthier, more balanced life.
Understanding Structural Engineering: The Backbone of Modern Construction
Structural engineering plays a vital role in shaping the world we live in. From towering skyscrapers and sprawling bridges to secure residential homes and industrial complexes, the integrity of every built environment depends on the precision and foresight of structural engineering. While often working behind the scenes, structural engineers are responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and durability of virtually every structure around us. Without their expertise, the modern world as we know it wouldn’t stand—literally.
The Foundation of Structural Engineering
At its core, structural engineering is a specialized branch of civil engineering concerned with the analysis and design of structures that support or resist loads. This discipline combines principles of physics, mathematics, and materials science to evaluate how forces like weight, pressure, temperature, and natural disasters affect buildings and other structures.
Structural engineers must design structures to withstand these forces safely and economically. This means calculating load paths, evaluating materials, and working within architectural and code constraints. Structural engineering isn’t just about making things stand up—it’s about making them stand up safely, efficiently, and sustainably.
Key Responsibilities of a Structural Engineer
The scope of work for structural engineers extends far beyond design. Their responsibilities begin at the earliest stages of a project and often continue through construction and even post-construction inspections. Common tasks include:
Analyzing Structural Systems: Engineers evaluate how a structure will behave under various conditions. They consider dead loads (the weight of the structure itself), live loads (occupants, furniture, vehicles), and environmental loads (wind, earthquakes, snow, and temperature changes).
Selecting Building Materials: Choosing the right materials is critical. Concrete, steel, wood, masonry, and composites each have distinct properties. Structural engineers must select materials that balance strength, weight, cost, and environmental impact.
Designing Load-Bearing Elements: From beams and columns to slabs and foundations, structural engineering determines the size and placement of components that carry loads and ensure stability.
Ensuring Code Compliance: Structures must adhere to local, national, and sometimes international codes. These regulations address everything from seismic resistance to fire safety and load-bearing capacities.
Collaborating With Other Professionals: Structural engineering is rarely a solo act. Engineers work closely with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, contractors, and inspectors to bring a project to life.
Principles That Guide Structural Engineering
Every structure is a balancing act of forces. Structural engineering relies on several fundamental principles to ensure equilibrium, durability, and efficiency:
Load Path Concept: Every force exerted on a structure must be transmitted through a clear path to the ground. Structural engineers design this path to avoid any weak points.
Strength and Stability: A structure must be strong enough to carry loads without collapsing and stable enough to resist tipping, sliding, or buckling.
Ductility and Redundancy: Structures must have the ability to absorb energy and undergo deformation without failure. Redundancy ensures that if one component fails, others can take up the load, preventing catastrophic collapse.
Serviceability: A structure should not only be safe but also usable. Excessive vibrations, deflections, or cracking—even if not life-threatening—can compromise the comfort and function of a building.
Applications of Structural Engineering
The field of structural engineering encompasses a broad range of applications, from everyday infrastructure to some of the most complex projects in the world. Some primary areas include:
Buildings: Residential, commercial, and high-rise buildings all depend on structural engineering to stand firm against gravity, weather, and human use. Engineers consider everything from soil conditions to architectural vision.
Bridges: Designing bridges requires a deep understanding of loads, spans, supports, and environmental conditions. Suspension, cable-stayed, and arch bridges are just a few types engineered with distinct principles.
Towers and Skyscrapers: These structures demand precise design to resist wind forces, seismic activity, and weight distribution over great heights.
Industrial Facilities: Warehouses, factories, and plants require structural systems capable of supporting heavy machinery, dynamic loads, and wide open spans.
Transportation Infrastructure: Structural engineering is behind tunnels, overpasses, and transit stations that ensure safe and efficient transportation networks.
Modern Innovations in Structural Engineering
As the world continues to evolve, so too does the field of structural engineering. Technology, sustainability, and resilience are pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
Building Information Modeling (BIM): BIM allows engineers to create 3D models of structures that integrate architectural and engineering data. This promotes coordination, reduces errors, and improves project outcomes.
Advanced Materials: New materials such as carbon fiber-reinforced polymers, self-healing concrete, and high-performance steel are changing how structures are built and maintained.
Sustainable Design: Structural engineering now places a strong emphasis on green building practices. Engineers aim to reduce material waste, use recycled content, and design for energy efficiency and longevity.
Seismic and Disaster Resilience: In areas prone to natural disasters, structural engineers design buildings to absorb seismic energy, resist flooding, and withstand hurricanes. These life-saving advancements are critical for public safety.
