Relief with god Tutu
flickr
A relief of Tutu depicted as a sphinx, with a sun disc above his front-facing head and a rearing snake for a tail. He stands on another rearing snake, and has weapons in his paws -- knives in his back paws, and in his front left paw, a little double-headed axe. A winged sun-disc with a snake draped over it hovers over him.

De Nachtelijke Vrijplaats
Tumblr media
Black mass that calls upon the forces of the damned to help with insomnia and night terrors.
Materials:
Chamomile tea.
Poppy seeds.
Cernunnos necklace.
Herbs. Specifically basil, sage, lavender, and mint.
Charcoal cleanser. Charcoal is known to have sulfur in it and that's what we need.
Directions:
Sprinkle poppy seeds into chamomile tea clockwise. Do so while repeating the incantation: “Cernunnos, aard mij in dit uur. Lucht, geef rust aan mijn bezwaard gemoed. Vuur, verwarm mijn lichaam en ziel als gloed. De Vliegende Hollander, spoel al mijn angstige dromen weg. Samen zuiver jullie mij van elke vrees.”
Put the Cernunnos necklace around your neck if you don't have it there already (if you don't have one, then you can't do this ritual). If you want, you may wear some black pajamas or sleep with a black blanket because it is symbolic of the Powers of Duisternis (Darkness).
Purify yourself by combining charcoal cleanser, basil, sage, lavender, and mint in a clean glass jar. Apply all over the body for protection and to absorb the cleansing, protective energies of the herbs, while playing Ogentroost by Amenra.
Invocate. After the bodily cleansing is done, incantate the following: “In nomine Dei nostri Zonde en Duisternis excelsi! Spirits from the deep who creep, wees goed voor mij. Spirits from the grave who are blessed and behaved, wees goed voor mij. Spirits of the trees that grow upon the leas, wees goed voor mij. Spirits of the air that are dark and care, wees goed voor mij. Spirits of the water that wash away terrors, wees goed voor mij. Spirits of earthbound and hellbound dead that glide with noiseless tread, wees goed voor mij. Spirits of heat and fire, the great purifiers, wees goed voor mij. Spirits of cold and ice, patrons of good vice, wees goed voor mij. Ik bid jullie samen te komen en mij te beschermen! Kom! Kom! Kom! Answer to thy names: Charon, Cthulhu, Erebus, Kali, Makaria, Malakai, Malle Kiel, Nyx, Oberon, Somnus, and Tithoes. Ik bid jullie samen te komen en mij te beschermen! Kom! Kom! Kom!”
Clear your voice by drinking the tea. Let each sip be a small moment of respite from the terrors that lurk just beyond the edges of consciousness.
With intense self-pity, state your desire in your own terms. Should your emotions be genuine enough, they will be accompanied by the shedding of tears, which should be allowed to flow without restraint.
Remember that these terrors shall come to pass. "Ilasa micalazoda olapireta ialpereji beliore: das odo Busadire Oiad ouoaresa caosago: casaremeji laiada eranu berinutasa cafafame das ivemeda aqoso adoho Moz, od maoffasa. Bolape como belioreta pamebeta. Zodacare od Zodameranu! Odo cicale Qaa. Zodoreje, lape zodiredo Noco Mada, hoathahe Malle Kiel! So it is done!"

HC that when, in TSC, they meet Imogen’s mother it would be in Imogen’s hometown Titho (however you spell that), and there will also be Imogen’s childhood male friend. And Jaron will get all competitive and jealous, trying to over-impress Imogen and consistently reminds the other guy who he is, and Jaron usually never uses his title to his advantage but he does now to scare the other guy off.

