Dragons and Stars

He’d asked me, in his own way, to be his.

Words such as these didn’t come easily to Shin and I knew how much thought he must have put into the evening, so when he asked me to meet him I did so with no hesitation.

I was lost for words when I saw him, no longer adorned in his leather armaments, but in a breathtakingly handsome  ensemble, I wanted to feel his touch right then and there despite myself. I had never felt such a rise, such a spark - with anyone before him. I was nearly embarrassed at myself, gawking at him as I did, his long crimson hair pulled back for a change, his handsome features on full display.

Oh, Light...

         What did I do right to land such a man?

After I collected myself I got to meet a very special dragon named Emerald, who also happened to be a cloud serpent! The serpent was just as impressive as Shin had promised, my heart skipping a beat when he asked me to join him on the dragon’s saddle, leading me to undisclosed location.

His words were soft and kind, not stoic and firm as usual, and I felt my heart grow faint at his heartfelt confession - though he had told me he loved me before, it was never like this. Rings, vows, and papers be damned - I was his.

I needed nothing more than to be by his side.

We stargazed for hours, my tears finally drying off as I started to fall asleep against the warmth of his chest, his arms cradling me as he carried me back to his dragon - taking us back home.

                                                           Our home.

I could stay a thousand years beside him and still yearn for a thousand more, his my protector, confidant, and my dearest friend. He is also my lover, the man who shares his bed with me, and welcomes me into his chamber. I look forward to seeing where the future takes us....even if he always has to hold my hand.

Though I know it’s true - I dare not speak the words. Calling him my fiancé would simply be too much for my fragile heart to handle...
