I can't tell if I have bad hearing or something, but when I listened to the cleaned up audio of the Loumand 2x04 fight, I still could not make out *any* clear words or at least nothing close to what that fan did. Are other people actually hearing what's in that fan transcript??
I saw a (a bit) cleaned up version somewhere (forgot to bookmark, and you know how Twitter sucks TL-wise these days), I think that was used and that seemed pretty close. *shrugs*

[[For clarity’s sake as somehow people are still seeing this, this was posted after 2x04 “Watcher” with no knowledge of anything subsequent.]]
Can we just talk about how Seven is so dedicated to keeping Raffi on track, trying to support her, displaying more acts of self-initiated physical contact than we’ve probably seen in the entire rest of her character’s airtime put together
((((i tried to start literally counting it up: this episode alone or even all of S2 vs Picard S1 + all of VOY, but adult!me determined there are apparently limits to how much time I’m allowed to spend on blorbos when also accumulating hundreds of thousands of dollars of graduate school debt, so i guess just trust our collective Seven-stan memories here))))
and it’s all because Raffi with Elnor is Seven with Icheb and that went so terribly wrong; she spent 13 years just losing herself again until she could vaporize that bitch
and so when she says “losing him was not your fault”
-- like, the fucking pain there that’s she’s suppressing for Raffi, because in so many ways (literally-directly, indirectly by leading Bjazyl to him, etc) losing Icheb was Seven’s fault,
and maybe, 13 years and a little bit of closure later it doesn’t hurt as much but afaik, even in the extended canon (i.e. No Man’s Land), there’s not been anything to suggest she’s fully told that backstory to anyone.  So Raffi has no idea that Seven so viscerally understands and tbf in probably a worse way because even 13 years later, even finally getting her murder!closure, there’s no way to emotionally logically anything-ly ever really accept that it wasn’t her fault because it was
(and that’s not even getting into how -- the show seems to be ignoring this so far, which is consternating, but Elnor family-bonded with Seven as well in season 1, and then also was killed by her “lover” -- even if Seven wasn’t momfigure as much as Raffi, I kind of hate that they’ve ignored the repeated pattern in favor of her just supporting Raf.  Holding out hope they address this, but definitely have faith that fanon’s gonna jump all over that because we love  ♫♩trauma♩♫)
she just has to try to keep going, because . . . “every damn day of my life” etc.
talk about fucking character growth, and even just irl human inspiration -- she fucked up and bad things happened and she’s gotten to a point that she can live with that and just try to keep helping people, but also allow herself to be open to emotional engagement (despite how that’s what got Icheb killed in the first place)
and so for her to be trying to support Raffi so much -- they misdirected us with the “cellular photograph” scene that it would be Seven totally unable to fit in in the 21st century, but in this latest episode, it’s Raffi who needs Seven’s rationality and temperance (other than in driving skills lmao) to keep from blowing everything
and it makes sense -- Seven still falls back on borgspeak sometimes, especially without her cortical node or other implants in this AU, can’t find the correct vocabulary and has to rely on honed skills of improvisation and charm (and privilege of being pretty and white in the 21st century); but her still tightly-regulated emotions so perfectly complement how Raffi’s are out of control right now
but just the fact that she can have that control when the parallels are so fucking obvious is . . . i mean, i’m really hoping it’s not just “this is something fandom noticed that they didn’t think of at the time” and we get some kind of scene where it all comes out, but either way
-- anyway, this is way tl;dr but have my seven meta for the night

I've seen Ben stans say that Devi does whatever she wants and faces no consequences, which is the exact opposite of what happens on thhe show.
exactly!!! you get it!!
here is a mostly complete list of all the consequences devi has faced due to her actions (disclaimer: i did include a few smaller/less serious instances, but not everything. for example i did not include the few times her mother scolded her about small things. also, some of these are more passive than others.):
1x01: being sent to the office by shapiro after fighting with ben (at approx. 19mins)
1x01: being made to cart around computer equipment with ben by grubbs (again at approx. 19 mins)
1x03: being grounded by her mother for lying and going to a party (also getting mauled by a coyote) (at approx. 24 mins)
1x05: paxton going off on her for the rumor she started about them having sex, leading to him ignoring her until the pool scene in 1x08 (at approx. 26 mins)
1x08: eleanor and fab taking a "friend break" from devi due to her ditching them for paxton (at approx. 9 mins)
1x10: idk if anyone will really agree with this, but i think almost missing her father's ashes being spread because she was too busy fighting with her mother would count as a "consequence." the anxiety she must have felt, thinking she wouldn't get to say goodbye to him.
