1923, sæson 1

Efter succesen med "1883" stod det klart, at der måtte komme mere om Dutton-familiens saga, formentlig hele vejen op til nutidsdramaet "Yellowstone", som også er en publikumsfavorit, der snart blænder op for femte sæson. Taylor Sheridan har fået så meget blod på tanden, at han ikke længere kan nøjes med miniserier, men allerede har bebudet sæson 2 af "1923", ligesom "1883" også kommer til at fortsætte. Det næste projekt bliver jo så nok "1963", hvis 40-års-logikken skal holde.

"1923" er bestemt ikke dårlig. Den minder meget om "Yellowstone", da der både er underkuede indianere, fjendtlige naboer og skurkagtige bankfolk i kulissen, men tidsbilledet er naturligvis et andet. Det er lykkedes at få hyret Harrison Ford og Helen Mirren til hovedrollerne som 1923-generationens Dutton-ægtepar, og alene det er et kup. En anden glædelig overraskelse er Timothy Dalton som totalt skrupelløs bankmand, en overbevisende blanding af verdensmand og psykopat, der igen får en til at ærgre sig over, at han kun fik lavet to James Bond-film. Nævnes bør også Jerome Flynn (Bronn i "Game of Thrones") som den fjendske nabo.

For ikke at lave for mange gentagelser af "Yellowstone" har Sheridan lavet flashbacks til Første Verdenskrig samt en eventyrlig og romantisk sidehandling inspireret af "Out of Africa" og "Titanic" med storvildtsjæger-nevøen Spencer Dutton som hovedperson. Det er alt sammen såre spændende og romantisk, men når ikke samme seriøse dybder som den fremragende første sæson af "1883".

Hvis man er til afholdsporno, er der også en del bare patter i de to sidste afsnit ─ en efter min mening unødvendig kulørt afstikker fra seriens gængse fortællestil.

Som abonnent på SkyShowtime vil jeg i øvrigt brokke mig over, at jeg var nødt til at hente alle seriens afsnit fra andre kilder, fordi de danske premieredatoer halter bagefter USA's, denne gang (i starten) hele fire uger. Det må de godt stramme op på.
