Megumi’s life in ur “tsumiki and megumi are seperated” AU is super fucked. Does Gojo secretly put him on supervillain watch. Does he try to give him the worst counselling anyone has ever seen.
Worse he keeps trying to become Megumi’s New Dad and Megumi cannot emphasize enough how much he does not want him to do this. Why does Gojo keep asking him to throw a baseball with him. Why does he keep trying to ruffle his hair.
#Gojo tried to give him The Talk and megumi immediately turned around and tried to walk into traffic#because he’s the funniest motherfucker that ever was in any universe#it’s important to note that Megumi’s life in that AU is super fucked but almost no one knows the scope of it#megumis taking that shit to his grave#hes finally in a better place and he really really does not want anyone else to know about what he considers a really humiliating experience#he hates feeling weak is the thing and no one has ever made him feel weak the way his family did#he didn’t have any power over his own life and it was /humiliating/#everyone else had normal childhoods and there he was being micromanaged so excessively that he wasn’t allowed to bathe and dress himself jn#until fucking high school. and even then it was only because the Zenin couldn’t hassle him at school#like it’s super obvious to everyone that the Zenin abused him but#no one knows just how bad it was#tsumiki knows he made some kind of deal so the Zenin would take care of her but he refuses to tell her what it was because he doesn’t want#to admit he tried to hurt himself. he doesn’t want her to know how bad it got.#maki knows better than anyone but 1) she doesn’t know most of it and 2) she’s not telling anyone about it either. Megumi’s her boy. she’s#not betraying his already fragile trust by airing out his business to other people#it’s sort of painfully obvious the Zenin used to beat him but no one talks about it. Megumi would shut down if anyone tries#like his life was sort of terrible and he didn’t see it getting better but somehow it did and he just wants the past to die#he wants what happened to be dead and buried and over and he knows it’s far from it but he just. he doesn’t want anyone to know.

is it just me?
itoshi rin is tormented by the lingering ghosts of your tragic breakup. he is cold and he lives with the burden of missing you. he wonders if you are hurting too, or is it just him?
pairing : itoshi rin x reader
content : hurt and comfort. exes to lovers. messy breakup. accusations of cheating (no actual cheating). insecurities. mentions of alcohol. cursing.
it’s one in the morning and rin is surrounded by his friends and acquaintances but still, he feels cold. even with the alcohol in his system that he drank to purposely warm him, it’s cold.
it has been this way for nearly a year now. eleven months and a couple weeks, if anyone is counting. a few days more and it would be the anniversary of your breakup.
the nearer it gets to twelve months without you, the colder it gets. right now, even with the perfectly working heater in one of his teammate’s penthouse, rin shivers.
it’s cold.
he never thought it could be this cold.
rin knows why he feels like this. he knows exactly why he wakes up and goes to bed alone. the reason why his life is dull and empty is not a secret to him—he just won’t acknowledge it.
he refuses to admit to himself that the reason why he has been suffering for the past eleven months of his life is because you’re not here.
how could he admit it? how could he ever address that your absence it what causes his pitiful state, when he brought it upon himself.
it was his fault that you’re not here. he wanted this. well, he had thought that he wanted this.
there is no way he could welcome the thought that he misses you when he was the one who drove you away, right? there is no use.
it’s too late now. all he could do is go out with his teammates on nights like this and pretend as if he wasn’t freezing from the inside out.
“damn, this is so boring,” seishiro sits down beside him on the sofa and rin tenses at the presence of the white-haired boy.
he does not know what to do because among everyone else in this crowded room, you are most connected to nagi seishiro. your best friend. and he has long been your best friend before you and rin even got together.
how is rin supposed to act around the person who is still in your life while he himself isn’t? this man seated next to him knows where you are right now and what you have been doing, while rin has absolutely no idea how you are.
“didn’t think i’d see you here, itoshi,” nagi speaks again. rin hums in acknowledgment, “thought it wouldn’t be so bad to come.”
there is this unspoken understanding between them, that both of them are thinking about you. after all, aside from soccer, all they have in common is their connection to you.
nagi debates whether he should tell you that he saw rin tonight or keep it to himself so as to not instigate negative feelings from you.
rin wonders if he should start asking about you. he decides against it and pretended to busy himself with his cellphone to avoid further conversation with your best friend.
he convinces himself that he does not care. he acts like he doesn’t want to know how you are. he tries to make himself believe that as long as he can fake it, it will somehow be true.
jokes on him, really.
meguru approaches nagi next to him and rin is planning to ignore him like he usually does, but the words that comes out of meguru’s mouth made that utterly impossible.
“nagi! i saw y/n by the bookstore earlier this afternoon, didn’t you ask her to come? i invited her but she said you didn’t mention anythin’ about a party!”
the mere mention of your name makes rin’s heart stop. it has been a very long time since he heard someone mention your name casually around him. now that your name has been dropped, everything comes crashing down on him, and he cannot breathe.
“oh, damn, i’m sorry—“ bachira seems to notice his mistake upon not seeing rin next to nagi. they know not to carelessly throw your name around because at first, it affected his performance. now, it is apparent that you affect him in and out of the game.
“excuse me.”
rin is cold. it’s like ice is running through his veins as he stands up and rushes to leave the suffocating penthouse.
rin runs out to the street and for the first time since he lost you, he names the sinking feeling in his stomach that won’t go away.
for the first time since you walked out the door of your shared apartment, rin finally admits it.
he misses you.
he is longing for you like how the moon misses the sun but never meets it enough. it burns and it is freezing all at the same time because when you were here, he felt nothing but the assurance of your love.
he runs, and runs, and runs. it’s dark and it’s cold, but he runs. he runs in hopes that he could change the past. he runs with the burning desire to correct his faults and take back all the hurt he inflicted on you.
maybe then, you’d be here.
maybe then, it wouldn’t be so cold.
“are you seriously accusing me of that, rin? are you hearing yourself right now?” the hurt was evident in your tone as you watched the love of your life with all of his guards up.
his glares were accusing as if what he saw was an unforgivable betrayal. he had seen you talking to his brother, sae, and rin was quick to act out of pure rage and jealousy.
“you were flirting with my fucking brother!” he spat out, and he knew it was irrational.
he knew he was wrong about and that you would never be able to do that to him, but his years of pent up frustration and hatred towards his brother made it impossible to remember his trust in you.
“and i already told you i wasn’t, rin. i was talking to him. i bumped into him at the coffee shop while i was getting your usual morning drink when he saw me and i sat down for a little chat! that was all, baby. believe me.”
you deserved an award with how well you held up, with how patient you were with him despite his hurtful accusations towards you.
no one else understood him like you did, and you knew to be more patient with him in times like these. you were aware of how his brother affected him and how he just needed someone to stick with him through it.
“well, fuck that! you shouldn’t have been with him in the first place! sae wants everything that i have and now, he’s tryna get you too!”
it almost made you flinch, with his tone rising and his voice getting louder. he is furious, and you try to disregard the sting of his words now that his fury is directed at you.
“i’m sorry, alright? it wasn’t my intention to hurt you, rin. he’s your brother and i thought it would be nice to ask him how he is and—“
rin cut you off like he couldn’t comprehend a word that you were saying. “that’s bullshit and you know it! just fuckin’ tell me the truth! that like everyone and everything else, you’re gonna leave me for him!”
it frustrated you that he blocked all your explanations out. you were growing weary with the accusations thrown at you, but you continued. you continued to reason with him because you knew him. you knew he needed someone to stay. and above all, you tried further because you were in love with him.
you loved rin three years before you finally got together. your two years together made that five. that was five years of your life being deeply in love with someone whom you thought was going to be your husband and the father of your kids.
that amount of time may not be much when viewed through the generations of people who loved each other, but for the both of you, those five years were enough to build a life and create an ideal future with the other.
so, yeah. it never occurred to you to give up in that argument. there was no chance in hell that you would leave him high and dry.
“it’s not like that, rin. i am never going to leave you for anyone, much less for your brother! i need you to listen to me! we talked! that’s it!”
“you’re lying to me. i know it.”
you shake your head in exhaustion. “i talk, and i talk, and i talk—and you don’t hear a thing.” a lone tear falls from your eye without realizing.
his sharp stare does not falter. all he could see was red. the scene of you and sae together replayed over and over again in his mind.
you, the person he loved most, with the person who took everything away from him. it killed him to imagine a future where it is not you and him, but you and sae.
“i’m in love with you. only you. i cannot see myself with anyone else and i thought you knew that, rin. i get that your brother strikes a vein in you but don’t i at least deserve to be heard? we’re better than this.”
“yeah? and i thought you’d be better than acquainting with sae like that. you knew how i felt about him, and you did this? fuck that.”
rin walked out on you that night without another word. it felt like he also walked out on your relationship because he started training more. this meant leaving before you even woke up and going home when you were fast asleep.
during those weeks when rin avoided you like the plague despite living under one roof, you felt completely alone and isolated. you were lonely. he spoke to you in words, and he treated you as if your encounter with sae was enough for him to give it all up.
until one day, he comes home to a living room full of bags and boxes. you were there, waiting for him with a tired smile on your face.
for the first time, rin realized that the black circles under your eyes have grown where they weren’t before. he noticed that you are all cried out and now, you’ve got no tears to shed as you leave him.
“w-what’s all this?”
“i’m leaving. i’m sorry for not getting out of your hair faster. it was really hard to look for another apartment that was within my budget but don’t worry, i figured it out.”
“leaving? leaving me? leaving… this house?” which one is it? or fuck, is it both?
“mhm. i f-figured it’s not healthy for us to live under the same roof after everything. i wouldn’t want you to be uncomfortable in your own space just because i’m here, so…”
did you really think he wanted you to leave? he wanted to explain. he wanted to tell you that he only acted that way because he was hurt and he was guilty! you don’t have to leave!
but he’s frozen from where he stood. the sight of all your stuff packed up and ready to go was a little bit too much for him.
you stood from where you were seated among the bags and boxes, and you stop in front of him. again, you smile gracefully, in contrast to the breaking heart that almost killed you.
“and rin? i’m sorry again for what happened with sae. i should’ve known better than to do that to you, and i understand that you don’t want to do anything with me because of that.”
he shook his head but you missed it because you walked past him with some of your bags in your hand. “y/n, no. i—“
you hear it and for a moment, you delude yourself into thinking that he will ask you to stay. but he doesn’t continue.
he stops because how could he ask you to stay after how he treated you? it was his fault for not listening and in the end, it was you who apologized? in what fucking universe do i deserve this angel, huh?
he doesn’t stop you from leaving because in that very moment, the thought of you finally escaping from him and his hurtful treatment towards you didn’t seem so bad.
“so, i guess… i’ll see you around. nagi will be around to grab my remaining stuff, so try not to kill each other, yeah?” you try to play it off cool, mask the fact that inside, everything is falling apart.
rin nods but he stayed with his back facing you. until the end, he did not have the guts to face you. to face what he had done to you and your relationship.
suddenly, everything grew cold. everything lost their color. the empty corners of where your warmth used to be mocked him.
for nearly a year since then, he has lived and suffered with the mistakes he did. he didn’t know what to tell people when they started asking about you. he didn’t know how to ride the train without holding your hand. he didn’t know how to be soaked in the shower without letting his tears flow freely.
he wondered endlessly as he daydreamed of speaking to you again: are you hurting too, or is it just me?
his endless running brings him to your street where you moved when you left him. his feet takes him farther than he expected because this street is on the opposite part of town from your shared apartment, a telltale sign that you tried to get as far away as possible.
evidently, it is not far enough because on your way home from the convenience store, you run into your ex-boyfriend. rin is first to notice your presence, and instead of freezing up like he did when you left, he walks up to you.
“rin?” you are confused and nervous. after all, the last time you had seen him was almost a year ago. you never tried to see him again.
“it hurts.”
the two words he just confessed are two words that he has never said together in a sentence ever in his life. itoshi rin never admits it when something is hurting him. he never tells anyone when he is in pain.
for him to say that now, it is a cry for you to soothe him in a way that only you could, and you know this because you know him better than the back of your hand.
standing a meter away from you underneath a street lamp, itoshi rin confesses his truth.
“it hurts, y/n. it hurts without you. it feels like i can’t breathe. it is so cold without you. it hurts so badly. i thought i could live with it eventually—but i can’t. it only gets worse.”
rin sees your shoulders shake in your attempt to conceal your sobs but you are failing miserably, and so does he. you don’t say anything and rin figures that’s fair.
you already tried to talk. you already told him everything you needed to hear on the night of the fight that ruined your relationship. it’s his turn to tell you everything you deserve to hear.
but he isn’t as good as you when it comes to words. he thinks about how he accused you of cheating on him. he thinks about how he shut you out and left you feeling lonely. he thinks about every day that he could have chased after you but didn’t. he thinks about all of that and he thinks about how he’s sorry.
and he manages to get that last part out, hoping that you would get it. hoping that the deep-rooted connection between the two of you is enough to let you know what he means.
“i’m sorry.”
you drop your groceries to the ground and you close the meter of distance between the two of you. you welcome him in his arms but he wraps his arms around you tighter than you welcomed him, because he is afraid that if he doesn’t, he will lose you again.
“that is all i needed to hear from you, rin. i never wanted much from you. just you and your love. i just needed to know that you still felt that for me, and when i didn’t… i had no other choice to walk away.”
rin nods against your neck and you feel his tears staining your shoulder. “i’m sorry. forgive me, please. i love you. i love you. and i trust you. more than anyone, baby. i promise.”
“you know i could never hurt you like you thought i did—“ you recalled, but rin cuts you off because he can’t bear another second of you defending yourself when you shouldn’t be.
“i know. i know.”
his embrace around you tightens, and he does not care if anyone could look out from their windows and see the soccer star practically begging for you in the middle of the night. not when he is in your arms again after months of only dreaming about it and wishing for it.
“it hurt too much without you too, rin. i had to remind myself that i can’t run to you for warmth. i took everything in me not to throw away my dignity to beg you to bring me back.”
that answers his question.
in his absence, you were hurting too. your separation killed you just like how it killed him.
“no. no—don’t have to beg for it, baby. i should be on my knees to thank you for even taking me back like this because—shit—i swear that i wouldn’t have lasted another day.”
you run your hands through his hair before briefly pulling away to cup his cheek in your hands, and he fondly leans on your touch.
“for the entire year, i thought it was just me who longed for you, rin.”
you couldn’t be any more wrong.
“i begged the stars and the skies for this very moment. it wasn’t just you.”