2x02: do i really need to say it?? losing both ben and paxton because she cheated on them. we all know. (at approx 24 mins & approx. 28 mins)
2x03 onwards: "crazy devi" (at approx. 3 mins)
2x03: paxton making her do his schoolwork because of the cheating / him breaking his arm while running away from her (at approx. 8-9 mins)
2x04: again, do i need to say it? ben's whole speech. "no. no, we're not even. we're not even close to even. devi, you followed him. at the party, you followed him, and you left me behind. we're not friends, so stop pretending like we are." she knows she's lost ben. the consequence is losing ben. (at approx. 21 mins)
2x05: being made to do the relay because she kept skipping phys ed (at approx. 5 mins)
2x06: being suspended due to the eating disorder rumor she spread about aneesa (at approx. 23 mins)
2x06: losing aneesa's friendship and trust (however temporary) because of the eating disorder rumor.
2x09: losing the last voicemail her father ever left her, because she was literally stalking her mother (at approx. 11 mins)
anyways. obviously this isn't totally complete and i included some small things and didn't include others. but this is everything i found while watching on 1.5x speed and skimming through each episode for about an hour of my time.
tl;dr: devi has faced consequences for her dumbass actions multiple times. yes she is a mess. yes she keeps screwing up. but that doesn't mean she hasn't been held accountable and it doesn't mean she isn't trying.

Hi there, love your blog! was wondering if you could help me find a scene that I'm only half-convinced I'm remembering correctly, basically I have a vague memory of Lilah walkin on a rooftop all smug and dramatic, possibly while watching Angel fight. No worries if nothing comes to mind it's just been driving me crazy lol, thanks
hi! thanks! i love that you and everyone following love the blog cause it makes me love running it 😊
okay so fair warning i'm a bigger fan of btvs so i've seen it and know it far better than ats and i haven't even rewatched ats fully in awhile (currently doing the world's slowest rewatch for like a year or two and only on mid s2).
but immediately my brain was like s4! and i think if this isn't a made up memory/dream you have then it's most likely to have happened between s2-4.
but she is also in s1 so that's still a possibility and she's only in 36 episodes, so i could do some sifting through those episodes when i have some time later but for now i figured i would list all the episodes she's in if anyone else wanted to do that.
but also maybe one of the 200+ followers who might all know the show better than i do or at least have seen it more recently, might know exactly what scene you're talking about.
TL;DR: which episode possibly features Lilah walking on a rooftop looking smug and dramatic while possibly watching Angel fight? (sidenote: i just had a memory of i think Lilah and Gavin watching Angel fight from afar... so if i'm right that would narrow it down to episodes with both Lilah AND Gavin.)

Hot take on Villanelle and her character arc in the next few episodes:
I don’t necessarily think that her interaction with Bin Baby is what sparked a sudden interest in her family - if anything, it’s been a slowburn build in her psyche since last season. At the end of the day, Villanelle thrives off of being in control of situations, and Eve (and her bus scene reaction) have certainly thrown a wrench in her perfectly controlled plans. We also know that as a psychopath/sociopath, she doesn’t feel emotion like a neurotypical person would.
A part of her wonders if she’s deserving of real love, which is why she’s so fascinated by the reactions of the father and the nanny towards the baby in 3x03, and why we hear her talking to Konstantin about what she was like when she herself was a baby.
Tumblr media
In her mind, she’s never felt that kind of love before, and so she’s going to the most basic source of unconditional love, her parents/family. I think the closest thing she’s ever had to that, is with Dasha and Konstantin, though we know that they’ve both betrayed her before.
After reading that excerpt from an interview with the Suzanne Heathcote, the smile after the bus scene also makes more sense. Villanelle had the upper hand during the bus fight at the beginning, because she’s the one that sought out Eve, and was the initiator. Eve had to react to the situation, and that reaction took Villanelle by surprise. Once again, she lost control of the situation, but instead of a negative outcome, this time she was pleasantly surprised.
If anything, that’s what sparks Villanelle’s interest in seeking out her family. She realizes that there are certain feelings now between her and Eve, and not sure if she’s capable of reciprocating them, the only way she knows to approach this novel situation is to do her research, i.e. find out if she’s capable of holding the same kind of feelings. This is why she’s going to go to find her family.
