Telling that almost all the hate for Rings of Power on twitter is coming from blue ticks. It's all just engagement same with the YouTubers who watch the show endlessly to rage about it.
#rings of power#trop#lord of the rings#lotr#the hate is just so obviously inflated and phoney#the same tired talking points and petty nitpicks regurgitated endlessly#simply to score quick points from the worst people#and the worst thing is you can see a lot of publications are starting to feed into it#they've seen that this short of shit works#the variety review was so blatant i cannot believe it#just pure dumbhead hate clearly more about getting clicks for haters and supporters alike than offering a serious analysis of the show

Hola hola! Hope you're doing ok when you get this!
May I request a fic of Hobie taking care of a burnt out reader (black fem or gns fine cuz I use all pronouns)? Like he swings into her window one night late ASF and she's still up doing schoolwork (cuz that bachelor's ain't go appear in the mail) and he's like "mama wtf are you doing up, it's damn near dawn?" And she explains that she was double shifted in her verse (and she worked those 16 hours cuz capitalism and inflation has ripped her verse a new one) then had to participate in a 4 hour long search party as her spider-persona (on top of her long ass patrol) so she didn't even have time to look at her study reviews in the day. Hobie sits there and helps her out cuz he's a big brained individual and when she gets up to grab a snack (she hadn't eaten all day, didn't even get her mandated breaks 💔) she passes out.
I'll let you take the creative wheel from there.
If you get to this, I thank you a lot and hope that you are not like our reader and overworking yourself. Make sure you've had water and a meal, my love!!
(honey anon)
HONEY ANON YOURE BACK!!! thank you, make sure you take care of yourself too 🫶
𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞
𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: hobie brown x spider!gn!reader (reader is intended to be black)
𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: fluff!
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: you overwork yourself to the point of exhaustion, and your caring boyfriend is right there to take care of you and your responsibilities.
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: i just wanna thank you all for the immense support on the previous works of mine, i couldn’t be more grateful <3
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: contains fainting and mentions of skipping meals, which may be triggering for some. viewer discretion is advised!
you’ve been doing your schoolwork for hours.
no matter how much you stared at the problems on your paper, you couldn’t understand it. even if you could, your brain would be too tired to process it properly.
you sat at your desk and twirled your pencil with your fingers, desperately attempting to fight the wave of exhaustion that washed over you.
you already tried splashing cold water on your face, and the energy from that lasted for a good five minutes. you tried drinking coffee too, but all that did was set you up for the biggest crash of your life.
you were nodding off until you heard knocking at your window. you opened your eyes and groaned. you looked at your phone and picked it up to check the time.
4:53 am.
more knocking came from your window, which agitated you.
“can you wait a second? i’m coming,” you let out another groan before pushing out your chair and groggily walking to your window. once you reached it, you opened it and were met with your boyfriend.
“little frustrated, are we?” he teased. you stared at him blankly in response. “am i allowed in?”
you nodded and slowly moved from the window so he could climb in. you walked back to your desk and he closed the window behind himself.
“did i wake you?” he questioned, his joking tone being replaced by a slightly softer one.
you shook your head at his question.
“then what are you doing up at damn near dawn?”
“schoolwork,” you shrugged and sat down, picking up your pencil and twirling it once more. he made his way over and kneeled down next to you.
“have you slept at all?”
“no.”
“not even a nap or—”
“no, hobie,” you interrupted him, getting aggravated. you didn’t mean to direct it at him, it was the lack of sleep talking. “i was double shifted by my boss today, miguel assigned me to a four hour search party, then i had to go patrol, and on top of all of that, my professor decided to add more fuel to the fire with this stupid assignment. there’s no time to sleep in any of that.”
hobie listened to you intently, and when you were done listing your troubles, he was ready to help you.
“have you eaten anything?”
you shook your head.
“alright, then let’s start there. go ahead and grab somethin’ to eat. when you come back, then we can tackle the assignment. sound good?”
you nod and get up to get a snack, but you begin to feel lightheaded and dizzy. you stumble a bit, and this doesn’t go unnoticed by your attentive boyfriend.
he quickly gets up and paces to your side. he grabs you and holds you steady.
“hey, easy now, love. i’ve got you.”
those were the last words you heard before your body slipped into unconsciousness. the suddenness of which your body went limp caused hobie to trip a little, but he quickly adjusted and dragged you over to your bed. once he made sure your entire body was on the mattress, he tucked you in and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
he looked over to your desk before walking over to it. he picked up the assignment you were struggling with and hummed.
“this shouldn’t be too hard,” he mumbled to himself before pulling the chair out to sit down and picking up your pencil.
you regained consciousness and opened your eyes, but you didn’t have the strength or energy to get up. you let your eyes close and succumbed to your tiredness.
…
once you wake up, the sun’s up and birds are chirping. you quickly sit up in a panic.
“hobie?” you call out, unaware of the shuffling right next to you.