Why’d You Have to Wait?
🔥 - synopsis. You get kidnapped on a case. Aaron’s coping mechanism? Self isolation. But when you’re recovering, Aaron wonders if staying away from you is the right thing to do. Jack convinces him anyway. Are things too far gone for Aaron to fix?
🔥 - warnings. Non descriptive torture. Scars. Burns. Very vaguely described mental issues. Slow burn. Friends ro enemies to lovers? Sad hotch. Angst. No happy ending.
🔥 - author’s note. Doing a part two. Hopefully this doesnt flop :)
Aaron had dreams about it now. They were so vivid- lifelike and real. Every time he had them he woke up in a cold sweat, heaving in the bathroom as tears dripped slowly down his face.
He hadn’t gone to the hospital to see you. In fact, Aaron hadn’t seen you since the day you almost died. He rode in the ambulance, but tore himself away from the hospital as he watched the doctors wheel you into the operating room. Your blood had stained his hands, face, and arms for days. Every time the white spots danced in his vision after emptying the contents of his stomach, he swears he can still see the glossy red liquid drip off his fingers.
You were well like. Not only by the team but by Strauss. She had given the team the time off to help y/n recover: sit in her room after another surgery, cheer for her during physical therapy.
Jack loved having time to see his dad after school, but he knew something was wrong after consistently hearing him pad to the kitchen during the middle of the night.
Tonight was no different.
Jack sat up in his bed and rubbed his eyes. He blinked owlishly around the room and stood up. The little Hotchner slowly followed the light to the kitchen and saw his daddy lean over the sink. “Daddy?”
Aaron turned his head and tried to smile at Jack. Aaron knew he probably looked a mess. “Hey buddy. Let’s get you back to bed.”
Before Aaron could set down set down his water cup, Jack crawled up the seat and watched his dad over the counter. “What’s wrong, daddy?”
“I just can’t sleep,” Aaron shrugged, facing Jack with his arms crossed. “Why do you think something’s wrong?”
Jack looked at Aaron as if he had grown two heads. “You get up in the night a lot, daddy. And your eyes are red. You cough a lot too.“
Hotch wanted to laugh. Of course Jack knew something was wrong- he always knew. “Yeah. You’re right, kiddo.”
“You yell when you sleep sometimes too. What happened to y/n, daddy? She doesn’t come see me anymore.”
Aaron shuddered as he inhaled. Smart boy. “She got really hurt, buddy. It’s bad. I guess I just… get scared thinking about her getting hurt,” Aaron admits, feeling his heart beat faster in his chest.
Jack nodded. “Can we go see her?”
“I- I don’t think we should. She’s still getting better.”
Jack furrowd his eyebrows and tilted his head. “But I miss her.”
“I do t- I bet she misses you, too, Jack, but I don’t know how she’s doing. She might still-“
Jack sighed. “But daddy, she’d be so happy to see me!”
Aaron sighed. As much as he selfishly wanted to see you, he couldn’t. He’d do something he wasn’t proud of- embarrass himself, ruin his reputation of being a mentally and emotionally tough boss, ruin your friendship… No. Aaron couldn’t go by himself, but Jack could go with him. Why hadn’t Aaron thought of it before?
“Okay,” Aaron relented. A smile tugged at his lips when Jack’s face lit up. He scrambled off his chair and collided into Aaron’s legs and squeezed.
“Can I sleep with you tonight, daddy? Aunt Jess always stays with me when I have a nightmare.”
Aaron bent down and picked Jack up and nodded. “Yeah, buddy. Let me brush my teeth again.”
Jack wrapped his arms around his dad’s neck and squeezed, as big of a hug his little body could give.
— 🔥
The days were all a blur for you. Now that you were all fucked up, nothing felt right anymore. Second defree burns crawled up the calf of your left leg. Small cuts littered your entire body, scarring and twisting your skin. The worst part was the long, twisting scar that started on your cheek about two inches away from your ear and pulled down to your collarbone.
The unsub, Barney MacMillian, was a sadist. A stupid fucking sadist. He thought he was punishing you for hunting him when he kidnapped and tortured you.
You know the team tried- they really really did try- to cheer you up, to get you back. But the fact that you now considered yourself a monster and how you started to believe the things MacMillian had whispered in your ear as he tore you apart, layer by layer.
Derek genuinely thought your scar was badass, but learned not to bring it up. Penelope just kept rehashing everything- something you had eventually told her to atop doing. Prentiss was cautious, testing the waters. But she eventually got back into a rhythm with you as your best friend. JJ didn’t do anything wrong, she was just really nice- too nice? Spencer was… himself. And you couldn’t thank him enough for just staying him, recitinf facts about burns and scars, knives and blood loss. It was morbid, sure, but you were always close with him and the way his brain worked.
Rossi was the one that kept you together through it all, though. He had conversations with you, long past visiting hours. He talked with you about anything and everything and somehow knew exactly what you needed to hear or talk about. But he kept making excuses for Aaron.
Aaron. The romantic feelings you kept trying to flush away turned into hurt every time Rossi’s eyes flickered away from yours when you asked about him. But you knew now. He didn’t care. He never would. That’s why he didn’t show. It’s the only plausible explanation of why he wouldn’t show up, shoot you a text, something.
So you turned your hurt into anger and stopped asking, ignoring the way your heart would drop to your stomach and how the acid in your stomach churned eveey time you heard his name.
You already had your resignation documenta stored neatly in a magazine in the second table in the nightstand to your right. You were done with it all.
— 🔥
That’s why you felt tears prick in your eyes when you saw Jack Hotchner leap into the room. His little eyes scoured your face, eyes dragging down the healing skin on your face. You heard Aaron’s footfalls stop short at the door. Your jaw clenched and you stared at Jack, waiting for him to start crying and ask to leave.
But he didn’t. He just smiled and leapt into your arms, completely unaware of the physical pain in your leg and body. He just wrapped his arms and legs around you.
You sat still, eyes looking at Rossi, who smiled at you. You hadn’t yet looked at Aaron and didn’t even want to. Carefully you wrapped your arms around Jack’s back, ignoring how fast the tears left your eyes.
Jack pulled back and looked at you with a smile that faded the second he saw your tears. In all of your time (almost 10 years) at the BAU, Jack had only seen you cry once. And that was during a movie.
“I thought coming to see you what make you happy,” he sad, voice sad. “Why are you crying?”
You smiled at him, sniffling pitifully. “I’m not sad, little J. I am really happy to see you,” you said. You hoped Aaron would hear the sharp undertone in your voice. Judging by Rossi’s huff of a laugh, he did.
“Oh! Well, I brought you stuff. I know you like the Black Widow because she’s really cool, so I brought you a coloring book,” Jack explained as he brandished his backpack full of stuff. You listensed intently, only looking up when Rossi got your attention and nodded to the door to signal him leaving.
Jack kept talking and you were overjoyed to listen. He was a pleasent little man, making your time more enjoyable. He opened up the coloring book he bought and started coloring after giving you a Beanie Baby he had that you mentioned you liked. He also got you a necklace- that Aaron no doubt spent a pretty penny for- that had your birthstone set in it. Jack watched you carefully as you opened it, and he put it on with his chubby fingers. You didn’t tell him that you would have to take it off soon after he left so it didn’t kill you when you slept. Hospital policy or something.
Soon after you finished your own coloring page featuring the Black Widow and Tony Stark making a hero landing, Jack turned on the T.V. and fell asleep.
“Hey,” Aaron said finally.
You nodded. “Hi boss.”
Aaron bit his lip. You stared forward, hand threading through Jack’s hair. Aaron felt his heart clenching in his chest. He didn’t know how you were gonna react when he came by, but he didn’t expect this- this silent treatment. He didn’t really blame you though. He wanted more than anything to make it up to you, to get you smiling again, but he knew the distance was probably better. For him at least.
“Y/n-“ Aaron started.”
You cut him off with. “Jack’s asleep, sir. It would be best not to wake him.”
Sir. You only called him sir if you were mad. Aaron swallowed. He knew he fucked up. Would he ever be able to fix his mistake, bring the old you back? He pondered the questions as he leaned back in his chair and watched the television show Jack chose before he fell asleep.
— 🔥
“Y/n is getting sent home today,” David’s voice crackled through the phone. “We wanted to take her out to dinner, something nice. Are you coming?”
Aaron sat at the kitchen table, checking over Jack’s homework. Jack himself was sitting a couple feet away on the couch. “Probably not. I have Jack.”
Rossi scoffed on the other line. “She loves Jack and he loves her. Bring him with you.”
“I don’t know,” Aaron sighed. He rested his head in his hands and closed his eyes. “Dave, she hates me.”
Silence. Rossi exhaled and shook his head. “She doesn’t hate you, but you’re giving her a lot of reasons to. Clean yourself up and meet us all at the address Garcia’ll send you. 6:00. Be there, Aaron. If not for her…” he trailed off, considering his next words carefully. “Then for Jack.”
— 🔥
David convinced you all to wait until ordering.
But when 6:45 rolled around and Aaron didn’t show, you just clenched your jaw and ordered a neat whiskey.

now playing...
after midnight - chappell roan
pairing: singer/producer lee heeseung x singer reader "y/n" x singer sim jaeyun
warnings: profanity, suggestive, kissing, heeseung is thirsty, overall 18+ - also this is partially written so please make sure to read the written part so it all makes sense
wc: 954
ignore the time stamps and any possible typos lol
heeseung approaches y/n as she’s mingling with jake and his friends. her smile fading after he taps her shoulder and he comes into view. “can i steal her for a bit?” heeseung asks jake as if jake was the person in charge of you. a recurring behavior heeseung where he felt the need to always show ownership and possession of you when you were dating, rarely ever considering how you felt or how it would affect you.
jake shakes his head and lets you go with heeseung even if you don't want to. heeseung grabs your wrist after failing to hold your hand, dragging you to a part of the venue where you weren’t necessarily seen by a lot of people. “what do you want heeseung? i’m trying to enjoy the party…” you say with a sigh and he tries to reel you in by showing you his big doe eyes and even though it slightly made your heart flutter, you chose to stand on business.
“look, i know i fucked up but just give me one more chance to treat you right.” heeseung says but slows down as the sentence progresses when you just so happen to say the same exact things as him. this was the sentence he had pulled on you in the past and quite frankly, it worked a few times but not this time.
“you didn’t even wanna try a new script to get me back?” you ask coldly and heeseung drops his face like he has been caught. “okay, i just don’t know what to say. i miss you and i know i was a fucking ass but i just can’t stand being without you.” heeseung says and you just watch him, waiting because you know he was eventually going to tell on himself. he had that habit, when heeseung was drunk and he began to ramble at you, if you just stared at him his silent pauses would be filled with more rambling because he wanted to avoid the awkward silence. so he’d fill it with more talking and eventually confess something he didn’t mean to.
“and i don’t know. that sond i made was mean i admit that but did you have to do a collab with jake of all people? you know how much i liked his music and it felt like a low blow.” there it is…
“ha! i knew it! you’re jealous, i can’t believe this is what this is actually about. do you even want me back or are you just threatened with the idea that someone else wants me and that i’m no longer yours?” you ask, anger in your voice and heeseung doesn’t know what to say.
“heeseung, i mean this in the nicest way possible, leave me alone.” you say and although heeseung was expecting something a bit harsher, your tired demeanor and offset to his advances hurt more than your words.
you walk away before heeseung could say another but you don’t rejoin jake and his friends, choosing to find a spot you could be alone for a few minutes.
you turn around to hide yourself from jake as he approaches, half embarrassed that he has to see you like this and the other feeling guilty as you’re bringing down the vibe of his own party.
“you okay, pretty?” jake asks as he pushes open the door to the balcony. the cold air whipping past him as he takes the spot next to you. clearing your throat, “yeah, i’m okay. sorry i don’t wanna be a downer on your birthday.” you say, trying to avoid eye contact but jake softly grabs your chin to make eye contact with you.
“can i be honest..? i wasn’t really feeling the party either.” jake says with a chuckle and he gets a laugh out of you at the same time, smiling even bigger when he hears your laugh that he finds so pretty.
“wanna get out of here?” he asks and as much as you wanted to, you felt bad. “jake, this is your party, you should be here.” you say to him and jake just rolls his eyes with a pout. “nah, everyone in there is probably too drunk to even notice.” he reassures you and for a moment you’re just looking at each other. jake’s eyes are fishing for the small glint in your eyes that tells him you want this as much as he does, and indeed you do.
you take his hand in yours and drag him back inside, past the party, and into the elevator. “where you taking me, huh?” jake says, teasingly and you roll your eyes at him playfully as you drag jake to your car.
the drive back to your place is filled with laughter and singing random songs with jake. he couldn’t believe this was finally, his crush on you was finally progressing to something more. his eyes widened at the sight of your apartment, a high rise but humble home that screamed your style. cute figures and stuffed animals scattered throughout the home and empty cans of energy drinks on your kitchen counter.
jake is taken out of his thoughts when you slam the door behind him and you grab him by the collar. “do you think i’m pretty?” you ask even though you already know that answer to it. jake nods, desperation in his eyes as he looks down at your lips.
“do you wanna kiss me, jakey?” you ask and he nods eagerly, answering faster than the first time. you don’t even get a chance to lean closer to jake before he crashes his lips onto yours. a moment he had been waiting for.

electric touch - eddie munson x reader
summary: eddie hasn't had much luck with dates - not until you.
warnings: ppl being mean to eddie (only for a little bit!) and some discussion on eddie's penchant for kinda being used by the popular girls but there's so much fluff and some kissing at the end
word count: 2.8k
a/n: i started this when speak now tv came out and then completely abandoned it but she's my little brain child
When Eddie was in eighth grade, he spent a week rehearsing the best way to ask a girl out on a date. He practiced in the mirror every day, making sure to sound hopeful, but not desperate, eager, but not pushy. He’d almost given up and asked his Uncle for advice, but in case it didn’t go the way he wanted it to, he didn’t want Wayne to be waiting for an update.
There was a new horror movie premiering in the theater downtown, and he’d heard that scary movies were the best to bring a girl to - because if she got scared, Eddie could put his arm around her and protect her from the fictional monsters.
He never even got the chance to ask her. He’d tried, to be sure. Monday morning of the next week, when he’d worked up enough nerve, he walked up to the group of cheerleaders she was a part of, and didn’t even open his mouth before the group of girls ganged up on him - asking him what he wanted, calling him a freak, telling him to get away from them. Later, the girl he’d been pining after approached him - sans clique - and apologized on behalf of her friends. She didn’t feel the same as them, but she couldn’t ruin her “reputation.” They saw each other in secret for half a year before she got a boyfriend on the basketball team. Typical. It hurt Eddie more than he was comfortable admitting.
Eddie doesn’t love referring to himself as a cynic, but the repetitive cycle of being used by popular girls for a night of fun - fulfilling their dream of sleeping with the town’s resident bad boy before never speaking to him again, exhausted Eddie to the point of declaring that true love was a capitalistic ruse created to sell laboratory made diamonds. It would never work out for him, and he convinced himself that he was okay with that.
For the remainder of high school, Eddie continued to play the part. Rich kids invited him to ragers and tried to weasel their way out of paying full price for his weed, even though they were buying with daddy’s money, not their own. He hooked up with random popular girl after random popular girl, always leaving immediately and feeling like shit after. But at least he was getting laid, right?
✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
Now, Eddie is sitting on the couch in his living room, meticulously arranging and rearranging Wayne’s automobile magazines that live untouched on the coffee table. Has there always been this much dust on them? He wasn’t sure, and the thought only offered a momentary distraction before the nerves swept him back into the electric current of anxiety running through his body.
He’d already spent most of the past hour making sure there was no visible trash laying out in the open for you to see. He’d even gone so far as to make his room slightly presentable in case you wanted to go in. He wasn’t expecting anything - quite the opposite, actually. He was sure that you’d see the place he lives, turn around and walk out without giving him a chance, and never speak to him again.
Logically, he knows that this won’t be the case. He knows that Dustin wouldn’t lie to him about your reciprocated interest. He’d spent the entire drive back to Eddie’s trailer for their Hellfire meeting trying to convince him that he saw how giddy his sister had been when she opened the door and saw him standing there. She’d known Eddie was coming to pick her younger brother up, and she’d put on mascara to greet him - as if Eddie truly knows enough about girls to take that as a surefire sign that you were excited to see him. Dustin hears you talking over the phone to your friends about him all the time, and he only shares with Eddie that what you say is positive - not wanting to disclose the nitty gritty. It’s not your fault that the walls of your adjoined rooms are thin, and your friends are loud.
Still, Eddie is nervous. When he gave you his phone number under the assumption that you might want to call to check up on Dustin, he was shocked that you called days after the Hellfire meeting had ended, and Dustin had returned home. So shocked, in fact, that he wasn’t even the one who had answered the phone - Wayne was. When he’d heard the sweet lilt of your voice on the other side of the line, he’d practically shoved his uncle to grab hold of the phone. You sounded unsure saying hello to him - nervous and breathy and a little bit quiet, but not unenthusiastic - and Eddie knew that Dustin had been telling the truth.
Eddie spoke to you for an hour that night before he worked up the nerve to ask if you might want to come over to watch a movie. “No funny business, just the sweet sight of David Bowie in tights that no other man would ever be able to pull off.” You’d giggled - a sound Eddie was determined to hear again - and asked how he knew that Labyrinth was your favorite movie. The truth was that he’d overheard Dustin complaining about how you chose it every time it was your turn to pick for family movie night, but he brushed off the question and said that he just “Had a feeling.”
The sudden appearance of headlights beaming through the trailer window brings Eddie out of his reverie long enough to remember to wipe the dust from his hands onto his jeans. The sound of your car door opening and closing, and the crunch that your shoes make on the gravel pulls Eddie like a siren song from the couch to his trailer door, and the creaking of the wooden steps leading up to said door, has him pulling it open faster than he means to.
You’re a vision of comfort. Of soft things. Of light wash jeans with no rips in them, of cardigans and sweaters and rose perfume. Your fist is raised in the air like you were about to knock, and for a moment, Eddie thinks this whole thing was a mistake.
“Oh-”
“Sorry, I-”
There’s a beat of silence. The energy between the two of you is almost palpable - eyes wide and palms clammy - before he breaks the connection and moves out of the way for you to come in. He knows he can turn on the charm once you’re settled, but this has been the part he’s been dreading the most.
It doesn’t matter to his friends that he lives in a trailer. It doesn’t matter when there are beer bottles on the coffee table or old socks on the couch, he knows the guys won’t care. But as you step in, and your eyes begin to sweep over the small living room, the reality of his economic status has never felt bigger, or made him feel smaller.
As he looks at you though, he notices the soft smile on your face. Taking stock of the collection of hats and mugs lining the walls, of the throw blanket laid over the top of the recliner.
“The uh, the hats and stuff are my Uncle’s.”
“They’re really cool,” his eyes trace your movements as you walk along the edges of the room, arms at your sides, reading the puns and state names embroidered on them. “has he always collected them?”
Eddie makes his way to the couch, and sits - trying to direct his line of sight to the same ones you’re looking at. Trying to put himself in your shoes and guess what you might be thinking, but coming up short.
“Wayne was a trucker for a few years,” you turn to look at him, to pay attention to what he’s saying. Eddie does a lot of stupid shit to get people to look at him, he knows that. It doesn’t matter that the expressions he receives the most often are sneers or ones of annoyance. Exasperation. But you look genuinely interested in what he has to say, and it throws him for a loop. “And then he got stuck with me, so he doesn’t really get to buy new ones anymore.”
“Stuck with you?”
“I mean, yeah, kind of. It’s a long boring story,” Eddie claps his hands together and launches himself up and off of the couch, and you know to stop pushing. “Want the grand tour?”
“Absolutely,” you nod.
“Well, my lady,” you watch from your position by the recliner as he struts to the middle of the living room, puts his arms out horizontally at his sides, and bows deeply, “welcome to Castle Munson. The maid did actually remember to show up tonight.”
“Oh yeah? She did an excellent job,” you huff out a laugh, and Eddie snaps back up to a vertical, a smile on his face that showcases the lines around his mouth.
✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
“Eddie? Can I ask you something?”
After giving you a short but enthusiastic tour of the main parts of the trailer and presenting you with the array of snacks he'd gotten for the movie, you both settled on the small couch in the living room. You'd had to resist the urge to curl up into his side, and instead curled up into the arm of the couch.
“Anything, sweets. Go for it.”
“How did you really know this was my favorite movie?”
“I’m psychic,” He taps his index finger to his temple a few times. “I didn’t tell you that?”
“Eddie.”
“Y/n.”
“I’m being serious!”
“So am I!” He matches your raised pitch - teasing, but not condescending - and you almost raise your hand to hit him on the shoulder, but you don’t know if you’ve reached that level of familiarity yet.
“You don’t have to answer the question if you don’t want to. I’m not weirded out or anything - just curious. Honestly, I’m kind of like, flattered, I guess? I don’t know.”
Had you overstepped? Eddies eyes flit over different things in the room in rapid succession, and he exhales - you can almost see the cogs turning in his head - like he doesn’t know whether to keep joking or offer a moment of true vulnerability. You don’t think the latter comes naturally to him.
“I heard Dustin complaining to Wheeler that you always pick it for family movie night. It seems like the kind of thing you’d like. Very dreamy and hazy, that kinda thing.” Eddie shrugs and looks off to the side, trying and failing to put on an air of nonchalance, but his tinted cheeks suggest otherwise.
“Is that how you think of me? Dreamy and hazy?” You duck your head to try and meet his gaze, and when he turns to look at you, you think it’s the first time you’ve ever truly seen him. The boyish, innocent version of him that he doesn’t allow to rise to the surface all that often. His charm is still there, and bright as ever, but you can see the uncertainty in the way he struggles to keep his eyes on yours.
“Maybe. Is that a problem?”
“Not at all.” The smile that graces your features is so easy and genuine that Eddie has no choice but to beam his own right back at you.
You settle into an easier silence for the remainder of the movie, save for the comments the both of you share. You think it’s especially funny when Eddie compares The Fireys playing volleyball with their own heads to a “Muppet snuff film on acid.” When it’s over, he grabs a few Dr. Peppers from the fridge and asks if you want to smoke with him before you head back home. You decline, because driving while high makes you nervous, but you don’t mind sitting with him for a bit longer.
“Plus, there’s one more room I haven’t given you the tour for, if you’re interested…”
“I get to see the King’s quarters?”
“More like the dungeon,” he gestures to himself, still clad in his Hellfire shirt, “but yeah, totally.”
“Lead the way then, dungeon master.”
He looks behind himself to see if you’re following, and extends his hand back so you can hold onto it. It’s not like you’re gonna get lost - the hallway is less than ten feet, but it gives you an excuse to finally touch without overthinking it. Eddie doesn't care to ask whether the jolt of static he feels when your hands meet for the first time is because of your shuffling socks on the carpet or the nervous current running between the two of you. Guessing by the way you suck in a soft breath - one he could barely hear - he doesn’t think you care either.
✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
“All I’m saying is Jareth’s a weirdo for wanting a whiny sixteen year old to be his queen.” Eddie is laying on his stomach, legs bent at the knee and ankles crossed in the air. When you’d entered his room, he’d shown you his favorite things before quickly ushering you to get comfortable on the bed. He said that he needed to have an in depth conversation about the movie you’d just watched.
“The age gap is bad for sure, and she is whiny, I totally get what you’re saying, but-” You’re sitting across from him, elbows resting on your criss-crossed legs.
“But? Y/n. Are you about to defend him?”
“Let me finish!” You giggle and Eddie swears that he can feel it in his chest - another spark.
“I cannot let you finish if you’re about to say what I think you’re gonna say. Morally. Ethically. I cannot let you finish.” In true dramatic Munson fashion, he sweeps his hands in front of him, palm facing out for you to see. He’s almost pouting, lips folded in and corners turned down.
“What I’m trying to say,” you look pointedly at him to see if he’s going to interrupt again, “is that I think that his proposition isn’t so bad when you really think about it.”
“Well now I have to hear your reasoning behind this.”
“Think about it. He’s offering her literally anything she could possibly desire, and all she has to do is love him back.”
“Oh that’s all? I think you’re forgetting the part where he says she has to obey his every whim or whatever the fuck.” Eddie fights the urge to change his tone from teasing to serious - his heart twinging at the idea of making you uncomfortable.
“You don’t think that love is enough? Or that maybe all love has a level of devotion attached to it?”
“I think my idea of love is too fucked to give you a real answer.” He’s refusing to look at you - gaze directed towards his ringed hands fiddling with the metal tab of the soda can, eyebrows furrowed.
“I could fix that, if you wanted - make it all dreamy and hazy for you.”
Eddie can feel the wires in his brain short circuit. In the back of his mind somewhere, he knows that he only has a few seconds to respond before you start to think that maybe you said something wrong, but he can’t seem to reconnect in time. All he manages is an out of breath -
“Yeah?”
“If you wanted, yeah,” you nod, like you’ve decided something, and slowly reach to pull his hand from the soda can - taking it with you and setting it down on the crowded bedside table. “I think you deserve it.”
“Really?” He’s looking at your joined hands, but he doesn’t wrap his fingers around yours. Not yet.
“Yeah, Eddie. Really.”
His fingers finally wrap around yours as you pull him from his position on his stomach to lean over you - rising onto his knees and walking on them before planting his arms on either side of your torso. He can feel your breath, soft against his cheeks as he leans in and connects his lips to yours - once, twice, three times.
That same sparky feeling that Eddie has been getting in his chest all night finally rumbles to life. Like a car being hotwired, he can practically feel your hands pulling wires he thought were long dead and breathing life back into them - rubbing them together until the spark catches and the engine starts.
“That was-” You pull away slightly to look up at him, lovesick and dopey.
“Dreamy? Hazy? I think those are two words I would definitely-”
You laugh, already pulling his face back towards yours.
“Shut up and kiss me again, Munson.”

