I just recently returned to the tiva fandom and was wondering if you have any fic recs on ao3? saw your posts in the tag

I also recently returned to reading Tiva fics, so I don't have an exhaustive list (yet!) but can definitely give you a few ideas!

Previously, I used to read on fanfiction.net but have since switched over to AO3, so I'm discovering a whole new world of Tiva fics.

Assuming you're caught up on the show, including [SPOILER] Ziva returning in season 17, here's a few recs:

1. Literally anything by @benditlikepress (AO3 page here)

I've been reading through her page basically top to bottom, especially her post-season 17 fics.

These two especially stood out as painfully beautiful, which is what I have been in the mood for lately:

3. (Self promo) I also write Tiva fanfics, used to a lot more but I'm getting back into it now that I'm on AO3 and fully back in the fandom. I go by ContentsPriceless and while I wouldn't say I've got any masterpieces quite yet, here's a couple I really enjoyed:

I'm also writing a Tiva fic for every episode seasons 3 through 11.02. Only on season 3 right now and it's gonna be slow going, but I'm enjoying it so far!

I also recommend you check out @indestinatus (AO3), born33 (AO3), and probee (AO3), and I'm sure I'm missing many more, maybe I'll work on fic recs in the future that are more comprehensive! This is just what I've been reading lately!

After a case goes bad Tony wakes up in the hospital, surprised his stoic new partner is holding his hand. It turns out there's a lot he's forgotten. With Ziva, it comes back to him. Diverges canon, set mid/late season 7.

3. Tell me about one of your fics you think is underrated / underappreciated.

it's hard to gauge what counts as underrated based on fandom. for instance, my beyonders fic has the lowest amount of hits/kudos of all my fics, but the beyonders fandom is so small that i don't really feel like people are sleeping on it? and i never could judge how my fics were faring in the bigger fandom that shall not be named because they have so much more attention than stuff for my other fandoms, generally, but all the time people when they recced my fics on reddit were like ohhhh this author is so underrated and. honestly. i kind of hated that. i do think there were some fics of mine for that fandom that didn't get as much attention as some of my others when they were better (imo), and that would be both of my christmas fics, left of the dial, and the otgw au. i would say planetarium stickers but enough people have told me incredibly complimentary things about it that i feel like the point got across, lol. as for other fandoms i think everyone should watch national treasure and read beyonders so they can read three's a crowd and the swing of things because i'm very proud of them.

7. Is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?

GOD yes. i really want to write some tiva from ncis, i'm working on a couple jason and ferrin fics obviously, and i desperately need to write locklyle at some point because they are haunting me this week. very much need to write a mia winters fic, the marilyn batson fic, and i'd love to write for megstine from phantom of the opera if i can. maybe clois, and maybe joel from the last of us too. and of course, dorothy gale.

24. What are some of your favourite tropes?

everyone always asks this and every time i can never think of tropes that aren't typical fanfic romance tropes, none of which i enjoy. so let me just make shit up. love near-death experiences, love died and came back, love when a character overexerts themself in a fight/protecting someone else and collapses afterwards (this is also fun if it involves hiding a wound), love hurt/comfort, all that. love when the spy meant to betray you actually becomes your friend and you get the whole "as time went on i stopped pretending" bit. give me ALL of that please.

There are almost more Ellick fics on AO3 than Tiva fics ‼️‼️I’m a fan of both, but I never thought I’d see the day when I started reading Ellick fics in 2018.

Oh wow that's amazing!! I started reading Tiva in 2013 and Ellick last year and it's definitely amazing to see all of their fics.

I love both ships and I love seeing people write about them so imma use this as an opportunity for people to drop their fic/author recs on AO3 for either ship!

NCIS Fic Rec List

I’ve always enjoyed finding new stories from other people’s rec lists and since I have managed to accumulate my own list, thought I’d make my own! I watched NCIS through to S12-13. Tony was by far my favourite character, so most of my recs center around him in some way. I also have a number of crossover recs - mostly with Stargate. A lot of the recs are from FFN as lots of these stories are from 10-15 years ago. All recs complete unless otherwise indicated.

Author's Summary: 'The murder of a sailor in a DC warehouse reveals a conspiracy that's been silently destroying lives on a Navy carrier for years. Someone high is covering it up. Can Gibbs and company get to the root of it before more lives are lost?'

Review:  Well-written story about a series of cases too much of a coincidence to not be connected. Gibbs goes after it with his usually stubborness, and his own brand of compassion - and his team is there to prop him up. Not the type of fic I usually read, but well-done, and probably the best NCIS Case-fic I've found. ♥

Character Study

Author's Summary: 'Ten hours was an awfully long time to be stuck on a plane with a concerned Gibbs while under the influence of truth serum. Tony/Gibbs non-slash - Hints of TIVA, S7x01-Tag.'

Review: Great fic, set on the plane ride home. Tony's feeling guilty, and Gibbs notices. Very well done and an excellent Tony POV.**

Family of Choice

Author's Summary: 'Gibbs' rules vary from the investigator-savvy to the cyncial to the life-saving. For every rule there is a reason. Behind every reason is a lesson learned.'

Review: A look at five different episodes where Gibbs rules come into effect. Very well done. ♥

Author's Summary: "You have children, Gibbs?" And in the silence of that moment, Gibbs realizes the answer is not as simple as he thought. Set mid-'Flesh and Blood'. Allusions to child abuse. Gibbs/Tony, father/son.'