“quiet, dove. people are tryin’ to sleep,” he mumbles as he pulls you into him, forcing you to lay down with him again. you open your mouth to protest, but it’s as if he already knows what you were going to say. “i already did your homework, wasn’t too difficult. told your boss you were takin’ the day off, told miguel you were sick, and when we wake up again, i’ll make you somethin’ to eat. everything’s taken care of, so just lay here with me for a while, yeah?”
you look at his resting face and plant a gentle kiss to his nose, and his lips lazily curl into a soft smile. he was so sweet to you and you just loved him so much. you gave in and allowed yourself to rest, snuggling further into him.
you both deserved this, why not let it last?
solicitude: care or concern for someone or something
I HOPE THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED HONEY ANON <3

OCTOBER HORROR MOVIES 2023 #16 THE MENU
I was initially hesitant to watch this movie, because I thought I already had it figured out. It's about elite food culture, and Ralph Fiennes plays a severe, enigmatic chef who rules his kitchen with an iron grip, so the big reveal has got to be that it's all cannibals, right? I've seen a few movies with this basic premise already (I'm looking at you, Cadaver), and I've gotten pretty tired of seeing rich people problems onscreen (with a big exception for any movie involving Daniel Craig as a fussy, extremely Southern super detective), so I figured I would give this one a pass... But, I kept seeing those darn reviews calling it brilliant. Granted, I've seen the same kinds of reviews for Succession, and I'm still flying a giant "Fuck No!" flag, because that is nothing but pure, uncut rich people shit; but somehow I was finally enticed by The Menu.
And goddamn I'm glad I was. It's not really what I was expecting. For example, it's not cannibalism. (Is that a spoiler? But if it is, it's the good kind of spoiler, right?) Instead, what we're treated to is a wickedly funny and subversive examination of everything that is elite food culture. And, yeah, that does obviously involve rich people shit, but it also takes some good swings at the classism inherently involved in the overly elevated world of fine dining. Imagine the already inflated status afforded to high-end celebrity chefs in the real world and raise it to the level of an actual death cult, and you're in the right area.
Ultimately, The Menu is about control. The extreme end of fine dining is the ultimate expression of controlling how people eat, often manipulating food down to the molecular level and overly designing every moment of the meal that's even tangentially related to the food. Chef Slowik (played perfectly by Ralph Fiennes) is the kind of obsessive, power-hungry character that can't even be satisfied with that, and has moved beyond into controlling the fundamental forces of life and death with his overly-intellectualized meals.
The movie itself is as meticulously crafted as any meal served at Slowik's restaurant, with absolutely no wasted moments and the same slow-revolving, almost pornographic, shots of food that you would see in an episode of Chef's Table. It's shocking. It's bloody. It's beautiful. It's tense. It's hilarious. It's everything you could want from a high-concept horror movie. And it might make you hungry, too.

Top Tips for Finding Reliable Used Car Dealers: Maximizing Value and Minimizing Stress

Purchasing a used car can be an excellent decision for those looking to get great value without the hefty price tag of a brand-new vehicle. However, the process can also be daunting, especially if you’re unsure where to begin. Finding reliable used car dealers in Falkirk is the first step to ensuring a smooth and satisfying car-buying experience. Taking the right approach, can maximise value, minimise stress, and drive away with confidence.
Here are the top tips to help you find trustworthy dealers and maximise your used car purchase in Falkirk.
1. Do Your Research on Used Car Dealers in Falkirk
Before stepping onto a dealership lot, invest time in researching the options available in Falkirk. Look for dealers who have a positive reputation for transparency, reliability, and excellent customer service. Online reviews and testimonials can provide valuable insight into others’ experiences with specific dealers.
Additionally, check if the dealership specialises in certain types of vehicles, as this can help narrow down your options based on your preferences and budget.
2. Set a Realistic Budget
One of the biggest advantages of buying from used car dealers in Falkirk is that you have access to a wide range of vehicles at varying price points. However, it’s essential to set a realistic budget before you begin shopping.
When setting your budget, consider the following:
The cost of the car itself
Insurance premiums
Maintenance expenses
Fuel efficiency and related costs
Having a clear financial plan will help you avoid overspending and ensure you choose a car that fits your lifestyle and long-term needs.
3. Inspect the Vehicle’s Condition
Reputable used car dealers in Falkirk typically conduct thorough inspections and maintenance checks on their inventory. However, it’s still a good idea to assess the condition of the car yourself or with the help of a trusted mechanic.
Pay attention to the following:
Exterior: Check for dents, scratches, and rust.
Interior: Inspect the upholstery, dashboard, and controls for signs of wear and tear.
Engine: Look for oil leaks and listen for unusual sounds.
Tires: Ensure even tread wear and proper inflation.
A test drive is also essential to evaluate the car’s performance, handling, and comfort.
4. Request the Vehicle History Report
When buying a used car, it’s critical to understand the vehicle’s history. Reputable used car dealers in Falkirk should provide a comprehensive vehicle history report, which includes information about:
Previous owners
Accidents or damage history
Service records
Mileage discrepancies
A vehicle history report helps you make an informed decision and avoid potential issues down the road.
5. Understand Warranty and After-Sales Support
While many people associate warranties with new cars, some used car dealers in Falkirk offer warranty packages for pre-owned vehicles. These warranties can provide peace of mind and protect you from unexpected repair costs after the purchase.
