My last artfight things for this year :3

My birthday came and went. We did go out for brunch at a new restaurant and we went window shopping at the local Disney outlet. Can’t really do gifts this year because we’re in the middle of our move. My husband did buy me that one simba figure last month and I found a mufasa ornament at Walmart day before yesterday ^^ so I don’t need anything else.

37 is going to be a really bizarre year. Honestly hope next birthday is boring too. Boring because we are settled with a boring routine.

Otherwise, I realized my daily 5 year journal got packed and I won’t be able to remember anything to back log everything that’s happened. It’s on its final days to complete its 5 year journey too lol.

I’m thinking about next year getting a single year journal but filling it out in Spanish.

Our furniture is totally gone. The first night my luxury air mattress popped and tried to suffer through it as it was a slow leak but it became so wobbly it was making me sea sick as if it was a waterbed. Ended up sleeping on the ground and had to run out the next day for a new air mattress. Each of the past few days we’ve been cleaning individual rooms and shutting them down. Today we began tackling the kitchen. We still have to use it for a few more days so can’t completely clean it til last. But we completely tore apart and cleaned the fridge. Tomorrow we’re going to tackle the oven.

Army’s screwed up my husbands leave plans already and that’s adding a bit more stress. But he’s supposed to finally be done with everything now except the day we leave.

Meanwhile, getting discouraged at the jobs available that my husband might qualify for when we move. Looking at cost of rentals and our pay. I’m low key wondering if we’ve made a mistake deciding to move to that end of the country. I know in the end everything will end up fine. Just with my first pay check I really want to go on a mini shopping spree.

2 anyone here remember being on TLKFAA and just collectively adopting the canon about Mufasa, Taka, and their parents Ahadi and Uru because as far as I'm concerned that's more canon to me than whatever this bs is

one of the saddest adult experiences i had recently on the internet was refinding an artist whose art was MASSIVELY inspiring to me as a kid like id think abt it as an adult and be like man that was good, and so specifically geared towards what kid me would love, and finding his furaffinity and realizing he was a really bad person but bcuz i was a kid i didnt notice i just ignored the art i didnt understand and focused on how much i loved seeing dragon ball z-esque lion furries

It is again not morning, but again I'd like to keep up with some meta messages because I feel bad about leaving those for too long. Sorry!

@sukalaap Ya know, this actually made me consider whether or not future cameos (which I still promise will be an infrequent thing) could be Africanized characters from other franchises. Now I'm imagining the 101 Dalmatians as a mass pack of African Wild Dogs.

Also, shoutout to Akril. I've been in love with her work for years. She's a veritable scholar of the TLK franchise, genuinely. Definitely a TLKFAA gallery I'd recommend rooting through.

@willtheraven1 Yes, I have some headcanons regarding Zira that place her within the same generation as Simba. Just feel like it makes her relationship to and obsession with Scar more complex/awful.

I don't think my next few posts will include her, but if you guys are curious about my cub design for her, I'd be willing to share some concept art.

I'd also just like to say that I've been developing an original project and am also in a bit of a funk right now, so I apologize for updates being slow. I've always got new ideas for this blog, I just gotta get my rear in gear and make them real.

okay so back around 2009 to 2011 i had my first encounter with vocaloid, HOWEVER it was through a piece of fanart.

in this time period i found a drawing on the lion king fanart archive (tlkfaa or fanart.lionking.com) where someone had drawn kiara in the style of of the "crime and punishment" by deco*27 pv. in fact it was specifically a redraw of this frame but with kiara

if i remember correctly, the caption was the lyrics to the song ("if you had the ears that i had, I'd sing my love to you, but would you hear me" or something to that effect) and "kiara about kovu" or something similar.

ive seriously tried to find this picture so many times and come up empty handed. you'd think with so many specific details id be able to find it, so the artist may have purged their account on the site or something. BUT if anyone can help id appreciate it 💕

More artfight things part 3

I have literally uploaded to almost every social media today, which has taken almost the entire day. My dog has been staring at me in disappointment for hanging out in this room for hours.

Happy 30th Anniversary to The Lion King. Which is crazy because I saw the original in theaters when I was 6 years old way back in 1994. I don't even know where the time went. I even took my little sister to the 20th anniversary rerelease in theaters.

I don't think it could be anymore obvious this might be my favorite movie of all time. The weird reactions I get to my merchandise collection or the tattoo I put on my body and probably shouldn't have. I don't think the affect this movie has had on my life could be anymore evident and what it means to me cant be described. I remember watching the movie as a kid and deciding I wanted to be an animator. That didn't happen (though I did take..some animation courses in college, believe it or not). But it did introduce me to a lovely community online which changed the trajectory of my art for the rest of my life. I'm not sure what my parents think of my weird quirk but I don't think my mother can judge my obsession considering her own! but I'm sure it'd be easier to brag on a child if they obsessed over something slightly less childish? Oddly enough my art is more Disney now than it was when I was in the community as a kid..so..I dont know what that means.

But the music still makes me cry, I still look at clouds and think to myself "oh those are lion king clouds" when its particularly cloudy with the sun rays shining through. I can't get over how pretty the character designs are. I still enjoy collecting the merch. I can still smell the toy aisle when I was a kid and that sensation of what it was like to walk through the store with "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" playing overhead on the radio back when the movie was brand new.

oddly enough though, it is the one disney movie that I will not rewatch because I have an internalized fear that I may hate it. My only regret is, is the timing for this anniversary couldn't be worse. I feel guilty spending money when I don't have a paycheck coming in and we are getting ready to move and I should stop collecting so much stuff. But look at all the new merch coming out! I do get messages from people all the time "did you see this new item? this new item?" and I have to keep talking myself out of buying them.

Also, sadly the movie is not being rereleased in my area 8(

this is so specific, but when i was a kid in like 2008, i used to go on this lion king fanart website that i was obsessed with and your art style reminds me of the types of art i'd see on there. i haven't visited that site in years, but looking through your art has me feeling very nostalgic. your character designs and the way you render things gives me a very warm sensation :)

i love this bc ive been a member of tlkfaa since 2007 and i still post there when i draw lion art lol, so i guess that explains it :)

2005 was, of course, the good old days of TLKFAA! So a familiar face for you! (December, obviously)

2009 was the year Cranberries was born and I was going to do that picture but then I found these idiots, remember them? From May.

2011 was a bit busy because of college, so I don't have much you would recognize (there is some Silverwood and stuff but ehhh). I like this piece though. From June.

2021 was when I was doing that redraw project, so look at our babies <3 <3 <3 I still love the way Viper's face turned out here. From August.

id say its all the warrior cats fanart i drew growing up but i always made more big predator animal ocs (esp big cats) in general it is just how i work i suppose. warrior cats was huge w my art but i guess furry art and tlkfaa made more of an impact on my oc preferences
