A/N: I woke up not too long ago with a horrible hangover, so of course I had to write about it.

Warnings: Implied drinking, headaches, hangover obviously.

As the sun slowly started to light up your bedroom, Michelangelo was just waking up with a small satisfied hum. Stretching his arms lazily up over his head, he glanced over to the other side of the bed where you, his beloved partner, lay curled up under the covers.

A small smile tugged at Mikey's lips as he remembered the events of the previous night. You had been out partying with your friends, celebrating something or perhaps just enjoying each other's company. Whatever the reason, Mikey couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of you dancing and laughing, your eyes sparkling with joy. But what drew his lips into a bright smile, was when he remembered what had happened when you had returned from your night out.

Last night, Mikey had decided to spend the evening at your place, just in case you needed help with anything when you came home. And had he been right to do so. When you returned home, you almost fell through the door. Mikey had gotten up, ready to help you as you clung onto the door handle, but you shooed him away, telling him that you were perfectly capable of getting into your own apartment on your own. And so Mikey stood back, and tried to hide his laugh as he watched you scrabble across the floor, with a balance only seen with a baby deer on ice. It was adorable and hilarious in Mikey’s eyes, and he enjoyed every moment of it, though standing ready if you needed any help.

Mikey rolled onto his side and took a moment to study your slowly awakening features. Your hair was tousled, and your face was scrunched up in discomfort as you groaned softly, clearly nursing a hangover.

"Hey there, sleeping beauty", Mikey said, his voice gentle as he reached out to brush a stray strand of hair from your face, a grin slowly making its way to his features. "Rough night?"

You cracked open one eye, wincing at the light filtering into the room from your small bedroom window. You really needed to get some thicker curtains.

"Ugh", you groaned, burying your face into the pillow. "Don't remind me".

Mikey couldn't help but chuckle at your misery, though it was all in good fun. He loved you dearly, even when you were nursing a hangover. With a hand doing soft motions onto your arm, soothing your skin and somehow your aching head just a little, he scooted closer to you in order to press a tender kiss to the temple of your head.

"Well, lucky for you, I'm here to take care of you", he said with a grin, before making back from you, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed and getting up.

You watched your boyfriend through half-closed eyes as he moved around the room, and out to the kitchen, gathering some essentials for your recovery. He returned with a glass of water and some pain relievers, offering them to you with a sympathetic smile.

"Here, drink this," he said, holding out the glass of water. "It'll help with the headache".

You accepted the glass gratefully, taking a small sip with the pain relievers, before downing the entire thing in one go. Mikey chuckled at your eagerness, shaking his head fondly. "Easy there, tiger", he teased, ruffling your hair gently, even causing you to giggle, playfully slapping his hand away from your head with slow strained movements, gritting your teeth like a tiger in a just as slow way as before, making Mikey laugh out loud. Though you had a hangover, your humor was still intact.

Mikey disappeared into the kitchen, returning a few minutes later with a plate of toast and some ginger tea. He placed them on the bedside table, giving you a reassuring smile.

"Eat up", he said. "You'll feel better soon, I promise".

You managed a weak smile in return, touched by his thoughtfulness. Despite feeling absolutely miserable, you couldn't help but feel grateful for Mikey's presence and his unwavering care.

As you nibbled on the toast and sipped the tea, Mikey sat beside you, offering you comfort and company as you battled through your hangover together. And though he couldn't resist teasing you every now and then, his love and affection for you shone through, making even the worst hangover seem bearable.

Together, you faced the morning after with laughter and love, knowing that as long as you had each other, there was nothing you couldn't handle. Even a horrible hangover.

The Ninja Turtles may be mutants and fantasy creatures that don't have to abide by human ethics, but they have always been a kind of metaphor for marginalized minority groups - including queer, POC, disabled, and neurodivergent especially ADHD and Autism. It's easy for fans to project our own characteristics. But their asexuality is canonical, which wasn't really well known in the 80s and 90s. The characters were seen having romantic attraction but not really sexual. In fact, the Mirage issue in which Michelangelo was coerced into breeding with an alien princess was the first, and since the volume was never finished, we don't know if the eggs are his.

Oh I almost forgot! The creation of Casey Jones was a response to the fan letters asking for April to hook up with one of the turtles.