Modular and Prefabricated Construction: Prefabrication and modular building components are gaining popularity for their speed and precision. Structural engineers must ensure these elements can be safely assembled on-site and perform as intended.
Challenges Facing Structural Engineering Today
As the demands on infrastructure grow and the need for sustainability intensifies, structural engineering faces several pressing challenges:
Aging Infrastructure: Many bridges, buildings, and public works are reaching or exceeding their expected lifespan. Structural engineers must inspect, retrofit, or replace aging systems while minimizing disruption and cost.
Urbanization: Rapid population growth in urban areas requires innovative structural solutions to maximize space and improve resilience against environmental stressors.
Climate Change: As climate patterns shift, engineers must account for rising sea levels, stronger storms, and increased temperature extremes in their designs.
Material Shortages and Cost Volatility: Global supply chain disruptions can affect material availability and prices, pushing engineers to be flexible and resourceful in their planning.
Structural Engineering and Safety
Above all else, structural engineering is about ensuring safety. Every calculation, drawing, and test revolves around the goal of protecting human life and property. Tragedies caused by structural failure—such as building collapses or bridge failures—underscore the importance of this discipline.
To mitigate risks, structural engineers undergo rigorous training and licensure. They adhere to codes, conduct peer reviews, and often rely on third-party testing. Many also continue their education to stay updated on the latest research and practices.
Conclusion: The Enduring Importance of Structural Engineering
Structural engineering is the unseen force that holds our cities, homes, and infrastructure together. Its blend of science, creativity, and precision transforms ideas into reality, enabling us to live, work, and move through safe, efficient spaces. From the foundations beneath our feet to the skylines above, structural engineering supports modern life in every sense.
Whether you’re planning a new construction project, upgrading an existing building, or simply appreciating the ingenuity of the built environment around you, remember that structural engineering is what makes it all possible. Its contribution is not only foundational but essential for progress, innovation, and safety.
What is a Negative Feedback Loop? A Deep Dive into the Science of Balance and Stability
Tumblr media
In the complex and ever-changing world of biology, engineering, environmental science, and even economics, one concept stands out as a key mechanism for maintaining balance and preventing chaos: the negative feedback loop. Though it may sound like a technical term, negative feedback loops are all around us—and even within us—working constantly to keep systems stable and efficient.
This blog explores what a negative feedback loop is, how it works, and why it’s essential for everything from bodily functions to global ecosystems.
What Is a Negative Feedback Loop?
A negative feedback loop is a self-regulating process that responds to changes in a system by initiating corrective actions that counteract or negate those changes. This response keeps the system operating within a defined, stable range or equilibrium.
In simpler terms, it’s the body’s or a system’s way of saying: “Something’s off—let’s fix it.”
For example, if your body temperature rises above normal, your body triggers mechanisms to cool down, such as sweating. Once the temperature normalizes, the corrective action stops. This loop ensures that the system doesn't move too far in one direction.
Key Components of a Negative Feedback Loop
To understand how a negative feedback loop functions, let’s break it down into its primary components:
Stimulus – A change or disturbance in the system.
Sensor (or Receptor) – Detects the change.
Control Center – Evaluates the information and determines a response.
Effector – Carries out the response to bring the system back to normal.
Response – The actual change that counteracts the original stimulus.
This sequence repeats continuously, monitoring for new deviations and making adjustments as necessary.
Negative vs. Positive Feedback
To clarify, negative feedback is not "bad," just as positive feedback is not inherently "good." The difference lies in the direction of the response:
Negative feedback works to reverse or reduce the original change. It promotes stability.
Positive feedback works to amplify the change. It pushes the system further in the same direction, often toward a specific goal.
A classic example of positive feedback is childbirth, where contractions trigger the release of oxytocin, which increases contractions until birth occurs. Unlike negative feedback, this process doesn’t aim for stability—it aims for completion.
Biological Examples of Negative Feedback Loops
Negative feedback loops are central to homeostasis, the process that maintains internal stability in organisms. Let’s look at some of the most critical biological examples.
1. Thermoregulation (Body Temperature Control)
The human body maintains an internal temperature around 98.6°F (37°C). When you get too hot, receptors in your skin and brain detect the rise in temperature. The hypothalamus (control center) sends signals to effectors like sweat glands and blood vessels. Sweat cools the body through evaporation, and dilated blood vessels help release heat. Once the body cools, the loop stops.
When you’re too cold, the same loop works in reverse—shivering generates heat, and blood vessels constrict to preserve warmth.