Shadowpeach:
Wukong is a morning person. Macaque is NOT. Wukong tries to sneak out of bed in the morning but Macaque has an iron grip on him.
Wukong loves to paint so Macaque will force himself to go into civilization so he can get Wukong NICE paints.
Wukong when he wants to, likes to make new deserts and snack recipes. He has Macaque try all of them so he has a tester. Macaque likes the free snacks.
Wukong likes doing makeup so when Macaque lets him he’ll try new looks on Macaque.
Macaque CLINGS onto Wukong at parties. He doesn’t want to be there or talk to anyone so he sticks with Wukong.
Macaque once made Wukong cry when he tried joking with him when he was overstimulated. He IMMEDIATELY felt bad and still hasn’t forgot about it. (This actually happened to me)
Macaque fell first AND harder.
Wukong likes to bite. Not hard but he likes to just nibble. Macaque likes it WAY too much. He’s a freak.
Macaque doesn’t like fireworks because of how loud they are. Wukong won’t set fireworks off when Macaque is on the mountain.
They have drawing sessions together.
Freenoodles:
Tang stares at Pigsy when he cooks. There’s something so mesmerizing about his husband just cooking peacefully. He’d genuinely rather watch Pigsy than any tv show.
Pigs nuzzle to show affection. That’s why Pigsy and Tang nuzzle so much.
Pigsy has a wedding ring but he doesn’t keep it on when he cooks. Tang WILL NOT take it off. He bagged Pigsy and will not stop showing it.
They like to watch cheesy rom coms together. They laugh at them and then fall asleep on the couch.
Tang is surprisingly REALLY jealous. Not in a TikTok dark romance way, more like a whiny baby way. He knows Pigsy isn’t going to cheat on him cause he trusts him so much but it bothers him if a customer gets to close for his comfort. Pigsy isn’t jealous at all. Like no jealous bone in his body. You could hit on Tang right in front of him and he knows Tang would freak out more.
Pigsy was a MUCH more strict parent. Tang is a VERY played back dad.
Tang didn’t know how to express affection when he and Pigsy started dating so he just spoiled him with gifts.
They are a very old married couple. They lay in bed at night in their pjs. Tang reads Jttw while Pigsy watches Chang’es cooking show.
Tang comes up with the CHEESIEST pickup lines and Pigsy still loves him for some reason.
They like to tease and annoy each other but they love each other.
Spicynoodles:
Redson straightens his hair a lot so most people don’t see his curly hair. Mk LOVES Redsons curly hair and BEGS him not to straighten it.
Redson doesn’t like to share his food but she’ll give Mk just a little bit if he asks.
Mk basically lays on top of Redson when they’re in bed during the winter. Redson is basically a free heater.
Redson is Mk’s muse. He draws him constantly but he’s to shy to show her.
Mk tries to show off for Redson when they’re at the arcade. He’ll try and impress him by getting a slam dunk but the ball rick a shays off the backboard and hits him.
Redson is sensitive to touch because they’re afraid that their fire will burn people. When they start dating Mk wears more layers + fire proof gloves so that he can be all up on Red.
While rain makes Redsons hair go flat and straight, rain doesn’t hurt him. Mk INSISTS on making sure he’s ALWAYS under an umbrella so that she doesn’t get wet. Redson won’t admit it but she finds it sweet.
Redson likes to cook, a hobby he got from DBK and Wukong, so he makes Mk food as a sign of affection.
Redson has a 15 steps hair and skin routine. Mk puts on his headband and leaves the house. The man’s skin is like sandpaper.
Both like horror movies but BOTH get scared at the jump scares.
Dragonfruit:
Mei sends Redson all kinds of videos about cute animals. Redson once replied with a heart and Mei fell in love.
Mei would say “Sorry guys, I gotta get home to the wife!” And then go see Redson.
Mei’s parents LOVE Redson. Whenever she comes home they ask where Red is.
Mei spoils Redson with gifts. It’s her love language. Redson tries to do out in return but Mei won’t let him.
The two like to race. They race along beaches or deserted roads. It’s bonding time for them.
Redson fell first, Mei fell harder.
Redson gets up earlier to complete their routines and start work. You’ll be lucky to see Mei before 11 am.
Both are judgy as HELL. They shit talk anyone who dares to walk by.
Mei types using emojis, Redson uses :( :/ :o
Mei will use ANY opportunity to talk about how her and Redson got together.
Chimera:
Mei sleeps on the left, Redsons in the middle, Mk is on the right. They make one big cuddle pile.
Mei and Mk are SUPER clingy. Redson DOES not get work when they both wake up.
They all have movie nights. Trashy rom coms, horror, tragedy’s. They watch them all.
Mk has perfected Mei and Redsons coffee orders.
They started a plushie collection. Any time anyone wins or buys a plushie, it goes in the collection.
Mk and Mei wear boxers and t shirts to bed. Redson wears one of those big frilly robes to sleep.
Mk and Mei like to mess around with Redsons hair cause it’s so much longer than theirs.
When Mei is experimental with her style, Mk and Redson are supportive.
Mei and Redson hang up Mks drawings of them.
“What do you see in those two?” “They make me laugh.”
I finished writing these at 1 am. I have school. What am I doing.

We're on this together...(Chapter VI)
Bradley Bradshaw x Fem!Wife!Reader
Summary: Stupid kids.
Little note: Carol and Nick is still alive.
Warnings: Infertility, mentions of miscarrige, mentions of hospital, mentions of getting pregnant, mentiones of ivf.Use of alcohol, arguing, use of bad languange. Not so angsty anymore🥹
July 22, 2022:
It was almost six weeks later that Bradley became suspicious.
They both hadn’t spent much time together since the last time, and he wanted to make up for lost time with his wife. So he decided to take a day off and make breakfast while you were still in bed.
He whistles as he makes the pancakes, turning around every now and then to check the coffee on the stove the way you like it. He puts the missing dishes on the tray, completing the breakfast you’ve been making for years; maple syrup, coffee, pancakes, hash browns, and toast.
He jots down the note, “I’ll always love you :).”
He hears you coming down the stairs and mentally prides himself on his perfect timing, quickly organizing everything and turning toward the door frame that separates the kitchen from the living room.
You enter the scene as he scratches his tangled nest of hair and tries to adjust the pj's that have been tossing and turning throughout the night, his face is imprinted with pillows and Bradley feels like he’s going to faint from how beautiful his wife is.
“Good morning, my love.”
“Hm.” You just smile, you don’t like talking to anyone when you’re barely awake and he knows that so he doesn’t force you.
You open your eyes and stop in your tracks when you see your breakfast, looking at your husband with a small smile and a blush on his face.
“Oh, Bradley!”
“It’s been a long time since we had breakfast together.” He mutters and you settle between his legs (you sat down so you could eat with him) and walk over to him to take his face in your hands, placing small kisses on his sparsely stubbled face and lips.
You sit down and the two of you start eating, chatting from time to time.
He looked proud of himself as he watched you eat pancakes with maple syrup, but you tasted the coffee and spit it back into the cup.
"Hey! Why did you do that?" He asks you with a hurt expression on his face.
"I'm sorry honey, but it tastes awful."
You reply with a grimace as you pour yourself a glass of apple juice to drink it all down.
Bradley takes your coffee from you and takes a sip; it tastes perfectly normal, very good if he has to admit, but he decides to leave you alone and let you continue with a glass of apple juice.
You were happily continuing to eat, of course, until you popped a small piece of egg yolk into your mouth.
Bradley doesn’t have time to complain when you’re throwing up in the sink anyway.
He quickly drops his coffee and walks over to you, grabbing your hair and patting your back until you pull yourself together, wiping your face with the sleeve of his shirt as he looks at you.
“I don’t feel so good.” You mumbled with a pout that made Bradley’s heart ache.
“It’s okay, honey.” He pulls you into his chest. “Why don’t you lie down? I’ll put everything aside and join you as soon as I can.”
You nod and look into his eyes. “I’m sorry I messed this up.”
He smiles sadly as he brushes his sweaty hair from his forehead. “You didn’t mess anything up, to be honest, I was really looking forward to staying in bed with you.”
You leave and ten minutes pass while Bradley gets breakfast, maybe saving it for later. He’s washing the cups when he notices something while one of them drying in the sink.
He picks up his phone with his half-dried hands and opens the conversation he had with his mother a week ago.
"Everything is fine honey. Your cousin is pregnant and can't handle eggs and coffee so we're taking care of her now. Kisses, honey, I love you and Y/N!! 💕💞😘"
Eggs and coffee.
Eggs.
Coffee.
He grips the marble countertop as he tries to catch his breath.
Could it be..?
God, he's going to faint at the thought.
He couldn’t believe he had such a good memory to remember such a mundane message between his mother and him.
You run your hand over your face as you trie to come back to reality if she’s pregnant…or not..
Damn it, you can’t think straight, and if it wasn’t for Duke jumping on the counter and barking in your face, then you’d still be going crazy.
You turn off the faucet and run upstairs, ignoring Bradley's fuzzy nerves as he enters your shared bedroom, you stare at him in fear.
“Take a pregnancy test.” That’s all he says, and you get out of bed in confusion.
“What?” You ask, approaching him. “Are you okay? You look pale.” You cup his face.
“Yeah, yeah.” He responds excitedly, letting you examine his face.
“Just, please, you have to.”
“Okay, I’ll do it and you’ll calm down.” He looks into your eyes and nods. “Come on.”
Bradley can barely control himself as you pee on four sticks to make sure, wandering the bathroom and bedroom until you come out.
“We need to wait five minutes, do you want to explain what’s going on?”
You both sit on the bed and hold his hands to comfort him, which does the trick.
“You’re going to think I’m crazy, but do you remember when my mom told me Marienne was pregnant and couldn’t stand eggs nor coffee?”
“Yeah.” You answer, and your eyes widen in understanding. “Oh my god. What do you think..”
“I don’t know.” Bradley shakes his head, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. “I don’t know.”
The minutes pass and the both of you gets crazier and crazier; You feel like you're going to tear your hair out in desperation, and Bradley wants to throw up again for the tenth time as he playes with his rings.
There has to be something else, he doesn’t even know how to take care of babies, was it his paternal instinct? no, this is stupid, maybe he’s not going to be a father and he’s just going crazy.
He’s an idiot, now your hopes are up and he doesn't want to have to see the look of disappointment on your perfect face again.
So lost in his thoughts that he doesn't notice you get up from behind him to re-enter the bathroom, slowly reappearing with four tests in your hands, unable to take your eyes off them as you mumble;
“Positive.”
Bradley raised his head as soon as he heard you, his eyes met your now teary ones and he stood up, approaching you, ypu are showing him all the positive lines that showed your baby growing inside you. His fucking wife is pregnant.
You put them down and throw yourself into your husband's arms, clinging to each other, making you both fall backwards onto the bed.
You cry into Bradley's chest while he cries into yours.
You feel like you're going to faint from the tears and sobs pouring out of both of your bodies, a tremendous happiness fills your entire body as millions of things go through your head. Same for him too.
Bradley talks to pregnant women's bellies, Bradley holds a small chubby baby, Bradley plays the piano with a small child, Bradley rocks a baby, Bradley and your babies will be like this.
Sooner or later, it would all come true.
Meanwhile, Bradley is still crying as if he's never cried in his life, you're sitting with him in your arms and he moves his hands between them to rest on your belly. "There's a baby inside," he says, his voice breaking.
You laugh and lean your forehead against his. "There's a baby inside."
Both of you look at each other, your eyes fill with tears and you both start laughing, you kiss, ignoring the salty taste of teardrops. You kiss, trying to convey everything that cannot be expressed in words to each other, but now there is someone who proves that their love is possible.
"A perfect blend of us,there it is." Bradley's and yours belly felt like there were fireworks inside. He can't wait to sing and play the piano to his love's growing belly, to hold that tiny hand.
He just can't wait.
"I love you." He sees the tears continue to flow down your cheeks as you part your lips. "I love you Bradley, we did it."
"We did it." He repeats, squeezing your waist between his hands. "We did it, we're having a baby, I told you."
"I can't believe you found out because I threw up your breakfast."
"Because you would never throw up something I make, I'm an incredible chef."
Both laugh again and Bradley flips both of you over, laying you between him and the bed, laughing at the kisses he spreads across your face, neck, and lifting the robe slightly to reveal the soft skin of your belly.
It was keeping his baby warm in there.
Duke seems to notice the happiness that is coming from the room, he climbs into bed and cuddles up to his mother’s chest, who is happily caressing Bradley's hair and cheeck's.
Bradley kisses the area on your belly as you stroke Duke's scalp, and his tears continue to flow when he sees you talking to Duke about the baby.
He whispers something, but you and maybe someone else can hear him clearly.
“Welcome home, baby. You are already loved.”
“Yeah, I always wanted to have your stupid children.”