I did a season 1&2 rewatch before this season started, and I think the most striking episode is 2x04, AKA this one:
Tumblr media
It’s the first time that we see her show any significant emotion, and it’s because she feels as though she’s lost control. She had planned that gruesome Amsterdam murder with the intention of bringing Eve to the city, but when Jess is sent instead, she realizes that she doesn’t have as much control as she had thought. If there’s one thing I remember from my Psychology classes in college, it’s that we mirror emotions of those that we see around us, both as adults and more significantly, as infants. Regardless of whether or not she’s actually sad in this scene, just by watching yourself be sad, you can trick yourself into feeling it a little bit. Eve did the same thing in that episode, just trying to instill confidence in herself rather than despair.
Tl;dr If there’s anything Villanelle thrives on, it’s control. She could care less about the killing, or the money, or the fashion. She’s trying to maintain a sense of control in her life, and Eve has completely thrown her off her game. Starting last season and really manifesting in the kiss on the bus, we’ve seen how Villanelle has started to lose control of that relationship. It’s evolving beyond her knowledge set (there are feelings involved now), and her going to find her parents is her way of figuring out if she’s always been the way she is now (a lovable psychopath) or if she was ever capable of love in the first place.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk, I clearly have too much time during quarantine to thing about these fictional characters....

do you have any favourites parts of season 2? (I agree that the plot has been.... Thin? Non-existent?) But what are the things about this season that you've enjoyed?
hello anon! a few things i’ve enjoyed are:
-the new guest stars. watkins, hill, and raphael are knocking it out of the park. we waited longer than i wanted to to see june and dulé but hey, at least they’re here now! im already kinda attached to their characters and im pretty sure all of them are gonna get fucked over so im scared fjgkjhfdg
-just seeing all these mf characters again. ive missed them so much kjhgkdfjh i could watch them watch paint dry and id be okay with that bc i just MISSED THEM
-CONNIE. RESURGENCE. OMFG. i saw xosha roquemore (the actress who plays her) credited for 2x05 a couple weeks back and i FREAKED. OUT. god why do i love this narc. acab except for connie because i like her and she’s pretty (seeing her in full color and 80s style was a REVELATION)
-mo coming back ugh i missed him at the jammer group. seeing him complacent and beaten down HURT. im ready to see him fuck blair up i love blair but he’s walking away in handcuffs this season if mo has anything to say about it
-blair/harris. ok they’re cute i said it (plus they’re easily getting the most screentime out of all the couples this season which is nice bc their relationship is so much less established than the others)
-mo/dawn flashbacks mo/dawn flashbacks mo/dawn flashbacks mo/dawn flashbacks mo/dawn flashbacks!!! i knew we would be seeing their backstory but i didn’t expect it to be the first thing we saw all season!!! i love mo/dawn and i love getting backstory since i was waiting to know more about their past for so long and!! it’s here!! now we know everybody at the jammer group used to work for leighman and that’s why they hate them and we know mo and dawn go back a decade and!! it’s just so satisfying to KNOW i love to see it
-the entirety of Fore! (2x04) yassir. fucking. killed. that. shit. he was the sole writing credit for that episode, and when i saw that on the imdb page i simply knew it would be god tier. and it was! admittedly a little plotless, but that’s par for the course this season, plus it was early enough in the season to get away with it i think. the twist at the end. corky’s entrance. blair/harris. blair being an idiot. blair being a high idiot. yassir x being the king of feminism. yassir lester writing andrew’s emmy reel like that. we haven’t seen season 2B yet but 2A peaked with fore!. period. try to disagree with me. you can’t.
-ofc the 80s aesthetic that we all know and love. i saw somebody describe black monday as a period piece once and it seemed kind of ill-fitting bc it’s not set in victorian era england but yk what? it’s totally fitting. this is a period piece. the 80s slap.
-blair being the villain that we know he is. i wish they would quit stalling on this because it’s making all the characters seem monotonous and non-distinct, but i like those moments where blair snaps (“WE ARE DOING THIS” and “i am the only family you need now. just me”) andrew’s such an excellent actor and it’s fun to see this side of his range since he’s usually played really nice and wholesome (or at least not downright villainous) characters. he’s sending chills down my spine with some of the shit he’s doing and saying this season. andrew. emmy. nomination. now. GIVE IT TO ME NOW.