It started with 1987 Mikey because Dave turned him into a party dude who kept getting pratfalls and insults in order to entertain us kids who were being given shows like ThunderCats and He-Man and Gummi Bears and things were brand new and while there were goofy characters, nobody was like Michelangelo. Beyond the party dude who made embarrassing jokes and got into embarrassing situations for laughs, was a deeply intuitive sensitive ambivert who was both attention loving social butterfly and introvert with extrovert tendencies, a theater kid with ADHD and the Artist Autistic traits as opposed to the Scientist Autistic traits that would become stereotyped less than two decades later so deeply that Mikey's traits would be overlooked by the fandom in favor of Donnie's more obvious traits throughout the incarnations. The IDW comics started in 2011, and that Mikey was literally a blend of every other Mikey before him, with the class clown tendencies turned down, where he wasn't embarrassed for comic effect or mocked for thinking out loud and being insensitive. He was being the little brother, but not a joker exaggerated, not obnoxious to a fault. It was amazingly refreshing and allowed the rest of him to shine through. When 2012 Mikey would dial up the clownish behavior so the children in the audience could laugh, it was more painful than funny. The writers tried to develop his character growth, but kept backsliding to keep him in comic relief as the storylines got darker. Which is why my love for 2012's potential is so great and why I will pick apart weird details to critique because it could have been a lot better.

Y’all can go ahead and skip this part if you’re not interested in senseless rambling and just wanna get to the TMNT fun~ ;) 

Soooooo, I’ve recently updated my Tumblr page to a blog dedicated to all my fandoms (musing, headcanons, writing, gifs, pics, the works, basically anything and everything in relation to them) since I wasn’t really ever doing anything with it other than using it to share pics mostly. But ever since I stumbled back into the TMNT fandom, I’ve been searching Tumblr for fan content and OMGOSH, did I hit the jackpot! Headcanons, fanfics, Turtle x reader stories, so much juicy stuff! Am hooked! Dunno why I never tried searching for similar stuff in the past for my other fandoms! I guess I just... didn’t realize there was so much content here. :O But anyway, I always wanted a place to share ideas and thoughts regarding my fandoms outside of sites like Deviantart and Fanfiction.net, and heck, it’s been here under my nose all this time... Y’all gonna have to forgive me; I’m an old fart. ;P (Insert image of Slowpoke for reference) So without further ado... 

LET’S GET THIS PIZZA PARTY STARTED! 

Imma start this blog off really simple and, as the title states, just give you all a small-ish idea of where each TMNT universe stands (or ranks?) with me, personally... Note the ‘personally’ part so please don’t feel offended if I don’t share the same opinion as you on a particular verse. ^^; I have my own tastes and will respect the next person’s when it comes to them. ;) Also, please beware the typos (which there most definitely will be)...

MIRAGE COMICS~

Imma just say it: I haven’t read any of them yet. :/ There probably are sites out there that would allow you to view them online for free, but in truth, I’ve been a little slack about trying to find any... That may however change someday as I always tell myself I should really seek out the source material so it’s only a matter of time. What I do know, however, is that they’re of course a lot darker than most incarnations (which I don’t have a problem with personally) and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious as to exactly how much darker. X’D The closest I’ve come to ‘knowing’ these Turts comes from watching the Turtles Forever movie and they weren’t in it for a long time so it’s very difficult to say what they actually mean to me, so we’ll just put these guys down in the ‘not sure’ column for now. ;)

1987 CARTOON~

HAHA~ I think any fan of the franchise as a whole knows this little gem! The series that really hit it off and spawned over a 190 eps! Quite an impressive feat for a Saturday morning cartoon! It made its way to TVs the year before I was born, but it would take another few before it would reach our tubes (we’re always a few years behind the rest of the world :/ ) so I was around four when I was first introduced to it and needless to say, I loved it back then! Michelangelo was initially my fav due to him being my older brothers’ fav and the one they mainly spoke of, but it didn’t take long before my favering gravitated towards Leonardo (even at such a young age) and has been that way ever since. ;) But where exactly does the series stand with me as an adult nowadays with so many other verses we’ve been exposed to? I do hold a lot of nostalgia (as many older do) for it, and I mean, come on, that theme song is ageless, and I even started watching a lot of vids involving the original VAs and the shenanigans they get up to and seriously, it’s so heartwarming and fun to see them! But I have to be honest...

