This is gonna be the last one because honestly I didn’t have that much salt to begin with and this is the last grain of salt I can get out from the salt shaker that is my brain. 

I never really bought into the whole Goku/Vegeta rivalry personally??? Like idk it didn’t really feel like a rivalry, Vegeta would just kinda be angry at Goku’s existence and Goku would just brush off Vegeta’s attempts to start shit with him. 

It never seemed like there was an actual mutual rivalry, Vegeta just seemed obsessed with Goku as an obstacle to surpass than anything else, while Goku never seemed to be that interested in fighting him. I never really felt like Goku and Vegeta understood each other, I mean, there were moments where they seem to have this (Vegeta claiming Goku wouldn’t surrender or accept help against Cell, Goku fighting Vegeta at basically equal level rather than going all out) but it’s immediately shown that they don’t really (Goku immediately quits to enact his own plan, Vegeta gets so upset at Goku he nearly doesn’t help him against Buu).

It reminds me something of Yugi/Kaiba, but where it was a rivalry that was a fair bit more equal on both sides. While it went to obsession on Kaiba’s end, both Yugi and Kaiba do acknowledge each other as worthy opponents and face off multiple times, with both of them fully acknowledging their skills more than once with their assessments of each another being accurate.

I’m not really sure if I made my opinion clear or if I made it confusing by throwing in Yu Gi Oh but the point is! It doesn’t feel like a rivalry and therefore while I enjoyed the clashes between the two of them for their fight choreography and their general chemistry with one another, I’m not invested into that specific aspect of them.