Additionally, inquire about after-sales support, such as servicing options, roadside assistance, or trade-in opportunities. Dealers that prioritise customer satisfaction often have robust after-sales services in place.
6. Negotiate Smartly
Negotiating is a key part of the car-buying process, especially when purchasing from used car dealers in Falkirk. Research the market value of the vehicle you’re interested in to strengthen your bargaining position. Be prepared to negotiate on:
The price of the vehicle
Additional features or upgrades
Documentation and administrative fees
Approach negotiations confidently but respectfully, and don’t hesitate to walk away if the deal doesn’t meet your expectations.
7. Check for Certification Programs
Some used car dealers offer certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles. These cars typically undergo a rigorous inspection process and come with extended warranties, making them a safer option for buyers. If certification programs are available, they can add an extra layer of assurance when buying a used car in Falkirk.
8. Shop Around Before Making a Decision
It’s tempting to buy the first car that catches your eye, but shopping around is crucial to finding the best deal. Compare prices, features, and services from multiple used car dealers in Falkirk to ensure you’re making a well-informed decision. Take your time, and don’t rush into a purchase you may later regret.
9. Ask Questions
When working with used car dealers in Falkirk, don’t hesitate to ask questions about the vehicle, financing options, or dealership policies. The more informed you are, the better equipped you’ll be to make the right choice. Trustworthy dealers will be transparent and willing to address your concerns.
10. Verify the Dealer’s Credentials
Lastly, ensure the dealership is licensed and adheres to industry standards. A licensed dealer is more likely to uphold ethical practices, ensuring a fair and smooth transaction.
Why Choose Falkirk for Your Used Car Purchase?
Falkirk offers a diverse selection of used car dealerships, catering to a variety of budgets and preferences. Whether you’re looking for a family SUV, a compact city car, or a durable work vehicle, you’ll find excellent options from dealers in this area.
By following these tips and taking a methodical approach, you’ll not only find reliable used car dealers in Falkirk, but you’ll also enjoy a stress-free and rewarding car-buying journey.
Final Thoughts
Purchasing a used car is a significant investment, but with the right strategy, it can be a highly rewarding experience. Reliable used car dealers in Falkirk prioritise customer satisfaction and offer quality vehicles that fit your needs and budget.
By researching your options, inspecting vehicles thoroughly, and asking the right questions, you can drive away with a car that delivers great value and reliability for years to come.

Decade of DOOMstruction(1990s): Honorable mentions
While we are done with revisiting the best 2000s WADs in Decade of DOOMstruction, we are not completely done with this series for now. There are a couple of runners-up from Revenant Awards that lost to another WAD for one reason or another.
And today, we will be starting with the 1990s, checking out once again WADs that I thought were worth my time. I retroactively chose 6 WADs for this… re-review.
However, it will be different from the regular DoD part. We are not giving an award for the best runner-up; it’ll be just a regular re-review to see if these WADs are still holding up, even if most of them are almost three decades old at this point.
Starting with-
1994 – THE EVIL UNLEASHED
Boy! I don’t think you can get anymore outdated than this. Unneeded secrets inflation by stacking most of the secret sectors into one secret in most of the maps, mostly cheap difficulty because nobody knew how to properly make the map hard at the time, mind-boggling layout, and excessive backtracking; these are just a few things that plague this WAD.
And yet, I was expecting something worse and ended up with something that was just okay. I would rather play this than any of the earliest WADs made for ZDoom (aside from maybe one or two that didn’t tarnish its gameplay for gimmicks).
If you are interested in this WAD, go ahead and play it; at least to see what the Doom fans from that time played.
1995:
INFINITY
Forget what I said about TEU. This one is the fossil of fossils of WADs. Not only does it have the same mistakes as the previous WAD, but it also adds mandatory secrets (most of these aren’t even trying to actually be secret), more bugs that will soft-lock you, and is such a mess that it could teach Gene Bird of its le arte.
I only played 3/4 of it, and I threw a towel. At least with Evil Unleashed, I felt like the brothers behind Innocent Crew knew what they were doing. With this WAD, I felt like its authors were throwing random shit at the wall to see what would stick, and then translate it into the Doom WAD format.
I don’t even know why I liked it in the past. Just skip this WAD. It’s too outdated (at least for me).
A FISTFUL OF DOOM
Nothing like a good old trip to the wild west to calm my nerves… It didn’t completely help, unfortunately. -_-
This WAD gives out great vibes of the good old Dollar Trilogy Spaghetti Westerns… on the other hand, though, you fight hitscanners for at least 80% of the WAD, keys are too small and without any colors (you can’t even track which you have), not to mention at least one bug where the enemies can shoot through walls (you can even see through them).
So, yeah, overall, a mixed bag that I still recommend to play (just pop in some god mode and experience the vibes).