2. Blood Glucose Regulation
When you eat, glucose levels in your blood rise. The pancreas detects this and releases insulin, which helps cells absorb glucose. As glucose is removed from the blood, levels return to normal. If glucose levels fall too low, the pancreas releases glucagon, which prompts the liver to release stored glucose.
This loop prevents dangerous spikes or drops in blood sugar, maintaining metabolic balance.
3. Blood Pressure Control
Baroreceptors in blood vessels detect changes in blood pressure. If pressure is too high, the brain signals the heart to slow down and relaxes blood vessels. If it’s too low, it signals the heart to beat faster and constricts vessels. These rapid adjustments ensure adequate blood flow without causing strain on the circulatory system.
Negative Feedback Loops in Engineering and Technology
Negative feedback is also a cornerstone of modern engineering systems. It helps regulate devices, reduce errors, and maintain stability.
1. Thermostats and Temperature Control
A thermostat is a classic example. It senses room temperature and compares it to the desired setting. If the room is too cold, it turns on the heater. Once the temperature reaches the set point, the heater shuts off. This loop repeats as needed, maintaining a comfortable environment.
2. Audio Systems
In microphones and speakers, negative feedback reduces distortion. Part of the output signal is fed back in reverse to the input, canceling out noise or interference. This ensures the output is smooth and clear.
3. Cruise Control in Vehicles
Cars with cruise control maintain a constant speed using negative feedback. If the vehicle slows down (e.g., when going uphill), the system detects the change and increases engine output. When the desired speed is restored, it reduces power. This loop ensures consistent speed with minimal driver input.
Environmental and Ecological Feedback Loops
In ecosystems, negative feedback loops regulate populations, resources, and energy flow, preventing overuse or collapse.
1. Predator-Prey Relationships
When prey populations increase, predator numbers also rise due to abundant food. More predators then reduce prey numbers. As food becomes scarce, predator populations decline, allowing prey to rebound. This dynamic helps maintain ecological balance.
2. Climate Regulation
Earth’s climate system contains many negative feedback loops. For example, increased cloud cover due to higher evaporation can reflect more sunlight and cool the planet, offsetting temperature rises. These natural checks are essential for long-term environmental stability—though they can be overwhelmed by rapid, human-induced changes.
Negative Feedback in Economics and Psychology
Negative feedback also applies to human behavior, economics, and societal systems.
1. Economic Markets
In economics, a rise in product prices often leads to reduced demand. Lower demand then causes prices to drop, which stabilizes the market. This is a form of self-correction.
2. Emotional Regulation
In psychology, coping mechanisms work like feedback loops. If stress levels rise, techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, or sleep help reduce the response. These actions are feedback mechanisms that help maintain emotional balance.
Why Negative Feedback Loops Matter
1. They Maintain Stability
At the core, negative feedback loops keep systems from spiraling out of control. Whether it's your blood pressure or a machine's temperature, they ensure that functions stay within safe, effective boundaries.
2. They Prevent Resource Waste
By turning off once the desired outcome is reached, negative feedback loops prevent energy or resources from being overused—making systems more efficient.
3. They Enable Adaptation
Negative feedback doesn't resist change—it manages it. These loops help systems adjust and recover from disturbances without losing their overall function.
Conclusion
A negative feedback loop is a powerful, natural mechanism that governs how living organisms, machines, and ecosystems stay balanced and responsive in the face of change. By detecting deviations from a set point and initiating counteractions, these loops allow systems to self-correct, conserve energy, and maintain long-term stability.
From regulating your heartbeat to keeping your thermostat in check, negative feedback is an essential force behind order in an otherwise chaotic world. Understanding it not only deepens our appreciation of how life works but also helps us design better tools, policies, and strategies in a wide range of fields—from healthcare to climate science.
In a world full of change, negative feedback loops remind us that resilience lies not in avoiding change but in mastering how we respond to it.
History and Principles of Ayurveda
Ayurveda, often referred to as the "Science of Life," is one of the world’s oldest systems of natural healing, originating in India over 5,000 years ago. Its roots can be traced back to the ancient Vedic texts, where it was first documented as a comprehensive approach to health and wellness. Unlike modern medicine, which primarily focuses on treating symptoms, Ayurveda emphasizes the prevention of illness through lifestyle adjustments, natural therapies, and a deep understanding of the body's innate balance.
At the heart of Ayurveda are three fundamental energies known as doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas represent the five elements—space, air, fire, water, and earth—and govern various physiological and psychological processes in the body.