It’s not my fav verse, honestly. I will always adore them, of course, because of the nostalgia and the goofiness... But it’s the latter that’s mostly the reason for it being placed a bit lower on the favoritism ladder. While its a fun watch if you want something lighthearted, I still prefer the idea of the darker undertones that comes with being associated with ninjas. It’s just a preference. Plus, the Turtles designs are big one for me, and I’m sorry to say, but I keep seeing these fellas as more frog-like than turtle, despite the shells. X’D So yeah, no big reasoning for it, and even if someone were to ask me if I like these guys, I’ll still say yes, just that they’re not my ultimate fav is all. ;)

Also, we won’t talk about the Japanese Anime Ninja Turtles: Superman Legend or something to that extent... We’ll just let that one be gently swept under the carpet. ;) Only ever saw the trailer for it and that’s all I’ll ever need to see in my lifetime.

1990 MOVIES TRILOGY~

Now funny enough, I really don’t remember ever seeing these movies as a kid, though it’s possible I did and just maybe blocked the memory, but I highly doubt it... So yeah, I saw these movies as an adult already. The first is praised by most fans, and honestly, I can see why: it’s pretty good! :D The acting is very decent and the humour’s brilliant! The two sequels... not so much but still okay. ;) Where they sit with me... Not too far on the ladder again I’m afraid. :/ While I do really enjoy and appreciate the acting and that humour (”I made a funny.” X’D) it mostly comes down to the Turtles designs again... I really can’t see past them being actors in costumes rather than characters. :’( Granted, good actors. ;) And heck, Jim Henson did a phenomenal job! They’re just not really the movies for me is all, even if I do go back and watch ‘em every now and then. X’D I do however melt every time at the scene in the first movie where Raph wakes up in the bath and Leo’s there and apologizing and all... Makes me all gooey inside! X’D The feels are real! Speaking of Leo, though, he sounds even younger than Mikey. Small nitpick, that, but... why? X’D

But yeah, let’s just say, they’re good movies, just, not my favs.

Also, Coming Out Of Their Shells tour... Yeah, I’m gonna just... pretend that doesn’t exist for a minute.

2003/2k3~

Well it wasn’t already apparent by my avatar... Ladies and gents, I present to you... My fav TMNT verse to date! Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this delicious series?! :D Firstly, animation: so appealing, comic book-y style! Their designs: without sounding pervy, veeeeeeeery appealing (hehehehehe), no seriously, they sometimes have a bitta bulk to them but it honestly works, and dem muscles, and the cool eyes! The VAs: spot on! Perfect! Wouldn’t have ‘em any other way! Make me melt, Mr. Michael Sinterniklaas~ (cough) Their personalities: Omgosh, just yes! So perfect! They’re easily differentiated and yet still work together so well. Leo’s mature and level-headed (well, most of the time ;P ) yet still gets tested a lot and even has a fun side that’s shown on occasion. Raph’s grouchy and violent but is shown on more than one occasion that’s he’s total softie and really does care. Don’s just a sweetheart and freakishly smart and even has slips ups from time to time. Mikey... omgosh, best Mikey ever! So much fun! So hilarious! And just a bundle of energy, but not at all an idiot like he’s sometimes portrayed in other verses. He’s witty, mischievous and just so adorable! Heck, even Master Splinter, April, Casey, the lot of them are just awesome in this series! And wow, they really do lean more towards the source material (or so I’m told) when it comes to the plots! It’s darker than the other previous verses yet still remaining kid-friendly (although I question it at times XD) and omgosh, it’s just everything I want in a TMNT universe! Granted, it’s not perfect perfect, but it nailed it for me. ;) It really showed so lovely character developments, alsortsa different genres, the humour will leave you in stitches, the Turts are all just so lovable, I can’t get enough of them! This series was really my high point and I’ve yet to find one that tops it~

Btw, this even includes Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer (BTTS). The former being my least fav of the series simply due to the setting and again, it’s just preference. I even liked BTTS, even though I’m not overly fond of a cyberspace setting, but I found myself really liking the art style and the general plot. :D 

