LANGUAGE Default: Spanish Primarily taught in schools: English Secondarily taught in schools: French Within big and semi-big establishments, you can usually ask for somebody who speaks English. "Hola." = "Hello." "Disculpeme..." = "Excuse me..." "No hablo Español. ¿Hay alguien que hable Ingles?" = "I don't speak Spanish. Is there somebody who speaks English?"

CUISINE We do have our typical dishes (might have a complete separate post for that), but there's food from everywhere available here. You can eat whatever you want.

RELIGION Catholicism is the default, but there's a number of other religions also being practiced that are not too contrary to it. Most people here believe in God, but they aren't too pushy about it. And even when they are, they're not even being strict with themselves about it.

TRANSPORTATION Depending on where you are, you can walk to most places. Or walk to public cars and bus stops. Call taxis for anything. Or have your own vehicle. Jeepetas are preferred (or other tall vehicles) because the streets can be bumpy. BANKING There are several local and foreign banks, many of which are linked with banks elsewhere. There are also countless ATMs pretty much everywhere. You can easily use your debit card to withdraw money (there's a limit on how much by time, though) regardless of where it sits. Go into the banks personally for bigger transactions. ELECTRICITY & WATER We do get a lot of power outages. The length and frequency depend on what zone you are in. But plenty of apartment buildings have their own system so they can have energy 24/7. Houses also get their own "inversor" (batteries?) to automatically kick in when there's a power outage. You should get voltage protectors to plug your important stuff into too. As for water? It's normally fluent. Unless you happen to be somewhere where it's just not. Then you would need a "bomba" and/or a "tinaco". (ROFL, sorry, I never had to look up these terms in English. XD But that's how you should ask for them over here anyway.) INTERNET & CELL PHONES It's fine. Not the highest speed on the globe, but enough to download and upload without issues or losing your patience. Plans go from the most basic to ones a person wouldn't be able to make the most of even if they tried. As for cell phones, you can buy them here or elsewhere (unlocked) and get them to work as they should. SCHOOLS & HOSPITALS They are... affordable. And they aren't... bad.

GROCERIES & DELIVERY Fresh fruits and vegetables are accessible. Also eggs. Meat, cheese, etc. We have local produce and imported products. The latter tend to cost the most (most of them also come from other brands, however, so unless you're hyper-specific about getting a certain brand, you can opt for another). And there's delivery here too, direct and on phone apps. STAFF Cooks, cleaners, nannies, watchmen, drivers, and so on... within reach unless your budget is tight.