-momentary mo&blair resurgence (even if it’s fake). i miss mo&blair as father-son so fucking much anon you don’t even know. finding out that they were the ones clicking their heels in 2x06? i could’ve CRIED
-being right. ok this has a bit of lore but i have been STALKING the imdb page for black monday for MONTHS. bc they’ll add episode titles, or screencaps, or cast members all the time without telling anybody, and everything’s been accurate so far (so it’s not some troll lying on imdb we know that lol). specifically, in 2x09, there’s a character credited as dr. gabe egon. the tl already had suspicions that he had smth to do with conversion therapy bc there’s this one picture that sho released where you can see all this shit mo’s written on this board, and it DEFINITELY SAID CONVERSION THERAPY. and this episode comes around and roger is walking out this door that says “dr. gabe egon ~ therapy for the religiously erect” or whatever and i was like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then roger blurts out that it’s literally CT and i !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this shit is in different areas for better or for worse and even if im confused and bored at the same time being pulled along for the ride is fun as hell
-the naming scheme for the episodes. i literally had no idea what they would do for the episode titles this season since there’s no countdown to black monday, but i like how it’s shit that the characters say/write. bc then a character says the episode name and you’re like !!!!!!!!!!! jfhgdfjk. plus it kinda tells you what’s going on--i knew 2x06 would be about a ponzi scheme before blair even proposed the idea in 2x05 bc the ep is titled Arthur Ponzarelli. and i knew fore! would be the episode where blair and the harrises are golfing and blair gets hit by a golf cart since “fore” is a golf term. and i know that 2x07, “who are you supposed to be?” is the weird halloween party ep where everybody looks ridiculous and ppl are def gonna be getting into it. 2x10 is titled “i don’t like mondays” and idk what that means but i bet mo says that line in the show. and 2x09 is titled “at that time” and im so scared bc that episode has a blair flashback and WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHAT DOES IT ALL MEANNNN
-more women and more women being relevant to the plot. good. it was getting a little obnoxiously man-influenced here. cmon the majority of the cast AND the majority of the directors AND the majority of the producers AND a majority of the writers AND both the creators can’t ALL be men. like pick a struggle.
whew that list was longer than i expected it to be! thanks for the ask anon! what are y’all’s favorite parts so far?

The Fisherman scene in Cobra Kai 2x04
There’s something about the fisherman scene in 2x04. Beyond the Miyagi echo thing, Miyagi’s “sign” to send Daniel or whatever.
It almost looks like a dream or a vision or even a hallucination. You see at the beginning of the scene, while Daniel is walking towards the camera, we can see background strollers going in the opposite direction, as if leaving the beach. With the shot of the fisherman, you can also see people in the background going opposite from where the fisherman is. The beach gets filtered out as if there’s only Daniel and the Fisherman left, no one else. Just the sea, the Fisherman and Daniel.
Everything in this scene screams that it’s not just a simple random encounter. The fact it’s before the sea/ocean is a first indicator. It has many symbols but in some cultures and mythologies, the ocean is linked with the afterlife, with the link between the living and the dead, the deads being all together within the ocean. And it just so happens that Daniel finds a fisherman, with an accent and who doesn’t speak English very well, exactly like Mr Miyagi. Coincidence, right? I think not.
(Not to mention the beach is also a gentle nod to the different training scenes of the Karate Kid trilogy, especially the first and third films where Daniel 1) first see Miyagi use the Crane Technique 2) Perfects the “Miyagi” kata in the third movie).
Second of all, the Fisherman. He doesn’t have a name, could fool Daniel it was Miyagi for a second, as foolish a thought as it was (but I guess when you’re as lost as Daniel is throughout the show you may tend to see the one you’re desperately looking for anywhere, even if this doesn’t make any sense). He’s mysterious, seeming full of wisdom. To link it back to the ocean being the link with the world of the dead : the Fisher King from the Arthurian legend has many sources of inspiration and one of them is from celtic mythology, concerning the god Nodens who was believed to fish the souls of the dead. All of these symbols are too big to ignore when you watch this scene. Other symbols include patience, that the fisherman will wait calmly until he catches a fish. And that’s exactly what the Fisherman says to Daniel: “You just have to be patient.”