Mockingjay - Part 14 (Alternate ending)
Hey, it's me again!
So this is the happy ending. I have to admit that writing this one was way easier than the other one. I hope you will like it too :)
TW : Blood, mention of death and PTSD.
Chapter Before
As they both are talking and fighting, neither Ona nor Tony sees the shape of the person coming next to them. Panting, the silhouette takes some time to take their breath. The fight was hard, as expected. Both Lucy and Kayla come from career districts, they both learned how to fight during their childhood and were almost prepared for the Games.
“Lucy won’t let anything happen to me” Ona states confidently.
She’s sure about what she’s saying, everyone can see it in her eyes. Ona doesn’t blink when she looks at Tony, who seems almost amused by her.
“Do you think so? I don’t see her here for now” he laughs softly.
His laugh is empty, without any fun. He looks like a psychopath in Ona’s mind, but she thinks it’s maybe better not to push him further. He seems close to a mental breakdown.
His hand is shaking when he raises it, showing his sword near Ona’s throat. Ona flinches but doesn’t try to back off. She doesn’t want him to think that he has any power over her.
“I could kill you, right now. She wouldn’t be able to do anything against it.”
He seems so sure of himself, looking at her from above, his smirks talking for him. But Ona has never had so little respect for him since the beginning. The brunette doesn’t even want to fight against him, he’s here standing while she’s sitting on the ground. How can someone’s ego be like this?
“Do you really think so?”
Tony turns around to face the person who just talked and Ona jumps on her feet when she sees them. It’s Lucy. Tony just has time to turn around before being hit right in the face. He falls somewhere near Ona, making her fall back with him.
Ona groans when she hits her head on a tree root, right where she was already hurt. She tries to get away from Tony as fast as possible, but the boy is grabbing her legs for his dear life, trying to drag her to him. But he’s less strong with his arms than he was at the beginning, Ona hurt him there before, and she knows it.
She manages to kick him in the chin, making him go back. Ona goes back on all four, standing again when she thinks that she’s away enough from Tony. He’s bleeding from his mouth and Ona deduces that he might have bitten his tongue.
Just when he was going to jump on Ona, Lucy grabs him by the collar of his jacket.
“Don’t even think about it” she groans, pushing him away.
Lucy is smaller, but Ona has to say that with her anger and the hammer in her hand… She looks impressive. Her green eyes stay on Tony, even when she throws the bow and the arrows at Ona.
But Tony just sneers, arming his hand and his sword before talking again.
“I don’t have any problem to kill you before killing her”
“Aren’t you sick of hearing you?” Lucy snaps.
Ona sees Tony’s face becoming darker, clearly not liking Lucy’s comment. Ona can’t help but smile at Lucy’s comment, the sarcasm of the girl always making her smile. She takes advantage of this little moment to have a better look at her girlfriend. She has blood on her body but doesn’t really seem hurt. She has some cuts on her arms, but nothing seems really bad.
“I’m sick of you” he answers.
Lucy snorts this time, waiting for him to attack first. He’s turning his back to Ona and the younger girl wonders if she should take advantage of it, but it seems to her that Lucy wants to defeat Tony alone. She has something to deal with, beginning with the fact that Tony seems to want what is hers.
The fight starts and is maybe not really fair, Tony has a sword which is longer than Lucy’s hammer, in addition to the fact that he’s bigger and then has bigger movements. But Lucy still manages to hit him several times, using her smaller form to move faster than him.
That was until…
“Wolves!”
Ona scream is a little bit ignored by the two others to be honest, until Lucy spots the urgence in Ona’s voice when she talks again.
“Lucy! Wolves!”
Lucy turns to the direction Ona is pointing, before groaning when Tony takes advantage of it to hit her on the arm. Lucy groans in pain and almost throws her hammer on Tony’s face, helped by the rush of adrenaline.
Just like Ona, she saw the four wolves walking in their direction, in the form of a diamond. They are white and she would probably have found them beautiful if they weren’t explicitly looking for their next meal.
Ona is fully concentrated on the animals, forgetting Tony for several seconds.
Wrong move.
The boy, seeing Ona not far from him, raises his sword once again and hits her right in her stomach. The pain is so intense that Ona isn’t able to say anything. It’s Lucy who screams something that the brunette isn’t able to understand.
She feels someone grabbing her and holding her protectively against their breast, before the person starts to run. Ona doesn’t need a lot of time to recognize Lucy.
“It’s okay, you will be okay” Lucy keeps saying.
Ona doesn’t really understand what is happening when she feels herself being shaken. But she trusts Lucy and if she says that she will be okay, she knows that she will be. It’s only the sound of the canon who makes her open her eyes again.
Her vision is gloomy, but she still can see Lucy’s face right above her very clearly.
“Is he…” she whispers.
“Dead. The wolves…”
Lucy stops her sentence, but she doesn’t have to talk more for Ona to understand. She’s glad that the animals chose the one of the three who will give them the most fresh meat.
“I’m so cold” Ona whispers again.
And it looks like it’s starting to rain. She feels one or two drops of water on her face, seeming strangely hot against her cold skin. But when she looks at Lucy again, she understands. It’s not raining. Lucy is crying.
“I’m dying”
She can only whisper for now, her strength just not here anymore. Lucy shakes her head, but Ona isn’t sure if it’s because she’s answering her that she isn’t, or if Lucy just couldn’t stand the idea.
“It’s okay” Ona whispers. “We are going to be okay”
She concentrates all of her strength to raise her hand and softly strokes Lucy’s face. Lucy kisses her palm softly before pressing her forehead against Ona.
“Remember when I said I couldn’t live somewhere where you aren’t?”
“Yes” Ona breathes softly. “But you promised…”
“I never promised anything” Lucy shakes her head. “We live together, or we die together”
Ona looks at Lucy for several seconds, before nodding softly. She understands. She couldn’t live in a world where Lucy isn’t here either. It must be harder for Lucy; Lucy doesn’t have her family or any friends outside the arena.
“What do you have in mind?” Ona whispers.
“We can jump. Where Teagan…”
Lucy doesn’t finish her sentence, but Ona understands easily. After thinking for some more seconds, Ona nods again.
“I don’t know if I could walk, it’s a little far from here”
“I’ll carry you”
They can’t hear the wolves anymore, but there is no doubt that they are busy with whatever they are doing now. It doesn’t really matter anyway. Very carefully, Lucy picks Ona from the ground to carry her like a just married couple. It makes Ona smile softly, passing her arms around Lucy’s neck.
“I love you” Ona whispers, her face in Lucy’s neck.
“I love you too. So much.”
They stay silent during the walk, Lucy walking slowly. She’s exhausted to be honest and now they know how they will end. Together. They don’t need to rush anything.
“What are you thinking about?” Lucy asks after some minutes.
“My parents. My brother… Aitana, too”
“Do you think they will be together?”
“They better be together already”
Lucy chuckles before kissing softly Ona’s temple. Her mind goes to her family too, wondering what they are thinking about her right now. They probably aren’t proud of her, but she doesn’t care anymore.
Seeming to be able to read in her mind, Ona talks again.
“I’m proud of you, you know?” she whispers.
Lucy hums at first before looking at Ona. The younger one was already looking at her, her chocolate eyes so soft and full of love.
“I’m proud of you too” Lucy says back. “And I’m sure that your parents and the people you love are proud too. Alexia must be really proud too. You kind of win the Games after all.”
“No” Ona shakes her head. “You’re the real winner.”
Lucy rolls her eyes as they get out of the forest. They pass the starting point, Ona looking at the scoreboard. It’s strange to see that only their names are on it now. Lucy killed the most people between them both, but it doesn’t mean anything now. It isn’t important anymore.
“Are you in pain?”
Ona shakes her head once again at Lucy’s question. She feels good and almost safe in Lucy’s arms.
“I always feel better in your arms”
“You don’t need to try to charm me, you know? I’ve been in love with you for a long time already.”
“I’m not trying” Ona mumbles sleepily. “Just telling the truth.”
She takes advantage of being carried by Lucy to look around her, admiring the view for the first time. Before, she was too concentrated on the Games to find something beautiful. She remembers perfectly the building in the north of the arena, giving her a sweet feeling of being back home.
“Don’t fall asleep now, Love. We’re almost there.”
Lucy’s voice kind of wakes Ona up. She opens her eyes with difficulty, but looking at Lucy is enough to help her stay awake.
Lucy was right though, several minutes later, they were standing next to the cliff. Ona’s isn’t sure that it’s exactly where Seth tried to kill her, but the idea is here.
“Are you sure?” Lucy asks one last time.
“More than ever. You?”
“More than ever.”
Lucy smiles softly, looking at Ona with the most tender gaze ever. It makes Ona harder to breathe, and it has nothing to do with her bleeding wound.
“One last kiss?” Ona asks.
Lucy doesn’t even answer, she just softly puts her lips on Ona’s. She couldn’t say how many times they had kissed each other, but it’s still the same feeling. And she loves it.
“At three?” Lucy asks softly.
Ona nods and takes a deep breath. She’s tempted to have a look below, but she chooses to look at Lucy instead. She holds Lucy harder when the other girl starts to count, wanting to be against her as long as possible.
“One”
Lucy takes a few small steps, coming closer to the end of the cliff. Ona can hear the water near them, a sound that she finds almost soothing.
“Two”
Ona keeps looking at Lucy. Her green eyes, her freckles, even if Lucy has way less than her. Lucy is looking at her too, smiling softly. But, just before Lucy says “three”, a deep voice suddenly resonates in the arena.
“NO! STOP!”
********
Awakened by the sun coming right into her eyes, Lucy sits down suddenly in her bed, looking around her, a little lost. The dream she just had is one that she still makes from time to time. But it’s vivid, so real that it catches her every time.
“Ona?”
Next to her the bed is empty, no trace of someone alive there. It makes her heart beat faster and she doesn’t like this feeling.
“Ona?” Lucy calls again, harder this time.
She almost trips in the sheets of her bed when she gets up, and she arrives at the door at the same time as the door is open.
“Ona” Lucy sighs, before taking the younger girl in her arms.
Ona is here, seeming a little surprised by Lucy’s neediness at first before understanding that Lucy probably just had a nightmare. It happens to her too from time to time. Ona passes her arms around Lucy’s, stroking her back with her fingertips.
“You’re here” Lucy mumbles with her face hidden in Ona’s neck.
“I am here” Ona answer softly
They stay like this for a moment, Ona not wanting to break the hug. She feels that Lucy needs it, and she would never refuse a hug or a kiss to Lucy.
“Did you have a nightmare?” Ona asks with empathy.
Lucy only nods, her face still in Ona's neck. Her hairs are tickling the younger one, who has trouble not to laugh about it.
“What can I do for you?”
“Cuddles”
Lucy doesn’t really leave any choice to Ona, grabbing her from the ground to put her on her shoulder until they reach the bed. Then, she throws Ona on it before crawling on the bed too and laying on Ona.
“It’s okay, Baby” Ona says softly, playing with Lucy’s hair.
But Lucy only hums, her fingers following Ona’s scare on her stomach. She still can’t believe their luck sometimes. The organisers let them alive, the two of them. It provoked a lot of trouble for those men, but the fact’s still here. Lucy and Ona are still very alive.
They live together now, in District 8. Lucy went back to her family at first, they needed an answer from the Capitol for their request to live together. They could live in the Capitol, but it was very clear from the beginning that they will go near Ona’s family.
Everything isn’t perfect, to be honest. Lucy still has nightmares, Ona still jumps when she hears a big noise and has sometimes panic attacks too. They are both scared that someone would separate them at some point. Lucy dreams sometimes to run away, but there is nowhere to go. They are way safer here, in the house they built in District 8.
“Alexia’s pregnant” Ona says softly.
“What?”
Lucy raises her head suddenly, looking at her girlfriend with surprise paint on her face. Ona smiles, cupping tenderly Lucy’s cheek.
“Alexia is pregnant. She just told me in the letter I received this morning. The baby is due to spring”
“Pregnant” Lucy whispers, like she never heard of pregnancy before. “Is it a boy or a girl?”
“They don’t know. They want to keep the surprise”
Lucy hums again, looking at Ona’s stomach thoughtfully. They left the arena four years ago and Joan already had a little girl last year. Lucy knows that she told Ona that she doesn’t want a baby, when they were in the Capitol. But right now, she has to admit that she wouldn’t be against that idea. But for that they have to go to the Capitol.
“Maybe we will have one baby too, someday” Lucy says carefully.
She doesn’t miss Ona’s surprised gaze at her. But Ona’s surprise quickly changes to a soft smile, before she grabs her face with her other hand to take her higher to be able to kiss her.
Lucy kisses her back, before kissing her cheek.
“But first I want to marry you” she says against Ona’s skin.
“You know that I’m already yours. All you have to do is ask”
It was true, she was only waiting for Lucy to propose. The dark-haired woman made clear really quickly that she wanted to be the one who would propose to the other. Ona doesn’t mind at all to be honest; she knows how much it means for Lucy.
And she will do so, several months later, after having asked Ona’s father if he would give them his blessing. She will ask Ona in their garden, during one of what they now call “stargazing session”. Of course, Ona’s answer will be yes.
And when they will welcome their little miracle almost three years after the wedding, Lucy knows that her life couldn’t be more perfect.
Perfect life, with her perfect wife whose surname she took. And now their perfect little boy, almost a clone of Ona, with his perfect name.
Jordi Teagan Batlle.

Can you write something about Smoke taking care of their s/o who tried to hide their injury from a mission they just got back from?
Tomas’ trained eye noticed that something was wrong the moment you came back from your most recent mission. He was for certain that you were injured in some shape or form with the way you’d put extreme caution and thought into almost everything you did to throw him off your trail. But unfortunately your body tended to give away what was wrong with you with how your muscles would flinch or twitch in pain, or how your hand would immediately fly to your injured side after a fit of pained laughter.
Tomas wasn’t oblivious to the efforts you put into withholding your winces and groans of pain, thinking he was none the wiser but her was very much aware of the situation, seeing how you indirectly let on more then you probably thought. So getting you to sit down and allow him to take care of your wounds didn’t take Tomas long as he now finds himself stood in between your legs, one hand holding your head in place whilst the other worked in clearing the gashes you had scattered across your face with an look of intensity on his face.
‘Why didn’t you say anything before, why couldn’t you come to me when you’re hurt instead of having me to hunt you down and patch you up myself?’ Tomas broke the silence, only to hear your scoff.
‘You could tell that I was injured the moment I walked through that door Tomas. You saw through my bullshit attempt to not make you worry about my condition. I genuinely thought I could handle it myself because you’ve already go so much on your plate that I didn’t want to add onto it with some minor scratches and possible bruised ribs.’ You replied, wincing slightly as Tomas sighed at your reasoning.
He wanted you to rely on him when it mattered most, to know that you could go to him no matter what because what he wanted to be to you was a safe haven where you could be vulnerable without fear of judgment or shame. He wanted to be a place for you to rest your weary head upon and allow him to take of you, but you were about as stubborn as an old mule and tended to make things a lot more difficult for yourself. Almost as though you were trying to prove something when you didn’t need to, at least Tomas doesn’t think you need to prove anything to anyone.
‘Just because I can read you better than anyone else doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t tell me when you’re hurting.’ Tomas said, sighing. ‘I’d like to think that after awhile you’d trust me enough to talk to me about these kinds of things. And besides you shouldn’t have to feel bad about bothering me because you know that I’d drop everything for you, no matter the scolding that i will be on the receiving end of.’ He adds with a little laugh, finishing clearing up one of your wounds, covering it up before moving onto the next wound at your cheek, all whilst remembering to keep a steady hand.
‘I do trust you.’ You defended yourself and Tomas looked into your eyes with brows raised in skepticism and you couldn’t help but double down. ‘Don’t give me that look, I do trust you Tomas it’s just-‘
‘You wanted to deal with it yourself?’ He finished for you and you sighed.
‘Yeah. I wanted to deal with it myself, they’re my wounds to lick, not yours Tomas but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate everything you’ve done for me thus far.’ You told him, wincing again as he patched up another gash that was on your chin, but managed to smile through the brief moment of pain. ‘Sometimes I think that I take advantage of your kindness sometimes.’ You admitted as Tomas scoffs as he gently rests his forehead to yours as to not irritate the healing wounds.
‘That’s a bunch of lies and we both know it.’ He says as he presses a tiny kiss to your nose. ‘Now will you please let your personal doctor work.’ He adds teasingly as you let out a little chuckle and allowed him to continue patching you up for the rest of the evening.