1996:
MEMENTO MORI II
Okay, so with this WAD, I’ve replayed over 2/3rds of it as of writing this words, but I think I’ll probably finish the rest of it in the future and just edit in my thoughts later, because this WAD tired me the fuck out, and there are two remaining to check. I should probably expect it from the sequel to one of the first community projects, but, hey, take a lesson from me. I thought that the maps wouldn’t really be suffering from the one map WAD syndrome, and got humbled… That, or it’s that damn Doom fatigue/burnout again.
But let’s cut to the chase. From what I’ve played of MMII, it’s rather good. Playing this WAD still felt rather archaic to me in probably every element of it, but it didn’t feel as fossilized as the previous half of the batch. Most of the music is GOATed; that’s the only thing about the WAD I can slightly elaborate on.
I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t play it. Just don’t marathon it.
ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE
Now, this WAD feels like the opposite of a slough. It’s a short but rather intense rollercoaster ride that felt like it laid the foundations for some of the custom enemies in the future like plasma crackheads and afrits. Sure, the enemy roster has some irritating elements (tougher Hoovy, Hoovy+arachnotron combo that doesn’t stop shooting when you are behind the wall, and helicopters being slightly overpowered), but other than that, it was a blast to play it again.
I still recommend it.
1997 – MORDETH
Last, but not least – a WAD that is still in development… for over 27 years at this point. I feel like whenever it will finally appear, it will be either the greatest WAD of all time or a gigantic slop of disappointment.
Anyway, when it comes to stuff that we got this many years ago, it’s still good. It might have too many window monsters in some areas, and some of the new enemies tend to get annoying, but other than that, I can’t see anything severely wrong with it.
It’s another WAD that is worth taking a look at least for historical reasons.
THE END
And that’s the entire roster for today. Half of these WADs aged up rather well. The other half… not so much. And from what I’ve seen, it was a good thing that some of the trends of that time died out.
I think I’ll probably have better than with runners-up from the 2000s. At least I remember playing them more fondly.
I’ll see you then.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
June 12, 2023
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
JUN 13, 2023 But the Trump base is not what it was in 2016, when Trump commanded the federal government. Right-wing personality Tucker Carlson is off the air and the Fox News Channel is apparently considering legal action against him to keep him from competing with his old employer. The leaders of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, who organized the Capitol attack, are scattered or in prison, and hundreds of those who were at the Capitol that day have discovered the weight of the law. The number of candidates challenging him suggests Trump is no longer the undisputed leader of the Republican Party. Republican leaders are beholden to his base, though, and they either came out swinging over the weekend to defend Trump or kept silent. But they, too, appear to have been thinking a bit about the weight of the law as information comes out that key evidence against Trump has come from his former lawyer M. Evan Corcoran, who apparently took notes of Trump’s requests that Corcoran break the law. While Republican presidential candidates former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and South Carolina senator Tim Scott are still defending Trump, Haley today said that “Trump was incredibly reckless with our national security,” and Scott said the case is “serious.” They, and politicians like them, are likely making a political calculation. Trump is the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination but is unlikely to win a general election—a network tied to billionaire Charles Koch has begun to target him as unelectable—and they need to appeal to those who dislike Trump as well as those who like him. But there is something else going on, too. As Trump and his loyalists sound more and more unhinged, both in his defense and in their attacks on everyone who isn’t in their club, people seem to be sick of them. As Charles C. W. Cooke asked in the conservative National Review, “Aren’t you all tired of this crap?” In contrast, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have steadfastly refused to engage with the Trump drama and have quietly worked to rebuild the government that forty years of austerity and ideological attacks have undermined. Their determination to rebuild the middle class has led to strong economic growth, high employment, and now inflation at its lowest level since May 2021. Government investment in new technologies and in returning supply chains to the U.S. has led to private investment of more than $220 billion in the economy and the creation of more than 77,000 new jobs, largely in Republican-dominated states. Manufacturing construction has more than doubled in the past year. As the architects of Reagan’s revolution exit stage right, Republican calls for more tax cuts are barely making the news, while the traditional idea of government investment in the American people appears to be showing its strength. “The wind is shifting,” the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin tweeted today after listening to Haley and Scott backtrack. “Remember: change happens slowly and then all at once.”

"What Manny Can't Fix" Review: Chapter 38
Welcome back and welcome again to my review of "What Manny Can't Fix", a Handy Manny fanfic that... well, it just isn't very good.
Wow, it's actually been a whole week since the last chapter of this review was posted. (I'd like to say that I took spring break off, but really I was just working on other stuff.)
Last time, our quartet of "main" characters rode all around town diligently hanging up copies of Twist's "MISSING" poster... by which I mean they hung up like two and then got distracted by an ice cream shop. Today... they're going to eat some ice cream. Woohoo.
(And as always, if you'd like to start this review series from the beginning, Chapter 1 is here.)
Chapter 38
After riding around town, the four of them plopped down on the sidewalk in front of the print shop again.
Allow me to take this time to make a prediction: Just because there wasn’t a pointless time-wasting scene of Pumpetunia inflating tires when we were introduced to Kira and Lilly’s bikes, doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be a pointless pumping scene sometime later in the story.
“Well, that should do it!” Lilly panted out, leaning her back against the building. She turned her gaze towards Felipe and Pumpetunia. “We’ll get a call in no time!”