And third, this has not passed anyone’s attention that the Fisherman sports a similar beard/moustache combo as Mr Miyagi (and I would argue a similar haircut but it’s difficult to judge properly because of the hat. In any case, the length is more or less the same).
Tumblr media
(And, as I said, both characters talk in a very similar way with 1) a foreign accent 2) with a type of english that doesn’t use articles or the verb “to be” too often)
And then, there’s the final shot of the scene, when Daniel leaves and we see the Fisherman with his back turned to us. It’s not a wide angle shot of course but the way that shot was framed, clearly adds to the feeling that they were alone on the beach, that it was an eerie encounter, maybe an apparition or a hallucination of Daniel’s desperate and lost mind.
Tl;Dr: What I’m trying to say is that this scene, as emotional as it was, seems to me more than just an hommage to Mr Miyagi (and Pat Morita by extension) and maybe more of the fabrication of Daniel’s desperate search for Mr Miyagi’s guidance especially since the return of Cobra Kai. I doubt the show would take on a fantastic-like approach with the theory of the Fisherman is an apparition of Mr Miyagi’s soul, so I’m going with the theory of Daniel’s lost self.

It’s still Summer
okay so we don’t have like, a very clear timeline on how much time has passed in-show; though we do get a lot of details that we can make a rough estimate
unfortunately sometimes a lot of the wrong assumptions are made - like thinking it’s been a year since the Fall of Beacon, that Ruby would be 17 now, or that it’s now Winter-time
i’m gonna just lay out what the show gives us for where the show currently is in it’s timeline, but to tl;dr it if you don’t want this whole infodump, it’s been about a year and some change since the beginning of volume 2, and Fall hasn’t set in yet
alright so i should probably start off by providing evidence of the time of year
now a lot of people  have assumed it’s been a year since the Fall of Beacon, presumably because the latter took place in the Fall and volume 5 ended on the night before the Fall Semester would have started (i’ll get into why that’s not a solid connection in a little bit) but i can counter that with two screenshots, both involving Patch
here’s Patch during volume 3, in Fall, 3x01:
Tumblr media
the leaves have turned/are turning, the grass is brown, it’s very clearly Autumnal
here’s Patch at the end of volume 5, 5x14:
Tumblr media
leaves are green, grass is fresh and green - warm tones, it’s Summer
and the reason for this is that volume 5 ends the day before the Fall Semester would’ve started
and we know from volume 1 that a semester lasts a few months, as the entirety of the first volume after episode 1 takes place within that first semester (with Ruby’s fight with Torchwick happening not long before), from 1x15:
Tumblr media
and we know from volume 2 that the Vytal Tournament takes place during the second semester, and so Fall must start during that Semester (as Ruby comments to Winter that it is Fall during volume 3), as Ruby says in 2x01:
“Look guys, it's been a good two weeks and between more exchange students arriving and the tournament at the end of the year, our second semester is going to be great! But, classes start back up tomorrow!”
‘the end of the year’ is a bit of an ambiguous comment, though this excerpt from After the Fall implies a third semester that presumably happens after a Winter/New Year’s break
Tumblr media
and we also know from a few details that the school semesters happen at roughly the same time
within the show itself, Cinder’s absence after 1x01, only showing up with Mercury and Emerald in tow in 1x16, can be inferred to be because they (along with Neo) were posing as students at Haven to get entrance to the tournament (and presumably this is when Lionheart defected to Salem’s orders), and other exchange students (like Sun) began arriving around the same time, meaning a semester had been going on
another instance comes from After the Fall, where during her own initiation, Velvet wonders if her buddy Vega Bleu from Pharos Academy would be going through initiation at the same time
Tumblr media
suggesting the years start at roughly the same time
so this establishes that volume 5 ends roughly a year after volume 2 starts, a year after the Best Day Ever
so that establishes where we were at the end of volume 5, summertime, a year after volume 2 started
volume 6 picks up two weeks after that and ends within a week (6x01 to partway through 6x06 all happen on the same day, the rest of 6x06 and 6x07 happen the day after that, 6x08 - 6x09 the third day, and 6x10 - 6x13 presumably a day or two after), which i want to say would put it between a year after the investigation into the White Fang’s activities in Vale (2x03 - 2x04) and the Vytal dance (2x05 - 2x07)
also just for point of reference, this doesn’t really add much to anything except establishing the time of year, Grimm Eclipse happens between volumes 2 and 3 and the areas outside Forever Fall clearly show it’s still Summer
this also means that Ruby’s still 16 - we know from volume 3 when Ciel gives her profile on Ruby in 3x05 that Ruby was still 15 at the time, meaning the tournament was happening before October 31st, which is officially her birthday following this bit of Word of God from Miles after the Chibi episode about it:
Tumblr media
and because it hasn’t been a year since the tournament, Ruby’s still 16 (and no, we don’t have official word on her being 17 and the timeline of the show - the primary canon, of which everything else, secondary canon and Word of God, is supplemental - doesn’t match up to it)
so then there’s the next point of confusion i see people, that it’s now Winter, and as we’ve established, it’s not, and the show isn’t confusing it’s own timeline and suggesting it is