RGG | Unhealthy Relationship Traits | VARIOUS
Well, they're far from perfect...
Characters: Masato Aizawa, Akira Nishikiyama(x2), Reina, Osamu Kashiwagi, Kaoru Sayama, Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Majima, Taiga Saejima, Shun Akiyama + Masaharu Kaito & Takayuki Yagami | GN! Reader
Rating: GEN
A/N: Feel free to disagree. I don't claim to know it all and I'm not trying to tear down anyone's fave. I know with xreader type stuff, I sorta tend to overly romanticize our faves but I also get a lot of enjoyment out of thinking about ways they could fail. Rounding them out. I try to acknowledge that they're individuals who are less than perfect and deeply flawed despite trying their best.
MASATO AIZAWA
Codependency. When he gets attached to someone, he sort of wraps himself up in them. They become almost one and the same. If he’s in need of reason, they’re the only person he listens to. His biggest fear, whether he admits it or not, is losing that person. He often acts off impulse and so, he desperately needs an anchor. Without it, he would spiral out of control for a while until he can find himself again.
AKIRA NISHIKIYAMA (Y0)
Jealousy. He’s about ready to come to blows if he suspects certain people are checking his s/o out. He gets pissy if he thinks that his partner is “too friendly” with someone else and will accuse them of flirting. If they’re out together, he may let them leave his side but they won’t be out of his sight for long. He wants his partner to succeed but not so much that he deems they’re doing better than him– or rather, they’d be better off without him. He doesn’t even like the idea of his partner making more than him.
AKIRA NISHIKIYAMA (K)
Trust Issues. Even if he knew that his s/o was someone who is incapable of lying, he’d still be hard pressed to take everything they do or say in stride without scrutinizing it. He thinks they’re only telling half truths. He doesn’t believe that they want to be with him and are only there until they’ve taken what they can get. He snoops. He questions. He has them followed under the guise of protecting them, meanwhile, his men are reporting each detail back to him– no matter how mundane.
REINA
Conflict Avoidant. She used to be more upfront about her feelings but now, she hesitates to even acknowledge to herself that she’s upset or hurt. She hesitates to issue blame and tries to rectify issues on her own. She’s more likely to accept fault, even when it’s glaringly obvious that she’s not the issue. It’s easier for her to beat herself up for doing something wrong to make her partner behave or react poorly than it is for her to tell them that they’re wrong. She allows her grievances to build up until she’s unable to take it anymore and instead of finally addressing it, she will simply check out.
OSAMU KASHIWAGI
Poor communication. In one world, he’s used to settling his problems with his fists but in the one he shares with his s/o, that’s out of the question. On the one hand, he’s fairly pragmatic but when it comes to his love life, he doesn’t know how to use his words. Or rather, he does know how but he just assumes that if he throws enough hints, he won’t have to. He can be passive aggressive sometimes. He’s even got a bad habit of stonewalling his partner instead of just discussing whatever issues may be afoot.
KAORU SAYAMA
Stubbornness. She has difficulty admitting when she needs help. She has difficulty admitting when she’s wrong. She struggles to apologize. She’s so headstrong that it can be her greatest detriment. She has the self awareness to understand whatever situation she’s in, but she’s hesitant to admit the fact that she’s flawed. It takes a lot of build up for her to open her mouth, be it to ask for help or to say she’s sorry.
KAZUMA KIRYU
Avoidant. The amount of conflicts he thinks can be resolved simply by walking away should be studied. He will humor his s/o with maybe 10-15 minutes of a serious argument before he packs his things and leaves to ‘clear his head’. Sometimes he’s gone for merely hours, others he’s gone for days, to the point that they’ll begin to wonder if he’s even going to come back. He’s not proud of it but he thinks that that’s the best way to keep from hurting/upsetting his partner more than he already has. He’ll promise not to walk away then break that promise not much long after.
GORO MAJIMA
Disrespectful. He can be mean. His s/o could truly be the center of his world. If he was put in a position where he had to lose his only eye in order to keep them safe, he likely wouldn’t hesitate but that doesn’t change how horrible he can be when he’s upset. Thankfully, it takes a lot to get him to that point but he’s got a nasty mean streak when it suits him. His insults can be laced with venom. He says things that will stick, even long after he’s apologized for it and the craziest thing? So often, he doesn’t even mean what he’s said. It was simply the heat of the moment.
TAIGA SAEJIMA
Disinterest in Change. He doesn’t realize how stubborn he is until he’s sitting next to his partner who is pleading with him to make changes. As much as he hates to admit it, he’s got a bit of a complacency streak. He just gets so comfortable that the idea of doing things any differently sort of bothers him. He’s a firm believer of if something ain’t broke, dont fix it.
SHUN AKIYAMA
Wandering Eye. If someone catches his eye, he wouldn’t fight his natural instinct to check them out. As far as he’s concerned, so long as he doesn’t do anything about his attraction to other people, it doesn’t really count. He could be hand in hand with his s/o and damn near break his neck watching an attractive passerby. If his partner communicates that this makes them uncomfortable, he’ll have a difficult time empathizing because he thinks that looking is natural and being upset by it speaks to insecurity rather than it actually being wrong.
KAITO MASAHARU
Overprotective. He trusts his s/o but it’s other people he feels he has to watch out for. Even if his partner has asked him to relax and attempted to assure him that they can handle themselves, he’s still going to keep an eye out. His protectiveness can be both endearing and overbearing. It’s not uncommon for a situation to escalate simply because he felt it necessary to intervene when it wasn’t. Impulse takes over and all he’s got at the forefront of his mind is that his s/o is in trouble and he’s not going to wait around for someone else to be the hero.
TAKAYUKI YAGAMI
Boundary Overstepping. He can’t handle not knowing things. Being in the dark irks him both personally and professionally. If he ever feels like his s/o is hiding something from him, he will get to the bottom of it. He pokes and prods and pries. Many times he doesn’t even realize that he’s overstepping until his partner is (rightfully) lashing out at him for not minding his business. In his mind, he’s an open book with nothing to hide and he can’t fathom why his partner wouldn’t be the same.

Scout unspoken character development.
So you remember how Scout was absolutely struggling to work out how to ask Pauling on a date, and didn’t have the confidence he needed to do it properly? In Expiration Date?
*loud silence*
It makes sense that he’d struggle, because dating requires you to be more vulnerable emotionally and that’s like the last thing he ever wanted to do growing up. His brothers saw being emotional as a weakness, and he still thinks like that because those were his role models.
That’s why he didn’t help Spy with the last wishes. He’s still got that mentality that he’ll be seen as weak if he admits that dying in three days bothers him. But if he makes fun of Spy in front of the boys, Spy’ll be the one seen as weak, not him.
To date somebody, you have to admit that you’re attracted to them, if not in love. He can’t admit that part, which is why he tries to be causal about asking Pauling out.
Like, even when he can tell that he made Spy furious, the awkwardness of that emotional situation makes him try to laugh it off and stay casual, not give him pause.
How much you wanna bet that “I’m sorry”, usually said sarcastically or with fake sincerity is the best he’d get from any of his brothers growing up? No discussion beyond that about what the brother should be sorry for, just “I’m sorry” because Ma is making me apologize.
That’s why he just moved on with his request for help, instead of going into a deeper apology and acknowledging why Spy is upset. He doesn’t know how. He doesn’t know that you’re actually supposed to, and he’s not a weakling for feeling that way.
He can’t accept the weakness of being bad with women, even though that’s why he’s in the smoking room asking for advice. That’s why he lies about the ratchet girl at the chicken place, who probably never existed.
What’s interesting is that the only thing he retained from his dad’s training was the dancing, which is an expression of emotions. He started out doing a casual, cheery boomer dance that doesn’t require a partner, with no risk of hurting somebody else if you mess up. But the dance Spy taught him requires you to be careful and move with another person, and is a lot more romantic.
But we know that music is something he loves, to the point that he hopes his favorite musician is secretly his dad.
But that’s not the only important development he makes in this short.
Scout doesn’t know how to respond to that, because if he ever tried to bring up what one of his siblings did to make him upset, they’d just laugh at him or say “I said sorry, what else do you want?”. But he cares about this woman and how she feels, so when she brings up what he did to make him say more than sorry, he can’t just move past it like he normally does.
He got so close to spitting it out! But what we did get is good progress, because he had to be more honest than usual. If she was paying even the slightest bit of attention to him, she’d be able to see what he’s trying to say.
He’s trying so hard, she doesn’t even know. I hope that someday he finds a girl that does like him, because she sure as heck doesn’t.
What’s interesting is that we have voicelines that imply he’s getting less uncomfortable flirting, even if it’s in his usual Scout way.
youtube
He didn’t act ready to take his shirt off around her in Expiration Date. That’s Scout getting more comfortable around her. So is him playing her dorky board game that his brother’s would clown him for looking at.
You have to remember, Scout is the youngest and considered the runt of the litter by his stupid siblings. He acts like he likes the way his arms look in Meet the Scout and talking to Spy in the smoking room, but he’s always comparing himself to other guys. He wouldn’t take that shirt off around most people, is what I’m saying.
youtube
I hope someday Scout goes through the character development he needs to find a real girlfriend that likes him. [And also not rely on physique as a tool for flirting].

I’m so lucky
Summary: The reader comes back to the compound to find an angry Klaus waiting for her.
(The reader is 18+ and uses she/her pronouns. The ethnicity/race is preferably black.)
Bloody 2 in the morning, Klaus mentally grumbled, as he continued to read from his book on the couch. Or at least, he tried to read from his book. His mind was racing with different thoughts of what you could be doing, and none of them were comforting in the slightest. "Who does she think she is," he muttered to himself, turning a page.
"Well, I think she's a woman, not a child."
He didn't have to look up from his book to know that the statement came from Elijah and that his brother more than likely had an amused grin upon his face as he entered the room. "Has she not returned yet?" He asked, sitting down on the couch across from Klaus, amused at his brother's annoyance.
"No, she hasn't. Not one call or text." He tried to keep his annoyance out of his voice as he turned a page, not registering any of the words on it.
"She has to put up with this family and you, Niklaus. She deserves a night out."
"A night out ends when night ends," Klaus responded, giving up on reading his book and slamming it shut. "It is past midnight and now morning. She should be home."
Grinning, Elijah tried to not chuckle at his brother's frustration, but couldn't help letting a bit of it slip out which quickly caught the angry hybrid's attention.
"You find the worry for my love funny, Elijah," His voice began to rise as he watched the grin on Elijah's face grow.
"What I find funny, brother, is you forget that (Y/N) is a woman, not a child, who doesn't need your permission or approval on how late she returns. She can take care of herself."
"Always the feminist, Elijah," Klaus remarked, rolling his eyes. He took out his phone for the ninth time that night and checked the time again. Only 2:20. I'll leave and find her when its 2:30.
Even though Elijah was annoying him with his amusement, he knew that his older brother was right. At the beginning of your relationship, you made him agree that he wouldn't try to control you or become overprotective of you and let you have your freedom and at the time, he completely agreed, but he didn't think that that freedom involved you hanging out with your friends all night, leaving him worried. Each second that passed, he began to get more and more paranoid that something bad had happened to you.
"Let her enjoy a night out away from your scheming. She deserves it."
Yes, she does, Klaus mentally agreed, sighing.
"Yes. I admit she-"
The sound of a distant giggle stopped him and he quickly stood up from the couch and left the room to see you entering the compound, drunk and barefoot, holding the heels you were wearing earlier in your hand.
You were tiptoeing, letting out little giggles as you tried to be quiet. Your appearance was not that different from when you left, but Klaus could still spot a light sheen of sweat on your skin from all the dancing you did. Even though Klaus was ecstatic to see you again and to see you completely fine, he couldn't help but let his anger get the best of him as he made his way to you.
"Do you know what time it is," Klaus asked, his footsteps hurrying over to you with an angry frown upon his face.
Anyone else, when seeing that look on him, would have instantly become scared and begun cowering and apologizing, but not you. Even in your drunken state, you knew that Klaus would never hurt you and because of the alcohol still in your system, the only response you gave to his angry question was another giggle.
"You had me worried me sick," he continued, taking your heels out of your hand and placing his hand in yours. "Let's go to bed." He began pulling you in the direction of the stairs, but you quickly pulled your hand from his and hurried off to the kitchen.
"(Y/N)," he groaned, speeding after you and stopping in front of you before you could fully enter the kitchen.
"I'm hungry," you whined drunkenly. "I want a sandwich."
"You'll get your sandwich when you go to bed," he told you, ignoring the pout that grew onto your face at his words. He turned you around and gently nudged you to leave. "Go on."
Groaning, you took slow, sad steps towards the stairs, looking over your shoulder still pouting, giving him the best puppy dog eyes that you could make in your state.
"Love, go on," Klaus urged, trying to not to smile and give in to your pouting.
"I'm going," You said angrily, quickening your steps.
You didn't know it, but the look in Klaus' eyes as he watched you drunkenly walked barefoot to the room screamed nothing but love.
"I take it she had fun," the voice of his brother made him turn his eyes away from you (something he absolutely hated) and turned them on Elijah who looked at him, still amused.
"Yes, she did," Klaus sighed before turning around and entering the kitchen, placing your heels on the edge of the counter.
"What're you doing," Elijah asked, following him and taking a seat at the counter.
"Making the silly, drunk girl a sandwich."
His answer made Elijah smile even wider as he watched Klaus begin to pull out slices of bread and bologna and other things. Finally Niklaus has found his true love.
~
“Oh,” you groaned, opening your eyes and lifting your head. It was pounding terribly and you felt that your eyes were sore and heavy, even after waking up from sleep. Sitting up, you pushed the cover off your body, about to stand up, when you had to stop yourself, feeling an unpleasant rumbling in your stomach.
Shit, you thought, placing a hand on your stomach. Another rumble made you get up from the bed, and run to the bathroom, quickly lifting the lid, and emptying your stomach of all contents from last night.
You were too busy vomiting that you didn’t hear Klaus enter the bathroom. The sudden feeling of fingers in your hair and lifting it from your face made you look up to see your hybrid lover looking down at you with concern.
“You alright, love,” he asked.
Seeing you nod, he grabbed some toilet tissue and wiped your face clean of any left over vomit, then flushed it. Gently holding your arm, he lifted you from the floor and walked you back to the bed, where he placed you on the bed. Before you could do it, he pulled the covers up and around you and you found that your sore eyes were beginning to feel heavy.
“Take this love,” he told you and you opened your eyes to see him holding a pill in one hand and a glass of water in another.
“What is it?”
“For your head.”
You picked it up and placed it in your mouth and drank the water, swallowing it with a wince as your throat now felt sore.
“If you’re hungry, your sandwich is right there,” he told you pointing to beside you, and you looked over and saw sitting on the bedside table was the sandwich your drunkenly requested last night.
I must’ve fell asleep, ‘fore I could eat it. Klaus lightly placed his hand onto your forehead, getting your attention and making you turn back to him.
“If you need me, I’ll be painting in the other room. Just say my name and I’ll come.”
With a kiss on your forehead and another look of love at you, he left your side and exited the room, leaving the door open to hear you.
Feeling your eyes get heavier and heavier, you began to slowly drift into sleep and as you did, you couldn’t control the smile that spread across your face as you thought of your boyfriend. Fuck, I’m so lucky.