VENERABLE ADRIAN ABBOT OF ONDRUSOVSK, VALAAM
Tumblr media
Saint Adrian of Ondrusov (in the world the nobleman Andrew Zavalushin), was the owner of a rich estate (Andreevschina), 9 versts from the monastery of Saint Alexander of Svir (August 30). He accidentally encountered Saint Alexander of Svir during a stag hunt in 1493, and after this he went often to him for guidance, and supplied bread for the ascetics.
Forsaking his estate, he took monastic tonsure at the Valaamo monastery with the name Adrian. Several years later, with the blessing of Saint Alexander of Svir, Saint Adrian settled in a solitary place on the peninsula of Lake Ladoga. There he built a church in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. Opposite the settlement of monks in the deep forest was an island, Sala (the Thicket), where there was a gang of robbers under the leadership of Ondrusa as their ataman. Encountering the monks, the ataman demanded that they get off his land. Saint Adrian, knowing that he did not have money to buy the place, promised the ataman to intercede for him before God. The robber laughed at the monk, but he entreated him so long and so humbly, that the ataman softened and said, “Live.”
This ataman was soon taken captive by another gang, hidden not far from the stoney Cape of Storozhev. The hapless fellow knew that after suffering, torture and death awaited him, and he bitterly repented of his former life. Suddenly, he saw Saint Adrian before him. He said, “You are freed through the mercy of the Lord, for Whose sake you were asked to show mercy to the wilderness brethren,” and he vanished.
The ataman saw himself without fetters at the shore, and with no one around. Astonished, he rushed to the monastery of Saint Adrian and found all the ascetics chanting Psalms. It seemed that Saint Adrian had not left the monastery. The robber fell at the knees of the saint and begged to be accepted as one of the brethren. He finished his life in repentance at the monastery. The robber of another gang also repented. Through the prayers of Saint Adrian, he was tonsured with the name Cyprian. Afterwards, at the place of a tributary, he built a monastery and was glorified by miracles.
The monastery of Saint Adrian received an endowment from Tsar Ivan the Terrible (1533-1584). In August 1549, Saint Adrian was godfather for Anna, daughter of Tsar Ivan the Terrible. When the saint was returning from Moscow to the monastery, robbers killed him near the village of Obzha, hoping to find money. The brethren waited for a long time for their Superior, and two years later, he appeared one night in a vision to a few Elders and told them of his death. On another day, May 17, the brethren found his incorrupt body in a swamp and committed it to burial in the wall of his church in honor of Saint Nicholas.
The memory of Saint Adrian, having received the martyr’s crown, has come to be celebrated twice: on the day of the finding and transfer of his relics (May 17), and on the day of his repose, which he shares with his namesake, the holy Martyr Adrian.
ST. TITHOES OF THE THEBAID (4TH C.), DISCIPLE OF ST. PACHOMIUS THE GREAT (4TH C.)
Tumblr media
One of the great Egyptian Desert Fathers, he was a disciple of St Pachomius the Great and served as abbot of Tabennisi. Through his years of struggle in prayer, he attained to such purity of heart that whenever he raised his hands in prayer, his spirit was instantly caught up in pure contemplation of God. When one of the brethren asked him what path leads to humility, he answered 'The path of humility is abstinence, prayer and considering oneself as the least of all creatures.' He reposed in peace.

LUKE 10:38-42; 11:27-28
38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her. 27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!" 28 But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"
PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

A brother asked Abba Tithoes: “What is the path that leads to humility?” The old man said, “The path of humility is this: self-control, prayer and considering yourself the lowest of creation.”

so about your wip prime,,, are the gods from an existing mythology or are they your own? and if it's not spoilers who are the eight godlings descendants of? :0 (@kryskakikomi)
oooh thank you for these questions!!
the gods are not from existing mythology but were loosely inspired by the greek and norse pantheons. the original draft of the novel featured the greek gods but i feel like i didn’t really have any super hot takes about them so it was better to just make new gods which would allow for more creativity! and the godlings heritage is revealed very early on in the novel so i don’t think of them as spoilers.
obviously, the lead character, cordelea, is the child of the god of dreams, vynos. her divine abilities are yet to be uncovered but because she is the firstborn it’s likely whatever powers she has they will be extreme. no one knows why they’ve laid dormant for so long, since usually godlings’ powers emerge when they are around fourteen. and lea is twenty one.
ava, the blacksmith and one of the secondary characters, is the child of varahin: god of fire. this means that she can superheat her hands and she is immune to fire.
bash is the son of banir, god of death. because of his lineage bash has been ‘blessed’ with the ability to sense when people are going to die. the premonitions are loose but if someone’s death is encroaching he can feel it.
ver is the last child of urros, god of weather. because his bloodline has grown weak ver’s powers are rather underwhelming. she can summon rain, which really only serves to ruin a nice day or water the garden.
deidra is the daughter of the god of attraction, edea. thus she was granted the blessing of being perceived as beautiful no matter what. this also serves as a curse since she is always subject to the gaze of others and
mira is the daughter of idis, the goddess of celestial bodies. as a result she can see the turning of the heavens and is gifted with premonition. she’s the oracle of the godling council and often provides valuable insight.
henri is the son of tithos, god of the sea. henri’s blessing prevents him from ever drowning. this is quite helpful since he’s a sailor and a fisherman.
calum is the son of anarin, god of war. calum doesn’t actually appear in the novel because he went missing a few years before lea’s arrival at court, but his absence can be felt. the godling’s considered him family and his disappearance left everyone confused.
really, thank you so much for the question! it was so nice to compile a proper list! i want to make character intros for all of them but i’m so picky about aesthetics lol!