Vata (Air and Space): Controls movement, breathing, and circulation. Imbalances can lead to anxiety, dryness, and digestive issues.
Pitta (Fire and Water): Manages metabolism, digestion, and body temperature. Disruptions may cause inflammation, anger, and skin problems.
Kapha (Earth and Water): Regulates growth, immunity, and stability. Imbalances often result in lethargy, congestion, and weight gain.
Ayurveda believes that true well-being is achieved by maintaining harmony among these three doshas. When balanced, they support optimal health; when imbalanced, they lead to disease. At Heal Hub Pulse, we harness these timeless principles to restore equilibrium and promote natural healing through authentic Ayurveda treatment in India.
#1310 What is wind chill?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is wind chill? Wind chill is where the wind reduces the air temperature, making it feel much colder than it actually is. Wind chill can be deadly if you are not wearing the right clothing. The temperature for the day that you say in the newspaper or on the weather forecast of the TV news in the morning is the temperature of the air. The air temperature is measured at a standard height above sea level. Temperature is a measure of how much kinetic energy the gas molecules in the air are holding. Heat is a form of energy and the more heat something has, the more its molecules will move. When molecules move they have kinetic energy and this is what the air thermometer is measuring. If the weather forecast says 15 ℃, you might leave your house in a light jacket. However, the wind chill can vastly change the way the temperature feels, but it doesn’t change the actual temperature in the air.   If the outside temperature is 15 ℃ it doesn’t feel warm because it is lower than our body temperature. Our bodies constantly produce heat, which we lose through our skin to the air. This is the second law of thermodynamics. Energy will always move from a place of high energy to a place of low energy. To keep the energy in the place of high energy requires energy and to send energy backwards requires energy. Energy systems will always equalize. Batteries will always lose their charge and a hot or cold drink will always become the same temperature as the room. Unless you add energy to a system, this is what will happen. So, your body is hotter than 15 ℃ and thermal energy will move from your body into the surrounding air. If the air temperature is hotter, you won’t lose heat and if the air temperature is hotter than body temperature, heat will move into your body. The wind can affect this. The wind can make the temperature feel cooler in two ways. The first way is by moving the molecules of air that are next to your skin. When heat is transferred from your body to the surrounding air, it continues until the heat is equalized. The bigger the difference in temperature between your body and the surrounding air, the more heat you will lose. If there is no wind, the molecules that are closest to your skin will heat up and reach an equilibrium with your body. Once this happens, the heat transfer will slow down or stop. When there is a wind, the molecules that are next to your skin are blown away by more molecules coming in, and there is a constant replenishment of cooler molecules. When there is a wind, the air around your body can’t reach equilibrium and you constantly lose heat. The second way is by increasing the number of molecules. An individual molecule can only absorb so much heat energy. To absorb more heat energy, you need more molecules. Wind doesn’t only move the molecules that are next to the skin, it brings in more molecules, increasing the amount of energy that can be removed. Both of these things make wind feel cold and cause the wind chill. If we are not prepared for it, wind chill can be fatal. When there is a strong wind and you have exposed skin, or thin clothes, you can lose body heat very quickly. If our core temperature drops by a couple of degrees, we will develop hypothermia, which, if not treated, will be fatal. However, sometimes we want the wind chill factor. When it is very hot, we use fans to make a wind chill. If the temperature is hot and we can’t lose heat to he air, we start to sweat. The water evaporates and takes heat energy away from our bodies with it. However, the air around our bodies can quickly become saturated with water and unable to take any more. Once that happens, we can’t cool down and it is why hot and humid places are so difficult to live in. When we use a fan, it circulates the air and pushes the hot saturated air molecules away from our skin, bringing in fresh molecules that can absorb more water and heat energy. This is wind chill, but the good kind. And this is what I learned today. - #863 How does chilling a patient after cardiac arrest work? - #872 Why does dry ice fog sink? - #649 How much wind does a wind turbine need? - #691 What causes a heat wave? - #707 Why are bridges designed to move? Tumblr media
Parasite control is an important component of present day lifestyle that typically goes unnoticed up until a trouble arises. It plays a crucial function in maintaining the health and wellness, safety and security, and also well-being of both people and also the atmosphere. This short article delves into why bug control is crucial and also the different main reasons it must certainly not be ignored.
Protecting Health as well as Care
Among the main explanations for Oviedo pest control is actually guarding public health. Bugs like mice, pests, as well as soars can easily bring a multitude of conditions that may be transmitted to humans. For instance, rodents are known angles of ailments such as leptospirosis as well as hantavirus, while bugs may transmit malaria as well as dengue high temperature. Normal insect control actions help prevent the spread of these illnesses, making certain the safety and security of communities.