Addiction (noun): Disorder characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences
“You’re a dumbass, you know that right?”
“Yeah, you’ve mentioned it. I know I fucked up. I don’t even know what to say to her anymore.”
Chanyeol let out a long sigh, trying to muster up some sympathy for his friend's predicament, but finding it quite difficult. He’d seen it coming, more or less. Something terrible was bound to happen with how reckless Baekhyun was being. He took a sip of his beer before setting it back down on the bar, doing his best to at least look sorry for his friend when he glanced back at him.
“You’ve tried calling her right?”
“No, well not since that day at least. I don’t know if I should. Her friend told me not to, and I get it. But I really do want to see her again, and apologize.”
The whole time Baekhyun stared, seemingly into nothingness. He hated how much he missed her, even after only a few days.
“You should at least call to apologize, you owe her that much.”
“What if she doesn’t want to hear from me at all? I don’t want to make things even worse.”
“Just call. The worst she can do is not pick up.”
“And if she does? What would I even say?”
“The truth.”
“No fucking way.”
“You’re an idiot.”
“You don’t say.”
Baekhyun chugged down his drink, getting the bartender's attention and ordering another round. He was already drunk, but it still wasn’t enough to erase what he felt.
“Why did you freak out so bad? I mean she told you she didn’t mean it. I know acid is one hell of a drug but jesus. You were way too goddamn harsh.”
“I almost said it back.” He responded, staring blankly at the counter before him.
Chanyeol's eyes went wide.
“I was so upset that that even crossed my mind. And if I had said it, who fucking knows what would’ve happened.”
“Well, do you?”
Baekhyun just glared at him, refusing to say anything.
“You clearly care about her a lot, I don’t know why you can’t just admit that. I think she could be really good for you, if you just got over your own bullshit.”
Baekhyun leaned forward until his forehead was on the bar, both hands on the back of his neck. He couldn’t remember ever resenting himself so deeply, and that was saying something.
Chanyeol was right, and they both knew it.
The guilt made it hard to do anything more than drink himself into numbness. He'd probably ruined any chance he had at something real with her, even if that in itself also made him uncomfortable. As much as he wanted to try and fix things, he knew deep down that he'd probably just end up hurting her again anyway. In the end though, the side of him that still wanted her was much stronger, and far less rational.
Every time he thought about that day, and how she must've felt after he kicked her out of his apartment, his chest would get tight, the dread quickly becoming more than he could handle. He’d had an awful time himself, the trip turning downright terrifying, and he’d been inside his own apartment the whole time. Outside, alone, she must’ve felt she was in a living nightmare. He was disgusted with himself, with how cruel he’d become, and all because of a few words that she didn’t even mean.
Eventually he decided that it would be worse not to say anything. Even if she didn’t want to hear from him, he had to at least try to tell her how sorry he was, otherwise the guilt would keep chipping away at his sanity until it consumed him whole.
It took a while for him to get to the point where he actually had the strength to pick up the phone and pull up her contact. Even then, he just sat in his apartment, staring at his phone, debating with himself. He wasn’t sure what made him more nervous, the idea of talking to her after he’d fucked up so badly, or the very real possibility that she would simply decline the call all together. Losing her completely was more terrifying than he was willing to admit to himself.
Finally, he called. His heart thumped rapidly in his chest as he listened to it ring, trying to take deep breaths to calm himself with little success. When she picked up, his heart nearly stopped. He tried to say something, but his voice failed him.
“Baekhyun?”
“Hi.” He eventually managed to get out, painfully aware of how stupid he sounded. He took another deep breath, finally gathering himself a bit before continuing. “I’m so, so sorry.”
She didn’t say anything. She could hear the lack of consistency in his voice.
“I don’t know what to say, I’m just so fucking sorry. I know I fucked up.”
“Why?”
“Huh?”
“Why did you kick me out?”
“I don’t know.”
He heard her sigh in disappointment. It was a lie of course, but he couldn’t bring himself to tell her the truth.
“Look, I appreciate the apology, but I really don’t want to do this over the phone. If you have anything you need to say to me, I’d rather hear it in person.”
She hung up before he could respond, and he wasted no time getting into his car to drive to her place.
Her pain had been unbearable. Even after several days sober his harshness stayed with her, bringing with it a constant dull ache in her chest. She barely ate or slept, but knowing that he at least seemed to feel bad about what he’d done gave her a bit of relief.
Despite Suhyun’s insistence that she cut him off completely, she’d still been waiting, hoping to hear something. She wanted an apology, an explanation, something that would help her feel a bit better, and she wanted him to look her in the eyes as he said it.
The knock on her door, not even 30 minutes after hanging up the phone, came as a shock.
On the other side, Baekhyun worried he might actually pass out. He assumed that she would tell him how awful he was and then send him right back home, and he thought he was mentally prepared for that, but once he was actually there he realized how wrong he’d been. The ground seemed to sway beneath him, his stomach twisting, threatening to expel the lunch he'd just had.
The door swung open and they met eyes, Baekhyun bracing himself for the worst.
She let him in, and his expression was something she’d never seen before. His eyes were glassy, the anxiety behind them clear as day. She could see the nervous tension in the way he fidgeted, hands clammy, heart racing.
His eyes squeezed shut, and he mustered up all the courage he could, though still feeling utterly pitiful.
“I know you probably hate me and never want to see me again, but I need you to know how awful I feel about what I did. I can’t even put into words how sorry I am.” He eventually said, barely keeping it together.
To his shock, she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.
Tears soon dampened her forehead, feeling the quiet tremors of his chest as he fell apart. He held her close, cradling her against his chest, the closeness allowing his body to fully relax for the first time in nearly a week. Somehow though, he felt even guiltier than if she’d told him off, at least he would've deserved that.
As hurt as she might’ve been, she’d still missed him. That day, before everything went downhill, he'd shown her a kind of happiness she hadn’t even known was possible. And even before that, when she was with him, the good moments were so powerful that they easily overshadowed all the bad. Nobody else had ever made her feel that before.
She didn’t want whatever they had to end, even though she knew logically that it would be idiotic to forgive him after he’d been so cruel. She cared about him too much, she was too attached, she still wanted him despite it all, and that was probably the worst part. Despite how terrible he'd made her feel that day, the potential for good was still there. The good times she'd had with him were some of the best of her life, and giving that up wasn't easy. For her, it was impossible. The highs were so high, that the lows were somehow still worth dealing with.
It didn’t make sense, he'd been absolutely certain that she'd be furious.
“How do you not hate me right now? Are you really not mad at me?”
She looked up at him, one hand coming to cup his damp cheek, tears of her own coming to mirror his. It was strange to see him of all people cry, but oddly comforting, too. It told her just how much he regretted what he’d done, that he cared, that he hated how badly he’d hurt her. He’d never shown that sort of vulnerability before, the cool facade he usually put on, now completely shattered. It gave her the reassurance she'd been craving so badly. Maybe forgiving him wouldn't be so dumb after all, since he'd hopefully never hurt her like that again.
“I don’t hate you. I’m just glad you’re sorry, I was so worried that you were still mad at me, since I didn’t hear from you. I thought I ruined everything.”
He quickly shook his head. “Of course I’m not mad at you, if anyone ruined anything it was me. I never had a right to be angry with you in the first place, I was being completely awful and irrational.”
She couldn’t help the small smile that crept its way onto her lips, finally assured that he didn’t harbor any resentment towards her for what she’d said, that he felt genuine remorse.
“I was afraid to call after that day because I wasn’t sure if you even wanted to hear from me, or if it would be best to just leave you alone. Your friend told me not to contact you, and I can see where she’s coming from.”
“When did you talk to my friend?”
“I called you later that day. Once I snapped out of my own bullshit I realized how unsafe it was for you to be outside alone like that and I wanted to make sure you were okay, and apologize. She answered and told me not to contact you anymore, that I’ve fucked up your life enough already, and she’s probably right about that.”
“She never even mentioned that you called.” She pouted, making a mental note to call Suhyun out next time they met up.
“I’m glad she was there. I was so scared something happened to you, at least when she picked up I knew you were safe.”
“You know, I might not hate you, but I am still mad at you. I wish you could at least tell me why you reacted like that.”
As forgiving as she was, the awfulness of that day was impossible to forget. The drug caused her fear and confusion to materialize in everything she saw, victimizing her until the high eventually faded, and the horror of it stuck with her. That was something she couldn't let go so easily.
He ran one hand through his hair, and when he didn’t answer right away she pulled him along with her to sit down on the couch.
“I wish I could explain it to you, something in me just.. snapped. There’s a reason I don’t do relationships, that kind of stuff, it fucks with my head.”
She swallowed, painfully reminded of that hard truth. “Why?”
He shook his head, if he tried to explain everything they’d probably be there all day, and she’d never be able to see him the same way again. He wouldn’t be able to get it all out without more tears, either. That was a can of worms he just couldn’t get into.
“You should’ve taken it as a compliment you know, you fucked me so good I thought I was in love with you.”
He forced a smile, but even that caused something unpleasant to twist up inside him.
“If there’s anything I can do to make it up to you, just tell me and I’ll do it.”
She shrugged. It was clear that he'd never be able to give her what she really wanted anyway.
Still, at least he cared for her. He wouldn't have gotten so emotional if she didn't mean something to him.
“Are you busy today?” He asked.
“Not really, no.”
“I could order us something to eat, or we could go somewhere, whatever you want. I just- I missed you.”
‘I missed you.’
Even if it would be short lived, she wanted to enjoy the new sensitivity he was finally showing her, so she agreed.
They stayed at her place, ordering in and opening up a bottle of wine. It wasn’t long at all until they both settled comfortably into the couch, still more relieved than anything. She’d missed him just as much.
She’d grown used to the confident, wild, sexy side of him, but now, something about him felt fundamentally different. Maybe it was the fact that she’d seen him cry, but whatever it was, it felt warmer, softer, a side of him she knew very few people got to see.
They spent hours on her couch together in comfortable silence, the show on the TV long forgotten as they kissed and held each other. She’d laid herself atop his chest, one hand landing on her waist, and the other at the nape of her neck, keeping her lips glued to his own.
His touch was gentle, enjoying the warmth and softness of her skin after having missed her so much. The path his hands took across her back, shoulders, and neck full of adoration. He never ventured any further, because it didn't feel appropriate, he didn't want her to think that he'd only come back for sex. Just getting to kiss and touch her again already felt like a small miracle.
However that didn't stop his body from reacting to her, now that she lay flush to his chest between his parted legs. As she deepened the kisses her body sunk into him even further, and she felt the line of hardness beneath his sweats. When she rocked her pelvis into him, he let out a groan, hands holding firmly onto her hips.
“Fuck, don't do that.”
Their eyes met, and she pouted at him, “Why not?”
“I don't think this is a good idea, I came over here to apologize, not try to get you to sleep with me again.”
As he spoke her lips attached themselves to his neck, leaving a path of soft kisses from his jaw down to the collar of his shirt. “And if I want to anyway?”
She pulled his shirt down a bit and sucked on the skin of his collarbone, eliciting another moan.
“You're sure about this?”
“You said you wanted to make it up to me, right?”
Part of her was skeptical, too, but as always, her desire for him overpowered any trace of caution. His touch, his voice, it all drew her in beyond the bounds of reason. She just wanted to feel close to him. Laying there together innocently had been nice, but she inevitably slipped into more troublesome desires.
Baekhyun didn't respond, instead, his hands finally slid beneath the threshold of her clothes. The warmth of her skin beneath his hands caused him to sigh. He, too, had missed this.
The sex felt like an apology. Where he’d been hungry, even desperate, in the past, he now took his time. It wasn’t one night stand sex, or even meaningless fling sex. It was the kind of sex that happens when two people know and care about each other. She let him set the pace, and he decided to be slow and intentional, he set that tone. The praises that passed his lips lost their teasing edge, his gratitude stronger than his usual desire to frustrate her. More than anything he wanted to savor this, to show her his devotion the only way he knew how.
Several orgasms later, they both collapsed into a pile of tangled, sweaty limbs on her couch. Baekhyun still refused to let go, keeping her in his arms for as long as she would allow, which turned out to be a good long while, much to his delight.
Baekhyun hadn’t intended to spend the entire day with her in such a way, he was just so relieved that she didn’t hate him. Somehow his head ended up on her lap, and when she began to play with his hair, a satisfied sigh left him. He'd always loved the feeling, and how easily it would relax him.
Several sleepless nights had left him exhausted, and as her hands stayed in his hair, he drifted off to sleep, resting more peacefully than he had in a long time.
His sleeping face brought a smile to her own. She didn’t move, letting him use her as a pillow and nap through the afternoon. Every once in a while she would notice a change in his expression, brows knit in what seemed like distress, and she wondered what he could be dreaming about. So much of his mind was still a mystery to her, one that she desperately wanted to solve.
When he eventually woke back up it was already dark outside, and he figured it was time to head home. He didn't want to leave, and even thought about asking her to let him spend the night, but after everything it just didn't feel right. He didn't want to overstay his welcome.
“Has anyone talked to you about the anniversary party yet?” He asked as he got his things together.
She shook her head.
“It’s a fairly big thing the company does every year, it’s mostly for artists and higher ups, and I know I’m going, so I was wondering if you wanted to come as my date?”
‘Date’
That one word was so unexpected coming from him, she found herself momentarily frozen.
“Uh.. sure, yeah. When is it?”
He told her the details, and she still couldn't shake the implications of that one word. She didn't want to get her hopes up, but she wondered if maybe he was finally ready to at least hint at something more serious between them.
The day of he picked her up as usual, noticing the fitted suit he wore as she got into his car. She knew it was a rather formal affair, but he looked so handsome, she still became a little nervous.
“You look beautiful,” He murmured, looking her up and down before leaning in for a quick kiss.
The event was held in the largest ballroom of a luxury hotel full of opulent decorations, and even had a gorgeous outdoor area lit up for the approaching holidays. She'd worn one of her favorite dresses, but even so, she felt a little silly walking in together, arm in arm with him. The guest list was full of a-list celebrities, both from their company, as well as some others, along with various executives. She felt all the familiar uncertainties from the first night she'd met him rush back.
He must've sensed how tense she became, squeezing her hand and giving her a reassuring smile. The softness of it had her leaning further into him.
She looked up at him, his profile outlined by the lights of the party, and she remembered just who she was there with. And not only that, but he'd said it himself, she was his date.
It emboldened her, knowing that no matter Baekhyun's history or reputation, she was the one on his arm, and the one he’d be going home with after.
They headed towards the bar for a drink, and she still remained quiet, too deep in thought to get anything out.
“You don’t have to be nervous,” He told her, “let's just try to have a good time, yeah?”
He pulled out a chair for her and they took a seat, each ordering their first round of the night. Baekhyun did his best to lighten the mood, complimenting her, joking around and flirting all in an attempt to see her smile. And it worked for the most part, though the constant interruptions always pulled her right back into her insecurities.
Every few minutes someone would come up to him, and he would talk to them as if she wasn't even there. By the third time, she started to wonder why she'd been invited at all.
She'd been zoning out, staring at the array of bottles behind the bar when she heard her name. When she looked up, she saw a familiar face.
Joohyun. The same woman he'd ditched her for at Chanyeol’s birthday.
Baekhyun had introduced her, and Joohyun raised an eyebrow at the sight of them.
“You're here together?” Joohyun asked, a glimpse of something sinister in her eyes. Her face, beautiful as she was, did little to hide the ugliness apparent underneath.
She started to nod but Baekhyun spoke up first. “We're just friends.”
Joohyun smirked, letting her hand rest on his shoulder. “Well, it's always good to see you.”
She turned to walk away, and as Baekhyun looked back at his date, it became apparent how pissed she was.
She chugged down the rest of her drink, slamming the glass down on the bar and getting up. Baekhyun rolled his eyes, following her.
“Really _____?”
“Excuse me?”
“I can see you're mad, don't you think you're being a little dramatic?”
“I thought I was your date! We sure as hell aren't just friends, and for you to say that to her of all people? After what happened on Chanyeol’s birthday? Really?”
“What else would we be if not friends, hm? As far as I'm concerned we are just friends.”
“I know you care about me as more than a friend”
He narrowed his eyes at her, a bitter look overtaking his face. “Do I?”
She scoffed, “You're unbelievable.”
With that she turned, walking away but he took hold of her wrist, pulling her back towards him. “Where do you think you're going?”
“Home. I don't want to be here anymore.”
“No the fuck you're not.”
“Baekhyun, let go of me.”
He didn’t. “You’re being ridiculous.”
“No. I’m sick of you being hot and cold with me. You don’t get to treat me like that.”
His grip on her gave way, but she didn’t leave yet. His lips pressed together as his eyes squeezed shut, a heavy sigh leaving him.
“Okay. I get it. But please, stay. You don't have to talk to me. Just let me take you home later.”
“Take me home with you? Seriously?”
“It doesn’t have to be with me. I can just drop you off.”
She glared at him, almost scoffing again, but decided to just turn and walk away. When he took hold of her arm again, she glared. “If I’m staying, you could at least let me get another drink.”
He watched her sit down by herself, ordering something that looked strong.
As she sipped on her drink, she scanned the room, hoping she'd at least recognize someone. She'd almost given up, accepting that she'd probably end up drinking alone until Baekhyun was ready to go, but then she felt a tap on her shoulder.
Chanyoel’s smile was a welcome sight, as he sat himself down next to her at the bar.
“Hi! How are you? Are you here with Baekhyun?” He asked.
“Hi, yeah. Unfortunately.”
“Why's that unfortunate?”
She shook her head, “You were right about him, I fear.”
Chanyeol hummed in acknowledgment, it wasn't hard for him to imagine what could be going on.
“He's being an ass?”
“Yeah. I just don't get it. One day he's being really sweet, and then he turns around and acts like that was all bullshit. I'm tired of it. I wanted to go home, but for some reason he wants me to stay.”
“So? You can still leave. Who cares what he wants.”
She took a long sip of her drink.
“I don't want to make him mad.”
Chanyeol looked a bit confused, but still nodded. “Well, I'm here if you want company. It's a great party, it would be a shame to spend the whole night sulking at the bar.”
“Thank you.”
Soon his drink arrived, and he clinked the glass against hers.
Baekhyun was nowhere to be seen as the two made light conversation, and she was grateful to take her mind off him for a bit.
Chanyeol, now a bit tipsy, and knowing well that she wasn't pleased with his friend, seized the opportunity. He wasn't usually much of a flirt, but with her it came easily.
His compliments cheered her up enough that eventually even his dumb jokes brought a smile to her face. When both drinks were gone and he asked her to dance, she gladly accepted.
They stood, but he pulled her aside before they could make it to the dance floor. Now that they had a bit more privacy, he pulled something out of his pocket.
Pills. The same ones from the night of his birthday.
“Do you want one?” He asked, popping one for himself. She considered it for a moment, and with the night being fairly young, and Baekhyun still lingering in the back of her mind, she decided to go for it. His being a jerk didn't mean she couldn't still enjoy herself.
Dancing with Chanyeol was nice. He was respectful, his hands never venturing further than her hips or waist. He was taller, and overall larger than Baekhyun, which was probably the biggest difference she felt between the two men. She liked that about him, that he made her feel distinctly different than Baekhyun did. Baekhyun was all bold words and risky touches, while Chanyeol was quieter, more cautious. Baekhyun's hands were slender, softer, when they held onto her, delicate in their teasing touches. Chanyeol’s were calloused, stronger, anchoring her without demanding anything more.
The change of pace was well appreciated, even more so as the drug further loosened her up. She knew that Chanyeol was interested in her, sexually, romantically, or otherwise, but she didn't care. She knew he wouldn't cross any lines, especially not with Baekhyun nearby.
Eventually the drug in tandem with the crowd of bodies on the dance floor forced the two to catch a breather, ending up outside on a large balcony overlooking the city. It was quieter there, with only a few other people tolerating the cool breeze.
As she looked out at the city, and then back at Chanyeol, she had to fight back a grin. Here she was, on a beautiful, opulent hotel balcony overlooking one of the coolest cities in the world, with a devastatingly handsome rockstar at her side. Baekhyun was the last thing on her mind at that point, she was fully enraptured by the party, the drug, and the man now stepping closer to her.
“How are you feeling?” He asked, though he could see it on her face, how happy she was. She didn’t say anything, her smile speaking for itself.
“This is nice.” She said, “Really, really nice.”
Chanyeol nodded in agreement, and when their eyes met this time, neither could seem to look away. They both moved closer, the distance growing smaller and smaller, and out of instinct more than anything else, she threw her arms around his neck.
With the Seoul skyline as their backdrop, their lips met. Chanyeol took half a step back at first, surprised by her boldness, though he quickly leaned back into her. The kiss was sweet, just testing the waters, enjoying the new sensation amidst the rush of the high.
When Baekhyun shoved his friend away from her, she initially gasped. But once the surprise wore off, the abundance of happy chemicals in her brain kept her from feeling even the slightest bit upset.
Baekhyun wanted a reaction. He wanted her to yell, so he could yell back, so he could tell her and Chanyeol off for being such terrible friends. When she instead started to giggle, his blood began to boil.
“Are you two fucking serious?”
Chanyeol stayed silent, wide eyed as he watched everything unfold before him. He was relieved that his friend's attention was more focused on her.
“Are you serious? You said so yourself, we're just friends. I can kiss whoever I want.”
The lightness in her tone, her unbothered smile, it taunted him, mocked him.
His eyes turned to Chanyeol. “Did you give her drugs?”
His mouth opened to respond, but the words seemed to get stuck somewhere along the way.
“Don't worry.” She said, “It's not LSD. I’m not about to say more stupid shit I don't mean.”
Baekhyun’s eyes dug into his friends, and Chanyeol knew that he was holding back. He knew his friend well enough to know when a line had been crossed.
“We're leaving.” He ordered, taking tight hold of her hand and pulling her towards the doors.
She gave Chanyeol a half-assed goodbye, frowning, but didn't resist as Baekhyun pulled them both back to his car.
“You're being an asshole again.” She commented, her tone still far too nonchalant for Baekhyun’s taste.
While she'd been off with Chanyeol, Baekhyun found a friend who offered him a generous hit of coke. The drug only amplified his shaky, delirious rage, his grip on the steering wheel tightening at her words.
“I'm being an asshole? Really?”
“Yea, I was having fun. We aren't together, you've made that abundantly clear, so I don't see what the problem is.”
“Don't play fucking innocent we both know you only did that to piss me off.”
“And why does it piss you off? Hmm?” She really hadn't done it with any malicious intent. She’d just wanted to have a good time and one thing led to another, but in her drug induced cloud of smug confidence and brutal honesty she continued on taunting him. “Because I know you care about me. You wouldn't have shown up at my apartment in tears the other day if you didn't care about me.”
At the next red light he looked over at her, the tension in his jaw and forehead clearly evident in his expression. “You will never be anything more to me than a friend and a good fuck. However you think I might feel won’t change that.”
His words stung, but she wouldn’t let him know that. “Then you don’t get to freak out when I kiss another guy.”
Baekhyun didn’t respond, but she could see the anger, he looked like he wanted to punch something.
“This is fucked.” He eventually muttered.
“You don’t say.”
“No, you don’t get it. This is bad.”
She just rolled her eyes, and tried to concentrate on the city passing by on the other side of the window.
She assumed he would be taking her back home to her apartment, and yet as he kept driving, it became clear that he was doing nothing of the sort.
“Baekhyun, where are we going? You said you would drop me off.”
“‘You’re staying with me tonight.”
“No the fuck I’m not?! I want to sleep in my own bed, far away from you. Turn around.”
“No.”
She stared at him, bewildered, but he refused to even look her way. His eyes remained fixed to the road, which was quickly approaching his building.
“What the fuck is your problem?”
Still, he didn’t react, not until the pair were pulling into his building’s parking garage. He parked, turned off the engine, and locked the doors.
“I need you to stay with me tonight.” His hands remained on the wheel as he said it, anchoring himself. He stared straight ahead at the concrete wall.
“What?”
“Please, just spend the night. You can go straight to sleep. I won't bother you. But just, stay with me. Please.”
He finally looked at her. Maybe it was the drug, but the way he looked at her made something shift. He wasn’t angry, he was scared.
“Why should I?”
“Maybe you’re right. I know I can’t give you what you want, but I do care.”
“That’s not fair.”
He shook his head, wearing a pained expression as he got out of the car, opening her door and taking her hand to follow him. She did, though she still wasn’t sure why.
“Baekhyun, why the hell can’t I just get an uber home? It's not like we're gonna fuck so I don’t see the point in coming up.”
His hand was suddenly yanking on hers, pulling her close in an instant. He held her face in his hands, barely giving her time to take a breath before his lips were crashing into hers.
It was messy, needy and desperate. Baekhyun quickly pushed his tongue past her lips, tasting the lingering liquor from earlier in the night, combined with the flavor he was already addicted to. Her.
“Stop talking.” He whispered into the space between their lips when he’d finally had his fill. She pouted a little, but didn’t challenge him.
The rest of the night was silent. They went up to his apartment together, and went to bed, without sharing another word. She was getting tired anyway, and the drug made it difficult to care all that much about whatever chaos seemed to be going on in Baekhyun’s head.
When they laid down together, he pulled her in close, so close it was almost suffocating. His face pressed into the crown of her head, inhaling the clean scent of her shampoo, feeling something inside him twist into an uncomfortable knot. Still, he didn’t let go. If anything, he held on tighter.
His own words from earlier in the night repeated over and over in his head, until he passed out with her still wrapped firmly around him.
This is fucked. This is bad.
Really, really bad.