we see more snow in volume 6 because RWBY and the others are in the more northerly part of the Anima continent
Tumblr media
which the map shows to be fairly snowy
the show reinforces this as when we cut to Cinder during the volume (and remember that her timeline is established to be taking first a month after the battle of Haven - not the two weeks after which is RWBY’s time frame - and then an additional week while waiting for the info from Little Miss Malachite), it’s clearly not Winter, most notably when we see her and Neo in 6x13:
Tumblr media
it’s dark but y’know, lush greenery - very clearly not Winter
so there we have it, it’s still Summer, we’re coming up on the anniversary of the Fall of Beacon and Ruby’s birthday within the next few in-universe months of the show

Fuck, Marry Kill: Jarvis, Captain Barnes and post chemical Joker + general unpopular opinions :)
oh, that’s an easy one
i’d definitely marry barnes (if he wasn’t the same age as my parents, you know)
i’d say that i’d fuck tetch, but actually in real life i wanna keep a mile long distance from him
post-chemical, not post-chemical, whatever - i’d kill that ugly ass motherfucker without hesitation
with general gotham opinions is harder, since i have a lot of them, so i’m gonna stick to unpopular opinions on characters whom i care the most
barnes
i actually don’t like his first episode. not that much as 3x09 or 3x19, but still. it’s so ooc-y, comparing to what his character is gonna be later. i have no idea why writers decided to give such an awful first impression of him. the idea that barnes doesn’t care about his people or young cadets dying is dismissed in very next episode. in general he is not that level of jerk-ass as he in 2x04 (at least in later eps his douchbagness in some way is justifiable by the fact that we are aware of his beliefs)
the popular fandom idea that “barnes is always angry lololol” is not only played for laughs in show itself, but also simply.... not true. people see his every negative emotion as anger just because he rarely shows some positive emotion. he’s not even pissed off in most scenes people claim he is, he’s either annoyed or says things very loudly (which is, you know, not the same thing as being angry)
barnes’ virus plot shouldn’t have been about his “anger at the guilty” (it should have been about anything expect this stupid judge dredd parody), it should have been about his desire for violence, which is what by his beliefs in law he tried to suppress. the main reason why he became by-the-book cop is that his urge to hurt is what lead to a murder of a child, and could have been the reason of other brutal killings; he realize how fucked up he is and that he need to control himself. that’s why he is so obsessed with law, that’s why he’s ignoring his own and other people’s needs, his common sense, because he can’t let himself slipp not even for a moment. eventually, law became his sense of self, and alice’s blood destroyed that completely, leaving barnes with his bloodlust, which he, of course, couldn’t fight. imho, that is what barnes’ main conflict about: not anger - violence, and in a context of his character, that’s completely different things. tl,dr; it’s not the law created his anger, it’s anger and desire for violence created his beliefs in law
nathaniel barnes is a two-face. no, i’m not gonna explain that one because i’m tired of thinking at this point
bullock
anyone who says that gordon made bullock a better man clearly wasn’t watching s1. “spirit of the goat” show us that harvey always was a good man, with desire for justice, but after years and years of fighting it was harder and harder for him to find a motivation to fight back, and, eventually, he forgot about his white knight persona (but not abandon completely). i’m not gonna deny that gordon had some influence on harvey, but saying that gordon “reformed” bullock is saying that you don’t know the character you talking about
speaking of influence - imho, barnes had a lot of this on bullock. from laughing at barnes behind his back and not following his orders in s2 to being very loyal to cap to the point where harvey tells gordon to fuck off and stop interfering into their job multiple times in s3. all of this was forgotten after 3a of course (because god forbid bullock is gonna have connection to someone who is not gordon), but still
(if you love bullock/gordon don’t read next paragraph) if you following me for a long time you already know this, but anyway - g*rdlock is NOT an example of a good friendship. it’s a ffity shades of gordon being an unbearable peace of shit in general and to his “””friend”””. s1 is the only season in which they had some sort of friendship, but everything after that?  g a r b a g e
my fav seasons with harvey is season 1 and 3a because these have the most bullock moments outside of his relationship with gordon
tetch
despite being my favourite gotham villain, i enjoy only his 3a plot, every scene with him after 3x08 is not that enjoyable at best or makes you cringe because of how poorly they waste such a good villain at worst. and even his “mad city” storyline is mostly him fucking with gordon’s brain in not really original for this show way
this one is also about barnes, but i’m gonna write it here: virus storyline was actually good when it was about tetch and barnes only, because it‘s obvious that this plot (inner darkness, forbidden desires, bloodlust in every meaning of this word - you get my point) was written for them and them only. the moment alice’s blood became to be about gordon, lee, mario, bruce, penguin and etc. it started to be really boring
why everyone losing their mind around tetch/scarecrow or j squad? am i missing something?

