Carved my first pumpkin today! (I found a stencil)

Think i'm gonna scrape a bit more off the front though because my friend put a very POWERFUL light in there to test it out and i won't have the same light when i bring it to work for the contest (Plus i don't know if they'll turn the lights off). Also, i still have to get the eyes carved out.

I left some tops of plants I had let go to seed (a couple different lettuces, radishes, and mustard greens) that I harvested to save seeds from in open paper shopping bags outside to give the bugs that were on them time to skedaddle before I brought them inside to pick all the seeds out to save them but yknow... ADHD, out of sight out of mind lol so I forgot about them for a few weeks and sure all the aphids and squash bugs left, but in that time a bunch of tiny little spiders moved in. Which is still better tbh (I'm honestly fine with spiders especially little ones but I absolutely DETEST squash bugs, and the aphids I just don't want to spread to my indoor plants) but also inconvenient. Guess I will be wearing gloves while I seed harvest and doing my seed harvesting sitting outside instead of inside.

#i spent most of yesterday collecting seeds to save too #but from my basil plants in my herb garden out front #i read that basil seeds were easy to collect because you just rub them between your fingers #and the seeds fall out and then you can easily blow away the chaff to separate it from the seeds #I DID NOT FIND THIS TO BE TRUE #i mean sure in theory its easy but when you have a pile of HUNDREDS of tiny little flowers that you have to do that to it is not easy lol #and i cant do more than one or two at a time because i dont have enough finger strength to rub them apart well if i do more than that #so i was picking one or two flowers off at a time to get 3-4 seeds to fall out from each of them and then trying to carefully separate them #which is also not as easy as people make it seem because those seeds are teeny tiny and barely weigh more than the chaff does #sat in the kitchen on my stool doing that for like two hours yesterday #only got 1/3 of the way through the flowers i collected from ONE JUST ONE of my chinese sweet basil plants #and i still have flowers from two mammolo basils and another two chinese sweet basils and a thai holy basil and a thai sweet basil to do #i did get like hundreds of seeds from that little bit of chinese sweet basil i did yesterday though so like #safe to say i will never need to buy basil seeds again lol #which is nice esp for the thai holy and chinese sweet basil because those seeds were kinda pricey #'pricey' for seeds being 50 seeds in a $3 packet lol which is not a lot on its own but when you're ordering like 50 packets of seeds #all around that price or a little bit more ($3-$5) that adds up quick #hence why i am doing so much seed collecting this year to minimize rebuying next year #also to see what hybrids i get since i did not keep everything separated to avoid cross pollination intentionally #esp the pumpkins i really want to see what i get from those seeds if they got cross pollinated #rambling in the tags again whoops my adhd meds kicked in an now i cant stop typing or talking lol #did you know theres a tag limit? like it will let you keep adding tags but after some point they stop showing up after you post?#learned that thanks to adhd med related tag rambling on my other blog a while ago lol

I am still so full of soup from supper but I think I will be a little bit indulgent and have another small cup of soup.

#image commentary in tags once again since they don't allow captions anymore and I feel weird using the alt text for that --#1. PIBBINS.... cheering clapping hooting hollering glorious applause everytime I see a pigeon in public #2. Birthday card that I drew for someone. .. kittys...#3. 2023's annual haul of tiny white pumpkins.. i get at least one white pumpkin every year around fall when they have pumpkins in stores #because I just love the color and texture ... bright white and smooth and cold and round.. kind of like a volleyball or something #4. A brief adventure into watching big brother (only earlier seasons of course as I hate all reality shows post like 2013 or something when #they became overly focused on social media and overproduced memeable phrases more.. like even though ALL reality shows have always #been extremely fake and annoying and mindless it's like..... newer stuff seems A Different Kind Of Fake or something) since whenever #I'm sick sometimes I find weird mindless things like that to watch (that one time I had bronchitis I watched all of Flavor of Love in my #half awake illness stupor and now everytime I heat up canned minestrone soup (mostly all I ate that week) I think of flavor flav since #thats just a weird brain connection I have now lol) ANYWAY.. I was sick and watched like 2 seasons of this and then thought it was too #uninteresting and obnoxious to continue (more like 1 and a half since I skipped the rest of one once only boring people were left) BUT this #one guy had a very mischevious looking face and he also said a few things (like the above captioned speech) that sounded like dialogue #some fantasy character would say.. so I took a screencap of him and edited him into a mischevious wizard i guess.?? idk I was sick lol #~your little friend has a poisoned tongue~ is just a very unexpectedly serious sounding wording for some random normal #frat dude looking guy to say while casually chatting on a reality tv show in like 2008 or whenever that was filmed lol #5. FLUFFY CLOVERS!! I'd never seen them be furry and soft before?? inchresting..#6. Noodle sitting in bed with the cat figurines looming above him... the council of kittys...#7. McDonald's full breakfast platter + asparagus + strawberries & cream (also of course this is old and I am now boycotting mcdonalds etc)#i try to group the images somewhat consistently like.. winter stuff with winter stuff or summer stuff with summer stuff #but I have so many random pictrues floating around on my computer that I never post that sometimes some are not organized or just #thrown into a set because there's nowhere else for them. The lack of conversation over the past several days has nothing to do with a poor constitution or big-hat days as he knows them but more a reflection on the change of seasons and it occurs to her that she doesn't know the answer to this one thing.

Half a thought was spared - and it was only half because Beth's tone read serious and for all Ron was happy for a break from whatever quietude there'd been he'd never push levity over taking her word for what it was - to jesting about finding his version of God half way down a bottle of gin, but those words died before there even was a vine for them to grow on. Instead, Ron glanced towards the kitchen window and raised his own brew to his lips, buying a little think time to let so poignant a question percolate. What came to him was...esoteric. But he trusted Beth to understand.

"...There's been...rare times" he began, speaking slowly, stealing tea-sips as he paused. "Where I've been aht 'n i's rained. Been aht in th'yard 'n i's rained. Pelted dahn. 'N there's been this...warmf b'tween me shouldahs...Collectin' there 'n then movin' up me back...me neck...furvah, t'me 'ead...'N i's like I could feel th'windahs align b'tween me 'n...th'rest. Wha'eva's th'rest. Rose. God." A hand gestured vaguely towards nothing in particular, indicating 'the rest'.

"N in them moments...rare like they are...I fink I'm at me mos'...spiritual. Mos' in-tune wiv tha' part'a nature. Don't know if everyone gets tha', or if i's jus' me 'ead bein'--" A gesture to his head now - being itself; being scatty. "--Bu' i's then. S'like..."

He caught himself, not wanting to sound like one of those street corner preachers who, hand to whomever, need a prescription and proper care more than much else.

"Anyway...S'in th'rain, I find it" Ron said. "--Where I find there's God." A thoughtful pause, and then-- "Where's yours? Where'd you find yer mos' spiritual li'dat?"