Avoiding Allergic Reactions as well as Breathing Problems
Lots of bugs, including roaches and allergen, produce allergens that may set off allergic reactions and exacerbate breathing issues like asthma. Efficient pest control Oviedo helps in reducing the existence of these allergens, improving inside sky premium and total wellness.
Safeguarding Food Items Assets
Insects can present a considerable hazard to food production and storage. In farming settings, they may damage crops, triggering food shortage as well as economical losses. In properties and also restaurants, bugs like cupboard moths as well as mice may infect food items supplies, making them hazardous for intake. Pest control measures shield meals resources and ensure that they continue to be available as well as safe.
Maintaining Residential Or Commercial Property and Establishments
Pest control is actually essential in achieving sustainable horticulture through reducing the demand for chemical pesticides and ensuring healthier environments.
In conclusion, pest control is actually important for shielding human health, ensuring food items protection, protecting home, and also sustaining ecological equilibrium. It is actually a complex effort that incorporates several strategies, from safety nets to the accountable use pesticides. Recognizing the value of parasite control as well as taking positive measures to address bug problems may trigger more secure, healthier, as well as much more relaxed living and also workplace for every person.
I just realized I've never actually explained the titles for my state of matter changes fic and uh. I think I want to. so here it is! obviously this is long as hell because I did shit like "entropy calculations" when entropy is a concept I can barely grasp myself sometimes as someone who is not a physics master.
Recourse Pathways- easiest one to understand, obviously. its the two of them having the pathway (going back) to fix their mistakes
Radio Wave Interferences- in physics, interferences are '"the combination of two or more electromagnetic waveforms to form a resultant wave in which the displacement is either reinforced or canceled." Radio waves because those waves are used extensively for communications
Activation Energy- to make sure a chemical reaction can begin, there is a certain amount of energy that must be input, even if a reaction is exothermic in nature. This is called activation energy. The changing of the grey pipes was that initial required energy input, along with Jayvik and Silco and Vander's existence here.
Entropy Calculations- Entropy is a lotta things, especially in physics, but, in regards to this fic series, I was primarily thinking about how it relates to disorder. A specific way to look at entropy is that it measures the amount of possible states of a system- as heat increases, as something becomes a liquid then a gas, entropy increases as there’s more ways for the molecule to be oriented/arranged. mel, on a metaphorical level, does this- she figures out what every possible outcome from her moves are. Loose connection but I thought about chaos and disorder on a physics level vs how Mel, in arcane, is all about deftly wielding control
Sublimation- finally, the state of matter changes! Sublimation is the change from a solid to gas state, something far more unlikely that evaporation. A common example is dry ice. The interaction w/silco vander has right in this fic is basically a major tension point with lots of "heat," so i did a state of matter that is uncommon and involves solid to gas.
Fractional Distillation- this one makes the most sense out of all of them, frankly. When you have a mixture of substances, if they have seperate boiling points, you can use fractional distillation to remove the ones with lower boiling points. as silco is cleaning house, he is removing the barons that are weaker.
Thermal Equilibrium- when the thermal energy of two objects are the same. To me, it was the idea of exchange/the way the tensions of the two cities are simmering down. even though piltover is nowhere close to being equal with zaun, that exchange is beginning, and I wanted to bring in heat again because I like the word thermal
Catalysts- I explained this in the notes of the fic lol. Catalysts, when doing equations, speed up reactions but also are things put into an equation and (often) remade at the end to continue that cycle. Silco and vander began the reaction of independent zaun as a duo, they're being reborn as a duo at the end of it.
Specific Heat Capacity- the amount of heat per unit of mass to increase the temperature of a substance. I was thinking about how Mel can take a lotta heat and not be harmed by it, aka has a higher "specific heat capacity" than others. Corny but this was more of a general vibes one
Solubility Equilibrium- lotsa equilibrium in here. when an item is dissolving, there is a point where the reformation of the dissolved item (its precipitation) and its dissolving rate are the same. that is the solubility equilibrium. basically, at this point, viktor and jayce have begun to fully incorporate into this city, and they are reforming into people that can like. function and stuff
Autoionization- titled in mind with regards to water. water dissolves itself at 25 C at the rate of 1 * 10e-14, becoming hydronium and hydroxide. Silco and vander rip each other apart into their base forms and then come together as water, a necessary solvent for the undercity.
hope you enjoyed my insanity. I guess