“I hope so.” Felipe sighed, looking away slightly. “I just….I just wish I knew why she left…”
Pumpetunia gently put her hose around him, pulling him closer, trying to comfort him.
“I’m really sorry…” Kira said, biting down a bit on her lip slightly.
“Me too…” Lilly frowned. “You guys really miss her, huh?”
Felipe nodded. "I think it's been the hardest on Pumpetunia." He looked at the bike pump sitting next to him, and gave her a gentle nuzzle in comfort.
"I understand." Lilly said. "I'd be sad if my gifriend went missing too!" She reached over and grabbed Kira's hand, giving it a tight squeeze.
Ah yes, Kira is Lilly’s “gifriend”. That means that she agrees with Lilly about how “GIF” should be pronounced.
Kira leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek, making her giggle slightly.
The door to the print shop opened and Maude stood in the doorway. "How did hanging the fliers go?"
"It was exhausting!" Lilly huffed out, plopping onto her back on the sidewalk.
"Oh, I'll bet." Maude said. "I saw you biking all around town."
If she was in the print shop working at her job this whole time, how the heck could she have seen them bicycling around… whatever town they’re in? (San Diego?)
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a few bills. "Why don't you get some Ice cream and treat yourself?"
One, “Ice” shouldn’t be capitalized as it’s in the middle of the sentence.
Two, HOW THE HECK DO YOU KNOW THEY WANTED TO GET ICE CREAM?!
Felipe's eyes lit up. "Ice cream!?"
Crazy out-of-nowhere theory: Maude is psychic.
“Thank you.” Kira said sheepishly, grabbing the money.
“Of course!” Maude smiled. “You deserve a break with how hard you were working. If you need any more help finding your friend, feel free to ask.”
“Thanks…” Kira said again, heading back to her bike, placing Pumpetunia the basket. “Let's get going…”
“Right!” Lilly said, grabbing Felipe and putting him into her own. “Ice cream here we come! Wahoo!”
As they biked to the store rain started to patter down.
Oh no, is Felipe going to rust?
No, of course not. Rust is only a problem when it’s narratively appropriate; at any other time, a screwdriver can (and, at one point, did) go for a swim in a park fountain and not have to worry one bit about corrosion.
"They said it was gonna be sunny all day!" Lilly pouted.
Pumpetunia shivered as she ducked into the basket, trying to avoid the drops.
Felipe crouched down too, but the rain was getting harder.
Once they got to the ice cream shop, the girls quickly locked up their bikes before hurrying inside.
Felipe laughed a bit. “We’re all drenched!”
“Yeah we are!” Lilly giggled, grabbing some napkins and trying to dab her shirt dry.
Kira leaned against the table, out of breath still from biking around town.
“Are you okay?” Lilly frowned, putting her hand on her back.
“Yeah…I’m fine….” She breathed out. “I’m just tired from putting up all the posters…”
Kira closed her eyes, resting her tired eyes.
“Do you want me to just order for us so you can take a nap?” Lilly teased.
It appears Random Nap Syndrome has struck again.
Kira nodded, not even raising her head.
How the heck do you nod without raising your head?
“What do you guys want?” Lilly asked Felipe and Pumpetunia.
“Oh! I’ll take strawberry!” Felipe said, excitedly, before turning to Pumpetunia to ask what she wanted.
“¡Quiero pistacho!” [“I want pistachio!”] She replied.
“Strawberry and pistachio, got it!” Lilly said, heading over to the counter.
Felipe looked at Kira, still slumped over, and hopped over towards her. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
Kira let out a muffled sound in reply, not even raising her head at all.
Pumpetunia used her hose to gently stroke her hair.
"¿Se encuentra ella bien?" [“Is she okay?”] Pumpetunia asked.
"Sí, solo está exhausta." [“Yeah, she’s just exhausted.”] Felipe explained.
Pumpetunia let out a small yawn. "Yo también." [“Me too”] She leaned against Felipe .
Oh, COME ON!
"Supongo que yo también estoy cansado". Felipe said, also drowsy.
ARRGH!
WHY IS RANDOM NAP SYNDROME SUDDENLY CONTAGIOUS?!
The three of them dozed off at the table, only awoken by the sound of a thud on the table.
Thank goodness there’s not another dream sequence…
"Ah!" Kira jolted up, followed by the tools.
"Sorry, did I interrupt nap time?" Lilly giggled.
Kira gave her a tired smile before giving Lilly a kiss on the cheek.
Lilly scooted into the seat next to her and handed her a cup of chocolate swirl ice cream.
"Thanks." Kira said, putting her spoon in.
Lilly then set a small strawberry and pistachio in front of Felipe and Pumpetunia.
"Oh, thank you!" Felipe said.
"¡Gracias!" Pumpetunia said, already face first into her ice cream.
Lilly put her arm around Kira, pulling her closer.
"Thank you for helping us with the posters." Felipe said.
"Hey, no problem!" Lilly said. "I hope we can find your sister."
"I do too…" Felipe sighed.
Kira slid her spoon up and down her ice cream, leaving a small streak along the side.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Lilly asked, gripping Kira's shoulder.