2007/2k7~

As with the last, if you’ve picked up on the page’s header/banner, you’d have probably guessed that the 2007 movie is also a good candidate for one my favs... And you’d be correct. ;) I’m actually very fond of this movie, and it’s largely due to the Turtles designs. I love how they were done! They just look so cool! <3 Subtle differences tell the viewer who’s who even if they didn’t have a mask or weapons. The VAs were also pretty good~ Now, the story isn’t the greatest, I’ll admit. Personally I thought it was okay, but know many fans think otherwise. But I did like the confrontation between Leo and Raph! It got real there, peeps! :O Now here’s also where it falls a little on its face for me: I didn’t really like how they handled Leo’s personality (if you haven’t already picked up on it, yes, I’m a Leo fangirl and I’m picky when it comes to how they handle his personality) but it’s a nitpick again, yet, I still feel compelled to state my opinion: the whole “I’m better than you.” comment really took me back and made me think they pushed it. I honestly like to believe he’d never actually say something like that... at least, 2003!Leo wouldn’t. X’D But that’s just my problem: I’m comparing a different verse’s Leo to this one and whether I like it or not, he said it. :/ Oh well, it still made for some fun action scenes and I’ll still always like the movie.

Bit of a goof on my side: I honestly thought that this movie was made to tie in with the 2003!verse due to the timeline in which it was produced, but turns out, it’s actually closer to the 1990′s timeline although still considered it’s own verse.

2012/2k12~

Oooh boy, lemme prepare for the backlash real quick... I’m uhhhh... not a fan of these boys. :/ I don’t mind them, but I’m honestly never gonna watch the series again. It’s hard to top your fav when you’ve kinda already hit your high point, ya know. Now before you light your torches and sharpen your pitchforks, hear me out: I will never bash the series, or make fun of anyone who likes it! Or anything to that extent! It’s just wasn’t for me, plain and simple, and it’s got nothing to do with it being ‘new’ or I’m just an old fart stuck in my ways. Heck, If you’re still reading, you would’ve found out that even nostalgia couldn’t beat the series that grasped me in my teens! So no, it has nothing to do with age. But if you do need a reason: I wasn’t overly fond of how they handle the characters. For one, they look and act a bit too young, Mikey is just... wow, something else. Donnie’s... sheesh, pretty snappy and antagonising. Raph’s well... okay, he’s meant to be angry half the time, and they did give him some more layers with Spike and Mona Lisa and whatnot, but he still kinda never learns his lesson if I can say that? He’ll learn that he shouldn’t cause issues with others, yet next episode he’s back at it again. :/ Leo’s... wow, just not like other Leos. X’D Best way I can describe him is... young? Very childlike. And even when he was progressing to becoming this better leader, I honestly couldn’t even see the change. My mind was just stuck on this “He’s a babeh.” notion. Also, I’m not even gonna start on this April and Casey. Just. No. Most of the characters were annoying and I just kept seeing recycled plot after plot. What I did like was the romance that blossomed between Raph and Mona (albeit far too rushed) and even Donnie liking April was adorable (but seriously Donnie, you can do so much better), and there were some really heartfelt moments, like Splinter telling Leo to leo his brothers with his heart and not his head, and the scenes when they were Tots will always make me squeal... But yeah... without leaving any spoilers.... about Splinter... just... thanks, Nickelodeon. Y’all know what I mean. Not once... But twice.... Really? So yeah, look, I realized some of those reasons might even be petty, but again, it’s just not the series for me, but anyone who’s a fan... You keep being a fan! ;) I’m glad you can enjoy something I can’t. ;)

2014/2k14/2016/2k16 AKA BAYVERSE~

HAHA~ Every fan’s favorite... If only. X’D Jokes aside, despite many fans claiming the Bay movies ruined the franchise, these two films gathered a small following... And I’m apart of it. :) Funny enough, I honestly didn’t know what to think of them when the movie first came out. I think I was just taken aback by the sheer amount of detail and all that went into their designs. I didn’t not like them, but again, their designs were a lot to take in. :O Even now after seeing the movies quite a few times over, I find myself constantly discovering something I didn’t notice on them before, be it a strap or a scar etc. And it honestly took some getting use to their sizes, I mean, sheesh! :O Not to mention the different background story, and Megan Fox’s wooden, expressionless acting, but despite all that... I found myself actually growing attached to these hulks of Turtles. They still have a lot of that heart in them and plus they’re just so much fun, I mean, can we say ‘Elevator scene’? X’D Now again, not perfect by anys mean, but still fun and pretty decent incarnations to add to the franchise. Again, Leo’s been given this ‘Better than you’ a bit which irked me to be frank. Not always but it’s there sometimes, but otherwise alright. Raph’s a decent Raph. Even had some tender moments. Donnie’s adorable! X’D This slightly potty mouthed geek that you just gotta love. And Mikey... although given that bitta ‘idiot’ feel, is also just as lovable and you want to hug him every time he’s onscreen! 

