Any tips for someone who wants to start drawing the turtle brothers but is daunted by their anatomy? I've stared at original designs and fanart and it's just too intimidating for me to follow through and attempt 😓

Hey hey! Welp, I guess it depends which versions of the boys you want to draw. Though when it all comes down to it, the best way to go about it, is to break them down into basic shapes. Circles, squares/rectangles, triangles, polygons, cylinders- just basic geometric shapes. Building blocks essentially. Get the basic shape down, then work your way up, adding more and more detail.

I'm sure there's tutorials out there about how to draw the turtles. Though I find the best way to figure that stuff out, is to deconstruct them yourself. Kind of like taking something apart to figure out how it works and then putting it together again. ie: figure out the shape of the shell, from all angles. The shape of legs and arms, how they move, bend, flex. etc

Also: REFERENCES. They are your best friend. Different pics from different angles. Some people make ref sheets, you can try googling them up. But, even better, is when you can find a 3d reference. Especially when it comes to the 2012 boys.

I like to imagine Leo is very affectionate, but when his brothers show him affection, he freezes up. Especially after the invasion, he fucking cries when his brothers show him affection wihtout him needing to "earn it" or anything like that

The turtles aren’t the only ones with mystics on their side. The Shredder wouldn’t allow his archnemesis, let alone the hamato clan, get an upper hand on him. Even if he ends up losing himself in the process.

While still fixated on TMNT at large, I am especially not able to stop thinking about Bad End Ninja Turtles, an au comic by @butterfilledpockets. 2003's "Same as it Never Was" Raph may not have ever experienced the Ninja Tribunal arc, AND I don't think Rise movie Leo still has his powers, so maybe this was just as much of a surprise for the both of them as it was for Ronin. at least we know for sursies Don-bot has seen magic shit before.

Separated Casey AU-

I used a lot of Mirage references for this - but Casey was taken and raised by the Krang. He was brought up by Glurin, named after an Utrom from Mirage:

He's a scientist inside the Technodrome and modified Casey with the Krang enhancements. He acts like Casey's dad and does show him affection. Though, it did give him a complex being known as a human risen above the others. Even if you remove the Krang he would still want humanity's end. At first, the Leader wanted him to be a mindless beast but Glurin convinced him that they could bring him up as a Krang and infiltrate human bases. I'll finish my Glurin's ref sometime...

Casey goes by Shadow (ow edgelord), because he followed the Leader around the Technodrome when he was little and the name stuck. Also another reference to Mirage; Shadow was Casey's daughter.

The Krangification is all internal to better hide himself. Ty for looking at my edge- BYE