She nodded, not looking up from the ice cream. "I was just thinking." She looked over at Felipe and Pumpetunia. "I think I'm ready to tell you about why I'm at the shelter."
“Hopefully, the rainstorm outside will provide dramatic thunder at appropriate moments.”
"Only if you feel comfortable with that." Felipe said. "If you don't want to, you don't…"
"No, no, it's fine." Kira insisted. "I feel like I can trust you both " She turned towards Felipe. "Can you translate the story for Pumpetunia for me?"
"Of course!"
"Thanks." She gave a small smile before it turned into a worried expression. "My parents weren't…. weren't really happy when I told them about Lilly…being my girlfriend."
Gee, that was…
Felipe looked horrified before anxiously turning towards Pumpetunia, and shakily, he translated to her.
… kind of predictable, honestly.
Pumpetunia's eyes widened as he looked over at a now distressed looking Kira.
Author, you should’ve thought harder and came up with a unique reason for Kira to be homeless that isn’t so… so cliche.
Once Felipe finished his translation, Pumpetunia hopped over to Kira and gently held onto her arm. "Lo siento…" [“I’m sorry”]
"She said she's sorry."
Kira pulled her into a hug. "Gracias." She sniffled.
Felipe went over, and Kira pulled him close too. Then Lilly pulled all three of them over, giving a tight squeeze.
“Thanks guys…” Kira sniffled. She forced herself to look up, teary eyed.
Lilly grabbed her hand and gave it a quick squeeze.
“So I…I’ve been staying at the shelter for the…last few months.” Kira continued. “Until I can find somewhere to stay…”
“My parents don't know about us.” Lilly added. "I don't feel comfortable coming out to them…."
It’s a toss-up whether this will turn out to be a bombshell the author will randomly drop when they feel they need some emotional torque or a sudden plot twist, or whether it’ll be one of those lines that the author will completely forget they wrote and accidentally contradict later.
She started playing with her spoon, mixing her now slightly melted ice cream.
Kira looked over at Felipe. "Can you ask Pumpetunia about her and Twist?"
"Ella quiere saber sobre ti y Twist" [“She wants to know about you and Twist”] Felipe said.
Missing a period there, writer.
Pumpetunia looked hesitant for a moment, still feeling slightly emotional about her lost girlfriend.
After a moment, she started gushing about Twist.
Felipe had hard time keeping up with her as he translated for Lilly and Kira:
"Where do I even begin? Twist means everything to me, she’s the love of my life! And I….I miss her so much….I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t find her….I love her so much and…I just wish she had stayed…I’d never let her get thrown into a scrap metal bin!”
What is it with Twist- and Iron Grip, for that matter- that they’re willing to up and abandon the loves of their lives the moment something damages them?
She started shaking a little. “If she stayed. I would have kept her safe…” She clung to Felipe and looked at him, “We both would have kept her safe! She’s our family and family sticks together…” She nuzzled more against Felipe. “And we’ll stick together.”
Kira put her arm around Pumpetunia, stroking her back gently. She leaned towards Felipe and asked, “How do I say ‘Everything’s gonna be okay’ in Spanish?”
"Todo estará bien.”
“Todo estará bien.” She said gently to Pumpetunia.
Pumpetunia looked over, teary eyed, and gave her a small smile. Kira pulled her into a tight hug, trying to comfort her.
Felipe went over and joined in, nuzzling Pumpetunia.
For now at least, they all felt okay, and that's all that mattered.
Yeah, that’s not going to last.
While proofreading this review, I had an interesting thought: Due to this fanfic’s nature as a prequel, we know that Felipe is inevitably going to have to abandon his search for Twist and come to live with Manny.
In Part 1, Turner met Twist, and learned that she had a brother she abandoned, before he settled down with Manny.
So, when Felipe finally meets Manny (which will probably be after a bit of a timeskip given what I said earlier), what plot contrivance is going to prevent Turner from telling Felipe that he’d met his sister, and had a rough idea of where to find her?

Song Review: Rosanne Cash - “The Wheel” (Live, “Austin City Limits,” July 26, 1993)
Mixing the pop with the country on “Austin City Limits,” Rosanne Cash makes “The Wheel” turn with her pristine live vocals.
This version, recorded July 26, 1993, was rolled out to announce the Nov. 17 arrival of the Wheel (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition). It’s a sprightly arrangement with organ, electric guitar and prominent drums adding rock ’n’ roll flavor as Cash sought more mainstream success.
And she deserved it. But not for pandering. Simply for her golden voice, one that consistently - and to this day - sounds even more alluring on stage than in the studio.
“The Wheel” is a so-so song. But this “ACL” performance, one of 11 live tracks that’ll accompany the remastered album, is a dandy that adds air to the under-inflated tire of a composition.

Tire Replacement FAQ: Answering Ontario Drivers’ New Tire Questions
As a responsible driver, ensuring the safety and performance of your vehicle is of utmost importance. One crucial aspect of vehicle maintenance is tire replacement. In this blog, we will address some frequently asked questions about tire replacement, specifically for Ontario drivers. Whether you're in Brampton or any other part of Ontario, understanding when to change your tires and signs indicating the need for replacement is vital for a smooth and safe driving experience. So, let's dive into the world of tire replacement and answer some common questions!