In short, I like ‘em. :) They’re actually closer to the top of the ladder than some others.

RISE OF THE TMNT/ROTTMNT/2018/2K18~

Yeeeeeeeeuuuuuuh... no. Sorry. Not for me. :/ Again, gonna remind y’all, nothing to do with age. Nothing to do with change. I will say that the fluid animation is nice, and the fact that they chose 2D animation. :) Buuuuuut, wow, they were certainly a lot to take in. Almost as much as Bay’s Turtles. After watching a few eps, I will conclude that they really just aren’t what I’m looking for. I found that the constant joking, while sometimes funny, got a little bit much, plus such short eps. Raph being leader was a switch and one that took awhile to get use to and honestly, I’m just not for it, I don’t even know where to begin with Donnie, Mikey’s okay, Leo... (deep breath) I don’t know what they were thinking... Let’s not even go to Master Splinter. But anyways, I get that change was what they were going for and that it was more so based on the 1987 toon with the silliness so that’s fine. I’m glad it’s got so many fans. :) And honestly, I wanna end off just by saying...

That no matter what your thoughts on what I’ve said, I hope you can respect my opinions and choices cause at the end of the day, they’re just my own, and I will always respect yours! :D If you adore the verses I’m not too crazy about, that’s great! :D I want you all to love the heck out of them! And honestly, this is what’s so great about this franchise: there are so many verses to choose from! So many options and tastes to suit any and all! You don’t have to follow the masses! You go enjoy whichever incarnation(s) you want to! ;)

Hey, look, the first real look into Michelangelo. Naturally, one of my favorite issues in the franchise. When I write Mikey in my fics, be it Rise, 2003, 2012, Bayverse... I use the Mike in this issue as his foundation. I scatter through his vocabulary the slang and flirtatious 'stupid' goofiness and lack of understanding because David Wise's alteration for 1987 influenced everything after. And now that he's been revealed as ADHD, though undiagnosed, I can keep all of that as blended in with extraordinary empathic insight, something that the cartoons and movies only hinted at in subtext, tossed through dialogue but not shown for what it is. We knows he's always been emotional and sensitive. Even though 2003 claimed he wasn't, instead being arrogant, egoistic, manipulative, mischief-making, overly cheerful goof who seemed woefully uneducated, had to be reminded to pay attention and stop thinking of food, even though they grew up starving and raiding dumpsters so it's part of his PTSD. 2012 had shown more emotional depth and versatility, and even though it was easy to headcanon Mikey as prone to depression, anxiety, sensory processing dysfunctions, he was written as bouncy, constantly cheerful and optimistic, but also quite unintelligent, basically stupid, with moments of brilliance that his brothers ignore or don't take seriously or think it's too ridiculous. He's put down easily for his humor, coping skills seen as a nuisance, and deep intuition that isn't believed. The show's character growth consistently slipped a Mikey went back and forth. But it appears that Mikey's first origin comic is the true happy medium.

It’s New Year’s Eve and Michelangelo decides to make something different this night, and what a better way of starting the new year, than by getting into a party? But soon he realizes things are not going to go down as expected… which is totally radical.

SCORE: 8

Once again, Michelangelo is established as the “party dude”, even if it is just because of the circumstances of the story. I am OK with that. In my opinion, Mikey is usually the party dude in title only. He is never really that kind of person. He is cheerful and expressive, and in some adaptations, not that bright but full with positive emotions. In the comics he is usually the most empathetic. In this incarnation, he is still in development, but at least he breaks the farce to bust the heist (something that Raphael may not do).

