It's time to talk about what text I'm working on now…

…and this is "The Man with a Thousand Voices" 🐉

my first full-length fantasy novel with a touch of travel novel, telling how a small detachment on behalf of a monarch sets out on a journey in search of the chosen one who will subdue the legendary dragons and be able to save the kingdom in its most difficult hour. the initial idea came when, while listening to music, I caught a deep emotional wound, catching millions of undertones of feelings in the singer’s voice. I’m always receptive to music, but at that moment a barrage of questions came into my head. how much can be hidden behind our words and voice? what depths of emotion can grow within us, and what will happen if we give in to them? what are we ready for, following our feelings?

and so the characters for this story first appeared, and then the idea blossomed. the idea of the path of dissimilar and at the same time a bit similar people, to which I added, keeping in mind my best traditions, internal conflicts, a love line and, of course, a pinch of magic. 🐉 the setting of the story is a fantasy world with features of ancient Britain (and vague echoes of ancient Scandinavia) and celtic flavor. the world is... vest-pocket? not pretending to be a strictly historical Middle Ages, but rather painting a picture for you and me… but I’m trying to put my soul into this picture.

I'll post small snippets and quotes online as I write, but the full text probably won't appear until I've finished the entire novel. not in English for sure, translating it would be even more of a hell than writing it, sorry x)

Harry nodded and pulled him into a hug, knowing that he needed to appreciate any time that he got with Draco whenever he got it. No matter how serious. He also knew, thanks to Voldemort's mind, that Draco needed some comfort too. They all had a role to play, and Draco’s could be especially taxing. “Whatever you did to him, I am sure it was only what you had to do.”

Draco shoved him off, glaring in an insincere way that proved to Harry that he needed to hear that, even if he didn’t appreciate it. He needed to be reminded that he was trustworthy when he felt like he was not. “Go be an idiot.”

“Of course,” Harry said with a smile.

So, fun fact, I’ve always struggled with chapter titles. For TMTV I decided to try out using a quote from the chapter and I’ve had SO MUCH fun with it. I try to have them relate to the overall theme of the chapter. Which is why this chapter was not "Dumbledore Can Fuck a Cactus", but boy was it tempting.

Merit was born to broken family … Growing up his dad was extremely abusive often hitting him and leaving scars and his dad was always screaming … Merits mother was always busy at work or doing housework so she was never really around . The only things that kept him sane were his little brother and his crows ..His little brother was a cancer survivor and well one day his brothers cancer relapsed and the doctors fucked up the treatment causing him to go into severe liver and kidney failure and inevitably die . At age 13 watching them pull the plug when paired with the doctors and his own fathers lack of empathy made Merit develop Anti social personality disorder and start his spiral into insanity which was further increased when his grandmother also passed from medical negligence when Merit was only 16 . After she passed she left Merit his grandfathers old 1969 mustang Mach 1 which he cherished and fixed up to its proper glory . At age 20 he eventually got tired of his father’s abuse after he put Merit’s mom in the hospital with a coma and he butchered him only getting caught when a neighbor saw his crows pecking at the body and saw Meritcovered in blood sitting on the front step of their home . when the cops arrived to take him in the found him scratching at his arms and laughing muttering incoherently to himself.He was sent to Blackfield to be evaluated During his evaluation he managed to kill three doctors ….they have to keep him heavily sedated and isolated or else he is extremely violent and self destructive and he will try to hurt anyone in his room except for one nurse named Veronica who reminds him of someone he knew before he lost his mind she visits him often …After Merit Got put in blackfield crows started gathering around the asylum ..He had been in the asylum for seven years when Calypso came and offered him a spot in the twisted metal tournament with the promise of getting corvid back he jumped at the offer happy to have the one piece of his family he has left back in his possession and the chance to kill the fuckers who tore his family apart and made him the psychopath he is today . when he drove away from Black field his car was surrounded by a murder of crows .

Johan Elmehag

Johan Elmehag is a designer I keep coming across in my research. His project consist of visualising environmental issues through typography. The project I see the most is the custom typeface he made which reflects what the coasts will look like in the future due to the impact of climate change. This project started with a design problem and the projects purpose rather than what it would look like in the end. These letterforms come to represent different stories and places which makes them so complex and interesting.

Further exploring Elmehag's work I came across this project which I loved. The project explores if computers have gained too much control over design. To give nature a voice and bring back organic and human touch to design letterforms were made out of pieces of bark. This concept is similar to what I have been playing around with for my project. I love the quote "Our human life is full of little errors and in a computer there is no error. And I like when things are not really absolutely, mathematically perfect. I like when there is little error in it, you know. Because I think these little errors talk to us". This quote is from designer Eike Koenig in an interview for TMTV 2009

NEW VILLAINOUS SECRETS ON THE CN LA WEBSITE!

This time it’s a very cool puzzle where you can get a card with your name, like the one you see above! Turn on the TV, as seen in the first photo. You will see flashing colors, write all of them down in the order they’re shown. If you turn off and on the TV you can rewatch the sequence. Each one of these colors will be part of the password. How do I know this? If you go to the rest of CN’s games, you’ll see that their thumbnails glitch out and show a colored letter. For example, ‘Maldad Mecanica’ tells us that the letter ‘E’ is for the color orange. With all of this in mind, here’s all of the letters for each color:  E: yellow R: blue M: pink S: light blue A: green E: orange C: red And there’s your password! It’s randomized, so people won’t have the same password as you. Enter it, then enter your name, and boom! If the TV stays green, reload the page, that should work.

Take Me To Voldemort update- I’ve sorted out the end!

So a whileeee back when my story hit like 200k (300k?) words I realized it might be better off to break it into two stories. I’ve been struggling to find a natural break so it feels like it was intentional. I figured it out and I’m actually so glad because I think this is going to be 100x better than my original plan of one massive story.

When the time comes I’m going to post the final chapter of TMTV and the first chapter of the sequel at the same time. No worries about that, and from there we will continue on the same cadence.

So now I should be getting cleaning done but instead I think I’m gonna write. Or mess around on tumblr for a little longer haha.