When should you change summer tires in Ontario?
Knowing when to change your tires is crucial for maintaining optimal performance and safety on the road. Several factors determine when it's time for a tire change. The first is tread depth. In Ontario, the legal minimum tread depth is 1.5 mm. However, experts recommend changing your tires when the tread depth reaches 4 mm to ensure better traction and handling. Another factor is tire age. Even if your tires have sufficient tread, they should be replaced every six years, as rubber compounds deteriorate over time, reducing grip and safety. What are the signs that your tires need to be replaced?
Recognizing the signs that your tires need replacement is essential to avoid potential accidents or breakdowns. Here are some key indicators to watch out for: 1. Low tread depth: One of the most obvious signs is when the tread depth reaches the legal minimum of 1.5 mm. If you notice the tread wear bars are becoming visible or the tire tread looks significantly worn, it's time to replace your tires. 2. Uneven tread wear: If you observe uneven wear on your tires, it may indicate misalignment, suspension issues, or improper tire inflation. In such cases, it's best to have your vehicle inspected by a professional and consider tire replacement. 3. Cracks, bulges, or bubbles: Any visible damage on the tire sidewall, such as cracks, bulges, or bubbles, indicates potential structural weakness. Such tires are at a higher risk of sudden failure and should be replaced immediately. 4. Excessive vibration or noise: Unusual vibrations or increased road noise can be a sign of tire wear or an alignment problem. If you experience these issues, it's advisable to consult a tire professional to assess whether replacement is necessary. When should summer tires be changed in Ontario? In Ontario, the weather conditions vary significantly throughout the year, which means you need to adjust your tires accordingly. Summer tires are designed for warmer temperatures and offer optimal performance in dry and wet conditions. As a general guideline, it's recommended to switch to summer tires once the temperature consistently stays above 7°C. It's important to note that using winter tires in warmer weather can lead to increased wear and reduced fuel efficiency. Therefore, keeping track of the temperature and changing your tires accordingly will ensure you have the right tires for the season. Where can you get the tire change services in Brampton? If you reside in Brampton, there are several reputable tire change services available to assist you. These service centers like Harrad Auto offers tire replacement, alignment, and other related services to keep your vehicle in top condition. Before visiting any service center, it's advisable to check their operating hours, book an appointment if necessary, and inquire about their range of services and prices. Reading reviews from other customers can also provide valuable insights into their expertise and customer service. Following are a few more frequently asked questions about tire replacement:
1. How often should I rotate my tires?
Regular tire rotation helps promote even tread wear, extending the lifespan of your tires. It is generally recommended to rotate your tires every 5,000 to 8,000 miles (8,000 to 13,000 kilometers), or as specified in your vehicle's owner's manual. By rotating the tires, you ensure that they wear evenly and maintain optimal performance.
2. Can I replace just one tire, or should I replace all four at once?
Ideally, it is recommended to replace all four tires at once for optimal performance and safety. This ensures that all tires have the same tread depth, traction, and handling characteristics. However, if one tire becomes damaged or worn before the others, and the remaining three still have significant tread life, you may be able to replace just the one tire. In such cases, it's important to consult with a tire professional who can assess the condition of your tires and provide appropriate guidance.
3. What is the difference between all-season and winter tires?
All-season tires are designed to provide a balance of performance and traction in various weather conditions, including dry, wet, and light winter conditions. They offer good handling and tread life but may not provide optimal grip in severe winter conditions. Winter tires, on the other hand, are specifically designed for cold weather, icy, and snowy conditions. They are made with a softer rubber compound that remains flexible in low temperatures, allowing for better traction and grip on icy and snowy surfaces. Winter tires have deeper tread patterns and often feature specialized tread designs to enhance grip in winter conditions.
4. How can I store my tires properly when they are not in use?
Proper tire storage is important to maintain their quality and prolong their lifespan. Here are some tips for storing your tires:
Clean the tires: Before storing your tires, ensure they are clean and free from dirt, debris, and brake dust. Use a mild soap and water solution to clean them thoroughly.
Tire pressure: Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure level before storing them. This helps prevent flat spots from forming during storage.
Store in a cool, dry place: Tires should be stored in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and ozone-generating equipment. Excessive heat and moisture can accelerate tire deterioration.
Stack or hang tires: If stacking tires, place them horizontally on top of each other. If hanging, use a tire rack or similar equipment designed for tire storage.
Avoid stacking heavy objects: Avoid placing heavy objects on top of stored tires, as it can cause damage or deformation.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your tires remain in good condition during the off-season.
Tire replacement is a crucial part of vehicle maintenance that should not be overlooked. By understanding the signs that indicate the need for replacement and following the recommended guidelines, Ontario drivers can ensure the safety and performance of their vehicles on the road. Remember to consult with a tire professional for personalized advice and recommendations based on your specific vehicle and driving conditions.