The art is… not exactly for everyone. But I have seen worse TMNT art (A. C. Farley has a very unique style for the turtles I never really appreciated… although sometimes he makes them look great).

Just Friends (Angst) (Slight 18+)

A/N: Just an idea I’ve been playing around with for some time. It has a pretty open and maybe even a bit sad ending, because that’s what I felt like today, lol😂❤️

All characters are aged up.

Warnings: Mentioning of sex, conflicting emotions, fear of loss, failed discussions about relationship titles, unconfessed feelings.

It started out as a distraction. A way for Raphael to forget the cruel world around him and his brothers. A way for him to get some much needed release of his pent up frustrations, that just wouldn’t leave his body, no matter how hard he trained, or how hard he punched a Foot ninja.

It started one night when he came to your apartment, looking for you, one his best friends, who was filling to leant him an ear, so he could ramble out about his anger and all of his fears, along with the things that was building up, only making him more stressed and upset. But that night was different. Raph was more than stressed and angry. He was shaky, unsure of himself, and he wanted nothing more than for you to listen to him, and maybe even hug him. Anything to release the burden that had been put on his shoulders.

Once at your place, sitting with you on your couch, he told you everything. Master Splinter had decided it was time to exact revenge on Oroku Saki, the Shredder, and has tasked Raphael with delivering the message the next day.

Raph had been training for his all his life. He had always known this day would come, yet he was nervous, with an unease growing inside of him. Raphael was scared.

It was during this emotional confession, that something snapped inside of Raph. He wasn’t sure where it came from, but as soon as Raph had admitted to his fears, his lips were one yours in a heated feverish kiss, your tongues clashing together in a sloppy dance, with lewd sounds escaping both of your mouths. That night Raph fucked you into pillows of your couch, pounding out everything that had build up inside of him, replacing it with immense pleasure for both of you.

The next night, after having delivered the message to the Shredder, Raph came to your apartment through the window once again. Once entering through your window, he said nothing. He did not answer your question of how it went, instead he pulled you in for another kiss, just as heated as the night before, this time moving the two of you into your bedroom. And from that point, it kept going, almost every other night when Raph would feel some sort of overwhelming feeling. Even the night before, and the night after Raph and his brothers battle against the Shredder, he came to your apartment, seeking out a moment of pleasure to work through his thoughts, or maybe even leave them behind for a moment.

But even though you and Raph’s friendship took a physical turn, there was no admission of any feelings. Raph never gave any notice of any feelings towards you, and you never gave any notice for any feelings towards Raph. And neither did the two of you let Raph’s family know what you got up to. Whenever they would ask what you had been up to, you and Raph would answer with a simple “just talking”.

But as time went on, you couldn’t stop your mind from racing, bringing up one question after another. Were you into Raph? Was he into you? Were you two a thing now? Did Raph think you two were a thing? Or were you just hoping for Raph to think so? And as Raph came over one more night, those thoughts ran through your head, only giving you peace for a moment, when Raph descended upon you with open mouth kisses, and firm hands grabbing onto your thighs, carrying you to your bed with the intention of rocking your world yet another night. And so he did, like he did any other night.

That night, Raph brought you one earthquaking orgasm after another with nothing but his tongue, leaving you whimpering in pleasure, unable to string together a full sentence. Raph had simply growled at this, before turning you over on your stomach, forcing you up on your knees, before slamming his member into you, holding your arms up behind your back, using your own weight to bounce back against him. The loud slapping for your skin echoing through the room, with nothing but Raph’s names leaving your lips.

It didn’t take long in this position, before both you and Raph came, collapsing onto the bed, breathing heavily in order to catch your breath. You turned onto your side to face Raph, your legs shaking as you moved, having gotten weak from Raph’s hard thrusting. Raph was already getting comfortable on your bed, offering you part of the blacket he had already draped over himself. You took the offer, sliding under the blanket, trying not to make your weak legs hurt more than they already did.

“Ya okay?”, Raph asked, noticing you wince as you moved.

“Yeah”, you said, biting back a pained sound as you flopped down next to him. “Just well spent”.

Raph chuckled with a smug smile, placing his hands behind his head, resting back against your pillow with a satisfied self pleased sound. “What can I say? I got skills”.