Hidden Feelings - Joe Liebgott one shot
Warnings: bad writing bc this is my first real attempt, I thought it would be easy but writing is goddamn difficult?! I have all these ideas in my head but acting putting them to words turns out to be incredibly difficult 🫠 So feedback is very much wanted and welcome! - also people getting hurt, bad attempt at angsty writing
Summary: Joe doesn’t want to admit his feelings for you and watches you be with one of his friends, but when you get hurt he confesses his feelings
It was early June, and the easy company men were all waiting for orders to finally come down. The days had started to blur together, a strange limbo of drills, checking gear, trying to keep the fear and anticipation from getting the best of them. They’d been told they’d be jumping into Normandy any day now, and each night, they went to sleep wondering if tomorrow would be it. Liebgott had taken to sleeping with his boots half-laced, the nervous energy spilling into everything he did. He tried to put up a brave face, as did everyone else, but at night time the reality would hit him again and it would mean a lot of sleepless hours for him.
The others in his little friendgroup all had ways of coping too. Luz and Muck made their wisecracks, Malarkey and Penkala tried to keep spirits high, Bill kept himself busy and Buck was always somewhere with a cigarette between his fingers, watching the sky with that half-calm, half-worried look. But y/n… Joe didn’t know how she kept so calm. She had a way of settling into the silence, of watching everyone else with a steady gaze, the kind that never wavered, as if she’d long ago decided that whatever happened would happen, and there was no point in letting it scare her.
She didn’t talk much about what she felt. Not even to Joe. Not that she didn’t want to, because she did, but she felt like she shouldn‘t. She was the only woman in their battalion; she’d had to work twice as hard just to prove she could belong. She’d fought tooth and nail to get them to see her as a soldier first, not some girl tagging along, and she couldn’t bear the thought of losing that respect. It was hard enough as it was, fighting in a man’s world, where every action, every look, every stray touch was a potential rumor waiting to catch fire.
Instead, she’d go off with Talbert, her laugh echoing down the line, that warm, quiet laugh that Joe had only ever heard her give to Tab. It was enough to make his stomach twist, to feel like his blood was boiling inside him every time he saw them together. He’d see her sitting next to Talbert, that easy, open smile on her face, and Talbert would be looking at her like she was some kind of miracle. Joe hated it more than he’d ever admit, hated how she could lean into Tab, laughing as if they weren’t days from getting thrown into god-knows-what in France, as if this whole damned war didn’t matter as long as they had each other. He’d told himself, more times than he could count, that he didn’t care, that it wasn’t his business, that it didn’t matter. But he knew better. He’d always known better.
He wasn’t sure why she’d gone for Tab in the first place. They were close, sure, but it was different. Joe and y/n had something different, something deeper, something that lived in all the silent looks, the half-smiles, the way she’d reach out and catch his shoulder whenever he tried to brush off some wound he was hiding. They never talked about it, and it made no sense, this thing between them, but it was there, and he couldn’t stop thinking about it. He had ruined that himself. She had tried to get close to him at Toccoa, and they were good friends, but when she tried to kiss him one time during a party in a pub he’d refused her. Not that he didn’t want her, he did, he just didn’t want to admit that to himself. Feelings would make his life more complicated than it already was, and he didn’t want to care too much for someone who could die any day now.
However, every time he saw her with Talbert, his heart pounded with this twisted, fierce jealousy that felt almost wrong, like it wasn’t something he had the right to feel.
But how could he tell her that?
It would be stupid, reckless, and worse, selfish. They were soldiers. Tab and him were friends. They were here for the same reason as everyone else, and he couldn’t let his feelings get in the way, couldn’t give them voice when it might break the whole thing apart. So, he buried it, again and again, telling himself that it didn’t matter, that she was free to do what she wanted, be with who she wanted.
And yet, here he was, pacing around camp in the early morning, the sky just beginning to lighten, when he saw her - y/n, standing alone near the edge of the tents, her hands shoved deep in her pockets. She looked cold, lost in thought, and for once, Talbert was nowhere around. He almost turned back, almost left her to her own quiet solitude. But he didn’t. His feet kept moving, like they were carrying him forward on instinct.
“Can’t sleep?” he asked as he came up beside her, shoving his hands into his own pockets to mirror her.
She looked up, eyes flicking over his face, her expression softening just a little. “Guess not.” Her voice was quiet, and she looked away, toward the fields beyond. “Feels strange, doesn’t it? This waiting.”
“Yeah,” he said, swallowing. “It does.”
A long silence fell between them, comfortable but heavy, thick with everything they couldn’t say. He thought about asking her, right then, if Talbert meant something to her, if maybe she’d ever looked at Joe the way she looked at Talb. But he knew that if he asked, it’d all come spilling out—the jealousy, the stupid ache he’d tried to ignore, the twisted feelings he knew had no place here, not now. He catched her looking at him a little too long, and she diverted her gaze to the sky until he spoke again.
“I saw you with Floyd last night. He seemed happy.”
She glanced at him, her eyes narrowing slightly, as if she’d caught something in his voice he hadn’t meant to let slip. “Yeah… he’s been good to me. It’s nice, having someone to talk to. Someone who gets it.”
Joe’s jaw tightened. He tried to force a smile, tried to hide the burn that clawed at his chest. “I get it too, you know,” he said, his voice a little harder than he intended. He saw her face soften, the barest hint of a frown creasing her brow.
“Do you?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, but her eyes were searching his face, her gaze intense, as if she was waiting for him to say something real, something he’d buried too deep to reach.
He wanted to tell her that he did, that he understood her better than anyone else ever could, that he’d felt more for her than he’d ever dared admit. But the words wouldn’t come. They stuck in his throat, thick and painful, tangled with the fear that if he said them, everything would shatter. The mission, the friendship they’d built, the delicate thread they’d stretched between them.
So he just nodded, glancing away. “I do, y/n, I used to get you more than anyone ever did”, he said, his voice low and rough. And then, softer, “More than you know.”
She took a step closer, placing her hand on his cheeck, and he froze, feeling the warmth of her touch. “You distanced yourself from me, remember? Not the other way around” she murmured, a sad, knowing smile on her lips.
He swallowed, his chest tightening as he looked down at her. There was so much he wanted to say, so much he’d kept hidden, but he knew he couldn’t. Not here. Not with Normandy looming over them like a shadow, ready to claim them all. They were living on borrowed time, and some things were better left unsaid.
The silence stretched between them again, heavy and fragile. Finally, she sighed, stepping back. “You should get some sleep, Joe.”
He nodded, the words dying on his tongue, and turned back to the camp, walking away from her, hating himself a little more with each step.
~
They were in the thick woods somewhere outside Eindhoven, trudging through underbrush, their boots sinking into wet mud with every step. Y/n walked a few steps ahead of Joe, while Luz and Malarkey covered the rear, trading quiet jokes that barely carried over the crackle of leaves. Joe kept his eyes forward, watching her as she navigated the uneven terrain. He was still nursing the awkwardness from that night before Normandy—the things left unsaid, the way he’d walked away, the way he’d regretted it every day since.
But none of that mattered now, not when they were out here, deep in hostile territory. He wasn’t supposed to worry about anything except keeping everyone safe. They all knew that. And yet, when y/n looked back to check on him, her gaze lingering just a little too long, he couldn’t ignore that same ache tightening his chest.
They continued through the woods until a sudden crack split the air—a gunshot, distant but unmistakable. “Did you guys hear that?” Malarkey asked quietly.
Everyone froze, tense, scanning the trees for any movement. Y/n’s hand went instinctively to her rifle, her eyes sharp, searching. Joe moved closer to her without thinking, his hand coming up to gesture for her to keep low. For a moment, their eyes met, and he saw the fear there, buried under her determination.
Then, a shout—a patrol up ahead. German voices, coming closer.
They all ducked down, scrambling for cover behind a fallen tree. Joe’s heart hammered as he crouched next to y/n, his fingers tight on his rifle. Luz and Malarkey were barely a few feet away, tense and waiting.
Joe glanced at her. Her face was pale, her lips pressed into a thin line, but her eyes were steady. He could see her calculating the next move, the way her mind worked through each possibility, each risk. It was a side of her he respected, admired even, and he felt a pang of guilt, remembering the jealousy he’d harbored over Talbert, the way he’d let it come between them.
The Germans moved on, their voices fading, and Joe let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. Slowly, they stood, exchanging relieved looks. Luz muttered a few choice words under his breath, making y/n snicker despite herself, and the tension eased just a little.
But the near-miss lingered with Joe. He found himself walking closer to her, his shoulders brushing hers now and then, and for once, she didn’t pull away. He didn’t know why, but it was enough to let him hope things could get better between them again.
~
Over the next few weeks, Joe and y/n found themselves thrown together again. They’d stand watch side by side, swap stories during rare quiet nights, linger over half-finished cigarettes in silence. It felt easy, the way it had before everything got complicated, and for a little while, Joe let himself believe things could go back to how they’d been.
One night, they were sitting on a stone wall outside a deserted farmhouse, keeping watch while the others caught a few hours of sleep. The moon was bright, casting a soft glow over the fields, and for a moment, it felt almost peaceful.
“How are Tab and you? Haven’t heard from him in a while” Liebgott asked while he put a cigarette between his lips to light it.
“Floyd and I… we broke things off,” she said, her voice breaking the quiet. Joe looked at her, surprised, and saw the faintest hint of sadness in her eyes.
“Oh,” he said, not sure what to say. “I’m sorry.”
She gave him a small, rueful smile, shaking her head. “No need to be. It’s better this way. We’re still friends.”
He wanted to ask why—he’d seen her and Talbert together enough to know they’d shared something real, even if he hated admitting it. But before he could, she looked away, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon, and he knew she didn’t want him to press.
It had been weeks before, back in the tents, when she’d finally confronted Talbert. They’d been talking, laughing even, when she felt the weight of it settle in her chest—the knowledge that something between them had shifted, that whatever they’d had was fading, unraveling.
“I think… maybe we’re trying to make this into something it’s not,” she’d said, her voice soft but steady.
Talbert looked at her, his expression pensive. “Maybe,” he agreed, running a hand through his hair. There was no bitterness there, no anger, just an odd kind of resignation. “We’re both looking for something to hold onto, and maybe we thought we could find it in each other.”
She nodded, feeling a strange mix of relief and regret. “It’s hard to be anything, to be anyone, in a place like this. Things don’t… stick. You know?”
He gave a low chuckle, nodding. “Believe me, I know. But…” He hesitated, his gaze flicking over her face, searching for something. “I think there’s more to it than that. You and me… we’re better as friends, y/n.”
She opened her mouth to argue, to tell him that she’d tried, that she wanted it to work. But his next words cut her off.
“Besides, you’ve always had eyes for Liebgott. Even if you don’t want to admit it.”
The shock of his words settled over her, and she could only stare at him, speechless. Talbert’s face softened, the barest hint of a smile on his lips.
“It’s okay,” he added, his tone gentle. “Sometimes you just know. I’ll keep your secret.”
---
The night after that conversation, she had kept her distance from Joe, unsure of what to do with the realization that Talbert’s words had stirred in her. But it didn’t seem to matter, not when Joe was always there, his quiet steadiness a comfort she hadn’t realized she needed.
It was a few days later, the whole group huddled around a small fire, trying to keep warm in the evening chill. Luz was telling some outrageous story, Malarkey and Buck throwing in commentary, everyone laughing louder than they had in weeks. Y/n was laughing too, caught up in the warmth of it, the camaraderie that had become so rare out here.
"So there I was," Luz said, his voice low and conspiratorial, "crouched under a table in the back of this bar in London, and I’m thinking, Luz, my man, you’re as good as dead."
Buck rolled his eyes. "Oh, here we go again."
"No, no, seriously!" Luz insisted, his eyes wide with mock horror. "The bartender's waving a broom at me like I’m some kind of wild animal. I’m dodging left, dodging right, trying to keep my head down—"
"And let me guess," Malarkey interjected, a smirk tugging at his lips, "you were hiding from some poor girl you promised the world to?"
Luz grinned, shrugging. "You say ‘promised,’ I say ‘gave a slight suggestion of affection.’ There’s a difference, Malarkey."
Y/n snorted, shaking her head. “So let me get this straight,” she said, eyebrows raised. “You're saying this bartenderjust randomly decided to chase you out of his bar, for no good reason? I’m not buying it.”
Luz put a hand to his chest, looking hurt. "Y/n, when have I ever lied to you?"
Buck laughed, giving her a pat on the shoulder. "Better question: when hasn’t he?" He asked.
The conversation continued after that, but y/n zoned out a little. And in an attempt to get her back to the conversation, George made a comment. “How’s it going with you, y/n? Moved on from Floyd yet?” It was a lighthearted jab, but it hit harder than she expected, and suddenly, the laughter felt too sharp, too close. She stood, muttering something about needing air, and walked off into the night, hugging her arms around herself.
Joe saw her leave, his brow furrowing as he watched her silhouette disappear. Without thinking, he got up, following her into the darkness. “I didn’t mean to-“ George said sadly, but Buck comforted him, saying that she’d been a bit off all day.
Liebgott found her a few yards from the fire, her back turned to him, shoulders hunched. She didn’t look up as he approached, but she didn’t pull away, either.
“Y/n,” he said quietly, reaching out to touch her shoulder. She tensed, but didn’t move. “Hey, what’s going on?”
She shook her head, her voice choked. “I’m fine. It’s just… everything. I guess it got to me.”
He nodded, stepping closer, his hand sliding down to hold hers. She let him, and for a moment, they stood there in silence, the night settling around them like a blanket.
“Floyd?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
She gave a bitter laugh. “I don’t even know what to feel about him anymore. We… we’re done, but…” Her voice trailed off, and she looked up at him, her eyes shining with something raw and unspoken.
“But it’s not about Talbert, is it?” he asked, the words falling out before he could stop them. He felt her hand tighten in his, felt her pulse beneath his fingers, fast and uncertain.
She didn’t answer, just stared at him, her expression conflicted, a thousand emotions passing over her face. And in that moment, Joe knew—knew the truth he’d been running from, the truth he’d tried to bury. “No, it’s not” y/n sighed, shifting her head to look up at him. The way she looked at him made clear what she wanted to say. That it was him. But he kept quiet. she wasn’t sure if she’d ever seen someone put up as many walls as he did. There was something haunted in him, something broken that he never let anyone touch, least of all her. But she felt it, whenever they were alone, that subtle push and pull, that tension between them that no words seemed to reach. It felt like a thread, stretching between them, invisible yet stronger than steel, and every day it grew tighter, coiled with words unsaid, touches unmade, confessions swallowed and buried deep. “Why can’t you just admit how you feel. I know I’m not imagining what’s going on between us” she frowned.
They’d been questioned about their dynamic before, especially by Muck and Luz, who were always looking for a good laugh. Joe’d rolled his eyes, snorted, even. Just friends, he’d say, putting enough irony into it to make the others laugh. Y/n would brush it off too, put on that easy smile and give as good as she got, but inside she felt a knot tighten in her chest every time they asked. Just friends. That was the only answer that made any sense. They couldn't afford anything more—not here, not now, not with war pressing in on them from every side. And maybe not ever.
Liebgott swallowed and looked at her, he was at a complete loss of words. “I- y/n… I can’t… we can’t…”
Y/n let go of his hand and sighed softly. “You know what? Forget that I said anything. I’m gonna try to get some sleep” she mumbled before walking off.
~
The night was dark, the kind of blackness that swallowed every trace of light. In some cruel twist of faith, Liebgott and y/n were made to share a foxhole. They sat huddled together, the wet earth pressing in around them. They were knee-deep in mud, cold to the bone, and every few minutes, a distant rumble shook the ground beneath them. They’d been here for hours, rain dripping down their helmets, every sound making them tense, hands instinctively reaching for their rifles.
They hadn’t spoken much—neither of them dared to. Just quick glances, the unspoken worry about the others out there somewhere in the same miserable conditions, trying to survive the endless barrage. Joe kept glancing at her, watching how she set her jaw, her gaze fixed on the dark horizon. He felt that familiar ache, the one that twisted painfully every time he looked at her and remembered everything they hadn’t said, everything he’d kept buried. There was something about this night, this horrible, cold silence that made him want to reach out, to finally tell her what he’d been carrying for so long. But the words stayed stuck in his throat.
A flare shot up nearby, casting the field in a harsh, ghostly light. Suddenly, a shout rang out, somewhere to their left. It was Muck’s voice, raw and desperate.
Y/n moved instantly, scrambling out of the foxhole before Joe could even reach for her arm.
“Y/n, wait!” he hissed, but she was already gone, crawling over the muddy ground toward the sound.
Joe cursed under his breath, clambering out to follow her, his heart pounding. He could see her up ahead, her silhouette low to the ground, moving fast. Another shout tore through the darkness, and then came a crack—a gunshot—and a sudden, choked cry. Joe’s heart stopped.
“Y/n!” he yelled, panic clawing up his throat as he sprinted forward. He was slipping on the mud, his boots catching, his hands trembling as he dropped to his knees beside her. She was lying on her side, her hand clutching her shoulder, her face twisted in pain, even before she could get to Muck.
“Y/n, no, no—" His voice broke, and he felt his hands go cold. He pressed down on her shoulder, trying to stanch the bleeding, his heart thundering as he tried to keep calm. “Why the hell did you go out there? You—”
She winced, gripping his arm, her eyes squeezed shut. “Had to… had to help. Muck—” Liebgott shifted his head to look at where the noice had been coming from. Eugene Roe was sitting next to Muck, patching up his shoulder, but furthermore he seemed to be fine.
“Muck’s fine, sweetheart, he’s okay.” Joe’s voice shook, but he forced himself to focus. The bleeding wasn’t as bad as he’d thought. It was a flesh wound, but the sight of her lying there, her face pale, had hit him harder than anything he’d ever faced. “God, y/n, ya scared me half to death…”
She looked up at him with half glazy eyes.
His throat tightened, and before he could stop himself, the words started spilling out. “I can’t—can’t keep watching you run headfirst into danger like that. You keep on doing that and you can’t do that damnit. Not when…” He stopped, his breath ragged, and looked down at her, his chest aching. “Not when what, Joe?” She asked, putting her hand on his cheeck. He looked so stressed, and even though she was the one who got hit, she felt like he was the one who was hurt. He didn’t want to say anything. Didn’t want to continue and then say something he couldn’t take back. “Not when I’ve been in love with you since—hell, since I don’t even know when.”
Her eyes snapped open, and despite the pain, she gave him a small, incredulous smile. “Joe Liebgott, are you seriously confessing to me now, while I’m bleeding out in the mud?”
The shock of her voice—of her teasing tone—hit him like a punch to the chest. He let out a shaky laugh, relief flooding through him as he realized she was really going to be okay.
“Apparently, yeah,” he managed, a small, breathless chuckle escaping him. Then he called Doc Roe over who was done patching up Muck. Roe came rushing over and made her sit up straight so that he could look at her shoulder. Liebgott looked down at y/n again and felt his face go red, but he held her gaze, the weight of everything he’d kept inside finally lifting. “I… I can’t do this anymore, y/n. Pretending, acting like I don’t care.” Liebgott muttered frustrated, and Roe raised his eyebrows a little out of surprise, but kept his gaze fixed on his task. “Every time you go runnin’ off, I—hell, I can barely breathe, thinkin’ I might lose you.”
She looked at him, her face softening despite the pain, and a flicker of something he’d never seen before passed over her features. “Well, maybe it’s good you said something, because I’ve felt the same way for a long time.” Her hand found his, her fingers cold but steady. “But if you keep yelling at me like that, I might have to reconsider.”
A grin spread across his face, and he gave her hand a squeeze. “Fine, fine. Just… try not to get shot again, would ya?”
“I second that” Roe said before giving her instructions on what to do with her shoulder. It wasn’t a bad wound, but he did tell her to be more careful next time because she should know better. Y/n nodded and when Roe walked away she focused on Liebgott again. She smiled, rolling her eyes at him, and despite everything—the mud, the darkness, the war raging around them—it felt like, for one perfect moment, they were the only two people in the world.