You can all thank @modern-lady-trickster for this. Her post about Flynn in 2x04 (which I would link to if that was a skill I possessed) inspired me to go looking for stills. So now, let's take a tour of Garcia Flynn during his first "real" mission with Lucy the team, trying to prove that he's a good husband teammate.
Tumblr media
First, we have this moment, where Lucy asks if she can trust him. For him, this whole journey has been leading up to this moment, and he knows it. He can feel it. He looks so tired, almost relieved, and his expression is just... Beautiful. Because yes, she can trust him, and he could almost cry with relief because she's considering it.
Tumblr media
Look at this precious dork, happy and joking because he finally gets to go on a mission with Lucy! "See, I can make jokes and fit in with you guys! Look!"
Tumblr media
I don't even remember exactly what's happening here, but he's consulting with Lucy, they're working together, and it's perfect.
Tumblr media
Then, he tries to reach out to her about her time in captivity, and yes, he does it in a bit of a garbage way, but he's trying. He's trying to discuss common ground, shared pain, but he still has just a hint of bitterness toward her for the arrest. This is, for the record, the last time we see any trace of that bitterness aimed at her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The moment we all know and love, where he consults with Lucy, and she gives him the Wife Nod, and they have such a conversation without ever saying the words. But he lets her take the lead-she's the one to initiate the silent conversation-instead of charging in headfirst, even though that is his impulse.
Tumblr media
I'm running out of room for images here, so there's a lot crammed into this one.
Him doing her seatbelt. And he isn't even trying to prove anything here, he wouldn't even try to do it, but she's struggling, and he can't just WATCH. His gentle "It's okay" could mean that the journal talks about this as a ritual she and Wyatt share, or it could simply be that he thinks she doesn't trust him enough to let him do this yet, but either way, he quietly assures her that it's okay. And she lets him.
He can't stop there, not when she starts talking about her mother. He remembers the struggles from the journal, and he once again reaches out, making sure that she knows she's nothing like the woman who raised her. "Lucy, I know you. I know your struggles. I'm here for you. I believe in you." And that isn't his point. He really just wants her to know that she isn't like her mother. But a part of him is also begging for her to let him in.
Tumblr media
And he's so proud of her for saying that she KNOWS, that she isn't like her mother.... She isn't even watching him at this point, but he's just so HAPPY and PROUD.... How many times have you seen him smile like that?
Tumblr media
And finally we have this. He lets her get off first, but when he sees that she's struggling, he steps out and offers her support. (Mostly emotional, but some physical.) And he isn't quite sure he has the right, isn't quite sure she wants him to, but he takes the risk, and she doesn't pull away. She lets him guide her down the stairs and away from Wyatt, lets him offer her that protection. She TRUSTS him. They may not be partners, not quite yet, but he can finally see the team she promised him so long ago. He can see her letting him in, even after all of the things he did to her.
Tumblr media
Bonus: Glaring at the ex husband partner as they make their way down the steps.
TL,DR? Garcia Flynn spent an episode doing everything in his power to prove himself to Lucy, at least as a partner in war, if not a partner in life. And in the end, it paid off, and he got to offer her comfort during some of her darkest moments.