You chuckled along, always having found Raph’s comments entertaining. But your chuckles soon died out, when you remembered the many concerns that had been plaguing your mind. You took another look at Raph, seeing how he had closed his eyes, most likely trying to relax enough, until he would fall asleep. You bite the inside of your cheek, thinking of the questions that had been going through your head, finally deciding to have a talk with Raph about it. He was your friend after all.

“Uhm… Raph”, you started, playing with your fingers as you started to get nervous.

“Yeah?”, Raph asked, still not opening his eyes, looking as peaceful as ever.

“If you don’t mind me asking”, you said, taking a moment to think through your next words, causing Raph to open his eyes, only to be shocked at your next words. “What are we?”

Raph was somewhat shocked by your question. It was not one he had thought you would ask him. He would be lying if he said he had never thought about it, but it certainly wasn’t something he felt ready to think more about.

“We’re friends, aren’t we, (Y/N)?”, he answered confusedly with a question of his own, feeling a slight fear grow inside of him. This was definitely not a conversation he felt ready for.

“Okay, so we are friends with benefits?”, you asked, causing a slight reaction of disdain from Raphael. That was not a title he liked, especially not with you. You were his best friend, and worth so much more. But the “friends with benefits” title sounded demeaning to him, like he thought you were something else than a friend of his.

“(Y/N), why are we talking about this?”, Raph asked, sitting up straight, a slight look of irritation written over his face. “I don’t see you as a “friends with benefits”, so why are you asking?”

“Then what do you see me as?”, you asked, growing slightly irritated yourself. “I’m asking because I don’t know. I can’t read your mind”.

Raph’s mind was racing. He came to you, who he would consider his best friend, for support and a place he could relax his mind. Sure, your friendship had taken a drastic physical turn, but he was not ready to have this kind of conversation, especially not when he did not know what tomorrow would bring, or if the nature of his dangerous and strange life would even let him survive for that long. This was not what he needed right now.

“I have to go”, was all Raph said, before getting up from the bed, heading towards your window, ignoring your shocked expression.

“What the hell, Raph?!”, you asked, moving yourself to the edge of the bed, letting the blanket fall from your naked body. “You can’t just leave like that!”

“Yes I can”, Raph said, opening your window before swinging a leg out on your fire escape.

“Please, Raph”. Your whimpering came as a surprise to both you and Raph. Neither of you and expected such a pained plea to leave your body. “Why can’t you tell me?”

Raph swallowed, before looking at you for a moment, his throat growing a little tighter at the side of you, naked on your bed, fighting tears that was pushing from behind your eyes. It was heartbreaking. Raph felt horrible, like he had hurt you on purpose.

“I don’t know”, Raph said, feeling his mouth dry out. “I need time to think. See you around, (Y/N)”. And with those words he left out of your window, climbing your fire escape before running over the roof, heading towards the lair. He felt a pain in his heart, remembering your pained expression when he disappeared out the window, wishing to do nothing more, than to return to you, and give in to all the feelings that had been going through him, ever since he first realized his growing feelings for you. But Raph wasn’t ready. He simply wasn’t in a state, where he trusted himself enough to take your relationship any further. He feared hurting you, and he feared losing you. He feared that if something were to happen to him, you would be pained. Or that something would happen to you, do to what his father had trained him for. So for the moment being, you were just friends. When Raph’s brothers asked, he would always answer the same. Just friends. Just friends till he finally wasn’t scared anymore.

Priorities was something Leonardo often found himself measuring. Weighting them up against each other, basing his decisions on much more than his own wants and needs, but the protection of his family. And for that reason the disciplined and steadfast leader of the ninja turtles, found that his dedication to his duty often tested the boundaries of his personal life.

Amidst the chaos of battling against nefarious villains, Leonardo found solace in the company of a remarkable individual - you. A human he had met without the knowledge of his father and brothers, intending to keep you a secret, both for you and his family’s protection. Yet your presence brought a sense of tranquility to his tumultuous life, a gentle reminder of the humanity he fought to preserve amidst the chaos of their world.

It had started out innocently enough. Leonardo had saved you from one of the many dangers of the street, before making sure you got home safely. That turned into him coming to your apartment at least once a week, making sure you were okay. That continued for several weeks, until you finally invited the mutant into your apartment. And as if fate had wanted it, that night ended up with you and Leonardo making out on your couch, followed by him rocking your world in your bed.