Upstead Foster Daughter
Did you ever wonder how Upstead would be as foster parents for a teenage girl? Like Hank and Erin, Hailey and Jay welcomed Olivia to their home when she was 16. Olivia holds a lot of grudges and is full of mischief, but she is also incredibly sweet and has a tremendous need to feel like she belongs. To her surprise, Hailey and Jay will give her exactly that.
Masterlist
Word count: 2k-ish
[Chapter III] “What if I'm far from home?”
Jay recovers well and three months later Olivia finds herself face to face with him and Hailey again.
“Hailey,” Jay’s rough voice woke Hailey from a light sleep on the chair next to Jay’s hospital bed.
“Jay!” she got up and held one of his hands between hers, leaving a chaste kiss on it.
“Hi, my love,” Jay smiled, the effort to do so appearing bigger than it should be.
Hailey smiled back, “How are you feeling?”
He made a face and tried to change his position on the bed, a huff leaving his lips, “Everything hurts.”
“I’ll call the nurse.”
“No, wait,” Jay grabbed her hand. “Let us be for a while, it doesn’t hurt that much.”
Hailey stared at her stubborn husband. She knew he hated hospitals, and he also wasn’t known for admitting his pain, but she let him be for now.
“What happened?” Jay asked. “I mean, with my CI and the case?”
“What about hearing about yourself first, huh? The surgery was a success, but the doctor said you must take it easy for a while otherwise it won’t heal properly. You scared me, Jay. I can’t see you in this situation again.”
“I’m sorry, I should’ve waited for you. You’re my partner, we do this kind of stuff together.”
“I should’ve insisted on going with you. Maybe if you had backup…”
“You can’t know that for sure, Hailey. If anything, you could be in my place right now so I’m happy I was alone.”
“Jay…”
“Let’s leave the what-ifs behind, okay? I’m here and I’m not going anywhere,” he was the one to kiss her hand this time. “I love you.”
“I love you too, always.”
Jay smiled, “Where’s my kiss? Or do I have a bad breath? I don’t know how long I was out.”
Hailey laughed, kissing her husband’s lips softly. “It’s been a day and a half.”
“Wait!” Jay said. “What about the girl who helped me? Olivia. Is she okay?”
“She is, it’s a long story though. We found out she had run away from her foster family.”
“Why?” Jay asked with a frown.
“I don’t know, we talked with her social worker but nothing was wrong, it seemed like a teenager thing.”
“Really? You guys went there to check?”
“We did, Kev and I talked with her foster mom. She seemed good, and the social worker confirmed that.”
“Well,” Jay rearranged himself on the bed again. “Hopefully she will be okay. We can keep an eye on her just in case.”
“I exchanged numbers with her social worker. Told her to call me if anything happened.”
“Of course you did,” he smiled, but then his expression became more serious. “If it wasn’t for her… I don’t even know Hailey.”
“Yeah, I was terrified hearing from another person that you were shot, but I was happy you weren’t alone.”
“Me too, I still remember her eyes staring at me in a panic. She must have been so scared, Hailey. But she still did everything I told her to.”
“She was a little shaken up afterward, Kim and Kev said she barely said a word to them. But she was brave.”
“Oh, about the case,” Hailey started. “It was closed rather quickly, I’m sure Platt and Voight pulled some strings,” she laughed lightly and so did Jay.
“The team found out your CI was still working for his old gang, when you called him asking for info on our case he told them and they sent someone after you.”
“Son of a bitch,” Jay said.
“Both your CI and the guy who shot you were arrested."
Jay looked like he wanted to ask a million questions but Hailey spoke before he had the chance, "But now I just wish to never think about this again, can we do that?”
Jay nodded, “You don’t have to, I promise this was the last bullet to my count,” he said with a smile.
“It better be, Halstead!”
⭑*•⊱ 3 months later ⊰•*⭑
Hailey's phone has been ringing for the past 5 minutes, her ringtone waking Jay up. Hailey came running out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel, her long hair dripping water everywhere. Jay smiled lazily at the sight.
“I'm sorry Jay, I forgot to turn it off. I came in so desperate for a shower.”
It was around 1 am when she arrived home from an extra shift. There was a situation in a women’s shelter and she and Kim decided to go and lend a hand.
Hailey did a double take at her phone when she saw the name ‘Martha’, she was Olivia's social worker.
Jay noticed her shock and said, “You're good? Who is it?”
“It's Olivia's social worker,” she said while picking up the call. Jay sat up, all the traces of sleep suddenly vanishing from his brain. Something bad must have happened for her to call at this hour.
“Martha? Hi, yes I can talk. What's going on? Is Olivia okay?” Hailey said. She felt Jay's presence by her side.
“Of course, no, don't worry about that it's not a bother at all. I'm glad you called, my husband and I are going right now, bye.” She hung up the phone and turned to Jay.
“What happened? Is she okay?” Jay asked straight away.
“She ran away again.”
2:00 am on a Wednesday, in Chicago. Jay is doing the best he can to avoid thinking about all the possible scenarios that could happen to a 15-year-old girl alone at night. He and Hailey drove around Olivia's foster family neighborhood, checking places she could have run to. No sign of her. After checking all the places the family said she likes to go, Hailey and Jay started to think further.
“Maybe we should call patrol to help out on the search? Call in the team?” Jay said, already sounding way more stressed than he intended to. He knew she wasn't missing long enough to follow all the missing person's protocol, it's been 3 hours. One of the kids that shared a room with Olivia woke up to drink a glass of water and didn't find her on the bed and her clothes were gone from the closet. However, Jay can't help but think the worst. A lot of things can happen in 3 hours, right?
“Let's check the nearest bus and train stations, if she's not there then we'll see what we can do at the station,” Hailey said, her tone filled with worry.
They got nothing from the bus station, it was almost empty and no one saw a girl walking around alone. But their luck changed at the train station. They noticed her from a distance, sitting down on a bench, a backpack by her side. She was waiting for the train that would come at any minute now. Hailey and Jay looked at each other with relief, moving in the direction of the girl.
“Olivia,” her head spun toward the feminine voice.
“Hailey? Jay?” Olivia stood up, putting her bag on her shoulders.
Jay immediately tensed up, afraid she might run from them.
“Olivia we just wanna help, okay?” Hailey said with a small smile. “Come and talk to us.”
Jay watched in silence, hesitant to say anything that could scare the girl away.
Hailey continued, “Please, Olivia? Whatever you're thinking, it's no good being alone in Chicago at night, we know you know that.”
Of course, she knew. Olivia was scared, she didn't want to run away in the middle of the night, but it was the best time to do this so she had to gather the courage and go. Always looking over her shoulder the whole way.
“We're taking you to the station,” Jay spoke for the first time, “You're not in trouble, but we can talk there, you can tell us what's going on. How does that sound?”
Hailey nodded in affirmation to Jay's words.
“Fine,” was all Olivia said. She followed them to the car quietly. The train arrived when they left. If they had got there 5 minutes later, Jay thought. 5 damn minutes and she would be gone.
Olivia did not say a single word on the way to the station. Hailey and Jay tried every possible topic of conversation they could think of but it was useless. She shut herself completely. Hailey was the one driving and after giving up the small talk, she and Jay were exchanging worried looks in silence. Jay, especially, was in a lot of thought. Of course Olivia shut them out, she did not know them. Between that day at the alley when they first met, Jay being in the hospital and Olivia being sent back to her foster family, neither he nor Hailey had a real conversation with her. Jay realized that he didn’t even thank her.
“I never thanked you for saving my life, Olivia,” Jay said after a long silence.
“It was nothing,” Olivia answered in a low voice.
Jay looked at Hailey in surprise, he was not expecting an answer at all. “What do you mean it was nothing, I could have bled out if you hadn't called my team,” Jay looked at her over his shoulder. “Thank you.”
It was around 3 am when they got to the district. The three of them went over to the Intelligence break room to talk.
Olivia sat at the small table close to the window. “Are you hungry? Thirsty?” Jay asked.
“No,” Olivia mumbled without looking at him.
“I’m just gonna go straight to the point Olivia,” Hailey said, pulling a chair and sitting in front of the girl. “What’s happening with your foster home? Why are you running away?”
“You don’t get it,” Olivia said, still not looking at them.
“Then make us understand,” Hailey said calmly. She looked at Jay silently asking for help, he came and sat beside Hailey.
“We just wanna help you, but we can’t do that if you don’t open up to us,” Hailey tried again. Olivia looked up, looking between them both.
“You don’t know us and we don’t know you,” Jay started. “But we want to get to know you, we want to help you.”
“Why?” Olivia asked.
“Why wouldn’t we?” Hailey answered. “You’re a good kid, you deserve to be happy. If your current foster home is not giving you that then we need to know.”
Olivia thought for a moment. She never expected to see Hailey and Jay again, let alone have this conversation. They were nice to her and she knew they were grateful for what she did for Jay. They probably think they owe her something and that’s why they’re doing this. Whatever the reason, maybe they can help her.
“Fine,” Olivia said looking at the pair. “There is nothing wrong with the foster family.”
Hailey and Jay stared at her in confusion. They did not believe she was running away for the sake of it, it made no sense.
“They feed me, they are nice to me, they give me fresh clothes and a warm bed,” Olivia said. “But that’s all it is.”
“What do you mean?” Hailey asked.
Olivia took a deep breath before saying, “I’m just another kid to them. They’re good people and everything but that is not my home. I feel like an intruder there. I know I should be grateful, a lot of kids are not this lucky when it comes to foster homes, but I can’t help feeling like this. So I made a plan.”
“A plan?” Hailey asked.
“Yeah, I planned to leave Chicago and the foster system behind. I would miss Chicago but at least I was going to be my own family.”
Hailey and Jay looked at each other in realization. So that's why she was running? She just wanted to belong.
“I know the system's not perfect Olivia, but running is not the solution,” Jay said calmly. “How would you live? And the people who know you? They would be worried as hell.”
“We would be worried as hell,” Hailey said.
Jay nodded, “We would be the first ones looking for you out there.” Olivia smiled softly at that.
“Will you let us help?” Hailey asked.
“Mm-hmm, okay.” Olivia honestly had no idea how they could help, but it was worth a try, wasn’t it?

an idea for Sebastian x the MC: MC is on her period and walking with Sebastian when she has a bad cramp, one of those you can’t really ignore and need to sit down for a min and endure the pain. Sebastian’s immediate reaction is thinking she was cursed like Anne because she’s always out fighting goblins. She really doesn’t want to tell him because what teenage girl wants to talk about that with their crush but he’s so worried and won’t drop it. (side note: did teenage boys know about periods in the 1890’s? i deadass have no clue)
omg my mind juices are flowing. what a wonderful idea, anon. thank you for the free labor.
speaking of which, by the time i post this i will most likely have hit 500 followers!! ding ding ding!! why do you guys follow me? i defo do not deserve all the love you guys give me.
another question, how should we celebrate? there are no bad ideas because i have none. anyway, enjoy!
pinky promise

summary: normally you keep these things to yourself, or at least to you and your menstruating friends. but one sebastian sees you doubled over in pain, privacy goes out the window. he's so freaked out that you have no choice but to tell him the truth to ease him.
words: 0.6k
warnings: mentions of periods, cramping, angst, hurt/comfort, crying!seb, not edited!
you were just fine moments ago. you were walking with sebastian to the library to study, talking, joking, all of the normal things you would do. he didn't notice you weren't next to him at first. everything was just fine. but suddenly, everything came crashing down when he saw you clutch your side, your face twisting with anguish. he couldn't help it. he immediately saw anne in you, crying out in pain from her curse. everything slowed around him, all he could hear was his own heavy breaths as he stood helplessly in shock. a million thoughts were racing through his mind. he knew you were one to track down the remaining loyalists on your own, but how could he have missed it? you were probably in so much pain but with too much pride to admit it.
most of all, though, he was angry with himself for being unable to protect you. he'd already let it happen to his sister once, he should've taken more precautions. he should've known, he should've stopped it. without wasting another second, he raced to your side, wrapping his arm around you to support you.
"no, no, no, no, no...please don't tell me..." his voice was already breathless and trembling. with your eyes still screwed tightly shut, his words seemed distant, muffled almost. the sharp pain that suddenly surfaced in your abdomen shrouded all your other senses. you couldn't get a word out if you tried, so you just held up your hand, a weak attempt at calming him.
"no, no, i can't--" he didn't even try to hide the tears pooling in his amber eyes. he quickly dropped to his knees in front of you as you knelt over to get a better look at the expression on your face. his hand instinctively cupped your face.
"y/n, please tell me you weren't cursed, please!" he was full-on crying at this point, tears streaming down his freckled cheeks that were now flushed with worry. you were quickly brought back to reality, hearing the pain in his voice. you opened your eyes and instantly felt horrible.
you placed a comforting hand on his shoulder as you slowly started to straighten your spine as the cramp faded away. "no, sebastian, i'm fine--"
"no, you're not fine!" he was practically wailing now, gripping onto your robes hopelessly before wrapping his arms around your waist with an almost unbearable grip and hiding his dampened face in your torso. you were fast to rest your hands in his hair, gently patting it to somehow soothe him.
"sebastian, really, i'm okay, i'm just..." you continued running your fingers through his hair as you contemplated the truth. to be frank, this was something you were hoping you didn't have to talk with sebastian about. however, the lingering students in the central hall were already giving the two of you stares, you needed to calm him.
"it's...my time, sebastian." you tried to keep your voice hushed as to not draw more attention, but your wording sent him even further from relaxing.
"your time?!" he shouted incoherently, tears still streaming down his face.
you gasped, realizing your mistake, "no, no! sebastian, it's my time of the month." as if a switch had flipped in his brain, his brow softened immediately as he stared blankly at you.
"oh." he let his arms linger around your waist as he tried slowing his breathing. after a moment, he pulled you closer once more, his cheek flush with your stomach.
"please don't scare me like that again," he mumbled adorably, still holding tightly onto you.
"i--...sure, okay. i'm sorry, sebastian. i didn't mean to scare you, darling." you decided not to argue with him. in that moment, all he needed was love.
"and pinky promise no more ashwinder camps without me," he added, craning his neck to look up at you with puffy eyes. you suppressed a chuckle but still smiled down at him.
"pinky promise."