Review: Well-written. More parental!Gibbs than canon, but totally in character. Has a sequel, A Sense of Family. ♥

Title: T.L.C. Gibbs’ Style Author: Obsessed Pam Season: 5 Relationship: Gen Rating: PG-13; 2008 Word Count: 10-20k Content/Warnings: None

Author's Summary: 'Tony has done it again - got himself into trouble and he is now having to face the unpleasant results of his own actions. Gibbs decides to intervene.'

Review: Tony covers for an agent who made a mistake, exposing himself to the elements and getting sick in the meantime. Gibbs is soooo not impressed. Especially when Tony seems to lose all common sense afterwards. Very well done - definitely get a harder side of Gibbs than you normally see, and a Tony who you can tell is more than just a bit broken.**

Review: Jack is willing to help when it's one of his men in trouble, and Tony thinks he could like this particular Air Force General.

Author's Summary: ‘ Sometimes the past is echoed in the present.’

Review: Gibbs and another Marine were detained along with Jack in Iraq. When the other Marine goes missing, and Jack suspects the NID, he calls in Gibbs for assistance. With Gibbs undercover, they are able to get back the missing man, and then Jack has fun torturing Gibbs team in training scenarios. Realistic and interesting fic.* 

Title: A Fed, a General, and a Linguist Walk Into A Bar... Author: Trinket2018 Fandoms: NCIS x Stargate SG-1 Relationship: Gen Rating: G/PG; 2018 Word Count: 20-40k Content/Warnings: Kidnapping

Author's Summary: ‘Tony is hunting a serial killer in Alexandria, with competition and no back-up.’

Review: I love Tony’s interactions with SG-1 as well as the story, but the NCIS bashing is a bit more than I usually like. Overall interesting! Love the use of Tony’s undercover skills.*

Review: Jack is a 'person of interest' in a Captains murder. This doesn't go down well with anyone. Quite well done, with a hilarious tone throughout. ♥

Author's Summary: ‘When a marine turns up dead, you call NCIS. When a marine turns up dead, with Iratus bug DNA... well then you need SGA-1. Head butting will ensue. NCIS crossover.’

Review: Good, but not great fic of the genre.

Title: Highly Classified and Very Hush Hush Author: rageprufrock Fandoms: NCIS x Stargate Atlantis Relationship: Gen Rating: PG-13; 2010 Word Count: 1-3k Content/Warnings: None.

Author's Summary: 'Gibbs sometimes wonders what he did to deserve these morons, but then he looks through the one-way window at three naked and extremely uncomfortable-looking Marines and figures it could be worse.'

Review: Hilarious, with wonderful characterizations of both fandoms by a truly excellent and well-known author. I especially love John. Also has a sequel. ♥

2. A fic you wanted to write a fic about

Hahahahahahaha just watch me drop YET ANOTHER @benditlikepress rec. Oops. there’s ritual in the dance, my love is so IN CHARACTER that the ending disappointed me... my typing fingers got a little itchy wanting to extend it, because I needed MORE and it was so brilliantly done! It’s peak Jess, honestly... dialogue-heavy, a QUICK read because there’s no chance that you’ll be able to stop reading once you start. It’s frustrating in the best kind of way--the pining, the lingering, the anticipation... it’s a missing scene but it could honestly be an episode in and of itself. READ IT. Honestly, be on the lookout for my fanfic of this fanfic. (I’m such a Jess stan, it’s embarrassing) 

18. A Christmas fic you like

Okay, this one is going to be a weird answer, lmao. @indestinatus has a lovely little Christmas WIP that should be out soon... I’m lucky enough to get early access to it because she had a great lapse in judgment and let me beta, but the POINT is that I’ve already read it and I can testify that it’s super cute! Keep an eye out for that, lol. But if you want a Christmas fic to read in the meantime, I can’t think of one off the top of my head that I’ve read... so I’m gonna go slightly against the spirit of this meme to suggest my own fic. 😅The Capacity for Friendship is set over Christmastime. (Are there a bunch of Christmas fics out there and I’ve just missed them all, or are there just not that many??)

29. A fic that made you blush

I’m not usually the one to go to for Ellick recs but there isn’t a Tiva fic out there that has made me blush nearly as much as this @onlyhereforellick Ellick fic, Motorcycles & Bad Boys. What can I say, except... 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I knew when I read “Did I stutter?” that I might never have such intense feelings about a smut fic ever again. I’m sure you’ve already read it, but... read it again. I’m gonna need to go read it again right now, actually. Or maybe I’ll just go take a cold shower after only remembering it?

I’m very particular about which fics I read but I will look for them. I also only read completed fics because I HATE waiting for updates and because I can’t deal with abandoned fics.

This is a tough one!! There is so much good out there.

Anything by @benditlikepress and @indestinatus right now is just wonderful!

Truth be told, I haven’t been keeping up with fic. (I actually didn’t really start reading fic until I started writing it.) This is really terrible of me, but I was so set on trying to finish my story that’s just been sitting there, that I told myself I wasn’t going to read anyone else’s until I was done, because I kept getting discouraged, since everyone is so talented and it gets harder and harder to start when I see what everyone else has done. Of course, it’s now been 8 months and I’m not much closer than I was when I started, lol. (When i get this stupid story done, there’s going to be a major reading binge from everything I’ve saved up.)

Because I’m not as well-versed in the fandom as lots of other people on here, I don’t have a substantial knowledge of the “fandom classics”. There are some I’m saving until I’m well and truly done lol.

tbh, over the past two weeks I’ve lost pretty much all interest in tiva (hopefully temporarily), and I don’t even remember the last time I read a fanfic.

That said, I will happily continue sharing tiva fics here to support the hardworking fanfiction wirters.

I’ll look for the fic now and post it here, and if I can I’ll go through my dashboard to see what other fics have been posted lately and reblog/queue them.