Leonardo would visit you as often as possible, whenever his chaotic life allowed it, as soon, whatever connection you had formed started to develop. You never put a label on it, as a label meant another responsibility for Leonardo to look after. A responsibility he might not live long enough to see come to fruition. But he still cared for you, deeply. And though he never brought you to meet any of his family members, he told you about them. Their small arguments and his strong love for them, and how strongly he felt for the duties his Master Splinter had put upon him.

Leonardo enjoyed every moment he spent with you. His only complaint was that he wished he could do it more often. Feel your flesh and your breath as you called out his name, your nails clawing down his arms. How you hugged him tightly in every way possible, begging him to bring you the high that only he could give you. And then, after bringing you both the pleasure you had been seeking since you last saw each other, you would rest in each other’s arms, and tell one another about all the things that had weighed you down. It was something that Leonardo looked forward to everyday. With every tiring battle, with every drop of blood dripping from his katana, and with every ache of his muscles, Leonardo wished for the day he could see your face and feel your body again, calming down his strained mind.

However, as the battles grew more intense with time, Leonardo's commitments to his duties as leader began to strain his relationship with you. The constant demands of protecting the city left little time for personal connections, and Leonardo found himself torn between his responsibilities as a ninja and his desire to nurture his bond with you. He often found that he missed the feeling of your skin against his under your warm covers, and the silky smooth fabric of your sheets. Your lips against each other’s, and the sweet relief you provided him, along with a short peaceful moment. The two of you soon found that you had to wait weeks before you could see each other again, and that was what drained Leonardo the most.

One fateful evening, as Leonardo returned to your place after one particularly grueling mission. He found you waiting for him on your couch, covered in a warm blanket, greeting him with a smile. However the smile faltered when you saw the expression on his face. The weariness etched into his features did not escape your notice as you approached him, concern lacing your voice.

"Leo, you look exhausted", you remarked softly, reaching out to gently brush your hand against his arm. "What happened tonight?"

Leonardo sighed, his gaze drifting away as he struggled to find the words to express the turmoil raging within him. It had been so long since he last saw you, and right now he just wanted to forget all the things he had been through since the last time. 

"I... I don't really want to talk about it, (Y/N)", he simply said, leaving you staring at him with a stunned expression.

Your heart ached at the vulnerability in his voice, understanding the weight of his burden all too well. Yet you could not help feel a slight pain in your chest, like his words had just jabbed you straight in the heart, leaving a small indent.

"Leo”, you said, bringing your hand to his face. “I know how important your duty is to you, but you can't keep sacrificing your own well-being for the sake of others. You need to find a balance, for your own sake as well as ours".

The tension between you hung thick in the air, a silent testament to the conflicting emotions swirling within both of you. You could almost see the emotions and thoughts as they went through his head. Leonardo's eyes met yours, his expression a mixture of regret and determination.

"I... I'll try, (Y/N). I promise", he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper as he reached out to cup your cheek in his hand, his thumb stroking your cheek as he admired your face. The face that he had found himself dreaming about for so many days and nights. "But please, understand that my duty as leader will always come first. I care about you, and I will do everything I can to see you, but it's who I am. It's what I was born to do".

Your heart clenched at his words, a bittersweet reminder of the sacrifices that came with loving a hero like Leonardo. Like he said; it was who he was, and there was no changing that. With a heavy sigh, you leaned into his touch, silently accepting the reality of your situation.

"I know, Leo”, you whispered, your voice tinged with resignation. "I just hope that one day, we can find a way to make it work - together."

And as you stood there, wrapped in each other's embrace, you couldn't help but wonder if love was truly enough to bridge the divide between duty and desire in the heart of a hero like Leonardo.

As the night stretched on, the shadows of New York City whispered tales of sacrifice and devotion, a testament to the unwavering courage of those who dared to love in the face of adversity. And amidst it all, you and Leonardo were wrapped up in your sheet, feeling the comfort the two of you had been craving for weeks now, bound by a love that defied the boundaries of your worlds. You knew that it was going to be hard to make this work, but you were willing to try. Even if it meant going weeks before seeing and kissing Leonardo again, you would try. Just like Leonardo was going to try for you, even if other matters were pressing on. You would try for each other.