Winter Car Storage: How to Protect Your Vehicle During the Off-Season
Introduction: Why Winter Car Storage Matters
Let’s be honest: winter can be rough—not just on us, but also on our cars. Between freezing temperatures, snow, road salt, and icy conditions, your vehicle goes through a lot. If you have a classic car, a convertible, or just a vehicle you don’t use during the winter months, it makes a lot of sense to store it safely.
Winter car storage isn’t just about keeping your car parked—it’s about protecting your investment. Whether you’re searching for automobile storage near me or planning ahead for your seasonal vehicle, this guide walks you through everything you need to know in simple, easy-to-follow steps.
When and Why You Should Consider Storing Your Car
If you live in an area where winter means more than just a light dusting of snow, storing your car can save you a lot of hassle. Here’s when it makes sense:
You Own a Second Vehicle: Seasonal vehicles like convertibles or sports cars often sit idle during the cold months.
Going on a Long Trip: Planning to travel for weeks or months? Storing your vehicle protects it while you’re away.
Classic or Vintage Car Owner: Preserving these vehicles is all about avoiding harsh conditions.
Whether you’re in Richardson, Greenville, or Decatur, car storage gives you peace of mind that your vehicle is safe.
Choosing the Right Car Storage Option
Indoor vs. Outdoor Storage
Indoor Storage offers protection from snow, ice, UV rays, and animals. It's ideal for expensive or vintage cars.
Outdoor Storage is usually more affordable but leaves your car exposed to the elements.
Short-Term vs. Long-Term Storage
Short-Term: A few weeks to a couple of months. Ideal for vacations or temporary relocations.
Long-Term: Full-season storage. Requires more thorough prep.
Choosing a Reliable Car Storage Facility

Step 7: Interior Prep
Remove food wrappers and vacuum thoroughly
Place moisture absorbers inside to prevent mildew
Use sunshades to protect the dashboard (even indoors)
Best Practices During the Storage Period
Check on the Car Monthly: Especially if it's stored outdoors.
Avoid Starting the Car Unless Necessary: Frequent short starts can cause more harm than good.
Rodent Control: Place traps or use rodent repellents inside the engine bay.
Ventilation: Crack windows slightly for airflow—just be sure it’s secure.
Taking the Car Out of Storage: What to Do First
Inspection Checklist
Check fluid levels
Look for signs of rodents
Inspect tires for flat spots
Starting the Engine
Reconnect the battery
Let the engine run for a few minutes before driving

Before handing over your car to the movers, inspect it thoroughly. Note down existing dents, scratches, or any mechanical issues. Take clear photographs of your car from all angles. This documentation will serve as evidence in case of any damage during transit. Also, make sure the car’s fluid levels are normal, the battery is charged, and the tires are properly inflated.
3. Remove Personal Belongings
Never leave personal items inside the car while it’s being transported. Loose items can get damaged or cause damage during transit. Remove valuables, chargers, important documents, and any accessories like GPS units or dashcams. Not only does this minimize the risk of loss, but it also reduces the overall weight of the car, making transportation easier.
4. Disable Alarms and Lock the Car
Don’t forget to disable your car alarm system before handing it over. An active alarm can cause unnecessary disruptions during transportation. Once all checks are done, lock your car securely. Most transport services will not need to access the car interior once it’s on the carrier.
5. Use Enclosed Transport for Luxury Cars
If you’re shifting a high-end or luxury vehicle, consider using enclosed transport instead of an open carrier. Enclosed carriers offer better protection against weather conditions, road debris, and potential damage. Though slightly more expensive, the added security is worth it for valuable vehicles.
6. Get Insurance Coverage
Even if you’re working with a trusted service like TPM Packers and Movers Salt Lake, it’s essential to have insurance coverage for your vehicle during transit. Confirm whether the transport company provides insurance and check what damages are covered. If needed, you can purchase additional insurance for peace of mind.
7. Plan Ahead and Book Early
Avoid last-minute rushes by scheduling your car shifting in advance. Early booking not only gives you better rates but also ensures availability during busy seasons. Share accurate details with your service provider, including pick-up and drop-off locations, type of vehicle, and preferred dates.
8. Communicate Clearly with the Movers
Stay in touch with your car moving service throughout the process. Confirm pick-up and delivery times and ask for updates during transit. Services like TPM Packers and Movers New Town usually offer tracking systems or regular updates, allowing you to monitor your vehicle’s journey in real-time.
9. Check for Leaks and Fuel Levels
Before handing over the car, check for any oil or fluid leaks and get them fixed. A leaking car can pose risks during transportation. Also, keep the fuel tank at about one-quarter full—just enough for loading and unloading but not so much that it adds unnecessary weight.
10. Inspect Your Car Upon Delivery
Once your car arrives at its destination, inspect it again carefully. Compare the condition with the photos taken before the move. If you notice any damage, report it immediately and initiate the claims process if required.
Shifting a car doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right preparation and the support of professional movers, you can ensure a seamless transition. Whether it’s across cities or states, planning ahead and taking these simple steps can save you time, money, and stress.
For dependable and expert service, TPM Packers and Movers remains a top choice for hassle-free car relocation.
